Meltan is a pokemon that can be shiny during special events, but gigantamax Melmetal will never be legitimately shiny. The only way to get a gmax Melmetal is through pokemon home, and this Melemtal is always shiny locked.

are you able to do shiny wooloo? didn’t see a faq at a glance so hopefully that’s okay to ask- if not no worries!! ty for your time and i love this blog sm!!! :D
not sure if i've ever gotten a request for a shiny pokémon before. i don't want to make a habit of doing requests (and you're right, i probably should make an FAQ where i tap the sign to read the blog description, with how many asks i get of folks showing up, not reading the description, and sending in requests [actually, if they're not reading the blog description, why would they read an FAQ?]) but since i love wooloo and this is a one-off that is technically not out of natdex order because we've already seen wooloo, i'll do it just this once:
Tumblr media
however i will be playing the favoritism game here. if you want a shiny pokémon, it must be 1. a pokémon that i like and 2. one that is easy to get and use the model for. there. now nobody else will ask
Tumblr media
i'm probably gonna do gmax forms once we hit the end of the galar dex! at the very end of calyrex, that is—i have no guarantees i'll be able to get all the models for the gmax forms, but y'know. i've had the same issue with just Regular pokémon. i also don't remember all the pokémon that even Have gmax forms—i'd have to google it. and i will, when we get there (probably) (someone may have to remind me)
and now, curse of one THOUSAND nose ratings because it's been forever since i've answered any asks (WHOOPS)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
long story short, i managed to figure out a repeatable method for getting pokémon to work. this repeatable method does still take more work than it normally would for pokémon whose models i can find easily, but it still works. also, this method will only work up until the end of gen 8, and is likely not applicable to gen 9, which will require some more work and a new repeatable method to be discovered. i'm putting in Way too much effort here! but. y'know. every pokémon is someone's favorite. i keep telling myself that

POKEMOB!!!! ive been thinking abt this nonstop for like, weeks. check it out, though! lots of little guys! reigen's special move where he chucks his nacli at the foe as hard as possible! teru's furfrou's matching wig! other stuff! this post has 18 images
@skypiea helped SO much with pokemon choices for this also!
see under the cut for full teams and further explanation!!! please check it out
mob - ralts & espurr. later, silvally. mob isn't a trainer, and his pokemon don't fight. they're just little guys. type:null was originally toichiro's (who used various pokemon alongside the human claw grunts), mob met it in aftermath of the divine tree once everything in the domination arc was over. (it still doesn't battle or anything. big fancy lapdog full of love.)
ritsu - unovan braviary, bisharp, and alakazam. going along with his student council status & top-of-the-line grades, ritsu's a skilled trainer with some powerful pokemon. braviary and bisharp were his most used pokemon early on- they're sort of representative of his student council thing (note braviary's unobtainable psychic type form)- but abra was his first pokemon, a counterpart to mob's ralts. it only evolved first during ritsu and the esper kids' attempted escape of the 7th division claw building.
reigen - murkrow, greavard, thievul, and nacli. reigen's not a trainer, his pokemon are both pets and assist him with work. with the exception of nacli, dark and ghost types are his specialty (psychic-adjacent types, but Not actual psychic types). his murkrow imitates him constantly. greavard is uu-chan, of course, but this time he doesn't get eaten by dimple (uu-chan is still feeding on reigen's soul). one of nacli's possible abilities in the games is "purifying salt", which cuts damage from ghost moves. reigen's nacli, of course, has sturdy. and to quote kite, re: thievul: "Reigen: would an untrustworthy guy have THIS [sends out the thief pokemon]"
teru - furfrou (shiny), zoroark (maybe shiny i cant decide. burple), and togepi (later togekiss). before his encounter with mob in season 1, teru didn't actually use his pokemon in battle often- they're rare, flashy, and/or powerful, but they were lackeys and status symbols just as much as his underlings at black vinegar were. his relationship with his pokemon improved after he started to work on his humility, leading to the evolution of his togepi.
shou - morpeko, latias, and (mega) blaziken. he's a super tough trainer, and he cares about his pokemon So much. he rides his latias like she's a surfboard
serizawa - swoobat & bewear. serizawa didn't really have pokemon growing up after his self-imposed isolation- the stufful he had as a kid was taken care of by his mother once that happened. he met his woobat a while after joining claw, and it evolved sometime after the world domination arc. bewear isn't entirely his- but after the world domination arc, he reconnected with it and takes care of it some of the time. the rest of the time it's serimama's gigantic housebear
tome - two (later three which become a single magneton) magnemite, orbeetle, eventually elgyem. i think magnemite just fits her vibes... plus it's a bit ufo-y, innit. she HAD to have a bug, and i mean..look at orbeetle's gmax form! and it has the telepathy ability! unfortunately, despite her best efforts, orbeetle's telepathy ability hasn't proved useful for finding human telepaths. she caught elgyem on new years, on the way back down to the car. tome can hold her own in battle, but training for battle isn't something she's focused on.
dimple - is a yamask! his big powerful form is cofagrigus, obvs. his mask is usually blank save for the cheek spots, since he has no memory of his life as a human. the mask does change to fit the (LOL) and psycho helmet cult as well. he places his mask on someone's face to possess them like any other yamask, to others it just appears as the regular red cheeks, but to folks who can see spirits they see the mask. when possessing someone, his expressions will show on the mask as well.
whew, i think that's everything i wanted to talk about. thanks for reading!

Well, the Teal Mask DLC is leaking and...
Sinistcha is more or less as expected, no huge waves
Dipplin doesn't evolve again after all. Sad. I suppose Khu was alluding to something from the Indigo Disk with the caduceus and White Forest riddles. I still love Dipplin though, I should have seen the golden shiny coming considering Gmax Flappletun's syrup, but for some reason I was expecting green. I have my shiny Applin named Toffee ready to go
What the fuck as if Ursaluna wasn't already hideously overpowered they gave it a better version of Scrappy. Even though the new form doesn't get STAB on Normal moves anymore.
Not feeling the Loyal Three's shinies

my opinion on terastallizing and tera type pokemon.
this is pokemon's fourth major battle gimic, and honestly they're starting to feel very similar to each other. I think terastal is trying very hard to be like mega evolution without being mega evolution. everyone knows how much fans want mega evolutions back. but in my opinion, I like how the battle gimics have felt unique from each other, instead of making pokemon look even more like the exact same game every year.
here's my opinions on the other battle gimics for context.
mega evolution looked cool as fuck and was awesome from a casual perspective, but it only affected a small handful of pokemon and made those few pokemon insanely overpowered in competitive play. it also took away your item slot, so any cool item gimics were unusable for the pokemon you wanted to mega evolve.
z moves tried their best to balance competitive by making every pokemon have access to a powerful once-per-battle attack. this looked pretty cool, and you gained a steady amount of new z crystals throughout the main story so it always felt fresh. but again, it took away your item slot. also, the animations for z moves are really hit or miss. especially the type based ones. because they have to work for every single pokemon who can learn a certain type of move, most z moves just have the pokemon in an idle pose moved around awkwardly without any animation. the specific pokemon based z moves look far more polished. but after you've seen it once, it just gets obnoxious seeing the same animation over and over again.
dynamax and gigantimax are probably the most competitively balanced gimics. you have a once per battle effect to make a single pokemon giant, getting a huge buff to hp, and being able to use basically a z move for three turns. some pokemon change their form during a dynamax, becoming gigantimax, but all this does is add a secondary effect to their stab gmax attacks. while it isn't as cool or flashy as megas or z moves, I personally like dynamax. it adds another layer of strategy, especially in competitive doubles. plus, unlike with z moves where certain pokemon still have overpowered moves, dynamax effects all pokemon pretty much evenly. also, it doesn't take up an item slot! in sun and moon, you'd sometimes see no z moves be used at all in battles, because giving up an item to use a powerful move only once in battle wasn't always worth it. but now, not only are the three turns of dynamax more impactful in the battle as a whole, you can still have items like focus sash or life orb to make those insanely powerful attacks even more powerful.
now, here's my opinions on terastal. my opinions will probably change once I get my hands on the game, but right now, it seems pretty cool. when you terastallize your pokemon, they turn all crystalline, grow a shiny crown made of gems, and gain a buff to moves of their type until the end of the battle. apart from looking cool and giving a boost to stab moves, it also changes your type! and yes, that also changes your weeknesses and resistances. apparently these pokemon with tera types different from their normal type are rare, usually only found in a raid den (similar to a max raid dens from swsh). this adds a whole new level of strategy. maybe you'd spend time looking for a strong pokemon with a specific tera type, so you can perform a massive switch up on your opponent. "what's that, you tried to use an ice type move on my dragon pokemon? well guess what, my dragon pokemon is fire type now." also, it looks as if every single pokemon can use this gimic, and every single pokemon can be one of the 18 different tera types. I have no idea how this will affect competitive play, but it seems like it will make very weak pokemon more viable. also, rather than being recharged at the end of the battle, terastal only recharges at pokemon centers or at specific locations on the map. so it adds another layer of strategy in normal gameplay.
personally, I think terastal looks pretty cool. again, my opinions will probably change once I play the game, but as of right now, I think this is on par with if they had just brought mega evolution back instead.

hmmm maybe i should reorganize my pokemon bank so that pokemon i'm saving for breeding projects go AFTER my living dex
basically right now i've got
Box Space 1: functional boxes (actively trading, pokemon for future breeding projects organized by region, box for stuff i want to mass release, box for stuff i need to evolve, like 8 boxes of random shit for trades)
Box Space 2: sentimental value boxes: old teams from previous games, my shiny collection, event pokemon, pokemon i bred/trained for battling, pokemon i am just very fond of and have had for years
Box Space 3: Living Dex pt 1
Box Space 4: Living Dex pt 2 + my boxes for alternate forms, gender differences, all gmax capable pokemon, regional variants, and hat pikachus
Box Space 5: empty
Box Space 6: empty
Box Space 7: empty, except for one box at the very end that has some miscellaneous Alcremie forms i have doubles left of from when i was collecting all the alcremie variants
so i'm thinking i should move the breeding project repository pokemon to Box Space 5 maybe. that way all the stuff im moving around constantly or don't mind trading away on the GTS is right at the front, and i don't have to worry as much about running out of room in Box Space 1 because i can't bring myself to release all of my charmanders that were all caught in different pokeballs just in case 'ohhhh what if someday i want one in a nest ball for some reason and i don't have one anymore, aaaa'

Laurel's Gym Challenge
When she was 12, Laurel went on a journey across Galar and challenged all the gyms. Her team consists of Shiny Boltund, Dragapult, Gmax Blastoise, Tsareena, Midday Lycanroc, and Metagross.
Quick sidenote: Laurel's younger cousin, Clover (age 10 at the time), is her biggest fan.
Turffield: Laurel had to make use of coverage moves to take down Milo's Eldegoss. Fire Fangs from Boltund and Lycanroc came in handy.
Hulbury: Boltund swept through Goldeen and Arrokuda. Steenee took down Nessa's Drednaw.
Motostoke: Wartortle knocked out Kabu's Centiskorch with Max Geyser.
Stow-on-Side: Drakloak took out most of Allister's team. Lycanroc won against Gengar.
Ballonlea: Laurel answered all of Bede's quiz questions correctly. Metang sweep for the win!
Circhester: It took the combined efforts of Tsareena and Boltund to take down Melony's Gmax Lapras.
Spikemuth: Lycanroc's Close Combat took down most of Marnie's team, while Metagross knocked out Grimmsnarl.
Hammerlocke: Blastoise took down Gigalith and Sandaconda. Teamwork from Dragapult and Metagross was necessary for Laurel to defeat Raihan's Duraludon.

OC Pokemon Teams
I got this idea from @bloodlessheirbyjacques (their post here), and since I love Pokemon as well as Naruto, I decided to do Pokemon teams for two of my OCs, Aki and Nezumi. (I may decide to do the rest later, but for now, enjoy these two.)
Picrew link for Aki and Nezumi's pictures: https://picrew.me/image_maker/597326
~AKI KAMIYA~
Tumblr media
(1) Garchomp - Her new home in the desert as well as her love interest, Gaara (2) Gigalith (shiny) - Her crystals (3) Centiskorch (Gmax) - Her summons, the centipedes. In particular, Shikade is actually modeled after Centiskorch (4) Maractus - The cactus flower that Gaara gifted her and that she still carries with her (5) Suicune - Also her crystals (6) Absol - Her backstory - being blamed for something that wasn't her fault and that she actively tried to prevent
~NEZUMI CHISAKI~
Tumblr media
(1) Hatterene - Her quiet nature as well as her colors (2) Comfey (shiny) - Flower motif and her status as a healer (3) Alolan Raichu - Her name and animal motif ("nezumi" means mouse) as well as her chakra nature, water (4) Starmie - Also her chakra nature as well as a user of the move Minimize to mirror Nezumi's Shrinking Violet Jutsu (5) Hitmonlee - Her love interest, Rock Lee (6) Sylveon - Also her colors, as well as evolving through love
~
I don't know who amongst you is into Pokemon, but consider yourself tagged if you want to do this. <3

Note
Nemuri Kayama 'Midnight' Pokemon team (pretty sure I haven't done this one yet): A large portion of her Pokemon I choose because they know 'Sleep Powder' and 'Power Whip' (if it's shiny, the color fits better) such as Shiny-Roserade, Tangela, Victreebel, Carnivine, & Gmax-Venusaur. Shiny-Tsareena, learns 'Power Whip'. Shiny-Salazzle, emits pheromones to form a reverse harem of male Salandits (The Midnight Boys from Vigilantues).
Tumblr media
Now that last one- that's the most important addition to ever be made to a Pokemon team.
