Rehabilitation after sub-acromial decompression
This is a generalized protocol and may need modifications. We recommended you perform these exercises under the supervision of your physiotherapist and also stick to your surgeon’s advice.
Phase 1: (1-3 weeks) Goals
Restore non-painful range of motion (ROM)
Retard muscular atrophy
Decrease pain/inflammation
Improve postural awareness
Minimize stress to healing structures
Independent with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Prevent muscular inhibition
Wean off sling
Precautions:
Care should be taken with abduction (with both active range of motion (AROM) and passive range of motion (PROM) to avoid unnecessary compression of subacromial structures
Creating or reinforcing poor movement patterns, such as excessive scapulothoracic motion with upper extremity elevation, should be avoided.

What I‘m doing here is trying to increase movement capacity and exploring weak spots in my current range of motion as well as strengthening my shoulders in angles you easily overlook in „regular“ strength training.

Back in 2011-2012 mobility wasn’t a priority. I was big into heavy lifting and form came second to quantity of weight. At the time I thought I felt great but looking back my body lacked the mobility it needed. I was always in some kind of shoulder and lower back pain and my body was carrying more weight then it should’ve. Fast forward a year later after researching mobility, body weight, calisthenics, yoga, inversions and more, I began to understand how important movement was.
