I want to brat and rage! I’m mad and feel bad so now it’s everyone else’s problem. Hmph! >:( I would totally brat/tantrum enough yan demon bros wouldn’t have me clean dishes by hand. It’s a sensory ick for me and I’ve already done them so often and so much that it has caused damage to my hands when it’s colder out. Gloves don’t help they’re either too short or too thin. I already don’t feel good, and I don’t want to clean stupid dishes that I didn’t even dirty. Not my responsibility to pick up other people’s messes like okay yeah 3-4 dishes are mine from last night when I had leftovers but why do I have to wash all of them when I only dirtied a couple of them plus I have ouches on my hand I don’t want to soak it in soapy dirty water to clean something -Bunny (I’m mostly just complaining cuz I can I don’t mind that much when I’m not feeling bad it may not seem like it but I am big I don’t want to be tho but can’t risk it rn)

This is soooo old I’m sorry— but I have the SAME PROBLEM.

I get sensory issues over certain textures and especially certain SMELLS and it drives me (and everyone I’ve ever lived with) nuts. One of my sensory hells is tomato scented anything. Which doesn’t seem like a big deal… Except when I can’t have anyone I’m eating with use ketchup for anything, eat pasta, chilli, ect. I don’t mind the taste— I actually really like it! But the smell of canned tomatoes just makes me feel like I’m going to vomit.

I’ve literally thrown out plates instead of trying to touch them after ketchup calcified on a plate.

A behaviour I’m sure the brothers, who’s house I am an unwilling and permanent guest in, would not stand for.

Forced to wash other peoples dishes by hand is a cruel and unusual punishment that gets employed when you misbehave.

Threw a slipper at Leviathan, and it missed by a country mile? Boom: clean up milk stained glasses with soggy cookie crumbs encrusted at the bottom.

2. You got me thinking about enemies to lovers, hardcore. And I realized, when I enjoy that kind of ship, I’m not here to see them become all lovey-dovey and domestic. I’m here to see the pain, and the toxicity, and the deep codependency of it all. The ‘I hate you, but I can’t leave you’, and the ‘you might kill me one day, and I embrace that.’ If you’ve watched Hannibal, you know exactly what I mean 😂 For Vlad and Danny, I don’t really give a fuck if it’s pompep or badgercereal, i just want angst and codependency 😈 I think that’s part of what I like about your story so much, is that it’s toeing the line between the two relationships. Halfway parental, and halfway toxic/romantic love.

3. You’ve fucking ruined me for other fanfiction rn 😭😂 I can’t read anything else for more than five minutes 🥲 Partially bc I’m so invested in the story, but also bc your writing style IS SO FUCKING GOOD. 1. I don't want to spoil the plot too much, but Danny's diet is going to be key in unraveling a very important part of Vlad's enigma, and I cannot wait to get to that point. I've been sprinkling crumbs of information throughout the story thus far, laying down a foundation upon which to build this Big Thing, and the next chapter (14) will—or should, anyway—finally begin to deliver on it.

2. My friend, you've just given me an epiphany: it's not so much Enemies to Lovers that we adore, I suspect, as it is Enemies and Lovers. That's exactly the tag I'd use to describe Hannigram, and it's such a different and exciting dynamic. I've never quite—well, scratch that—okay, I've never written Enemies and Lovers in such depth as I am with Familiar. There's something darkly satisfying about letting lovers remain ugly; the notion that deep, abiding affection can exist in tandem with fear and disgust; that even monsters—in the very act of being monstrous, or perhaps because they are monstrous and not in spite of their monstrosity—are capable of loving and being loved.

3. Frhgahrglahrglahg I'm going to print and frame this one and hang it on my wall for days when I feel utterly inept. I've been writing fanfiction for a while now, and I've written volumes of silly, embarrassing, poorly-executed tripe, so if I haven't at least gotten a little bit good at what I'm doing, I doubt I ever will 😆 That said, I'm putting a lot of effort into Familiar, I mean pulling out every stop and employing every nut and bolt in my mental toolbox to craft a good story (and reading. Always reading), partly as a challenge to myself and partly out of sheer love for this great ship and its fandom. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming and awesome. I only hope my tiny contribution continues to entertain.

OK NOW THAT YOUVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED HANNIBAL I CAN TELL YOU MY MASON VERGER STORY. OH MY GOD. so . back when i first watched hannibal i was liveblogging my experience over discord chats with aster since shes the one who recommended it to me . ok. and this was myyyy senior year of college so i was ENTRENCHED in marine biology type courses ok. i specifically had a class on aquarium exhibit design and i was going a little bit insane abt it because my professor sucked. anyway. i an rambling. so i see mason vergers motherfucking eel tank and i go NUTS about it.

EELS NEED SHIT TO HIDE IN AND HE IS KEEPING THEM IN THE AQUARIUM EQUIVALENT OF A CEMENT BRICK. oh it made me so mad. notice the timestamp too this was like. near-midnight sleep deprived madness. theres like a whole rant about enrichment along with this that im not including bc it spanned the course of like 3 hours.

just a little list for me to remember all the things i'm doing rn that are helping me...

mushroom complex (cordys <3, maitake, reishi, lions mane, turkey tail (shown in studies to help pcos/insulin resistance!), chaga)

probiotics... (gummies but i am getting back to being able to eat yogurt!)

waking up early & naturally and doing things immediately instead of laying on phone (been doing dishes or other cleaning things!) (also extra good when/if i can do stuff or walk for a while before eating breaksfast. good for mitochondria)

good breakfasts.. greens &/or whole grains with protein (lots of lentil daal/mole & brown rice)

less refined sugars... (mostly just having my tea/coffee with agave, less cookies and ice creams and etc.)

eating in middle of workday when i get hungry (nuts usually) (i want to get the pom blueberry pistachio kind bars... i never want to eat chocolate when im hungry ksjdfhdsjk)

things i'd like to do more of -

remembering to brush teeths in morning too (it's easier at night because i know i'm Done eating/drinking things that aren't water. in the morning it's so hard because after bfast im still drinking coffee/tea, eating probiotic gummies, etc)

yoga & stretching... (i was doing well for a bit but fell off, it's hard to have enough space bcs our room is too small. should try to do it at the cat's house for now.... just harder to follow videos on my phone.)

being more firm about not eating after ~8pm because i get weed in me then i wanna eat Snackies but i know i'm not actually hungry :'-(

tbh washing my face more bcs i basically only wash it when i shower and i am breaking out. also i need more lite sauce. & witch hazel toner. that's my perfect skin combo.

I agree so much with your thoughts on season 4 so far. I don't understand why they placed all the blame on TK. I'm starting to give up on the show. I was mainly watching for Tarlos, but their relationship doesn't feel very fun to ship rn. It's becoming (for me) more about coming up with off screen excuses for why they're acting like they are rather than appreciating what I actually get. I felt nothing about the latest episode other than annoyance that so much was handled wrong or left out, and that's probably the right point to just get out.

I am a big proponent of “if it doesn’t make you happy – don’t keep doing it.” But, I am also a big fan of second chances.

I totally sympathize with the struggle with all the off screen moments we mostly have to assume occurred, unless they are specifically referenced at a future point. It gets very frustrating when we just want to see the realness of their coupledom, but have to imagine it.

I know I keep saying this, but, I will say it again – writing helps me so much with processing how I feel about whatever I am seeing/experiencing – I have done this since Middle School– but only recently started keeping/sharing it with others. Even just responding to the things in my inbox is very beneficial to me.

The need to blame TK for stuff is also very frustrating – if you watched the 100 – you get used to it – even if it still drives you nuts, and while it will annoy and frustrate me (except when actually warranted) - I can just write all the petty TK scenes I want – and each one makes me feel a little bit better.

I think shipping has it highs and lows – in a lot of ways – the beginning of season 4 showed them to us at what we thought was a high point for them. But then we learn some information that made a lot of people question things – then as we processed that they dropped the kidnapping thing on us – bringing us to a low point for them. I really do think that we are back on the upswing now, or I am at least optimistically hopeful that we are.

I do think that there will also be a bit of a break in how much we see Tarlos – at least until 4x08. That gives us time to have everything kind of soak in, which might help.

Another thing to look forward to: We are going to see more of the rest of the characters – I can’t wait to see what is going on with Marjan & Grace next episode. Or to finally meet a love interest for Paul – really looking forward to that.

If you need a break, take one – sometimes it helps us re-enjoy the things that we once found pleasure in – be it media or real-life things. Other times, it gives us the clarity to realize that what we once enjoyed, just isn’t there for us anymore – leaving room for something new.

I am also a fan of not watching the parts that you don’t enjoy – skipping over them – is totally fine. I do it with a few scenes throughout the series – For example: I personally hate a part of the DNR storyline for Nancy and hated that it was her first real central storyline – I skip over the scene at Tommy’s house – there was just something about how it felt like Tommy and Nancy were trying to guilt the woman to drop her lawsuit – even though her suit was valid, that still doesn’t set right with me – and I LOVE both Tommy & Nancy. That scene just makes me uncomfortable – it makes me think of people I know with DNRs and how they would feel if someone disregarded their legally made decisions.

Do what is best for you and if you need it, I am always hear to listen.

So I’ve been getting nauseous, a little lightheaded and dizzy, and a bit shaky about an hour after I get home from the gym.

I usually do some form of weights which depending on the breaks I take can take 45 min to an hour. Nothing super heavy right now, actually pretty light 5x5s, never going to failure, and with 1-3 min of rest between sets. Afterwards, I like to do a little cardio because cardio is good for the heart and like 150min of moderate cardio is recommended per week for general health or whatever. Then I have my protein shake on the drive home.

I used to do a lot of arc trainer and do like 15-20mi of vigorous cardio since that counts as like 30-40 of moderate but it’s less time. When I started feeling sick, I thought maybe that vigorous exercise is just a bit much for me right now (like I’m getting sick or something? Idk). So I switched to spinning, light-moderate effort (like just getting HR into that moderate zone), for like 25 min + 5 min “cooldown.”

Spoiler alert, the nausea is still happening and I’m getting super annoyed by it. Yesterday, I couldn’t even THINK about the dinner I had planned (lentil pasta, because I actually really like the taste but dislike the texture of regularly cooked lentils, and also folate!). I had to make toast and jam and wait like half an hour before I felt well enough to have a proper meal.

I think I need more carbs, maybe a little more salt too. I loosely tracked a couple of days to see where I’m at with carbs, and unsurprisingly, it was definitely low. Now I’m trying to find ways to up my carbs at meals in general, especially the more starchy carbs, and it’s been surprisingly difficult? Most of my carbs rn come from fruits, and I’ve realized we just don’t have a lot of carby foods easily cooked or ready to eat. We don’t even have potatoes?? (Clearly this needs to be remedied; I just struggle to cook them myself because executive dysfunction). Last year I was trying to up my fat intake since I was still kinda stuck in the low fat foods I just always ate, and now I feel like I’m so good at eating fats with my favorite 2% milk, eggs, avocado, nuts and seeds, not-extra-lean turkey, etc, that I don’t have room for the starchy carbs. But my body seems to be screaming at me to MAKE room for them.

Anyway, that’s why my “dinner” tonight was like 2x my normal amount of oatmeal (with a banana and some strawberries). And why I am probably going to get more starchy foods when we go grocery shopping next, especially potatoes because I love potatoes, and maybe bagels or naan to mix up breads. We have dried rice but it’s such a pain and a time commitment to cook, and we have bread for toast but sandwiches and toast get so tiring after some time too.

I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS WOMAN. sorry she's just SOOOOOO interesting to me. So cool so strong so BRAVE. I have so many feelings abt Jess I could talk about her for hourssssss

Favorite moment:

Hgggg okay so like Green Lanterns was one of the first comics I read like 3 years ago so I love it but my memory is starting to get kind of fuzzy. I'm doing a character read rn of both Simon and Jess and I'm up to Green Lanterns with Jess but need like 10 more Simon issues to get there with him (so early warning I'm about to get REALLY insufferable abt them) so of her moments before that I'd probably say her big moments resisting Volthoom as Power Ring? I'm insane for the whole Power Ring stuff in general tbh. Like OH MY GOD?!?!?!?!

This is more of a simonjess moment that a Jess character moment but the whole "Just breathe, Jess"/God thing in Green Lanterns is INSANE to me actually. Like what the hell oh my god THEY REALLY WROTE THAT????? wild.

Idea for a story:

On god I have SO many. So many. For one more specific to just Jess and her character arc I have an idea about her time as a Yellow Lantern and exploring that and working that in as a step in her arc and connecting it back to past moments as both GL and PR. (This eventually ends with her going back to GL) This idea is a biggie for me and one of my favorites but probably won't see a ton of progress for a while because I'm just starting rebirth on her character read and so won't get there for a while.

That's just one but I have lots of ideas, including those during her time as Power Ring which is a CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED era of Jess. Her mental state and struggles there are so insane to me and yet nobody takes what's written to their logical conclusion and it just !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know Justice League is a team book and they did some stuff with it but that actually drives me so nuts they didn't focus on Jess more during that era.

Also also have an idea that functions as a combo of Blackest Night (haven't read yet 💀) and the Star Wars zombie au novel Red Harvest that inserts Jess (and Simon too lol but we're not talking abt him rn) into Blackest Night (likely as an au, possibly canon compliant if it works once i read BN) and has Jess on Mogo alone protecting his ring from a group of zombies. It plays a lot on her origin and hunting abilities as she is tracked through the forest by the reanimated corpses of her murdered friends.

Unpopular opinion:

Hmm... I feel like she's a character with less popular opinions and more just opinions. Anyways here are some Jess opinions I disagree with.

"Simon and her should just be friends, men and women don't have to date etc." I mean yes i definitely agree in the importance of close platonic relationships between men and women but like... that's just not simonjess to me. They've also 100% got a hetbait thing going on so it's not like it isn't present in canon. Also like Jess does have close important relationships with men she isn't dating? Take her and Vic for instance (or in my ignoring canon lalala world her and Barry). Just very much disagree on this point.

Also ppl who think that Jess being a Yellow Lantern for a bit is like ruining her character or whatever I disagree? I think it had the potential to be done absolutely terribly (anxiety disorder = yellow ring type bs) but from what I've seen I don't think it has? I haven't gotten to this bit either yet but I think it's a concept with potential that could be beneficial to her character growth if done properly

Favorite relationship:

SIMONJESS!!!!!!!!! (To absolutely no one's surprise) they are like actually everything to me, basically the thesis of this blog at this point I just love them sooooo much. I feel like I talk about them a lot and yet still don't do it anywhere near enough. I can get hesitant to post bc I haven't read every single comic they're in yet or whatever but like I'm going through character reads right now and they're right about to meet so trust that situation WILL change and you will wish I'd shut up abt them : )

Also mentioned this earlier but Jess's friendships with Vic and Barry are very important to her character-wise in my mind.

Favorite headcanon:

Was about to say that I don't make a lot of headcanons but that is a LIE. anyways this is more of a future desired timeline thing so not canon but I think that when her and Simon get together, when one of them has to go out to space alone for a decent amount of time they swap rings and Jess talks to Simon's ring
