What’s your Pmmm character rank to favorite to least favorite
Hmm. I don't really have a least favourite; I like all of the Holy Quintet characters to some degree. Though, if I had to rank them purely by favouritism, this would be it:
1. Sayaka (♕)
2. Homura, Madoka
3. Mami, Kyoko

Debating having a second, parallel fic to dr1 end rewrite that's just. memories.
And then sometimes posting one of those instead of a main fic update to show what memories Kyoko's recovering as time goes on, while also giving a better look (albeit out of order) of stuff that happened prior to the Killing Game.
....
The first chapter would be the first all girls sleepover that Kyoko goes to. Because I think that's apt.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello! After all this effort, behold:
DANGANRONPA DEMIX, THH EDITION!
Finally got the talentswap designs I have for the THH characters one and done with! You can click through the read more section for some fun design insights. I'm intending on uploading a doc containing short lore bits about them eventually.
Tumblr media
Kyoko Kirigiri - Ultimate Affluent Progeny
So Kyoko's design was both kinda simple, kinda not, wanted to give her a very fine and regal kinda attitude to her but not arrogant as that's very much Byakuya's thing. Her story is that she loves her dad more than the family business and her grandpa so she abandons detective work and just uses her brain to help her dad out.
Makoto Naegi - Ultimate Novelist
Makoto is a wonderful guy, just great all around. He loves writing children's books and happy stories. This is his main coping mechanism so he doesn't have to process any negative emotions he gets, the rest he can't process… well they go into a murderous psychopath alter.
Tumblr media
Aoi Asahina - Ultimate Lucky Student
Shoujo protagonist Aoi. Cute, headstrong, affective, competitive, these are all the traits that make her fight for her friends and clash with Kyoko (and more often than not Byakuya) in the killing game, even when all hope seems lost… she pushes through, unafraid to let tears spill from her eyes for all those lost, but pushing all the same.
Byakuya Togami - Ultimate Detective
This one, I wanna go into more lore territory, cause I kinda memed around his last desc I gave him so here goes:
"A disgraced heir of the Togami household, Byakuya lost the competition that would've secured his riches. Disdainful and bitter, he sought out to get to the bottom of why he lost, uncovering a rabbit hole in the process. By the end, he proved his sibling a cheater, but it didn't matter because by the end as he found the sweet satisfaction of uncovering secrets and crushing liars and cheaters under the weight of their hubris far more satisfying than any inheritance."
Tumblr media
Sayaka Maizono - Ultimate Spirit Medium
So Sayaka isn't a clairvoyant at all like Yasuhiro, in fact her entire skillset is completely different, first of all she is like an actual psychic, and I based her design off of the japanese Itako, quite loosely. Very interesting group, look it up, also she'll never use these powers in the killing game because I dunno how to even approach these rituals or what they look like or how to write them while remaining respectful, so she won't do it in a killing game for the express reason of her not having the right tools available and not wanting to disrespect her traditions.
Leon Kuwata - Ultimate Swimmer
I really wanna draw him again, all these characters again tbh, and I wanna show off the patterns on his wetsuit. It's a whole coral reef under there, that anemone and clownfish bit is only one part of a whole reef stretching his midline.
Tumblr media
Sakura Ogami - Ultimate Programmer
Sakura has installed chips into her body to help optimize her body processes and also cause why not. As for the muscles, she's an Assembly programmer, the programs she's made can run on calculators she loves it.
Chihiro Fujisaki - Ultimate Martial Artist
Chihiro's design here with the two belts is an explicit nod to his preferred martial art - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so unlike Sakura in canon who'd be easy to imagine cracking someone's skull in half with a chop, Chihiro's approach is more crawling onto someone and bringing them down to the floor with grappling like an angry halfling monk. As for the belts themselves, on his head is his final junior belt, while around his waist is his current belt, he's not a black belt yet because he's still too young for it.
Tumblr media
Celestia Ludenberg - Ultimate Baseball Star
Celestia actually isn't a legend in this AU, Taeko is. Celestia hates that and wants to start a baseball career going international, whatever the hell that means is up to her own definition, but she wants to be remembered forever as Celestia, not Taeko. Also extra sentence, but this is the SINGLE hardest design I've ever had to deal with here, I think in the future I'll be drawing all her little accessories and I have an alt costume for her I have in mind.
Hifumi Yamada - Ultimate Pop Star
So I changed Hifumi's story as I originally outlined in the OG post with him. He was friends with Aoi all his life, pretty much his only friend at all, and ever since he was little he had an obsession with writing songs, because he was obsessed with stuff like anime openings and was content to just keep the songs to himself. It wasn't till Aoi convinced him to share some of his songs that he started his journey to success, but bc he's not traditionally attractive, his first hits were literally just… his voice being played over other more attractive singers and it wasn't until very very recently that he even performed a song of his for the first time.
Tumblr media
Toko Fukawa - Ultimate Fanfic Writer
So while Hifumi was clearly a Doujinshi but due to weird translation, ended up as fanfic creator, Touko is straight up a FF then Wattpad then AO3 girl, who would get obsessed with this really shitty, tripe manga that she didn't even like reading. It did however have super hot dudes in it, so she wrote good stories of those characters when she got frustrated with the actual authorial content - which was always.
Yasuhiro Hagakure - Ultimate Gambler
Quite LITERALLY the never stop gambling meme personified into a guy. He can lose 3 mil on slot machines but always comes out fine because it means if he keeps gambling he'll eventually run into his 1/3 and win giga millions, what he needs to pay off his debts. It isn't just with luck though either because his personality and lack of intelligence or understanding of most the rules of the games he plays means he'll never react the way he should when getting a good hand in poker or a bad draw in blackjack, so he wins those games almost always through just… stupidity.
Tumblr media
Mukuro Ikusaba - Ultimate Biker
She's number 16 in her gang, and is easily the most loyal enforcer and taskman of the gang. She does anything she's told, to a grim and disciplined degree not typical for hooligan bike gangers, she doesn't really desire a seat as top dog of the gang though, after all she's got school to worry about, and her sister.
Mondo Owada - Ultimate Warlord
So his relationship and Kiyotaka's is gonna be interesting, because I don't want him to be exactly like Mukuro at all, who was just sort of an all-obsessed Yandere. It's more like he's always chafing under Taka, who is less than friendly with him in this AU, really the main way he even lets Taka boss him around is because he pays incredibly well and helps keep his gang members from devolving back into the unstructured, chaotic criminal life, the same that took his brother years ago.
Oh and yeah, he still looks like Guile, as he should.
Tumblr media
Sparkling Justice - Ultimate Killer Killer
Yeah it's a reference to Killer Killer, sue me I love the manga. He has Hajirahara's ahoge, and I thought it'd be cute to also give him a mask just like the other Makoto from a Kodaka game series (Raincode.) Also, while Genocide jack stuffs all her scissors in her skirt, Makoto keeps a truth gun with "truth bullets" as his main weapon, the gun he stores inside the big book in the chibi of just Makoto, and the bullets kept on his person as the red buttons all over his body, which he pulls out when he needs to reload.
"Kiyotaka Ishimaru" - Ultimate Fashionista
Unlike Mukuro and Junko, Mondo absolutely cannot hide the fact that he acts nothing like Kiyotaka, though this is surprisingly fine to everyone else, because unlike Junko who plastered herself onto literally everything, Mondo always obfuscated himself from the public spotlight, at most showing only his suits while he hid his face behind something conveniently placed. Which played primarily to his vision of an ultimate fashionista, who was above everyone and catered to the rich and powerful.
Tumblr media
Junko Enoshima - Ultimate Moral Compass
This was a fun one, I decided to let her have her red hair because I believe it to be the "natural" look of her hair, while attaching little clips of dyed hair to her buns as a replacement to keep her shape sorta and keep the strawberry blonde somwehere on her. Understand that while she is the "moral compass" she is still pretty deranged, and the only reason she focuses so much on keeping everyone on their best behavior is because it's endlessly entertaining to her to make her fellow moral committee members upset when she blatantly makes a mockery of the rules while still keeping kids on their best behavior to make a point.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru - Ultimate Fashionista and Tyrant, the Iron Hand of Despair
Taka's design I wanted to sort of focus on this sort of, holier-than-thou idea, where I wanted to make him look a lot fancier and upper-class than Junko does in his standard highschool fit compared to him. I wanted him to have an upper-crust sort of look
If you're reading this after reading this all, thanks! You're a wonderful person :) Signing off...

Kyoko and Homura
I was reading some fan work (It's about Kyoko and Sayaka baiting Homura to help them with their summer homework) online and the author pointed something out. (Read from right to left)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it really is true, Homura never calls Sayaka by just her first name. Homura only calls two people by their first name. The first one is, of course, Madoka. The second one is...
Tumblr media
Kyoko Sakura I immediately thought of the relationship between these two in the series.
Tumblr media
^ This one where Kyoko respects Homura and their deal. She lets Homura deal with Sayaka instead of interfering. There was a vibe of friendly banter with the two of them. Something Homura hasn't shown the other girls in the series. It's because everyone was automatically hostile towards Homura (I mean... can you blame them?). Surprisingly, even when Homura threatened Kyoko (their first meeting where Homura saved Sayaka), Kyoko never took it to heart. She still had the heart to banter with Homura even after that exchange.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ In this scene where Homura introduces the Walpurgis to Kyoko, she tries to connect to Homura by telling her that the two of them are exactly the same. As the saying goes, birds of the same feather flock together. But I see this as an attempt of Kyoko to get Homura to open up to her instead of having such a professional relationship.
Tumblr media
^ This, where Kyoko doesn't angrily lash out at Homura for trying to kill Sayaka, but she tries to get an answer to Homura's actions. Kyoko understands that Homura is a person that acts on reason not on emotion. (But we know she acts more on emotion when it comes to Madoka) So Homura suddenly wanting to kill Sayaka was mysterious to her. (But not for us because we know what prompted her to want to kill Sayaka was for Madoka's sake)
Tumblr media
^ In the series' timeline, Kyoko was the only one who knew what Homura can do because Homura told her, AND ONLY HER because Homura knows that she's substantially A LOT weaker if people knew what she can do, see Mami vs Homura in Rebellion. Homura's whole game plan hinges on the enemy not knowing what she can do. So, her telling Kyoko what kind of magic she has, shows that she trusts Kyoko with this knowledge. (Also, side note, Homura really is just the number 1 Sayaka hater, telling Kyoko to "toss that useless hunk of meat aside" lol).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ In this part Kyoko repeats what Homura told her before and you can see that Homura feels some regret talking to her like that. I would like to think that Kyoko was referring to herself when she said "burden" because Walpurgis IS THE FIGHT and Kyoko will be a burden if she were to survive. But I think what's really happening is that she's just returning what Homura told her. (Like the friendly banter I mentioned earlier). Calling Homura a burden as a one last "GOTCHA!" to her friend. Now let's go to Rebellion.
Tumblr media
^ Homura called out to Kyoko first because she was "acting differently from what I know". This just implies that Homura knows Kyoko more than the other 2 (Mami and Sayaka). Homura knows Kyoko as the aggressive and 'in your face' type of person. I also like to think that Homura is closer to Kyoko than them. If Homura were to rank them, it would be. 1. Madoka 2. Kyoko 3. Mami 4. Sayaka (Sayaka hater inbound) When it came to Kyoko too, she also saw Homura as someone who was acting out of character. Thus her comment..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Bonus: Kyoko's act of friendship is sharing her food because how important it is to her.)
Tumblr media
When Homura found out who was the witch, she called Kyoko immediately and updated her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ We get this scene where she hurriedly wants to help Homura. Dropping everything that is going on, wanting to help her friend with the problem she's facing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ Homura also apologizing to Kyouko as a last farewell to her. In Homura's POV this is her last call before she dies, before she becomes a witch. Homura chose to call Kyoko for 4 possible reasons. 1. It's to update Kyoko on what happened to her. 2. Bid farewell to a dear friend (I like this one the most) 3. Apologize to Kyoko for putting the Quintet in risk, so that she can ease some of the pain in her heart. She wouldn't call Madoka because she already had a heartfelt moment with her in the flower field. This scene, this wonderful scene of these two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ This scene alone shows so much about the relationship of this two. Kyouko mourning the loss of her friend and that face touch. It shows how emotionally intimate Kyouko is as a person (We already saw that in the series with Sayaka). And maybe she blames herself for not being able to help Homura with whatever happened. These 2 really trust each other and care for each other. I am inclined to believe that in one of Homura's timelines, Kyouko told her all about her past and Homura in return told her of hers. That would explain the connection these two have. I can see these two as very, VEry ,VERY close friends. In the end of Rebellion. Homura made Kyoko their classmate and put her beside Sayaka because she knows that these two are close to each other and care for each other. Homura knows that this is what will make Kyoko happy.
Tumblr media
(Oh Homura, how nice of you)
Tumblr media
^ In the final scene we can see Kyoko and Sayaka having fun in their new life thanks to the new world Homura sewed up for them.
Tumblr media
^ I don't know what Homura and Kyoko's relationship is in this new world. But I hope it's a good one because the friendship in this two is something that I've always held in high regard in the series.
Tumblr media
BONUS This is from a memoria from the gacha game (RIP NA) Magia Record titled, "My School Life". The descriptions reads: Perhaps another world could have existed where Witches weren't a part of my day-to-day life. Maybe I would have gone to school like normal, chatted with friends like normal, and gone home after school like normal. And it's cute that the picture they used is Homura and Kyoko.

Random danganronpa girls when y/n is sad because they got hurt by someone(part 1)
TW: yandere themes, mild descriptive gore
Info: headcanons, yandere, comfort, fluff, gn reader, lowercase on purpose, reader is in a relationship with the yanderes, reader is smaller or same height as the yanderes, reader is aware/accepting of the yanderes, no killing game, just despair
Key: y/n, darling is reader
Note: i'm back, learned some stuff in writing, got into danganronpa, lets see how i do(here's the boy version)
Characters: kyoko kirigiri, celestia ludenberg, toko fukawa(genocide jack), mukuro ikusaba, junko enoshima, peko pekoyama, mikan tsumiki
♡ kyoko kirigiri ♡
calm and collected. already thinking of what to do with the person who hurt y/n
leaves y/n in makoto's care as she goes on to teach that fool a lesson
she's an expert. she already knows the best ways to cover up a murder without anyone finding out, knows the right thing to say to avoid suspicion
when she comes back, she takes y/n's hands in hers, rubbing circles on them with her thumbs, then looks at them in the eyes in awe
"it's alright, y/n. as long as you stay with me, you won't get hurt again. i promise."
♡ celestia ludenberg ♡
calm on the outside, raging on the inside(y/n can't even tell she's mad)
has her loyal servants(probably hifumi) kill that peasant for her, but if they don't get the job done right, she'll kill them and decide to finish the job herself
keeps up her persona, knows how to lie her way out of questions from people suspicious of her
sits y/n on her lap, holds them close, telling them soothing affirmations, lets them lay their head on her chest
"shh... it's going to be okay, my dear. i'll make sure that that low-rank is vanished... permanently."
♡ toko fukawa/genocide jack ♡
panicking. questions how she could have let this happen. mad at the person who hurt her darling
what should she do? should see just scare them off? or cut their tongue off? stab their heart and rip it out? slice their body into pieces?(jack agrees to all of the above >:)~)
puts y/n's comfort first, hugs them tightly, cries with them, reads them their favorite books
jack takes care of the murder, has lots of fun doing it in the name of her beloved y/n
toko: "d-don't listen to them, y/n! they're j-just the worst! t-they're going to pay! i'll make sure they do."
jack: "y/n, y/n. they're just a dumbass. a dumbass that needs their guts rearranged! kyehahahaha!"
♡ mukuro ikusaba ♡
already grabbing her weapon, ready to kill, already has tabs on the person
tells someone(junko) to distract y/n so she can go through with her murder plan
probably nobody suspects her or rather afraid to interrogate her since she's a despair sister. gets messy but knows how to clean it all up in all her years of training
tries her best to comfort y/n by giving them their favorite food/drink, rubbing their back, giving them compliments all out of adoration
"don't worry, y/n. i'll take care of every danger that comes your way. i assure you of that."
♡ junko enoshima ♡
uh, what? someone hurt her y/n? watch out, she's coming
plans on making that person's last moments as despair-inducing as possible. acts all casual while doing it. if someone hurts her y/n, they get a visit from the ultimate despair herself. don't they know she's the only one who can hurt y/n and not them?
everybody's too afraid of her, too afraid to confront her. i mean, she's the ultimate despair, she can cause as much pain and destruction as she wants. who wouldn't be afraid of her?
gives y/n the best day ever(with some despairing moments). buying them stuff, bringing them to their favorite places, smothers them with affection, holding their hand tightly so they don't leave
"aww, babe! i just had to bring you here! it makes you happier, doesn't it? [explosion heard from afar] hmm? oh, that sound? just a little something to cheer you up, no worries! hey, just... don't leave me again, okay? you know what happens when you do."
♡ peko pekoyama ♡
seeing red. will do whatever it takes to get back at the person
will make the person's death slow and painful, as they deserve. probably saves one of the person's eyeballs to give to y/n as a gift to prove her love
she's a swordswoman, she already knows the most efficient ways to kill someone, she's got it taken care of. fuyuhiko helps her with it because he's used to it by now
lets y/n hug her and cry on her shoulder while she pets their head, leaving light kisses on their forehead
"mm... cry it all out, it's okay. i'm here. i told you, i will always stay by your side. always."
♡ mikan tsumiki ♡
starts crying. can't handle the thought of her y/n being in pain
will give it everything she's got to show that person what happens when they mess with her darling. smiles as she does it, knowing it's all for her beloved. not giving the person a single peaceful moment
as a nurse, she knows what to use to kill a person instantly and painfully without making much of a mess. will lie to the others that the person had a fatal accident that had an inescapable death
gives y/n lots of care. won't even leave their side for a second. always checking up on them, asking if they're okay. hugging them, not letting go. brings them their items of comfort, makes them a warm drink of their choice
"i-i know it's a-a lot, but i-i just can't s-stand the thought of you feeling like this! i-it's bad for you! no one should make you feel like that!... no one."

Makoto & Nagito’s Survivor’s Guilt
i have many thoughts ab why makoto and nagito would have an interesting dynamic but today i’m thinking abt how their history parallels a little (like a lot of things ab them. they’re foils of each other i cld write an essay about it)
this is just a very long (kind of disorganized) tangent about lucky duo’s traumas and how they shaped their mindsets (and how they might understand each other better than people think at first)
i kind of get nervous anytime i put my analyses out there for people to percieve, but that’s okay. we’re facing fears today. LOL
——————————————————————————
i don’t think many people think about how makoto probably understands the survivor’s guilt nagito deals with better than anyone could, because he also has the mentality that he didn’t deserve to survive the things he did, and that his luck had a lot to do with his survival. they cope in very different ways, but at the core of their emotions they both feel that same “i don’t deserve to live” guilt.
——————————————————————————
Makoto’s Survivor’s Guilt
makoto doesn’t attribute as much of his trauma (which is the killing games he went through) to his luck, it doesn’t factor into his thinking as much as it does for nagito. junko says it at some point in the anime: makoto’s luck isn’t like nagito’s! he wouldn’t ever be able to utilize it like nagito can, because it isn’t consistent, it comes and goes super randomly. it keeps that mf alive and that’s IT 😭
(/j. it does more for him than that but im not talking ab his luck rn so BACK TO HIS SURVIVOR’S GUILT.)
he leaves the first killing game with this huge unofficial responsibility. he lost 10 of his classmates and it’s said that he was able to get his memories back after leaving, so that means he remembers the two years he spent with them. they were his friends :,)
and some of them did more than him to contribute to surviving. i know it’s for comedic effect in the game, but makoto is kind of consistently told by byakuya (and sometimes kyoko & others) that he’s stupid or unhelpful. + he already struggles with feeling like he’s not interesting, memorable, or unique in any kind of way (mr. “i’m average at being average”)
but nevertheless, he survives the games, (after basically convincing his remaining classmates to NOT sacrifice him. a second time.) and when he does get out, he joins the future foundation, where his nickname as the ultimate hope starts to push him to do as much as he can. and because he’s so determined to save as many people as he can, he opposes the foundation’s plan to kill the remnants, and takes them to jabberwock island. he’s so determined to do as much as he can because he feels like if he doesn’t, he’s wasting the life he was given. it’s implied a few times that he would have killed himself if he didn’t feel guilty throwing away the life that was taken from his friends! people don’t talk enough about how makoto is NOT as endlessly optimistic as everyone thinks
he isn’t completely immune to despair. i honestly feel like his main motivation in helping people and spreading hope isn’t that he lives by it, it’s that he has to do as much as he can to to spread it to OTHERS because if he doesn’t, what is he doing with the life he has that his friends were robbed of? i could get into the nuances of makoto’s character and how he isn’t just “hope enthusiast #1” but that’s more fitting of a makoto exclusive character analysis. coming soon/hj
the point of that is that he wouldn’t be alive if he didn’t feel like he had to make something of the fact that his classmates died and he didn’t. that’s what motivates him to try and save everyone, no matter who they are or how terrible they are (him saving the remnants, trying to save junko even though he hated her for what she did, and trying to save the future foundation members in the second game, even though they want him dead)
and when he already has this mentality, he goes through a SECOND killing game, where one of his closest friends (i forget if it’s canon they were dating or not, but you get the point) dies as a DIRECT result of him surviving. and instead of breaking down and giving up, he takes it and becomes more determined to end the game. but his despair video shows that he feels so guilty that he survived, even if he doesn’t ruminate in that feeling.
but nagito is the polar opposite
——————————————————————————
Nagito’s Survivor’s Guilt
most of nagito’s character revolves around two things:
His self-loathing
His twisted perception of hope, and his obsession with the concept
putting aside the fact that he has been diagnosed with dementia that definitely warps his perception of reality as it is, when you look into his backstory it makes sense why he thinks the way he does. his childhood pet died in a car crash when he was a little kid, then, when he goes on vacation with his parents (still in elementary school), the plane taking them back is hijacked, and then those hijackers are killed by a meteorite that also kills his parents right in front of him.
he has no other living relatives, so he’s given all of their inheritance, and is said to be free to live on his own. so he’s been alone since he was a kid, and then during middle school, he’s kidnapped by a SERIAL KILLER that held him for ransom, and then let him go after realizing no one was going to come for him. (which is actually so distressing to me like r u kidding me that’s so SAD HE HAD NO ONE WILLING TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE HE WAS MISSING?? UGH. ANYWAY.)
any chance at happiness Nagito has had was ripped from him in that cycle of good and bad luck. he starts to become fixated (and eventually, unhealthily obsessed) with the concept of hope, so that he could try and find some meaning to his life beyond killing anyone who'd ever shown him any kindness or cared about him. and then after ALL OF THIS, in high school before hope's peak, he gets diagnosed not only with CANCER, but also DEMENTIA. Which, typically, only affects people over 65!!!! he was probably not older than 16 when he got diagnosed!!!! he's then told that he probably has less than 6 months to live. he tells hajime this whole speech about how he realized all he wanted his entire life was to be loved by someone, and he didn't want to die alone, but then says that he was just quoting something, curious to the sympathy it would get him (i don't really believe that, but THAT is a nagito analysis topic. back on topic again…)
then he gets invited to hope's peak. he tries to refuse, but they insist, and so he finally agrees. but then, during his second year, junko starts to ruin things, and yet ANOTHER person he started to care about is killed right before his eyes (chiaki). of course, then, he goes on to bring as much pain and despair to anyone he can under junko’s brainwashing
he's fully convinced that he's a curse, and that he's not worthy of living.
——————————————————————————
"ok….. what’s your point??" you didn’t ask???
the difference between nagito and makoto is that makoto took his grief and made it into motivation, while nagito took his grief as a personal reflection, and spiraled down into a mental decline.
i think the main reasons for this difference is that, first of all, nagito's trauma has been his entire life. since he was a little kid up to even currently (when he's around 21-22), all he's done is cause or witness death anywhere he's gone. watching your childhood pet AND parents die before your eyes has to impact development in some kind of way (not to mention he was entirely alone since ELEMENTARY SCHOOL)
makoto had a very average, but nice life to that point. he had nice parents that were together and happy, his little sister that he's super close to, and while he didn't have any super close friends, he wasn't on particularly bad terms with anyone (as shown by his reaction to seeing sayaka, and sayaka's reaction to knowina him). all of the trauma and death he experienced happened to him when he was an adult (even though he thought he was 16-17 when the first killing game happened, he was most likely 18-19 and junko can erase memory but not alter brain development. so.)
second of all, makoto had support from his friends! he had the other 5 survivors, and then during the second game, he had kyoko and aoi to support him and get him through it. nagito grew up experiencing all of this grief and guilt and trauma entirely alone, even during the killing game he was in. his classmates treat him awfully even before he has his mental break doing incredibly unhinged shit like blowing up the gym (it's so. hard. to defend him sometimes.)
i still haven’t gotten to my point oh my god i talk a lot. BUT THE POINT IS they cope extremely differently, and arguably have different levels of trauma, but they experience the same survivors guilt. both of them feel like they don't deserve to be alive, and that others around them deserve so much better than they do. i really feel like makoto would be able to empathize with nagito's struggles with survivor's guilt and self worth, because he feels the same things! clearly, not to the same extent, but again, that goes back to the support makoto got during his experiences. it's one of the many MANY reasons i think makoto and nagito would be able to help each other heal, instead of being unhealthy like a lot of people say. (of course it depends on when because obviously, servant nagito meeting ff!makoto would not be healthy. that man would skeeve makoto out MASSIVELY but that dynamic is also an interesting one to explore.... ANYWAY.)
nagito's obsession with hope would give him an unhealthy attachment/idolization of makoto at first, but i really do believe that after he recovers a little more from junko's influence, a few days with the guy would make nagito realize that they're way more similar than he thought and that respectfully, makoto isn't as amazing and godly as he thought LOL
——————————————————————————
TLDR: they have very similar experiences, the only difference between them is that makoto had support that reminded him he wasn't to blame for the deaths of those around him, while nagito was isolated from EVERYONE from a very, VERY young age, and it led to his mental decline. i really believe they would be able to help each other heal a lot and that's why i love them so much :(
Tumblr media
side note: genuinely nothing makes me as sad as nagito and his dog 😞 every time i mention them i get so upset

OKAY! So I checked out the snippets for the thh fan musical that is currently in development and I gotta say that I’m liking what I’m hearing so far.
So in case anyone else wants to hear them too, I made a list of links to each snippet. I also labeled them in case there’s a specific song or character anyone wants to hear about. I’ll also include the titles of the songs if I see that they have them (which doesn’t mean that some songs are actually untitled. The titles might’ve just not be revealed yet, or I haven’t found them).
First off, I’m just gonna put a link to the creator’s tiktok account because there’s still more than what I’m going to be covering here. Stuff like updates, introducing the actors, and songs for other dangan installments.
Alright, now to the songs (in no particular order):
- “A Million Lifetimes Away”: A Byakuya solo song that sounds like it details on his backstory.
- Killer School Life”: A song sung by Monokuma as he introduces the concept of the killing game to the students.
- “Turn it Around”: The “trial 1” song. It sounds like it’s sung when the class suspects Makoto of killing Sayaka, and other classmates (mainly Kyoko) try to push the suspicion off of him.
- Untitled Kyoko song: Like the Byakuya song, the snippet covers Kyoko’s backstory. It also sounds like it may be a duet with Makoto (who joins in at the end).
- Untitled Celeste song: Sounds like it’s Celeste trying to defend herself during the third class trial. It sounds like the song will go over her breakdown.
- Untitled Sauna Battle song: The Mondo and Kiyotaka duet. The snippet takes place before the actual battle, so it’s the two airing their grievances with each other. It even has a double-entendre that could be seen as a sexual innuendo.
- “Deep End”: An Aoi solo song. Sounds like it’s Aoi expressing her mentality throughout the killing game and how she’s struggling to stay optimistic through it.
- Untitled Chihiro song: Takes place during Chihiro and Mondo’s meetup in the locker room. Chihiro sings about her appearance and identity and how she’s struggled with it.
And while we’re at it-
- Untitled Mondo song/reprise: A reprise of the song above but sung by Mondo. Sounds like it takes place after he’s discovered as the blackened during the class trial. He sings about the night of the race and how he sees himself as weak.
Side Note: I don’t know how exactly the musical is going to approach Chihiro’s identity, but it sounds like they’ll be deviating from the game in that regard. Because it sounds like at least Mondo still refers to her with she/her pronouns after everything is discovered. Just thought I’d share that bit of info for the people wondering.
Back to the list:
- “Soundproof”: A Sayaka and Leon duet. Takes place during the actual attack and murder and illustrates both of their thoughts during it.
- “World Ended”: The Junko villain song. Mainly details Junko’s backstory and explains how she found everything super boring so she destroyed it.
- Untitled opening number: Like it says, it’s the opening number! Everyone sings about how great Hope’s Peak is and how they’re so excited to be attending.
- “My Sacrifice”: The Sakura solo song. Takes place during Sakura’s confrontation with Monokuma, and she sings about how she’ll start to fight back to stop the killing game.
- Untitled Trial 4 song: Like the other trial song, it’s a musical rendition of something like a non-stop debate. The snippet itself goes over the whole “Byakuya, Toko, and Hiro being suspects” thing.
- Another Kyoko song: I don’t think it’s the same as the other Kyoko song mentioned earlier. If I had to guess, I think it takes place when Kyoko and Makoto find Jin’s skeleton in the box.
- Untitled Toko song: Toko sings about needing to repress Syo and not letting her “take the wheel.” The snippet also briefly goes over her backstory.
- Untitled Hiro song: Silly Hiro song that doesn’t have anything to do with the plot. It’s him going on about his conspiracy theories (like how ghosts and aliens are real). There’s also an earlier version of it on the account that has some dialogue at the beginning if people are interested in checking it out.
And lastly, I thought I’d just group these four together. Monokuma sings a little song before each execution. They’re all similar with some lyrical and instrumental changes based on who’s getting executed and what they did:
Trial One- Leon
Trial Two- Mondo
Trial Three- Celeste
Trial Four- Alter Ego
And that should be it! I hope I got them all. By the looks of it, they’ll be going along the lines of the game/anime itself instead of the stageplay in terms of story. And there still should be a few more songs since the gofundme mentioned there will be 24 tracks, and this list only has 21.
The cast album has been recorded and is currently still being edited. I don’t know if any of the songs on this list have changed in the span of time between the snippets being uploaded and the actual recording of the songs. But I’m excited to see how it will turn out.
Until then, if you’re interested in the project, I recommend going over the creator’s account and giving them some support. It sounds like this is coming from a place a passion, and talented creators and performers are working to make this a great product.
Anyways, that’s it from me!

Well, I finished Madoka Magica. Absolutely loved it, it was way darker than what I was expecting from a magical girl show (granted the only other magical girl show I've watched is Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha but still, even that wasn't as dark as this one) and the overall plot wasn't what I was expecting either. I thought the plot was going to be about a creature recruiting young girls to be magical girls to help take down this great evil threat to the world, but it really wasn't that at all. Instead it was about really thinking about what you want before you make a wish, and the eventual consequences that come from making said wish. That's not something that you see everyday. It's even more fucked up since the main cast is middle school girls, who obviously won't think about that kind of stuff until it's too late. In Mami's case, she really didn't have much of a choice since her only other option was to die, thanks to the car accident she was in. One thing that I really find to be interesting about this show is that all the magical girls except for Mami made a wish for someone else. It didn't have anything to do with what they themselves wanted. And thanks to making that wish, they each suffered because of it (Sayaka, Kyoko, Madoka, and Homura). Sayaka ended up having her soul corrupted because of the despair she was feeling from being a magical girl, Kyoko's father lost his mind and killed her family before killing himself, and Homura literally has to relieve the same events on repeat until she can successfully stop Madoka from becoming a magical girl. Madoka's wish had her turn into a literal God and rewrite the world as they knew it all so that magical girls everywhere wouldn't have to suffer anymore. And as a result, nobody remembered who she was, not even her own family (well, her baby brother seemed to remember her). This show was all kinds of pain from start to finish.
Now, having said all of that, allow me to talk about Homura, my favorite character in the show. I have sooo many thoughts about her and the absolute tragedy of her story.
When we first meet Homura, she comes off as being the stereotypical transfer student who is good at everything she does, and everyone loves her. She then has Madoka take her to the nurse's office, and asks her a rather strange question: "Are you happy with the way things are now? Do you love your family and friends?" and when Madoka replies with the obvious answer of yes, Homura seems relieved and tells her to not change. This one line immediately made me interested in Homura, because it seemed like there was more to her than meets the eye. The next time we see Homura, she's trying to kill this cute looking creature, who Madoka and Sayaka end up saving, with the help of Mami. This probably came across as cruel to a lot of people. Why would Homura try and harm this cute looking creature for? After this, Homura continuously shows up whenever Madoka and Sayaka are in danger. She doesn't appear to be a friend, but at the same time she's not really an enemy either. Then episode 8 happens. Madoka nearly makes a contract to become a magical girl, but Homura kills Kyube before anything happens. It's then revealed that Homura isn't even from this time line! Which explains some things about her up to that point. Whatever happened in her own time line was so fucked up that it made her pull all the stops in protecting Madoka. Then we get up to episode 10, where Homura's backstory is revealed. Shockingly enough, she was a completely different person from the one we see in the show. She wasn't good at everything, she was shy, etc. We learn that she was saved by Madoka and Mami, which explains her devotion to Madoka. The three of them quickly become friends, but Homura becomes really close with Madoka. Sadly, this tale ends in tragedy as the most powerful witch kills Mami, and eventually Madoka too. Homura goes back in time to try and stop that from happening, but it sadly happens anyway. Each time she's with Madoka and the others and tries to explain to them what will happen, they all end up dead. So, the final time it happens, she makes a hard decision: to not tell anyone and to do things by herself. This way nobody else has to get hurt. She relives the same events idk how many times, all so that she can save her best friend, someone that she met because they saved her life so long ago. Homura's story in a way ends in tragedy, but not because she and Madoka die. No, it's because in the end Madoka chooses to form a contract and become a magical girl so that way no other magical girl will suffer again. And since Madoka has the strongest potential out of all the magical girls, her wish ends up making her into a God. As a result, she's no longer a living, human being. Nobody remembers her except Homura. Homura did all that she could to prevent that from happening, and in the end it still did, even if the outcome was somewhat different and better than the previous timelines. And honestly? After seeing all of that, idk how anyone can hate her character. She really doesn't deserve hate at all, if anything she deserves all of the hugs in the world😭.

NOTE ABOUT MY NEXT TWO POSTS:
I had a couple people comment on my last post asking for a couple characters, so I've decided to upload 2 posts tomorrow. One of the requests was for part 2 of Makoto pictures, and I felt like, since I had already done one for him, that his earlier-than-planned part 2 could be squeezed in with my next actual post.
So keep on the lookout for that, and let me know who you want to see next!
Next up: Sakura Ogami!

Hi, no one asked for this, but have some Nathan Bateman x Reader headcanons/ drabble ideas
A/n: Howdy, I know it's been a hot minute since I posted something of my own, but I've been a simp for this stupid-genius bastard for a while now, and here is just a dump of the thoughts that are bouncing around in my head about Bitchman himself :)
Fem!Reader x Nathan Bateman btw
Content warnings: Nathan for obvious canonical reasons, the good kush🍃, swearing (probably), suggestive material that is +18 (If I find a minor on my lawn I swear to all that's good that I will tell your parents/guardians that you're being inconsiderate of boundaries Ya lil gremlins), that's all I can think of for now, but let me know if I missed anything! <3
Tumblr media
Pretty little homemaker Reader? Yeah. Pretty little homemaker Reader who got to happily retire once they married Nathan and be a domestic, feminine person without care? Even better!
Pregnant Reader where we learn about what it’s like to be expecting with him (spoiler: he is a pain in the ass up until you have to snap at him to be considerate to the person who will give him his child, then he surprisingly gets his head out of his ass to try and be better for you and y'all's child).
Reader and Nate have to go to a gala or some shit for the first time as an official couple then there’s a bunch of questions from the press and coworkers about y'all being together, and he is basically like "Honey, I own the planet, whatever you don't want public won't be public. it's that simple, now let me show you this ice sculpture that looks like a dick if you look at it right >:)"
Stoned Nathan and Reader. She does it for fun, he insists that he’s gonna be chill, but he is such a fuckin nerd that he babbles about how scientifically interesting weed is while Reader is just like “M’kay babe, keep talkin’, you’re cute like this iloveyou” and Nathan kinda just buffers for a minute before then is high as a kite when he realizes "oh fuck this woman makes me feel things and I'm too high to try and hide it iloveyoutoo"
Nathan getting genuinely confused when Reader treats Kyoko with basic dignity despite her being an AI, and Reader basically being horrified with how he treats her and actively goes out of her way to be nice to Kyoko. Does Nathan learn to be nicer to his AI? Does he still treat them like shit and it bites him in the ass? YOU DECIDE!
Bossy!Reader who is one of BlueBook's communications experts, and he can't wrap his head around the idea of Reader, the same lady who doesn't hesitate to call one of his ideas bad-shit crazy, being the same lady who easily schmooses his business partners for him until he sees her in action at a conference they both have to attend. Nathan then realizing that he likes his organic women to be a lil fiesty.
*forewarning that this one is a little self-indulgent:* Nathan and a Psychologist reader? I would pay Money to watch those two bicker about everything. like come on, Nathan's fuckin' nuts and Reader deals with emotionally/ mentally troubled people for a living. Just imagine BlueBook deciding to assign him a psychologist since he lives in the middle of nowhere all the time, and Reader taking one look at him and being like "Oh, he's not just a narcissistic rich man, he's a narcissistic rich man with a literal god complex.... interesting :)))" then proceeding to actually help him regardless. Bbgorl wouldn't know what hit him.
That's all for now folks, as you were 😊
....psst, hey, if anyone is interested in reading something with any of these ideas I would happily see what I can do to make a lil somethin'-somethin'. Also, if you wanna take a stab at writing any of these, all I ask is that you tag me so I can get some credit and so I can see y'all's awesome work <3

Oh No, It's Again
Summary: Makoto wakes while everyone slumbers and makes his way to an unlocked kitchen and sees her standing there, bag of Cheetos in one hand and a pair of chopsticks in the other, munching them a little too loudly, and when she holds the bag out to him, he doesn’t take it.
If I kill you, will that stop everything?
She grins.  Won’t know if you won’t try, will you, lucky boy?
~
Inspired by this post, but absolutely nothing like it.
Mostly.
Rating: M for graphic depictions of violence and general Danganronpa reasons.
AO3
The first time Makoto falls down the garbage chute, still locked to a desk that, along with him, was meant to be crushed by a compactor, he reminisces about when he first came to Hope’s Peak Academy.
Then he hits the floor head first and has just enough time to hear the cracking of his skull, the sharp shattering of his spine, before everything goes black.
~
The second time Makoto falls down the garbage chute, still locked to what is probably that exact same desk, he has a sharp sense of déjà vu.  He muses on this for a few seconds, brow furrowing, until he lands, again head first, his neck snapping at a sharp angle.
This time, though, his eyes are open, and he sees everything, but not enough.
~
Makoto doesn’t eat a lot of food, but he finds himself throwing a lot away.
A lot of trash.  A lot of excess.
He feels bad about it, at first, because it’s just such a waste of food, and there are starving people all over the world, and it doesn’t really matter that they for some reason have unlimited food in Hope’s Peak (maybe, if they weren’t in the middle of a Killing Game – and what sort of person refers to this as a game? – it would be great to bring everyone here.  Unlimited food!  No one would need to starve! But first they need to get out of this alive)—
It’s not like he knows why he’s doing this.
Just something…something in him tells him that there needs to be more trash.
More trash.
Like it’s some sort of life-or-death matter.
~
It takes at least another seventy-eight respawns before Makoto survives in the garbage chute.
(Then she temples her fingers together and leans forward with an intrigued grin on her face.  Finally, something interesting.)
~
The first time Junko faces the trash compactor, she glances up, waiting to see if Alter Ego will appear to save her the same way it saved Makoto.
~
Sayaka Maizono hesitates before attacking Leon.
He catches her in the attempt, and he attacks back.
She dies in the bathroom of the boy she’d meant to frame, blood-tipped finger trying hopelessly to write her murderer’s name on the wall beside her, everything going black before she can finish.
~
The second time, Junko doesn’t even glance up.  She knows how this story ends.
She also knows how to get out.
Ultimate Analyst, baby!
~
Sayaka Maizono hesitates before attacking Leon, and when he attacks her, she has a strong, strong sense of déjà vu.
Unfortunately, she is not the only one.
Leon cuts her fingers off while she’s still alive, but he’s an idiot and tries to throw them in the incinerator, too.  A few of them make it in, sure, and there’s such a stench that everyone complains as soon as they wake up.  The problem is that not all of them make it in.
Makoto might be a lot of things – he might even be a murderer! – but no one believes that he would chop Sayaka’s fingers off.
Or try to burn them.
~
Chihiro doesn’t ask Mondo for help; he asks Taka.
Mondo, desperate to keep his secret exactly as it is, strangles Byakuya for being a prick.
(She laughs a bit at that.  She’s been waiting on someone to shut him up.)
Unfortunately, without Byakuya to mess with the scene, Mondo’s caught easily.
Kyoko, impressive as always, matches Mondo’s fingerprints to the bruises on Byakuya’s neck.
Before they get to the trial, Jack snaps.  Mondo isn’t killed with the same care and consideration that her other victims were given.  In fact, the only reason they even know that the bloody mess is Mondo is because he’s the only one missing.
(It’s the most gruesome murder she’s seen, and she’s seen a lot of murders.)
Jack cackles as she’s led to her death.
Except that she sneezes, and Toko doesn’t know why she’s being flayed alive with her own scissors.  She doesn’t know why, but she understands, and the despair on her face when she finds out that Byakuya, too, is gone—
(Oh, if only it could be like this every time.  But, then, she’s seen this now.  It won’t be as good next time.)
~
Sayaka Maizono doesn’t hesitate, but she hasn’t thought through the follow-up.
Everything else proceeds as normal, other than killing her at the Class Trial instead of Leon.
She dances herself to death with red hot iron shoes, her screams tuned into music.
(She’d been proud of herself for that one and glad to find an opportunity to finally use it!)
Makoto doesn’t get enough trash in the garbage this time, too distraught over Sayaka actually killing someone, and breaks his neck.  This time, some of his brains splatter out!
(This would be a lot cooler if she hadn’t seen that thirty respawns ago.)
~
Sayaka Maizono succeeds.
Everyone votes for Makoto as the murderer.
She didn’t realize her success would mean everyone else dies.
Rather than graduating at the top of her class like a good girl does, she jumps down the garbage chute.
Now, Makoto definitely has not had enough time to fill the garbage with enough trash to soften that blow, but Sayaka doesn’t land on her head.  She breaks both of her legs and starves to death after eating what garbage can be found.
~
The next time, Sayaka realizes enough to throw herself in the incinerator instead of down the garbage chute.
It’s immensely painful, but it doesn’t last nearly as long.
(She snacks on Cheetos after the Trial, licks the orange dust from her fingertips with a sigh, and resets the chess pieces.)
~
Makoto, tired of falling down the garbage chute, doesn’t sacrifice himself for Kyoko.
Of course, he can’t remember falling down the garbage chute, but something in the back of his head says, Hey, don’t help Kyoko.  You’re going to die if you do, and she’s not worth saving, and for once in his life, he listens.
Kyoko dies, and the only thing they hear before everything goes black is, “Boring,” in the voice of someone who should have been dead weeks ago.
~
Alter Ego steps in to save Kyoko, but Makoto doesn’t have the skeleton key, and she dies of starvation in the garbage, like Sayaka did, only without her legs broken.  Sometimes she yells through the hatch, sometimes she makes it all the way up the ladder and bangs on it, but Hiro’s still alive and he calls it a ghost in the system.
It doesn’t matter, they still don’t have the key, and it’s not like they can convince anyone else to jump down to save her.
(She leaves it running just long enough to hear Kyoko’s wheezing gasp and then restarts the Game.  It makes her stomach churn.  Almost as much as seeing the image of her own skeletal frame mimicked in Kyoko’s body.
There’s nothing fun about seeing someone you love starve to death.)
~
Sayaka succeeds.
Sayaka succeeds, and she doesn’t try to kill herself because even though she didn’t know her actions would cause everyone else to die, she did, somehow, and so she’s prepared for what it means to graduate, what it means to win, what it means to get out alive.
Sayaka looks up at the Mastermind with eyes wide with recognition and hears, “Can’t end the show on one episode!  Sorry, babe.”
(She’s cruel when she says that Sayaka’s band members are all dead.  Her despair is warm as a beating heart.)
~
Makoto doesn’t switch rooms with Sayaka, and when Leon goes to meet with her, they have a nice conversation about music, and nobody dies.
Makoto doesn’t switch rooms with Sayaka, but Hina still hides herself with Sakura, and instead of waking up one day to Leon or Sayaka’s murdered body, they wake up another day later to Hina having disappeared and the school smelling of burnt flesh.
The thing is, they all know what happened to Hina, but none of them actually discover her body, so there’s no announcement.
It feels a bit like this isn’t the right ending.
~
(This time, she gives Sakura explicit murder instructions.  No throwing bodies in the incinerator.  You have to die this time, Sakura.
Sakura tries to strangle her instead, which is a fun thought, except that she grins and grins and grins.)
~
(This time, she tells Sayaka that her band members are all alive.  Safe and sound.)
~
Makoto doesn’t switch rooms with Sayaka, and Makoto convinces Hina to sleep somewhere else, and Sakura rips off Celeste’s fake hair, and Mukuro looks up at the cameras with eyes that clearly ask, Is this what you wanted, sis?
~
The next time, Mukuro hesitates before the Spears of Gungnir hit her.  She looks up at the cameras and blinks twice.  Her head tilts ever so gently to one side.  Then her gaze flicks to the spears.  Her mouth makes a small, Oh.
(She hits the respawn button so hard that it nearly breaks.)
~
(It doesn’t matter.)
~
Mukuro hesitates before stepping on Monokuma and decides against it.  She doesn’t know why.  She trusts her sister, obviously, but something says not to provoke her right now.
Even if it is scripted.
~
When Chihiro doesn’t die, Alter Ego is a lot more aggressive.
(Unfortunately for them, she has her own Alter Ego by this point, working in the shadows, stopping them at every turn.)
~
Unfortunately for Mukuro, when she doesn’t get killed by the Spears of Gungnir, Sakura kills her instead.  Grabs her head between both hands and presses together until—
Well.
Mukuro tries to stop her.  Claws shreds in Sakura’s legs with the razor sharp bear claws she’s been given in the place of fingernails.
Her head explodes, eventually.  Blood and brain mixed together all over the walls.  Not as cool as when Jack killed Mondo, of course, but still pleasantly appealing.  It’s hard to even tell the difference between the pink of her blood and the pink of her brains.
Kyoko finds the small bits of flesh under Mukuro’s fake fingernails, notes the gauze wrapped around Sakura’s legs, and puts two and two together.
(Maybe next time Sakura should kill Kyoko.)
~
Mukuro turns before Sakura can grab her head between her hands, but it doesn’t do any good.
Sakura grabs her head between her thighs and smashes it faster.
(She’s not gonna lie – that was impressive.  She should save a video of that just for her own personal use.)
~
Sakura tries to strangle the Mastermind, and a still living Mukuro slits her throat before any harm can come to her.
Unfortunately, this is still considered a murder.
The Spears of Gungnir make a return!  It’s not as fun this time.
~
(This time, she tells Sayaka the truth: There is no escape.)
~
Sakura strangles Kyoko, and none of them are smart enough to figure out that she did it.
Sakura confesses at the end because, unlike Sayaka, she will never find it acceptable to sacrifice the rest of her classmates just to find out the truth.
~
Hina drowns in the swimming pool.
Chihiro is impaled with spears that, really, no one else should have access to.
Makoto thinks he’s seen all of this before, his stomach cramping with nothing but déjà vu.
~
(The Game is boring without Kyoko.
The Game is worse when she has the same memories everyone else does.
The Game suffers because even without her memories, Kyoko can’t be anyone other than who she is.
The unfortunate thing is that this has never worked out for her.  If she lost her memories, she would be an entirely different person.  But no one ever takes her memories.
Yasuke tried, sure, and would have succeeded if he had figured out a way to make it permanent.
Unfortunate, then, that she was the one to figure it out.
It could have saved so many problems.
Not least of which is how bored she is getting with this entire thing.)
~
Makoto wakes up.
Makoto walks into the front room to meet all of his new classmates.
Within thirty seconds, every single one of them is impaled.
He doesn’t understand what’s going on.
Blood trickles from his lips.
He looks up at video cameras and wonders who, in their right mind, would enjoy this sort of thing?
(No one.  She doesn’t even enjoy this.  She just had to do it.  At least once.  Just to see what would happen.)
~
This time, only most of them are impaled.
Makoto and Kyoko are both left alive.
Mukuro tries to pull a Sayaka and write something in her blood, but another spear stabs direct through both of her hands, stopping her.
Even without her memories, Kyoko knows enough to know that Makoto didn’t do something like this, although she doesn’t know how – or why – she knows this.  It’s baked into her blood, after all.
It’s not baked into Makoto’s blood, though.
He drops to his knees and sobs.
(There’s something fun about seeing Makoto break, she can’t deny that.  But even that gets boring after a while.
When Kyoko figures her out, she yawns.  She waves her fingers at Kyoko, who stares at her through the video cameras, and resets the Game again.)
~
Once, Mukuro points a gun at the back of the Mastermind’s head.
Enough.
The Mastermind just laughs.
What’s enough?
The Mastermind resets the Game again before Mukuro can stop her.
(Then she makes some changes in the code so that can’t happen again.)
~
Sakura catches the Mastermind exactly once.
She pops her head between her thighs with a strange sense of déjà vu.
But with the Mastermind dead, that should be it, shouldn’t it?  Everything should—
(She had to know.  She had to know what it felt like.  She planned it so that her hand would fall on the reset button as she died.)
~
Junko resets and she resets and she keeps her memory of every Game and she has clips here and there and everywhere.  When she gets bored, she replays some of her favorite moments, but they don’t have the same appeal they once did.  Unfortunately, she can feel herself growing tired even of those.
And while there are still a lot more versions of the Game she could run, a lot more deaths she could see, she’s….
Tired.
Sure, sure, in a real Game, there would be a secret ending to unlock if she got every ending, but let’s be real here, how long will that take?  And it’s not like there’s a guide for this, or anything like that.
Junko runs the pad of her thumb on the button and wonders just what would need to happen for Makoto to kill someone.
Then, she grins.
~
Makoto figures it out.
Kyoko doesn’t figure it out; Makoto does.
It’s something he can’t even name, something about seeing Junko’s freckles and Junko’s magazines, and it hits him like a wave of…of something.
That’s not figuring it out, of course.
He’d say he was remembering it, but it feels like…like there’s a lot he doesn’t remember.
~
Makoto wakes while everyone slumbers and makes his way to an unlocked kitchen and sees her standing there, bag of Cheetos in one hand and a pair of chopsticks in the other, munching them a little too loudly, and when she holds the bag out to him, he doesn’t take it.
If I kill you, will that stop everything?
She grins.  Won’t know if you won’t try, will you, lucky boy?
~
A complete set.
Junko looks at a complete set and lets out a sigh.
That’s fine, then.
She can be done.
This time, when she resets everything, she wipes their minds again.  Sure, sure, it’ll play like it did the first time, probably.
Unless she makes some adjustments.
~
(Makoto doesn’t know what he needs to do to keep himself from dying.  She’ll fix that.  But nothing else.
That Game wasn’t the most entertaining, but.  Well.
She’ll give them the highlights of the other Games afterwards.  Won’t that be fun?
Oh!  And she’ll reset it and let them out.  A final prize!  Everyone’s alive!
But all of you have killed each other so many times.
That will be fun to see!
Puhuhuhuhu….~)
~
Junko has seen these executions hundreds of times, knew how to beat them after once.  Ultimate Analyst, baby.
It’s only the compactor that she has no real control over.
Of course, by now, Junko knows how to beat it, if she wants, but she’s playing it like she should have that first time.  Instead of pulling out the button and triumphantly pushing it right as the compactor falls (resetting everything and saving herself the pain of being crushed), she lets it fall.
(She has already been crushed by the compactor.  It hurts, but not in the warm, comforting way that having her head crushed by Sakura’s thighs had been.  This way, she’s conscious enough to feel every single one of her bones break, splinter, cut through her fragile skin.  Sometimes, her teeth shove up into her brain instead of simply cracking.  Sometimes both.  Her fingernails split down the middle, tear through her skin.  What a way to go.)
And even still, she looks up.
Maybe Alter Ego will save her this time.
It happens, every now and again.
(Sometimes, her own Alter Ego saves her, too, and she sees the despair of there being two of her entering all of the survivors before she resets the Game.  It was splendidly thrilling the first time, but even that has lost its luster.)
But no.
She set this to end the way it should have the first time Makoto was smart enough to save himself.
It’s not the most painful death.
But it will suffice.
~
When Junko dies, crushed beneath the compactor that should have (but did not) crush him, a red button skids across the floor, spattered with her blood.  Makoto picks it up, only for Kyoko to take it from him.  She comments on how the button itself seems well-used, how this is not a brand new shining button but that the color has started to fade, how some of the patterns around it have worn off from use.  She puzzles over that; it doesn’t make sense that the button intended to let them out should look like this.
But the others don’t care, but Makoto doesn’t care.
Byakuya snatches the button from her hands and marches to the door, pretending to be their leader again when everyone can see that he very clearly wasn’t.
They gather in front of the door.
He presses the button.

Dude I feel so awful for Homura. From Scene 0 it looks like so far (I’m still on day 4) even if Homura gets allies she cannot save Madoka, from Magia Record even a whole slew of Magicial Girls trying to fight their fate Madoka’s fate still could not be prevented.
And its like
Tw grooming
I cannot believe how well Kyubey groomed all the girls and how Mabuyu was able to somewhat realize she was going to be groomed.
I wonder how well represented the way Kyubey’s grooming is, I think its pretty realistic. Of the constant manipulation and switching tactice when the girls dont respond well at first. Of targeting girls who are at their weakest, leaving alone the girls who wont respond, making the girls feel so lonely that they of their own volition find other girls to join them unknowingly continuing the cycle of abuse.
And I never thought about how easy of a target Madoka herself is! Shes the prime target! Kyubey only goes to Sayaka after Madoka’s introduces Sayaka to him, Sayaka did have the foresight to not trust Kyubey which Madoka who was underconfident and believed she was absolutely useless did not. Madoka’s total lack of faith in herself made her a really good target for Kyubey’s grooming and its AWFUL. Its not Madoka’s fault that her STILL developing confidence was taken advantage off like this. And I can imagine the frusteration Homura felt trying her best to undo that grooming and all of it falling in deaf ears, trying to get someone who is being groomed to recognize they are is an extremely difficult task even for full grown adults with experience!
It just breaks my heart that there was no winning for anyone.
And oh my god the horror of realizing Mami was also helping Kyubey groom girls into being magical girls. Mami had no idea thats what was done to her and actually continuing the cycle by pulling other girls to join her.
The contrast of how Kyoko kind of broke away a bit of that same grooming by refusing to recruit other girls unless they were fully informed and chose that decision(which i know isnt a real educated decision but the best decision a teen can make at that time). It kind of shows also how there are diff ways of breaking away from it too no matter how small. Kyoko cannot stop fighting or being a magicial girl as her life depends on it but she IS preventing other girls from following her path by very simply not involving them.
But man, Homura’s helplessness hits so hard. I feel like Scene0 really expanded on that and showed how severly Homura’s mind had broken because it HAS.

T_T Kaito you lovable doof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We sure have been here before, haven't we? The Danganronpa PC is never the lead investigator even though we wind up doing all the work. When we team up with another character, they're the one in charge.
This was most notable with Byakuya and Kyoko in DR1. Byakuya was an ego-centric dipshit. Kyoko was purposefully fluffing up Makoto as a decoy in order to bait the Mastermind into moving against him and opening herself up for counterattack. We also got a bit of it with Kaede assisting Shuichi in his machinations against the Mastermind here.
But it hits different with Kaito. He plays it off like he's doing a Byakuya, but the tone is different. Because Shuichi is different from Makoto.
Tumblr media
By seizing control like this and relegating Shuichi to "sidekick", Kaito is all but saying outright, "You put your skills to work and find the answers - and if anything bad happens because of it, then that's MY FAULT, not YOURS. You take all that blame and doubt and self-loathing and you put it on me, and then you keep doing what makes you special, got it?"
As much as I resent the Kaede/Shuichi rug-pull, shit like this is what makes Kaito and Shuichi's bromance one of the most emotionally powerful relationships in Danganronpa history. Quite possibly the most powerful relationship.
Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars, has a pretty massive ego about him - but rarely in a way that's malicious. He sells himself like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the trick is that he also lives it.
He's far from perfect; He has his character flaws, sometimes fairly substantial ones that impede investigations. He often thinks too highly of others, to the point that he becomes an obstacle to proving their guilt because he refuses to accept the truth. But he goes out of his way to be the best possible version of himself, and encourages everyone around him to do the same.
This is the sweetest, most heartfelt relegating of protagonist to somebody's assistant in the series.

If it's not too much trouble, do you have headcanons for Kotoko/Monaka? I like to imagine post-canon they work out their issues with each other and get to a much healthier place, like, when they're teenagers. I related a lot to Kokoto's toxic relationship with Monaka, I definitely had relationships like that when I was in elementary school too. It's kind of nice to imagine a world where - whether romantically or platonically - they work out their issues and work out, even if that might not be exactly realistic, aha...
Oh MAN do I have post-canon Warriors of Hope headcanons. I really do love imagining these kids and the lives they lead when they come of age.
I try not to use read mores, but this one got way longer than the usual headcanon posts, and it very much is less "Kotoko/Monaca headcanons" and more "elaborate set-up for how Kotoko and Monaca feel about their crimes as teenagers." So more under the cut I guess!
Firstly, some setup. I love adoptive family relationships, and especially mother/child adoptive relationships. So of course I love daydreaming about Aoi "Bleeding Heart" Asahina adopting Kotoko, and it becoming a Kyoko (or Miaya!)/Hina-parenting-Kotoko, friends-to-moms slowburn. SOMEONE'S adopting these children, and it's not Komaru "I Just Spent A Full Year In Solitary Isolation (:" or the "We Taser Ourselves To Decide Whether The Serial Killer Fronts (:" Fukawas. Hina's upbeat, she keeps it light, and unlike Makoto "Spotless" Naegi, she understands the guilt of attempting/committing mass murder. Kyoko isn't quite any of that but deep in my heart. Through The Power Of Love And Elaborate Metaphors About Her Relationship To Her Father
And I mean. I'm going to be honest. Monaca's, like, 10. She spends three days in space before she goes 1. Wow this sucks 2. I did not in fact prepare enough materials to live like this indefinitely. I'm like 10. I packed enough for about 13 hours and thought I was good Forever. I need more marshmallows.
So it takes Monaca all of half a week to admit her failures and crash land somewhere on earth. The island with the Remnants? Misaki and Takumi? In-universe versions of the V3 students as adults? Personally I'm a fan of Yasuhiro and Kanon adopting her in the world's absolute weirdest fantasy. What matters is SOMEONE finds her. And we get Mod Loves Sappy Adoptive Relationships V2: Now With The Green One.
Because listen. Listen. These are kids. They have committed heinous, unforgivable crimes of extreme ethical concern, and they are also ten years old. Their only frame of ethical reference is a manipulator and abuser so good at what she does that she ended the world. People generally remember this with the other Warriors, but they almost always set it aside for Monaca, so I want to be clear: Monaca Towa is redeemable. Because she was 10 years old, and the moment she was out from under the thumb of the people who taught her how to do these cruel and unusual things, her first plan was Run Away To Space To Escape The Things That Have Happened Here. They're children.
THAT MEANS A LOT OF GUILT. NO ONE HAS EVER NOT BECOME A PUDDLE OF REGRET ABOUT SOMETHING THEY DID IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
In general, I actually think Kotoko struggles with guilt the least amongst the Warriors. Firstly, I think having a parent who understands and can help her come to grips with what she's done from a very personal place really helps her work through it. But I also think Kotoko is low-empathy in general. I think eventually, she comes to understand intellectually what she's done wrong, but I don't think she ever struggles with the idea that she shouldn't have done it. I think she would be very practical about the circumstances that she was in, and in her mind, well. What else was she supposed to do? She'd been abused all her life. She was up against Junko Enoshima. Obviously what she did was wrong, but any other kid in that situation would've, in Kotoko's mind, done the same.
On the other hand, I believe Monaca would get hit with guilt very intensely once she finally processed everything she'd been through at high-school age, but that she would absolutely keep that under wraps and act as though it was meaningless to her.
Monaca is, in my opinion, a compulsive liar. You can see that in a lot of canonical ways, but I choose to extend it a bit to headcanons - it's not that she Doesn't need a wheelchair, it's that she has days when she needs it and days when she doesn't, and pretending she never needed it at all gives people a huge shock. She didn't plan to not kill herself with the rest of the Warriors as a prank; she really planned to do it, but people look at her when she says that. It's a defensive mechanism, and a method of feeling in control. At least I can choose for them to hate me by lying and being terrible, instead of being hated when I haven't done anything.
So I think, when she is finally faced with the enormity of what she has done, Monaca does what her first instinct is always to do: runs away from it and lies herself into culpability. Of course I killed all those terrible adults, and now that I'm almost their age, I'll just die instead of becoming one of them! That sort of thing. I think she traps herself into her own persona, no matter how hard she tries to improve, because Monaca is a child who internalizes until she breaks.
So when Kotoko and Monaca meet coincidentally at high-school age. Ho boy. Kotoko who still sort-of blames Monaca who blames herself, and neither of them completely aware of how to comfort a person or how to hate a person in a way that isn't lethal...oh the GROWTH. The Strawberry Wine by Deana Carter of it all
