Have you seen the queer baseball show? There are butches! On TV! And like good storytelling and everything. Teamy goodness! People trying to figure out how to be queer! Some of them together!
Anon I mean this in the kindest way possible but like. Yes. Oh my god, yes. I have blacklisted that show to avoid spoilers and my dash is a wall of invisible posts. I'm extremely aware that there is a new show that has lesbians and it's good.
I also have had just. A really garbage August. And I really want to watch the thing, but what I've found through COVID as a HCW is like. If I'm super overwhelmed by work + life commitments and I just force myself to watch the thing On Time because that's what everyone else is doing, I don't enjoy it as much. I know my life and my heart and I know when I'm ready to sit down and enjoy a new story. And when I let myself have the time and space that I need, I have so much more fun and enjoy the thing so much more.
I know it means that by the time I get around to it, the internet will have moved through 423094 different fandom cycles and the show will be Over. But also, rushing and rushing to consume the media just to spare myself from internet FOMO is honestly a terrible way to live. TV isn't an emergency. There are important IRL things that are time-sensitive that I am perfectly able to push myself to do, but in my downtime one of the greatest gifts I can give myself is moving slowly.
It's on my list. The gay pirate show is on my list. Finishing CR Campaign 3 so that i can prove to the internet that Im*dna is Superc*rp is on my list. I want to watch S2 of Picard and also the new Trek show with the butch pilot and also the RDM show about the sad lesbian astronaut president. I want to rewatch Legends from the beginning and I want to do a Buffy/Angel rewatch and I want to rewatch Supergirl S6 straight from the box set without the internet screaming about Supercorp not being canon the entire time. When I make the time, I'll be sure to share.

Supergirl Season 6 Thoughts
This is gonna have finale spoilers, so watch out if you're one of those people who didn't finish the season.
First off, some general, overall stuff: this season was too short. The pacing was off, and too many things happened offscreen. There wasn't enough time for everything to happen in a way that felt good. I particularly felt this with Lena's arc, but basically everything in the second half of the season felt that way.
The fact that a giant cat attack that lasted all of six minutes onscreen was a highlight for me explains a lot about my experience, I think. The best part of the season was the Midvale stuff(not just because I love Peter Sudarso) because it was actually paced okay and felt good. The characters were handled well, even Kenny(i thought he might show up in the present but no) and it actually wrapped up nicely without feeling incomplete.
Everything post Phantom Zone was... eeh. Nyxly was a good character, but I feel maybe for the final season a villain we already knew would have been better. Some people have suggested Brainiac, which I approve of, though one wonders if it would have been the one from the Krypton show. I'm not sure myself, maybe just Lex would have been good, but the fact is that there was no time in the second half of the season. Zero reprieve for characters or viewers. I missed seeing National City as a setting that the characters actually lived in.
Characters who got decent arcs were: Alex, Kelly, and Kara. J'onn was just sort of there, Nia's arc was ???, and don't even get me started on Brainy(he gets his own paragraph later). I do feel like Alex and Kelly's adoption and marriage was a good progression for them. They are very wholesome lesbians, but c'mon y'all this is the CW, the best we'll get is Nia yelling and wanting to murder(very good work Nicole). Not even touching Lena and Kara, they were fine. Just fine. I think Lena needs friends more than anything else. Nia was great this season but her arc was just so not. I mean I get that she wanted her mom, but they just glossed over that in season 5 so it felt really out of nowhere. She just seemed all over the place in season 6. Lena's arc was paced poorly, and while there's nothing wrong with magic, there hasn't been much precedent for it in Supergirl(except maybe in crossovers? idk) so same as above. I have no idea what to say about Kara revealing her identity. I guess she felt it was the right choice, but doesn't she realize what will happen? You've got enemies Kara, and they've already come after your friends, now they'll come after even more of them. I suppose it was meant as a conclusion to her ongoing identity crisis but man, literally anyone who's read the comics knows why superheroes have secret identities, especially the Superfam. This problem could have been solved the way I thought they were going to seasons ago, by having Kara go to the future to join the Legion, but that would have required a very different procession of events, for longer than just season 6. Do I mean KaraDox? Yeah, I guess, but I no longer care at this point. Supergirl is just a little disappointing, in general.
As for how they massacred my boy... Brainy's characterization and arc for the first part of the season were not bad. I feel like they gave up and just made him a joke character, but also tried to keep giving him depth? Most opportunities for deeper exploration were passed over in S6, including his relationship with Nia. They hardly spend any good time together in this season, and I'm expected to believe he said "sprock the timestream" for her? I barely believe it even if I can hear Jesse's voice in my head as I type. His end-of-season arc was just so random and poorly executed. Those sorts of things can only be meaningful if the character goes through with it! But they just said no, he's gonna come back without sacrificing himself actually. I'm also certain it was out of character for him. He'd rather Brainiac 5 die saving his planet, because then he's finally redeemed his family name, and there will be no more Brainiacs(presumably, in this universe). Do you agree, fellow Querl Dox syndrome havers? I think having him go and not come back, and showing him giving up his sense of self to the(so-called) Big Brain would have been a meaningful end for him.
*sigh* I've run out of steam, but this post is long enough. Thanks for reading.

Throwback to when I ranted to my friend about Lena and Raiden ei parallels, stupid cross fandoms rants are my thing (I haven’t even dropped the banger that is the idsmile supercorp rant) anyways yeah this is really banking on Lena’s s5 arc but so are like 80% of my thoughts on her
Firstly starting off with the typology parallels before moving on into the narrative, broader parallels.
So they’re both Intjs, with an 1 fix in their tritype (and also melancholic dominant and RLOXI) which plays a lot into how they behave and the thought processes behind their actions
But that’s meaningless bs to most people so narratively they both have done extremely similar things
1. ei following the death of her sister makoto decided to implement her idea of eternity, basically an unmoving stasis and locked herself in the plane of euthymia (completely withdrawing from the world to meditate for like 500 years lol), and began to lock down inazuma and enact the vision hunt decree to maintain her own idea of eternity (really she just became a tyrannical ruler), and ofc I’m going to be referencing Lena’s s5 arc with non nocere (obligatory s5 spoilers), following the reveal that is Kara is supergirl (brought upon the death of lex) , it could be viewed as a metaphorical death of Kara Danvers bc following that big fallout in s5e07, Lena never again refers to her as Kara, only supergirl
But the main point is her idea of non nocere to fix and reprogram humanity using q waves (ironically she also institutes a blank slate with the sole goal to enact their goal (basically Raiden shogun, hope parallels too ig)), while non nocere is presented more heavily under the guise of “for the greater good”, it’s still a deluded goal which Lena does terrible things to achieve (stealing myriad, kidnapping, a lot of deception, etc).
Tldr: ni-se, te-fi axis, deluded goal that would’ve have never worked out in the end but they both do terrible things to try and achieve it before realizing that it would never work
2. I can probably think of more but it’s been months since I did ei’s 2nd story quest 😓, just generally kinda similar based on virtues of typology
Oh and a big part of their growth is them moving forward from a huge loss in their life, Lena with her biological mother and her entire arc in s6 is basically to become her own person free from both the luthor name and her mom
Ei is with makoto and basically to move past her idea of a stasis eternity and with that a new future for inazuma is in bloom
Also they’re both in love with a certain lighter haired best friend

How Do I Tell You?
by intouandbeyond
After five long years by Kara’s side, Lena finally musters the courage to face her feelings head-on with a little (big) nudge from someone she never expected to meet.
OR
My take on how S6 could be redeemed with just one more episode, if only the writers only cared enough to do so.

**potential spoilers**
WAIT WAIT WAIT we already know that kara's not coming back in 6x04 because the 6x05 synopsis says explicitly that nia and brainy are attempting to save supergirl from the phantom zone. so unless she's gonna get pulled back in or some bs supercorp aren't looking at each other in Those 6x04 stills :((

why supergirl will end up alone (and why that’s a good thing)
So I’ve been thinking about “Come Running Home to You” by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, featured in The Flash episode “Duet.” And more generally, how WestAllen and Olicity would translate over to Supergirl.
“And I could see it / Right from the start / Right from the start”
WestAllen and Olicity both have a very strong sense of inevitability to them. Iris and Felicity are there from the very start of Barry’s and Oliver’s superhero stories respectively, and they are consistently present throughout their shows’ episodes (they’re part of the central, central cast). It was pretty clear from the beginning that Barry and Iris would end up together. As for Oliver and Felicity, it wasn’t immediately clear, but enough hints were present in season 1, and their potential romantic future became clear around season 2.
“That you would be / Be my light in the dark / Light in the dark”
Iris and Felicity represent safe places for Barry and Oliver to come home to after facing the darkest situations and villains. They support their heroes’ morality and restore hope when they need it most.
“You gave me no other choice / But to love you”
With no intention on anyone’s part, the two characters in each ship work together and grow closer until there’s no other choice except each other. It’s what makes WestAllen and Olicity great slow burn relationships.
At first glance, it seems like Kara doesn’t have someone like this. I posit that Kara’s Iris or Felicity is actually her sister, Alex. (Platonically, of course.) Like Iris, Alex came fully into Kara’s life when the Danverses adopted Kara after the traumatic death of her parents. Like Felicity, Alex started working with Kara for superhero reasons and quickly became her foremost resource and most trusted ally. Although Alex and Kara’s partnership started off begrudging, they gradually grew closer, and by season 2 (if not sooner), they were the most important people in each others’ lives—arguably even more important than their respective love interests at the time.
Kara is the first person (other than Maggie) Alex comes out to. Alex is the first person Kara hugs after getting out of the Phantom Zone. Their shared history and love transcends even a memory wipe in season 4. They are always there for each other with couch scenes, takeout, and more.
So, I think Kara ending up in a serious romantic relationship with someone would undermine this, especially since nobody else in her life fits nearly as well. I can see an ending to Supergirl where Kara and her family are in her loft, enjoying food, etc. (brain is done working for today). A family-oriented endgame would match up best with the trademark Arrowverse relationship and also be the most satisfying imo.
