Do you have any idea how heartbreaking it was to realize, moments after posting yesterday's post on Determination is Magic, that I'd missed the 7-year anniversary of this legendary rip? Like, I've had this request sitting in my drafts for a while, it was meant to go up in a few days from now, yet here I am with egg on my face having missed its birthday in favor of a My Little Pony rip. Ugh, well, alright, better late than never - sitting right alongside The 2:28 Collab as another rip from the same game, Ripping Video Game Music​.​.​.​.​.​.​At Night is an absolute standout rip, and one of my fondest memories from the original Christmas Comeback Crisis event all the way back in 2016.

In a way, Ripping Video Game Music​.​.​.​.​.​.​At Night is a bit of an amalgamation of a bunch of different things I've covered on this blog already. As a smaller-scale medley, the rip was done entirely by the legend himself Nape Mango, who I've previously established as "the GOAT" back with Chillin' Like A Villain - though he's a lot less active on SiIva nowadays, he has an immense knack for good sounding shitposts. The guy was firing on all cylinders during Season 1 and 2 in particular, also being behind Battle! The Trainer Inside Your Head!, another Christmas Comeback Crisis-themed rip from that time that I absolutely adore. Beyond Nape Mango though, the soundscape of Pokémon's fourth generation games is well explored on the channel, with rips like the aforementioned The 2:28 Collab, Eterna's Cocoon, and even rips made this year like Rearranging Furniture in the Underground Secret Base. Put simply, the jazzy sound and distinctive set of instruments featured in the game are beloved by fans and rippers alike, and for good reason.

But crucially, what Ripping Video Game Music​.​.​.​.​.​.​At Night reminds me of most, is the same feeling I described back with It's Snowy but its snowy: its a rip that feels celebratory without being overly triumphant. A lot of the content surrounding the Christmas Comeback Crisis was very triumphant, very much so cheering us in the audience on in excitement over the start of this all-new big story event. Yet in the moments between, we'd get rips like this: rips that, while still feeling like big celebrations, ask us to sit down and reminisce, rather than stand up and clap. Just about every joke featured in its jazzy, smooth-flowing arrangement is one that was made legendary through that original season of SiIvaGunner: Flintstones, Snow Halation, Puzzle Room, mm2wood, We Are Number One - hell, that last one is likely even a reference to how it was Nape Mango himself who *started* the WANO meme on the channel! Its a rip that, even back when I first watched it, gave me this immense sense of communal joy - a toast to everything the channel had done, yet not one tinged with bittersweet melancholy like File Select Fusion Collab or other rips from the Season 1 finale.

SiIvaGunner now has been running for over seven years - and it's been seven years and a day since Ripping Video Game Music​.​.​.​.​.​.​At Night was uploaded. The continued existence of the channel doesn't really feel like something we need to worry about anymore. Yet back then, rips like this felt like a special kind of thank-you, a reassuring hug to tell us that SiIvaGunner was only just getting started. And above all, that celebration like this is all part of the Christmas spirit.

Salut la compagnie, Je m’attaque au blog plus tôt cette semaine et j’ai bon espoir de le sortir à temps ! Je suis de retour dans un état d’esprit proactif et ça commence par sortir mon blog à temps. Je reprends là ou Kate vous a laissé avec notre séparation le lundi matin. Elle partait pour Te Aroha avec un mal de tête carabiné pendant que je me dirigeais vers Mount Ruapehu en bus. J’avais un petit pincement au coeur de laisser ma Choupette sans son chauffeur dans ces conditions sur une route qu’elle ne connaissait pas. Je savais que d’une certaine manière, quelques jours de séparation seraient bénéfique à notre couple. On y a réfléchi et la dernière fois qu’on a été séparé pour plus de 24 h était pendant mon weekend à Fontainebleau avec Paul en avril 2022. Nous sommes passé d’un couple longue distance à un couple très très courte distance (temps et espace) Le voyage en bus a été un sacré périple. J’étais à l’arrêt de bus à 8h20 et je suis arrivé à Ohakune (petit village de skieurs au pied de la montagne) à 16h. J’ai dormi tout du long ou presque. Jane m’a gentiment pick up à l’arrêt et puis est allé prendre l’apéro chez une amie. J’ai mis mon temps à profit pour faire une balade jusqu’au supermarché et préparer notre souper. En l’absence de mon assistante en chef (Kate) et suite à mon refus de toute aide de la part de Jane, ça m’a pris une plombe de préparer à souper. J’ai fait des Poke Bowl. ça a été notre nourriture de prédilection les dernières semaines avec Kate. Je me suis dit que Jane devrait y goûter. J’ai assez mal dormi cette nuit-là à cause d’un cauchemar, un excès de sommeil dans les dernières 24h et le fait que j’avais un appel avec Paul à 6h du matin. Je devais avoir un peu peur de le rater. Une heure de discussion est une fenêtre de temps bien trop courte pour aborder les innombrables nouvelles. Je n’ai pas eu le temps de parler de sa copine/à sa copine (étant donné qu’elle était dans la pièce). J’aurais dû réclamer un petit coucou. Dans tous les cas, une très chouette façon de commencer la journée. Il s’avère que Jane écrit également un blog quand elle est à la montagne et que j’ai eu le privilège de pouvoir y écrire quelques lignes sur la journée de Mercredi. J’ai donc copié-coller son blog de mardi et le mien de mercredi. C’est en anglais donc accrochez vous mais n’oubliez pas de profiter de cette collab exceptionnelle.

Jane’s blog : 10cm of fresh snow overnight brought the base to 247cm for the 2023 season and it’s only the 15th of August. This year the change to an El Nino weather pattern has brought almost weekly top ups of fresh snow to Turoa making for some awesome skiing. (sorry Craig)

Today was no exception and with only 500 or so folks on the hill, the skiing until lunch was some of the best Turoa can provide. Clear skies, great visibility and nice powder provided some whoop whoop moments. The Movenpick had a bit of a delay opening with the Giant not opening until around 12 and the Hight Noon not opening at all due to Avalanche risk. We had some amazing runs before noon. Benoit our Belgian guest had his 1st board for almost 4yrs and thoroughly enjoyed some great Turoa turns. He thinks he’s a lucky charm but I reckon timing is everything and around here you’ve just gotta roll with the weather. Snow arrived around 12.30 on the lower Mountain and this meant that it was very hard to see much at all let alone snow conditions, and where you were going. I had the worst run of the season today off the top of the Giant and over onto the bottom of bread run where there was sheet ice making doing turns impossible on the ridges and the small gullies when you could see/find them provided some respite. Truly traumatic it was. Luckly I had Benoit waiting for me at the bottom of the treacherous run just in case I needed rescuing. What was I thinking

My blog: The day started well because I had my first chat with my godson since I left. I called for his 12th birthday. It wasn’t that easy to find the subject of conversation but I made it work. His mum told me he was delighted to hear he was getting a call from New-Zealand. I went for an early stroll to the supermarket afterward in order to pick up wraps to accommodate the leftovers for our lunch. We have been living off them for the last four meals and we are not complaining because it’s pretty tasty. Crispy asian chicken with a salad of veggies, a homemade eggplant chutney and all that wrapped in a tortilla is something to make you wish lunch comes faster, even on a day skiing. We made it up to the ski field after solving the usual dilemma imposed by the forecast, is it worth going up there? Well I’m glad we did. Even tho the chairlifts opened gradually throughout the day and the overnight wind had created big snowdrifts, the morning conditions were as good as you can hope for on Mount Ruapehu. As long as you avoided the spot exposed to the wind where a crust of blue ice was the only thing that managed to stick to the mountain, you would have a delightful ride. I found a little parkour made of mostly good powder and tried to improve my turns and speed by doing it over and over. The run started with a tiny half pipe made of snowdrift on one side and icyish snow on the other. Then I was dropping/jumping from the track in a pile of fresh snow. I was picking up speed and trying to jump the little ridge created by the mucking machine. I won’t detail it all down here but you got the picture. Jane on the other hand rode with a friend all morning. The weather was average at first so they went to change their ski goggles and ended up sitting down for a little bit and sip on a hot chocolate. I guess there is no place where hot chocolates taste better than in a high altitude restaurant. Snowfall arrived with the afternoon like yesterday. During lunch break, feeling pretty lazy after my two wraps and peanuts, I was battling inside to decide if I was motivated enough to fight the cold. I did end up letting Jane drive down while returning to my snowboard. The first chairlift after the breal is the hardest because you don’t have the body warmth brought by your previous run. It quickly appeared to me that I didn’t make the best decision as the weather was really packing up. By my fourth run of the afternoon snowy ice was sticking to my goggles, the snow was wiping any part of my face that I couldn’t cover and I was surrounded by white. On my way down, I didn’t see the half pipe where I skied a dozen time the same morning. It felt like somebody pulled the ground from under me. I ended up on my butt laughing at the situation. It was time to wrap up and go. I hitchhiked my way down and got picked up by a local fella that is in the importing ski gears business. He offered me a beer as I was climbing in the car covered in snow, which I accepted (it would have been rude not to). There was heavy snowfall almost all the way down. When I arrived, Jane told me that there had been a crash on the road to Turoa skifield which was now closed and they also decided to close the chairlifts. It made me more at peace with my decision of an early bail out. Now the day is about relaxing with a potential walk depending on the forecast. I’m not going to lie, chances are low. I’m lying in front of the fire, the cat is sleeping by my side, a grey rainy cloud turned the luminosity right down in the room and Jane opened the wine. Je dois ajouter que je suis finalement aller pour une balade le long de la rivière où j’ai pris une photo d’un arbre sur un éperon rocheux voir en description.

Jeudi, la montagne était fermée à cause de fortes chutes de neige pendant la nuit (et tout ce que ça représente comme travail d'entretien) et des conditions météorologiques très moyennes dans la matinée. ça avait peu d’importance au final parce que je suis allé à un cours de wool spinning que Jane organisait en milieu de journée avant de reprendre la route vers le nord. Le but du wool spinning consiste à travailler la laine pour qu’elle passe du stade “fraîchement coupé du dos du mouton” à “prêt à faire un pull”. Il y a plusieurs étapes dans ce processus mais celle qui demande le plus de coordination est l’utilisation de la roue. Basiquement la roue tourne à l’aide d’un bras de levier actionné avec une pédale à pied. Ce qui dans le même temps entraîne une bobine qui enroule les poils sur eux-même ce qui leur donne de la résistance. La difficulté réside dans le fait de garder le rythme avec le pied tout en employant la bonne gestuelle manuelle afin de créer une corde avec une épaisseur homogène. C’était une chouette introduction à un de mes potentiels choix de vie : “homme au foyer”. Sur le chemin du retour pour Pukekohe, on a écouté à 3 heures d’interview de Michael Pollen. Je pense que le podcast à généré un brin de curiosité vis-à-vis des psychédéliques chez Jane. On a vraiment passé 4 belles journées ensemble et j’espère pouvoir remettre ça au plus vite. Je suis à un score d’une semaine de méditation consécutive et 47 jours en tout. Ils disent que ça prend un mois pour créer une habitude. Je pense pas l’avoir fait avec assez d’assiduité pour que l’amorce de la tâche se fasse sans friction.

Marie Lebouc est en Nouvelle-Zélande. Marie est une ancienne étudiante d’échange des Robinson et aussi la famille d’accueil d’Alex Norvill (mon frère d’accueil). On était donc tous invité à souper chez les parents (Jamie inclus) pour l’occasion. L’ambiance était bonne et tout le monde avait des choses à se raconter. Vendredi matin, je suis allé à la piscine avec Marie. La natation, c’est encore plus difficile de s’y mettre que la course à pied. Si tu démarres un peu rapidement, tu as l’impression d’étouffer et les bras qui lâchent. Après une dizaine de minutes j’ai trouvé mon flow et éteint mon cerveau. La sensation de relaxation à la sortie de l’eau est incomparable avec n’importe quel autre sport, et en tellement peu de temps. J’étais prêt pour la sieste mais malheureusement je me suis forcé à retourner au bureau de Kate pour chercher du boulot et faire d'autres brols (comme écrire mon blog). Marie est descendue à Hamilton avec sa maman d’accueil pour regarder un van qu’elle espérait fermement acheter mais il s’est avéré qu’il n’y avait pas d’eau dans le radiateur pour des raisons inconnues ce qui l’a complètement refroidie. Le soir après avoir tapé la balle une demi heure sur le terrain de tennis, on a reçu Marie et Lauren à la tiny house. On s’est bien marré. Les sujets de conversation tournaient un peu girly de temps en temps mais j’ai quand trouvé ma place dans cette petite soirée entre filles. Laren nous a bien fait rire parce qu’elle nous a dit qu’elle avait vu sa maman le jour même et que sa maman lui avait annoncé qu’elle voulait faire un trip psychédélique pour ses 60 ans. Je remets le contexte. Sur le chemin du retour de la montagne on a écouté 3 heures de podcast de Michael Pollen (le gars qui a écrit le livre que je viens de lire sur les psychédélique). On dirait que ça a suffit pour susciter sa curiosité. J’ai dit à Jane que je lui offrirai le livre. Il faudra que je follow up sur ma promesse. On a fait des pâtes fraîches carbonara qui étaient délicieuses.

Samedi on a eu l’occasion de faire de la poterie dans l’atelier de Mark avec ses deux roues de poterie. C’était une chouette nouvelle expérience. Tout le monde à eu l’occasion de tourner quelques pots. Il y a de la marge pour le progrès ça c’est certain. Je pense qu’on se fera de petites sessions de temps en temps à l’avenir avec Kate. Dernière nouvelle excitante (pour nous) est qu’on a passé notre certificat de grimpe en tête aujourd’hui (dimanche) à la salle d’esca. On peut maintenant exploré toutes les voies. Kate était stressée mais elle s’est très bien débrouillée. Sa chute en tête était belle! (obligatoire dans le cadre du test). Le reste du weekend se résume à : film, tea au lit, méditation, dîner chez Cathy, coucou au grand-parent et tâches ménagères. Voili voilou les ptits gars. Ce sera tout pour moi. Profitez des photos. J’ai fait l’effort pour la première fois de prendre des photos avec mon téléphone. Elles sont de moins bonne qualité mais ont leur charme quand même. Bisousss.

ABOUT THE FEST/RULES & GUIDELINES

The intent of this fest is to create fanworks around the general theme of Baz’s “erotic gropefest” imaginings. This can look however you want it to: a peek into Baz’s fantasies; a romantic night in with Simon; a “deleted scene” in a canonical fade-to-black moment; a deep dive into the trauma that kept Baz and Simon from intimacy; an exploration of monster play in the bedroom; an AU in which Erotic Gropefest is the name of their punk band...Chase your bliss and have fun!

-All content and media types allowed

-Snow For Christmas and My Rosebud Boy compliant content is welcome

-Collabs are allowed but not required-if you’d like to collab and don’t have a partner, I can help to match you

-Works can be in any genre, as long as they are in keeping with the spirit of the event (PWP, angst, crack, fluff, etc.)

-This is a SnowBaz event

-Works do not have to be mature or explicit, but keep in mind that the theme of this event does lend itself to NSFW works; for that reason, only those 18+ at the time of signing up may participate, regardless of the rating of their fest fanwork

4 Year Anniversary

I completely forgot that today marks my fourth year on Tumblr until I got that automated email, so here is the annual anniversary post. Last year, it was snowing so much. Yet again, I’m in the middle of a snowstorm. Wonder if this is going to be a thing. 

Definitely I am a veteran of this site now. Still finding new fandoms, I’ve picked up some new ships, and made a few more friends. I’ve discovered Discord too and made more connections there. In general, I’ve had a pretty okay year with lot of good moments and a couple of really bad ones. But I’m finding my balance as I go through stuff. 

Time for shoutouts

@incendiaglacies- The fluff to my angst. I always love coming up with ideas with you. All your fics are amazing, especially Timeship and the Pop Star verse ones. And I will never not blush when you tell me how much you loved Becoming a Legend. I love the collabs and ideas that we come up with. Roommates is our fluff, Legends of SHIELD is our angst. I hope we can one day bring the Horsewomen to life one day too.

@lostinthespeedforce- I would not know as much about Barry Allen, Peter Parker, or Matt Murdock if it wasn’t for you. You give me so many good ideas for moodboards and angst. I love that we both dropped into Garcy after the S2 finale and then liveblogged the movie to each other. Thawne getting his ass kicked for messing with Nora is going to something beautiful. And I need to still need to write that Prison Break AU. I just need to binge the first season again for...reasons.

@somebodyhelpthenotdeadfreds- Dorking around about cooking and shows like Chopped and HK is always a highlight. You got me into Killing Eve, and I have no regrets. Baby, I Call Hell is so good and everyone who loves Constangreen should be reading it because it’s amazing!

@fezwearingjellybananas- I have been really bad at leaving reviews on your stuff, but I have the S1 and S2 stories of the Milk and Sugar verse open and I love them both so much. You come up with the most brilliant ideas and you deserve so many more kudos and comments. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Once More Unto (I’m so excited for Earth-2!!!!). And creating the Marvellous Ladies of DC was a stroke of genius. I need to leave a review on Return to Midgard and find a title for the Ant Man version. But I’m so glad to know you and ramble with you.

@taleasoldastime-andspace- The Wastebasket is seriously the greatest creation. The rambles we have about Timeless, DC, Garcy, and ML are awesome. Fairy Tales and Hokum is a Garcy Mummy AU masterpiece. I hope you’re aware of that and if you weren’t, you are now.

@misscrazyfangirl321- We haven’t talked a whole lot, but I appreciate when we do. You gave me so much Garcy content when I was just getting into it finally. I’m glad there’s another person out there to share my salt about it.

@areyouscarletcold- I can thank the Flarrowverse Shipyard for yanking us together. The Killer Frost Barry AU is so much fun and I need to get back to it. But I love it so much. We have Barry and we also let the girls be friends. I need to read more of your fic because it’s absolutely fantastic!

I need to start reading the latest one soon (I’m so behind on fic, agh!) And that fic you wrote for my birthday...that was amazing. aaa so i hardly ever edit my fics, excitement takes over me and i just have to publish them asap!! i then re read them again and again and notice mistakes lmao

but when i'm serious about it and edit for once in my life, i try to delete the most repetitive/wordy parts (which is like the 60% of the piece lol)

I feel like giving a personal opinion on each of the members may seem better than just, ‘his age is etc. his birthday is etc.’ I may exaggerate bc I get over excited n all haha but here’s a quick intro to the members! 

Seunghwan: He’s the eldest as well as the leader. He’s truly the father of the group, but he likes to play around just as much as the youngest members.He’s a rapper, but his vocals are amazing, really.  He appreciates his members a lot; more often than not you’ll see him grinning proudly when the other members are leading the conversation, and my heart melts every time.

Yunsung: He’s is a living, breathing, actual angel! His vocals are amazing and he’s also really sweet and kind. He also tries to be funny, but usually his jokes end with the the group groaning at the cringyness but he never lets that him get to him. I feel like the other members go to him a lot for advice or to talk about problems, he seems like he’d lend a shoulder for you to cry on in an instant. I don’t think I can ever roast him bc he’s Too Pure For This World™.

Milo: two words - adorable baby,, Really, he’s an adult but he looks like a child because he’s so short and soft and I just want to hug him ?? But don’t let his cute face fool you - he’s an amazing and talented dancer, and he spends a lot of time making his own choreography. He’s really out going and he’s wild af

Minsung: A true visual - seriously, his looks are stunning and he know it. I make fun of him a lot because he has a quirky personality, but he likes to tease the most, so I think my actions and roasts are justified. It doesn’t seem like it, but he seems shy or insecure sometimes? Maybe it’s just me, you know. He seems like someone who might have been a real loner despite his good looks. According to the members he’s a really interesting and he talks about the weirdest things. Sometimes I like to think he’s in love with Hyunkyung

Kyle: You have Yunsung, who’s an angel, and then you have Kyle, a hell-spawn. The fact that they’ve been best friends since high school still surprises me. Like Yunsung, Kyle’s voice is amazing af, and his crooked teeth are actually childishly cute and seeing him wearing large sweaters is adorable?? But of course, he’s a real tease - but I enjoy him roasting the other members. You have got to see that one time he managed to bury all of their dignity in the ground it was wild

Hyunkyung: I want to say emo tall dude, but he’s hot and sometimes very kind. He’s also a living meme. He seems really social despite having the looks of a shy person and he as well as Kangmin know a lot of people from other groups. He excessively uses Snow filters and likes to exercise but I’m mad bc he never posts gym selfies. The other members say he thinks deeply about life n all that, and I can totally agree with that. I feel like he’s really close to all te members and really comfortable with them.

Kangmin: I love him? But I hate him?? He’s cute and social and his dancing is on point - but he’s a total meme and he kisses up to the older members so they let him hang out with “the cool  older kids™” more often. He loves taking selfies more than doing homework. He learned a lot of different dance styles and my fav so far was popping n I’m really hoping he and Milo do a really cool collab one day

Happy Wednesday, Penny Darlings!

It’s beeeen a snowy week here on the east coast. And we’ve been hustling all week! And we’re going to keep on hustling! Charlie is so saaaad in the snow! We took him off leash today because he was miserable! Poor little guy!

And Vaaaalentine’s Day is coming up! And my best friend’s birthday! And all kinds of exciting things that I caaaan’t quite tell you about yet! (not pregnant, everyone settle down.)

But in the midst of all of our crazy work and collabs and rehearsals and all that jazz, we decided to take a little long weekend trip for a two-day getaway to treat ourselves! We booked a hotel (with a pool, obvi), went down to the hotel, ate room service in bed, went to see our fave podcast live, and spent lots of time in the hot tub!

So today: I’m teaming up with Avenue to share my five tips for having an epic weekend getaway!

1. ) Know what you want in a hotel!

It might sound crazy, but it can be totally overwhelming to find accommodations! Hotel? Motel? Air BnB? Bed and Breakfast? Continental breakfast? On site parking? Pool? Wifi? There’s (what feels like) a bazillion option!

I knew I wanted a hotel with parking, indoor pool, and wifi! Knowing what we needed most helped narrow down my choices!

And I spent a snowy afternoon in a indoor pool with glass walls, on the fourth floor, in downtown Baltimore, IN A HOT TUB. Bougie.

    2.) Make a loose plan

I’m a scheduler – but you should always have a little wiggle room for adventures! When Preston and I went on our little getaway, we had tickets to the show, and a few ideas of where we wanted to eat, and a few ideas for things to do! We love being able to go with the flow, so after the performance, we ended up at a bar with some people who had been sitting near us and having a great time!

  3.) Pack your outfits for your activities!

I am a chronic over packer. I travel so heavy, it’s absurd. So, in order to make it that I don’t have twenty bags for one weekend, I try to pack for the activities (with only one back up to spare!).

So, I knew we wanted to hit somewhere for brunch, so I packed these AMAZINGLY soft, stretch, jeans (more deets below), this comfy graphic sweatshirt, and this pink moto jacket from Avenue and paired it with my glitter boots!

4.) Try to limit phone time

Again, seems obvious, but I see SO many people attached to their phone at bars, events, shows, or even weekend getaways! It’s okay to snap some pictures (for the gram, for the memories) but be sure to put your phone away and actually be there in the moment! Make your own memory!

5.) Don’t forget to pack travel clothes!

There’s nothing worse then ending a long weekend away, driving home in your ‘going out’ clothes because you forgot to pack a super soft tee and some leggings! Make sure to spare a little room for your comfiest clothes to make going home part of the adventure!
