Dustin Henderson x Harrington! Reader
Summary: A simple game of truth or dare turns into something more.
A/N: Normally, I write super vague headcanons, but I saw some built like this, so I thought, “why not?”
Anyways, sorry it took so long, didn't really know how I was going to write this and I've been busy with school and work, but this brain is constantly thinking about fanfic ideas.
Tumblr media
Nancy had invited Steve and Y/N over to her house for a little get together with her other friends.
Y/N didn’t understand why Nancy had invited her, seeing as her family nor her friends liked her.
The Harrington siblings rode side by side in Steve’s car. Steve wore a blue t-shirt, a gray jacket and some blue jeans. Y/N on the other had wore a baby blue striped rugby shirt with a white pleated skirt and a white headband.
“Why are we even going to this? You and Nancy broke up, remember” Y/N said, with her arms crossed as she angrily watched the scenery pass her by, through the window.
“We’re going because even though we broke up, we’re still friends. And your here because she asked. And you have nothing better to do, so…” Steve said, watching the road.
Y/N took a quick glance at Steve before rolling her eyes. She started looking out the window, once more, and she mumbled, “we all know that’s not the reason.”
“What did you say?” Steve asked, looking between the girl and the road.
“Nothing,” she mumbled back.
Tumblr media
The Harrington’s arrived at the Wheeler’s household.
Steve lightly hit his sisters arm, with the back of his hand, and he told her to get out.
They walked up to the door, and Steve rang the doorbell. Y/N had a look of irritation whilst she held the same arms crossed position as she did in the car. Steve, on the other hand, was trying his hardest to fix his hair, with the help of his reflection from the glass window.
Nancy opened the door, and the two could instantly hear music coming from a distance.
“Hey, you two made it,” Nancy said with a smile on her face.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Steve said nervously, with a smile. He looked over at his sister, seeing the glare she was giving Nancy. He gave her arm another slap for the day, and her face shifted into a clearly fake smile.
Nancy welcomed the two in before offering Steve a beer. Steve approved (obviously) before Nancy turned to Y/N and said, “Mike and his friends are downstairs, in the basement, if you want to go say hi.”
Y/N gave Nancy an emotionless look and said in a cold tone, “If that’s what you invited me here for, it would have been best if I just stayed home.”
Nancy looked down, sad. Steve had saw the pained look on Nancy’s face and gave Y/N a glare. “Well, you’re not at home, so yes, you can go make some new friends.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. Steve and Nancy walked off, but not before Steve whispered, “Play nice.”
Y/N watched her brother leave, and hesitantly made her way to the basement. She slowly descended down the stairs, hearing the music from earlier get louder. I’m Walking on Sunshine was playing through a small boom box in the corner.
As Y/N hit the bottom of the stairs, she began to see everyone else that was down here. She knew mostly everyone. Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Will, and Erica were the only ones she really knew. But the red head and the girl with the short brown hair were unknown to her.
“Hey, what’s the Ice Princess doing here. Don’t you subjects to rule over,” Mike said with a angry look.
“Ha. Ha. Very funny, Wheeler. You’ve been using that joke since pre-school. We’re in high school now. Find some better Jokes,” Y/N said, looking the boy up and down.
“Who is this,” the red head asked.
“Y/N Harrington. Otherwise know as the more ruthless Harrington sibling. She’s also my rival since preschool. We don’t really like her, so we haven’t a single clue why she’s here now,” Dustin said in the middle of a stare down with the girl.
“Well, unlike you, nerds. I like her,” Erica said, earning a mischievous smile from the girl.
“Erica!” Lucas yelled out.
“What? Her and I share a hobby. Making fun of you nerds,” Erica told her brother.
“Whatever, let’s just have a good time before she ruins it,” Mike said.
Tumblr media
About an hour later, everyone was talking to someone else. Y/N and Erica sat on the couch, and they spent their time making fun of the boys.
Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan walk down the steps with beer in each of their hands.
“Party time, kiddos,” Nancy said with slurred words.
All the teenagers looked at each other confused.
The 3 adults began to sit on the floor. They waved for the others to join them on the floor. Hesitantly, they all began to join them.
Nancy finished the rest of her beer and laid it on the floor, on its side.
This made all the kids even more confused.
“So, we’re gonna play a game,” Nancy said, with a drunken laugh. “It’s a mix of spin the bottle and truth or dare.”
Y/N nervously gulped and looked up at the group. Her eyes landed on Dustin’s. She felt the breath leave her lungs, and she quickly looked away.
“I’ll go first…” Nancy spun the bottle.
After a couple of seconds, the bottle lands on Steve. “Steve! Truth or Dare?”
Steve had spaced out, meaning he was very drunk. Y/N slapped his arm, like he had done earlier, gaining his attention. She pointed at Nancy and his attention was turned to his ex. “Huh?”
“Truth or Dare?” She asked again. “Truth,” Steve replied. Nancy’s face scrunched up. “Oh! You’re no fun! Do you still have feelings for me?” Steve was silent, but his face wasn’t. His face shifted into a disgusted look. He quickly stood up and ran to the bathroom. “Well, there’s my answer,” Nancy said, looking to Jonathan. (Even though we all know he does.)
Tumblr media
As they got into the game, everyone had spun the bottle, but not everyone was picked.
It was Nancy’s turn once more, so she spun the bottle. The bottle landed on Dustin.
Nancy smirked and asked, “Dustin, Truth or Dare?”
Dustin looked around nervously. “Ugh… truth,” Dustin said with uncertainty.
“Is Suzie a distraction from who you really like?” Nancy said, giving a side glance towards Y/N. Everyone was looking at Dustin, so they hadn’t seen it, but Dustin did.
Nervously, Dustin yelled out, “DARE!”
“Ooos and Ahs were heard all over the room.
“Okay. Then I dare you to take Y/N into the closet over there for 7 minutes.”
“What?!” “You said this wasn’t spin the bottle!” “huh?!” Steve, Y/N, and Dustin all yelled out, at the same time.
While Steve and Nancy argued about the situation, Dustin slowly stood up. He nervously walked to Y/N and held his hand out to her.
Y/N took it and they walked to the closest. Dustin’s friends laughed and cheered for the boy.
Steve and Nancy stopped arguing when he saw the closest door beginning to close. He tried to stand, but he fell over. “Don’t do anything I would do,” Steve yells out.
Inside the closet, it was silent and dark. There was no light, so the two couldn't see anything. And all they could hear was the others breathing.
“I don't know what to do,” Y/N said, nervously.
“Yeah. Me neither,” Dustin agreed.
“So... You have a girlfriend?” Y/N asked in a shy tone. Dustin responded with a small, “yeah.”
Even though she couldn't see, Y/N looked down with a frown. If they were outside of the closet, she would've hidden her emotions with a blank stare or maybe an insult, but knowing Dustin couldn't see her, she told herself it was okay. But then something more happened.
“I'm sorry, Dustin.” Y/N could hear Dustin shifting around. “All those years of making fun of you... I didn't mean it. My mom once told me that boys are mean to girls because they like them, so I thought that maybe it goes both ways,” the young Harrington admitted.
Dustin was silent, taking everything that was just said to him in. The silence worried Y/N.
“Dustin?”
“I'm still here. Just taking everything in... So, you like me?” Dustin asked. Even in the dark, the Harrington girl could hear the smirk on the blue-eyed boy's face.
“Yeah, I do.”
The closest was quite.
“Sooooo... Are you gonna kiss me or not,” Y/N said, losing her soft voice and replacing it with her normal ‘im the boss’ tone.
“Is that all you care about?” forgetting that Dustin couldn't see her, she wore a ‘seriously?’ face. “No, but considering I just poured my heart out, and now I'm bored, I thought we could pass some time.”
“I have a girlfriend!” Dustin said, waving his arms through the air, almost hitting Y/N in the face.
“Okay,” Y/N said, emotionless. Y/N’s hands moved from the dark, in search of Dustin’s face. “I’ll do it,” Y/N said, not allowing Dustin to even react before pulling him into a rough kiss.
This was Y/N’s first kiss. She kinda felt bad that she forced it upon him, and she knew he had a girlfriend, but she just couldn’t resist.
Dustin’s cheeks were soft in her hands. Dustin began to kiss back, hesitantly, but something in him wanted to add more to the kiss. He pulled her by her waist, pulling her into him. The kiss slowed down slightly, but was deeper than before. Y/N slowly moved her hands from his cheek to the back of his neck, pulling on the small hairs under her fingers.
The closet door slammed open, revealing a shocked Steve.
Y/N was yanked from Dustin and out of the closet.
“Y/N, we’re going home?” Steve said, still a little intoxicated.
Steve turns to Dustin, “Shame on you, man. And with my sister! That’s real low, Dustin.”
Steve angrily follows his sister out of the Wheeler household.
Dustin yells out to Steve, “But she kissed me!”
But none of that stopped Y/N from leaving the Wheeler’s with her fingers lightly pressed against her lips with a loving smile.

THE LINE—

pairings: steve harrington x henderson!reader
1 — part 2 coming soon…
words: 3.6k
Summary: You realize the line between love and hate is very thin as you babysit and monster hunt alongside Steve Harrington.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leaning pathetically against your locker, you banged your head against the metal, tugging on the end of your cheerleading skirt that got caught in the door when you slammed it shut. It’s your fault really, you were so happy to get it open for once. Of course, it had to be too good to be true.
“Need some help with that?”
Your lips swerved into a smile at the familiar voice, leaning away from your locker to look at one of your favorite girls.
“Yes, Nancy. Please!” you pleaded, laughing as the girl stepped forward, easily opening your locker door, not even needing to ask the combination from the amount of times she’s had to open it.
Nancy Wheeler smiled smugly when your locker opened, releasing you and your skirt.
Nancy had been one of your best friends since you moved to Hawkins along with Chrissy Cunningham and Heather Holloway. At twelve years old, you were anxious, but to your surprise, extremely charismatic. You found friends like wildflowers, something you loved, but Nancy was one of the best. She was like a rose, beautiful and smart, something that drew you to her in the first place.
“My savior! How could I ever repay you?” you joked, mocking a princess before laughing at your own joke, tugging your books tighter to your hip.
Nancy grimaced. “Well,” she started, and your brows furrowed, making you feel uneasy, “Firstly, by not being too mad…”
Nancy shoved a note in your face. You squinted reading the words that alert you that King fucking Steve was waiting for your best friend in the bathroom, wanting to make out. Gross.
“Ew,” you stated, playful smile turning into a pout. Your shoulders slumped, concern kicking in rather than disgust. “Harrington? Really, Nance? You could do so, so much better.”
To you, Steve Harrington was the worst person at Hawkins high. A real player who had absolutely no consideration for anyone’s feeling but his own and his stupid little posse. Generally a piece of shit.
“You owe me,” she mutters, shrugging her shoulder to try to rid her mind of what you were implying, what she had already been anxious about.
“I just think it’s a bad idea,” you say softly, trying not to hurt the poor girls feelings, but really you were just trying to help.
“And why’s that?” she asks, on the defensive.
You shake your head, holding yourself back from rolling your eyes. “He’s a bad idea,” you state simply. “He treats girls like shit and you know better to accept that.”
“You don’t know him.”
“I know that he dumped Charlotte after he had sex with her,” you offered, looking at her with a raised brow. Nancy rolls her eyes.
“Well, that’s Charlotte. And I’m going to see him,” she announces, a little like she’s singing.
Sighing disappointedly, the bell rings in your ears. Great, you’re late.
You give Nancy a look already walking backwards towards your first period. “Make good decisions. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”
“You wouldn’t go out with him the first place!” she calls back, looking at you with a playful expression.
“Exactly.” You smile, finally turning around and heading to your class. When you fully turn, your smile disappears.
Something about Steve makes you anxious, fills your body with unease whenever you two make eye contact when your both at your lockers. You hate the way he smiles smugly at you. And you hate that he’s going after another one of your friends, the fear of her getting hurt makes your stomach ache.
This time, if he hurts her, you hurt him.
And that’s exactly what happened.
You were on your evening walk, frowning at the missing poster you see of Will Byers, your little brother’s best friend and Johnathan Byers, one of your best friends, brother. It’s a saddening sight, especially since the young boy’s funeral. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Frustration is throbbing through your body. You feel helpless, unable to find the boy despite having helped put up posters and searched through the woods countlessly.
You were also angry with yourself for allowing your brother out of the house when you heard the news, letting him and his friends set out in search for him themselves because your heart ached looking into your brother’s teary eyes as he begged you not to tell mom that you caught him sneaking out.
It was stupid, that you told him to keep his walking on him, stay with his friends, and to stay safe or you’d fucking kill him. You’re a shitty sister.
You were an idiot. An idiot people pleaser who never knew when to say no to her friends and family. It was stupid that when your empathetic heart feels their pain you resort to the worse stress reliever, and contradictory to your guilty conscience, violence.
“Harrington, you better get your ass down from that ladder right now!”
You saw him from a mile away, the words spray painted on the movie theatre that you would always take your brother and his friends. The only thing you could make out of it was that Steve fucking Harrington was caught defaminating one of your best friend’s names while vandalizing the cinema.
Steve’s eyes went wide at the sight of you, the beautiful girl who ignored and criticized his every move. His ex-girlfriends best friend. His heart raced at your angry expression. His cheeks probably got a little red too.
“Henderson, what the hell are you doing here?” he asked, sponge pausing its movement to look down at you. Steve had completely forgotten what it looked like had happened, oblivious to everything else around him, his entire focus on you. His fake innocence only made you angrier.
Ignoring his question, you fumed, “Get your ass down or I’m pushing you off this damn ladder!”
Steve’s eyes widened as he muttered curses under his breath, quickly climbing down from the ladder. You pretended that seeing his face bloody and bruised didn’t make your stomach ache.
“Jesus, what your pro—,” You shoved him, and he stumbled back, arms stretched out as his back hits the ladder, “blem!”
“You wrote this? You called Nancy a slut?!”
You pushed him again, and he stumbled again, still looking at you like you’re crazy. He caught your wrists when you went to push him again.
Your hands were held at his chest, pulling you into his chest despite how you try to plant your feet, to stay away from him. Steve still has an bizzare look on his face as he looks down at you, cheeks pink and he’s slightly out of breathe from how he scrambled to grab your wrists.  Steve rapidly shakes his head, blurting, “What? No! No, I didn’t!”
You let out a scoff, nodding sarcastically as if you believed him. “So… you just cleaning it up? Bullshit,” you spit, and Steve looks almost hurt by your insinuation.
“Yes! “ He announced, running a hand through his hair when you tugged your wrists free. “I didn’t write this!”
Crossing your arms over your chest, you looked at him accusingly, like he was stupid. “Then who did, Harrington?”
“Tommy.”
“Oh, you’re best friend!” you exclaimed, “That totally makes so much of a difference.”
“No, Henderson, — I.” He groaned. He glanced around, breathing out of his mouth before he pinched his nose. “I should’ve stopped him, I know, but I’m cleaning this up now. I’m trying to fix it.”
“Because you got caught?”
“No! I just—,” he shook his head. “I’m not… friends with those assholes anymore. I just wanna help.”
Really? you thought to yourself. Your nose scrunched as you scanned him up and down for a second with repulsion. He’s not friends with Tommy and Carol anymore? That’s hard to believe.
Your interrogation seemed never ended, and you still had the urge to punch him in the face despite the cuts and bruises that stand prominent on his handsome face. You wet your lips, ignoring your natural concern and continuing. “Help? Help what?”
“I wanna apologize,” he said. “To Nance.”
“Really?” you deadpanned.  Steve arms waved wildly before he poked to fingers into his forehead, closing his eyes.
“Yes, I’m sorry. Is it that hard to believe?”
“Yeah, it is, King Steve,” you scoffed, before you let your thoughts slip into your words. You switch your footing, voice quieting ever so slightly when you ask, “What happened to your face?”
He paused.
“Byers,” Steve replied embarrassed, not even looking at you as your eyes widen.
“Really?” You sound surprised, and you are. The boy who’s been the nicest to you, one of your best friends ever since you’d gotten to town. Your babysitting buddy. The boy who’s brother was missing.
“Johnathan did that?” You ask. When he nods, you hum. “You deserved it.”
“I know.”
Humming, you look at Steve for a second, checking out his bloodied face and red knuckles. Next to his foot is the sponge he was using, it’s turning red and it looks like it’s decomposing from overuse. It makes you clear your throat when you catch his eyes again.
Quietly, almost whispering, you ask, “Do you love her?” You gulp, specifying, “Nancy?”
He sighed, and he looked at you for a good minute, clearly contemplating. Truth be told, he didn’t know. She was… different from his other girlfriend.
Steve would be lying to himself if he said that he didn’t like you. He knew he did, since last year and you walked in wearing a pretty little sundress and gave him attitude when he offered to be your prince charming and open your locker. Maybe he liked Nancy a lot, but he didn’t know if you could love someone and stare at their best friend when their back was turned.
He swallowed, shrugging. “I don’t know.”
You don’t like him. You don’t like him. You don’t like him.
Steve’s word make you nod to yourself, ignoring the relief you feel that he’s not in love with her for Nancy’s sake. Clearly, Steve was a shitty teenage boy, and even worse boyfriend, but you believed in change.
“You really want to make things right?” you question, still trying to keep your guard up despite how you feel them crashing down around you. Goddammit, you hate Steve Harrington.
“Yes,” he groaned, meaningfully.
In your head, you were screaming. Blood curdling, a homicide victim type of screaming, and it’s so loud, so so freaking loud that you couldn’t hear your own thoughts. Maybe, that’s why you make a dumb decision.
You shrug, already turning around to start walking. “Okay, then. Let’s go.”
“Wait, what? Where?”
“To go see Nancy,” you scoffed, as if it was common knowledge. Impatiently, you said, “Come on, I don’t want to be seen with you.”
You trudged forward, once white sneakers thumping against the sidewalk. Behind you, you can hear Steve jog forward, eager to catch up with you.
It doesn’t take long, but the moment he’s beside you, words spill from his lips, quickly. “I— I have my car.”
Pausing in your step, you begrudgingly looked at Steve, quite relieved that you don’t have to walk all the way to Jonathan’s house. “Okay. Where?”
“Over here,” Steve says, almost out of breath as he points to his car. You head towards it without a second thought, harshly pulling on his passenger car door and glaring at him when it doesn’t open.
Steve looks at you strangely, kinda of afraid of you, and he puts his key in before opening the door for you. You don’t look at him, not even when he gets inside the driver seat and starts the car, too busy staring out the window.
“Do you, um, want any music?” Steve stutters, looking at you hesitantly. You roll your eyes.
“You not talking is enough for me,” you smile, sarcastically.
“Oh,” Steve deadpans, biting his lips at he turns away from you, ready to drive.
Great, now you feel bad. You offer, “What do you have?”
“Yeah— yeah, I have Beat It, some AC/DC, Uptown Girl—
“Uptown Girl, please,” you cut him off.  Your casual manners make Steve blush. You don’t even notice that you said it, and it reminds Steve how good you are. You were solid good.
A good girl.
A nice girl.
And one who wants nothing to do with him.
Go figure.
Steve realizes how fucked up his mind is as his knuckles turn white on the stirring wheel. He starts to drive, listening to you hum while starring out the window, sometimes cutting yourself off to tell him directions to Jonathan’s house.
When he asked why there, you said that he had to apologize to Jonathan first. He listens to you for reasons he could not comprehend, because he found himself trusting you despite how much you must hate because he knows you.
In the hallways, he’d watched you tell freshmen directions, laugh on your way to class, help kids who would drop things. You’d barely notice the boys that trailed after you that you thought were only friends, and he’d watch you scold them whenever they were mean to some freak, or nerd, or geek, in the halls.
You were nice. The nicest girl at that damn school, and unbeknownst to you, The Queen Of Hawkins High.
He can’t keep his eyes off you, and he’s never felt guiltier. He let his friend call his girlfriend a slut while he was yearning to kiss her best friend on the way to apologize to her. There was something wrong with him. Steve shook his head, letting his eyes part from you and focus on the road.
The drive was slow, but the moment the car parked in the Byers’ driveway, you were quick to usher Steve out.
“Go,” you wave.
“What?” Steve’s heart races. “Right— right now?”
“When else?” you blink.
“Shouldn’t we rehearse something?”
You sigh, holding back a much needed eye roll. A fake smile props on your lips. “‘Jonathan, I’m sorry for fighting you in the middle of the street. That one’s on me,’” you say. “‘Oh, and I feel bad for smashing your camera to little bits. How about I buy you a new one with my daddy’s money?’” You drop your smile. “That good?”
“The camera wasn’t my fault,” he justified.
“I know, I was there. Still, that doesn’t make what you did right, so get out of the car and apologize,” you punctuated.
Steve mouth gaped. Then, he begrudgingly unbuckles his seat belt and grumbles under his breath, stepping out the vehicle. He slams the car door shut.
You snorted a laugh, sinking into Steve’s comfy car seats.
From where your sat, you have a clear viewing of the show. You’re not sure whether or not Jonathan will forgive him. Apart of you hopes he doesn’t. You wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
What did surprise you was watching Steve, under the warm yellow glow from the Byers house lights, pound on the door and then eventually force his way in.
Hastily, you trailed after him, leaves crunching under your quick feet.
“Steve!” you called once in the door way. “This wasn’t what we talked about…”
The words died in your throat as your eyes scattered across the room, the sight of Jonathan, a shit ton of weapons his living room table and Nancy with a gun pointed at Steve’s face had you had you bewildered.
“You two need to leave now!” Jonathan said, but you were more focused on Nancy’s count down, gun still pointed at Steve.
Before you could think, you were shoving yourself in between Steve, Jonathan, and the gun, hand raised in defense. The mass of Christmas lights around you flickered briskly with your final shout, “What is going on?”
Few words between Nancy and Jonathan end with Steve Harrington, grabbing your wrist and dragging you down the hall into a bedroom as a venus-flytrap looking bear rips apart the ceiling.
“What the hell was that,” Steve yelled along with a variety of curses.
“Shut up!” Nancy and Jonathan shouted, synchronized.
You and Steve shared a feared look.
Pounds and gurgles erupt from the other side of the door until they suddenly stopped. In the silence, Nancy and Jonathan exit the room, Steve and you right behind them.
“Are you going to tell us what that was?” you rasped desperately.
Nancy’s reply was short. “A demogorgon.”
You recognized that name. “Like—,” you brows pinched together. “From DnD?”
“That’s what the boys said.”
“The boys,” you repeated. “Like Dustin, Lucas, and Mike? They know about this?”
“Look, Y/N, I’m sorry but we don’t have time for the questions. It’s going to come back, and you two,” she gestures to you and Steve, “need to leave. Right now.”
Breathing heavy, and with the shake of your head, you said, “No.”
“Yes, go,” Nancy said, stepping closer. You were the same height, she couldn’t intimidate you, not even with a gun in her hand. You weren’t going to leave, especially because of the newfound fear of that thing going after your brother.
“Y/N,” Steve tried, eager for the door.
“No, you go,” you said to Steve then turned to Nancy, “I’m staying so either let me help kill it or I’ll stand here and be bait.”
“Fine,” Nancy said.
Jonathan threw you a lighter. “Throw this into the carpet when it’s here.”
Steve felt pathetic watching the three of you. He didn’t want to leave and be a coward, but he didn’t want to die either. One thought over powered the other and he sprinted to his car, but seeing rapid flickering lights, he forced himself back inside.
After swinging a crowbar at the demogorgon and watching it swallow it whole, you were sure you were going to die. You fell back, squeaking in despair as you did so. The demogorgon’s mouth widen, and you may have gotten a little teary eyed at the sight of Jonathan and Nancy on the floor, looking helpless as well.
But to your shock, Steve Harrington jumped in front of you, swinging a bat like he hadn’t quit baseball in seventh grade.
What happened next was blur, but you remember Steve Harrington forcing you to your feet and the sight of a demogorgon enveloped in flames.
With shallow breaths, you sat on the wooden porch in front of the Byers’ house, illuminated by a singular warm lantern, recollecting the previous events. Mind racing, you hardly notice the body next to yours.
Well, until, and hand landed on your shoulder. It’s large, much bigger than your own. Your eyes traced the arm up to its owner, seeing a bloody, concerned face staring back at you.
“You okay?” Steve asked, and your heart swelled the slightest bit at his worry. He had just almost killed himself and he was worried about you.
Your eyebrows twitched, the undying desire to hate him still present. “Yeah,” you choked, “I’m fine.”
Steve nodded. He retracted the hand off your shoulder slowly, which you were grateful for. Nancy and Johnathan’s dull chatter filled the void, the four of you too nerved to fully close the front door.
Clearing your throat, you said, not looking at him. “Thank you for — um — saving my life.”
When Steve spoke, you turned to him. “Anybody would’ve done the same.”
“No they wouldn’t have,” you said, entire body angling towards him. You kept your hands in your lap, tediously explaining, “They would’ve ran for the hills, like you should’ve, but you didn’t. So thanks. I owe you one.”
“Don’t mention it,” he griped, but you shook your head with a scoff, readjusting yourself to look straight forward. You went silent again. Not far from you, you can hear the engine of a car, smell the toxic carbon monoxide polluting the air.
Steve Harrington saved your life. King Steve Harrington saved your life.
Laughing to yourself, you eyed Steve carefully. “I never would’ve taken you for a hero, Harrington.”
“Guess you were wrong,” Steve chuckled. His eyes shone particularly bright in the moonlight.
“Mhm,” you hummed, looking to your lap, “maybe about a lot of things too.”
You hadn’t known why you said that. Steve’s lips parted at your words, a dumbfounded look forming on his face.
“Y/N!”
Immediately, your head whipped to the noise. Your eyes widened with recognition to the voice. “Dustin!” you shouted, voice echoing off the trees in question.
A car pulled up, and in the back windows you could see three smiling faces in the window.
Smiling. They’re okay, you told yourself. And free to yell.
“You boys are so lucky.” The words came out forced, a quiver in your voice at the pure relief you feel, rushing to the boys off the porch and watching the three of them exit the car safely. “You could’ve gotten yourselves killed,” you snapped. “Why didn’t you told me?”
Only after you spoke did you notice their red rimmed eyes.
Your lips twitched into a frown. Swallowing back your own tears, you pulled Dustin, Lucas, and Mike into a hug. “I’m so glad you all are okay.”
Vaguely, blue and red flashing lights pull up onto the driveway of the Byers’ house. Police step out their car with questioning looks. It’s not long before one offers to take you and your brother home.
Glancing behind you, Steve Harrington’s eyes found yours swiftly, as if they had been trained to you this entire time. Hesitantly, you raised your hand, not very high, but just visibly for him to see. You gave Steve a small wave.
He smiled at you, and you were sure that it hurt.

Summary: Y/N is Eddie Munson's twin sister, no one from the gang has met her since she's been in college. One day Robin meets her only to find out so has Steve...and both of them fell in love....fuck.
Robin came into work with a skip in her step. She just met the most beautiful woman she ever met...well she just saw the most beautiful woman she's ever saw, before she could work up the courage to talk to her she was already gone. Clocking in she sighs dreamingly thinking of those brown eyes and curls. She needs to find out your name.
Steve watched his friend walk into work like she was walking on a cloud, "What got you all smiling and giddy?" he asks with a smirk, complete prepared to tease her on her newest crush. Steve has seen this look before, he has had this look before. Hell the day before he came into work with that look! He knew it had to be a girl.
Robin blushed and decided that there was no point in trying to hide this from Steve. "There's a girl...but god Steve! She was beautiful, a fucking goddess I'm telling you! You should've seen her, the curls, the eyes...Oh my god those eyes! They were a beautiful deep brown" Robin continued to ramble, making Steve's smirk drop. "Wait wait wait was she wearing like a leather jacket? A-A pair of like really beat up red converse?" Steve asked timidly, scared to finding the answers out. Robin shakes her head "I think she was, I mean I wasn't exactly looking at her feet Steve" she says rolling her eyes. "She was far too beautiful to look anywhere else" She shrugs before focusing her attention more on Steve's features before her own smile drop.
"No....no you're not telling me that was Y/N..." Steve nods pitifully.
"Fuck." They both mumble after a few minutes of silently staring at one another. Before either could say anything else the bell chimes signalling a customer. They both turn to greet whoever just walked in and as they do they freeze again seeing Y/N and Eddie Munson walking in and going to the horror section.
"Fuck!" They both say once again.

need you tonight
summary: steve sneaks over late at night to see you.
pairing: steve harrington x henderson!sister reader
title 🎵: need you tonight by inxs
a/n: this is super short & sweet ❤️
Tumblr media
It’s late at night. You’re home in your room, getting ready for bed, when-
TAP, TAP, TAP
You turn and see your boyfriend Steve standing right outside your window. Your eyes widen in excitement. Steve smiles when you notice him.
You go over to the window and open it. Steve climbs inside and looks around.
“So this is your bedroom, huh?”
This is the first time a boy other than your little brother has been in your room.
“Steve! What are you doing here?!” you ask.
“I needed to see you. I missed you,” Steve says softly as he wraps his arms around you.
Your heart melts. You pull him closer to you and give him a kiss.
“I missed you too.”
After a little moment, you and Steve pull away from each other. He sits down on your bed.
“So, uh, I didn’t see your mom’s car in the driveway…” your boyfriend comments.
“Yeah. She’s working the overnight shift,” you tell him.
Steve nods.
“And what about Dustin? Is he here?” Steve asks.
You shake your head.
“He’s sleeping over Mike’s tonight.”
Steve’s face perks up.
“Oh yeah?” he smirks, looking you up and down.
You inhale deeply, checking out your boyfriend. Damn, he’s so hot! You bite the bottom of your lip and slowly nod.
“Yeah. I have the place all to myself tonight,” you coyly reply.
Steve stands to his feet. He sighs, shaking his head while he approaches you.
“I don’t know, Y/N. I can’t have you spending the night here all alone…”
Steve wraps his arms around your waist. He pulls you closer to him. You raise your eyebrow.
“Hmm really? Then what are you gonna do about it?” you ask suggestively.
“I think I need to spend the night here and make sure you don’t get lonely,” your boyfriend tells you.
You nod and wrap your arms around Steve’s shoulders.
“I like that plan,” you smile.

anything on being nancy wheeler's sister and dating either steve or billy ?
Being a Wheeler and Dating Billy Hargrove
headcanons
Tumblr media
summary: dating billy while being a wheeler kid
pairing: billy hargrove x fem!reader (wheeler!reader)
WARNINGS: swearing, very brief mentions of sex, mentions of abuse
note: i wanted to do one of these for billy because i haven’t written anything for him yet so :)
You met Billy right after he moved to Hawkins. Obviously, he radiated bad vibes at first. He was rude, arrogant, and not someone you had any desire to spend any amount of time with.
Then, the two of you were partnered up for an English project, which meant spending a lot of time with Billy Hargrove.
Initially, you thought it would be up to you to do the entire project. Billy didn’t exactly seem like the kind of person who would contribute to partner work at all.
However, Billy was totally infatuated with you. He thought you were the prettiest girl in Hawkins, so he did what he does best. He tried to flirt with you. Obviously, his reputation preceded him, causing you to vehemently turn him down every time.
The last thing you were gonna do was become one of Billy Hargrove’s groupies. You were not the kind of girl who was just going to fall to his feet and beg him to take you in the backseat of his camaro. This only egged him on.
He loved the fact that you weren’t gonna give into him so easily. If he really wanted you, he had to work for it. You fully expected him to get bored and move onto another girl in a weeks time.
But he didn’t. Instead, he spent most of his free time at your house, working on a stupid poster board over the symbols in Romeo and Juliet, instead of partying or hooking up with other girls.
His behavior seemed to do a complete 180. He was no longer out drinking every night, instead he was doing homework and going to bed at a reasonable hour??
Your parents loved him, especially your mother. She would often come up to your room while the two of you were working, bringing snacks or art supplies for your poster board. Billy would occasionally shoot her a flirty smile or make some kind of weird comment, which earned him a glare and a “Don’t flirt with my mom!”
Over time, you grew pretty fond of Billy. You were even sad that the deadline for your project was coming up so soon. The two of you had finished it a week before, but Billy kept coming over with the excuse of “What if we need to fix something?”
He was weirdly sweet and polite. He made you laugh and teased you over your taste in music.
Billy likes to look through your things. Not in a weird or creepy kind of way, but more in a getting-to-know-you kind of way. He tries to be respectful, avoiding your underwear drawer and anything that could be deemed too personal for his eyes, no matter how badly he wants to take a peek.
Your sister, Nancy, didn’t trust him at all. She knew his typical behavior and immediately decided that his fake niceties were just a sick ploy to get into your pants.
Nancy’s words made you question your semi-friendship with Billy. You couldn’t help but wonder how much of it was true.
Your little brother, Mike, couldn’t stand the thought of you being around Billy. Mike had firsthand accounts of how vile he was, being friends with Billy’s stepsister, Max.
Mike often tried to talk you out of seeing Billy, but to no avail.
When the two of you presented your project, you made an A, which is the best grade Billy had received in a long time. He’s actually genuinely proud and grateful.
You continue inviting him around. He comes to plenty of family dinners, which can sometimes make for an awkward experience given the fact that both your siblings detest him.
He asks you out soon after and you accept, letting Nancy and Mike’s concerns fall to the back of your mind. You had no reason not to trust Billy’s intentions.
He remained super respectful on your first date, taking you to a small diner in town. He has you home by curfew, much to your parents appreciation.
While he still manages to uphold his reputation at school, he doesn’t focus on any other girls. He remains loyal to you, showing you off in the halls as often as he can.
He walks you to and from class, holding your hand and carrying your books for you if you need.
He recognizes that he has a good thing going for him and he refuses to let his assholery ruin it for him.
Your relationship is definitely the talk of the school. Billy Hargrove and Y/N Wheeler? There’s more gossip going around than there was when Steve and Nancy first got together.
He picks you up every morning and takes you home every afternoon. You form a pretty good relationship with Max because of this.
Billy would protect you with his life. If anybody said anything bad about you, they would have to face his wrath. He gets in multiple fights for you.
After a couple months, Billy is forced to come to you after a bad fight with his dad. He pecks on your window, effectively scaring the shit out of you. You gasp when you see the state he’s in, thinking he got into another fight with a boy at school. However, your confusion grows as you notice the tears pooling in his eyes as he climbs through the window and immediately pulls you into him.
He breaks down, telling you everything he’d been holding back for so long. He tells you about his mother, about his dad’s abuse, and everything else. You clean his wounds and hold him in your bed until the sun rises and he’s forced to head back home.
Cleaning his cuts and holding him until sunrise becomes a regular occurrence after this.
After a while, Nancy comes around to the idea of your relationship. She sees how different Billy is around you and she can see how happy you are. All she wants is for you to be happy, so she eventually gives you her approval.
Mike, however, never comes around. He hates Billy and nothing can change that. It doesn’t really bother you, though.
Billy loves seeing you in his clothes, especially his jacket. Sometimes he “accidentally” leaves it in your room just so you’ll wear it the next day.
He likes sitting with you while you read or do homework. He appreciates the fact that the two of you don’t even have to talk to have a good time. He likes just being near you.
He just loves seeing you and spending time with you.

Steve doesn’t usually make the effort to get out of his car to collect Dustin. But he had honked his damn horn five times now and was getting frankly sick of waiting for the petulant boy.
He races up the gravel path, cursing under his breath about not being a fucking taxi and how he shouldn’t take him for granted. Steve’s sure there’s smoke coming out of his ears as he pounds on the door, prepared to give the boy an earful.
His mouth is open when the door creaks open, “Dustin I have told you-,” it’s only then that he realises that Dustin isn’t the one behind the door. It’s you.
“Excuse me?” you start, frowning at this apparent grown man who seemed to have a problem with your younger brother. As much as he got on your last nerve, you’d defend him to the moon and back.
“You’re not- um, is Dustin home?” he asks sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck in utter shame. Dustin had mentioned you a few times and he was sure he remembered you from school but never really took much notice.
“Why?” you ask pointedly, scowling at the man. He was from school, you knew that much. One of the basketball players that absolutely would have sniggered about you in the halls.
“I’m giving him a ride to uh- to the movies,” he nods, realising that he sounded like an utter weirdo.
“Aren’t you a little old to be hanging out with my brother?”
Steve hesitates because yes, he probably was too old to admit that your little brother was his friend. Let alone the fact he considered him a best friend.
“Uh.. I could see why you think that but mentally I’m probably more his age than mine,” smiling at you, genuinely not seeing an issue with his statement.
Your eyes narrow, brows knitted together. You knew he wasn’t some dodgy old pervert but he had absolutely not helped his case there. “Right.. well, no. He’s not back yet so…”
“Oh, well I’ll just.. wait in my car,” he nods, slowly turning to jump back into his car. Eager to not make himself look any stupider in front of you.
You sigh, “you can wait inside,” opening the door wider for him, you wouldn’t hear the end of it from Dustin if you made his dear friend wait outside.
He tiptoes into the house, eyeing the quirky decorations your mom had covered the house in. It was clear now why Dustin was so.. eccentric. He’s like a stray dog, hovering around the couch, too scared to sit down.
You resume your spot, attempting to pay attention to whatever movie is on the TV but struggling knowing he’s still just standing awkwardly above you.
“You can sit down, you know?” you bark, not bothering to look at him.
He does almost immediately, running his sweaty palms along his knees. God, why was this making him so flustered?
“You’re Dustin’s sister then?” the words falling out of his mouth without much thought. He wants to fall into the floor. Obviously you were his sister. Fuck.
“Yup.”
“Cool.. I haven’t really seen you before.. I’m uh-,” sticking his hand out for you to shake, “Steve.. Steve Harrington,” smiling as you glance at his outstretched hand, hesitantly shaking it.
The mention of his name makes everything click into place. This is the infamous Steve that Dustin didn’t shut up about. You were in the same grade at school and had shared a few classes but had never really spoken. That might’ve been something to do with him being a gigantic prick the entire five years you were in school.
“Oh,” you nod, trying to mask your apprehensions, “I remember you,” hoping that didn’t give too much of your distaste away.
“Yeah.. I’m not like.. that anymore,” picking up on your obvious distrust. It’s not surprising that so many people still hold reservations about him, even he could admit that he wasn’t exactly a saint.
You hum in response. You can mostly believe him because there was no way in hell Dustin would’ve ever become friends with someone like King Steve. In fact, knowing your little brother, he probably would’ve detested the kind of boy he was in school.
“So.. you go to college?” he asks, trying desperately to change the subject.
“Yeah.. uh, Chicago, I didn’t wanna go too far yanno?” not that you really could’ve. College was a last minute, fuck it kind of decision and you hadn’t really even planned on staying past the first week. But you had, and had even found yourself liking it.
“That’s cool.. what do ya’ do? If you don’t mind me asking,” shifting in his seat, eyes dead set on you.
“Language studies, it’s not cool or exciting at all but I enjoy it,” shrugging as you pick at the loose thread on your shorts, avoiding any direct eye contact.
Despite Steve Harrington being a changed man, he still made you incredibly nervous and you felt like suddenly you were back in high school. He just had this aura to him and the way he carries himself, even now, was just intimidating.
“No, that is cool? I wish I was smart enough for college,” chuckling nervously, “I bet it’s crazy out there.”
Your definition of a crazy night meant smoking with Julia, your roommate, and eating a stupid amount of shit food. His definition of crazy definitely included some frat party and hooking up with some stranger in a crowded house.
“Hah.. not really, I think maybe we have different definitions of crazy.”
“Well, what’s your idea of crazy then?”
You look around on the off chance Dustin and your mom had somehow snuck into the house completely silently, “getting high and eating a bunch of junk food.. not exactly the kinda shit you imagined.”
“How d’you know what I imagined? Maybe I think that’s a crazy night too,” laughing at your assumptions, evidently he was still hanging onto that King Steve persona.
“Nah.. you’re thinking of getting black out drunk at some party and then having sex with some girl you’ll never speak to again,” raising your brows, smug that you’d sussed him out completely.
“Is that what you think of me?” jokingly placing his hand over his heart, shaking his head, “I don’t even like parties that much anymore and actually I think you’re right, that would be a crazy night,” smiling to himself.
Because to him that did sound like a great night, and he’d kill to be able to do that with Robin and if it wasn’t for the fact that she got so intensely paranoid that one time they’d smoked together, they’d probably do it more often.
“Oh, well.. you’ve surprised me,” giving him a small smile. You still had your reservations about him, but if he was good enough for Dustin, you were sure you could come to perhaps tolerate him.
“Yeah, I do a lotta that nowadays.”
“Well are you surp-,” you’re cut off by Dustin barging through the front door, nearly taking the damn thing off its hinges.
“Steve? We’re gonna be late! C’mon!” he yells into the living room as if he wasn’t the one who had shown up fifteen minutes late. He’s huffing and puffing with his hands on his hips, clearly something inherited from your mother.
“Woah dude, chill out,” he looks at his watch and jumps up out of his seat, “okay shit- sorry uh, oops let’s go,” rushing over to Dustin. He turns at the last second, waving at you over his shoulder, “it was nice to meet you,” a genuine grin on his face.
“You too,” you call back, watching as your brother drags him out of the house. Muffled voices arguing over what time the movie started and how dare Steve enter his house without him present.
Dustin’s still going on in the car after much push back from Steve that actually he was early and Dustin was the one who was late.
“Your sister’s pretty cool,” Steve blurts out, driving along the bumpy road. He wants to rescind his sentence almost immediately after Dustin glares at him from the passenger’s seat.
“Absolutely not. No, Steve. No.”
“What?” flabbergasted that Dustin had so brazenly assumed he had some ulterior motive. He hadn’t even said anything. Not yet anyway.
“Just no. I know you and I know what you’re thinking and I’m putting a stop to it now,” Dustin cringes, mentally perturbed by the thought of you and Steve even speaking.
“Wha- dude, I was just saying.. you barely speak about her.. that’s all,” tapping on the leather steering wheel, playing it off rather smoothly, he thinks.
“I know my sister’s cool.. way too cool for you, okay? So you should forget about it because it will never ever happen.”
“I wasn’t even gonna.. you’re a real pain in the ass, you know that?”
-
Steve’s sat in the booth, opposite what must be the worst date of his life. Dear God, Tammy Thompson was hot but holy shit was she annoying. Her voice agitating his ear drums with every word, irritating and nasally as she rambled on about her singing ‘career’. It wasn’t much of a career, Steve thought. Singing the national anthem in your high school gym was hardly a career. He thought it was quite sad actually.
He nods along to her bullshit, maybe she would sound better when he got her into the back of his beemer. Well, he was hoping anyway.
“You guys finished?” the familiar voice rings out across the table, his eyes darting from Tammy to find you standing at the end of the table with a fake grin plastered on your face.
“I didn’t know you worked here,” he sounds confused, attention fully shifted from the blonde in front of him to you. Surely Dustin could’ve had the courtesy to let him know that you worked at his favourite date spot.
“Uh.. yup, so you’re done?” still in customer service mode, trying desperately to ignore the awkwardness.
“Oh, yeah.. thank you,” he smiles, pushing the empty plates toward you “how long have you worked here.. I’ve never seen you,” positively baffled but happy nonetheless.
You shrug, “like sophomore year,” confused why he seemed to care so much, “I’m just doing part time over the summer..” stacking the plates as quickly as possible, wanting nothing more than to get far away from the awkward date you had stumbled upon.
“That’s cool, I mean, I’m here a lot so..”
Both you and Tammy flash him a look, granted hers was far more annoyed than yours. You mutter a small nice before scurrying off to the kitchen, relieved to be far from the impending disaster that was waiting to implode.
-
Something’s not right.
Even with Tammy practically climbing over the centre console to get to him, fully willing and eager.. he’s just not feeling it. Something or someone rather stuck in his head. They had been since last week and no matter how much he’d tried to shake it.. nadda.
He pulls away from Tammy, sighing pathetically, “I’m sorry.. d’you mind if I just take you home? I don’t feel great..” he hopes it’s at least half-convincing.
“Are you fucking serious Steve?” Tammy whines, staring across the car in utter disbelief.
He offers an apologetic smile, shuffling in his seat to get away from her, “yeah.. must be something I ate.. sorry,” grimacing at this incredibly awkward moment. He couldn’t exactly tell her the truth, could he?
“Whatever,” crossing her arms over her chest, frowning as she re-buckles her seatbelt, starting straight ahead.
He starts the car with a sigh. She was a nice enough girl, but she just wasn’t.. well, she just wasn’t Dustin Henderson’s mysterious older sister who just hadn’t let this mind since you’d met last week. That was the problem.
She doesn’t say a word as she gets out of the car, making sure to slam the door in his face when he leans over to say goodnight. He’s sure she’ll tell all her bitchpack friends who’ll vow to ignore him until he smiles at them over the Family Video counter and they’ll forget all about it.
Why couldn’t that just work on you?
-
You don’t see Steve for another week. Dustin normally runs out of the house the second he hears Steve’s car in the driveway meaning you don’t cross paths.
But now he’s sat in the exact same booth as last week, this time alone with a half empty cup of coffee in front of him.
Your legs sort of work on their own, carrying your body over to the booth. It’s only when you’re stood at the end of the table do you realise you have no idea what you should even say to him.
“Who’s the unlucky lady this week?” your mouth blurts out without second thought, startling him from staring out the window. His lips curling into a smile the second he realises it’s you.
“No lady this week, flying solo,” internally dying from his choice of words. Yeah, that totally made him look cool.
“Oh,” pulling the dirtied plate across the table, “Tammy Thompson didn’t work out then?” Why are you even asking? You shouldn’t care about who he dates.
“Nah.. we didn’t really..” he mashes his hands together, “vibe,” smiling up at you from the seat. He obviously wasn’t heartbroken over it.
“Well if it’s any consolation, I always thought she was a massive bitch,” and she was. One of those girls that prowled the halls waiting for somebody to humiliate. Bare in mind, Steve was too, he just picked on the weird boys rather than the girls.
Steve chuckles, “yeah, she was.. or is.. I don’t know,” he’s sure that in her opinion, he was the bitch that didn’t want to hook up with her because his ‘stomach hurt’, and really that was a fair enough assertion.
You give him a quick smile before picking up the plate, beginning to walk away when his voice calls out from behind, “what time do you get off?”
“Nine.. why?” apprehensive as you answer. Spinning on your heel to face him.
“I can give you a ride home? I mean, if you want?”
You pause just before you reach the counter. It seriously would beat walking home in the summer heat. Dustin would certainly have a few choice words when you showed up at home in Steve’s BMW, but who cares?
“Okay, yeah that’d be great.. thanks,” giving him a tight lipped smile, “you gonna sit there for the whole four hours?”
“I- wh.. no,” laughing awkwardly because he hadn’t exactly planned what he was going to do until nine but he had assumed it’d be fine if just hung out here. “I’ve gotta go uh.. pick Robin up from work,” lie. He and Robin had worked the morning shift and she was off at some family dinner she had complained about all week.
“Robin Buckley?” you ask, slightly confused as to how the two of them even knew each other.
“You know her?” he perks up.
“Eh.. kinda, we were in band together.. how do you know her?”
He’d love to tell you that they had become inseparable after nearly dying in a Russian basement with your little brother last summer. But he doesn’t. Because you, like the majority of Hawkin’s residents, were still blissfully unaware of the weird underworld that lived beneath your town.
“We worked together last summer and now we’re best friends I guess,” it sounded far too simple as he said it out loud.
He was an asshole in school and was well aware of that fact, someone like him would never have become friends with someone like Robin if it weren’t for the Upside Down. But he was grateful nonetheless, and telling you the shortened story was much easier than opening the can of worms that was the Upside Down.
“Oh..” you nod slowly, “you really have changed, huh?” thinking back to Dustin’s constant appraisal of the new Steve and how you didn’t really believe any of it.
“Yeah.. I don’t..” he clears his throat, “I don’t know if I was an asshole to you in school but if I was then.. I’m sorry,” looking sheepish as his head hangs low. In all honesty, he couldn’t really remember you ever being at Hawkins High but felt an apology was due either way.
You nod, accepting the apology though the worst he’d ever done to you was the time he sat there and cackled as Carol Perkins knocked the pile of books out of your arm.
“You want another cup of coffee or d’you have to go?” still clutching onto his dirty plate.
He checks his watch, not that the time actually mattered as he’d leave here and probably end up driving around until it was socially acceptable to come back in. “I could do one more.. thank you,” grinning softly.
You slip into the kitchen, questioning the warm, fuzzy feeling that had settled in your chest. Convincing yourself that it was only because he was being nice to you. Nothing more.
-
Steve strolls in again at 8:40 after driving around the entire town, ending up parking in town and just watching the tiny clock in his dash until it turned 8:30 and he could slowly make his way back to the diner.
It’s empty, has been pretty much all night bar the few regulars that seemed to spend their lives here. You’re sat behind the counter flicking through the Hawkins Post someone had left behind, reading about the upcoming bake sale. Riveting stuff, really.
“You’re early,” you point out, looking at the clock that had moved incredibly slow all day.
“I had nothing else to do so thought I’d try and squeeze one more cup of coffee from you,” he grins cheekily, testing the boundaries of this incredibly new.. friendship?
You roll your eyes, motioning over to the pot, “help yourself,” sending one of the clean coffee mugs over the counter so he could do your job for you.
The clock slowly ticks over to nine and you do one last check around the place to make sure you’d done everything needed. Javie, the cook, had gone home already, thankfully cleaning the kitchen before disappearing. Begging you not to tell Kevin he’d slipped off early with a promise of whatever you wanted to eat on your next shift.
You turn the key in the door as Steve stands behind with his hands shoved in his pockets, “are you normally the only one in there at this time?” walking beside you to his car.
“No, Javie normally finishes when I do but he had a date or some shit so he left early,” shaking your head. It would’ve been useless to make him stay anyway.
Steve jumps in front of you, grabbing the handle before you got the chance, pulling the door open, “Oh.. good, yeah that’s good,” closing the door and clambering into his own side. He wants to believe that he’s not sure why the mention of Javie’s name made him feel so funny.
“You sound disappointed.. were you planning on robbing me?” chuckling to yourself.
“No! No.. what? It just seems unsafe for you to be there on your own so late..”
“It’s nine pm Steve.”
“Yeah I know but.. there are a lotta weirdos in Hawkins yanno?” starting the car as quick as possible, not wanting to stick his foot in his mouth any further.
You smile, it was very kind of him to look out for you after all. “Yeah.. I’m in the car with one right now,” glancing at him with a shit eating grin.
“Oh ha ha.. you’re so funny,” rolling his eyes in jest though his lips twitch into a small smile.
“I know that actually,” turning to watch the trees as they disappear behind you. The air is perfect, reminiscent of the summers you had here as a child.
Steve takes the opportunity to look over at you admiring the night sky. Sinking his teeth into his bottom lip, this was going to be the death of him.
Well, you were.
-
Steve’s itching to just ask him, get it out while he’s driving so Dustin can’t run away.
“So.. I have a question for you,” testing the waters before fully committing.
“Uhh.. what could you possibly have to ask me?” Dustin asks, curious.
“Well.. I need you to ask your sister if she’d maybe wanna come to the movies with me,” he holds up his hand to preemptively stop Dustin’s inevitable reaction, “I accidentally bought two tickets and I don’t wanna let it go to waste, so don’t start.”
“Steve, I already told you that that is not happening.”
“It’s not a date Dustin,” Steve hisses, “you said she liked horror movies so.. I thought she might wanna come.. that’s all.”
Dustin looks incredulous, “since when do you like horror movies?”
“Uh.. since forever?” lying through his teeth. Steve hated horror. Would point blank refuse to watch anything even remotely scary when Robin suggested it.
“You’re a bad liar,” Dustin frowns, he’d had many of his own movie suggestions shot down by Steve for being inappropriate and too scary.
He rounds the corner, pulling up onto your drive. He was running out of time to convince Dustin to do this for him. And see, he’d do it himself but that would mean he’d undoubtedly end up a bumbling idiot in front of you and that was not what he was aiming for.
“Can you- will you please just ask her?” he begs, pleads even.
“Fine,” Dustin rolls his eyes, sliding out of the car. His feet dragging along the pavement as he walks into your house, not bothering to give his usual wave to an idling Steve.
He slinks up the stairs, banging on your bedroom door. Get it out of the way and then he could mourn the loss of both his sister and his best friend as quickly as possible.
“Yeah come in,” you call from the other side, closing the notebook.
“Steve asked me to ask you if you wanted to go and see some movie with him, he also wants me to tell you that he accidentally bought two tickets instead of one but I think you and I are both smart enough to know that isn’t true,” your brother rolls his eyes, perched in your doorway.
You smile to yourself, rolling your eyes. It was childish but admittedly endearing, “tell him to ask me himself and I’ll think about it.”
Dustin nods, frowning as he walks over to your bedroom window, leaning out of it to holler at Steve who was still sat in his car awaiting your answer, “she told me to tell you to ask her yourself,” sticking his middle finger up at him before storming off into his own room.
You watch him leave, open mouthed before going to the window to find Steve looking up to your window. He points towards the door, shrugging. This really wasn’t how he’d have liked this to go.
The door swings open and you blink at him, allowing him the opportunity to go first. This was his question after all.
“D’you wanna come to the movies with me? I- Dustin mentioned that you like horror movies and I don’t wanna waste this ticket.. it’s cool if not,” Christ, he really needed to stop hanging around Robin so much. She had a knack for being completely defeatist before even receiving her answer and it was clearly starting to rub off on him.
“Yes, I’ll go to the movies with you,” smiling softly at him. He really was light years away from the dickhead you once despised, now just some shy guy trying to ask someone out on not-date-date.
“Okay,” he responds with far too much enthusiasm, “great.. Friday! I mean- I’ll pick you up on Friday.. eight o’clock,” cheesing as he walks back to his car. Throwing up a thumbs up before realising how stupid he looked and rushing to get into his car. Heart fluttering out of his chest.
-
You’re shitting it.
It wasn’t a date. No really, it wasn’t.
But you couldn’t help the nerves bubbling up in your stomach as you wait for him to pick you up.
“I think this is disgusting by the way,” Dustin pipes up, scowling as he paces the hallway. Desperately trying to conjure up a plan to stop you from going. He couldn’t think of anything worse than his sister and his best friend dating. He shudders at the mere thought of it.
“Well it’s a good thing I didn’t ask for your opinion,” rolling your eyes, peering out of the window to see if his car had pulled up yet.
“Why can’t you date any of the other losers in this town? Or someone at college? Why does it have to be Steve?” his shoulders slump, frown evident as he skulks into the living room.
“Oh my God Dustin, stop it. Yanno, the more you complain about it, the more I’m going to make sure it happens,” letting go of the blind and giving him a smug smirk. For his sake, it probably would just be a movie.
You weren’t exactly Steve’s usual type so you were certain that the second someone from school spotted you together he’d probably get embarrassed and drop this little crush. But hey, you could entertain the idea for the summer and perhaps you also had a tiny, smidgen of a crush on him too.
The doorbell rings out and Dustin lets out a ghastly wail, rushing to answer the door before you could. “You never come to the door for me!” he pouts, glaring at Steve who stood nervously on the front porch.
“Because I don’t like you,” Steve jokes, attention quickly pulled from your younger brother as you appear behind him. “You look.. nice,” smiling as Dustin’s eyes ping pong between the two of you.
“Thank you.. so do you,” barging past Dustin who looks positively distraught, “don’t cry too hard,” you call out, walking down the path beside Steve. The door slams when you reach his car and you share a look with Steve, giggling as he opens the door for you.
The second you sit, the nerves come spilling over. This was no longer just a silly thing you could tease Dustin about anymore, it was actually happening and you were here and he was here and you were about to go on a not-date-kinda-date.
You’re both fairly quiet on the ride to the cinema, exchanging small talk about your days and the movie you were about to watch. It was fairly obvious that he’d bought these tickets specifically with you in mind, because Steve Harrington would not willingly watch Friday the 13th, especially not on his own.
“So you accidentally got two tickets, huh?” eyeing him from across the car.
His cheeks flush, bottom lip trembling as he attempts to come up with something to explain his bullshit story, “I- fuck, no.. I didn’t,” looking bashful as he pulls into the parking lot, “I didn’t actually think you’d say yes.”
“Why?”
Steve sighs as he turns off the ignition, “I don’t know.. you’re like cool and in college and I’m just some loser from high school,” shrugging half-heartedly, finally meeting your eyes.
“You’re not a loser.. you were a loser but, I think you’re pretty cool now.”
His eyes widen, his smile fighting to come out, “I think most people would say the opposite,” he certainly didn’t hold the same level of prestige he had in school anymore. In fact, he’d sorta lost it in senior year when he’d decided that people like Tommy H and Carol were not the type he wanted to associate with.
And it wasn’t like he’d lost it all, girls still fawned over him and the basketball team would still get excited to see him but he had kinda just slipped into the background. Another guy who had peaked in high school that was destined to stay in this dead end town with a dead end job and a wife he’d grow to loathe. At least, that’s what he had always pictured.
“Yeah well, I’m not most people,” climbing out of the car. Not once in your life had you ever thought you would be telling Steve Harrington that you thought he was cool. Much less getting out of his car to go see a movie together.
You’re met with a genuine smile from over the roof of the car, he doesn’t need to speak for you to know that he appreciates your words.
For a moment you forget where you are until his eyes linger a little too long and your heart begins to pound again. Pulling your own gaze away and mumbling something about missing the trailers.
-
It’s unfortunate and a little sickening but you can hardly focus on the film and even though it’s dark, you can feel his eyes shift to your face every few minutes, distracting you from the movie. You don’t look back of course, keeping your eyes firmly glued to the screen.
His hand shifts suspiciously close to your knee, stopping just before he makes contact. You’re trying your hardest not to overthink it.  He’s just.. moving his hand. That’s all.
Fuck.
You were fucked.
Your hands are practically trembling as you sit there. Finally gaining enough courage to look back at him the next time his eyes wander.
Steve’s not like you, see. He’s a little nervous of course but he’s had years of experience with girls, knows all the tricks in the book to get them falling for him. And when it really came down to it, he could unleash his moves to have you right where he wanted. His eyes don’t flicker back to the screen, they lower, gazing at your lips instead. He wants to do it. He does. Urging himself to just lunge forward and close the distance between you.
But you’re not like that. You wouldn’t have even looked at him twice in high school, immediately and rightfully passing him off as the dickhead that he was. These tricks were futile on you.
“Watch the movie,” you whisper despite not watching it yourself, blinking rapidly as you feel your cheeks heat up. Praying that the dark of the cinema would shroud your flushed face.
His lips twitch before slowly pulling his eyes away, nodding to himself as an acknowledgement to be on his best behaviour.
It takes every single fibre of your very being to get through the rest of the movie without looking at him again.
“Well I actually enjoyed that,” he professes loudly, walking out of the theatre a few paces behind you.
“Oh? I’m surprised you actually saw any of it,” walking to his car in the pitch black parking lot.
“I wasn’t talking about the movie,” grinning as he lays on that signature charm. It’s shameless and you feel like a fool for even falling for it.
“Shut up,” you mutter, pulling on the door handle as his car remains locked. He sidles up to the passenger side, one side of his mouth curled into a small smile.
“How tired are you on a scale of one to ten?” mere inches from your face.
“Hmm.. a five.”
“Great, get in,” leaning closer to open the door for you, outstretched arm keeping you between his body and the car. You swallow harshly, slipping past him and into the car.
You’re not sure if you like this version of Steve, the one that had the confidence to make you a bumbling fool for him.
“Where are we going?” you eventually pipe up, bewildered that you had just let this boy drive you to this mysterious location without any contest.
“You’ll see.”
The very second he turns onto the darkened road you groan, knowing exactly where he had taken you, his motivations becoming increasingly clear.
“Fucking skull rock?” you exclaim. Everyone had heard the rumours in school, this was his spot and girls were to be extremely appreciative if he brought them here. You should’ve known really, he hadn’t changed a bit.
“Well yes, but that’s not why we’re here.. I swear,” only now realising how scummy this looked but the thought hadn’t even crossed his mind until it had yours.
Your arms wrap over your chest, jutting your bottom lip out, “then why are we here?” you sounded disgusted with him. How could you have been so stupid?
“Because I-,” the car stops in the tiny lookout spot, “wait, get out of the car,” he instructs, hopping out of his side.
You don’t move a muscle, refusing to fall for his tricks once again. So he walks around the car, opening up your door, “look, I wanna show you something,” his tone is desperate and it makes you ever so slightly believe him.
There was no chance he was that eager to make out with you surely.
Your nostrils flare as you get out of the car, immediately wrapping your arms back around yourself. “What? What could you possibly have to show me out here?”
“Just look,” pointing towards the sky. It was littered with stars, bright and twinkling with the view of Hawkins in the distance. It was breathtakingly beautiful, a sight you couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
He chuckles, “I come here sometimes.. just to think and stuff,” scuffing his shoes on the loose stones, “I thought you’d appreciate something like this,” hands shoved into his pockets, gazing at you as you gaze at the sky.
“Wow.. you can see everything from here,” still marvelling in the absolute beauty, blissfully unaware that he was doing the same, just not at the same beauty you were seeing.
“I thought you’d like it,” dragging his feet along to the bonnet of his car, leaning back against the maroon metal. “I’m a little offended that you just assumed that I was tryna get you here for any other reason though,” laughing softly, what more could he do to prove that he was no longer that meathead jock from school?
You finally break your gaze, looking at him as you join him on the bonnet. Heart pounding as your elbow brushes against his as you shuffle further up the car. It’s so silly, you feel like a fool, trying your hardest to contain your flushing cheeks.
“I’m sorry..” admitting that perhaps you were a little harsh, “but can you blame me? We’ve all heard the stories,” purposely knocking your elbow into his arm, wiggling your brows. Turning your attention back to the picturesque view in front of you.
“Yeah yeah.. that was a long time ago, I told you, I’m not like that anymore..” it’s only a tiny lie. He still made out with girls in his car and took them to darkened corners of your tiny town. But see, the difference was that he was actually trying to date these girls, mindless sex was no longer his goal.
“Yeah I can see that now..” your shoulders slump, relaxing as your guard comes down, “thank you, this is a really cool spot and I’m grateful you chose to share that with.. me,” smiling softly.
“You’re like the second girl I’ve ever shown this to.. by the way.”
“Second?” poking fun at him.
“Robin came first, obviously,” choosing to ignore your little dig.
You had wondered why he wasn’t just dating Robin, he was a changed man now and obviously the pair got on like a house on fire so why wouldn’t he have tried it with her? Maybe he had and she’d shut him down. She seemed cool enough in band, definitely not someone that would ever be interested in Steve, no matter how much he had changed.
“Ahh.. obviously,” trying desperately not to sound jealous.
“So you like it?” watching your face instead of the sky once again.
When you pull your eyes away from the sky to look at him, you’re taken aback to find him already staring back. “I love it,” the way the moon illuminated his face left you breathless, struggling to contain your heart in your chest.
“Good..” he smiles before descending into some ramble about the stars and how he had discovered it.
You weren’t interested. Focused on one thing and one thing only. Deciding against your better judgement to just do it. It was utterly reckless and someday you might live to regret it but you’d regret it tomorrow if you didn’t.
Pressing your lips to his, quietening his little tangent. It takes him a moment to register what was happening and you doubt yourself, wanting to pull away and run through the woods hoping to never see him again. But it finally clicks and he springs into action, masterful hand snaking its way through your hair, resting on the back of your head. Keeping you right there, pressed to him just like this forever.
Your hand nervously finds his cheek, brushing over the slight stubble that adorned his jaw. There’s no urgency, no ulterior motives. Pure and simple, only a desperate need to stay like this forever.
You pull away, lips still lingering over his. A small giggle erupts from your throat, crumbling under his stare. “Sorry..” you mutter, still trying to catch your breath, “you were saying something..”
“Sorry?” he exclaims, keeping his hand intertwined in your hair, “don’t ever be sorry for doing that.. like ever,” the stars reflecting off of his chestnut eyes back into yours, his features intricately lit up by the sky.
“Okay..” laughing slightly, “okay.. I’ll keep that in mind,” shying away from his eyes, dipping your head.
There was not one part of you that would have ever guessed that you would be the one to make a move on him first. Or that he could ever be so sweet, so kind and thoughtful and you feel awful for ever just assuming the worst of him without even giving him a chance.
You’re pulled out of your head when his head dips down to match yours, “can we do that again?” thumb tracing back and forth along your neck. You nod quickly, chest bubbling with excitement as his lips connect with yours once more.
It must’ve been gone three by the time you sneak back into your house. Praying that Dustin is already asleep as you sneak back up the creaking stairs.
It’s too late. You’ve been caught.
“Come here,” he whispers harshly, peeking out of his bedroom door, his brows furrowed.
You oblige, slipping into his room and shutting the door quietly, “you gonna give me a lecture?”
“No,” he sits cross-legged on his bed, “I was going to ask if you had a good time,” willing to put his pride behind him for the sake of his dear sister's happiness.
Your frown turns into a grin, joining him on his bed, “I did.. he’s really nice, Dusty,” moving the deconstructed lego set from his duvet so you could scoot closer. “If you really don’t like it.. I can tell him that we can just be friends,” smiling earnestly at your little brother, it would suck but after all, he was Steve’s friend first.
He sighs, swallowing his disgust, “you don’t have to do that..” this is hard for him to even get out, “if you’re happy then.. I’m happy,” giving you his brotherly blessing.
You beam at him, “but, I have some rules that you’re both gonna have to agree to,” setting his boundaries for your budding relationship.
“Shut up,” you giggle, ruffling his mop of curls before collapsing back onto his bed.
You’re happy. Genuinely happy and you’re not sure anything could happen to change that.

If I Only Could (Reader dies)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?
-
After finding out how to save his friend, the short teen with a techy hacker girlfriend sets the walkie talkie down somewhere (he’ll worry about it later) and rushes towards Max’s backpack, pulling out her cassette tapes, headphones, and walkman.
He turns back towards the others. “Music. Music. We need music,” Dustin runs back to the others. “What’s her favorite?” “I don’t know,” Lucas answers to his friend with a panicked tone.
-
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.
-
You reach for a cassette and place it the walkman before handing it to Dustin, “put this on her.”
Nothing happens, you start to panic more.
Your heart races, you move closer to your sister. “Max! Max! C’mon,” you shake her shoulders. ‘I can’t lose you too.’
 -
If I only could,
 -
Tik. Tik. Tik.
You turn to find that damned grandfather clock staring back at you.
The world around you changes into something much dark than before… you know this place, it’s the one that’s been haunting you for the past few days… and that means everything you’ve just done for the past few minutes wasn’t real.
You turn to look around at any and every noise that comes your way.
You feel like you’re on the verge of having an anxiety attack, your chest ever so slightly tightens, you take deeper breaths to calm yourself.
You run around, searching for a way out.
 -
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
 -
Vecna or whatever the kids told you, calls out for you but, in the form of your big brother…
“Billy,” you whimper.
Your heart races at the sight of him. It hurts to see him now; he still looks to the same as he did the night he died in the “Mall Fire”.
Even though it’s not him, maybe you can finally get this off your chest.
“I’m sorry.”
“Are you?” He steps towards you.
“What?”
 -
Be running up that road,
 -
“Admit it. Some part of you always wanted me gone. You were tired of me. If I was gone, you wouldn’t have to worry about me messing everything up.”
You shake your head, tears fall down your cheeks as you take steps back, aiming to distance yourself from the evil bastard. “N- no. You know that’s- Billy knows that’s not true. I was tired of the fighting with our dad, each other, Max, everyone. And I know he was too. All I wanted- all I’ve ever wanted was for us to be happy and for my brother and sister to get along, love each other the way we did.”
You sniff, wiping your cheek, “I wanted Billy to be happy the same way he was when he rode that seven-foot wave when we were kids.”
“You’re guilty because you wanted me gone,” Vecna Billy drones on.
 -
Be running up that hill,
 -
“No! That’s not true! Billy knows that!”
Vecna Billy shakes his head, “you feel guilty because I’m out of the picture and dad ran away so your perfect family picture is ruined, right?”
“No! NO! The real Billy knows exactly what I wanted! He’d never ever admit it but, he wanted the same thing. I know he deserved to be happy, and he deserved to be free of the shit he got from dad, but Hawkins took it from him. You don’t know Billy like I do, and you never will!”
 -
Be running up that building.
 -
You trip over a hard object, you’re not too keen on focusing on that as you see Vecna Billy’s true hand aiming for you.
If Vecna gets close to you, you’re a goner just like your brother.
This fuels you to keep going.
You can’t stop, you can’t leave Max alone to suffer with her mother.
Your sister needs you and you need her, and you’ll be damned if you go down without a fight.
 -
If I only could, oh
 -
You stop focusing on the “if you die’s” and work on getting the hell out of there.
You push yourself off the ground and start running, anywhere you can, if it puts distance between you and Vecna.
The evil creature takes another step towards you but you’re a few feet away to notice.
 -
You don't want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
 -
You dive to hide behind one of the large statue headstones (right now, you don’t care to analyze if you’re right or not). “You can’t hide from me.” It continues to taunt you; as if you care, you’re praying you can find a way out of this hell.
 -
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder.
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts.
 -
You run away from the area, glancing at the red fog concealing the evil that hides behind it.
You’re not too focused on yourself or who’s in front of you, suddenly you bump into someone, you look down and find your little sister. “What the hell are you doing here?”
You hold her by her shoulders, standing tall to hide her.
“I’m- I-”
“There’s no time,” you glance around, searching for the creature or any new threats coming your way.
You look back on the fog to your right before glancing around to see if the coast is clear. “Run towards the red fog.”
“What?”
“Run through the fog,” you enunciate for her to understand. “It has to be his area- where he keeps his victims, so you can probably find a way out, right?”
 -
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
 -
Max shakes her head, tears pool in her eyes, “No, I can’t- I can’t leave you. I can’t lose you too.”
You cup her cheeks, forcing her to pay attention to you, “you have a better chance at making it out of here than I do. Vecna is focusing more on me than he is you and you deserve to live long enough to find what makes you happy.”
“Please don’t do this.”
“Maxine,” you shove her in the direction of the red fog. “I need you to run and run fast.” You exhale when you see her figure disappear.
 -
You, you and me.
It's you and me won't be unhappy.
 -
You sniff before you feel yourself freeze.
The footsteps are getting closer.
You take off again, praying that she made it out and she’s with the others.
 -
If I only could,
 -
“Put her headphones on!” Lucas shouts.
“I’m trying,” Dustin shouts back.
“Max. Max. Hey- hey. You’re okay,” Steve and Lucas try to reassure her.
“No,” she shakes her head. “Where is she?”
“Who?” Steve asks.
“My sister. She’s- she’s in there. We need to help her.”
“She’s fine. She’s still near the,” he turns to see that you haven’t changed your position this whole time. “Car. Henderson, give me the headphones.” He holds his out, “Now!”
Dustin hurries to place the items in his hand.
 -
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
 -
Steve runs to you, using his athletic skills that have been put on the back burner for some time now but, he still has it in him to haul ass to get from point A to point B.
He stops himself before he can run into you.
He fumbles with the headphones and almost drops them but is able to catch them and put them on you before your time is up.
 -
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
 -
The sight of Max falling down a few feet ahead of you fills you with relief.
‘She made it.’ A smile stretches across your face. ‘She made it.’
“You can’t run,” Vecna says in its true form.
You gasp, looking over your shoulder to see him getting closer and closer.
You try to run towards the others, watching as they try to bring you out of the stupid trance, something wraps around your ankle and pulls you back.
 -
If I only could, oh
 -
The music is faint, but you can hear it as you scramble to grab anything to stop you from getting closer to your impending doom.
You cry out as you see yourself standing there, Steve in front of you, shaking your shoulders.
-
C'mon, baby, c'mon darling,
-
Max pushes herself out of Lucas’s arms and runs to you. She can’t let you go; she can’t let you die protecting her like Billy did for the two of you.
If your gone… it’s going to- She calls out for you, taking a deep breath as she gets closer so she can continue to cry out your name.
Max shakes your shoulders as she stands before you. “Wake up. Wake up! Fight it. I need you to fight it!”
The others stand behind her, watching helplessly, not knowing if this will work or not.
 -
Let me steal this moment from you now.
 -
‘Focus on the music.’
The thing tugging you back, pulls you up.
Your back slams against the tree like thing you saw his past victims tangled in.
Your ankles and wrists are the next thing to be tied. You think back to your past experiences and the little knowledge you have, if you can talk to this thing maybe distract it, you can make it out.
“You only go for one person at a time. Why now? Why try and speed up the process?”
“You will join me,” he lifts his hand in the air, lingering above your face.
Your time is running out.
Your heart rate speeds, you know what’s going to happen.
-
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
-
“She will join me.”
“No. I won’t let that happen.”
 -
Let's exchange the experience, oh
 -
Your body floats up into the air, out of reach for anyone to try and help you- save you.
The others call out for you, you can almost hear them.
Your heart breaks more and more as you continue to lose your breath.
‘I can’t die. I can’t die. Not now. Think. THINK.’
 -
And if I only could,
 -
The hand slowly inches closer to you. “It’s time for you… to join me.”
You shake your head, moving it around so it can’t get a hold of you.
Something- or what you can assume is a piece of the tree wraps around your throat, forcing you to stay still.
You struggle to breath, the tentacle like thing continues to wrap around your throat, constricting your airway in a similar manner as a boa constrictor would.
You think back to the night before.
 -
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
 -
You glance away from the sleepy boys on the couch. “You wrote letters for everyone?” You ask your sister, unable to sleep.
You’ve been watching her scribble down whatever she needed to since the first letter, but you didn’t want to say anything, knowing she had some things she had to get off her chest.
“Are you gonna judge me, if I say yes?”
“Of course, not… I just- I hope you didn’t write me a letter.”
She doesn’t say anything as she puts the letters into envelopes.
“You didn’t need to do that. There’s nothing you could have said to change the way I feel care about you. I understand the letter to Billy, God knows how many times I wrote something in a journal I found lying around. It did help me, but it only did so much,” you shake your head, wiping your cheeks. “If there’s something you want to tell me. I want you to say it to my face, Maxine.”
She remains quiet as she sets another letter off to the side.
You wrap an arm around her shoulder and lean your head on hers. “I’ve been seeing the clock too.”
She turns to look at you, “what?”
“I know you heard me.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“It’s Hawkins,” you offer as a weak excuse.
You shrug your shoulders, “I don’t know. I didn’t think anything of it. I was too busy on saving up so you could spend the last few years of your teen years living in a nice house. I want you to be happy and I know that everything with Billy has screwed you up for life but, you deserve happiness.”
You tear up as you reach for her hand, “that’s all I ever wanted for the two of you. Billy,” you take a deep breath, so you don’t start crying.
Tears trickle down your cheeks at a faster pace. “Billy’s gone and- and I like to think that he’s- that he finally found it. I hope, so much that he’s found his happiness and that he’s not suffering anymore. It was all I ever wanted for him and I’m holding onto that hope for you.”
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
“What about your happiness? What makes you happy?”
 -
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.
 -
“What makes you happy?”
 -
Seeing my sister act like a kid…
“Please don’t tell me you’re going to scare your friends with that costume,” you lean in the doorway of yours and Max’s shared room.
“It’s not Halloween if you aren’t scared at least once.”
You nod with pursed lips, “if that’s what you say.”
“Oh, like you’re not gonna go and find Steve.”
You rush into the room, closing the door behind you. “Shh, don’t say his name.”
“Why? You afraid you say it and he’ll magically appear.”
“I’m gonna get you.”
“Afraid I can’t stay any longer. There are candy bars with my name on them.” Max runs by you and opens the door to find Billy standing there.
“At least let me walk you to the front door, Max,” you say, stopping the staring contest between you and Billy and Max and Billy.
She shakes her head, “it’s fine.”
“Max,” you sigh. You smack his shoulder, “why do you have to be such a jerk?”
“She’s old enough to walk herself to the door.”
“She is still a child.”
“She’s old enough to know better.”
“Would it kill you to be nice to her?”
He says nothing as he walks to his room, shutting the door.
You knew he was acting out because of your father again.
 -
My brother having a heart of gold…
“If he-”
You shush him. “Nothing is going to happen, alright? He doesn’t hit on me, if anything Steve hits on almost anything with two legs…almost like you.”
He takes the cigarette out of his mouth, blowing the smoke out the window. “I don’t do that.”
“The looks you get from the moms and girls our age would say otherwise but sure,” you pat his shoulder. “You keep thinking that.”
He tosses the cigarette somewhere before turning to you, giving you his full attention. “If the king of partying-”
“I’m pretty sure you have that title now.”
“Don’t interrupt me.”
“Okay.”
“If that dude- I said don’t interrupt me. If he acts like a jerk or makes you upset or cry, I’m gonna hunt him down and kick his ass.”
The corners of your lips tug upwards, “I don’t think that’s going to happen but, I’m glad to know I have you in my corner.” You slide closer to your brother so you can hug him, “William.” You scramble to get out of the car.
He leans down to look through the window so he can see where you are as he shouts to you, “I told you not to call me that!”
“It’s your name.” You chuckle and watch as your “big, bad” brother drives away.
 -
Your sister having friends she knows she can count on…
Max plops onto her bed with her friend El.
“Looks like you two had fun,” you comment, flipping your record to the B side.
“Don’t make this a big deal.”
“I’m not. I’m happy to see you two had fun, that’s all.”
 -
“Lucas tried to give me a ticket for the basketball game.” Max kicks her foot off the ground, slowly riding her skateboard.
You nod, “you gave it back?”
“I’m not in the mood to see a stupid basketball game.”
You sigh, “maybe next time you can get two tickets.”
“Why?”
“So, I can go with you and then we can both cheer for your boyfriend.”
“He’s not boyfriend.”
“Okay… but that doesn’t mean he’ll stop caring about you.”
“What about you and Steve?”
“Stop bringing him up. You always do this to me. It’s mean.”
“I asked a question.”
“And I’m not answering it.”
 -
The boys asleep on the couch “watching” over her.
 -
Seeing that stupid smile on his face your friends face…
Steve walks around the register to lean against the counter, “what did I do to see you today?” He smiles, tilting his head to the side.
“I think she’s here to talk to someone who has decent taste in movies, dingus,” Robin adds, ruining his whole “flirty” vibe.
He grumbles before moving to restock one of the shelves near the front of the store.
“He’s been waiting to do that ever since we started,” Robin whispers to you.
You shake your head and smile, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
“You see it every time you walk by him. He gets all smiley and,” she fake gags. “Charming, or at least that’s what he calls it. Personally, I don’t see it.”
“I think he’s just a smiley person.”
Steve leans against the counter again, “who’s a smiley person?”
“Robin.”
He and you furrow your brows.
“Really?” he asks.
“You’ve never seen her in her element?”
“Oh yeah? And when’s that?”
You turn to look at her with wide eyes. “When she’s… being herself. Yep.”
“Really?” The two ask.
“Yeah,” you become more confident with your answer. “If you can be yourself no matter who you’re with, that’s awesome.”
“I don’t know if I should be flattered or frightened,” says Robin.
“Don’t be scared.”
“I didn’t say scared.”
“Same thing,” Steve and you say at the same time.
She chuckles and turns to help a customer.
“So,” he says, extending the O.
You turn to face him, “yes, Steven.”
“How many times do I have to tell you, it’s Steve.”
He sees the expression on your face. “You’re messing with, right. Anyway, you have plans tonight?”
“You know I do.”
“Max is a strong, independent kid-”
“If you finish that sentence with “who can take care of herself” your old nickname that involves one of your best features “hair” will no longer be one of your best features.”
A smile tugs at the corners of his lips, he leans in closer to you, “you think one of my best features is my hair?”
“You tell us-”
“Her more than me,” Robin interrupts.
“You tell me that all the time. Of course, I’m not gonna forget that.”
“What are my other features you find amazing?”
“Whoa, down boy. I never said that,” you say with a chuckle. “I think it was implied.”
“Oh, really?” You lean in closer to him. Steve pauses, gulping, “yeah.” He clears his throat to get rid of his voice crack, “yeah.” You pull away, “your voice crack says otherwise, Stevie.” His cheeks flush into a light pink. “Stevie?” You shrug, “I don’t know. It sounds good.” “It does,” he replies with a grin on his lips.
 -
If I only could,
 -
“Fight it!” Max continues to shout.
“Listen to the music!” Dustin and Lucas shout.
“Come on. Come on. Come back to us,” Steve mumbles. ‘Come back to me.’
 -
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
 -
You can still faintly hear the song, “Running Up That Hill” echoing all around you as it mixes with Max’s screams, begging you to fight Vecna.
You can’t die.
It’s not your time.
You have to go back.
“No!” You turn your head and tug your wrists out of the binds. You drop from the tree, almost tripping over your feet. You push yourself up and run, run past the creature, past the other victims. You charge for the opening.
Vecna continues to use its magic to try and keep you there.
The ground turns into a red liquid and you know what it is.
You struggle to run through the liquid the blood splashes around you as rocks, other large pieces of terrain, and sticks fall around you and your path.
Your lungs burn, cheeks puffing with every breath you take as fear and adrenaline course through your veins, pushing you onward.
You take large steps, moving your legs as fast as you can, the ache and piercing pain in your side isn’t enough to stop you.
So, you keep running, for your sister, for your friends (young and old), your survival, and for Billy.
 -
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.
 -
You feel arms wrap around you, holding you close.
It feels like there’s something hard under your legs but there’s something warm and soft behind you.
You open your eyes and see Max kneeling in front of you. You know you’re sitting on the ground.
Max can’t wait anymore and dives for you, wrapping her arms around your waist.
You wrap one arm around her shoulders and your free hand settles at the top of her neck, near the base of her skull.
The both of you hold each other tightly, both still scared out of your minds.
You can feel your shoulder get wetter the longer you hug her.
You sniff, taking in a deep breath as Dustin and Lucas wrap their arms around you, more than relieved to see you here in the land of the living.
 -
If I only could,
Be running up that hill
 -
“Okay, I need to get up before my ass goes numb,” you say.
The two young boys push themselves away, brushing the dirt off them as they pretend you all didn’t have an emotional hug.
Max reluctantly pushes herself off you.
The warmth you felt behind you disappears, Steve bends down with one arm around your waist, the other holding your hand. “Come on, up you go.”
Your throbs for a second, you know you stood up too fast. Steve keeps a hold of you, making sure you don’t fall.
He guides you towards the backseat as the others settle in, Dustin in the front, Lucas and Max in the back.
“Thanks,” you whisper to him, out of breath suddenly as you glance over at him.
“What this? Yeah, no problem. I’ll always help you.” He still manages to flash you one of those stupid charming smiles.
Your lips part ever so slightly, your chest rises with every deep breath you take.
The driver side door opens and you two hear Dustin. “Hurry up, we need to go find Nancy and Robin. Not watch you two almost make out. Chop chop.”
“Right,” Steve mutters.
You sit down beside Max, who immediately scooches closer to you.
You wrap your arm around her shoulder, resting your head on hers.
You catch Steve’s eyes in the rear-view mirror before he looks away to start the car and drive to your guy’s next location.
 -
If I only could,
Be running up that hill

(slight) steve harrington x henderson! reader
warnings: s4 spoilers! violence, the upside down (usual stranger things shit), angst, mentions of billy :"(((
summary: six months after the events of starcourt mall, you can't help but feel more distant from your friends than ever causing your brother to take some much need action.
a/n: this may be shitty since its my first stranger things drabble in literal YEARS (i fact checked that, i haven't written properly since 2019). but anywhore i hope this is at least decent, its short and sweet but it’ll do the job.
Guilt was a funny emotion.
In all honesty, you had nothing to feel guilty about. You were safe, your brother and his friends were safe and you all had saved the people of your town from horrors that would terrify them beyond belief.
But you had also lost a lot in the process.
Chief Hopper was presumed dead, Eleven had lost her powers which you relied on to keep you safe, and on top of everything Billy Hargrove had also lost his life to save El from the Mind Flayer.
You weren’t quite sure why Billy’s death had affected you so much. In fact, you were certain that you should be crying over Hopper more than Hargrove since you never quite got along with the teenage heartthrob - which is why you ruled the feeling down to guilt.
Guilty that he sacrificed himself while you just watched. Guilty that you never took the time to get to know him under all his anger - to show him that he could have real friends. Guilty that the Mind Flayer got to him before he could even begin to fit into the world of Hawkins.
You hadn’t noticed the toll feeling that way had on you, not like your brother and your friends could see. Which is why you were currently trying to ignore them standing in the hallway to your bedroom, whispering about you to each other while you were curled up in your bed under a mountain of blankets.
“How long has she been like this?”
“In her bed or in a zombie-like-state? Because she hasn’t left her bed in a week and she’s actually starting to smell like a zombie.” Dustin’s familiar voice filled your room.
A familiar voice spoke up next, it was warm and full of concern. “Should we try to talk to her?” Steve Harrington.
Rolling your eyes, you heard Dustin begin to argue with him about how you weren’t actually the un-dead and would talk to him - describing in vivid detail about how stupid that question was. Heaving a sigh, you slowly lifted yourself up in your bed, the blanket falling from around your head to your legs as you caught sight of Steve and the group of kids.
Lucas was the first to notice your movements, slapping Dustin on his shoulder rapidly causing your brother to let out a loud “dude!” Before he also caught sight of you.
“Y/N!” He all but screamed, coughing to soften his tone as he rushed into your room. The others all stumbling in after him. “Steve was just saying that he would let us rent any movie from his work, free of charge-”
Dustin was cut off by Steve frowning as he quickly shook his head and was about to say no - only for him to stop himself when he noticed the looks the group was sending him.
“Right, yeah sure - any movie you want,” Steve conceded. “Did you want to join?”
A brief smile graced your lips at the exchange, so familiar it almost felt unnatural. Rubbing your hands over your face a couple of times, you simply shrugged in response which caused Dustin to erupt into ideas.
“I will let you choose every movie we watch for the next month, I’ll even let you watch Sixteen Candles every day if you want!”
Clicking your tongue against your teeth, you took in the hopeful faces of the group around you. Dustin who was eagerly bouncing on the balls of his feet, Mike who was fiddling with your stuffed toys while he watched the scene unfold, Lucas who just seemed happy to be included, and Steve who was awkwardly scratching his head as he smiled at you.
“Fine,” you reluctantly agreed. “But only if you also buy me complimentary fries and a shake.”
“Yes!” Dustin shouted, fist bumping Steve. “Anything you want. Right Steve, you’ll buy her anything she wants?”
“Me?” Steve’s eyes slightly widened. “Why me?”
“Because, you’re the only one with a job.” Dustin stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Plus collectively we all have like twelve cents.”
Steve shook his head at your younger brother, before he began ushering everyone out of your room so you could get ready - promising Dustin that he would buy you anything you wanted.
“Harrington,” you stopped him just before he shut your bedroom door. Steve tilted his head in question. “I promise not to run you dry.”
He chuckled. “Thanks Henderson. I’m glad to have you back.”

red velvet cake - bf!eddie munson x fem!reader x brother!steve harrington
Summary: Your relationship continues to blossom with Eddie, however your older brother Steve isn’t the biggest fan and lines are tested
Warnings: swearing, smoking, tense situations, angst, fight fight fight, let me know if I miss anything!
Word count: 5.3k
a/n: Hey, all! Welcome to my first official post! If you enjoy, please like, reblog, etc! This was just a lil blurb, but I have other things in the works, so I’m hoping this goes well and I can continue to share with you all!
Tumblr media
“I need you and your big hair to calm down.”
Your brother looked to you quickly from the bathroom mirror, his face scrunched up at your comment.  “My hair is not big.”
“You say that and yet you’ve gone through your second can of hair spray this month,” you retorted, grabbing the can quickly in your hand.
Steve snatched for it but you held it behind you, ceasing any attempt of him grabbing it.  He sighed with a comb still lodged in his brown tuffs and leaned back against the counter.  Another disagreement between the two of you.  Nothing was new seeing as that was the typical way a brother and sister relationship stemmed.  From the time you were born, only a short year after Steve, you were at each other’s throats constantly and could never come to an agreement on anything.  Steve would steal your favorite toy that day from the toybox, so you’d steal the TV remote and sit on it to his disdain when your parents allowed you both to pick the nightly movie after dinner.  You’d spread gossip in the middle school of your older brothers crush on Tammy Thompson (before the singing career), and somehow most girls still believed in cooties, so he’d steal your clothes from your locker before gym class was over.  Today’s topic of conversation once again revisited your current dating life and now you were stealing his most prized possession.  This was the never ending, vicious, and annoying cycle only those who had a sibling could understand at the end of the day.
“I really don’t see what the big deal is,” you said, crossing your arms.  “Eddie and I have been seeing each other for almost a year now and you still refuse to hang out with him.”
“Yeah, it’s Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson.  He runs that club Dustin and Mike are in, huge nerd, and he’s in a band that plays at the Hideout” he grumbled.  “Also, he’s way older than you.”
“He’s twenty, Steve.  It’s not like I’m a kid anymore,” you replied.  “Also, he’s a senior.  I’m a senior.  And Hellfire is actually really cool if you’d take up the invites I’ve extended.”
Steve shook his head, wagging his finger.  “No, no, you’re a senior.  This is his third time being a senior.”
“And he’s gonna graduate!  He finally has a C in Mrs. O’Donnell’s!”
“It’s still weird.  And just because you date him doesn’t mean I have to like it.”
A groan escaped you and your arms dropped from their defensive position.  “But the least you could do is be civil with him.  I can’t bring him over because you make everything so uncomfortable, and now with Nancy’s party coming I’d just like the two of you to get along for once!”
Steve looked to you after your minor outburst and his eyes traveled your face.  He couldn’t help but be a little annoyed by you but he hated that in a sense, you were right.  He’d only based his opinions on Eddie off of what he knew from when he went to Hawkins High and what he heard around town.  You’d always dealt with his on and off again flings that never worked out and continued to accept each one as they came through the door so why couldn’t he do the same for you?  It might be the older sibling in him screaming at him to watch out for his baby sister but you were getting older and dating was just naturally right behind.  The thought ran a chill down Steve’s spine.
“Fine,” he sighed, standing straight.  “I’ll…  I’ll try. Just this once.  But I’m not going to the board game nights, though.”
You squealed and the jump that came with it shocked your brother.  You could get past his comments this once.  “Thank you, thank you!  Oh, Steve, I could hug you!”  You made a face realizing what just came out of your mouth and you shook your head.  “But I won’t.  Gross.  Here’s your even grosser hairspray, I have to go call Eddie!”
You shoved the can back in his hand and spun on your heels, now ready to face your boyfriend and his dislike for Steve.  Steve, however, felt a small smile creep up on his face at your antics.  His head snapped up at ‘hairspray’ and he groaned.
“It’s not just hair spray!” he yelled after you, before looking to himself in the mirror.  “It’s Farrah Fawcett spray.”
                                            ●          ●          ●          ●
Eddie had come to pick you up for your nightly drive together as soon as you had called, and you couldn’t help the excitement that buzzed in you.  He took note of this and turned down the head pounding sounds of Motley to focus in as soon as you had climbed in the passenger seat.  “What’s got you riled up, sweetheart?  Missed me that much?”
You smirked, looking to the doe eyed boy. “You’re so full of it, Eds.”
He tossed his hand to his heart, making those big eyes of his twinkle in the light of the dashboard.  “Only full of my love for you.”
You couldn’t help the laugh that bustled out and Eddie soon joined in, his hand now grabbing yours in his.  He squeezed gently and you squeezed back, the cold of his rings sending goosebumps up your arm.  “Now come on, spill.  You sounded way too excited on the phone.”
You nodded.  “While yes, I definitely missed you, I talked to Steve today about Nancy’s party.”
His hand lost a little grip to yours and you looked to him quickly, the smile on his face slowly disappearing and you frowned in response.  “Eddie, it was a good conversation.  He didn’t even say much in the negative category.”
“Much?” Eddie scoffed.  “So I’m guessing we’re gonna talk about it.”
“Well, yeah.  I mean, I would just really like you both to get along,” you shrugged.
           Eddie made a face.
           “For one night.”
An eyebrow raised as he looked at you.            “For me.”
That was it.  Right there.  Eddie was caught.  How could he say no to you?  Your relationship had been nothing but perfect, and there was a happy balance of entertaining each others interests.  You’d attend Hellfire meetings with him and watch Corroded Coffin practice, he’d come to your piano recitals and help you finish your notes for book club.  You’d share musical interests with each other and watch every movie under the sun, and you’d both agree Sixteen Candles would never been an option.  His Uncle Wayne had taken an immense liking to you as soon as you and Eddie became friends, he’d even tag along to your piano recitals sometimes when work didn’t have him in a chokehold.
“I know you two have never really liked each other, but you’re my boyfriend, he’s my brother.  At the end of the day I don’t want to have to pick between the two of you, and Steve has agreed to set aside all of it for the party.  I just want you to be in the same boat.”
“Is it just one night?” Eddie questioned, his eyes searching yours.
“If I can get one night of civil between you two, I can die happy,” you smiled softly.  “And besides, it’ll be fun.  Everyone will be there, the kids, Nancy, Robin, Jonathon, and I’m making your favorite.”
“Stop,” he gasped, the twinkle coming back and he grinned. “Please tell me it’s your red velvet cake.”
“With the homemade icing,” you nodded, watching him throw the theatrics back on and he fanned himself.  “Mrs. Wheeler has been asking for the recipe since I made it at Holly’s birthday last year, figured the party would be a good time to make it.”
“It’s always a good time for anything you cook,” Eddie praised, making you shift in your seat.  “Now I’m really looking forward to this party.”
“Well,” you sighed, adjusting yourself in your seat and turning your full body towards him.  “I know something that might help the wait.”
He noticed the change in your tone and his eyes didn’t lose the glimmer, just a different glimmer now displayed and he double checked the gear and threw it in park, having turned into the high school parking lot. “Oh?  Did you make something else for me?”
“I brought only the best for you,” you smiled, leaning up and across the console separating you.
Eddie bit his lower lip and his hand grabbed lightly at your face.  “Show me, princess.”
Immediately obliging, you pressed your lips to his and he quickly pulled you over the console, resting in his lap.  He seemed to take all of this better than Steve. Maybe the party would work out in your favor, hell, maybe they could even be friends by the end of it? Maybe?  Right?
                                           ●          ●          ●          ●
“I think it’s nice you’re setting aside your differences for your sister,” Nancy said, pouring a bag of chips into a large serving bowl.  Robin and Steve were helping her with last minute food prep as they awaited everyone to arrive.  Pizza was already there, sodas were in the cooler, Robin even brought movies from Family Video and Steve dug out the old board games your parents had stored away.
“It’s just for tonight,” Steve retorted, grabbing a Coke and quickly opening it.  He could feel his usual nerves heightened with the agreement between you and him. He’d never admit it, but having his little sister genuinely involved with someone was a huge thing for him (but also it being Eddie didn’t exactly please him either).  “I told her I’d try for tonight.”
“Why don’t you, I dunno, try everyday?” Robin said, raising an eyebrow.  “You’re missing out on future brother in law bonding time.”
Steve winced, groaning out and waved his hands. “No, no, no, don’t say that.  You don’t know that.”
“Ah, but you don’t know either,” the short haired fiend quipped and shrugged.  “Also it wouldn’t kill you to maybe get to know Eddie and form your own opinion. He’s sat with us at lunch a few times, he’s not so bad.”
Steve looked to Nancy, his face stressed.  “Can you believe this?”
Nancy pursed her lips, finishing up last touches. “I don’t think it’s honestly a big deal.”
“What?  You agree?” Steve said.  “You’ve seen Munson and-“
“And,” Nancy interrupted.  “-nothing.  I don’t have an opinion on Eddie because I don’t know him that well.”
Robin gestured in support, throwing her arms out in front of her.  “See?”
“Well he doesn’t make the effort either,” Steve defended.  “So why should I?”
“One of you has to, or you both have the chance of losing y/n,” Nancy responded, raising her eyebrow at him.  “It takes effort from both of you.”
           “But-“
The sound of shouting and laughing came from the front room and Nancy looked at him once more.  “Behave.”
Steve sighed as the kids piled in the kitchen, scurrying over each other and grabbing what their hands could before Nancy shooed them.  “We have more people coming, guys, come on!”
Jonathon followed in, shouting after Will and Dustin as they brushed past him into the living room.  He smiled kindly to Steve and soon took to the tension that radiated from the older boy.  “You alright?”
Steve nodded, taking a quick drink of his Coke. “Yeah, just being scolded by women. Again.”
Jonathon laughed briefly before Steve spoke up once more.  “Is my sister here yet?”
“Uh, I think her and Eddie weren’t too far down the road,” he replied.  “I passed them on the way here.”
“Good, good,” he nodded. “Great, wonderful, terrific.”
Steve continued on a tangent of positive words and Jonathon glanced between the two girls, pointing to Steve with an eyebrow raised.  Nancy rolled her eyes and shook her head.  Robin shrugged, sipping exceptionally loud on her drink.  Jonathon made a face at both of them and could only anticipate what to expect going into tonights events.
The same thought had been crossing Eddie’s mind all day. He knew that despite how he felt, he needed to try his best for you.  That meant setting aside how he felt about your brother, how Steve made him feel all those years in school, every single time Steve laid the ‘freak’ bit on thick – Eddie was preparing himself to leave it all at the door as soon as you arrived to the party.  He could only hope Steve was on the same page and tonight would move rather seamlessly.  If all went according to plan, maybe they could continue hating each other again bright and early tomorrow morning.
“Whoa!” you yelped, almost bumping into Eddie who had stopped in front of you.  The cake in your hands was fragile cargo and you swerved, saving it from meeting it’s demise with the pavement.  “Jeez, Eds, if you want any of this cake I would appreciate if you kept both feet moving or a heads up would be greatly appreciated.”
He turned abruptly and made a face, scratching the back of his head.  “Um, yeah, sorry, sweetheart.  Just lost in thought."
You couldn’t help but smile softly at him.  His nerves were on full display and you knew Steve was most likely in the same boat.  You’d do whatever you could to ease both of the boys tensions, to prevent anything from escalating, and you hoped they both knew you were on their sides and not against them.  It would be beneficial not just for you but the group, too, if there was common ground and structure and not the constant state of tension so thick, of awkward conversations, of debating if it should be both Steve and Eddie invited or one or the other.  Not only was it hard for you, but your friends who were also in the same predicament you were with two of the group members holding it out for one another.
“It’s gonna be fine, Eds,” you said as you stepped up the small step to the door.  “Deep breaths, like I taught you.”
He snorted, pushing the door open for you.  “Aye, aye, captain.”
The eye roll that followed had Eddie pinching at your hips, causing you to yelp and laugh, trying to escape the attack.  “Eddie, stop!  I have a cake in-“
Your back met with a firm surface and you gasped, hands gripping the dish even tighter.  You wobbled slightly, your feet finding an uneven surface and hands gripped your arms to keep you from tripping even further.  The eyes of Steve looked back at yours when you glanced back and you sighed, standing straighter after regaining your footing.  “I almost dropped the cake, Steve.”
“Maybe Eddie shouldn’t goof off as much, then,” he stated plainly, removing his hands and making eye contact with Eddie who had set his lips in a fine, tight line at the statement.
“Come on, Steve,” Nancy quipped, stepping in the room. “He was just being a little silly, that’s all.  Y/n, Eddie, there’s food and drinks in the kitchen!  Come on, I’ll help you get that cake in a safer spot.”
You smiled to Nancy, looking back at Eddie and raised an eyebrow.  He shook his head and held up his pack of cigarettes, slipping past the three of you and towards the back doors.  A frown soon replaced the former smile and you slipped pass Steve into the kitchen. Nancy gave him a stern look and hustled behind you.  This would be a long night.
                                         ●          ●          ●          ●
Eddie had rejoined the festivities shortly after his two cigarettes, his nerves only escalating at Steve and his comment.  Right off the bat, he had thought, he just had to jump into an accusatory stance.  He bit his tongue in your defense, but how long could he keep that up?  Jonathon and him had gotten into conversation you had overheard, and watched quietly from a distance.  Nancy and Robin chitchatted next to you, and the kids were already causing Steve’s inner mother to kick in.  Lucas and Mike were tossing a ball back and forth in the living room, Dustin and Will had turned on their favorite radio station and were singing much off tune to Madonna (much to everyone’s surprised enjoyment, even Eddie who only ever consumed that of every heavy 80’s metal or hairband), and Max and El were currently in a contest of who could crush a soda can the fastest: Max against her forehead, or El with her actually head?  Steve was in the current stages of trying to prevent possible brain damage, to both.  Erica was continuously bugging you for a slice of cake, to which you turned her down everytime.
           “Nerd,” she’d grumble.
“Don’t you agree?” Robin asked, bumping her hip into yours and you quickly looked to her, eyebrows raised.  You waited and she glanced to Nancy, then back.  “Have you really not been listening?  Babes, this is the impending doom of the possibility of not getting new band uniforms.”
“Oh, no,” you breathed, the end of ‘no’ hitching slightly in question and you couldn’t help the giggle that followed when Robin groaned.  Nancy joined in the laughter and Robin threw her hands up in exasperation.
“Fine!  I’ll go complain to Steve!”
“That might be good, actually,” you suggested, watching Steve stumble by with Dustin on his back and attempting to smack his hands away. “Looks like he could use the help.”
“Dustin!  Dustin, Steve is not a piñata!” Robin hollered, following after them as you and Nancy watched in amusement.
“So,” Nancy started in, refilling your cups and returning her gaze to the events taking place in the room next to you.  “They haven’t fought.”
“Ssh!” you snapped quickly, looking to her.  “Nance, you’ll jinx it!  This is the most I’ve seen them not go at each other, even if they are just keeping to themselves.  It’s a start and I’d like to keep it that way.”
“How long do you think it’ll keep up, though?” she asked honestly.  When you frowned at her question she set a hand on your arm.  “I want you happy, you’re my friend.  Knowing those two bone heads, though, I just worry they’ll drop the façade when you aren’t looking.”
Your frown creased even further into your face.  “I don’t know what I’m gonna do, Nance.  It’s my brother and my boyfriend.  I love them both, but I don’t wanna lose either of them.”
“I know,” Nancy sighed, before perking up.  “What if-“
“Watch it!” Steve shouted, and all eyes directed into the living room.
Eddie dusted Dustin’s shoulders off, before looking to Steve.  “You almost crashed the kid into the bookshelf, man, you should be the one watchin’ it.”
Steve scoffed, rolling his eyes.  “Like earlier when you nearly pummeled my sister into the ground?”
“Goddammit, Nancy,” you mumbled before stepping up a ways. “Steve, it was-“
His eyes cast to you and he scoffed.  “An accident?  Like anytime y’all horse around?”
“Hey,” Eddie snapped, stepping up to your side. “I’ve never laid a hand on her like that.”
           “Like what?” Steve retorted.
“You know exactly what you mean,” Eddie said.
Jonathon stepped up now, followed by Dustin.  “Come on, guys, everyone just caught up in the moment.  Everyone’s good.”
Steve shook his head.  “I’ll be good when he’s gone.”
“Steve!” Nancy said, shaking her head.
“Like hell!” Eddie laughed.  “I was invited!”
You sat a hand on Eddie’s shoulder, looking to him. “Eddie, calm down.”
“Fine!  Then I’ll go!” Steve said, and he looked to you.  “Come on, Y/N, we’re leaving.”
Everyone stared, Robin trying to talk quietly to Steve who was having none of it.  Nancy looked to Jonathon with a worried expression and the kids clamored to the other side of the room, just watching.  You stared at your brother in disbelief and shook your head.  “Steve, we just all need a break, please!  Let’s just all breathe a second!”
           “We can breathe at home.”
Steve stepped up and grabbed your arm, causing Eddie to grab the other.  You squeaked at the force of the two boys, looking to Nancy with wide eyes.  They had never escalated to protectiveness with you involving each other in the same moment, it had never gotten this heated before and the worry crept in the pit of your stomach, causing bile to slowly rise in the back of your throat.  You swallowed it down, the panic on your face evident and Nancy immediately jumped in.
“Boys!” Nancy yelled, grabbing onto Steve and Jonathon grabbing Eddie.
“Come on, guys, this is stupid,” Jonathon added and patted Eddie on his back.
“She doesn’t wanna go,” Eddie snarled, staring Steve right in the face.
“I’m her brother, older might I add, so what I say goes,” Steve responded, Nancy tugging on his belt loop.
“Guys, please stop!” you cried, wiggling in their grips.  “You said you’d try!  Just break it up!”
Dustin and Max came up, prying the older boys grips and Robin stepped up to pull you aside, her arm slipping around your shoulders. Eddie shook his head, chuckling to himself and turned away from Steve which caused Jonathon to loosen his grip. Nancy kept a petite finger interloped in Steve’s belt loop for safe keeping.
“Steve, why don’t we go outside for a minute?”  Nancy mumbled, tugging lightly.
Steve broke his gaze on Eddie, wiping a hand down his face. He nodded slowly and turned towards her. “Yeah… yeah anything to get away from that freak.”
The words slipped out without a second thought. Steve froze, as did everyone else, and eyes landed on Eddie.  The panic that set in was worse than the first time and you pulled away from Robin, going to Eddie immediately.  As soon as the words were out, Eddie’s shoulders tightened and his back went straight. Jonathon could see his face and he watched every emotion cross over it – shock, realization, anger, guilt, sadness, absolute rage.  Eddie couldn’t register who was near him and his hearing went into a high frequency pitch.  His eyes darkened and the only thing you felt was the shove, a rush of air, and your back hitting the counter of the island.  “Eddie, no!”
Eddie swung first.  His fist connected quickly with Steve’s jaw and the elder boy stared stone cold at him as Steve stumbled to the ground.
“Shit,” Dustin muttered and everyone was quick in action.
Steve jumped up from the ground, Will and Mike trying to hold him back while Jonathon and Dustin grabbed for Eddie.  Lucas moved Max and Erica out of the way and Robin and Nancy stepped up to your side.
“Let me go!” Steve yelled.  “Let me go!”
“Knock it off!” Mike snapped, stumbling at the tug Steve attempted away from the younger boys.
“Come on!” Eddie cackled.  “Let pretty boy get a nice swing in!”
           “Don’t push it!” Jonathon snapped.
“I’m slipping!” Dustin yelled, his palms clammy and his upper arm strength nonexistent in the pull Eddie had.
“Eddie, Steve, stop!” you shouted.  “Stop right now!”
“I’ll never understand what my sister sees in you!” Steve shouted, glaring.  “She could do so much better!”
Eddie scoffed and licked his lips.  “Like I haven’t heard that before!  At least I can land a gal, you strike out on every chance you get!  So much for being the Hawkins King!”
           “Shut up!” you again yelled.
“Maybe you should listen to your girlfriend!  She’s clearly got the brains in this relationship!” Steve smirked.  “Third times a charm right?”
“It’s no wonder she hates being at home!” Eddie started, and you froze.  “I wouldn’t want to be around someone as idiotic, full of themselves, and a kiss ass like you!”
“Bullshit she doesn’t want to be at home!  It’s better than that trailer trash park you’re in! I’m surprised she hasn’t brought home bed bugs or lice!”
“Ask her then!  You don’t even try to get to know her anyway, so what does it matter!”
           “I know my sister!”
           “Like hell!”
Tears began to well in your eyes and you tried your best to swallow them down.  The adrenaline was suffocating, everyone getting their own taste of it.  Dustin’s grip slowly lost and Eddie pulled free the rest of the way, Steve finding his way out from Will and Mike.  Everyone started yelling all at once when the two got ahold of each other, causing mass chaos to ensue.  Fists flying, Eddie landed another blow to Steve’s eye – it would definitely be swollen in the next hour and shut completely by the end of the night.  Steve tumbled around with Eddie, landing two good blows into his ribs causing the metalhead to yell out – they weren’t broken but there would definitely be major bruising and tender for a while.  You attempted your own chance at pulling them apart, but the force of the two sent you stumbling and Nancy shouted, anger setting in for her at the two acting this way in her home.  “Knuckleheads, break it up or I’ll call Hopper!”
The two continued their dance, nearly tumbling into the three of you and Steve slammed Eddie against the counter top.  Eddie flailed beneath him and Steve sent a blow to his jaw, causing Eddie to yelp in pain.  He glared up at Steve and reached around him for anything that would help him gain some traction.
His hand landed in something mushy, his fingers feeling a heavy, thick, consistency on them but he went with it.  Eddie grabbed a fist full and landed a blow into Steve’s face, causing him to gasp and lose his hold.  Steve wiped his face, red crumbs and white icing coating his hand. He stared at it before looking up and it was on before you could stop them.  Steve grabbed his own fist full and the two went back to it, cake and icing flying in every which direction.  Food and drinks came with it and everyone yelled as soon, the entire party was coated in carbonation, crumbs of chips, and icing being flung every which direction.  Nancy tried to block herself, screaming out in anger.  Oh, how much trouble she was going to be in for this later.
You felt the tears brimming, pushing, and soon tumbling over your waterline.  They were heavy, hot, and quickly cascading down your face.  Your chest heaved as you struggled to catch your breath and everything moved in slow motion in front of you.  The cake was destroyed, demolished, gone, as were any chances of your two favorite people reconciling and putting any differences behind them.  There went any chances of family dinners, trips, any chances of enjoying a Corroded Coffin show, any chances of a future that was healthy with either one.  You watched as they continued their antics, neither one of them sparing any glance to check on you, to see your reaction, for any sign or confirmation that you were okay.  In this moment, it was about Steve and Eddie.  It was always about Steve and Eddie.  Reflecting and looking back, even when it was you and only one of them, it turned around to discuss the other.
Steve always wanted to know what Eddie was doing, who he was hanging out with, where you were going with him, if Eddie was trying to sell you weed, if you two were drinking.  Anything he could get dirt on for your parents.  Eddie always wanted to know what Steve was doing, if he was working, when he was working, and when he’d be home so he could plan exactly to come get you at the worst time just to annoy him.  It was little things, it was spiteful, and the two couldn’t leave high school behind.  Where did you even fit in to the equation?  At that point it’d be better for them to just date each other.
Making your way to the now empty cake platter, a splash of Coke greeting you in the face on your trek, you grabbed the glass dish firmly in your hands.  The porcelain was completely clean, smooth, no crumbs of what had been.  This is what your life would be now; clean, smooth, no crumbs of what had been.  The surface, slipping back and forth in your hands, would not survive this fight either. Arms raising above your head, you could hear your pulse in your ears, not even the shout from Robin when she saw what you were doing, it was so loud.  Even when you screamed out in frustration, you couldn’t hear how actually loud you were, how it was almost deafening as the realization set over the situation in front of you.  Most everyone covered their ears with their hands, wide eyed and cowering back from what was to come.  With your screaming, you quickly brought the plate crashing down to the kitchen tile and shards of glass went flying.  The small pieces grazed your bare calves, probably not the best time to be wearing shorts.  Steve and Eddie were the two closest to the line of fire, both of them turning away and blocking their faces.  When the glass had calmed, that’s when your screaming did, and the deafening silence that followed felt louder.
Everyone looked around, food and drink covering every surface in the kitchen and half of the living room.  The glass had spread from the bottom of your feet into the line of the living room, down the tile of the kitchen, and even some had managed to bounce to the countertop.  All eyes slowly landed on you, Eddie and Steve both finally taking in the mass destruction of what they had caused.  Tears continued to stream down your face, mixed with the icing slabbed on your cheek and the stain of Coke all along the collar and upper shoulders of your shirt. Eddie looked to your legs and saw the thin lines of blood from the shards, before meeting your face again.  Steve watched as your shoulders shook from the sobs held in, your face as red as the cake you had made.
           Oh shit, the cake.
           “Oh, baby,” Eddie started.
“Kiddo, I-“ Steve added at the same time.
“No!” you sobbed.  The room grew quiet again.  All eyes were on you.  This was your time.
“I-“ you started, taking a deep breath to try and align yourself.  “I didn’t want to lose- to lose either of you.  I wanted th-this to work.  Just once!”
Guilt began creeping over the boys, disappointment settled in Steve’s bones as he knew he let you down, Eddie feeling his own tears start to grow at the state you were in.  They didn’t want this.
“But now,” you chuckled, causing both boys to go rigid in fear.  “Now I realize you’re losing me.”
You looked to each of them, a sob tight in your chest and you choked it back.  With shaking hands, you wiped the remaining food from your face, and brushed past the two of them and everyone else.  The sobs finally racked your chest as you quickly made your way out the door, slamming it shut behind you.
Steve and Eddie looked around before looking at each other.  They both were fucked up.  And they had fucked up.  Big time.

Dustin Hendersons older sister
FIGURE YOU OUT:
Chapter 1
When Dustin had invited his friends over he didn’t anticipate his sister and niece falling asleep on the couch before they were supposed to arrive.
His original plan had been to have a movie marathon but now he was unsure if they’d both be able to sleep through the noise. He’d known you were up practically all night, he’d heard the frustrated groans and heavy feet even from his room at the top of the stairs.
Normally his well behaved niece would sleep through the night and barely even fuss but the poor two year old was battling an ear infection. “Dude do you think we’ll wake them up if we just watch the movies?” Mike asked hushed as he looked over at the back of the older woman.
“Look I don't want to wake either of them” Dustin sighs quietly, “Y/N was up all night” Lucas made a sympathetic face, and glanced over at the subtle movement of Dustin’s sister.
When y/n graduated highschool, she had run away with her lover leaving their mom distraught. Y/N returned almost a year later, heavily pregnant, crying about how her supposed highschool sweetheart had left her.
Y/N didn’t really like to talk about it in detail, Dustin understood that there was more to it but never pushed. He was happy his older sibling was back, and enjoyed being an uncle.
The loud banging on the door startled the boys, all eyes looking to y/n. The banging continued, causing Dustin to scramble up and jerk the door open. “Dude” he hissed looking up to the curly headed senior.
The smile on Eddie’s face faltered, confused at the not so friendly greeting, “that’s no way to greet a guest Henderson” even his normal speaking voice was boisterous.
“My sister’s asleep on the couch” Dustin spoke quietly causing Eddie to try and peek around the foyer to see for himself. He gave an apologetic smile and pushed past the younger boy.
“What’s the plan, boys?” Eddie asked, trying to be quiet. They all shrugged, unsure what would be quiet enough to not wake the two fast asleep on the couch.
Dustin spoke “y/ns usually a deep sleeper” shrugs and continues, “we can just try going ahead with the movie marathon” The rest of them nodded in agreement, Dustin went to the kitchen and began gathering snacks, the others followed in order to help.
Y/n jolted awake, unaware of the group of teens in the kitchen, or the repeat senior who was supervising them. She looked down making sure the small child wrapped in her arms was still asleep.
She took the opportunity to unwrap from the child and stand, stretching. Y/n took the blanket off the back of the couch covering the toddler with it. The quiet chattering of the teens had reminded her of Dustin’s plan. She felt awful as well as embarrassed.
Y/n made her way to the kitchen and leaned against the frame, “if I ordered pizza would you boys eat any?” This caught the kids off guard causing them to jump, y/n chuckled not aware of the taller man on the other side of the room.
They talked amongst themselves and then nodded in agreement that pizza would be good. “I’ll go order, Dustin can you-“ she didn’t even need to finish her question before he nodded understanding to keep an eye on the toddler.
Y/n called the local pizza place putting in a decent sized order. Treating the teens was the least she could do, especially as she’d realized they had tried to be quiet and still were.
She took the opportunity to freshen up, which just consisted of fixing the loose ponytail and brushing the sleep smell off her breath. Y/n wanted nothing more than to curl into the bed and go back to sleep, but that wouldn’t be fair to either Dustin or her child.
The outfit that was currently being worn was fine, she was going for comfort rather than impression. When y/n came back out and glanced over at the couch her child slept on, tucked into the corner of it was a tall curly headed man.
Dustin had mentioned Eddie before, however, the thought of him being what looked to be almost her age never crossed her mind. He looked at her child as if she was a bomb waiting to go off. Normally she wasn’t much of a worry, but there was no telling today.
“Here let me-” Y/n  started and bent down to pick up her child to give Eddie more room, as he was frantically telling her it was okay. Jovie was picked up carefully and carried to the room she shared with her mother.
Mike smirked and looked at Eddie, “Scared of a baby Munson?” Eddie went to say something but stopped when y/n walked back into the room and spoke, “What’re we watching?”
Dustin had no qualms against his sister joining, she was into just about the same things he was. “I think we’re going to watch a bunch of horror movies” he looked to the rest of the group to make sure they were in agreement.
“Oh! In that case-” she held up a hand, hurrying off to her room again, this time returning with a stack of movies. “Steve dropped these off” Dustin carefully took the stack and looked through it, passing the tapes to each of the boys to get approval.
“Half of these are new releases” Mike states, in shock. Y/n shrugged unsure of what to say, though she knew the gesture was more than just friendly from her babysitter. She wouldn’t entertain the idea.
“You guys cool with these movies then?” Dustin asked and each of them voiced an agreement. He made quick work to start up the first movie, while y/n paced waiting for the pizza afraid that the doorbell would wake up her child.
Eddie made his way to the foyer once the smell of melted cheese wafted into the living room. “Need help?” he asked lowly, y/n gasped not expecting the voice behind her. “Sorry,” he apologized.
Y/N shook her head, “No, you’re fine.” Said nothing else handing over two boxes of pizza. He made his way back to the living room strumming up excitement with the food. Y/n follow behind him shortly after, as she went to set her two boxes down an all too familiar cry erupted. “Fuck, I’m sorry boys” everyone but Eddie mumbled out a dismissal, not caring about the one small cry.
She went to go check on the ill child, Jovie stood in her crib, face crumpled in a grumpy expression. “What is it grumpy butt” y/n asked as she picked up the disheveled child. “Hungry?” Jovie nodded, placing a small hand over her left ear. “I know, time for medicine.” Jovie fussed, y/n bounced her trying to soothe the child “Hey, Uncle Mike and Lucas are here” This seemed to perk the child up.
Y/n smiled as she made her way back to the living room, “My and Lu!” Jovie shouted grabbing everyone’s attention. Making grabby hands at the two boys sitting next to one another.
“Hi Jo” Mike said just as excited, albeit fake enthusiasm. Mike also knew y/n disliked- no hated her child being called Jo. So this was his way of annoying her like any “normal” sibling would.
Jovie’s feet made contact with the floor and went to the two boys, dustin looked over them catching y/ns attention “want me to wait?” He’d been asking about the movie, she shook her head not wanting to throw more of a damper on their movie night even more than she already thought she had.
Dustin went ahead and started the tape while y/n grabbed the medicines from the kitchen. “Come in booger butt” she said sitting on the floor in front of the couch that still held an enamored Eddie.
Eddie watched as y/n expertly spooned each fruity smelling liquid into the toddlers mouth, then rewarding with small cut up bits of pizza. As if they still wouldn’t taste like the gross fruit flavored medication. As much as Eddie wanted to watch the movie, he’d be completely fine watching her all night.
Y/N barely made it through the first movie, Eddie noted when he had glanced from the screen to her. The child however was wide awake, being entertained by Dustin at least at the moment.
In between movies Dustin laid a blanket around his older sibling careful not to wake her, especially as he places a couch pillow behind her neck. It was clear to Eddie, Dustin cared deeply for his sister almost more than some siblings would. Eddie may have thought her ex or baby daddy or whatever, was just a piece of shit and left her to raise the baby on her own. Which is why Dustin cared so much.
Two more movies down and everyone decided to pause for a bathroom break. Eddie was the first back to his seat, noticing the toddler sitting in the middle of the couch as if waiting for him to return, “heydoh” she said clearly trying to say hello.
“Hi” he said, unsure what was happening. Then looked around for Dustin, “I’m Eddie” he continued holding out his giant ring clad hand.
Jovie examined his hand and took her tiny one wrapping it around his pointer finger. He’d almost melted at the gesture, never having an interaction like this before.
She tried to say something but whined placing a hand over her left ear. Eddie looked down to y/n to see if the sound had woken her up but she might as well have been dead.
“Your ear hurt?” Jovie nodded in reply to his question. He glanced around the room trying to find the medicine or grab Dustin’s attention.
Dustin who had overheard was already preparing the medications came over and handed the small measuring cup, “how do I-“ Eddie went to ask but was ignored, he swallowed down the anxiety.
Jovie instinctively opened her mouth ajar, Eddie carefully placed the rim of the cup against her lips and tipped it back. She coughed causing Eddie to curse “oh shit”
“She’s fine” Dustin stated, “she’s dramatic, aren’t you Jovie” she giggled like she knew exactly what he was saying to her. “Thanks for doing that”
Eddie mumbles a no problem as the child crawls in his lap. His arms fly up into the air unsure of where to put them. Jovie made herself comfortable in his lap, uncaring of who he was and focused on the movie. One that he wasn’t sure she should even be watching but if Dustin wasn’t concerned; He wasn’t going to be either.
Hours went on, the Hendersons’ mom had come home to a living room full of sleeping teens and her grandchild. She let them be and went on to bed herself, y/n awake, panicked as she was unable to find her daughter. She stood looking around only to find her tucked away in Eddie Munsons arms as he laid flat across the couch. She smiled softly at the sight contemplating on pulling her from his arms.
Y/n had no intention of waking him up but she’d feel safer if her daughter was asleep in her crib. As she tried to gently take Jovie from his arms, they tightened around her slightly and y/n decided to not worry about it. Her brother wouldn’t be friends with some weirdo, right? She made sure to place a blanket over the both of them, once she was satisfied that Jovie wasn’t going to roll off the couch she made her way back to her bedroom, changed her clothes and crawled back into bed.

can you do a mike x girl reader where steve is her brother and sees them making out like hopper in season 3
A/N - Absolutely, I’m already giggling about Steve’s reaction. Fresh Sofa is out of stock, we only got Soda.
>Mama Steve had seen you hang out with Mike a lot lately. He assumed it was because you were apart of the party, which was also how he met Nancy.
>So he just thought you guys were planning a campaign for the Party. You both had done this sort of thing before several times.
>So when you told Steve that Mike would be coming over to your house, he shrugged and told you to tidy up your bedroom.
>When Mike came over, you rushed to open the door before Steve could even get of the lounge.
>“Having fun with that campaign, huh?” Steve laughed off, missing the awkward side-eye you gave Mike.
>”Sure.” You grabbed Mike’s hand and dragged him upstairs to where your bedroom was.
>Steve went back to the show that was on tv.
>After like half an hour, Steve decided to bring you a snack. He was sick of seeing you accidentally starving yourself cause you got sidetracked for hours, nearly days at a time.
>He grabbed a bag of chips and two cans of soda for you and Mike, and headed up the stairs.
>He didn’t bother knocking. He didn’t think he needed to. But how he wish he did.
>He saw his ex girlfriends younger brother sticking his tongue down his willing sisters throat.
>”What in the actual fuck are you doing!?”
>You and Mike immediately broke apart and stared at Steve awkwardly.
>”Yes Steve?” You asked, putting on your little sister act to avoid as much trouble as possible.
>”You two were just making out! Why?!”
>Mike looked at him, his faces scrunched from how Steve failed to see the obvious.
>”We’re dating? Can’t you tell?”
>”You told me you were gonna plan a campaign for the Party!”
>”You assumed that, it was easier to let you think we were being innocent teens.” You had chummed in.
>”Sibling meeting! Wheeler, get home!”
>”He’s staying, don’t you wanna tell Mike off? It was his idea. Plus, when you give us the all go to date, you’re gonna need to give the talk.”
>Steve scoffed, thought about it and sighed in absolute defeat.
>Steve agreed, and you all sat on the floor and talked for like 20 minutes.
>It took him 20 minutes to cave and give in to your little pleas.
>And he indeed did have the talk with Mike.
>Also called up Hopper to ask for pointers, he knows Mike and El use to date.
>So now when Mike is over, you’re both downstairs, where he can see you.
>Or if all 3 of you are upstairs, your bedroom is opened 3 inches.
>He barely catches you guys make out. But when he does, he looks disappointed, annoyed and disgusted.
>”Guess we both find the Wheelers attractive, huh Steve?”
>You were Steve’s pest of a sister who he couldn’t say no to, but wishes he could.<3

our house
summary: when you and steve move in together, your house becomes a regular hangout spot for dustin and his friends.
pairing: steve harrington x henderson!sister reader
title 🎵: our house by madness
Tumblr media
You and Steve have started living together. You’re renting a house in Hawkins, not far from your mom and Dustin. You and Steve stayed in town because you wanted to clean up the mess that Vecna made after opening the gates. You both want to be here to help defeat Vecna and close off the gate to the Upside Down once and for all.
The house you're renting is pretty nice. It has 3 bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a private bathroom for you and Steve. You were able to rent the house very cheap because so many people had fled Hawkins after Vecna opened the gate.
Since moving in, Dustin and his friends have started coming over almost on a daily basis. Your house, along with the Wheelers’ basement, has become one of the official hangouts for the party. You and Steve don’t mind. Besides stopping Vecna, another reason you remained in Hawkins was so you could stay close to your friends and family - especially your little brother. You and Steve actually kind of like providing a safe space for the kids to hangout.
Sometimes the kids crash for the night in one of the spare rooms or on the couch. Tonight happens to be one of those nights… Dustin, Erica and Lucas are all staying over. The three kids ended up at your place for different reasons.
Dustin came over because your mom is working the overnight shift and you didn’t want your little brother to spend the night home alone. He’s at your house so often that he basically has his own room already.
Erica showed up unannounced. She got into a stupid fight with her mom and needed some space to cool off. Erica told her parents that she was spending the night at her friend Tina’s but she went over to your house because Tina doesn’t have Duck Hunt.
Lucas asked if he could crash at your place because he was staying late at the hospital to visit Max again and he didn’t want his parents to know. Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair are trying to get Lucas to stop visiting Max all the time. They want him to move on from what happened but he can’t. Lucas loves Max and he will visit her in the hospital every day until she wakes up. So to avoid getting into an argument, Lucas lied to his parents. He told them he was spending the night at Dustin’s. Luckily his parents didn’t question it.
Truth be told, Lucas actually prefers spending time with his friends after visiting Max. You guys know what really happened to her and what’s going on in Hawkins. Lucas loves his parents but sometimes they just don’t understand.
It was a pretty lowkey, quiet night in the Henderson/Harrington household. Erica set the table while you got dinner ready. You made a casserole. The recipe was given to you by Mrs. Wheeler. After dinner, Steve and Dustin cleaned the dishes. You read a book on the couch and Erica played Duck Hunt until Lucas arrived from the hospital. Then you all hung out in the living room and watched a movie that Steve brought home from the video store.
Now it’s getting late. Dustin went to sleep in his room, Erica took the other guest room and Lucas is crashing on the couch. You and Steve are in your room, getting ready for bed.
“Good call getting The Goonies for movie night! I think the kids really loved it,” you smile.
“They better have loved it! It was the last copy at the store. I had to lie to like five different customers that asked about it,” Steve tells you.
“Are you serious?!” you laugh.
Steve nods. You look at your boyfriend with heart eyes.
“That’s actually kinda sweet,” you say softly.
Steve smirks, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh yeah?”
You nod your head, about to reply back, when-
BOOM
Suddenly the entire house starts to violently shake. Earthquakes have been more frequent in Hawkins since Vecna opened the gate, but they are still something that you’re not used to. This is one of the bigger earthquakes you’ve experienced. The force is so strong that you fall to the ground.
“Y/N!”
Steve stumbles to get to you. He wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you up to your feet. You stay by his side, clutching onto each other for support.
And then, just as abruptly as it started, the earthquake stops. You and Steve stay silent for a beat, bracing yourselves for any aftershock. The room remains still.
“Is it over?” you ask, uneasy.
“I think so,” Steve cautiously replies under his breath.
You and Steve let go of each other. A million thoughts are racing through your head, but the most important-
“We need to check on the kids,” you say with a quiet urgency in your voice.
“Yeah,” your boyfriend nods in agreement. You both feel like concerned parents right now.
You and Steve leave your room to find Erica standing by her doorway.
“So you all felt that too? I’m not crazy!” Erica exclaims.
Steve sighs, shaking his head. You quickly look Erica up and down to make sure she isn’t injured.
“Are you okay?” you ask.
“I’m fine,” Erica tells you, “But we should probably go check on Lucas downstairs.”
You and your boyfriend exchange eye contact, silently communicating. You already know what the other is thinking. He’ll go downstairs with Erica to make sure Lucas is ok while you check up on your little brother.
“Let’s go,” Steve nods to Erica.
Steve and Erica head towards the stairs and you continue down the hall to Dustin’s room.
KNOCK, KNOCK
“Hey Dusty! Are you alright?”
You wait a beat. No response. You take a deep breath and try again.
KNOCK, KNOCK
“Dustin!”
Still no response. Now you’re worried. You attempt to open the door but it’s stuck.
“Shit!” you curse to yourself.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
“C’mon Dustin! Open the door! Dustin?!”
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
You’re frantically knocking at your brother’s door when Steve comes back upstairs. He can tell something is wrong and rushes over to you.
“Y/N! What’s going on?” your boyfriend asks.
“Dustin isn’t responding,” you anxiously reply.
Steve tries opening the door but it won’t budge.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
“Hey Henderson! C’mon man, open up!”
No response. Steve shrugs.
“All right, that’s it! I’m gonna kick the door open,” he tells you.
Steve takes a deep breath, mentally readying himself to kick down the door, when-
CREAK
The door opens a crack and Dustin squeezes his way out.
“Dustin! Are you okay?!”
You pull your little brother into a big hug.
“You scared the shit out of me, dork!”
Steve lets out a sigh of relief. He stands back to let you have a moment with your brother.
“Oh, uh, sorry. I’m okay. I couldn’t get out because the bureau fell over and is blocking the door,” Dustin explains. He was able to move the bureau over enough to get out of the room but it’s too heavy for him to lift by himself.
“Do you need help moving it out of the way?” Steve offers.
Dustin nods.
Your boyfriend and brother squeeze through the door to get back into Dustin’s room. Together, they lift up the bureau and move it back to where it was before the earthquake hit. After they’re done pushing the bureau out of the way, Steve pats Dustin on the head. He’s just relieved that the kid is alright.

The day Dustin finds out you and Steve are dating is arguably the best day of his life.
“Oh my god I knew it! I can’t believe you two shitheads actually kept this from me! This is the best day of my entire life.”
From then on, Dustin insists on coming with you to see Steve at least once a week (sometimes more).
Steve loves Dustin so he really doesn’t mind at all for Dustin to tag along on a few date nights.
You and Steve babysit Dustin together !! Although Dustin prefers the term “hanging out” inside of babysitting.
Steve always brings two movies with him from Family Video on these nights. He brings one for the two of you to watch with Dustin (usually a comedy or an action movie) and then other for the two of you to watch after Dustin goes to bed.
“Okay, I’m going to bed. I better not hear any weird noises. We all like to use that couch, you know.” “Dustin!”
Your mom loves Steve. She invites him to dinner twice a week.
You would never tell either of them, but you’re secretly really thankful that Steve and Dustin are such good friends. You don’t think you’d ever be able to date someone who didn’t like your brother.
“Y/N, it’s my turn to hang out with Steve!” “He’s literally my boyfriend, Dustin.” “I don’t care, I knew him first.”
Dustin is your biggest supporter. Between Dustin and Robin, you don’t think you could ever break up with Steve. It would break their hearts.
Dustin begs to teach you and Steve how to play DnD. You guys eventually cave, but it only lasts for a couple days because you are truly so awful at it.
Steve sneaks in your window some nights, which Dustin thinks is hilarious.
“Dude, use the front door?” “No, it’s more romantic this way.”
Steve gives Dustin girl advice and Dustin really tries to follow it. He wants his relationship with Suzie to be just like your relationship with Steve.
Dustin looks up to both of you so much. He really thinks that you’re the coolest people in the world.
