Juana's favourite memory.

a little story/headcanons up ahead, and the sketch for this piece, tehee ;p

she always liked making flower crowns with her parents, especially when inevitably there were leftover flowers that they could throw unto the air to make it seem like it was raining flowers. her dad was always better at making the crowns, but her mama always found the best flowers to use and which went together well. and she always found the best picnic spots.

her dad made sure there were no bees around and that she always had an epipen with a spare and a spare for the spare. her mana made sure none of the food with them had animal products or nuts, and made sure she had her safe foods.

and our little Juanita made sure her family stuck together. sure her parents bickered, but she always had to faux-gag after they kissed and made up. she got to sit and lean on her mama's chest, curled up in his embrace while the sun warmed her scaly skin, listening to the humming of her dad while he carefully made her the most beautiful flower crown befitting a princess. she got to laugh and giggle while her dad gave her the extra flowers to throw into the air and her mama gave a weather report of incoming "flower rain".

her dad still checks for bees and makes sure he has an epipen and makes flowercrowns, but he no longer has anyone to do it for.

her mama still makes sure there's no nuts or meat in the food he brings with him, but he realises as soon as the rain falls that there's no reason to do it anymore.

and our little huevo isn't there to bring them together.

I always fall over heels for the intrepids like 7; I tend to stick to creative-driven characters like 6; and... surprise: I love the jerkass leader 1 because... Do you think I need excuses? Yes? No?

Old doodles circa 2020... well, not so old but still makes me feel old (did this during my years learning to paint my photo-scan doodles with a mobile phone app) but because I didn't have time to do proper new artwork for the anniversary of this dear movie (I try to do it every September) I thought why not share some of the art I have so far?

why is so much of sewing just tracing and cutting and tracing again q_q i see why people get projectors and use adobe illustrator now

#drawing up a design that i can easily pattern from my sloper: 😊#actually having to make the pattern by tracing and cutting ad infinitum: 😰#piecing together printer paper to get a big enough sheet of paper and doing this ten million times: 🥲😭#not to mention the IRONING.... prewashing the fabric and having to iron 8 yards of fabric???? excuse me????#and then distorting it as i iron bc it has a slight stretch and i got so tired i stopped being careful 2 yards in #and the way that you're supposed to press every seam... excuse me... am i just supposed to have my iron heated and on standby at all times #AND THE STEAM??? i just got stay tape the other day and thought it'd be a neat alternative to stay stitching #BUT IT NEEDS STEAM TO ACTIVATE (which okay makes sense) BUT long story short i'm too afraid to use the steam function #on my iron because none of us are sure if water should go back into a tank that's been in disuse for 30+ years #so instead i get this water spray pen and delicately spray down the length of each piece of stay tape #before i cover it with a piece of gauze and iron it. and then i have to iron it extra so all the water actually evaporates #oh and the spray pen holds as much water as half a pen so i have to walk to the kitchen every 10 sprays to refill it #and i have to do this for every curved edge on my pattern pieces #i mean the alternative is just stay stitching but then i would have to calibrate my settings for a single layer of fabric instead of double #which means i have to switch my needle out more and i'm still new enough that sometimes i install a needles wrong despite going through #all the same exact motions that i usually would. i'm LITERALLY suffering out here. anyway can't wait to sew or whatever #oh and did i mention i went to a sewing meetup recently? yeah...#everyone there bought like $30-$100/yard fabric and i was there awkwardly knowing i only buy like $12/yard fabric #honestly though i have the opposite problem people usually joke about. i find it So hard to find fabric i actually like #it needs to be the right fiber + right color + right pattern/texture + right weight + i have to know exactly what i'm going to make with it

if i finish writing my fic about chilchuck teaching marcille to knit it'll be over for you guys

#pickle pontificates #think about it. i found another extra that references magic warmups btw #that one had hair braiding meditation and hand gestures #but think about it. are knitting/crochet/various other needle arts not very repetitive meditative things???#wouldn't knitting be a great method of magic warmups in place of hair braiding???#marcille uses her hair for magic a couple times and it could be that it has inherently magical properties #but my theory is that hers is imbued with magic because she uses it for warmups all the time #so then it could follow that the resulting knitted items would be imbued with magical properties... dungeon rabbit resistant scarf anyone?#or a fireproof sweater?#why is chilchuck my chosen victim for the person to teach her? well. on my conspiracy wall over here you can see that chilchuck frequently #sits down to sew his clothes/equipment back together throughout canon. i think it's safe to say that he's canonically good at sewing #the only other characters who we see demonstrate similar abilities are mrs. tansu who is a beast at knitting and an icon #and falin. who carries sewing supplies in her equipment (smart) but has frankly atrocious stitching #as can be seen in the comic where she and laios offer to help put marcille's name on her stuff and it's illegible #mrs. tansu really has no relation to marcille #and although falin's bad sewing may have been due to her eyesight (which would no longer affect that) she is canonically also a bad teacher #i think she would try enthusiastically but i do not see it working out #so chilchuck it is.#a fic based around these concepts allows me to further these agendas:#marcille recovering from dungeon lord shenanigans with the help of her friends agenda #chilchuck engaging in reluctant dadly activities agenda #needle arts chilchuck agenda #and... the special bonus i would like to get to... chilchuck reuniting with his wife agenda #and wingman marcille agenda #AND contributing to the dunmeshi platonic fic agenda??? so many wins #there.#now all i gotta do is finish writing it. which is an issue because i have two school assignments due yesterday

healing from brain damage is definitely the worst injury ive ever had to heal from so far 😞 this shit is so difficult yall

#tiny bit of my long med history for context:#i have broken my collarbone #i have had my face mauled by a dog where i had to Literally Physically tear it off my face #it locked its jaw around my nose and upper lip #i got like 10 stitches and they had to super glue my nose back together #but uhhhhhh #i got a concussion as a kid that went untreated because our healthcare system is so underfunded and understaffed #and that turned into what the doctors call ''functional nausea and vomiting disorder''#then on monday i got another concussion at work #and holy shit.#second-impact syndrome is a BITCH #im in so much pain if i use my brain at all #hey other dissociative people: you've dissociated from your body but have you ever had to dissociate from your brain?#or is this what being forcefully locked at the front and locked out of headspace feels like?#i think this might be worse though because i cant think at allllllllllllllllllllll #i get delirious if i try 😔#this is so hard #i sobbed in the shower over it for like 30 minutes today lol #i had to sit down in the middle of my shower and it was so hard yall #im trying to hard not to spiral #being vulnerable and putting this on my main instead of hiding it on one of my many many sideblogs #(jsyk if youve read this far then youre allowed to ask me what my active sideblogs are. dms and asks are open)#(@queerlyneurotic is one of my vents and where i usually put sad shit. you get a freebie for reading this.)

Idiot. and also maybe listen to your sister.#honestly i REALLY like robin i think she's super super great and has good ideas #i really really love the like. the.#the contrast between his like. his horrible pessimistic nihilistic ideology. and robins optimistic harmonious one.#like robin seems to kind of... not be able to understand that sometimes nihilism is the only way to survive and that it's a balance #survival is good but hard to break out of... you need to survive enough to be ABLE to live. she seems to idealize living in opposition to it #whereas sunday is like. there are people who can ONLY survive. sometimes living isn't an option because the world is cruel and we don't all #get that choice. sometimes surviving is all you can do. why not embrace that? why not build a place where people can postpone death?#if fulfillment isn't possible... then why not accept placation even if it is a poison to the soul? surely joyful prison is better than death #if all that awaits in the world is suffering then why not let the bird live the rest of its days in its cage... even if it is unfulfilling?#HE'S SO .
