Viksis was curious when the door to his bedroom irised open and Esis came in. Viksis had been getting ready to go down to the City for the day and getting dressed. He made a concerned noise when his daughter walked right over and snuggled up against him, fitting her head under his. "What's this?" he asked, curling his four arms around her comfortingly. Esis didn't say anything for it. "Must be serious," he said at length, "or about another?" Because he knew Esis' heart well enough at this point. He loved her dearly and not just being parent and child they were good friends.
"Yes," she said softly.
"My. Someone who drew the interest of my little spark brained daughter. It might be a Vex," and she laughed at the teasing.
"Nooo," she said as he squeezed her. "And it is less I am interested and more I am aware of his great interest in me," she said.
"Ah. Sit, I need to get your brother dressed as well," and he had her sit on the bed. It was a bed for a Baron but even larger than that as it wasn't unoften their small children joined them in bed and sometimes that number was... plentiful. "Gasknir," he called and went to get his son who was playing with baby Ivo.
"Daddy look, she waves," Gasknir pointed at Ivo.
Viksis looked gently at his sweet, if very stress inducing, son, "Yes. She's done that before. Now its time to get out of your jammies. We're going to the City," and he picked Gasknir up to take him to the wardrobe. As he did he looked at Esis, "So who is it?"
Esis made a soft noise he could only catalog as mild distress. "You cannot tell aunty. At all."
"Oh. It's Misraaks then?" he asked mildly, not particularly surprised. He was old, not blind, willfully or otherwise. He was aware of how the Light Kell looked at his daughter, the way he unthinkingly used honorifics with her he didn't with anyone else.
"What! Is it so obvious?" she demanded.
"To me but I am around the Kell more than most," Viksis said and undressed Gasknir of his soft purple pajamas. "Your aunt hasn't noticed," he added. "She'd be insufferable if she had," he groaned. "Also he's the only person your aunt would be pissy about," he sighed and helped Gasknir into his underclothes.
"True," Esis allowed at length. "He is nice but seems so... stuffy-" Viksis laughed.
"He can be that way, yes," Viksis said.
"He's also a Light worshiper."
"Yes, they are House Light, that is what they do," Viksis said putting on Gasknir's breathing apparatus, which he still hated, and nose tubes for ether. He looked over at his daughter, "Is that a deal breaker for you?" He'd heard of Eliksni not getting together for more petty reasons than a difference in religious practice so it wouldn't surprise him. Especially Esis, who like him was a devout machine worshiper.
"I don't think so," she said. "But if you court a Kell you must do as they do. I don't know if I could worship the Light."
"Misraaks won't care. He also knows I am a machine devotee. He never pressured me to switch despite joining House Light or being a Splicer," Viksis said as he let Gasknir pick out what color tunic and pants he wanted to wear today.
"I also... worry."
"About what?"
"Members of our outfit have been saying things. The twins have been keeping any overly negative communications off the air waves and reaching the House but... I've heard things. About the Kell of Light."
Viksis finished dressing Gasknir. He helped his son put on his tunic and fit his lower hands with gloves as he tended to not mind them and would bang them into things. And of course his hood and cape. Viksis thought it was very sweet Gasknir had a favorite Guardian. The Young Wolf's consort no less! But he always wanted to wear a hood like his favorite Guardian Shin. Once he was dressed Viksis let him go run around again and he went and sat on the bed next to Esis. "Yes, I've heard them too. It's why I've had the twins do that," he said. "You want to know if they're true?"
"I think it's fair I know who he is and getting any personal information out of him you'd think he wanted me to crack the shell off him," she huffed. "Not as though I haven't tried to ask," she rolled her eyes.
"I don't know the full story or the whole truth," Viksis said, "I only know where our stories intersected."
"You knew Misraaks?"
"Knew of him. When our crew ran with the Spider's outfit there was one name you did not say: Misraaks. In the same way Devils did not speak the name of the Wolf Kell Skolas you did not speak of the pirate captain Misraaks." Esis nodded slowly understanding the gravity of that statement. "From what I understood he was a ruthless Captain oh no House. Dumped half his crew and family out in the Reef to fend for themselves."
"And when we became ship bound?" Esis asked.
"By then I believe he was no longer a Captain and subjugated by the Awoken in the Reef," he said gravely. "But I do remember members of Spider's outfit always spoke badly of Misraaks. Coward through violence, easily baited, a fright in a fight, and utterly ruthless."
"The Misraaks now doesn't seem like that man, daddy," Esis said.
"Yes. But that was a long time ago. Before you were born. Before the Reef War even. People change. And it seems Misraakskel has changed for the better. I would not be surprised if his daughter is directly related to that."
"What do you mean?"
Viksis thought back fondly of his own father. A ruthless nightmare of a Baron with so much power it had made the Kell nervous. But when Viksis had appeared in his life and his following children it had done a lot to smooth out those hard edges and jagged points. It was had to be ruthless and horrible when you loved something so precious as a child. "It's hard to be a blood lord and a father," he told Esis. "Because you know what you're capable of but you never want your child to be afraid of you. Having Eido tempered whatever blood lust Misraaks had and it seems to be for the better since I also hear them calling him Kell of Kells." He chuckled when Esis rolled her eyes.
"He will be Kell of Kells when papa comes back," she scoffed. "A story. Nothing more."
"Likely," Viksis agreed. "Did that satisfy you, my dear?"
"Yes. Thank you, daddy," and she got up.
"What are you going to do with that?" he also got up to go get Ivo. The hatchling cooed as he picked her up and Gasknir effortlessly crawled up onto his hip, his lower arm holding his son in place.
"Well he can't even speak to me about anything not work so he'll have to do that first," she said and he laughed.
"It might take a while," Viksis said.
"As if you'd know. You've been with papa for centuries," she huffed and was following him out of the room.
"It still took him almost a full year to act on his feelings," Viksis chuckled. "Well spoken crew leaders are all the same in this regard," he sighed and Esis giggled as they left his room and headed for the teleporter.
"I can wait," she said. "I'm in no rush," she assured Viksis.

Baby Desik opens her mouth and clicks her mandibles together, muttering something.
Saint and Osiris gasp, gathering around their daughter as they anxiously await her first word.
"Da鈥攄a鈥攄ada!" Desik says, smiling.
Saint cries.
Osiris jumps in and hugs her.
"She said it for both of us!!" Saint musters.
Nodding, Osiris lifts his and Saint's baby girl out of the crib, and cradles her. "Say it again! Say dada!"
"Dada!!" Desik says, and she reaches her little baby arms out for Osiris's face.
Saint leans in, tears falling onto the wrapped swaddle around his daughter, and kisses her. "I love you, Desik."
Desik grabs Saint's face, and clicks her mandibles against the metal.
Osiris chuckles. He leans in and presses his nose to her face, rubbing it gently against her. "Sweetheart, you'll always be our special little girl." He leans in a bit more, kissing Desik tenderly.
Desik laughs. She smiles. And her hands move to Osiris's face, holding it softly between clawed fingers.
All is well.
