Honestly they could have handled Roy and Jaime's regression in so many other ways. It would have been so much better if at the bar, Jaime just quietly asked Roy to come to Brazil with him too, before Roy got a chance to say any of the stupidity that came out his mouth. Didn't even have to be romantic, just Jaime wanting to spend off time with two of his favorite people, simple as that. Instead we got what we got because the writers somehow thought THAT was the way to go. SMH!
Yeah, it is so wild why they thought what they did was a great spin on treating a love triangle.
Like, the fucking fact they didn't fight over her and didn't ask her to choose and how Jamie treated Keeley and her relationship respectfully WAS THE GREAT SUBVERSION of the trope that I had so goddamn loved.
If they had really wanted to do something subversive and unexpected they should have given us OT3 or actually made them platonic found family/soulmates, but yeah, having characters regress into dumb manchildren for some cheap last minute drama, that was the way to go …
And also like "Roy and Jamie were getting along too well, so we had to fuck this up!"

having thoughts about Irving. this man thats so by the book, that knows the code by heart, that lives and breathes lumons rules, the man that in the outside world has had a military past so of course his first instinct after having his memories erased is to latch on to the structure that the system gives you. knowing he is an artist as an outie makes so much sense, his search for meaning is so important to him and he tries to find that meaning in his work, he goes by the book all the way till the end, until the system gets in the way of the love he has for Burt, the love that gives him a new meaning and purpose. hes willing to sacrifice any security, balance and safety that the protocol provides him, he gets radicalized by his love being torn away from him, by knowing he purposefully denied burts affection in the name of the system and the system punished him for it. idk how to articulate this but the "meaning" he saw in his work felt almost religious, and in the end it was a meaning specifically crafted in order to make people not think about how much they hate their work lives, empty and hallow, a meaning that falls apart when it betrays the person that believed in it the most.
