Worked out a general design consensus for the main squad. Daisy hasn’t changed much since last year, but the others have so I decided to update them. The little white things by their heads are their eyes, as they all got different eye highlights (or lack there of, in Luigi’s case), as well as shading being slightly different.

Happy Headcanon: Oooooh okay, so---

I've never had the opportunity to bring this up, but I've had this headcanon for the longest time, that--- All the princesses (Peach, Rosalina, Daisy, and Pauline ik she's not a princess per say but shush) have nice little sleepovers, where they all hang out at one of their castles for a few nights--- And Luigi is always invited, because he works so hard, but at the same time is so reclusive. They all essentially spoil him, and really give him a space to be himself!!! It also helps because now he has people to talk to besides Mario about things (not that he minds talking to Mario at all)

They have movie nights, and play sports, and go all sorts of places, and eat all sorts of food!

Mainly came up with this hc bc Luigi deserves so much love and support bruh (also, here's a pic my friend @dustin-but-gayer drew like a year ago about this hc)

★ Sad Headcanon: Sad Weg hours,,,

Just Luigi feeling that, despite being just as talented as his brother, that he'll never amount to anything the same way Mario does. He's a little awkward, a little silly, and a lot more apprehensive than Mario--- but he's just as capable, and people treat him like he's not.

The worst part is: there are two ends of this spectrum.

On one end, people are just straight up rude and ignore him and ask for Mario's assistance instead. And on the other end, people will constantly baby him, like just because he's a bit nervous he's incapable of anything (this treatment comes from well meaning people, and more of the people who are close to him, but still, it gets on his nerves sometimes)

He's afraid of forever living in Mario's shadow, and never being seen as his own person.

He's afraid of only ever being seen as "Mario's shy brother" instead of just being seen as "Luigi"

Mini wholesome headcanons for the Bros

Whenever they both hug, Mario has to take his cap off because it always falls off of his head since Luigi, being taller, leans close to him and knocks it off. And now, they have learned to just, be at eye level for hugs or…Luigi bends down some more (they absolutely refuse to not wear their caps because they are absolute weirdos)

Luigi definitely uses a rubix cube as his fidget toy, or maybe even a toy car since he probably messes with the wheels (the toy truck used in their commercial is the same one Baby Luigi had in the flashback)

Mario probably says a lot of puns that hurts Luigi’s brain (Sans and Papyrus dynamic perhaps?)

Mario probably had a lot of bandages on his knees as a kid.

Realistically, siblings fight. And the only argument I can see happening was Luigi wanting a turn on Mario’s games and immediately quitting when he couldn’t get it right.

Mario chews very loud.

Luigi IMMEDIATELY telling that Mario has a crush on Peach before Mario even knows.

Luigi is probably SO clumsy that Mario “Luigi proofs” the house/room.

Mario is not allowed in the kitchen because Luigi says “MY DOMAIN!”

Mario is a perfect gentleman around Peach and always on his best behavior, super chivalrous and polite. One day Peach invites him to play tennis or something, and Luigi has to pull her aside beforehand and be like, “Listen. What you’re about to see is not my brother. Please remember him how he was. Please for the love of god.”

And then she witnesses Mario lose his absolute shit for the next three hours while they go toe to toe, and he’s muttering to himself and trash talking and cursing the ball out and throwing rackets and fuming because he lost and he’s the sorest loser in the whole goddamn world and she’s never seen anyone be so dramatic about losing a game before

After they leave the court he bounces up to her all excited and says that was so much fun and they should host annual parties where they invite all their friends to compete together and she’s so confused and intrigued that she agrees just to see what will happen. And then she decides to name it after him.

Mario/Daisy friendship headcanons I promised to provide!

A popular headcanon for Luigi/Peach is them baking together and it’s usually a very calm activity for them. For Mario and Daisy, however, it would be the exact opposite. It starts out with a simple idea to bake a cake for Peach and Lu to show their appreciation and they go to the kitchen and get supplies, and as they start they both realize that they don’t have any idea how to bake. “It’s fine! There’s cookbooks all over the place that tell you exactly what to do!” Insists Mario, and so they try that at first but since they’re both stubborn asf at times they end up deciding “screw it we don’t need these useless instructions! This looks too easy!” And then they start messing up with the measuring and how long things stay in the oven and long story short a fire starts and everything slowly descends into madness.

They often tease each other about their crushes on Peach and Luigi. Peach will say something sweet to Mario which makes him blush, and after she walks away Daisy leans over with a mischievous smirk, probably commenting on how his face is blending in with his red hat. He covers his face and tells her to shut up (respectfully)

Or when Daisy gives Luigi a kiss on the cheek, Mario childishly goes “ooooooh!” and she pushes him to the ground.

Video games are a battle to the death for these two. If Daisy is in the movie verse I imagine he would introduce games to her which she quickly gains a lot of skill. But of course they’re both super competitive. So whenever someone sees them with controllers in their hands they know to leave the room cuz it won’t take long for the loud screams of pure rage to fill the air.

They also take that completion outside video games. They often have other types of matches such as arm wrestling, checkers, anything that involves an opponent really. It gets tiring to watch at times.

(This is specifically for Wonder) Mario gets the elephant fruit and transforms. He’s mildly confused at first but snaps out of it when he hears Daisy burst out laughing, bending over and holding her stomach. “You look so dumb!!” She shouts through her cackling. Later on in the adventure she gets the fruit as well and looks at her elephant-appearance. Mario folds his arms with a smirk, suppressing some laughter. “You were saying?”

One day Luigi comes home wiping away tears. Both Mario and Daisy go over to him asking what’s wrong. He tries to shrug it off saying someone pushed him on the street earlier, but insists he’s not upset so he tells them not to worry. They both give each other a look. Later that day, after somehow getting some more information, they ring the doorbell of someone’s house. The person opens the door to be greeted by Mario crackling his knuckles while Daisy wields a bat in her hand.

Classic sibling moments where one of them sees a random animal/creature and will point at it and go “that’s you”

After a long day of their absence, Mario and Daisy return home looking absolutely wrecked and disheveled. Their hair’s a mess, their clothes are dirty and ripped, scratches and burn marks on their arms and faces. Everyone else is concerned, but Luigi and Peach immediately scold them and ask what the hell they’ve been up to. They both smile awkwardly and reply “nothing!” in perfect unison. (*cue loud explosion in the background*)

Ok so no specific questions meaning I get to just randomly list some. I can work with that

-The Mario Bros grew up in New Donk. They weren’t born there, in fact they were born in the Mushroom Kingdom, but their family moved after the Shroob invasion.

-The bros’ eyes glow when they’re upset. Not the colors you’d expect, though. Mario’s glow yellow and Luigi’s glow red. For reasons :)

-In my head Mario and Peach’s relationship is a QPR because I’m projecting.

-After the events of SPM, Luigi definitely takes a knack to inventing. Mostly because he can use his skills for good now (because he can tinker with the Poultergust), proving he’s not…that. Anymore

-Speakin’ of post SPM. Luigi is kinda undead now. He’s still alive, but his heartbeat is much slower and his body much colder.

-When the bros first showed up to save Peach, she definitely knew who they were, but she was in so much shock from the whole being kidnapped thing that she couldn’t say anything. She didn’t even know if they recognized her (Mario told Luigi that she seemed familiar. He didn’t know why though)

-Mario doesn’t talk a lot. He talks to Luigi more than anyone, and eventually begins talking around Peach and even Bowser (they got that mutual respect). Despite how little he doesn’t talk, he exudes an optimistic charisma. (Even when he is Not feeling good.)

Somebody asked (sorry man, my phone ain't allowing me to tag you—) I'll give my goofy ass fanon Bowser backstory or whatever.

So basically right

The Koopa Kingdom used to be poor asf, to the point where even as royalty Bowser didn't have much to eat growing up. They were also at war with the mushroom kingdom at the time. The Mushroom Kingdom was much wealtheir at the time, and much more fearless. As Bowser grew up he began to fight in that war, and also stole money and treasure to better the prosperity of his own kingdom, which got him into the habit of stealing things for either his own benefit, or the benefit of his kingdom, which also causes him to be quite selfish at times. Bowser killed the at the time ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, instilling them with fear, causing them to surrender and become cowardly, putting a stop to the war for good, although tensions remained high. Somewhere along the lines, his parents died (probably either from the war or disease lbh) and he became King. But this was widely celebrated, as the Kingdom viewed Bowser as a hero.

He puts up a real though persona to protect his kingdom, and to a certain degree he is an asshole, but that's just how his environment shaped him growing up.

Later down the line, Bowser heard of princess Peach, a human ruler, who was much kinder than the last. At the time of the war, Peach was deep into the Mushroom Kingdom, in a prosperous place where the effects of the war, and even the war itself were unknown to her. By the time Peach beame ruler, it had been years, and Bowser tried to reconcile, but Peach had heard the stories of Bowser, and told him off instead of hearing him out.

From then on, Bowser became obsessed with trying to reconcile with, try to get to know, and yes, possibly court, princess peach.

He puts on a big show for his kingdom, because that's what his citizens expect, and it keeps their moral up, but really, he just wants to talk.

Bonus: This is also the reason he's adopted so many children! Though much better, some parts of the kingdom are still recovering from the affects of the war, and though he can't take every orphaned child under his wing, he will sure as hell try.

Anyways, yeah, that's my silly lil backstory headcanon for Bowser.

I know I don’t normally post stuff like this but why do I headcanon that the only day Luigi is chaotic for is St Patrick’s Day— or, Luck Day as it would be called for Luigi

I dunno- I just feel like Luigi would be more chaotic on that day (willing to pinch people (just not hard and maybe not his brother TvT)

I hope you don't mind me sending you this headcannon, but I have no one else to share it with. Based on his behaviour in the movie we can see that when Mario is upset or frustrated he tends to fold in on himself and remove himself from social situations. It's almost as though Mario feels that these negative emotions are shameful and something he has to hide and deal with internally/privately, and not something he needs to burden others with. It's kind of like his own 'ruleset' for his emotions.

But the weird thing is that to Mario those same rules do not apply to Luigi. Mario wants a world where his gentle, kind little bother has the space to express his feeling and emotions, positive or negative, and the idea Luigi might bottle those feelings up (the way Mario does subconsciously) out of shame would be a grave injustice in Mario's eyes. Mario would rather Luigi cry openly on his shoulder than hide how he's feeling. If anyone has a problem with that then they have a problem with big brother Mario.

Basically Mario admires and defends Luigi's ability to wear his heart on his sleeve, but sees those same traits in himself as a weakness/failing. He cannot let those negative feelings show, but he will fight for a world where his brother and friends can without fear of judgement. Obviously Luigi is keenly aware of Mario's nature and seeks him out when he's hiding himself away. And while he can't break Mario's stubborn resolve he's slowly encouraging Mario to be more open when he's feeling bad. He doesn't have to be the stoic, happy hero all the time, because even when he's at his worst he's still Luigi's hero.

^ Yes! this! BUT if I may ramble on a bit about my own theory... I think that there is a reason Mario sees Luigi's sadness as "more excusable," and it's rooted in the slight differences in how he and his brother feel sadness. While Luigi's low points have an undercurrent of fear, I think Mario's low points have an undercurrent of anger. This anger is by no means out of control, and ninety-nine times out of a hundred it's justified, but in most instances where he is dealing with sadness there is a little hint of resentment directed at his circumstances, at an oppressor, or at himself.

But this is not a bad thing! Like I said, his anger is not out of control, and is often wielded for good, helping him stand up for himself and those he loves, and persevere despite all odds.

However, Luigi's meek, fearful sadness is unobstructive, nonthreatening, and, most importantly, simple. So long as you banish that fear– assure him he and his family are safe and well– he's happy.

Mario isn't quite like that. He's headstrong and full of dreams, desiring so much more than simply to feel safe. He can't just be assured that everything is okay and feel okay again.

This, plus the fact that "anger" is seen by a majority as a far less forgivable emotion than "fear," inclines Mario to bury his feelings and self-isolate. His sadness... compared to that of his brother... is unpleasant and difficult to work with, combative and unwavering, and he doesn't want to burden anyone with that.

But like you said, Luigi is keenly aware of Mario's nature, and is determined to see to it that his sibling is okay.

What is it like to have them as boyfriends?

🔥 - He loves to give gifts.

🔥 - That thing you were looking at with interest from outside the shop’s window? Consider it yours a couple days later as a surprise gift. He kind of overdoes the gifts a little on your birthday, though.

🔥 - Just be careful if you need to watch over your weight, because he’s totally bringing you ice cream or treats whenever he can. Let him know if you can’t eat those things, he’ll back down because he wouldn’t want to bother you.

🔥 - Would totally tell others about you, and how awesome you are and how lucky he is to have you when he sees the chance. But don’t worry, he’ll stop himself (most of the time) before a ramble begins.

🔥 - He would give you the most beautiful and elaborate bouquets of flowers for special occasions. If you have any favorite flowers, they’re guaranteed to be there.

🔥 - This. Man. CANNOT. Say. No. To. You. He’s physically unable to. Use this power wisely.

🔥 - Doesn’t mind PDA. You could pick him up in a hug, spin him around and he’ll welcome it without issue. He’d actually feel a little cocky on the inside, because to him it’s almost like wordlessly bragging about how he has you.

🔥 - If you’re not one for dinner nights outside, then you’ll have the most perfect ones at home. Candles and everything.

🔥 - He has an extensive, mental-recipe book that he’ll use to cook you almost anything. Whether it be an Italian dish he’s familiar with or some other type of cuisine, he’ll make it for you; dessert included (though he might actually ask for a little help from Peach for anything that might resemble a cake even slightly).

🔥 - He’s also a pretty good cook, might I add.

🔥 - Loves movie nights with you.

🔥 - His favorite part of movie nights is getting to cuddle you, or being held by you like he’s a teddy bear. He loves either of those options, he won’t complain at all.

🔥 - Do be warned, all that physical contact tends to make him fall asleep on you rather frequently.

⚡️ - Unlike Mario, he’s not as big on gifting things. He’d rather show you his love and care by being there.

⚡️ - Do not be mistaken, he 100% has some surprises ready for you when a special day is coming up or he knows you really want something. His brother just kind of gets carried away.

⚡️ - He actually quite likes having the more unconventional dates with you (granted that it’s safe, of course), if that’s something you’re willing to participate in. He likes to try new things to keep it fresh and create the more valuable, unforgettable memories with you; and hell, he might even discover a new like for himself.

⚡️ - He’s not too big on PDA, it makes him very shy but he doesn’t really mind more subtle gestures like giving/receiving quick kisses on the cheeks or forehead when you’re not in heavily populated areas.

⚡️ - However, he really enjoys holding hands in public, he’ll do it with a grin. He thinks it’s the perfect way to proudly show everyone else that you’re with him without being too direct.

⚡️ - Talk this man’s ear off with your interests. Just do it, he loves to see that glint in your eye that shows you’re in your element. He’ll listen carefully, ask questions and might even get into that thing himself, doesn’t matter how “dorky” you or anyone else thinks it is.

⚡️ - Likes to engage in philosophical discussions with you if you entertain him, he won’t really do it with anyone he’s not close with fear of being called weird, though.

⚡️ - He might not be too big on PDA, but it doesn’t really matter because you can do anything with him once you get home. He loves when you play with his hair and whisper sweet things into his ear.

⚡️ - Actual sleepyhead and Mario doesn’t hold a candle to him, it can be the middle of the day and he’ll fall asleep in your arms. All of those soothing touches have him out in no time.

⚡️ - Likes to leave you little, hidden notes with encouraging words.

⚡️ - Has a separate set of fancy outfits and cologne for your special dates.

⚡️ - Might get a tiny bit jealous of Polterpup if you give the dog way too much attention.

⚡️ - He ADORES movie nights with you.

⚡️ - Doesn’t matter if the movie you’re watching sucks really bad, he’ll find a way to point out or say something extremely funny about the film you’re watching so you both can remember the night as something more than ‘it was bad’.
