Also Ik Yuichi literally wants to be a samurai but he’s still a little starry-eyed at the idea of honor rather than the actual sacrifice and hasn’t fully thought it through.

Have I created an entire story/au on usagi(s) crossing over into rottmnt?? Yes. Yes I have. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me write more than 2,000 words of a fic per year so I might make this whole trapped rabbit thing a series of posts?? I have a lot of ideas here.

yuichi/leosagi/samurai rabbit hcs that are specific to my fic (dubbed graves au)

- leo and yuichj are both aroace and transmasc and will never kiss on the lips bc they think its nasty and gross

- yuichi doesnt curse bc his auntie didnt like that kinda language when he grew up and he thinks being crass is immature and he likes acting like hes mature , also hana being his little sister he doesnt want her to pick up bad language

- yuichi has gotten fired from most jobs bc he cant help but argue or yell back at annoying and entitled customers and the hidden city has a Lot of entitled customers

- also:

- chizu and kitsune are in neo edo while yuichi and gennosuke are in the hidden city

- yuichi and gen both hold a distaste for neo edo as both of them had to leave due to the ppl of the city being shitty to them in some way

- leo and yuichi both think romance is gross

- they are, however, in love

- or will be

- but not in a romantic way

- theyre the basement yard podcast

- yuichi’s love languages are acts of service (bigger one) and quality time

- yuichi is taller than leo (5’10 compared to leo’s 5’7)

- yuichi is a sumatran striped rabbit and arctic hare mix, meaning he’s mixed japanese-indonesian ! his mom’s side (usagi side) are all arctic hares while his dad was a striped rabbit , however his dad was raised fully japanese and so was yuichi

- yuichi has a winter and summer coat :] his summer coat more closely resembles sumatran striped rabbits

- yuichi’s first friend in neo edo was chizu, however they havent had much contact since he moved away since she is too busy with the neko ninja

- he and kitsune met in neo edo bc she stole his wallet but laughed at him bc he didnt have anything inside except for a few syrup packets and two joules

- theyre best friends now

I love the idea of R!leo actually being super similar to 2012 leo but very subtlety

Like he actually likes to meditate but whenever he’s around his brothers he keeps switching into his “performance mode” so he never really finds a good time to

(Maybe he does it at night instead of sleeping?)

He also loves gardening but again no that much time and he lives in the sewers

It’s possible but also kinda hard to maintain plants down there (thinking specifically bonsai here)

This is of course part of my leochi agenda and I think it’d be really funny if yuichi did not have a green thumb at all

Proof? First episode of Samurai Rabbit he destroyed almost all of the crops his auntie was growing

Anyways this is a long winded way of saying that yuichi likes to hang with Leo while he’s gardening in the future where they’re both finding easy comfort in one another (domestic bliss~)

hi! Do you have personal headcanon about Yuichi? (and maybe about his friends)

You have no idea how glad I am to be asked this! I have many actually:

Yuichi Usagi

Yuichi got his scar from Spot. I 100% believe they didn't get along at first and bro got a little fiesty w him and he ended up losing some of his eyebrow. It was a silly thing and Yuichi wasn't mad about it in the slightest. The scar is something fond to him now, it reminds him of how far they've come.

Speaking of Spot I like to believe he's a tokage that's passed down through generations. He was Usagi's first and he was then given to others once he passed. Again this would maybe explain why they didn't get along at first, he misses Miyamoto Usagi. I don't think he was officially given to him until he was about maybe about 7 or so.

This one's a bit darker but with how important honor is in Japan and how little Yuichi's parents are mentioned I'm thinking they broke away from the whole samurai thing. Maybe Auntie convinced them since she still brings them up once. When someone's shunned they're never brought up which is something Yuichi surprising does...and it can make sense honestly. Since he cares so much about becoming the best samurai of course he wouldn't think highly of them for running from that.

Since Yuichi grew up with comics depicting Miyamoto Usagi's life as a samurai/ronin I think he definitely got inspired by them. He got into drawing and is a pretty decent artist now because of it. You can't tell me he doesn't have oodles of drawings he's done of his ancestor. And as a kid maybe even made little comics of him and Miyamoto Usagi going on adventures together. His Auntie probably helped him bind his pages together and found it all very cute, 100% supporting everything.

The Squad

Having been grown an orphan and under ninjas I bet Chizu doesn't have much, if any, experience with any holidays. She was probably forced to train nonstop during those days. So one big memory for her is finally celebrating the new year outside with all her friends.

Kiyoko is probably Yuichi's number one sparring partner being such a power biomech. Sometimes he manages to dent her but it's treated as a win, not something to freak out over. Though Kitsune sometimes acts protective over her little sister when this happens and goes after Yuichi. Yuichi has to spend a long time assuring her everything is okay.

Kitsune spends a lot of time with Yuichi, they like to come up with crazy ideas and then execute them without really thinking things through. Usually Chizu has to dive in and get them out of trouble. She scolds them after but is easier on Kitsune, definitely not for biased reasons.

Gen cleans everyone's weapons when they're not looking, he doesn't like the idea of grime piling up on things they use often. He doesn't let them see though because he knows they'll make it harder for him from then on.

I've been doing Playlists for Usagi Yojimbo Characters for a while now. The idea was find inspiration for drawings, and with a little bit of luck, get ideas for my own reinterpretation of Usagi's story.

Anyway, I'm really proud of how they turned out so far and wanted to share some of them.

Chizu: I read someone headcanoning her as a trans woman and I love that for her, she is also lesbian because she deserves a girlfriend who is also a fox and name starts with a k

Kitsune: She is also a woman lover I don’t blame her and I don’t make the rules, I also added the nonbinary flag because I can see them just not really vibing with the whole man/woman binary and being fine with any pronouns

Usagi: He is very gay and looses all function around cute boys (especially if said boy also likes blue and fights with katanas), he is also a trans boy and asexual, he takes pictures of Spot’s judgmental stares and writes homophobic captions on them because it’s funny (think the homophobic dog memes that were made by her two gay dads)

Gen: I just liked the idea of him being aroace and really into romance at the same time, he picks up on Chizu and Kitsune’s obvious feels for each other before they do, Usagi still has no clue even after they start dating, he sees their constant handholding and cuddling as them just being close bc he’s like that with them too, Gen just wants to shake him in the air until the pieces fall into place in that blank head of his
