We miss you over at FanFiction!! Just writing to say that I have a snow day today (as a teacher) and I'm thinking about the chapter in One For The Money where the gang has a snow day and they go sledding! Memories : ' )

Oh my goodness thank you so much for writing this! I loved writing that scene — I wanted something to help establish the gang’s budding friendship (and Daphne warming up to Fred 😏) and sledding on a snow day off school seemed like a perfect way to do that!

I miss being on Fanfiction! 😭 I have been so incredibly busy with my real life I haven’t had any time for writing! It’s so frustrating! I’m hopeful that things will slow down in the spring so hopefully everyone won’t have to wait too much longer for the final few chapters of “Book of the Dead!”

Two Scooby Doo headcanons.

The gang during lockdown.

This is under the assumption that they sheltered in place together.

Fred went a little bit stir crazy without a proper mystery to solve. He made it three months before he started solving the mystery of who’d been rummaging through the bins. Now he leaves food out of Mr Ringtail the Raccoon.

Daphne started an internet shipping business. Food, clothes, medication. That sort of stuff. Mostly for OAP’s. But it was open to anyone who wanted to sign up.

Shaggy ate. And ate. And ate. He single handedly keeps every shop in business with his gratuitous appetite all throughout the lockdowns. And then some.

Velma got caught up on her reading. She read every single Holmes story. And she now has a dissertation on why the popular interpretation is a load of codswallop.

Scooby loved lockdown. He binged Netflix. He loves Is It Cake? and, much to everyone else’s confusion, Stranger Things and Wednesday. He likes the food on display. Plus he knows it’s not real. So it doesn’t bother him.

Scrappy got roped into Fred’s imaginary mystery. He now dreams of fried raccoon burgers. No thanks to the rabies shot he had to get after Mr Ringtail bit him on his neck. He also intercepts every meal Fred leaves out for the vermin.

The gang’s favourite musicals.

Fred’s favourite musical is Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. He likes to dance to Balaga. And Dust and Ashes always makes him cry.

Daphne favourite musical is Hamilton. She has a crush on Lin Manuel miranda and Jonathan Groff. And she loves the costumes.

Shaggy’s favourite musical is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s about a chocolate factory. The chocolate balances out the horror.

Velma’s favourite musical is Heathers. She’s always had a crush on Jason Dean.

Scooby’s favourite musical You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. It’s got Snoopy in it.

Scrappy’s favourite musical is 13. The “being treated like a kid” theme hit him hard. Plus Debra Messing in the movie and the music are both amazing.

This a bit embarrassing, since I know not everyone is a fan of this ship. But I'm a Shelma shipper, I recently got back in Scooby Doo and I need the help of other Shelma shippers, and also more experienced Scooby Doo fans.

What episodes/films are shown in this video? For example, the dance scene from Jeepers it's the Creeper here is remade into the more modern animation. (I got bored so I did some digging last night and found it haha) I also know some of these films/shows, but definetly not all (like I know Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get a Clue, and the film with the band Kiss, Scoob, Mystery Inc, Scoobynatural, Camp Scare, Alien Invaders and Moon Monster Madness).

Just my luck lol, I stumble accross this sweet, cute video and the comments are turned off. That's what prompted me to ask this 🤣

I honestly cried when they called Velma lesbian. I've been shipping Shelma my whole life; it's so stupid but now I feel like empty, them saying my favorite ship is impossible and homophobic lol :(

Here's a tip: it's not. Because to no one's surprise in that movie not only Velms' sexuality gets rebooted but her whole personality too. She was 2 seconds away from salivating over that girl. She behaved like the horniest dudebro you can think of. Absolutely unVelma like. That's not Velma.

So they couldn't change the sexuality without changing the whole personality and that says a lot. Because Velma isn't Johnny Bravo.

Shelma is canon in some comics, got an amazing episode in Be Cool and great moments in Shaggy and Scooby: Detectives. Stick to your stuff. This new movie is evidently not made for classic fans of the franchise.

This sucks because a bisexual Velms (without HAVING TO CHANGE Velms' personality) wouldn't have been a bad idea. Because the Lesbian Velma take isn't a new headcanon, yeah, but do you know how did it start in the classic fandom? Enterely based on her looks. She wasn't pretty or submissive, so she "obviously couldn't get a man so she's gay".

I can't possibly think of anything more homophobic than that.

We've had Velma fighting clichés for decades. Showing that your sexuality isn't a personality. Showing to small girls, like I was, that even if you weren't the prettiest or the nicest you were as deserving of love and friendship like Daphne. That feeling confident is something born beyond your looks. And that that confidence is your better tool when you wanna ask, in this case, a guy, out.

I am bisexual, yet all my friends in the Scooby Doo fandom are straight and we all agree in one thing: Velma being straight was groundbreaking. She was the antithesis of a cliché. She made little girls feel confidence in their looks. Nothing about Scooby Doo ever needed to be updated. Not the characters personalities. Not their looks. Their sexualities even less.

(Because don't think for a single moment Warner cares about gay people. This is, as always, just marketing so they can sell a movie)

Well, time to read Shelma and Frelma fics again! Or rewatch one of my favorite shows.
