GIYUU
you decide to spend the night over at a friends house late one night
you begin the walk home the next day at around noon
and when you return home you find your entire family slaughtered, laying in pools of their own blood
and your little brother Tanjiro and little sister Nezuko are missing
in tears, wondering what the hell happened and where your siblings are, you fail to notice the men and women approaching your home
when they get to you they explain who they are
they are the kakushi for the demon slayer corps
they check you for injuries and explain what had happened
a demon attacked your family
and your missing brother and sister are most likely dead
in a fit of rage the need for vengeance fills you
and you ask how you can become a slayer
the kakushi bring you to the butterfly mansion where you meet the head of the demon slayer corps
and filled with sympathy for you but sensing your potential, he assigns a hashira to be your mentor
and not just any hashira
The Wind Hashira
Sanemi Shinazugawa
the hot headed hashira with the deepest hatred for demons, the harshest training, and an undeniable disliking towards the water hashira, whom you haven’t met
with just a month of training, you’re headed to the Final Selection
unsurprisingly, due to your training with sanemi, you pass with flying colors
over the course of the next year, you practically fly up the ranks
being sent on several missions, training with sanemi, and of course, still grieving the loss of your siblings, Tanjiro and Nezuko
you become friends with most of the hashira due to your status of being the wind hashira’s tsuguko
but still not meeting the infamous water hashira that your teacher seems to hate
it isn’t until you receive a letter from the previous water hashira, Sakonji Urokodaki
that everything changes
he has heard of your fast progress and skill
and when hearing your last name, he realized that his newest student is your family
your little brother is alive
he passed the final selection
and he’s currently on a mission
a mission that several slayers have died on
a mission that required two hashira due to the amount of casualties
after reading the letter you practically fly out of the wind hashira’s estate
abandoning your daily training
barely hearing Sanemi’s outraged and confused yelling at your departure
running as fast as possible toward the forest that Tanjiro is supposed to be stationed in
you arrive
quickly taking off the head of a demon with the flick of your wrist as you pass by
faintly seeing the outline of a man with a mismatched haori in the corner of your eye
but continuing forward
toward your brother
faster
faster..
even faster…
you arrive
arrive just in time to block the killing blow heading towards your brother..
standing in front of Tanjiro in a defensive position with your back to him
your eyes lock onto the demon that was attacking your brother
Lower Rank 5
one of the twelve kizuki
you are so focused that you can barely hear Tanjiro whisper your name in shock
surely he thought you were dead
turning your head to softly smile at him over your shoulder you say,
“it’s alright, tanji. i’m here now.”
then, you feel a drop land on your face
a drop of blood
you look up to find your baby sister
covered in blood and tangled in the demons webs
a demon herself
in shock you stammer her name
this distraction gives lower rank 5 the opportunity to attack
he launches an attack toward you
you don’t have the time to block it
but you don’t have to
the man you caught a glimpse of earlier with the checkered haori leaps in front of you, blocking the strike
with him taking on the demon, you take the chance to leap into the air and cut the webs holding your sister
catching her as she falls, you can’t tear your eyes from her demonic form
Urokodaki did NOT mention this in his letter to you…
looking up at the sound of a head hitting the floor you realize that the man had delivered the killing blow to the attacking demon
as he turns to walk towards you and your sister, sword at the ready, nezuko stands in front of you defensively
“NO! DONT! SHE’S MY BABY SISTER” you plead, practically in tears
his eyes widen in shock
shock from the revealed information perhaps?
possibly from pity…?
or… is that… realization?
and then, in a split second he moves behind you
and the loud ‘clang’ of two swords colliding reach your ears
he had blocked the sword of another hashira
Shinobu, the insect hashira had attempted to take the life of your little sister
realizing that he was defending you, you took the chance
grabbing your brother and sister by the hand you run
and you keep running until you hear a crow telling you to report to the butterfly mansion with your brother and sister in tow
as you begin the journey to the butterfly mansion, tanjiro informs you of the events he experienced over the last year
in turn, you tell him of your experiences
arriving at the mansion, you are greeted with the sight of the hashira
normally, you would greet the people you call friends but today they are against you
when choosing between your family or your friends
you would choose your family, everytime
glancing between the highly ranked slayers, you see the quiet man in the mismatched haori
and since the only hashira that you haven’t met is the water hashira
you can safely assume that it’s him
when the meeting starts the master announces that both Urokodaki and Giyuu Tomioka have both put their lives on the line to vouch for Nezuko
Giyuu…
that’s his name.
the appreciation and admiration that surges through you at hearing the way he is supporting your sister is unreal
but your admiration is stopped in its tracks by the arrival of your mentor
you physically wince at Sanemi’s hard gaze, drawing an almost unnoticeable puzzled look from Giyuu
after the meeting ends and after a rather loud scolding from Sanemi
you turn to Giyuu and express how thankful you are for his help, and for his support for your sister
and he speaks to you for the first time,
“what kind of person would I be if i didn’t help my soulmate when she needed it.”
at his words, your heart stops
time freezes
your own wide eyes staring up into his calm ocean blue eyes in shock
you are physically frozen in shock
feeling the eyes of the other hashira staring at him he grabs you by the shoulder and leads you away from the prying gaze of the slayers
and then steps away, turning his back to you and pulling his hair over his shoulder exposing the back of his neck to you
exposing his soulmate tattoo to you
“NO! DONT! SHE’S MY BABY SISTER”
printed in your very own handwriting on his pale skin
you somewhat recover from your shock, softly tapping his shoulder to have him face you
and then copying his actions, you turn your back to him exposing the words printed onto your own neck
“what kind of person would I be if i didn’t help my soulmate when she needed it.”
sanemi was NOT happy to hear that his tsuguko is giyuu’s soulmate

I.
Everything fades. His body is going numb, his vision blurs as he stares down at his reflection in the dark pool of his own blood, unable to lift his head. The cries of grief surrounding him become dim and scatter like dying leaves from his consciousness.
I've done my duty, I've given my all.
The last he remembers is a small, clawed hand and a sudden, blooming flame bursting through his shattered torso, scalding him from within in ways his own fire never could.
I see... So this is what it feels like… to burn.
Tumblr media
The balmy weather outside has no effect on you, seated at the side of the infirmary bed, your head in your hands.
“Perhaps you should go and rest. There’s been no change, and we’ll be sure to inform you of any developments.”
Aoi’s words are void of their usual sternness. You’ve heard them before, and yet—
“I’m fine, I really am.” You gaze back at the prone figure lying motionless beneath crisp white sheets. His gold and crimson hair is messy, and you’ve never seen him so pale, his features so sunken. The bandage covering his left eye is stained red in places, the usually smiling lips dry and bloodless.
Aoi sighs but says nothing else, and soon her departing steps echo against the walls.
I can’t. I can’t leave his side. You wish your thought could reach him, down to whatever place he’s struggling in now. You ball your hands into fists over your knees, a poor attempt at holding your composure. Please, come back. Please.
Weeks have passed since the mission on the train, since your group has returned with wounded bodies and spirits, though none in such a critical state as your mentor. Rengoku Kyojuro has not awakened since, and in contrast, since the nightmares the demon has placed upon you in that baleful encounter, you’ve not been able to sleep more than two to three hours every night. Every time, waking up in a sweat, the memory of what happened always the last image you remember.
“How is he today?”
You’re drawn from your thought by the gentle voice of the person you feel like you owe a life of debt to, and turn to gaze into the tired, worried eyes of Tanjiro Kamado. He stands by the bed now, glancing down at the Hashira. The slow rise and fall of his chest is the only sign that he is still alive.
You shake your head as Tanjiro takes a seat. “How is rehabilitation training going?”
Tanjiro smiles, still staring at the bed and its unresponsive occupant. “Almost done, I feel my strength returning to what it used to be and more. I admire how well you’ve upheld yourself, though,” he murmurs.
It’s true, for some reason, you’ve been the least scathed of them all, needing much less medical care than the rest. No, you know the reason why. “It’s because of him,” your words escape you. “If… if he hadn’t trained me as he did, if he hadn’t driven me so far beyond my limits, I don’t know if I would have survived for as long as I have in my role.”
“Oh, yes, I’ve heard. They say Lord Rengoku’s methods are… harsh to say the least.”
A smile tugs at your lips as a known pain pricks your heart. “But… but I’ve been remiss in thanking you, young Kamado—or rather, your sister. If she hadn’t…”  Your throat tightens; you don’t want to break down, not here, not before Tanjiro and not before him, no matter he can’t hear it.
“Please, please don’t worry, it was a stroke of luck and quick thinking on her part, I only brought the box closer—”
“... she healed him! I saw the flames engulfing him, I saw the wound close. I don’t know how she did it but… Nezuko is someone... very special.”
Tanjiro lowers his head in humble acknowledgement. “I will tell her.” Then, as though remembering something, he reaches into his pocket and hands you a small bag. “Here, I’ve not seen you join meals very often and… well, please take them.”
You don’t have the strength to refuse, and take the bag from his hand, meeting his kind smile. “Candies…”  You thank him before placing them on the bedstand, and after a few more moments of sitting in comfortable silence, Tanjiro takes his leave. You watch him depart, endeared by his manner and honesty. He has a good soul, a strong will—perhaps the strongest you’ve known, apart from…
You stare back at your mentor, memories of the past flooding behind your eyes.
Tumblr media
Five months prior
“Good! Again!”
You’re panting, your total concentration breathing nearly failing as you evade another deadly arc of the Third Form: Blazing Universe.
The sun has westered and a bluish twilight sets over the lands, but your mentor still has you parrying his unwavering techniques, before making you attack using combinations of them in turn.
“Lord—lord Rengoku—”
His blazing speed cuts your words short as your blades clash, and you stare into bright, golden-rimmed irises. He’s smiling, as usual, with a devilish spark in his eyes. There is a sudden flutter in your stomach, overriding the fatigue in your burning muscles. “Come now, don’t tell me you’re beat! You’ve come so far after only three years!” he says as you fall back, lunging for another attack the following second.
The sudden weakness you feel when you’re close to him has you confused, because it was not there before. It all began in the past year: whenever he stares at you in a certain way, whenever he touches you during training or meets your eyes, something gnaws achingly at your chest. It’s as though you need something from him, but have no idea what it is.
“I knew it from the moment I took you on as a successor,” he says, merciless in his offensive. “If you—” Parry. Lunge. “—carry on like this—” Attack. Jump. “—you’ll reach a Hashira level of skill in no time at all!”
You don’t have the chance to reply, though his words feel like honey coating your senses. At first, he’d been sparse and strict, keeping to instructions and nothing else. But you struggled, worked harder than you had for anything in all your life, and it seems he acknowledges this fully now.
“Now—Ninth Form: Rengoku!”
That means you must attack, and he must deflect. But—Ninth Form?! “I—I can’t, I’m… I’m too exhausted for the Ninth!”
He bursts forward with Unknowing Fire, forcing you to duck and curl your body, rolling away into the dust, rising on one knee.
The Flame Hashira turns, pointing his weapon at you. “Is that what you plan on telling the demons?”
“Well, no, but—”
“At no point during a battle will you have the luxury of biding your time. If this were an actual encounter, you’d be dead.” He no longer smiles, his face turned cold, eyes glinting like molten steel.
You feel the rush of shame like fangs biting into you, fueling a horrible need to prove him wrong, to rise up to the challenge in his voice. With a hiss and a groan you grip the handle of your katana tightly, breathing and striving to light that spark in your heart.
With a cry you speed forward, clashing with him in a desperate lunge.
“Ha!” The smile returns as you grit your teeth. “Better!”
His face is so close to yours again, so close you feel the rush of his breath on your cheek.
Your knees feel weak again, and you close your eyes, pushing forward in an attempt to skew his balance.
What the hell is happening to you?
“Faster, the fire is still weak! It must rage!” the Hashira says, grinning like a madman now, and where once you enjoyed the path of learning and reaching your full potential, now his attitude brings forth an ache that confuses you and leaves you anxious.
Even so. Your blades sing against each other as you lunge back in a high jump, landing in a lowered stance with one palm braced against the earth. Your uniform is wet on your back, and you’re closer to your breaking point than you've ever been.
But the thought of disappointing him, now that feels unbearable. So you do what you always do: you push yourself more, more, harnessing all your strength into one melting core, bathing your heart in it and firing up your veins.
You attack.
He laughs outright. “Not bad, but—” Your swords clash, fiercer than before. “I know you can do better, and you can be faster.”
“I’m doing all I can!” you yell, at the end of your tether now. It’s not the first time, nor will it be the last. But he takes no offense, he never does, and that's one of the things you appreciate about him. “But you—you make it impossible! You always want more, even if you know I’m not ready for it!”
It must be the fire rushing through you that has you speaking this way, daring to say such words despite knowing full well what you were in for, when you accepted to become his successor.
“Wait until you’re ready, and you will never improve!” the Flame Hashira throws back.
A growl leaves your throat as you fall back then speed towards him again, trying the Second then the Third form in succession sloppily but you’re past caring.
Your arms feel as though they will tear and your bones might splinter as you crash against his unwavering stance, and you meet his scarlet-gold gaze as he speaks softly, his voice imbued with warmth: “You can surpass the impossible. I believe in you.”
Your eyes widen, that damned ache ringing through your body like a weakening poison and—
For one split second, your stance weakens, and you’re thrown back, losing your balance and falling heavily onto the ground.
Rengoku stares down at you, tilting his head to the side with a strange look on his face as he sheathes his katana.
Your vision sways, your lungs might burst. You barely clutch at the helping hand extended to you, aiding you to your feet. He grasps your shoulders. “What happened there just now? Your focus melted like wax.”
“I…” You can’t look him in the eye. His hands on you diffuse heat, permeating through your clothing. It feels good. It scares you. “I don’t… know.”
“Tomorrow, again,” he says, releasing you. “Please do better. Remember we’re doing this for you, but foremost for the people.”
“Understood,” you murmur, biting back tears as you watch him walk away.
Tumblr media
Midnight has arrived when you end your reverie, thinking about that emotion that took root in your body and spirit, growing stronger as time passed. And you never dared tell him, never dared facing it nor can you explain why. You take a deep breath, leaned with your arms folded on the edge of the bed, your forehead resting on them. You never told him, and now…
And now with each day I’m losing hope.
Your shoulders are shaking, and your eyes sting. There is no one else here but you and him, the long chamber of empty beds the only witness to your breakdown.
You’re so absorbed by despair, you don’t perceive the faint movement, or the hand gently placed on your head.
“... Why are you crying?”
You choke on a silent sob, blinking in shock at the low, throaty voice, broken with disuse. Slowly, you raise your head.
He's staring at you, a bleak smile on his lips, and you're utterly, incomprehensibly frozen.
“You… you’re awake?” It feels like the dumbest of questions: your body knows the truth before your mind catches up.
“That… depends. Are you really here?” he asks in turn.
You nod, biting on your lower lip and wiping your eyes with your sleeve. “Yes, yes I am.”
The smile wavers for a moment as he grimaces in pain. “Oh, I see. Then… it seems… you’re not rid of me yet.”
All the gods in all the world couldn’t keep the emotions flooding you at bay, and you shake your head as warm tears flow down your face.

IMAGINE JUST BEING A NORMAL PEROSN THEN ONE DAY GETTING RANDOMLY CHUCKED INTO DEMON SLAYER TO FIND YOUR SOULMATE WHOS NAME IS ON YO WRIST!
MUICHIRO TOKITO X FEMALE READER
HEADCANNONS
You'd just be a normal person just like me and you just be walking to school head bopping to some good music, cross the road, look up BAM
DEAD? NAHHH
You wake up in a little old cabin beside a mountain and who does that cabin belong to?
UROKODAKI
Who is obviously quite interested by the sight of you and the things you are carrying
You explain everything to him and he doesn't sound like he believes you but just goes with it because he slays
Anyways
You train under urokodaki for agesssssss and meet little old Tanjiro and cute little nezuko
You two train together until final selection where you split off but come together to fight the mutated demon
You both make it through final selection, choose your ores and are off
Time skip to meeting Zenitsu and Inosuke
Zenitsu thinks your really weird 99.9% of the time and inosuke just don't care he more interested in the fight
During the fights with the demons in the house you find out different forms you could do without practising
And whoop dee doo one of those happen to be mist breathing, around that point your wrist starts to form causing tanjiro to have to slide in and end the demon before you take a deadly blow
You roll up your sleeve and see the name "Muichiro Tokito"
You obviously having no fricking clue what that signifys just gets on with your life
Time skip againnnnn
You and tanjiro are laying in your futons in the wisteria house neither of yoy being able to sleep after wrestling Zenitsu to sit the hell down and sleep and he asks you about your soulmate
Obviously your confused and he rolls up his sleeve and shows you the name on his wrist "Kanao Tsuyuri"
You show him yours and you both marvel over them together
Anddd another time skip to meeting the hashira because this is getting longggg
You find out that your soulmates a hashira and train twice as hard as to get his approval
You don't inform anyone of your name though, as you don't want him to find yoy in your weak current state as a lower rank slayer.
You train day and night with tanjiro both determined to get stronger for your soulmate
Eventually you talk to muichiro and he is very distant at first and drifts off more then talks
After a couple times he eventually comes to talk to you willingly and comes to help and watch you train.
To everyone's surprise including your own he asks you to become his tsuguko.
You stay at his estate whilst training under him and you both grow closer
Whenever you are seen anywhere around muichiro is normally only a couple steps behind or beside you
Mitsuri begins to tease you after a little while saying how he prefers to be around you then any others
To which you splutter a weak string of protests as she giggles at your failed attempts at hiding your attraction to muichiro
After being around the different estates for a while you realise how much you have adapted to this world After literally being chucked out of your world into this one
You began to feel homesick as tears gathered in your eyes at the thought of your family looking for you.
But then you led those thoughts onto your family here, inosuke, zenitsu and tanjiro were all like brothers to and nezuko and mistsuri like sisters and then there was muichiro who you really didn't know what to think about currently
You broke out of your trance as you heard the crunch of feet on the fallen leaves behind you
You whipped your head around to the source of the noise to find muichiro walking towards you and sitting next to you on the ground
You both sat in silence for a little before he turned towards you and tugged up your sleeve before letting out a little whispered 'I knew it' and pulling back down for you
You both just sat there in silence again for a little before you felt a weight on your shoulder and turned to see muichiro resting lightly on your shoulder his eyes closing slightly by the minute
Yoy rested your head ontop of his gently and closed your eyes too letting the rays of rising sun shine on you
You were just slipping off into little dreamworld when yoy felt something soft in your hand
You looked down to see you and muichiros hand interwined and his eyes now back open as he watched the sunrise
A singular sentence escaped him
"There is no-one I'd rather have as my soulmate then you"
Should I continue thissss?
I actually really like it for once! Let me know what you thinkkkkk

Muichiro’s Mansion
Muichiro x Reader series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You decide what to do after hearing of the attack on swordsmith village.
Tumblr media
Chapter 12
Your first instinct after hearing demons were attacking swordsmith village was to run there. The thought of Mitsuri and Muichiro there defending the village made your stomach sick. Realistically you knew they were very skilled Hashira's but you couldn't help but worry.
After the initial shock wore off of the message you realized there was no way you'd be able to get to the village. The swordsmith village was hidden well and took a lengthy amount of time to get to. You had to be escorted there and if anyone was going to be escorted to help against the battle, it would be another Hashria not a fired Tsuguko...
You collapsed to the floor feeling utterly hopeless. The reality of the situation was you'd have to wait. Frustration took over and a scream escaped you. You didn't think there was anything worse than being forced to just wait and hope for the best.
Think.
No doubt they would have injuries after the battle. They are most likely to head straight over to the butterfly mansion. You swiftly decided you would head straight there and wait. Maybe you could even offer a hand to Shinobu and Aoi. You began to run and felt some tension release at your feet moving. At the very least you were tricking yourself into feeling useful.
The scene was madness as the butterfly mansion helpers were running every witch way preparing for the arrival of the demon slayers fighting at swordsmith village.
"No that's not what I said! Get the other one!" You heard Aoi scream at a Kakushi.
She turned around, noticing your arrival, "what are you doing here?"
"I'm Muichiro's Tsuguko... or was... I-"
"Was? What happened?" she asked.
"Um, remember I came here badly in-"
"Oh never mind, I don't have time. If you're intent on waiting for him just stay out of the way." She said and started to hurry off.
"Can I help with anything?"
"Yes, I already told you to just stay out of the way." She said and left.
You felt someone tug on your clothes and looked down to see Sumi, "Don't be too upset with her. Aoi is just very stressed and tends to take it out on others."
"Thanks. I understand. Besides, I can't be too mad. Aoi's helped me out countless times when I was hurt." You said smiling at Sumi.
Only a day had passed but it felt like years of waiting for news of the battle. A crow passed over the butterfly mansion yelling the battle had been won. The injured demon slayers were on their way, all had survived.
The mansion was dead silent for a moment as the heavyweight everyone had been feeling lifted, and then erupted into applause and cheers of celebration.
"Well of course they all survived, their brilliant swordsmen." Aoi said, but you could see tears of happiness forming in her eyes.
It wasn't long before another crow announced the injured swordsmen were arriving. Again, the scene was madness with everyone preparing to welcome them. Inosuke in particular ran between trees head butting them yelling something about a guy named Kamachiro.
"THEY ARE HURT REMEMBER GIVE THEM SPACE! THERE WILL BE TIME TO CELEBRATE LATER!" Aoi yelled at him.
You tried to slither your way between the crowd of helpers and others anxiously waiting for their return. Among them were Zenitsu crying, and Obanai staring intently at the gate of the mansion. First, to be brought in was Mitsuri who erupted into a thanks at everyone waiting for her. She was particularly flustered with Obanai coming to greet her. Obanai swiftly turned his head away to hide the blush that ran across his face at the purrs of affection Mitsuri gave him.
As happy as you were that your friend was alive and happy, you also felt a strong sting of jealousy bubbling in your chest. Mitsuri was so happy to see Obanai waiting for her... would Muichiro even care you were here at all?
Helpers brought in more swordsmen, including Tanjiro and Genya. Inosuke immediately created a rampage at his friend's return, and that's when you saw Muichiro coming in on Gotto's back. You silently thanked Insouke for taking up Aoi's attention, giving you the perfect opening to slip past her and greet Muichiro.
Muichiro's eyes lit up the second he saw you.
"You're here? After how I treated you?" He said, eyes glistening, surprised you had come to check on him at all. He looked badly injured as blood was splattered over his face and all over his uniform but something seemed different. Muichiro seemed unusually aware as if he were awake for the first time in a long time.
"Sorry. Can't stop. I have orders to get you inside." Goto said, continuing to walk with Muichiro on his back.
"NO WAIT!" Muichiro yelled.

IGURO OBANAI X TSUGUKO READER !¡
Warning contents: Rough sex , biting , choking , spitting , pussy eating , degrading , manhandling , pussy slapping , hair pulling , back shots .
Word count: 2.6k
Summary- Being Iguro’s tsuguko was very draining to say the least. The training was rough and exhausting but you can’t really complain because you chose this course for your life. You’ve been sick of his treatment so you decide to skip training for a bit and go hang out with Tengen.
“Obanai that shit hurts!” You yelled, holding your arm. “You can’t expect to be a hashira and you’re complaining about me hitting you in the arm?” Obanai said, staring daggers at you. “Okay but still! Go easy.” You whined. “Do you think demons are going to go easy on you?” Obanai walked up closer to you.
“Whatever.” You simply said, before getting back into position.
Every day you still think about why you wanted to be Obanai’s tsuguko. His training is so brutal his last ‘tsugukos’ quit. He was a great teacher but he doesn’t know how to hold back. Its been 4 months since I took the position on. Those last 4 months have been hell.
You take a deep breath trying to focus on your total concentration breathing. Then out of no where your face met the ground. “WHAT THE FUCK” You yelled getting up rubbing your forehead. “You need to be quick and persistent.” He said, blankly.
It was only going to take one more drop of sweat for you to snap. You got up off the ground and immediately fell back down on one knee. You suddenly felt liquid run down your face and touched it. You pulled your hand back and seen blood on your finger tips. You looked up at obanai and down at your hand.
“shit” is all you could mutter before you fell limp and passed out.
You woke up in the butterfly mansion with Tanjiro beside your bed. “What happened?” You asked sitting up, letting the covers fall off your shoulders. “You passed out and Mr. Obanai brought you here, but didn’t stay because it’s not that serious” You felt a pang in your heart and you felt tears beginning to spill.
You clutched the sheets and tried to hold back the tears. Plastering a smile on your face. “Oh okay!” You began, lips trembling. “Well im fine now so! You can hurry on ahead. Just let Lady Koucho know im up please!” You said while turning towards other side of the bed getting ready to get up. Your feet dangling off the bed. Your back is towards Tanjiro. “Also let Master Obanai know I wont be back for a few days.”
“Okay sure! Have a well rested recovery Y/n!!” Tanjiro said.
Lady Koucho came in the room and inspected you to make sure that you were okay. As soon as she said you were ready to go, she made some recovering tea.
You finished the tea and got dressed in your regular corps uniform which was very similar to kanao’s.
“Bye lady kochou. Ill come back again if anything seems wrong. You waved at her and left the butterfly estate. You knew at around these times Obanai and Muichiro were patrolling the area so you decided to grab a couple of stuff from Obanais mansion like clothes, and made your way to tengens mansion.
“I can’t believe I was so hurt by what he said. I’m hoping to God that Tanjiro was just lying. but then again he’s so bad at lying, and hates it.” You complained to Tengens muscle mice. you sighed trying to figure out why on earth were you talking to animals. “You know this is kinda creepy right?” Makio said. “I know, I just need to rant. Thanks for letting me stay here.” You said, bowing your head.
“Its fine! We understand what you’re going through and you can stay as long as you want!” Hinatsuru said, popping up our of no where, placing a hand on Makio’s shoulder.
Tears started to form and you immediately started blinking and wiping them from your face. “I appreciate it so much.”
The last 4 days Tengen has trained your total concentration breathing and ways to move more efficient and faster. You were getting ready to go to bed when you felt something slithering up your leg. “GAH WHAT IS THAT” You shrieked, Suma and Makio coming in the room to see whats wrong.
“IS THAT A SNAKE” Suma yelled, hiding behind Makio. When you took a closer look at the snake you could tell that it belonged to the Serpent pillar. “Kaburamaru? Why are you here..” A frown appeared on your face. He slithered his tongue and looked in the direction of the corner in the room.
There he was. Obanai was there. A menacing glare staring at you. Your heart rate started to increase and it felt hot. “Lets go.” He said with utter venom in his voice.
“I-I uh..” You stammered. “It wasn’t a question. Lets go.” He said grabbing you by your arm. “I have to go guys tell tengen and hinatsuru ill be back tomorrow to get my stuff!” you yelled, waving by at them. Watching kaburamaru slither back onto obanai’s neck.
We were finally away from the mansion and on your way to his. “master o-obanai that hurts.” “Do you think I care?” He said still focused ahead of him. “You seem to want to take the initiative on leaving?” Obanai said, tightening his grip. “You missed four days of training. That sets us back.” He said, gritting through his teeth. He was so angry.
“Tengen trained me on total concentration and speeding up my movements.” You said, wincing. “So? Do you really think thats what makes me mad? Don’t be dense.”
“Well I wouldn’t have left if you didn’t treat me like shit.” You said making him stop. “what?” He said, sounding genuinely confused. “Maybe if you stop pointing out my flaws and motivated me, sugar coating what im doing wrong then maybe JUST MAYBE. I wouldn’t have left. You couldn’t even stay with me at the butterfly estate, HELL you couldn’t even visit me. Do you know how painful it is when somebody tells you that your own trainer doesn’t give a fuck about you?” You yelled, running out of breath. “Let go of me!” You attempted to snatch your arm away, failing.
Tears started falling. Your heart was shattered. “You know.. I get where you are coming from. Have once have you ever tried to get to know me?” he said, anger filling in. “PLENTY OBANAI. I have tried to converse with you many times, asked you questions like what your favorite color or food was. You shut me down every time! I hate you” You fell on your knees. The arm obanai was holding still in the air because of his grasp on it. He got down on his knees to level with you. He gripped your face with his hand.
“Im not one to share my feelings with. I have issues with that. Expressing them is a fear that I have. so if I made you feel some type of way, im sorry.” Obanai said. His gaze softening. “Now come on so we can go home.”
The walk home was less awkward but the sexual tension was definitely there. You didn’t think that things would go far with you and obanai.
“Fuck! Iguro please!” You yelled, gripping his hair. His tongue lapping at your clit. He stuck two fingers into you and starting moving in a scissoring motion. “Iguro please its too much!” You yelled. He was dragging a third orgasm out of you. 30 minutes of him just eating your pussy and your legs are a shaking mess. tears rolling down your brown skin. “You need to stop moving. Its making it hard for me to go deeper.” He lowly said. Just then, the sound of his voice made you cum right then and there.
He pulled his fingers out of your cunt and licked his cum coated fingers. Your chest lifted up and down as you tried to catch your breath. “turn over.” He said, flipping you over onto your stomach and pulling your hips up.
He slapped his dick on your ass before sliding it in. Snaking his arms around your waist to slap your pussy. You cry out in pain and pleasure. “Fuck, im surprised you didnt let Tengen fuck you.” He said, sliding in and out of your cunt.
“Well, you probably went there to be a slut, but it didn’t quite work out for you huh?” He said, rubbing harsh circles on your pussy. “T-Thats not true!” You gasped.
“Shut up.” He said, pulling your hair, your back meeting with his chest. “Next time im going to fuck you with your corps uniform on. Its going to make you look more like a whore than you already are.” He said , wrapping his arm around your waist.
It came to the point that the pleasure was too much. You attempted to scoot away since he had his arm wrapped around you. “Stop running and take it.” He said harshly, slapping in between your inner thighs. A red spot forming on your tanned skin.
“O-obanai, go slower!” You reached behind you scratching at his neck. Obanai slowly raised his head down to your shoulder biting your shoulder. Breaking skin. “you taste amazing.” He said, licking at the blood.
“You’re trembling.” He said, blankly. “It feels so good.” You mumbled out. Something in him snapped. He felt a wave of possession wash over him.“Say it again. Say it.” He said. Snapping his hips into you, reaching your cervix causing you to spasm. “Iguro, it feels so good!” You yelled out. “Yeah im making you feel good. I better not catch somebody else fucking this pussy. Im going to make sure that this pretty pussy remembers my dick and its shape.” Obanai said hitting deeper parts. A white ring started to form around obanais dick.
“Awee look at that. This pussy is holding onto me for dear life.” He said, slapping your clit a couple times and then rubbing it. A whole bunch of pleases came out of your mouth before you felt something unfamiliar forming.
Obanai kept rubbing your pussy until you finally let go. Your pussy started spasming around his dick. Obanai let out a chuckle that turned into a hysterical laugh. “I got you to squirt.” He said, looking at his hand with your juices on them. His long tongue licked a stripe up his hand. “oh thats perfect.” He said, eyes rolling back at your taste.
“please tell me you’re done..” You said , drained. “We could be, but I still want to cum.” He said, putting a fake pout on his face. He began Thrusting into you again. You jerking with every thrust. He let out breathy moans and some occasional “fucks”
“ah.. fuck” He said, cumming deep inside you. Letting out a low groan.
“Fuck.. you.” You said out of breath. He pulled out and flipped you on your back. Grabbing your throat and prying your mouth open. “Take what I give you.” He said before spitting in your mouth. You’re eyes went wide. “Swallow it.” You obeyed like the perfect tsuguko you were. “Mhm thats right.” He said, looking at you with his different colored eyes. “You’re so beautiful mama.” He said before collapsing onto you. Leaving you a heated mess.

Chapter 3: Closure
Tumblr media
After a prolonged coma, Tanjiro wakes up, finding you by his side. Will you be able to start anew?
Author Note: A sweet chapter for a change lmao (I think so?). But still very NSFW.
TAGS applying to this chapter: Healing, still some slight depression and delusions, Healthy/Healthier relationship, Oral sex, Vaginal sex, soft dom Tanjiro, Top Tanjiro, Bottom reader. Slight manga spoilers about the Demon Slayer Mark!
Tumblr media
Tanjiro blacked out once more closely after the end of the Red Light District's battle and remained in coma for the subsequent two months. You anxiously stood by his bedside every day, leaving only when a mission required your presence. His friends also visited him, concerned about his slow recovery.
Despite the complex history between you, Tanjiro had valiantly shielded you during the confrontation with Upper Moon 6. You felt responsible of his current condition, haunted by agonizing guilt when reflecting on your tumultuous relationship. Since Kyojuro's death, you acknowledged lacking self-control and realized the extent to which you had leaned on the kindness, compassion, and devotion of his tsuguko. Contemplating your abusive behavior filled you with deep shame.
During Tanjiro's recovery, you finally embraced the therapy recommended by Shinobu. It comprised a combination of medication, psychological counseling, and soon included meditation sessions and mantras under Gyomei's guidance. Although the weight of your fiancé's demise and your ex-lover's coma still pressed heavily on you, these treatments significantly improved your emotional stability.
Eventually, Kanao witnessed Tanjiro's awakening while you were at the temple with Gyomei and Genya. When you returned, you found him once again unconscious among his friends, a soft smile on his lips. The second time he stirred, you were the sole presence in the room, as the others had left to rest.
"Hey...," he murmured weakly, lightly touching your arm as you dozed on your chair nearby.
"Tanjiro!" you exclaimed, startled. You immediately clasped his uninjured hand, tears of relief shimmering in your eyes.
"It's so good to see you awake again... Are you hungry? There are some leftovers I can get for you."
He nodded feebly, and you sprang into action. Returning with rice porridge and miso soup, you assisted him with his meal. The situation brought back memories of the times following the Flame Hashira's death, when your friend had similarly encouraged you to eat, staying by your side whenever possible. Now, it was your turn to reciprocate and care for him.
In the ensuing days, you dedicated yourself tirelessly to Tanjiro in-between your therapy sessions and a few brief missions. The Sun Breathing user made a surprisingly swift recovery, initiating his rehabilitation training within a week of waking up. Despite his impressive spirit and health recovery, an akward atmosphere persisted between you two, as if neither of you knew how to act around the other.
You desired a fresh start with him, yet you hesitated to voice this sentiment. He had already endured so much for you, and you psyche wasn't fully healed either. As a proof, there were moments when you came perilously close to calling him by your dead fiancé's name, barely managing to stop yourself. More often than you wished, the overlapping images of the two men often left you in a state of confusion for hours.
In the end, it was Tanjiro who initiated a private conversation with you, extending an invitation to his room within the Butterfly Estate. Accepting with a heavy heart, you found your former suitor sitting on his bed, engrossed in the Rengokus kata manuals. Your vision blurred slightly at the sight, reminiscent of Kyojiro, who used to study the same books to hone his skills. Shaking off the memories, you took a deep breath and approached your host. Tanjiro, setting aside his reading, greeted you with a warm smile.
"Thank you for coming! Feel free to sit here if you'd like," he offered, patting the empty spot next to him.
You complied, your eyes fixed on your nervously twisting fingers. Tanjiro could scent the depth of your anxiety. He reassured you with a calming touch, placing a hand on yours.
"I'm not sure what's causing you so much concern, but I just wanted to congratulate you," he explained kindly. "I noticed that you're doing much better. Kocho-san informed me about your therapy with her and Himejima-san. I'm happy for you."
"Oh... it's the least I could do... and I don't really feel like I'm progressing. It's reassuring to know that you think it's working," you admitted.
"Of course! I watched you train yesterday, and you looked radiant. Here, it's not much, but Nezuko and I prepared this to congratulate you."
He handed you a bowl of small caramels. You hadn't noticed them earlier; your attention had been completely focused on him.
Accepting the sweets onto your lap, you expressed gratitude with a somber expression. There was so much you wanted to convey to him (I'm sorry), so many questions (Can we start anew?), and you felt heavily indebted to him (Thank you for everything)... you didn't know where to begin. You expected him to resent you, but he continued to act like a caring friend, and that realization only added fire to the infernal conflict within you.
Your scent now exuded profound sadness, so potent that it caught him by the throat. He was about to inquire what was wrong, or if the caramels had triggered a painful memory, when you interrupted him by speaking again.
"I can’t apologize enough for everything I've put you through, Tanjiro... For starters, I’m sorry for calling you 'Kyojuro', especially during intimate moments... It's a pitiful excuse, but one of the reason was that you resemble him so much. Not physically, of course, but in your kindness, your cheerfulness and your selflessness... even your Breathing styles are close. You could have been brothers... It's only natural that he wanted you as his successor. What I loved and admired so much about him, I find in you, and... and because I couldn't accept his... his death," the word almost strangled you with a sob. "Because I couldn't accept it, I projected him onto you. It was so easy, with your personalities... I did that instead of simply enjoying the company of a man as good as you, Tanjiro... I'm sorry. I know you've suffered immensely; I must have made you feel like you were nothing, while you had to endure both the loss of your Aniki my poor condition. You deserve better. I just... hope you'll forgive me one day."
Your control shattered, and to your shame, you started shaking and crying. Tanjiro held you tightly, providing a comforting embrace, shedding years with you. There was no word to describe how it felt to see you finally acknowledged his efforts and pain.
"I was willing to do anything for you, you know... I would have continued to play that role if I believed I could, but I can't be Kyojuro... I will never be like him. I made a mistake by trying; it ended up hurting both of us. And, honestly, I... I wish for you to love me for who I am," he confessed, looking vulnerable. "Because I love you desperately on my side. I've loved you dearly since the first day we met."
His sobs intensified, and you wailed together, finding comfort in each other's broken hearts. One aspect of Tanjiro that differed from your fiancé was his expressivity. Kyojuro never cried, even in the depths of his sorrow. His family environment had forbidden it from a tender age. Although it also contributed to his reassuring charisma and resilience, you genuinely cherished the sensibility of your current companion. If anything, it was a proof of his charming sincerity and his purity, and a part of his gentle strength.
"I love you, Tanjiro," you whispered.
Releasing his embrace, the young man's teary eyes held a fragile hope as he gazed at you. This marked the first time you expressed your love for him while using his name, an awareness that filled you with guilt.
"... Really? Even if... even if I can't be Kyojuro?"
He looked so vulnerable in that moment, it struck an emotional chord within you. Your fingers tenderly traced his cheek as you dreamily studied each of his beautiful features.
"You are perfect just the way you are, Tanjiro... In some aspects, you surpass him; in others, you are equals, and there are areas where he will remain unmatched. It doesn't matter. You are you, and... I love you from the bottom of my heart. I truly do. If you can forgive me for everything I've put you through, I'd like to try starting anew, to be with you for who you really are, and not as... a replacement. I can't promise I won't make mistakes or experience nightmares again, but I'll continue with the therapy prescribed by Shinobu... I'll do my best to heal. To become completely yours. Would you wait for me, Tanjiro?"
Tanjiro wiped his face with his sleeve, offering you a smile. His eyes still glistened with tears, love, and hope.
"Of course. I'd wait for you for years if needed."
Tumblr media
Days turned into weeks, and gradually, you and Tanjiro settled into the rhythm of young lovers once more. He brought you souvenirs from his missions, and you returned tokens of affection whenever you could. Tentatively, you began holding hands, cuddling, and eventually, sharing kisses.
After a few months, you started sleeping the same bed again. It was a long-anticipated dream coming true once more, especially since your nights alone were filled with painful nocturnal anxieties. Despite the joy of this reconnection, you understood how challenging this step was for Tanjiro, considering your last intimate experience. This time, you had patiently waited for him to suggest it, prioritizing his feelings over yours.
The first night together carried a hint of awkwardness, maintaining a chaste and somewhat distant atmosphere as you both adjusted. However, Tanjiro gradually relaxed, pulling you closer during sleep, noting that your nightmares had less grip on you. You found contentment in this renewed intimacy, though the growing desire for your partner became increasingly difficult to conceal. Despite this, you refrained from rushing things, mindful of your past traumas and his. Unbeknownst to you, Tanjiro was also holding back with similar considerations.
One evening, despite your progress, you had a nightmare—specifically, the one involving the Mugen train tragedy. You jerked up trembling, your face drenched in sweat and tears. You remained silent, but the scent of your distress roused your companion, prompting him to pull you into a comforting hug.
The kindness and warmth of the eldest Kamado enveloped you. If Kyojuro embodied an all-consuming summer sunshine, Tanjiro manifested as a gentle spring ray of light, holding you with tenderness. His kisses landed everywhere on your face and hair, wiping your tears as he whispered sweet words of love and reassurance.
Gradually, your initial sadness faded away, replaced by a yearning for more affection and closeness.
"Tanjiro...," you murmured, your voice hoarse with longing.
The way you pronounced his name made his breath hitch. In response, he emitted a soft hum, nuzzling your neck. Although you were trying to restrain yourself, he could sense your inner desires in your intonation and scent. He could tell already that your core was dripping, craving for attention. Though he remained still, his grip around you tightened slightly, which subtly encouraged you to speak again.
"Tanjiro... I love you... my sweet Tanjiro..." The words flowed effortlessly from your lips in a sultry whisper. You could tell he liked the way you moaned his name.
Lifting his face, Tanjiro met your gaze. His mouth hesitated before finding yours, initiating a tender kiss. You relished on the feel of his warm breath on your lips. You revelled in the warmth of his breath on your lips. Unlike your previous encounters, this kiss lacked the desperate passion, allowing both of you to taste, explore, and rediscover each other slowly.
You guided his hand to your chest. Leaning back slightly, Tanjiro studied you carefully, ensuring that you were present in the moment, and not lost into some delusion. His touch on your covered breast was delicate, as though you were made of glass.
"You don't want to?" you murmured, trying to hide the regret in your tone.
"Of course, I want you...," he reassured with a sweet smile. "But I would like to take it slow this time. I've dreamed of sharing this moment with you for so long, you know?"
Blushing, you closed your eyes, allowing him to explore your jaw and throat with his lips as he gradually undid your nightshirt and chest binder. A soft moan escaped you as you felt his hot breath brushing your breasts, covering it with light kisses. His tongue teased your nipples, before the warmth of his mouth locked around them, sucking them alternately.
Your pleasure-filled sounds seemed to delight him, and he began to toy with the hem of your pajama bottoms, slipping his fingers inside but refraining from reaching between your legs just yet. Your hips bucked slightly, yearning to meet his hand, a silent plea to quench the growing fire in your core. He chuckled softly, amused by your eagerness. Succumbing to the allure, he finally brushed his digits against your moist cunt.
A quiet exclamation escaped him when he realized the extent of your arousal—you were absolutely drenched down there. He looked both surprised and genuinely flattered. Despite feeling somewhat embarrassed by your evident eagerness, you pressed his hand against your wetness.
"It's for you, Tanjiro. I am yours now."
He blushed intensely in response and resumed your fervent kiss, stealing your breath away. His fingers ventured into your depths, and his thumb delicately massaged your clit.
"I'm yours too," he whispered, lightly grazing your earshell with his teeth. "I'll take care of you." Unbeknownst to him, it was a phrase that Kyojuro used to say in similar situations. The kinship between them struck you once more like thunder. You moaned instinctively as you felt him suck your earlobe, but your mind started to wander frantically, leaving you petrified and as your lover's lips traced a path down your bust. Sensing your distraction, your partner gently prompted you:
"Baby, look at me."
You obeyed, your gaze clouded.
"You're with me," he continued in his kind and steady voice. "It's me, Tanjiro. Everything is fine. Don't take your eyes off me, okay?"
With a less confused expression, you nodded. With that, he began to breathe slowly and steadily, his tongue exploring your lower lips. You instantly relaxed under his oral caresses, allowing the gradual warmth to build within you as he feasted on you.
Though Tanjiro was relatively inexperienced, he paid close attention to each of your reactions to his touch. Quickly discerning what pleased you the most, he continued to reverently lap at your delicate bud while gently inserting one, then two fingers deep inside you. His rough swordsman's digits skillfully massaged your tender and responsive walls.
Sensing your proximity to climax, he sucked harder your sensitive pearl while rubbing a particular spot inside you. You succumbed under the pleasurable sensations, trembling in the wake of overstimulation. As he straightened up, he looked at your dishevelled state with his adoring purple eyes. He held your legs apart with his calloused palms and started to slide his length languidly against your throbbing clit, still coated with saliva.
"Say my name, love," he demanded in his soft, almost hypnotic voice.
As thrilling as his command was, you understood that it was also a way to ensure your presence in the moment with him. The sultry way he rubbed himself close to your entrance was a promise – he would reward you if you complied correctly, and postpone the pleasure as a ‘punishment’ if you couldn't.
"Hmm... Tanjiro...," you called out obediently, your gaze fixed on him through lust-veiled eyes. "I love you... Please... take me..."
A warm smile graced Tanjiro's lips as he leaned down to kiss you. "Anything you want, my love."
He captured your sighs between his lips as you felt his hardened member slowly entering you. A long groan escaped him as you sensed him splitting your walls slowly, until he was fully sheathed. Watching you tremble and mewl beneath him, the spark in his eyes intensified. It was a struggle for him to grasp that one of his dearest dreams was finally coming to reality, and that he was becoming one with you. The previous time didn't count. Tonight, your moans of love, desire, and pleasure were truly for him. It was his name that you were crying with delight, the sound of your voice resonating all the way down his lower belly, making it throb. Inhaling deeply, he commenced deliberate and rhythmic thrusts, and you clung to his shoulders, breathless. The sensations overwhelmed you; the feeling of fullness was intense. Tanjiro revelled in the way your muscles clenched around him as his tip kissed your cervix. You were taking him so well... as if you were custom-made for each other. He sought your gaze but found your eyes closed, lost in pleasure. He cradled your chin with one hand, the other subtly lifting your hips to refine the angle of his movements.
"Look at me," he requested again, his tone devoid of any force, yet you complied instinctively. Your gaze briefly slid from his face to your belly, where you noticed a slight bulge forming with each deep thrust he bestowed upon you. Sensing his eyes on you, you compelled yourself to shift your attention back to him.
"You're with me, aren't you, darling?"
You folded your arms behind his neck and pulled him towards you, kissing him tenderly and gently sucking his tongue. "Yes, Tanjiro... I'm with you. I'm yours."
He smiled and traced his hand down to your belly, rubbing the area where the slight bulge appeared with this thumb while he teasingly stilled himself deep inside you. You whined and he could feel you tighten around him.
"Good girl," he praised as you waited patiently for him to move again, breathless.
You didn't know whether he was acknowledging your resilience to your usual delusions, or appreciating your obedience — perhaps both. His palm moved lower, the rough pad of his thumb grazing your bud, heightening the sensations of his fervent thrusts. Dizziness began to set in, your senses overwhelmed.
"Come for me?" he asked in his gentle voice, tentatively pinching your clit.
It was more of a question than an order, yet, as if under a spell, your body responded instantly with the onset of a powerful climax. A shaky cry and tears of pleasure escaped you. Leaning over to suck your pulse, he sustained his intense and frenzied movements throughout your orgasm, extending it to its fullest. With the final contractions of your walls, he sensed his own release approaching, pulling you sharply against him and delivering his seed deep inside you. You shivered as you felt the hot streams of his semen spread within.
"I love you, Tanjiro," you whispered into his burgundy hair.
Still catching his breath, he closed his eyes, pressing his face against your neck, savoring your cherished scent. He was grateful to the gods for your presence, tenderness, and words of affection. He knew he would never get tired of them.
"I love you too. I want to spend the remaining of my life with you."
Tumblr media
Soon after that night, Tanjiro officially sought your hand, and you gladly accepted, signing the papers only a few weeks later. The wedding ceremony was humble, just an intimate affairwith your close friends, yet it was one of the happiest day of your life.
Time marched forward. As promised, you diligently committed to the therapy regimen prescribed by Shinobu. Although occasional slips still occurred, like calling Tanjiro by his predecessor's name— especially in the aftermath of disquieting dreams or particularly taxing missions— such instances gradually waned. The journey toward complete recovery might span years, if it could be achieved at all. However, Tanjiro was a patient and understanding husband. He loved you, and now that he was certain of your reciprocation, he could face any challenge by your side.
Kyojuro's memory persisted as well. His tsuguko continued to carry his flame tsuba on his katana, ensuring his legacy accompanied you in every battle and beyond. Tanjiro let his hair grow back again, not to please you this time, but as a tribute to his late mentor. Regular visits to the Flame Hashira's grave and his family were also a part of your routine, woven into the gaps between missions. You and Tanjiro solemnly pledged to fight for a world where your descendants and the Rengokus could thrive in peace. Perhaps, in a brighter future, you would all be reunited...
Despite the relentless battles and the looming curse of the Demon Slayer Mark, one day, your dream will come true.

Zenitsu met you when they first arrived at the Butterfly Estate, battered and exhausted. It just so happened you had business with Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira. While searching for her, by mistake, you went inside the Kamaboko squad's assigned room.
Zenitsu thought a goddess came through the door the moment he laid his eyes on you. Eyes glued to you and completely ignoring Aoi, who was scolding him to drink his medicine.
"Aoi-chan, do you know where Kocho-san—" Before you could finish your sentence, you were interrupted by a shrill shriek from a certain blonde boy, hurting your ears.
"WOAH! YOU LOOK GORGEOUS! WILL YOU MARRY ME? I'M GOING TO DIE SOON SO—" Now, Zenitsu has received one of the dirtiest looks known to man from women before, but your glare was really something else. It sent shivers down his spine, the room went cold and he immediately paled under your freezing, but burning gaze.
"Then die." Was the only thing you said to him. He shut his mouth, hiding under his blanket and trembling in fear. How can you be so scary!? He thought, not even having the courage to look at you again. I just met with the prettiest girl but she's a demon!!!
Then you turned your head to Aoi, who was unfazed by your attitude and told you where Shinobu was. Giving her a bow and a small thanks, your face filled with anger and disgust went back to its original state; blank.
Even if you were scary, having emotion on your features fit you better; was Zenitsu's thoughts when he saw a glimpse of your face once you were leaving. You were prettier when you were showing anger.
"W-w-who was that!?" Zenitsu cried once you were out of the room, gripping his blanket and looking at Aoi for answers. She could only sigh, handing him his medicine. He was too heartbroken and terrified to even refuse it, chugging it down. "She's like a demon!! Tanjiro, did you see her!? She's a demon!!"
Aoi scowled at the boy, smacking his head with a roll of paper and crossing her arms. "Don't call her a demon! The girl you just met is the Serpent Hashira's tsuguko, Y/n L/n!" She told him, taking the cup from his hands. He could hear Tanjiro let out a small gasp.
"Eh, Tanjiro? You know her?" Zenitsu glanced at his friend, who just shook his head. "N-no... I just know who the Serpent Hashira is from the Hashira meeting... He's terrifying..." Tanjiro's shoulders sagged, rubbing the back of his neck.
Aoi nodded in agreement, pointing an accusatory finger at him. "Mhm, that was the worst first impression you could ever do to one of the most terrifying tsugukos training under Obanai Iguro!" She huffed, unimpressed. "Now she probably thinks you're all scum, and the fact Tanjiro is harboring a demon with him doesn't help your case at all!"
Zenitsu screamed in frustration, clutching his head as he vigorously shook it. "DAMN IT!! HOW WOULD I KNOW A PRETTY GIRL LIKE HER COULD BE SO SCARY!! HER FACE WAS SO ANGELIC AND BEAUTIFUL, I DIDN'T EXPECT HER TO BE A DEMON!!"
Aoi smacked his head again, scolding him for calling her a demon. Tanjiro had to step in, calming Aoi down and comforting a teary-eyed Zenitsu. "But Aoi-chan is on good terms with L/n-chan?"
That caught Zenitu's attention, reducing himself to sniffles and looking up at Aoi, who just smiled at them. "Mhm! She visits here often because of me, we're good friends! We met each other during the Final Selection." She told them, "Y/n was nicer when we first met, but her attitude towards me never changed. Iguro-sama influenced her a lot, but she's still her friendly self once you get to know her."
Zenitsu perked up at this, a dreamy look on his face as he began to imagine being with you, red painting his cheeks. "Does this mean I have a chance~?"
Irked, Aoi pulled on his ear. "Don't you even dare make a move on Y/n, you pervert!" He could only shout Tanjiro's name and whine in pain.
True to her words, you visit every other day to the Butterfly Estate. The Kamaboko squad learned that even if you were the same age as them, you were highly skilled and experienced.
Aoi informed them that, at the moment, you were a rank below a Hashira, making you one of the youngest tsuguko in the Demon Slayer Corps who's a Kinoe. You were vicious when it comes to fights, and Zenitsu saw this when Shinobu had the brilliant idea to make the three boys spar against you.
Usually, Zenitsu would show you his 'confidence' before your battle, in an effort to woo you, but thanks to your display of utter hatred for him and his friends, he knew he needed to do something else to impress you. You were scary, sure, but you were just too damn pretty!
Naturally, he passed out when he was the first to volunteer to fight you, and it's where you saw him in a new light, as silly as it was. He was incredibly fast, and you were slightly impressed that he could move that much while sleeping, even performing Total Concentration Breathing when he doesn't even know how to do it constantly.
But of course, you won effortlessly. You may let him graze you with his wooden sword as you watched him in awe, then knocked his sword out of his hands with ease, a displeased expression etched on your face.
When Zenitsu woke up, his heart raced when you looked at him like that. No matter what emotion you're showing him, be it anger or disgust, his cheeks get warm because you look so much better when there's an inkling of emotion on your face. He's not a masochist okay?
Shinobu giggled, sending you a teasing look, which you just shot back a glare at her. "Oh my, is that a graze on your cheek, Y/n-chan~?" She pointed out in a sickly sweet tone, it almost made you gag.
"He got lucky. I was just surprised he can even move while sleeping." You scoffed, rolling your eyes, and grabbed Zenitsu by the collar of his shirt, then threw him at Tanjiro as if he weighed nothing.
That didn't get you the reaction you expected though. Instead of groaning in pain and complaining how harsh you were to him, he fawned over you, cheeks flushed as he spilled out compliments out his mouth.
You often get praises from others for being strong, but not to this extent. It honestly made the tips of your ears burn. You assumed it was from anger, that you were annoyed by his voice. Shinobu thought otherwise, giggling to herself.
That made you snap back to reality, cheeks burning now that Shinobu saw you so distracted by the blonde boy and you swore you popped a vein.
"Shut up." You spat out, with more bite than you intended, "How about think about how much of a weakling you are than praise me like some kind of goddess."
Zenitsu sighed dreamily, giving you a blissful smile. "But you are a goddess, Y/n-sama~"
Oh boy. In the eyes of normal bystanders, if they saw your red face at the moment, they would've thought you were beyond furious. To Shinobu's observation, Aoi's deep understanding of your personality, and Tanjiro's sense of smell, they could tell it was far from that, and that you're just flustered.
Even so, you kicked him in the face and sent him flying outside the room. Tanjiro apologized to you on his behalf, Inosuke laughed at him, while Zenitsu was too high in heaven, he didn't even feel the pain of your kick and instead swooned that you 'touched' him.
Poor Tanjiro and Inosuke, they had to take a beating from you to release your pent-up rage.
Every time you dropped by the Butterfly Estate while the Kamaboko squad was in recovery, Shinobu would tell you to spar with the boys. You despise it, especially because you'd see one particular blonde boy, but you didn't want to disobey a higher up, so you did as told.
You held no mercy, yet Zenitsu didn't back down from his compliments. It would make you angrier, but you soon realized that Zenitsu listens to you. You've seen him whine about training, medicine and going to missions, saying how hard they are and scary it is, when you tell him to do those things, he listens.
While it may be a good thing to others, it's an extreme pain in the ass for you now Shinobu expects you to visit more until their recovery is finished.
You hate to admit it, but he's improved a lot faster because of you.
Tanjiro was the sole reason why Zenitsu and you got close with each other. Being the sweetheart he is, he did his best to befriend you, and while your mentor's dislike towards Tanjiro affected your views of him, he's much more likable than the other two boys. You still didn't trust his demon sister though.
He would always invite you to join their meals, and that's where it really started. The 4 of you would talk to each other, sharing experiences and whatnot. You grew fond of them over time, getting used to their antics, joining their little banters, and even training together, with you being their mentor.
Zenitsu was still Zenitsu, but he's much more bearable to be around. He seemed to understand you hated how he acted (it only took you calling him a creep to realize it) and has become more considerate of how he approaches you.
You would've never thought you'd grow a soft spot on the blonde boy, but that doesn't mean you're gonna go soft on him. You were still mean, but there was less venom in your tone. You showed kindness but backed it up with a sharp insult. You made sure you don't leave big bruises on him during each training, but you still pushed him to his limits.
Zenitsu is really getting mixed signals from you. While his hearing can help him understand how you feel, you're excellent at concealing your emotions from him ever since he told you about his superhuman hearing.
Although, Zenitsu got a huge sign from the heavens when one of the slayers called him 'weak' and 'pathetic' during a joint mission with you and a couple of others. The poor slayer couldn't even finish his sentence because you punched him. So hard that he lost a tooth, and received a broken nose.
Zenitsu was touched, he had never seen you so angry. When you were angry, your face would only go as far as furrowing your brows, and a sharp glare. But right now, you were full-on scowling at him, baring your teeth with your bruised fist shaking.
"Watch your mouth, before I break it even more." You seethed, clenching your fist and sending him the nastiest glare he's ever seen. It wasn't even directed at him and he felt himself tremble. "You're the weak one here. You can't even deal with a single demon that a Kinoe and other slayers were sent here for your aid."
The slayer cried and Zenitsu had to hold you back from doing something worse to him. Honestly, Zenitsu found that attractive. No one had ever defended him like that, not even Tanjiro. You, without hesitation, punched a slayer just because he badmouthed him, to which he mentioned, was used.
People were scared of you, sure, but you're a tad nicer than Serpent Hashira. You've never hurt anyone no matter how much they angered you. Yet you chose to defend him and risk your clean streak to the Demon Slayer Corps?
"Next time," You huffed, hiding your flushed cheeks from him. He could hear your heart racing whilst he wrapped bandages around your hand. He hoped it was what he thought it is. "Don't just stand there. You don't necessarily have to fight, but know your worth and show them they're not worth your fuckin' time."
Zenitsu frowned, "But what they're saying is true-" You flicked his forehead, glaring halfheartedly at him. "You're brave, you're strong, you're an exceptional swordsman. If you were weak, you'd be dead by now. You're brave as hell, even if you're scared, you still push yourself to finish the job." You then clicked your tongue, thanking him for bandaging your hand. "They're all so blind at your potential. Pathetic."
Your words were vulgar, but he knew that you were sincere. That everything you said was an honest opinion from you, that you were trying to comfort you, in your own words. You even gave him an awkward pat on the back. His heart swelled.
"Y/n~!! You're so nice~" While it may seem he's just his usual self, he really meant it. He appreciated your words, support, and guidance in being a better swordsman.
Speaking of the Serpent Hashira, you always spoke so highly of him to Zenitsu. Saying how kind he is, a great mentor, and like a big brother to you. If you say he's one of the best people in your life, then he can't be so bad, right?
Wrong. He nearly DIED during their first meeting.
You often talked about Zenitsu to Obanai (never mentioning his name), and he grew really curious (and protective). You talked about him like how he spoke about Mitsuri to you. Smiling uncontrollably, sighing dreamily, he can basically see the love in your eyes.
He didn't like that one bit, so he followed you to the Butterfly Estate.
When he found out it was one of Tanjiro's friends? Well, it didn't end well.
"Him? Really? I thought you could do better, Y/n." He rolled his eyes, clearly disgusted by Zenitsu. His soul left his body. Obanai glared at him just like you glared at him when you first met!!
You shrugged, not missing a beat. "He's cute. Better than those other weaklings."
And Obanai could agree. He would never admit it, but Zenitsu showed more potential than before once you began training him. Zenitsu flushed at your words.
As soon as you left him alone, Obanai threatened him so bad he almost peed himself.
"You dare hurt her, or make any inappropriate advances towards her, I will make sure you'll die a painful death. Perhaps feed you to a demon." Kaburamaru hissed at him, adding in his fear factor.
When Zenitsu told you about it, you brushed it off, saying "He's just himself. He'll grow on you."
He, in fact, did not.

------
You had always been filled with rage.
It was passed to you from your father, a violent and paranoid man. He was deeply manipulative. You knew you had that capacity — to be charming yet intimidating, with an iron-clad wall surrounding your emotions. It was what caught the Demon Slayer Corps attention in the first place.
They’d found you littered with bruises and bearing a distinct slashed scar across your forehead. It wasn’t hard to convince you to leave an abusive father and enabling mother.
You’d been hand selected by a retired hashira as his tsuguko. Typically an honor for young corps members, it quickly turned nightmarish. The hashira was violent and punished any training mistakes with beatings, frequently withholding meals as an added consequence. He was masterful at hiding your current condition and abuse from prying eyes at his remote estate, keeping you in a locked room adjacent to his suite. It wasn’t until one day in a group training that things fell apart.
“Look at y/n,” Zenitsu remarked, “she’s been training under that old hashira.”
“It’s weird he makes her wear so many layers. It’s way too hot today for me to do that,” Inosuke sneered.
“Inosuke, you don’t even wear clothes half the time!” Zenitsu chided, “plus, she’s still so fast. I don’t think even you could keep up with her.”
It was true. The repeated abuse had effectively beaten your argumentative nature into listless obedience, you were mechanical in nature — swift, skillful, and uncompromising. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d eaten a proper meal. Hunger seemed to be replaced with a persistent numbness throughout your weakening body. To make matters worse, today’s weather had you dripping in sweat on top of the malnutrition and lingering injuries.
You leapt upward, slicing a straw dummy to ribbons in midair. But, as you spun on your axis to land, dizziness flooded your senses, and you hit the dirt with a thud.
Heat radiated from your face as you turned onto your back, wincing.
“Y/n, are you okay?” This time it was Tanjiro’s voice, hinted with concern.
“Don’t touch her. She’s fine,” your hashira hissed, “On your feet. Now.” His heavy steps marched angrily toward you.
You got up, still dazed from the fall and barely managing to stand stiffly at attention. “I’m sorry, master,” you murmured shamefully.
His anger was boiling over, you could feel it as he approached you.
SMACK
He flung his open palm across your face, tossing you in the dirt again. Before you could react, his foot struck your abdomen with a crunch. You curled inward, gasping at the dusty air around you.
“What are you doing?!” Tanjiro shrieked in horror, running toward you both.
His scream caught the attention of the nearby hashira, Giyuu and Shinobu, who turned to see you in fetal position on the ground.
“You come with me, now,” Giyuu seemed to materialize next to your hashira, and seized him with a rough grip on the shoulder.
In your daze, you could barely make sense of Tanjiro’s horrified face above you, calling for help.
The scope of your condition unfolded through the afternoon, though you were largely too delirious to remember. Upon stripping the heavy layers of clothing down to your undergarments, the kakushi were stunned to see not only the extensive injuries but the sheer emaciation of your figure.
“He must have been starving her. It’s clear this isn’t the first time he’s beat her like that.” A kakushi solemnly looked toward Shinobu, “I’ll take her to the Butterfly Mansion with me so she can heal. We’ll see if she remains fit to continue training,” she sighed.
You awoke later that evening in a cold sweat to Aoi changing the sheets on the bed next to yours. Sitting up abruptly caused you to let out a strained gasp.
“Oh! Miss (y/n)! You need to lie back.” Aoi rushed over, “two of your ribs are crushed. Lots of internal bruising.”
Tanjiro peeked around the doorframe sheepishly, “Is she awake, Aoi?”
“Tanjiro, go back to bed. She needs to rest.”
“Is she going to be okay?”
“We’ll find out in a few days, Tanjiro.”
Those few days came and went. Physically, your wounds would heal and you could regain strength with proper nutrition. It was the mental ones that worried the hashira. At first, you were numb to everything. Nothing scared you or excited you, it was just a deep emptiness. You trained with the same vigor and focus as before, but ran your psyche on overdrive. Food was sickening. You couldn’t suppress the feeling that you didn’t deserve to eat.
Your new dinner habit was stomaching a few miserable bites, pushing the remaining food around on the plate to make it look eaten, and discarding the rest when you had a moment alone in the kitchen.
On one night, you only thought you were alone.
As you crept out into the hallway, you felt warm fingers grasp your wrist.
“Sh-hh-shit!” You nearly went limp against the wall in shock.
“Y/n! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you,” Tanjiro’s worried burgundy eyes caught yours, “why didn’t you eat tonight? Did you not like it?”
“Oh. No. I just wasn’t that hungry,” you lied.
“Y/n, I can wrap one of my hands around your wrist completely. You’re training too hard to not be eating,” he said softly.
Why was he being nice to you? It didn’t feel right. It made your skin crawl to hear the worry in his voice.
“Please, come eat something,” he begged, “I can make you whatever you’d like.”
A mix of guilt and shame churned in your stomach. You felt a wave of nausea rising in your chest.
“I-I-I’m gonna be sick,” with barely enough time, you ran to the kitchen sink, vomiting what little food was in your system into the drain.
You heard Tanjiro start to call for Aoi behind you as you sunk to the floor, taking slow breaths to suppress your trembling limbs.
Tanjiro knelt in front of you, squeezing your hands in his as if trying to hold your shaking form together. His eyes were glued to the floor, obscured by his wine colored locks.
“Y/n, what’s going on?” Aoi rushed into the kitchen.
“I felt sick all of a sudden and threw up. I just want to go to bed,” you overplayed the tiredness in your voice, hoping to catch Aoi’s merciful side, while Tanjiro’s eyes snapped up to yours in disdain. Lying again.
Aoi sighed. “Fine. We’ll see how you’re eating tomorrow,” she relented, extending a hand toward you to take you to bed.
“I can do it,” Tanjiro cut in, pulling you up with him, a little too abruptly. He saw the color start to drain from your face and realized his mistake, sweeping an arm around your waist to steady you.
His physicality, so soft and gentle, felt foreign. All you’d known was violence from men — your subconscious sat in high alert waiting for him to turn on you.
As if she could read your expression, Aoi guided you away, “That’s okay, Tanjiro. We can handle it,” she smiled. Out of his earshot, she whispered to you, “I know he can be overwhelming at times. Kanao was this way with boys when she arrived, too.”
You softened a little.
——
That was months ago. In the time since, your eating habits became more regimented — strictly based on calorie and nutrient intake to maintain fitness. It was easier to compartmentalize that issue than unwind your underlying fears of comfort. Shinobu stepped in to polish your skills alongside Kanao when you lost your tsugoku master, yet you still kept everyone around you at arms length.
You were known for your intensity and resolve on missions. Viciously uncompromising and emotionless when the situation called for it, yet able to be levelheaded and practical in the aftermath of a demon encounter. Your success rate was unparalleled — ripe for a new challenge.
“Y/n, you and Shinazugawa are called to the northeast mountains to investigate a suspected upper rank demon attack,” Kagaya announced at assignment rounds at headquarters, “I believe you are both well matched for this task.”
Shinazugawa? Your brain was reeling at his name. Even though you were solidly trained as a kinoe, to be sent out with a hashira — and Sanemi at that — seemed unfathomable. Shinobu, with Aoi’s input, had made an effort to avoid sending you out with men alone, opting for another female as a buffer or for solo endeavors. And why on earth would they pick Sanemi for your first duo mission? You’d only heard rumors of his vicious, punishing nature with subordinates and felt glimpses of his intimidating presence at headquarters.
“You’ll leave at once in the morning.”
——
“My child, do you remember the tsuguko that Kocho took in a few months ago?” Kagaya’s milky eyes turned to Sanemi.
“Not particularly,” he muttered.
That was a lie. In those months, Sanemi had his fair share of injuries repaired by Shinobu at the Butterfly Mansion and had noticed you, usually in the company of Kanao, training beneath the wisteria. He knew you were one of the most likely kinoe to rise to the hashira ranks — just needing to down an upper demon to meet the minimum criteria. You were a little older than your peers and mirrored Muichiro’s rapid ascension to swordsmanship mastery. Fluid, graceful, and swift.
Admittedly, he knew little of the extent of abuse you’d suffered and your current state of recovery, just that you seemed unusually quiet and agreeable around your superiors.
Kagaya continued, “Her name is y/n. I’d like you to take her to investigate a likely upper rank attack. She’s talented but psychologically fragile. It will be a worthy challenge for you both.”
Sanemi was seething. “You just want me to take a kinoe to babysit?”
“Not babysit. She has potential to become the next pillar but doesn’t do well with men. I selected you because I think you’re the most likely to challenge her without overwhelming her,” his breath hitched for a moment as he sighed, “I suspect her former hashira trainer was sexually abusing her in addition to the physical and mental harm. I also suspect she’d find Uzui too intimate and Tomioka too inattentive for this purpose. Do you understand?”
He wasn’t sure if it was the pride that he was better than Giyuu for the task or the anger toward her former master that pushed him over the edge, but Sanemi responded firmly, “I understand.”

Tumblr media
"TANJIRO!!" the blode called out, as the board head laughed maniacly chasing the blonde. "Inosuke stop! We have a mission! Just calm down!"
"FIGHT ME MONITSU!"
"IT'S ZENITSU YOU STUPID BOARD!"
"LANGUAGE! NOT INFRONT OF NEZUKO FOR GOD'S SAKE!!"
"FIGHT ME, FIGHT ME, FIGHT ME!"
"NO ONE WILL FIGHT WITH YOU INOSUKE! JUST STOP CHASING ZENITSU, WE HAVE A JOB TO DO!!"
"AHHHHHH!!!!! NeZuKo-ChAn PlEaSe SaVe M-"
then Zenitsu's girl like scream was able to be heard, as now he was pinned to the ground by Inosuke who trying to drown Zenitsu with his hands, and before he got pulled of off him by Tanjiro, and Nezuko just enjoyed the show these 3 made from a far.
The trio was allways so loud it hurts your ears. You are even suprised how you didn't got caught in the first place. You have feathers that glow in the dark, that shoots warmth around you, it can kill demons like it's sunlight, and it's even looks like their on fire for the God's sake!
Tanjiro, the redhead who is now trying to calm the other two boys down, has a good nose, he can smell things that nobody else can smell. He should smell your feelings, your presence, that you are.... Watching them right now.
Inosuke, the boy who was raised by boars, that is always bullying your darling, has a good senses, he can feel thing others can't. He should feel your presence, the warmth your flames make.
Then your dear dear Zenitsu. Oh how much you wanted to be close to the boy, have him around you, feel his hands on your wings, feel how his cold hands seeks for your warmth ones, to hide him from the world. To beat up Inosuke for what he did to your darling to protect him from everything and everyone.
It's painful.
You can't have him, you can't feel him you can't do anything. It's even painful to look at him and Nezuko. You wanted to be Nezuko. You wanted him to love you. No one else. Only you.
This burning jealousy was eating you, killing you from inside.
You know you sound crazy, you know it's sounds so obsessive, you know it. You aware of it. But you don't care. You never cared. You wanted this anyway. You couldn't care less if someone died around you as long as he is alive.
You would never let that thing happen. You would revive him back. You have tears that heals everything after all, you could used that to keep him alive and only him.
But you can't.
He would be scared of you, he would run from you, he would never loved you back and you know it. But you still protect him at all costs, because that's what you could do.
You watched the three demon slayers finally make it to the train station, as you watched them get on the train, while you followed them. When they got in to the train you soundlessly flew on the train, and watched them how they get along with the flame hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro.
He slayed two demons with ease, before he promised to make the boys his tsugukos. Than the lights flicker and they were sleeping so peacefully. Those kids who wanted to kill them.... You didn't cut down any of the ropes only Zenitsu. And let's say you.... eliminated that kid, as you watched how Zenitsu was sleeping peacefully, with your now-blood stained wings
When you saw that Nezuko.... Tsk... You didn't wanted to kill her, so you locked her in her box, and not letting her out not even for a second. :)
You can't let her take you loved one away now do you?

Tanjiro's face turned into a mirror, he reciprocates the smile you send him whenever he looks down at your lovely face, your head resting in his lap.
"When did you get here?" He lets out a soft chuckle at such a sweet surprise, "Weren't you supposed to train your tsuguko today?" He asks you, one of his fingers delicately brushing an unruly lock away from your face.
Yes, being a hashira is actually not much of an easy task. In fact it is harsh. Demons abound, and it is your task to work for humanity's safety. It often leaves you with little to no time to fool around or to rest, making you long for those summer afternoons sitting by the deck of your estate, with your head on Tanjiro's lap, like you'd always do.
"I was, yeah..." You shrug, giving him a light nod as if with the least of the cares (although he knows you are far from careless, nor heartless). You just cannot ignore your feelings or desires, and if the situation permits it, you allow yourself to indulge in a brief escapade to see your sun and stars, the man of your life.
"They're practicing some postures while I," You sit up, fixing yourself so that your shoulder is resting against his chest, your body in between his legs while one of his thighs passes underneath the bridge of your bent knees. "...come to check on my husband."
When a hand comes to rest on the softness of his sun-kissed cheek, Tanjiro feels the slight difference in temperature. Your hands are often colder than his, and so he always wraps your in his own and helps you warm up — this time is no exception. In response, your thumb strokes over his cheek, your infinite smile, limited by the finiteness of the corners of your lips. The way they curve upwards bring the plushy valleys in the direction of your crescent-moon shaped eyes, your pupils peaking from the apex of your cheeks.
"Did you miss me?" Your question is rhetorical, yet although you know the answer, you never get tired of hearing it. Patiently, you wait for the answer to come out, the pad of your thumb ghosting over his skin in slower and slower circles.
Tanjiro's smile spreads wider at the same time his gaze softens, and although the pinkish tint of his cheeks is undeniably evident, little does he do to hide it. His heart warms up to you every day like it was the first day: every time his gaze, or thoughts, or words land upon you, there is not a single person that could appeal to his love for you. It is just written all over his face.
You close your eyes every time, the softness of his lips pressed against yours give you the sun, the moon and the stars. It's the way your arms always find their way home — around his neck— while you allow yourself to melt into the sweetness of the moment.
"Always."

Warmth (Chapter 1)
Tanjiro x reader
Tw: Blood
I hope you enjoy this new series I've come up with <3
Tumblr media
Y/n Tsuyuri was known to be the complete opposite of her older biological sister, Kanao Tsuyuri.
Only being a year apart, she was rather more open and talkative towards others. Some would describe her as kind, energetic, and a beauty.
She always had a tendency to put others before herself, causing her to be well-liked by others.
"Kanao! Are you alright?" Six-year-old Y/n asked, her voice laced with concern. Kanao nodded as she stared at the wound on her knee, having fallen down while playing a game of 'tag' in the estate's garden.
The wound was rather deep, blood dripping down her leg from it.
Kanao inhaled sharply as Y/n looked at her sadly. "I'm sorry... I should've known this was going to happen..." Y/n mumbled out dejectedly, hanging her head.
Kanao only shook her head. "It's alright..." She replied with her rare voice as she patted her sister's head. "I'll call Kanae or Shinobu, okay?-"
"My, my. What happened here?" A calm and gentle voice rang out behind the two girls. "Kanae!" Y/n yelped out as she turned around to face her sister.
Kanae then knelt in front of Kanao to inspect the wound. "Oh, dear..." She mumbled out as she stood up, eyebrows furrowed. "I'll go back inside to ask Shinobu for some medication. Y/n, please help your sister back inside, okay?" Kanae said with a gentle smile as she patted both their heads.
Y/n nodded as she turned back to Kanao. "Come on," The e/c-eyed girl said as she reached out an arm for Kanao to take. Kanao then took it as she stood up slowly with the help of her sister.
Kanae smiled as she watched them, giggling to herself as she jogged into the estate to find Shinobu.
Seeing how much her sisters cared about her, Kanao couldn't help but smile. A genuine one.
Even after many years, Y/n's benevolent nature hadn't changed, not even a bit.
Even after Kanae's death.
However, like her sister, she occasionally cannot make decisions. Hence, the coin that Kanae gave her.
"Hey, there's someone," Y/n heard a voice. She hummed as she turned around, smiling. A noticeable butterfly was fluttering its wings while being on her finger. A well a tornado of butterflies surrounding her.
"That would be um..."
"Oh, right! The Tsuguko..."
"That's Lady Y/n Tsuyuri,"
'Isn't he the one who was with that demon?' Y/n thought to herself as she observed the burgundy-haired boy. 'Should I introduce myself?'
"It's the girl from Final Selection." The boy remarked.
"Hey, somebody's forgotten how they got stomped on by Lady Kanao last night." the Kakushi said teasingly.
Y/n had to stifle a chuckle as she recalled the memory. 'Maybe it's better if I kept silent. Shinobu had ordered me not to interact with strangers that I am not familiar with after all.'
"A Tsuguko is a swordsman being trained by a Hashira. Only the most talented and highly skilled get selected. And she's a girl. Impressive, huh?" the Kakushi explained.
The female Kakushi then waled towards Y/n and bowed in front of her. "Please forgive us, Lady Tsuyuri. We come on orders from Lady Kocho." The Kakushi then stood upright.
"May we enter the mansion?" She asked.
"Of course," Y/n replied with a closed-eyed smile.
"And who are you?" Another voice boomed behind them, making everyone except Y/n jump and yelp.
"Oh, Aoi!" Y/n greeted as she waved at the blue-eyed girl. "We were ordered by Lady Kocho!" The female Kakushi explained frantically.
"I see. You're a Kakushi," Aoi remarked. "You've brought an injured person, correct?"
Aoi then walked towards them. "Please come this way." "Uh, right!" the Kakushi exclaimed as they all followed Aoi. "She's fast!"
Y/n then turned around to face them as they all walked away, giggling as she covered her mouth with her hand.
Not knowing that a certain burgundy-haired boy was staring at her.

Heyo! can i please ask some headcanons of yandere! Tanjiro with a fem! reader who is the adoptive younger sister of Kyojuro Rengoku?
How would Tanjiro react if his beloved is nothing more and nothing less than the Tsuguko of the flame hashira, besides being his younger sister? You can decide if Kyojuro is dead or alive in these headcanons :') although both scenarios would be fine (I already went to my DR and there I am Kyojuro and Senjuro's sister, so the idea seemed interesting to me jhasha)
Warnings: Yandere themes
Pairing: Tanjiro x gn!reader
Note(s): Hello! I'm not sure if you've read the pinned post on my profile, but I don't write for female readers :(. I hope you don't mind that I changed the reader's gender to gn, and I'm only going to write general yandere headcanons of Tanjiro.
Tumblr media
» Tanjiro isn't even aware of the way he acts towards you. He only wants to protect you and keep you safe because the world is a cruel place, and he can't stand the thought of losing you as well.
» This poor boy has been left with trauma after seeing his dead family members, and it shows through his need for closeness and the need to protect people close to him.
» Tanjiro can actually be kind of sweet when you listen to him, but he can switch quickly if, for example, you go out when he has told you not to do so.
» He doesn't want to hurt you, and he won't lay his hand on you in a negative manner even when he's angry at you, but he will lock you in a room for "your own safety".
» One thing's for sure, and it's that Tanjiro's clingy. He wants to hold you in his arms, and he wants you to stay close to him no matter where he is. This also means that you two will be sharing baths, etc. Together.
» He will let you have friends, but only when he knows them. He doesn't like to keep you close to Zenitsu, though, because that boy will get a crush on everyone, you included, and he doesn't want anyone to steal you from him.
» Tanjiro loves it when you spend time with his little sister, Nezuko, because he's really family-oriented. In fact, he wants to build a family with you in it.
Tumblr media
Author's note: I hope you liked these headcanons! I'm really sorry that I couldn't fulfill your request 100%, but I still hope that you got a chance to enjoy these.

⤷ WHEN THUNDER MEETS RAIN
Tumblr media
AGATSUMA ZENITSU X READER -> 0.9K the boy best known for being a coward finally summons the courage to do what he's wanted to do for a while now
Tumblr media
REQUEST -> ✰ CONTAINS -> suggestive (?) content, fluff????, gn reader, reader is a tsuguko to the water hashira, i used the word among, anime personality of zenitsu a little sorry :(, man fuckit just ooc zenitsu i think cos i wrote him as a fucking FUCKBOY pfjdjdjxjjsk, not my best work here i am sorry MORI'S THOUGHTS -> ngl i just did one of those wheel spins to choose the hashira lmao so idk if i accidentally clash with what goes down in the manga 😀🧍🏻‍♀️also @saintreneschapel (idk why it won't let me tag you) thank you so much for being so patient forgive me for how long this took shawty🙏
Tumblr media
-> ok so the randomly assigned hashira that you are a tsuguko for is none other that mr giyuu!!
-> he's,,,, strict? he pushes you hard, but that is how you improve after all
-> and hell, you're grateful
-> under his teaching, you've gained skills and knowledge beyond your years, and you wield them with confidence every time you grip your sword
-> finally, it's time to gain some experience as well
-> giyuu and you had been called forth alongside shinobu to act as backup for a troup of demon slayers who had been sent to hunt down a demon family
-> with the presence of a lower six demon among them, it was the most sensible choice to bring in backup
-> you knew that your role was predominantly that of rescuing any survivors, and to avoid combat as much as possible
-> and you did exactly that, covering as much ground of the thick forest as you could
-> you came across a clearing, finding the unconscious body of a boy clad in brightly coloured uniform
-> his pulse was weak, and you were quick to call over some medics to put him on a stretcher and get him to safety
-> and yeah
-> you were a little disappointed that your first real mission had little to do with fighting, but that's life
-> so, like the rest of the new demon slayer corps recruits, you ended up at the butterfly mansion
-> you were far from injured, though
-> in fact, you were here with the strict instructions of assisting in nursing the three recruits back to health
-> method of choice: helping them regain their sense of combat through sparring
-> while the boy known as tanjiro was quick to return to training, the other two took some further convincing
-> you weren't sure what to think of them
-> you had only met one of them previously when selecting the ore for your sword, and he went by the name of zenitsu
-> your first impression of him was not particularly positive, since he was on the verge of tears and wishing to go home the entire time
-> his feelings were understandable, considering that he didn't even want to be a demon slayer in the first place
-> however, you discovered another aspect of his personality when partnered with him for sparring that had you wrinkling your brow in disgust
-> you see, zenitsu had this slight tendency to break the ice with any person he meets by asking them to marry him
-> ask would be too kind of a word, not when the boy all but dropped to his feet and begged you
-> no matter your urgent shushes, he would only plead harder
-> it ended up with you delivering a swift kick to his chest, sending him flying back a metre or so
-> "why don't you defeat me first, then we'll talk?"
-> and would you look at that, you've got a sparring partner for life
Tumblr media
-> as far as recovery went, zenitsu was doing well
-> you were a bit ashamed to only see him as a wimp and a crybaby at the beginning, because once he really settled into fighting, he was good
-> more often than not, you’d struggle to fend off his attacks
-> but that just meant he was healing, right?
-> maybe it was the raw determination on his face to sweep your legs out from under you that had you feeling flustered at times
-> or the way that he was actually respectful once he had calmed down
-> either way, you had far from forgotten what just seemed like throwaway words that day
-> and honestly? going a little easy on zenitsu was looking more and more appealing
-> though you doubted that you would need to to do that with the speed that zenitsu was regaining his skills
-> and so comes the fated day
-> maybe he woke up feeling extra powerful, because zenitsu was not letting up any time soon
-> your swords were practically locked together the entire time
-> you were quickly realising that your back was about to hit the wall, and zenitsu's attacks were still relentless
-> in fact, it was when you found your sword being ripped from your grasp by a clever disarm that you realised just how much zenitsu had recovered
-> and now you really were cornered
-> even though it was just blunt wood, the sword pressed to your chest was a clear indication of who had the upper hand right now
-> "so how about it, y/n?"
-> zenitsu had a small smile on his face, a blush adorning his cheeks as he recalled what you had said so many days ago
-> you flushed too, your head turning to the side
-> "baby steps, zen"
-> the boy perked up at that, a smile spreading across his face as he processed your words
-> his sword returned to its sheath, and he took a step forward to really cage you against the wall and his arms
-> "then how's this for a first step?"
-> his hand was resting against your face, and he tilted your chin to capture your lips in a kiss
-> he must have woken up on the right side of the bed today, and you weren't complaining
-> his lips were soft, much softer than you expected, and you felt your eyes slide shut as you returned the kiss
-> your fingers wrapped around his wrist, keeping him close to you as he deepened the kiss
-> when the two of you finally broke apart, slightly out of breath, you watched zenitsu smile all over again as he took in your awestruck expression
-> "i'd say that's a good way to begin"

"What if, we're made for each other?"
Rengoku x Time Travelled! Reader
He deserved so much better 🧡 .RIP Kyo.
@yomoya-girl
------------------------------
Right so you are in modern century Japan yeah
The hustle and bustle of the city, you love it. Being in the quiet country side drives you bat shit crazy to say it nicely.
One morning it all changed. You were just walking down the high street heading to work, demon slayer manga in hand from you previously reading it on the bus when there was a tap on your shoulder. You turned around to see a woman standing infront of you
She looked relatively normal so you thought she was just asking for directions
She started to ask questions that came off as normal but felt slightly creepy such as who your fav character was, why did you read it, and the creepiest one, would you ever give up your life to be in demon slayer?
When you answered Rengoku to the character and after a long while you said no to giving up your life to live in demon slayer you realised from her expression that that was not the right answer.
Her face twisted into an angered expression and before you could react she pushed you, hard infront of a fast moving lorry which in turn, knocked you dead
You woke up a little while later to the feeling of being shaken and the sound of yelling I front of you.
You opened your eyes to see a very concerned looking red haired boy infront of you, hands on your shoulders. Behind him a person with the face of a girl and the body of a boy and a random blonde haired kid who was crying his eyes out.
Then it hit you.
You scrambled up and looked about. You were in demon slayer.
The boy infront, Tanjiro you now recognised, had shaken you gently again asking you to tell them what happened and if you were alright
You told the three what happened and they all seemed confused but believed you, especially when you pulled out your phone.
From then on you joined Tanjiro and the squad on their journey. Until the fateful day you all got called to the Demon Slayer Corp itself.
Soon enough you were infront of the hashira themselves, Tanjiro was full pelt panicking but you were just internally fangirling
But when yoy and Kyojuro made eye contact it was like you had been struck hard in the head with something, and so had he.
He looked at you with something resembling interest as you were both carried to the butterfly estate by the Kakushi, and you being the fanatic you are, could not make eye contact for the life of you.
When you eventually got to the butterfly estate the only choice you had was to talk to him
You both chatted about where you were from and how you came to be a slayer and then the incident came up .
You both shared the pain you felt when making eye contact and you both felt the same.
After getting out the infirmary, Rengoku expressed the want to his master about taking you as his tsguko. (Totslly not a ruse to get to know you better as he had defo not taken an interest)
WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE
The master allowed it and you started as his Tsuguko.
It was interesting but you eventually got used to the intense training and then the deep emotional conversations over dinner in the evening.
Kyo found himself getting fonder amd fonder of you amd you him.
Eventually you shared how you actually got to his world and he sat and listened to you as if he was going to die if he wasn't.
His growing feelings for you were getting harder and harder for him to hide and your growing feelings for him were getting harder and harder to conceal aswell .
Personally he didn't think it was good to have a tsguko-mentor relationship so randomly one day during training he summed all his courage up and told you he didn't want you to be his Tsuguko anymore.
You heart just about broke, and then it mended
He said he didn't want you to be his Tsuguko anymore, he wanted to court you instead.
You were over the fucking moon lass
Everything you aspired had just come true and you could not be happier.
You continued to study underneath Mitsuri as her Tsuguko instead and loved every minute of it whilst Rengoku took the three wild boys.
No matter what you could not be happier with anything else then being accidently thrown into the realm of demon slayer, because in the end, it all works out.

thorns and roses // tanjiro x reader
Author’s Note: Finally got around to completing @allurajarren‘s request! I hope you like this! I am so sorry that it took so long! I’m really proud of this one considering it’s my first proper anime request haha. I hope ya’ll like this, guys.
Word count: 2393
Pairing: Kamado Tanjiro x Reader
Warnings: fluff, slight angst
Tumblr media
Ever since you were a young child, you’ve been told that a person like you could never make friends. You had around you a mighty wall, which no one bothered to even look at, let alone make the effort to jump over, which left you misunderstood, alone, and obviously, broken.
You were what you’d call, a lone ranger, secretly caring for people but can’t pause and let them get to know you—you weren’t scared, per say, you were cautious, and perhaps learning that your kindness was hidden and was not a gift you would so willingly give away.
On most nights, you pondered if this was how your life was going to be. An elder sister, married away to a family that could not stand you, and parents long dead from disease and strife—you were forced to move, adapt and learn new things to survive, but it was on one chilly, winter night did you figure out that your method of survival was not the only way to go. You were not one to believe in demons, but when your eyes landed on a small statured demon feeding on a person who was talking to you just moments ago, you were frozen to your spot.
You immediately shut your eyes, knowing that this was all you were going to live for, tears leaking from the side of your eyes when your one breath turned to two, and two turned four and you were breathing still—forcing you to open your eyes and meet with a rather strange man, a snake around his neck. He spotted you, on the ground, crying and didn’t bother to offer help. He had saved your life, after all, that was all the help you were getting.
“If you want to live,” He said, “You might need to learn a few more things.”
You wanted to learn. You wanted to be more like this man—quiet, yet callously dangerous, a large wall around him that you could literally feel around him. You didn’t want to say he reminded you of you, because you were in no comparison to the strength this man unfolded before you. Yet, you wanted to be more like him—learn and adapt in ways that could let you survive the way he had.
“Can you teach me?” You asked, your voice a mere whisper.
“No,” He didn’t look hesitant, but you could tell from his eyes that he pitied you, “But I do know someone who can.”
That was how you met Kanroji Mitsuri, who more than willingly took you under her wing—wanting to learn more about you, carry you in her arms, feed you so much food that you could barely eat, and had Obanai-san watch the two of you as you interacted. Kanroji refused to teach you her breathing technique, however, which left you confused.
Confused, only for a while.
It was one morning when you were foraging did you feel your breath be taken away. As curious as you were, you approached the flower, in all its beauty and callous demeanour, and stood there, admiring it. It was a blue rose, but you could not touch it. Thorns spread around its stem, forbidden anyone from even getting close—forcing the onlookers to admire it from afar. You were mesmerised because this flower reminded you of you, not that you considered yourself as elegant as the flower, no—but it was the thorns that melted your heart straight away.
It was one of the most beautiful things you had ever seen—and that was when you realised it; some of the most beautiful things come wrapped in thorns. What Mitsuri-san had told you made so much more sense. You, at the time, were just a misunderstood 11-year old with nothing to lose.
You merely aimed to be something more than just that.
*
Three years passed with you having become a demon slayer. You had mastered your own breathing technique, under the supervision of Mitsuri-san and Obanai-san of course, who merely instructed you and did nothing more. Mitsuri introduced you to Shinobu after you passed, earning you the rank of a Tsuchinoe immediately for having been somewhat of a tsuguko.
You believed this was all your life was going to be like. Mitsuri-san and Obanai-san are the only ones who knew you past your thorns, and there was no need for anyone else to fill any sort of gaps, if there were any.
You wanted to believe you were happy, you wanted to believe that you were content with the kind of life you were living, but you couldn’t help but feel a void growing in your chest, day in and day out—and no matter how strong you thought you got, you were feeling a tad bit more hollow each day.
“(y/n)-chan,” Shinobu’s voice broke you out of your reverie as you were training, “We’ve got a mission.”
You always were mesmerised with her sing-song voice, though there was something odd about it that you couldn’t quite place your finger on. You nodded before heading into the estate to change and get yourself ready to leave, unaware that Shinobu was watching you the whole time.
“(y/n)-chan,” You paused as she beckoned you, “I wish you’d let people in some more. Kindness oozes out of you, yet you pick them up carefully like pebbles on the beach floor.”
You smile at her softly, “Shinobu-san, the world isn’t kind. My smiles won’t end the demons. My blade will.”
She nodded because what more could she say? You reminded her of herself from long ago, and you had said the same thing she had said to her sister before she had died. Your heart was fixed on something, and there could be nothing that could sway your mind—nothing apart from a storm.
They say that there’s a circle drawn around the very area you were standing on; this was how fate worked, in strange and bizarre ways. You were never not meant to be here and you were never not meant to meet a certain brown haired boy.
You sensed four demons ahead and what was strange was only three of them were hostile—confusing you at how a demon could just stay around people and not attack them. But that was not what you were going to think of, you were told to assist the humans there and that was what you were going to do.
Your eyes widened when you spotted a boy with a box on his back, facing off against three demons. The brown haired male looked a bit distracted when the demon approached the box on his back—forcing you to quickly jump on a trunk and breathe—
“Breathe of the Blue Rose,” You unsheathed your sword in an instant before standing still against the trunk of the tree, “Dance of the Briar,”
The boy below you froze as thorns grew around you, heavy and thick, with tiny blue roses blooming from the tips, and in one instant, the thorns wrapped around the three demons before you jumped and slashed each of their heads off, in one clean swipe. You landed on your feet ahead of the demon slayer, before turning to him and looking at him—cold eyes met warm ones, and you swore that this boy’s eyes showed you that the past, present and future were all the same thing.
“That was... That was amazing...” He said, and you ignored him.
“There’s a demon on your back.” You said, starting to unsheathe your sword.
His eyes suddenly widened, “N-No! I can explain—”
You stilled when you sensed a stronger demon presence coming from half a mile away. There were a few humans there, and you had to pick one over the other. Clicking your tongue, you glared at the boy in front of you, before sheathing your sword again.
“If you are caught protecting a demon, it could mean trouble. I hope you know that.”
Just as you were about to leave, “Thank you so much for saving my life!”
You didn’t bother on responding, but for some reason, your heart couldn’t stop beating rapidly.
*
The next time you saw the brown haired boy was in the butterfly estate. Shinobu had asked you and Aoi to help out, considering how there were quite a few people who required assistance—and this boy, Kamado Tanjiro in particular, was special.
You learned from the Hashira that Tanjiro’s sister had been turned into a demon, but had not hurt a single human being thus far. So that’s the demon on his back, you thought, looking at him while he was asleep. You knew from the way he was shifting and turning that he would wake up any moment, after which you were to administer his medicine. You felt bad for him, curious about the kind of life he had led, after having his entire family be killed by Muzan, and his only remaining family was turned into a demon. It broke your heart, and you bit your lip, unable to express what you were feeling.
“It’s you...” you heard Tanjiro’s frail voice alert you, before you turned around and handed him his daily medicine.
“It’s bitter.” You said before the boy drank it without question.
His blond friend was still asleep, considering it had been just two days since they were brought back to the estate. You watched as Tanjiro attempted to sit up, and you were sure he was going to engage in some conversation with you. You wanted to leave before that happened.
Just as you were about to get up, you heard him say, “You’re... Why are you so sad?”
Your eyes widened and you let out a soft gasp before you turned to look at him, looking at you earnestly. How did he know that? You gulped before frowning at him, causing him to suddenly regret what he said, and walked away—not intending on answering his question. Of course, it had caught you off-guard, but that did not mean it didn’t encroach on your boundaries. Boundaries, huh... you thought as you walked toward Tanjiro’s sister’s room.
What use are these boundaries at all? You thought as you opened the door, only intending to check up on the girl.
You expected to see the demon asleep or passive, but the second you entered, you saw her sitting up on the bed, with three layers of blankets over her.
You knew demons couldn’t go out in the sun and you knew she was trying to avoid any bit of sunlight there was so that she doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Walking over to the window, you put over a dark colored sheet over the curtain to further prevent light from getting in.
“Is that better?” You asked Nezuko, as you learned her name, only to have her grumble with joy.
You wanted to smile at her, your heart going out for the tragedy that these siblings had gone through. Slowly, without realising it, your hand reached her head and you patted her just twice, her eyes staring into your soul.
“I’m sorry, Nezuko-san,” You whispered, “I wish I was better at this.”
A second later, her hand held your own which was on her head and she brought it to her cheek, cradling it softly. You were frozen to the spot you stood on, admiring this demon’s ability to show more kindness than you had ever been able to, and you felt your lips quiver.
That evening, you noticed Aoi attempt to walk to the room Tanjiro was in. You rushed to her before grabbing her arm, staring at her.
“Do...” She had no idea what you were trying to tell her, “Do you want to give this to him?”
You nodded once before she giggled and handed you the medicine, and you entered the room to find Tanjiro already awake, smiling at you. You wanted to smile back but only a frown was plastered on your face, which for some reason, he smiled at you wider for. You quickly handed him the medicine before turning to leave, but Tanjiro stopped you.
“Could you s-stay for a moment? I’d like the company!”
You narrowed your eyes before feeling a soft blush come on your features, as you sat down beside his bed on the stool. Tanjiro drank his medicine quietly and once again smiled at you.
“I never caught your name.” He said, bashfully.
     “(y/n).”
     “Just (y/n)?”
You nodded. Your sister and yourself never had a surname. If you did, you couldn’t remember it.
“(y/n)-chan, thank you for saving my life! Your breath style was just so beautiful, I couldn’t look away!”
You blushed at how easily he complimented you, and cleared your throat not knowing what to say, “Thank you...” came out rather softly but he seemed all the more happier that you were just there.
A moment later, you looked at him and asked, “Why did you ask me that?”
He blinked, “For your name?”
“No, why did you ask me if I was sad?” The real question was, how did you know?
“Ah,” Tanjiro scratched the back of his head, “I could... I smelled it off you. Not meaning it in any creepy way, really! I just... You are so kind, your hands, your eyes—they’re all brimming with kindness, yet, your sadness masks them all. You’re like the rose from your breathing technique,”
You gasped at his words.
     “The thorns being your sadness.”
“Tanjiro-san...” Your face was steaming hot. “I... I’m not good at any of this.”
     “Not good at what?”
“I’ve always been by myself,” You couldn’t believe what was happening, “When Obanai-san found me, I thought I was dead. No one’s tried to know how I feel or what I want or how I sound like... I’ve always just been here, living by myself, feeling by myself—it’s no different from not knowing how to talk. How can I...? How I can ever dream of letting go of my insecurities? I can’t be who I want to be because—”
“Of course you can,” Tanjiro’s smile was blinding, “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or feel happy because thorns have roses. Ultimately, you can’t accept the beauty of a rose without the thorns, right?”
You quickly stood up, feeling so bashful that you thought you’d die.
“I hope you get better soon!”
You ran out of the room, unable to contain yourself. What exited your mouth after that was a laugh, a sound so unfamiliar to you that you felt strange—warmth coursing through your veins as you rushed to the training ground. You were breathing heavily right then, tears pricking your eyes. You were not sad, not even close, yet you felt the overwhelming need to cry—as if to cleanse your system off the thoughts you have always had about yourself, your reservations, your beliefs.
You pictured Mitsuri-san’s smile right then, and you smiled back, covering your face with your palms. Slowly, you brought your hands down, the smile still intact on your face.
Thank you, you thought, Tanjiro-san.
*
As days passed, you were slowly becoming a new person. Tanjiro had started his training with Kanao-chan, with Inosuke and Zenitsu awake and attending the sessions as well. Tanjiro was assigned to train with you as well—where all he had to do was race you to a finish line.
All set in the woods—your place for victory.
While you easily beat them over forty times, you noticed how hard Tanjiro worked each and every single day—and all this was for Nezuko, who had gone back to sleep after you had met her that first day. You approached Tanjiro with a smile on your face, patting him on the shoulder, alerting his attention. He turned to you and froze, which caused you to still as well, tilting your head in confusion.
“Is something wrong?” You asked, still smiling.
Tanjiro’s own smile grew in retaliation and he shook his head.
“You’re...” You’re beautiful, he wanted to say, “It’s nice to see you smiling!”
Your smile only grew before saying, “It’s all thanks to you!”
You spotted Zenitsu and Inosuke slowly catch up and you smiled at them before folding your arms.
“You can try using the breathing technique while you run,” You suggested, “It’s hard at first, but you’ll get used to it. Your movements will be lagged initially, but with practice, you’ll learn to move much, much faster.”
“While running? That’ll kill me for sure!” Zenitsu said, causing you to chuckle.
“I can do it!” Inosuke yelled out loud.
Tanjiro watched you, feeling tears well up in his eyes. He sensed your sadness still, but he also sensed a growing sense of concern lodge itself in your heart —for them, and he couldn’t be happier.
That night, you noticed Tanjiro sitting on the roof of the estate. You easily jumped to him and sat beside him, not wanting to alert him when he was in a stupor. A second later however,
“(y/n)-chan? There’s something I saw in the woods the other day. Would you like to come see?”
You nodded, curious as to what it could be. A moment later, Tanjiro offered you his hand, for which you gulped before taking it, feeling heat rush to your cheeks. He led you into the forest in absolute silence, but the sound of your heart slammed against your ears and you were certain that even the brown haired boy could hear it.
He could hear it, but hardly, because his own heartbeat was raging in his chest.
When the two of you reached a clearing, it was one of the most mesmerizing sights you had ever laid eyes on. White roses, reflected in the blue of the moonlight, shone in their bed of thorns—enchanting you with every breath you took.
“Tanjiro-san,” You didn’t know what to say, “This is beautiful!”
He went ahead and picked one flower from a bed of thorns, before handing it to you. You were amazed at how beautiful these flowers were, a feeling rushing inside your heart that you couldn’t quite place. You smelled it, a soft smile sitting on your lips as you let out a sigh of happiness. Tanjiro blinked at you, with a grin.
“Thorns don’t stop you from sniffing,” He said, “Or putting them in a vase or admiring them. You work around them. Because the rose is worth it... Think of what you'd miss.”
You blushed at his words, unaware of where this was going.
     “Tanjiro-san, you...”
Your heart was beating so loudly you were going deaf. You felt him come closer to you, taking your hand in his, his forehead dangerously close to yours. You wanted to hold him just then, but you were unsure. Hesitant.
But so, so deeply in love.
“I love you,” he whispered, and kissed your brow. “Thorns and all.”
Suddenly, everything else didn’t matter—the void in your chest was filled with sunlight, a dancing flame that burned brighter than the rest. Staring into his eyes, you smiled as tears leaked out of your (e/c) ones before feeling Tanjiro’s hand reach your cheek and bring your forehead to touch his.
“I think I’ve loved you from the second you saved my life, (y/n)-chan,” He said, shutting his eyes. “And there is not any wall I wouldn’t scale for you.”
Your hands wound themselves around his neck before breathing into his scent, feeling his skin touch yours, his hair tickle your cheek—Tanjiro embraced you back, feeling his arms protectively wrap around your figure, as he kissed you softly on your cheek. There was no need for you to hide away anymore—and there was no need for you to be afraid of your kindness.
If there was one thing Tanjiro was good at, it was at loving you.
And if there was one thing you were good at, it was returning the love that is given to you.
