I know that Neil said that if prime didn't pick up Good Omens for a 3rd season, he'd still put out the remaining story in a different medium, which would still be amazing, but I have become so attached to David as Crowley and Michael as Aziraphale and it would low-key destroy me to not get to see it unfold onscreen. Not to mention, as a long time queer media enthusiast, I've read lots of queer things because it's been nearly all we've had until now... I want to see them with my own eyes.

As someone who loves to enjoy and absorb my favorite media, Neil Gaiman wrote a beautiful season with amazing actors who portrayed that scene wonderfully. As someone who is gay and sad, I want to key his car.

404 ERROR BRAINCELL NOT FOUND
They froze as soon as he pulled back from it, looking dead at each other, close enough that Aziraphale could see his shock-wide eyes through his tinted lenses. “Nggk— yep. You remember how to get back here?” Suddenly breathless, like he must have left his voice all the way over there on Crowley’s cheek, Aziraphale nodded far too quickly and turned to leave the room. They really spent a lot of time pointing to the second coming for Apolaypse 2 electric boogaloo
Tumblr media
all 3 minisodes are about ... humans dying and being brought back to life, or more like, how that is not possible...and how Heaven and Hell have worked around that
In A Companion to Owls, Job kids never died even when they should have, Heaven didn't know enough to distinguish that they were the same children and Sitis quickly got that the miracle was... that their children didn't die to begin with. Once they are dead it is game over and Crowley and Aziraphale refused to let them die
In The Resurrectionists (it is literally called The Resurrectionists!!) and it is how one girl is shot and they can't do anything once she is dead. And Crowley still goes off of his way to make sure the other one doesn't kill herself, risking everything. And we know hell's extreme sanctions are probably what makes him ask for insurance, for holy water. On the other hand, this episode is called The ResurrectionistS, plural, but we meet only one of them ..while in the other side of the sign is Christ himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEN in 1941, we have ZOMBIES, the literal living dead walking around, and Furfur states that he can't make them living people again due to a clause and just leave them as zombies to roam the earth. We see how cursed they are, rotting and bound to eat brains but not human.
EVEN! From episode 1, we get a big Clue: miracles are measured in lazarii, and resurrecting someone is no easy feat. They were telling us to watch out about coming back to life... and how only the mightiest of archangels are able to use that amount of power (or an angel and a demon holding hands...)
and I do want to point out that part of the things Gabriel remembered was this line
Tumblr media
Job kids didn't die, in victorian england Wee Morag died falling in the hands of a resurrectionist, and the Germans died and came back- just not quite alive. Every day it is getting closer,
... they are telling us that the second coming is afoot, but they are also showing us that there is no second opportunity on this earth. Once you are dead, you are dead.
and Crowley, in the direst time when Aziraphale is breaking his little demonic heart, says
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, the plan to resurrect one human to make the end of the world happen is in Aziraphale's hands.

thoughts on fanfiction, perfectionism, and being enough
I'm pretty sure I'm ill and half-asleep and the Good Omens fandom has destroyed my last tenuous grasp on reality, but I am making a post anyway not knowing what I'm going to say. Because that's what this site is for, is it not?
*holds out hand* *waits for you to take it* Hey, you know, you're never going to be done. You're never going to look at something you made and think it's perfect. It's never going to be enough. It's okay to stop and it let it be imperfect. The earth didn't just birth life into just the right conditions, it made creatures which evolved and went extinct, ice ages which ended, volcanos that destroyed life and volcanos that preserved cities for millennia. It made jagged rocks that would be smoothened by rivers and stomachs that would hunger, rivers that would flood and rivers that would run dry.
Create imperfect things and give them to the world. Let the world create from it in turn in an endless cycle. Like Milton on the Bible, like BBC with Sherlock Holmes, like anyone writing fanfiction of their favourite show... Let your creation be imperfect, so you can see all the million ways in which people try to perfect it. All the million ways in which perfection can exist. That's the beauty of fandoms and fanworks. It keeps the creation evolving, keeps it breathing and alive. It becomes the work of a million people, and carries their stories with it in a little back pocket.
And maybe we were made to be imperfect too. Our hair tangles just to be brushed, our arm itches just to be scratches, our hand clenches just to be held and unclenched. There are odd shapes that make us up but they fit in with everyone else's, in handshakes, in bridal carries, in a parent lifting a child, a rescue worker lifting a victim, a girl kissing her wife, a child hugging his toy, a person holding their hands in prayer or in pain.
I'm trying to remind myself of that, because it's so easy to keep wanting more, to believe that there will be a point at which I will be satisfied with what I have done. Even in this fandom, I look at my ridiculous summaries I accidentally wound up making, and look at someone's beautiful meta blog and I feel like shrinking a little bit. But in real life, I'm a designer and an artist, a reader and poet and songwriter, and someone who has been a writer the past eight years, if not all my life. Have I done enough to qualify for any of these roles? Who knows? It shouldn't matter to me, and it shouldn't matter to you, whatever you love doing or are doing.
It will never be enough, you will never be enough for yourself. Can we try to make peace with that little gap in ourselves that acts like a vacuum to keep sucking in more and more effort and things? It'll never be filled. That's okay.
*squeezes your hand before letting go* Isn't it amazing how imperfect and fucked up we all are? Isn't it beautiful that we don't have to sit and stare at statues we cannot touch, but we get stone that we can keep carving all we like? That creation starts with imperfection? I don't know if I'm making sense anymore, the medications are kicking in and my eyes are closing. But I love all of you, everyone who is a maggot and everyone reading this post, too.
Take this *holds out a seashell* it's pretty and it's broken and the animal that made it his home changed it, the sea changed it, and I hope you change it, too. That's all.

No matter how many times I watch the final fifteen... I feel wrecked all over again. The way Aziraphale just barely wraps an arm around him with his left hand and the fingers of his right flutter over Crowley's shoulder, fighting the urge to hold him against him. His eyes falling shut and the almost imperceptible way he moves and lets Crowley pull him closer. The way his right hand hovers, the next time we see it, just above Crowley's back before he pulls away...
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Crowley with a white knuckle grip on his lapels and sweat on his brow. You can see him shaking. There's so much desperation and this air of futility, like one last ditch effort towards thwarting the apocalypse all over again.
Tumblr media
The bitter frustration in Crowley's voice when he says, "don't bother," probably more closed off to Aziraphale than he's ever been since they day they met. Yet, he still stands there and watches the only creature in the universe he's ever loved disappear into the grips of a fascistic bureaucracy that has not only mocked him for millennia but mere moments before was threatening to destroy him.
6,000 years. 6,000 years! He knew. He absolutely knew that Aziraphale loved him too. There was no doubt in his voice when he remarked on how they could always rely on each other and how they had denied themselves their relationship all of their existence. He just hoped that Aziraphale would have chosen their side instead and not ask him to change. It's all so goddamn heartbreaking.

I am so sad that we don't get "one episode per week" anymore.
Especially for shows like Good Omens. Can you imagine?? The end would have been so much heart breaking because we would have had way more time to enjoy the sweetness of the rest of the season.
I would have loved to exchange with everyone on each little details of each episode. Because there are so many awesome and wonderful scene and moments. Because we would have rewatch each episode so many times every week and have edits of those episode only... I miss it. We would have theorized about Jim's Box and the match box, and ineffable bureaucracy. We would have analysed each and every word of Crowley and Aziraphale just in the hope of catching a glimpse of what was to come next week.
I also think it is better for shows! Like you talk more about a show around you if the release last for more than a month and people are crazy about it.
So yeah I think streaming services are killing themselves with this format. You BUILD a community. You don't get it in a snap of the fingers in one week end. The rise of the pink ladies and EVERY GODDAMN SAPPHIC SHOW proved it.

you know what no it *is* fucked up that we have to watch the whole show (which has been condensed from tv-show length at 22-26 half-hour-to-three-quarters episodes to. This) in one day in order to give it the best chance at staying alive. it's fucked up that we can't enjoy it over time, it's fucked up that we can't just fucking relax a bit and enjoy some art. i watched all of good omens 2 this morning, and i wish i didn't feel like if i *didn't* do that, i was not only fucking up the show's chances of being renewed, but also its chances of *remaining on its platform* at all. i hate you streaming era i hate you metrics i hate you profiteering in art i hate you studio and streaming execs!! pay your fucking artists and archive their fucking work.
