Just watched the fnaf movie, and maybe it was the fact that I watched it at 10pm and had been awake since 5am and was just so fucking tired, but when I saw matpat's name tag said ness my mind just went "YOU NICKNAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCH NESS MONSTER??!?!?!" Before I realized it was because of the sans is ness theory.

i think the best way i can articulate why this episode is my favorite of the whole show so far is that it was so emotionally gratifying i don't even care about the pacing issues

#like there was a scene i thought could have been cut. and i felt like it went a tiny bit too fast in some areas. #i don't actually think fizz and blitz's relationship mending was rushed or forced but ik that's an unpopular opinion. #but like..... i am a WRITER. picking apart narratives and storytelling functions is literally what i do entirely #and it is a very good skill to be able to detach yourself from the technical meta and know when to just... allow yourself to be entertained #not to say you can't ever criticize writing; or the writing of this show specifically; because it CAN struggle #(i think s2e5 had some massive tonal/pacing issues that can't really be overlooked) #but there comes a point at which you can decide to cling to nitpicks and tear the show apart #or just. accept that its a silly low stakes comedy cartoon and focus on how it makes you FEEL instead #again like s2e5 is a good example i feel bc the writing was SO underwhelming that it was actively distracting from the story #but in s2e6 i was so emotionally invested and consistently entertained that i didn't even MIND the rushed scenes or anything #like. im banging pots and pans together does this make any sense. this show is meant to be entertaining first and foremost not #subject to rutheless criticism of the writing and technical development. learn to have fun with it and if its not fun you can leave!!! #mine #helluva boss #helluva boss oops #e: oops

ok so now that it has been brought to my attention that ganon in animal crossing likes to have the max amount of sugar in his coffee im having ganonbeck thoughts about it. he and linebeck get/make coffee or whatever and linebeck takes it black and forgets to drink any of it bc hes distracted by ganondorf damn near spooning an entire container of sugar into his coffee

This part of the editorial from 2099 (pic sourced from this post) is so interesting to me because i don’t even think the idea of Miguel having these kinds of flaws is uninteresting or impossible, but I just personally would never have come to this conclusion just based on the text.

Like, when I personally look at how Miguel and Dana interact, I don’t see any indication that he emotionally condescends to having a relationship with her, when you’d think this strain of elitism should shine through in some part of their relationship at least initially in his arc.

I don’t look at Xina and Miguel’s interactions and interpret any sense him feeling threatened by her intelligence (even if we're just talking purely pre-spidermanning), when you’d think an element of that would be present, even in a flashback. He was a callous dickhead about the cheating explanation, but that alone without some corresponding behaviour to how he speaks to/treats Dana, even just as a flashback, just doesn’t offer the bridging piece to displaying what the authorial intent apparently was, at least for me.

Also, and by god we always come back to Dana’s writing being so damn lazy, but if Miguel - even if only at first - sought Dana out due to the emotional convenience she provided, what has prompted enough change that he is willing to bear and forgive actions like her seeking out the company of the man who drugged him when she wants to needle Miguel.

ALSO. PETER DAVID I AM SPEAKING DIRECTLY INTO YOUR EAR RN. ITS VERY SILLY TO ME TO POINT OUT THE MISOGYNISTIC STREAK INTENDED IN MIGUEL’S ACTIONS HERE BUT THEN LITERALLY JUST NOT BOTHER TO MAKE THE WOMAN THIS IS ABOUT MAKE LIKE. SENSE WHEN YOU WROTE HER. OFFER NO EXPLORATION INTO WHAT HER ACTIONS SPEAK TO IN HER PERSON AND DELVE INTO WHAT CONTRADICTORY ACTS MIGHT TELL US ABOUT HER.

#'a component to miguel's cheating is misogynistic thinking' AND IS THE MISOGYNISTIC THINKING IN THE ROOM WITH US NOW #idk idk...i genuinely have no issue with grappling w this as a character flaw of his i just would never have come to this conclusion on my #own PURELY from how he treated dana and xina. absolute asshole move w how he spoke of the cheating intially to xina #but that alone just makes him an asshole. not someone who felt threatened by her intelligence and THATS the piece that i dont personally se #in the text. #not to mention. the way dana and miguel's relationship is tonally depicted just. speaks of some lvl of sincerity to me. miguel isn't an #overly physically affectionate person and the times he does display that are really interesting (holding Gabriel when the abuse was going o #holding Xina when she blamed herself for Dana's death etc etc) #and then you have the way he holds Dana when he accidentally hits her while hallucinating from the rapture. he calls her lover and honey. #they cuddle in the bath that one time together. he recognises he hasnt been spending enough time w her and went to invite her out because o #it. and yeah. some of these we can absolutely chalk up to the character development hes having at the same time due to spidermanning but #even BEFORE that its like. it feels tonally dissonant to even try read Dana's actions at face value because the narrative doesnt CARE #about them making sense as part of a coherent whole person who thinks and rationalises actions to achieve a certain outcome or satisfy a #desire. it doesnt CARE enough to give her that sadly and so youre just left like. what does this relationship mean to these two characters? #for one party in particular i genuinely have no idea. and i dont know what to infer is the reason for a change from the mentality outlined #as authorial intent. because i didnt get that impression in the first place. #tunes talks 2099 #tunes talks critical #long post

i have so much fun with ffxiv bc like. me and my friends that play have a wol team and we roleplay tons when we're able to all be on at the same time

sure it takes forever to actually progress bc we're all having hours-long scenes after story events to work out the impact on everyone and, in some cases, who was impacted more than the others (like thorgeim being the one who got framed during that one incident, whereas the dragoon wol had a lot of specific stuff during heavensward, etc)

i'm told there's some shit later on that Complicates the wol-team idea but i don't want spoilers and i'm confident we can work it out when we get there so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#its actually crazy that there was even more content i missed that impacted the story this much #like this rlly illustrated how even tho my character and astari0n have both become better people astari0n is still so behind in that #(we know why ofc. hes still acting like a feral cat trying to self preservere with teeth and nail and all until the very end; the ritual) #my character had his most obvious 'shifting point' at the transition from act 2 to act 3 #like he fully realized that this is now truly bigger than himself. he has left marks on the lands and he has to go all the way #he has made true friends. one of his best friends is the kindest most compassionate person in the world #and very importantly he loves astari0n and THAT is the reason he now feels this actual compassion towards the other spawn #hes so personally invested in this issue now #and he can say that 'the world can be a wonderful place if you find your home in it astari0n' bc its something he has just recently had #a personal revelation abt #and astari0n deflects it and describes my character as someone who now 'spends their life sorting out other peoples problems' #and it rlly brings it to focus that he just cannot meet him where hes at anymore #just great conflict that feels actually meaningful and perfectly fits into the roleplay storyline ive made for my character #and omg the line 'im doing this for you too you know. to make sure were both safe. forever' from astari0n is just AAAAAAHDJJDJD. CRAZY #bc we know how toxic he becomes towards you if he completes the ritual!!!!!! #HHHHH this character!!!!! hes just MWAH. perfection #i cant wait until i get to doing the szarr palace again bc this added conflict will make the conclusion of this quest even more satisfying #anyway TOTAL tonal shift time. in start of the cutscene astari0n is standing next to the bed my character was sleeping in #so i can now have the hc that some nights they sleep in the same bed <3 #(WELL. you know. my character sleeps while he meditates)

#vi rambling #persona #ok. sorted out my thoughts somewhat i think #i think. the gameplay has been greatly improved. i think its well rounded and improves some of what was iffy originally #however. i think my main issue is the storytelling approach theyre taking in terms of tone ans visuals and priorities #because like. tartarus looks genuinely incredible #but something about the games overall muted grungy tone. that worked so well with its overall deathly feel of foreboding. is lost #and well while the effort is put in gameplay and immersion i feel like. the cutscenes are severely lacking. so much was encapsulated in the #cinematogoraphy and editing and overall minimalist aesthetic of the original that here is just. told very plainly and takes away a lot of #the impact of these moments. despite most of the voices being a MAJOR improvement. #idk if this is articulating my feelings on the matter but hopefully it does #its most prominent in their choices of what to keep as cinematics and what to replace with 3d cutscenes and even those are. very bland to me #idk. but im having a great time. especially when i can stop being insane and treat this not as the definitive version of this game. #and yeah i will be talking critically because i like critiquing things even when i like them. its not like i think the original p3 is #objectively perfect. but narratively and visually and thematically and tonally it was perfect to Me. in a way that wasnt recaptured #SORRY ANYWAYS #im after the second full moon we got fuuka her voice is wonderful . also bebes goddamn social link being voiced had me choked... i don't involve myself in the "how dare scorsese say that comic book movies aren't high cinema" because he's just unambiguously right (and i say that as someone who enjoys comics and liked watching the batman) but the funniest part of all the people trying desperately to refute him with "chris nolan directed batman movies" is that a) he was allowed to keep his own style and distinction which is a Big sticking point in the discussion of how fucking bland mcu stuff looks right now and b) nolan's batman movies are good as movies, but they absolutely fucking suck as batman movies specifically so the whole point is kinda moot anyway
