yoga tips!
anything I thought may help a beginner 💗
✨benefits of regular practice of yoga:
improved strength, endurance, flexibility
lower anxiety+increases in serotonin levels
decrease risk of heart attack and stroke
weight loss (both directly and bc reducing other stressors makes it easier to lose weight)
reduce chronic pain and improve funtional mobility (when combined with meditation)
improved sleep (alternative treatment for insomnia)

✨for your first class:
don’t buy ANYTHING. i get it, there are a million cute leggings, tops, mats, blocks, bolsters, gym bags, water bottles…but you don’t need any of it to practice yoga. at least wait until you’ve attended a month so you know you enjoy it
wear: any comfy clothes you can stretch and move easily in or your favorite workout clothes (leggings, sweats, joggers, t shirt, tank top, sports bra it all works), socks 🧦
(if you’re doing hot yoga, you may prefer looser clothes)
try to go in person if possible. youtube is great once you understand the poses but those first few times your posture improves so much with instruction!
bring: a water bottle and hand towel (put this on the mat as a barrier if instructed to put your face on the mat)
come five min early to lay out a borrowed mat, straps, blocks (or bolsters, blankets if doing restorative), water bottle, towel
remove your shoes 👟
participate to the best of your ability, its not a competition
try the meditation, even if it seems awkward at first
✨now that you practice regularly
try out a new style if you want a greater challenge (or gentler approach)
keep an eye out for pop-up events (often ‘yoga in the park/square/beach’ when there’s good weather) to mix it up
if you’re ready to buy some gear the good trade wrote about a range of environmentally sustainable ♻️, ethically produced activewear (x), mats and other tools (don’t buy through their links if you don’t want them to get commission, just google it yourself)

Practising yoga for the first time
Yesterday I went to clear my mind so I thought it was COOL to practice yoga with my baby at home. I put a video about yoga classes and started. I knew little about yoga so I was willing to learn. my baby did not stop hugging me, he is my BAE and she is always with me.
When we started, the atmosphere was very HYPE. In the video the instructor had some relaxing sounds playing in the background, which gave the class an environment where you could meditate, I'm WOKEN up by the political problems in our country but thanks to yoga I can stop worrying about that.

The instructor began to guide us through a series of postures, pushing us to the limit. But amid the physical intensity, there was a sense of peace. As we flowed from one pose to the next, the music and energy in the room kept us moving it was so LIT. The sound was real, and we could feel our bodies awakening to the power of the music. It was as if the combination of movement, breath, and heartbeat was unlocking a new level of consciousness within me.
At that moment, I realized that yoga was not just about the physical aspect; it was a path to discovery and personal growth. That day, I felt so changed, so refreshed, comforted, and awake from yoga. But my baby was very RATCHER and she hardly let me practice yoga at times, even so, we had a lot of fun.

My relationship with this pose has changed and evolved over many years of practice. At first it seemed absolutely impossible. Just thinking about it seemed to play tricks on my mind. I couldn’t understand how it was biologically and anatomically feasible to survive. But then I tried under the guidance of my teacher and like magic the pathway started to open. Now it hasn’t been a steady progression. The pose disappeared for a little while and it took new technique to bring it back. As for today, my attitude is to practice with no expectation and see what happens as I listen to what my body wants to do. Which one do you prefer? 1 or 2? GARBHA PINDASANA
There are a few anatomical actions that we need to be concerned with in garbha pindasana and kukkutasana. We continue to explore the depth of our lotus because both of the poses require a deep external hip rotation and flexion of the hip joint. If we are doing the full expression of garbha pindasana, then we are also sliding our arms through the openings between the legs in our lotus and folding the legs into our chest. Folding the lotus towards the chest happens by flexing at the hip joints.
The rolling action in garbha pindasana also requires a sufficient amount of spinal flexion. As I often say, round things roll, and flat things flop. If you don’t or can’t sufficiently flex the hips and tuck your head in, your spine doesn’t round enough to roll on it. There are some other considerations below as well.
In kukkutasana, we undo that flexion enough to place our hands on the floor and press up to lift our body off the floor. Here we are required, once again, to access the armpits for pushing into the floor. This requires strength and stability of the shoulder girdle.

How to do Bow Pose? - Dhanurasana
Step by step
1. Lie on your belly, with your hands by your side, palms facing up 2. Bend your knees and take hold of your ankles with your hands 3. Press your pubic bone down, draw your lower belly in and up 4. On an inhalation, press your ankles in your hands, lifting your chest and thighs 5. Slide your shoulder blades down and towards each other to open your chest 6.
