3 6 9 13 15 21 for fic relationship ask game
3. Have you ever written a soulmate AU? If you haven't, why would/wouldn't you write one?
The closest thing to this I've ever written was probably Aang joking about Lin and Tenzin being the same soul split into two bodies in Gone, Not Forgotten which was really just his monk way of saying they were two peas in a pod.
I haven't written any specific soulmate stories mostly because I just personally don't believe in soulmates lol. It's a very sweet fic genre tho. 6. Have you ever started to write a relationship and had it develop differently than you expected? How so? LOL I would say actually writing platonic linzin almost always veers into romantic territory without my consent, but I can usually rein it back in. Otherwise, Lin and Kazuo would fit the bill here. He was really intended to be a one-off character in a onshot story, but he wouldn't leave me alone and now he has his own backstory and a handful of other OCs that sprung up around him.
9. When you write, do you plan out the stages of a relationship, or just let it flow? Do you have any works where the characters seem to "write themselves"?
It depends. I usually make a loose outline if it's a multi-chapter fic. If it's a oneshot I just write and see where it takes me. As for characters writing themselves I think I have the easiest time writing Toph because they did such a good job developing her in ATLA I can hear her dialogue clearly without putting in any effort. She's by far the easiest character to write. This would go for any fic she's in, really.
13. Are there any consistent trends when you write a budding relationship, or does it vary by character? If there are trends, what are they?
I think it varies by relationship- for instance when I write Lin and Tenzin's early stages in Push & Pull it's extremely different from Lin and Kazuo in The Rebound or Spirit of Change. Even though Lin is part of both, she's a different age and carrying around a lot more history later in life so I think the development is completely different. If y'all see trends in my writing I'd love to know because I don't see them!
15. Are there any relationship dynamics/tropes you would never write?
Never say never! I'm open to anything that catches my interest.
21. Not all relationships are romantic. What's your favorite non-romantic relationship that you've written about?
My favorite non-romantic relationship I've written in fic is without a doubt Lin and Toph. I'm so obsessed with their dynamic.
Ask me anything!

Greed!Hawks AU pt. 2
Note: I forgot about this until now that I read some dabihawks fics. Some things may have changed.
Greed didn't ask to join the LoV, he decided to become more of a friendly neutral "ally" with them. Even if he asked to join them, it was creepy not having anything from his origins, someone must know of this mutant man or something... but there is nothing. It's void.
He doesn't say mucha bout himself other than having a complicated background and one hell of a family, which I will later add in some HC.
In the meantime, Hawks is having two lives, as a hero with a sense of duty and happier persona, as well, as an ancient being named Greed, with more human-like emotions and someone being freer than he has even being in his most recent 20 years of life! He tries to get some information from the LoV, but he takes his sweet time as Greed as he builds their trust with them.
Thing that he gains when the LoV encounters the mafia woth Overhaul and just when things were going to get ugly and he attacks Magne, Greed is there to put himself as a barrier and while the quirk on him doesn't work at first glance he is more attacked until he is close to dying... but making sure that the LoV team got out of there safely.
He gets away from there in another direction and meets Eli, who is the first one who gets Eli out and supposedly leaves her in a safer place... which he couldn't accompany her since he was being chased out, but because of that, Eli meets Midoriya.
When Greed goes back to the main base in one piece, everyone, or almost everyone is glad to see him and try to patch him up... despite him being already healed. He appreciates the sentiment tho.
After that, they are closer to him and vice-versa.
He can see them now as more than villains, their motivations and ambitions, some not as noble as others, but as hurt people who is hating the world because the world hated them. He can relate to that as Greed back before he was the representation of the ambition of that old man, and how he wished to belong, only to be faced by the fact that he would never be human and accepting it.
When he thinks of the past which is a little more often, he misses his friends, even the little pea of Edward, and his soulmate and friend, Ling. He tried to find more information about his legacy and kingdom in old books, which ended up being one of the largest empires in China, he lived a long life before he succumbed to an illness... nothing much of him or even Edward or Amestris is documented, it haunts him, even if he denies it, he wishes to meet them... he would be satisfied by that.
The LoV notices that but don't know how to help him other than maybe distract him with some bs or something, since he still is a secretive fucker.
It's not until the LoV, after the attack woth Overhaul, that they meet one of the most dangerous people in the Chinese mafia, and it's none other than a young Ling, who scheduled a meeting Ina wah to analyze if the LoV was worth it.
Ling does meet Greed again, in the most tense place... the meeting. You see, Greed can become obnoxious when he is bored and wouldn't give a shit about manners (he would do as Hawks....when he is being watched) and casually enters the meeting room and when is about to be attacked by guns, everyone froze as Ling, the leader of the Chinese mafia and Greed murmur their names and Ling throws himself towards Greed in a ferocious bear hug, leaving everyone confused af.
Ling, after.crying of happiness of seeing his soulmate being alive and kicking he tears him.a new one about his last.sacrifice and how it broke him for years. In that rant, the league learns some incredulous things about Greed. (I'll add more details later)
That's all I can give for now, I'll write more.tomorrow... it's too late and I'm half asleep.rn

Sweet Pea/Fangs/Toni/Reader - 🐻 - Soulmate Scene!!!
Support My Writing?
🐻-Soulmate Au Scene
Everyone had a symbol; it was how you found your soulmate; once you’d met it would reveal to be their name.
When you joined up with the Serpents you expected it to be an easy way to find your soulmate; your symbol was a snake after all. Even if there were at least ten members your age; you knew being introduced tot hem after the Serpent Dance was the easiest way to find your soulmate.
You were half right; your symbol changed the day you joined; but it revealed three names.
“Well fuck.” You grumble under your breath and hope none of them have noticed; but they’re all smirking at you and you try your best to glare.
“Y/N don’t be so stressed; we’re all soulmates; we all had different symbols for each other; plus we had one the same; a snake; for you. Now that we’ve met you; well it’s gone.”
“So we’re all four soulmates??”
“Yeah, that’s actually pretty common; well I mean this is Riverdale, murder is common.” Toni shrugs and you expect her to laugh at the joke she’s made; she doesn’t and Fangs is already starting to fill you in.

This Better Work Part 7
Sweet Pea X OC
Summery; Hey guys, not sure how well this is going to go but I originally put it on Wattpad so its way long, but hopefully its not horrendous. Let me know what you think! So, it follows the story line kind of, it’s not exact but I have tried and it follows my OC Ali as she navigates through the hell that is Riverdale. Whilst struggling with financial, social and romantic difficulties, she has the added pressure of keeping up with school work and bonus of being thrown into the frightening world of the criminal underground.
Side Note; None of the gifs or pictures I use are mine, I’m not talented or smart enough to even begin an attempt at making my own. Thank you to those who have such abilities and if you don’t want me using them then please let me know so I can remove them for you.
Word Count;
"Hey Ali! Ali Cat! Why the hell are you siding with the Southside scumbags?" Reggie bellowed down the corridor at Ali as she threw her unneeded Chemistry and Geography books in her locker.
"Really Reggie?" She questioned sternly, slamming her locker and spinning to face the jumped-up Bulldog. Being met by the whole squad, her arms folded as her eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Are you serious? You got the whole damn squad out just to confront me about a HOODIE? A FUCKING HOODIE REGINALD? I'm not taking anyone’s side. I'm just trying to keep the peace. Something you clearly aren't capable of!" Ali bellowed. How dare he challenge me!
"You need to get your affairs in order and get your head out of your arse, IT'S NOT A HAT!" Ali warned before slamming past him cutting through the see of Jocks.
"I'm not the one wearing their clothes. That hoodie warm is it? Looks more like a snake skin if you ask me." He spat stopping Ali dead in her tracks. Her bag dropping to the ground as the last string of her temper snapped. She spun quickly on her heels storming back down the corridor towards Reggie. Her hand reached out grabbing his throat. Slamming him against the lockers.
"Yes. Its very warm. But so is the River Vixens t-shirt underneath." Ali growled through gritted teeth. Her faces inches from his.
"I live on the border so I'm neither one nor the other. I'm Both! Remember that before you open your mouth next time." Ali snarled. Her fingers curling round Reggies throat increasing the fear and disgust in his eyes.
However, this didn't last long. A pair of strong arms wrapped around Ali's waist heaving her up and pulling her away from Reggie.
"Settle down Ali Cat you nearly got yourself expelled." Jughead cautioned as he placed her on one of the sofas in the common room. All eyes on her. Betty and Toni arrived seconds later carrying Ali's bag.
"Damn girl that was bad ass!" Toni exclaimed with an impressed smirk as she slumped besides Ali on the sofa. Ignoring the warning glare Jughead shot her.
“Don’t encourage her.” Jughead groaned.
Tumblr media
"I leave you alone for one minute and THIS is what you do?" Ali smirked handing Sweet Pea a beer before kneeling beside him to look at the boiler he had just stripped. He looked over at her with a boyish grin plastered across his face, before taking a large swig of his drink. Turning back to the boiler pieces scattered in front of them.
"I had to see what was broken. I know where it all goes. I'm not an idiot!" Sweet Pea replied nonchalantly, a cocky twinkle in his eyes.
"Besides who are you to judge me? I'm not the one that nearly got myself kicked out for standing up for a bunch of actual gang members." He smirked shoving Ali's arm lightly. He loved spending the weekends helping her around the garage and fixing up her old run-down house. She made him laugh and he swore whenever he was around her, he felt as if his luck would change forever. But that was him. He knew there was no way she would feel the same way. They were friends. End of.
"You too good to say gangsters now?" Ali teased, her usually bright smile was brighter than ever and this time, it was real.
"You know you've taken this apart only to find the whole damn thing needs replacing. Right?" She asked after a moments glance over the corroded parts.
"Yeah I know." Sweet Pea sighed. Knowing full well that this meant Ali and her family going without heating.
"I'll think of something Ali Cat. Hey if worse comes to worst my caravan is always warm and I have room for three more." He smiled sympathetically. His words making Ali chuckle for a moment before she fell silent. Her eyes trained on the parts in front of her as if they would run away if she blinked.
"Hey, Princess. It's going to be ok." Sweet Pea soothed, turning Ali's face to look directly at him.
Her eyes welled with tears. For the first time ever, her guard was down. Her walls had fallen. There was no longer the endless reals of hope and joy that once resided in her eyes. Her bright, contagious smile had faded and all that was left was the fear and misery she had always hidden so well. Sweet Pea's heart broke at the sight of her feeling so vulnerable. Before he knew it he had wrapped her up in an enormous, warm bear hug. His chin resting on top of her head. His hand wrapped in her hair whilst the other pulled her deeper into the hug. He could feel the tears soaking through his t-shirt and onto his skin. They sat there for a moment. But when Ali pulled away her bright shining smile was back, her eyes filled with false happiness as she looked up at him.
"With all do respect Sweet Pea. You barely fit in that caravan. How would we ever fit around your giant ass." She replied, the thick sassy sarcasm flooding her voice like nothing had happened. Ali felt a rogue tear fall down her rosy cheek. Swiping it away with her finger tips, staring at it a moment before flicking it away.
"Ugh gross I'm leaking. Think its time for my M.O.T." She complained.
"Want a cup of tea?" She offered making her way to the kitchen before Sweet Pea had a chance to reply.
Good job Ali. Cry in front of everyone like a fucking wimp. Good one dick head. Ali scolded herself, pottering around the kitchen for Tea and mugs.
"You know you don't have to be like that Ali. It's ok to cry." Sweet Pea soothed from the doorway.
"Why because I'm a girl? Because that's what girls do? I have nothing to be sad about. I have a roof over my head, amazing friends, a loving family and I'm a jack of all trades." Ali snapped. Who was he to say she was allowed to cry?
"My tears are pointless and selfish. There are people in the world with far less than me so why should I allow myself to cry?" She continued, her words taking Sweet Pea back a step.
"Ali I was just trying to help. No one, male or female should have to be an emotionless robot. Its ok to feel." He reasoned, trying to defuse the situation.
"So, NOW I’m an emotionless robot. Oh gee thanks Sweet Pea. I feel much better now!" Ali thundered, her eyes flooding with red mist as she glared aggressively at Sweet Pea.
"You should go." She growled.
"I was just trying to help! You were sad so I tried to comfort you! How am I the bad guy?" Sweet Pea retaliated. Arms flailing angrily as he spoke. But Ali was a stone-cold bitch, it would take more than that to persuade her.
"I DIDN'T FUCKING ASK FOR YOUR HELP THOUGH DID I SWEET PEA?! I TOLD YOU BEFORE I DIDN’T NEED A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR THEN AND I SURE AS HELL DON’T NEED ONE NOW SO GET THE FUCK OUT! DON’T STAY WHERE YOU CLEARLY AREN’T WANTED!" Ali roared, her vocal cords screaming at her in pain with every syllable.
"Wow." Sweet Pea stepped back, his word quiet and upset. His heart crumbling to the floor at her last words.
"You're right. I don’t know why I bothered helping such a pompous, stuck up Northsider anyway." He snapped before spinning sharply on his heels and strutting out the house. Slamming the front door in frustration as he went.
Tumblr media
"I mean, what a wanker! Can you believe the balls on that over-sized shoe lace?!" Ali ranted. She had been ranting to Cheryl for the last hour whilst they all made cookies for the local homeless shelter.
"I told you Ali. Serpents are the scourge of Riverdale." Cheryl stated putting the last batch of cookies in the oven.
"Oh yeah? That including Topaz?" Ali smirked raising an inquisitive eyebrow. She had seen the two girls eyeing each other up all week at school.
"Pffft please. She's Queen of the hobos". Cheryl snorted turning her face away from Ali so she wouldn't see how badly she was lying.
"Really? That's not what your eyes have been saying." Ali teased knowing full well what was going on in her best friends head. "You've been giving her your come to bed eyes all week."
Ali's phone went off before she had a chance to reply. The song Sharp-dressed Man playing loudly from her jet black, well armoured Iphone.
"What the fuck does Hiram Lodge want?" Ali mumbled wiping her hands before picking up her phone.
"Hello Mr. Lodge, how can I help?" She answered politely.
"Ah Ali. I was wondering if you could do me a small favour? Unfortunately, I cant ask anyone else to do it as I cant have anyone catching word of this. Is that understood?" He asked carefully. He was up to something and since Ali needed the money, he knew she'd do it no questions asked.
"Of-course Mr. Lodge. I'll come round later to discuss this in further detail. Shall we say 6pm at the Pembroke?" Ali replied. It wasn’t the first time she'd done something under the radar like this for the Lodges. She knew the drill.
"Perfect. I'll see you then. Oh and Ali, it is my understanding that you are in need of a new boiler. Is that correct?" He quickly stopped her before she hung up.
"Um. Yes Mr. Lodge, may I ask why?" Ali questioned curiously. "I'm sending a boiler round tomorrow. Someone will be there to fit it in at 11 o’clock sharp." He answered happily before hanging up.
"What was that all about?" Cheryl pondered, watching Ali jot something down on her phone.
"Hiram Lodge has a job for me and he's paying me with a boiler." Ali puzzled staring at her phone.
"That's not weird at all." Cheryl commented just as her phone began buzzing like crazy.
"Oh my god what is with people today." She muttered grabbing her phone. "Yes, dear cousin."
"Cheryl hi, I was wondering if you and Ali fancied going dancing at the White Wyrm tonight? I don’t want to go on my own." Betty responded sheepishly.
"Ali, want to go out dancing at the Wyrm tonight? Betty has something going on there." Cheryl muttered to Ali, her phone pressed to her chest muffling their voices.
"Yeah I'm down providing we're drinking. I should be finished by about 7 so I'll come back here, and we can all get ready and eat at mine." Ali agreed, she needed a release.
"Be at Ali's for 7 we can get ready here. Toodles." Cheryl instructed before hanging up.
"Ready to get the last batch of cookies out and hit the road?" She asked, skipping over to the oven when Ali nodded, her eyebrows still knitted in concern.
"I'll grab the containers for them." Ali muttered disappearing to the storage room by the bathroom.

Hey so can you do a soulmate au for like sweet pea x reader where you have one piece of hair thats your soulmates (for example if your soulmates hair is blonde you have a strip of blonde hair) and vice versa
Thank you for this, I really like this idea! Esp that it’s not given 100% who your soulmate is, really cool and original! Anyways:
I think Sweets would be the kind of guy to pretend he wasn’t obsessed with finding his soulmate, when he reeeaaally is
He would always keep an eye out for anyone who had the right hair color
Always randomly trying to find someone who matched his hair
The few who did wasn’t at all his type tho, and after a while he looses hope
When he meets you, you have your hair dyed
He tries for so long to find the stripe in your hair without asking
Because he falls for you
So hard, and he’s so sad when he can’t find any black in your hair
But he tries to play it off
And, right now you don’t match the stripe in his hair either
But then, you mention dying your hair
And he’s so exited
But also nervous
He ends up just asking, and you tell him you never knew because the stripe was in the way back and you were always to nervous to find out so you dyed it
You end up kissing anyway and admit your feelings fo each other
You end up not checking for years, because you know in your hearts that you’re in love and that you’re meant for each other
The night after your wedding you finally wash all the dye out to see
Ofc you match, and you’re so relived, now knowing how much it meant to him al those years
He cries a bit when he sees, but pretend not to care lol, dork

A Kiss with a Fist - Part 1
A/N: Hi lovelies! Having got such good feedback from the teaser I posted about a week ago, I’ve decided to write this as an actual fic. I don’t know how frequently I’ll be able to update it, hopefully around once (maybe even twice) a week. It is the only thing I’m working on at the moment but I have work and uni etc to do too, so we shall see. I really hope you enjoy this part as much as the teaser! Let me know if you want to be added to the taglist :)
Taglist: @vibesense @poolpartyingwithjaws @southsidesweetheart @superhalsteads @xsuperhero-expertx @southside-proud
Word count: 2,982 words
Warnings: swearing (probably), mentions of violence, slow burn (for those who don’t like that), nothing much else
(Y/N) dragged her thumb across the old scars on her hands, contemplating the ‘how’s and the ‘why’s of their existence. She had always been told that if you were one of the people in the world lucky enough to have a soulmate that you were connected to them in some way, whether it was not seeing colour until you had seen them, their name or a key characteristic being printed on your body somewhere, somehow being able to hear their thoughts in your mind. She had always thought it sounded wonderful, the idea of the world suddenly opening up with a burst of colour the first time your eyes meet theirs, bumping into someone in the middle of the night and seeing your name on their body in the exact same place as their name is on yours, hearing their thoughts get louder and louder as you get closer and closer to them until with a crescendo they stop when you touch. So many romantic stories had been passed around over the years, so many people in the world around her ready to tell exactly how they met their soulmate and how they knew they were the one.
While she was lucky enough to have a soulmate, she was unlucky enough to have one of the rarer connections to them- when they scarred, she scarred; when they hurt, she hurt; when they got some god-awful tattoo of an angry looking two-headed snake in the shape of an ‘S’ permanently marked into the skin on their neck (of all places!), so did she- the scar of it at least anyway and the weird vibrating sensation of the non-existent needle going through her skin. Her hands were the worst, which is why she so regularly found herself staring at them in horror, as they gained more and more cuts, bruises and scars. She was sure that even other people who shared the same type of connection with their soulmate didn’t see it affect their day to day lives- the odd bruise here and there when their soulmate walked into the corner of a lab table or when they missed catching a ball in gym class. Her soulmate, however, was basically a human punching bag and she regularly paid the price and spent the time having to cover up bruises that weren’t ever hers. Sometimes she wondered whether or not they, her soulmate that is, knew that their actions affected her too and if on the rare occasion that she tripped up over her own feet and grazed her palms or bruised her knees that they even noticed the bruises weren’t theirs.
The most recent additions to her body was heavy bruising on her knuckles, those of her middle and index fingers were split- it looked like she had spent the previous evening throwing her fists against a wall- there was a gash across her right hand that appeared to be more of a burn than a cut, like she’d been sliced with a hot blade, her eye was aching and although it hadn’t started to discolour yet, she knew it’d be black and swollen by the evening. She had a long time and a long journey ahead of her to think about how much longer she was going to have to deal with the damage being unwillingly inflicted on her.
(Y/N) and her mother were moving from their lovely home in California to her mother’s hometown of Riverdale, they were moving because her parents had finally got a divorce- she had found it hard to believe they actually liked each other over the past few years let alone the fact they were supposedly soulmates. She guessed that even the relationships with the person who was perfect for you, who was made for you, the person you were meant to meet and be with could have an expiration date if the universe didn’t think they were meant to be for forever. Living with them for the last year or so of their relationship before the divorce had been awful, constant arguments, raised voices, harsh words- if they weren’t saying something awful to each other then they were giving each other the silent treatment, either way they weren’t paying as much attention to their daughter and what was going on in her life as they should be.
(Y/N)’s life hadn’t been great in school either for the past few years and she couldn’t imagine moving during her last year was going to do much in the way of improving it. Before she had turned 12 her life had been pretty much perfect, she was popular in school, she was top of her class, she was on the debate team, she ran a blog, she was a cheerleader, she had friends- almost anything she could think of she had it, except a soulmate. She had wished and wished on every eyelash, on every birthday candle, on every single shooting star that she would have a soulmate, just like her mum and dad, that she’d get her connection and meet them; they’d fall in love and get married and have a life together- 6 years later, she felt like she should have been more careful about what she had wished for.
During the summer holiday while she was 12 her wishes came true, she had been cycling down the street on the way home from going to the mall with some friends when she felt it. Something invisible had hit her in the stomach, she hadn’t thought much of the pain assuming she’d just imagined it until she felt it again in the cheek, it was as if someone had punched her, but no one was there to have done so. The next day she woke up with bruises on her stomach and face, her knuckles were raw and looked as if they’d been split open- something she would eventually grow accustomed to. When she had gone downstairs her mother had gone into full on panic mode, asking her what had happened, who was bullying her, did she need to phone the school, how she thought her daughter was one of those popular kids; it had taken a lot of convincing that nothing of the sort was happening and that she was just as confused about it all as her mother. Eventually they concluded that this must have been her connection to her soulmate and for a while she was excited, until she went back to school.
Her friends didn’t believe that her connection to her soulmate was through pain, those who had their connections had things like their soulmates name tattooed on their body in the first place their soulmate would touch (like her mother did), others could only see in black, white and the colour of their soulmates aura and would gain the full colour spectrum back when they met their other half, some could hear their soulmate in their head- all of their connections were subtle or private, they were sweet and romantic, how one would expect your connection to the person who was made for you would be but hers was not. Eventually her friends all drifted away from her one by one, no one wanted to be seen with the girl who looked like she was constantly getting into gang fights, as time went on she dropped her extracurriculars starting with cheerleading because she was constantly being told she ‘didn’t give off the right image to be a cheerleader’ until the only thing that really remained of her old self was the fact that she was the top of her class in everything.
In reality, as she thought back on her life in her hometown, she knew there was nothing worth staying for. She and her mother could use a fresh start, she could finish her education in a new school and think about applying for college, maybe she’d make some friends, find some new hobbies, she might even finally meet her soulmate. She just wanted to start again, she wanted not to be known as the weird kid who is always getting into fights and then lying about the fact that she has a soulmate connection to cover it up, maybe people would actually get to know the real her and she would just be (Y/N) the new girl in town. She imagined all of the possibilities for her new life as her and her mother road tripped across the country in their old Jeep, they’d had decided to leave the majority of the possessions behind, those that they had packed up into boxes were already in the process of being shipped to their new house and would hopefully get there at a similar time to when her and her mother were picking up the keys to their new home- it was just the two of them, a backpack each full of clothes, mix tapes they’d made throughout (Y/N)’s life and their positive mentalities as they visited the wonders of every state between California and New York. This was the journey to their new, hopefully better, life.
***
As Sweet Pea pulled up to the rundown building on his bike and switched off the engine he thought about the previous night’s events, the Ghoulies were getting more and more daring with their actions, they were becoming more willing to attack and less willing to back down, they were making it harder for him and his friends to stay out of trouble and stop contributing to their already diminishing reputation within the community. It was never the Ghoulies who were blamed for the atrocities committed on the Southside of Sweetwater River but him and his family, his gang were considered to be the bane of the town and the Northsiders would give anything to rid Riverdale of the Southside Serpents- especially certain families. As he flipped the key in the bike’s ignition, switching the roaring engine off with a choke, and removed his helmet he could feel the heavy, aching pains in his knuckles and the sting of a growing black eye. He removed his gloves, revealing his bandaged right hand, underneath the bandage was a deep tear in his skin from where one of the other gang members had come at him with a hot blade- a dagger of sorts or maybe even a letter opener (either way, it was a particularly low move even for a Ghoulie)- they only got his hand with it before he’d tackled them to the ground and they’d completely lost their handle on the knife like object, he couldn’t imagine it would have stayed hot for much longer anyway, not hot enough to burn at least.
He tried to stop himself thinking about the previous night’s events as he opened the door to what could only be described as a bar in the most primitive sense of the word, as in it had a bar and sold alcoholic beverages and had a jukebox that played old-style rock music at the whim of any patron willing enough to pay the quarter the machine asked for; in every other sense it was the kind of place that put ‘dive’ in the term ‘dive bar’, yet he and his companions found themselves coming back to the place on an almost nightly basis. It was their headquarters, their (well-guarded, badly armed) fortress, their territory and no one was going to take it away from them even if it was an almost literal shit-hole.
He pulled on one of the double doors, to anyone who had never been to the bar before it would have looked like he was trying to yank the door off its hinges, he knew that to get the door to open without dragging across the wet concrete foundations and making a piercing, shriek-like noise that you had to pull it up towards the top left corner of the doorframe and pull the door harshly towards you before pushing it open and entering. The positive aspect of having a front door that was so difficult to open correctly was that the occupants were always aware when someone was entering the bar who they may not be expecting- an opposing gang member, a Northsider or maybe even a lost girl who was new to town and had no idea what sort of place she was entering in the hopes of finding help.
Sweet Pea followed the same routine as he always did upon entering the dark bar- it was full of people, some he knew personally, most he had at least seen around most of his life, a few younger, newer members or initiates who were still too excitable for his tastes- he headed to straight to the bar hoping his friend was working tonight, she was a petite girl so the fact that he didn’t initially see her didn’t mean she wasn’t there. Once he reached the worn wooden slab he leant on it, elbows turned out, hands tapping out a nervous rhythm on the wooden countertop. Once he caught the attention of one of the bar staff who was too tall to be who he was looking for, let alone too male, he tried to talk to him over the noise of the heavy music being blasted through the speakers, “Is Tones working?” he near shouted at the guy who just shrugged and went back to wiping down the bar. He shrugged before tapping the bartender on the shoulder the movement of which made his bruised knuckles ache. “I’ll take a beer and I wanna know if Toni’s here?” he gritted his teeth, knowing he shouldn’t get as angry as he was getting over something that was probably just a misunderstanding. The guy behind the bar nodded, pulling a bottle out of the fridge below the bar and popping it open as he handed it over he nodded over to the arcade machines in the corner, “She’s not working tonight, I saw her with Jones earlier. Ask Fangs.”
Sweet Pea slapped a note down on the bar, took his drink and headed over towards the pool table via the arcade machines to grab him other best friend. Fogarty, or as he preferred to be called ‘Fangs’ was, as always when he was alone, engrossed in a game of Mortal Kombat on one of the vintage games machines. He grabbed his friend by the back of the collar and dragged him away mid game with little force but as always Fang’s had something to say about it, “what the hell, man?” He kept walking towards the pool table, hoping there would still be a few people in this bar willing to challenge the pair despite their reputation of being unbeatable except by each other. Once they were there, Fangs let out a light chuckle and passed him a cue, as they both chalked up the ends of the cues Sweet Pea finally spoke. “Have you seen Topaz?” he was still bitter about the previous night, he wanted to spend time with his friends and forget it happened, he wanted Toni to tell him that he’d done the right thing and that he hadn’t gotten into a fight for no reason. Basically, he wanted his best friend to lie to him and lecture him about it so he knew she cared and they carry on with their evening like nothing had happened and nothing had been said about it. He wanted a normal evening. “Her and Jones are on their way, something about doing some last-minute work for the paper.” He rolled his eyes at his friend and lined his cue up with the white ball on the green felt table, ready to start his first game of the night.
He'd been feeling off lately, he wasn’t sure what it was, but he had this feeling in his gut that everything was about to change, he wasn’t sure whether it was going to be for the better or worse. Knowing his luck, it’d be for the worse. He knew he could talk to Fangs about anything and he really did want to talk to him about this but ever since he had been shot outside of the police station during the riots Sweet Pea had made sure to do everything in his power to keep his best friend out of trouble even if that meant not telling him the whole truth about what was going on in his life. He also knew that Fangs would make some comment about how this was clearly a sign that he was going to meet his soulmate soon and that he should be getting ready and start looking for them. Sweet Pea could not be bothered and did not have the energy to deal with Fangs’ wasted optimism about the whole soulmate subject and to be quite frank didn’t believe any of it was real in the first place. His hopes were that Toni would have taken it a bit more seriously because while she claims to have met her soulmate the day she met Cheryl, she was a lot les vocal about the concepts existence than Fangs who was determined to meet his as soon as he could. Sweet Pea would be happy to never meet his, if they even existed that is, he didn’t need extra baggage and he didn’t need another weakness that the Ghoulies could try to exploit, he didn’t need another person the leave him, like almost everyone else in his life had.
“Why do you want to see Toni so bad anyway?” Fangs asked as they played, Sweet Pea just grunted in response, as if to say ‘it doesn’t matter’ which in reality it did but he didn’t really feel like explaining himself twice, so he was going to wait until Toni and Jughead maybe showed up- so he just continued to play the game of pool.

Sweet Pea//lost & found
Request: Sweet pea x Fem! Reader. Soulmate au Everyone is born color blind and their sights are fixed once they meet their soulmate
hey! i really, really, really hope you enjoy this! i absolutely adored writing this because i just love a soulmate au! and i feel like i don’t get the opportunity to write them as much as i’d want to, so keep sending them in!
For Sweet Pea, it feels like he’s been waiting his whole life for this moment.
He stares at the grey sky, and his mind wanders over an invisible line and into very dangerous territory.
Hope
Because, he hopes by the end of the day he’ll be able to finally see the real colour of the sky, instead of a weirdly warped version that when he says out loud, earns him a few funny looks.
The feeling has slowly been worming it’s way into his heart, seeping into the cracks caused by all of the other times he’s allowed himself to believe. And now as he stares at the front door of the small, yet very expensive coffee shop he just hopes.
He hopes that this stupid idea is the start of wonderful. It’s the beginning of a story that he’ll go home and tell Toni and Fangs about, and then his kids, and his grandkids and the story will be passed on over the generations.
He knows that it’s not the worst thing to have, there’s a small handful of people in the world that can only see in grey until they meet their soulmate, and they have it a lot harder than the rest of the population who only mix colours up and see them as different shades to what they really are.
But it still doesn’t make him feel any less sad, as he see’s all of his friends happily in love. And deep down he knows that it’s not about the sky or the sea or the roses that Toni buys for Cheryl, it’s the fact that they’ve found the person that was made for them.
So he sits and scratches at the skin around his fingers, the cup of coffee cooling beside him, but he’s not sure he was gonna drink it anyway, his leg is already bouncing and he hasn’t even met the one yet, in fact there’s no sign of them and the hope that once filled his chest is now starting to turn into disappointment.
He frowns and checks his watch for probably the third time in thirty seconds.
It’s fine, he tries to tell himself, it’s only 15 minutes. Fangs is normally half an hour later to everything he goes to so maybe whoever he’s supposed to end up with is terrible at time management, and that only worries him more, because he loves Fangs, but he doesn’t think he could spend the rest of his life with him.
Speaking of Fangs, he glances at the dark haired boy who sits in the corner of the cafe, leaning against the wooden chair in an odd pose and looking out of the window every other second with the subtly of Fangs, well anywhere.
Fangs feels eyes on his and he looks back a his friend, giving him an awkward thumbs up and an unsure smile that he tries horribly to hide, before he goes back to staring intently out the window and unnerving every passerby.
Another ten minutes goes by and Sweet Pea’s hope is dwindling, he knew this stupid app was a waste of time. Ann from work swore by it, she insisted that it helped her niece find the one.
All he needed to do was pay a stupid amount of money to somebody with an obviously fake name, and in two days they would find you the one. And of course he was skeptical, but she kept bugging him about it until he could no longer go five minutes without her talking about it, and within two days he got a notification saying that the one was ‘on their way!’
Wherever they were, they were late. And Sweet Pea was starting to be pulled back into reality.
And the only thing he can think about now is the fact that he’s never listening to Ann ever again, and that also he’s just lost $150 that he could have spent on daring Fangs to do stupid shit and then being shouted at by Kevin.
He looks out of the window again, the rest of the world passing by and he wonders how many of them have found their soulmate. How many of them have someone to go home to tonight.
After another half an hour and several sympathetic looks from old lady’s passing by his table and patting his shoulder, he gives up. Realising that whoever the one is, he’s not going to meet in cafe ti amo, which is just a cruel name.
So he stands and leaves a few notes on the table before pushing his wallet back into his pocket. He sends a look to Fangs and watches as he sends him a sympathetic look before downing the rest of his coffee.
“Oh, hey...excuse me!” A gentle voice says and taps him on the shoulder. He sighs and then forces a fake smile before turning around to find...you. “I found this, I think it’s yours.” You smile and hold a black wallet out to him.
He looks between it and you before slowly taking it, and when your fingers brush he feels electricity run through his entire body. He locks eyes with you, and suddenly he feels like a new man. He can see the shades of green entwined into the curtains and how they stands out against the soft white of the wall.
And you look just as surprised as him, your lips parted and your eyes widened as you stare at him in complete and utter shock. A heat creeping up your cheeks that only gets hotter when you notice the red of his flannel shirt.
“Tha-ank you.” He stutters and takes the wallet from you. You smile at him, and mumble a small ‘you’re welcome’ before you drop his gaze, instead favouring to look at your shoes against the shiny floor.
A few seconds pass, and Sweet Pea takes a deep breath, his lips parting as he tries to figure out what to say next. The bell above the door rings, interrupting him before he can even get a chance to say something...anything, and the two of you shuffle out of the way it
He settles on the dark green of your jacket and finally he figures out what to say.
“It’s funny how you just...find things.”

request: Can I please request a Sweet Pea x sweet/innocent!fem!reader when soulmates meet, something important to themselves appears on their soulmate’s wrist as a tattoo. So since being a Serpent is so important to Sweet Pea, a Serpent tattoo appears on Y/n’s wrist, and since being loving is so important to Y/n, a heart would appear on Sweet Pea’s wrist. It would be especially cute if Y/n found out that she’s actually FP’s daughter/Jughead’s year younger sister (but was raised by her adoptive parents in the Northside and maybe FP didn’t know that he had another daughter because her birth mom never told him she was pregnant) because she has “Serpent blood” so it’s like it was fate.  Oooo also, I don’t know if this would be good to add to the plot, but it would also be interesting if Y/n’s adoptive parents told her she had to pick between them or FP & Jug, so an it’s us or them type of thing. Y/n picks FP, her birth dad, and her newfound older brother, Jughead, so she would go to live with them in the trailer.  — @kpopgirlbtssvt
summary: request covers this
word count: 2.4k words
warnings: rude parents?  adoption (idk if that’s something to trigger, but just to be safe).  being kicked out of home.  it’s also very possible that it’s ooc sweet pea BUT it’s fineeee
author’s notes: i wanted to clarify that it’s been like two years since i last saw the first season riverdale, so some things could be a little off.  the show is wack but i love the characters.  i also might have somewhat gone off from what the request was, and if i went off too much, just let me know and i will write something else!
Your friend quickly took her seat beside you, smiling.  "Did you hear?"
"Hear what?" you looked up from your book, slipping a piece of paper in between the old pages.
She let out a soft giggle.  "Well, uh, I know you don't really care, but everyone else is busy—"
"—is that why you're talking to me?"
"Oh my god, no," she blushed.  "No, sorry, that came out totally insensitive, didn't it?  I just... okay, well, they're closing down the southside."
Your eyes widened a bit.  "What?"
"Yeah.  They're gonna consolidate the schools.  So everyone from the southside will be coming up here.  They're supposed to start coming in today.  You should try to see if anyone is your soulmate," she grinned.
"Yeah, okay, but you've already found your soulmate," you sighed softly, standing up.  You had hardly touched your lunch at all.  From your book and the mention of your soulmate, you didn't want to touch it.  You wanted to meet your soulmate.  Oh, you wanted to love them like they deserved to be loved.  But here you were, finding it hard to believe that you had a soulmate.
Your friend just smiled.  "You know I love you, right?"
You rose an eyebrow but you soon returned the smile.  "Yeah, yeah.  I know."
She just smiled before she rushed off, gods only know where.
You stuffed your book back into your backpack, carrying your tray to empty it.  You needed to stop by your locker before your next class.
Walking out of the cafeteria, you started towards your lockers.  New faces filled the hallway the farther you walked.  You could feel the anxiety start creeping into your veins, but not because of the southside—you had began to wonder if you would find your soulmate from the people who transferred.
You sighed softly to yourself as you came to your locker—and you had even been prepared to get into it when you saw a man leaning up against it.  He was tall, his hair was dark, and he had gorgeous brown eyes.  He was talking to a short girl with streaked hair and another guy with equally dark hair.
You cleared your throat to get the tall guy's attention and your blush only darkened as he looked over at you.
"Would you mind moving?  You're on top of my locker..."
He stared at you for a moment before he nodded, pushing himself off from the locker.  But before he could move too far, a searing pain took over his wrist.  Just as quickly as it had came, it disappeared.  He quickly looked down at his wrist, only to realize that the same exact thing had happened to you.  And now, you were staring down at a serpent tattoo on your wrist, whereas a heart took its place on his own.
The girl with streaks in her hair was smiling.  "Uuhhhh," she grabbed a hold of the other boy.  "Have fun," she quickly said, before leading him away.
You blushed and looked up at the man.  "Uh—"
"—a northsider?" he asked, but he couldn't help his smile from forming.  He was about to tease you, but he couldn't help his happiness.  He finally found his soulmate.  "Do you know how much hell I'm gonna get for this?"
Your blush only darkened.  "I—I, well," you breathed out, but your own smile spread across your face.  "That's exciting.  I still need to get in my locker."  You were buzzing with happiness.  The boy moved out of the way and you quickly got into it, looking up at him.  He was far taller than you.  You couldn't help the grin that showed up.
"I'm Sweet Pea," he said.
You blushed.  "That's cute."  He rose his eyebrows.  "I mean—" you let out an awkward laugh.  "My name is [Your name]."
"It's nice to meet you, [Your name]," he blushed a bit.  He just smiled.  He would have said more, but his name was shouted from across the hallway.  He looked at you and bit his lip, before he suddenly grabbed your arm, taking a permanent marker from your locker.  He wrote down his number before he looked up at you and grinned.  "Text me, okay?"
You blushed and nodded, before you watched him leave.
[]
That night, you were too excited to tell your parents about your day.  You finally found your soulmate.  And he was totally attractive.  And worth your love.  You had decided this just moments after he grabbed your arm to write his number down.  It felt like the stars were aligned, just for you.  Perhaps that's what it felt like when you found your soulmate—like nothing could go wrong.
But as you walked in to your home, dropping your backpack to the floor, it was dead silent.  You walked into the dining room, seeing your parents sitting there with a couple of papers laying out.  Your mother was close to tears, but your father seemed angry.  He cleared his throat as he saw you.
"[Your name].  Sit."
You did as you were told, beginning to frown.  You looked at your mom.  "What's going on?"
"[Your name].  Remember how we told you we had adopted you?"
You looked at your dad and nodded.  "Of course.  But that doesn't matter... because you're both my parents.  What's this about?"
"Your mother."
You quickly looked at her, frowning.
"Your mother fabricated a couple of papers.  She wanted a baby so badly that she would lie about who you belonged to just so she could have you."
"What?"
"You belong to FP," your dad said, staring down your mother.  You always knew that your father didn't like southsiders, but this was odd.
"I don't belong to anyone, dad—"
"—don't," he said, frowning at you.  "Your mother decided that it was okay to adopt the child of a gang leader.  She put us in danger.  Your sister.  Your grandparents."
"What—they've never hurt anyone," you frowned at the man.  "Why would she have endangered them if they swear against violence like that—"
"—you'd be surprised," he snorted through his nose.  He clenched his jaws before he handed you the papers.  Before you could grab them, he just dropped them in front of you.  You picked one up, seeing your real birth certificate.  Your birth mother was listed, and then so was your birth father.  Your father was right—FP Jones was listed as your birth father.
Your face paled and you looked up at him.  "What is this?  What are you trying to tell me?"
"Choose."
"Excuse me?"
"Choose.  The Jones.  Or us."
You looked over at your mother in disbelief.  "What happens if I choose you?"
"We will forbid you from talking with the Jones."
You blinked a couple of times, confusion washing over you.  "But if they're my biological family, I'd like to know them—"
"—if that's the case," your father frowned, "just go and live with them."
You stared at him, feeling your heart beat rushing in your ears.  You quickly got to your feet.  Your mother wasn't defending you.  Your father was kicking you out.  It only took a few moments for you to decide that you would leave.  You quickly rushed to the front door, grabbing your bag.  But not before you had grabbed the papers your father had sat in front of you.  The proof was in the ink—literally.
You pulled your backpack onto your back, looking down at the papers as you pulled out your phone.
It had been literal years since you last talked to Jughead Jones.  You had his contact, still.  At least, the one he had whenever the two of you were friends in your seventh grade year.  You began to hope that the stars were aligned for you once more as you clicked on the contact and listened to it ringing.  By the fourth ring, you were prepared to turn your phone off, but you almost gasped as you heard Jughead's voice.
"Shh," you heard Jughead, before he said hello.
"Jughead?  Uh, it's [Your name]—"
"—yeah, I have your contact."
"Right," you blushed.  "I, uh," you cleared your throat.  "Do you mind if I swing by your house?  I need to talk to your dad."
You didn't mention the fact that you had just been kicked out of your home.  That could come at a later point in time.
Jughead blinked a couple of times and he leaned back in his seat.  "Yeah, of course.  When will you be here?"
"In about an hour," you said.
"Alright.  See you then?"
With that, he hung up.  He looked over at Sweet Pea, Fangs, and Toni.
"Who was that?" Sweet Pea asked.
"[Your name]."
[]
You hadn't anticipated the walk to Jughead's house, but you still remembered the way.  It had taken you the full hour to get there from your house.  But you were there.  As you walked up to the trailer, you noticed two motorcycles parked by Jughead's dad's truck.  You walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.  You probably looked a mess—from the walk and from the cold air, you were sure you were as red as the red lipstick you always had stuffed in the bottom of your book bag.
The door began to open and you quickly greeted Jughead, only stopping short when you realized Sweet Pea had answered.
He smiled at you.  "Hi."
You began to blush and you smiled.  "Hi..."
He moved out of the way and let you inside.  FP was in the living room, and he looked over at you, confused.
"What has it been?" he asked, beginning to smile.  "Three years?"
"Four, sir," you weakly smiled.
FP took notice and he tilted his head.  Sweet Pea frowned and led you over to sit down.  He looked at the papers in your hands as he sat on the edge of the armchair you sat on.  His eyes widened and he quickly looked over at Jughead and his father.
"I... I wanted to tell you about this.  I don't... do you remember a Julie Harding?"
FP blinked harshly before he nodded.  "Yes."
You took in a deep breath as you looked down at the papers.  "She's my birth mother."
Jughead looked at you with a frown.  "You were adopted?"
You nodded towards him and handed FP your papers.  He took one look at the birth certificate and he looked up at you in disbelief.  "Are you serious?"
You weakly smiled, once more.  "They kicked me out when they realized you were my birth dad."
Sweet Pea's jaw was locked as he looked at you.
FP frowned.  "Well.  You're always welcome here.  I...  I can't believe this," he said.  His frown soon formed into a smile.  "I have another daughter," he breathed out.
Jughead looked at the papers for a moment.  "We're siblings?"
"I guess so," you began to smile as well.
Sweet Pea watched you for a moment.  You were always filled with smiles.  You were always happy, even in moments like this.  It astounded him, but he knew that he needed that in his life.  He knew that the stars were truly aligned in just the right way.
He suddenly took a hold of your hand and you laced your fingers with his, blushing.  Sure, your parents hurt you.  But you took one look around the trailer and you realized that these people were the ones that you could truly make a family out of.
[]
Two months down the road, you were still asking Sweet Pea to move out of the way so you could get into your locker.  But instead of him staring at you the entire time, he would just kiss your cheek or your forehead, or even your lips, and move to stand on the other side.  Which side truly depended on his mood, just like where he kissed you.
Every time you would see Jughead, he would greet you with a smile and a short conversation, but when the two of you were with your new friends, you were truly yourself.  You found comfort in the serpents.  You found comfort in your biological family, and with your soulmate, Sweet Pea.
Sweet Pea stood by your locker, his arms crossed over his chest as he saw you walk down the hall.  He couldn't help his frown from turning into a smile.  Before you could ask him to move, he leaned forward to kiss your cheek.  He quickly took your books and stuffed them in your already opened locker—Toni had memorized your combination and he asked her to unlock it for him.
He took your hand.  "Come on.  I have a surprise for you."
You rose an eyebrow but you laced his fingers with his.  You tried to protest when you realized that he was about to lead you out of the school, but you stopped yourself.  FP wouldn't berate you for skipping a couple of classes.
Sweet Pea brought you over to his motorcycle and her turned to look at you, smiling.  "Wear this," he said, handing you his helmet.
You just blushed and did as you were told before you got onto the back of the sleek bike.  You wrapped your arms around his torso and he put on his helmet before he started his motorcycle and took off.  He drove fast, but not dangerously.  In a matter of minutes, the two of you were back at FP's trailer.  Sweet Pea helped you off and took a hold of both of your hands.
"What—"
"I don't have anything to show you.  I just... know that your birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to celebrate alone while we can."
You blushed and gently shoved his shoulder.
"Not that," he laughed.  "Get your mind out of the gutter.  Nah, I wanted to have a movie marathon with you, but if that's what you want—"
"—movie marathon," you blushed, taking a hold of his hand once more.  He smiled and led you into the trailer.
He stopped in the doorway to look at you, just taking in your beauty.  He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to your lips.
"Did I ever tell you how thankful I am that you're my soulmate?" he asked.
You just blushed and shook your head as he let out a soft laugh and hugged onto you.
Your soulmate acted tough in public—but around you and in private, he was a softy.  Your heart melted every time you saw him, and actions like this only strengthened your love for the man.  You wrapped your arms around his neck and smiled.
"I love you, Sweet Pea."
His eyes widened as he heard the words, but his smile never left him.
"I love you, too, [Your name]."

Love in Color
Tumblr media
Summary: You can only see color after you’ve touched your soulmate. You lived your life in greyscale until a certain Serpent brushes you with his fingertips.
Pairing: Sweet Pea x Reader
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2.1k+
Warnings: Mentions of drug use.
A/N: This was an anon request for a soulmate AU. Takes place during Season 2. It’s a little short and kind of just...ends. idk I may make a second part if people ask. I didn’t quite know where I wanted to go with this so yeah. Enjoy!
When you arrived at school that morning, you assumed everything would be normal. That is until you saw the line of motorcycles parked out back with a motley of beat up pickup trucks and sedans, most of which had some kind of snake identifier. You weren’t sure how you could have forgotten that the kids from Southside High had integrated into Riverdale while you were out with pneumonia. You’d been out a full week and had missed the grand entrance of leather jackets and switchblades.
That was probably for the better.
Now as you walked inside you felt nerves creep up your esophagus and sit heavily in your throat, making it feel tight. You didn’t have any prejudice against Southsiders, you just assumed they’d have prejudice against you. After all, it was the Northside that had their school shutdown in the first place.
The rumors of what went down at Southside High had flooded the halls shortly after it was announced that it was going to be shut down. The student body was filled with gangbangers. Violence and drugs were ingrained in the everyday life of the students. An hour didn’t go by where a fight didn’t break out.
Despite all of this, there was a small bud of curiosity blooming in your stomach. Would you find him now? Your soulmate? No one here at Riverdale High had made you see the brilliant colors that one only saw after they’d met their one and only. Even had sixteen life was set in its boring hues of grey. Your best friend had tried to describe color to you but they found it difficult to convey the emotion one felt when they could finally see the rainbow.
You were used to the blandness of the world. It was monotonous. Boring. But there was comfort in it. It was still fairly early to find ones soulmate. Most didn’t even see color until college. The thought made you groan inwardly. It could be years before you saw something new.
Once inside the school you noticed that everyone clung to their cliques. While this was pretty typical, the tightness the groups held were a little different. You were mostly a floater, never sticking to just one group. Your personality made you versatile and you got along with most everyone. It was nice for the most part and you weren’t involved in much drama.
At least, not yet.
You could see the mass of black leather jackets crowding around a cluster of lockers. Across their backs were the words Southside Serpents along with a grey double-headed snake that was hissing from both mouths. Your teeth met your lower lip in anticipation only to find that they completely ignored you. You walked by, breath hitched, but none so much as turned to look your way. It was a little disheartening to know that you weren’t even a blip on their radar.
As you turned your head to continue, eyes away from them, the tallest of the Serpents finally noticed the girl walking past. It was a face he hadn’t seen before, a beautiful face that looked forlorn and lonely. He wondered what had made her feel that way as she retreated into a classroom.
Fangs hit him on the arm to get his attention. Sweet Pea looked down at his friend before tuning back in to whatever Jughead was droning on about. It was going to be another long week here in the peppy school that despised their presence.
At lunch you took your lunchbox to your typical seat at an empty table. It was vacant as usual. Normally only you and whoever decided to stray from their packs sat with you. Oddly enough no one seemed to approach the table to join you. Maybe they thought you were still contagious or something.
You bit into your sandwich, reading over some notes from a class you had missed with a group of leather clad Southsiders sat down around you. Your eyes slowly moved up to see a particularly tall boy in front of you. “This is our table.” He said in a low and angry tone. You stared at him blankly before looking around to see others had sat down around you.
“That’s funny. I don’t see your name on it.” You quipped while pretending to search for a name etched onto the table.
The Serpent boy scowled at you. “Go run to your friends, princess.”
You opened your mouth to speak when Jughead walked up with his food. “Sweet Pea, leave her alone. Y/N, you don’t mind if we sit with you?” He asked and Sweet Pea shot him a look to portray the offense in Jughead’s question to her. This was their spot. Why was he asking her if they could be here?
You shrugged your shoulders, obviously not caring about their presence. “If you want. I don’t care.” You said flatly before giving the stranger that had spoken to you first a pointed look. He just huffed in response and started to eat, not wanting to say anything more.
This continued throughout the week and you began to learn more and even befriend the Serpents. Toni in particular was very sweet to you and you had quickly become almost inseparable. Fangs was pretty nice as well, always cracking jokes. The only one that seemed resistant to have anything to do with you was Sweet Pea, the one that gave you so much trouble on that first day during lunch. He would barely speak to you, ignoring you most of the time. At first it hurt, but now as you were so used to it, you just found it annoying.
“You should come to the quarry tonight, Y/N.” Toni said as she flicked back her long pink hair. “We’re having a bonfire. It’ll be fun! A few beers in us and we can all go swimming.” She turned to look at you, smiling brightly.
You thought about it for a moment before returning the smile, “Sure, Toni. I would love to come out. Will everyone be there?”
Toni smirked, “just the Serpents.” She said, “Maybe Betty too. She sometimes hangs out with us with Jughead. That’s okay, right? Not worried about being seen with a bunch of snakes, are you?”
A light laugh erupted from your chest, “You know I couldn’t care less about that. You guys are fun...well, most of you.” You shot a look towards Sweet Pea who was a few paces in front of you. He seemed to sense this and offered up a glare over his right shoulder.
“He’ll warm up to you eventually,” Toni whispered to her, “just give it some time. I promise he’s a big softy deep down.”
“I just have to get past the hard bastard coating, huh?” You teased, making her giggle.
She gave you a brief hug, “I’ll see you tonight then, text me!”
You grinned, hugging her back, “I will, bye Toni.”
That night you arrived at the quarry to see a large fire that appeared to be a bunch of different greys and whites. It offered plenty of light even though the sun had fallen about an hour before. You wore a black bikini top with a pair of cut off jean shorts, the black bottoms underneath in case you decided to go swimming. You weren’t sure how serious Toni had been when she mentioned it.
Fangs handed you a can of cheap beer when he saw you. You thanked him before popping the tab and taking a sip. You grimaced at the taste. It was pretty terrible but it would be worth it for the buzz it’d give you. You were pretty lightweight and after two and a half beers you’d been pretty tipsy. Toni said that made you a cheap date which always made you roll your eyes.
Sweet Pea was in a sleeveless flannel shirt and gym shorts. You had never noticed how large his biceps were as usually when you saw him he had long sleeves on. You swallowed hard at the sight, watching the muscles flex as he crushed a beer can while laughing with another Serpent. It was strange to see him laugh...nice almost.
He noticed you staring and flashed a devious smirk. A dark grey blush crossed the tops of your cheeks and you quickly looked away, embarrassed for having been caught ogling him like that. You never knew what to make of Sweet Pea. Toni said he’d warm up to you but he always seemed to callous. He acted like you were a thorn in his side.
Still the brawny Serpent was easy on the eyes so you suffered his presence whenever you were hanging out with Toni, Fangs, and Jughead. Most days he sat almost directly in front of you at lunch, glowering at the Northsider that had invaded the hearts of his brethren. Although, secretly, if he had to pick any Northsider to hang out with then it would be you. You didn’t treat them differently or look at them like they was scum. It was nice compared to most of the other students.
The sight of you in such little clothing piqued Sweet Pea’s interest. That and the heart-eyed look you’d been giving his muscles just a moment earlier. How cute you looked when you got embarrassed...He grabbed another can of beer before walking up to you, the same cocky look plastered onto his face.
“Y/L/N.” He said, looking you over with slow movements of his dark eyes. “Surprised you showed up. This place isn’t too dirty to you Northsiders?”
You dared to look up at him, face still flushed as you rolled your eyes at him. “I had my tetanus booster a few months ago, Sweet Pea, so I think I’ll survive.”
He opened his beer and chugged it, a look of disgust crossing your face at the weird display. Once finished he looked back down at you, flexing as he crushed the can and tossed it. He was obviously putting more effort into it then he needed you. “You seem to like it when I do that.”
A scoff left your lips, “please. I’ve just had too much to drink.” It was an excuse, of course, you were barely halfway through your first beer. You didn’t feel anything yet. Maybe he wouldn’t notice.
But this wasn’t Sweet Pea’s first, second, or even third beer. It was more like his sixth and he was definitely feeling it. He reached out and brushed the stray piece of hair that hand wandered across your face. The very tip of his index finger brushing your skin.
Color blossomed in your vision, the bright blue of his flannel, his eyes suddenly a deep brown instead of impossibly black. And the fire...the fire was probably the most beautiful thing you’d ever seen. Your breath clung to your throat as tears nearly spilled from your eyes at the sheer beauty of the world.
Sweet Pea was staring at you still, your face illuminated with color suddenly. He realized your bikini wasn’t black but a really deep purple. Well, he didn’t actually know the name of the color, just that it wasn’t black. The two of you stood dumbfounded at the revelation that you were soulmates, destined to be together until the end of time.
“It’s you…” You murmured softly as your eyes connected once again. There was a silence between you as Toni trotted up happily.
“Hey you two, I was just-” She stopped, seeing the foreign looks on each other’s faces. “What? What is it?”
The two looked at her, her once grey hair was now brown with bright pink streaks. “We’re…” You couldn’t even bring yourself to say it, the shock still evident on your face. “It’s...your hair…”
Toni threaded a hand through her locks, “My hair? What about it?”
“It’s...so colorful.” You said breathlessly.
A look of confusion crossed Toni’s face before it dawned on her, “You can see it? The color? You found him!” She then looked at Sweet Pea who also seemed captivated by the pink of her hair.
“Wait...Sweet Pea is your soulmate?” She asked before bursting into a fit of giggles, “This is perfect! I have to tell Fangs!” She turned and ran to find the other Serpent, laughing the entire time.
“Want to get out of here?” Sweet Pea asked finally once she had left. “Or suffer those two the rest of the night?”
You turned back towards him, a wide smile on your face, “I’d love to.”

Colours
Pairing: Soulmate!Reader x Soulmate!Sweet Pea
Words: 300ish
Warnings: Death
Summary: When two soulmates meet, the pair can finally see colour. But nothing can prepare Sweet Pea for when life turns back into black and white.
Notes: Filling in the ‘Soulmate AU’ square on my @riverdalebingo card.
Tumblr media
It’s 2018 when they first met.
When Sweet Pea woke up there was a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach that he couldn’t quite pin point so he put it down to nerves.
He had no idea it was because he was going to met her.
It’s was his first day at Riverdale High, and not that he’d ever admit it, he’d been excited at the idea of a real education that might actually get him somewhere in life.
He could just about make her out in the sea of faces, but in one blink his life turns from black and white to colour, and it’s nothing like he’s felt before.
He didn’t care that he was surrounded by Northsiders that wanted him out of their school, he didn’t care about anything other than finding out her name.
And then she smiled at him, and he was sure nothing would ever be the same again.
-
7 years later in 2025 he was forced to say goodbye.
Part of him thinks that deep down he knew what was going to happen, a nagging thought in the back of his mind.
The last time he’d seen her she was running around the apartment trying to get ready. She’d woken up late for work, and he’d told her it was a sign that she should just call in sick and stay at home with him.
He wishes she would have listened.
He’d pulled her back into bed, tickled her until she couldn’t breathe from laughter and then he’d let her go. He’d kissed her goodbye one last time and she disappeared with a smile and promise of a Pop’s date that night.
He hasn’t eaten Pops since.
She’d only been gone 10 minutes when the light was literally sucked out of his life and he couldn’t see colour anymore.
He knew she was gone, and he was sure nothing would ever be the same again. But nothing can prepare Sweet Pea for when life turns back into black and white.

Hope for Us
Sweet Pea x Reader
Soulmate AU
Summary: You find your soulmate to be Sweet Pea, a member of an illustrious biker gang. Not everyone is happy that your soulmate is a gang member, but they don’t really matter do they?
Tumblr media
It started out as a normal day.
Then again… don’t all days?
“Oh come on!! (Y/N)! There is a whole new world of possibilities!”
“You mean the Southside High students? Lovely…” you murmur sardonically.
Ever since your friend had found her soulmate a year ago she has been hell bent on you finding yours.
“I’m sure they’re not all bad…”
“Gangs, Estell. Gangs. Gang violence. Gang activity. Drugs. Drug traffickers. Moral ambiguities! Is this the future you want for me? Is it?”
“...no…”
“I would hope not…”
“But! You should be open to possibilities!”
“Possibilities? When am I not open to possibilities?”
“You just said that you wouldn’t want a gang member!”
“Your soulmate is on the football team, captain of the debate team and an honor student who has already has early acceptance to his choice school… and you want my soulmate to be a gang member… well it was nice talking to you Estell! I’ve got to get to class.”
“Just saying you should keep an open mind!” She yells after you as you head towards your class.
The Southside high students are integrating into your classes today and the unmistakable nervous twitter of your classmates can’t be ignore. You know for a fact that many are dreading they will find their soulmate among the new students. You glance down at your wrist where the first words your soulmate says to you have been emblazoned on your skin. ‘Nice right hook you got there.’
You roll your eyes at the phrase you’ve read over and over again for the past few years.
Several new students pile into your history class and you already know this is going to be a bad day. Especially, when the biggest one sits down a couple of rows over. He doesn’t say anything throughout class, but you can feel the anger radiating off of him. The candid fact that Reggie and a few others from the football team keep making snide comments don’t help. After class lets out you all pile into the hallway and groan as Reggie makes one more snide comment. You watch the shoulders of the tall one tense up before he turns around and squares his shoulders at Reggie, who does the same. Now, normally this would be the moment that you would flee the scene, however, you’ve found yourself in a Serpent and Bulldog sandwich.
“What did you say to me?” Growls out the Serpent in a deep baritone.
“You heard me,” Reggie bites back.
With no warning, or regard to your trapped presence, Reggie throws the first punch. The Serpent, seeing you at the last moment pulls you to the side taking the hit full force in the face. You blink in surprise for a moment just as Reggie goes in for another punch. The Serpent is a little disoriented from the first blow, so he takes another hard hit that sends him stumbling backwards.
“Reggie! Stop!” You yell.
He just ignores you and continues his assault on the Serpent who isn’t even trying to fight back right now. It takes only a moment for you to realize why.
‘If he retaliates they will expel him…’
With a righteous anger you’ve never felt before you tap Reggie on the shoulder and when he turns around you punch him right in the nose.
“What the fuck (Y/N)! What was that for!” he barks at you between his hands.
“Just leave him alone Reggie! Beating up on someone for no reason is shameful!”
“He’s a Serpent!”
“He didn’t even do anything to you!”
“So your a traitor now? You’re going to side with them!?”
“Just shut up Reggie…”
“If you aren’t with us, your against us. Remember that.”
You roll your eyes as you turn away from him and towards the Serpent behind you. He isn’t there anymore and with a disappointed frown you walk away.
After classes have let out for the day you are heading out to your car when the words you’ve read a million times float to your ears.
“Nice right hook you got there!”
You stop dead in your tracks and turn to the Serpent behind you. The one from this morning that made sure you weren’t going to be hurt in the fray.
“Thanks… I’m sure yours is better…” you say it as barely a whisper, but he hears you and he stops dead in his tracks.
You both just stand there there staring at one another. Drinking in the man you are supposed to send your life with. The man who was made just for you.
“I’m Sweet Pea, your soulmate?” he says after a pause.
You smile softly, “You’re in a gang and your name is Sweet Pea? Now isn’t that ironic?”
He smirks, “No more ironic than the school brain ending up with the school thug.”
“You’re not a thug… a thug would have protected themself and not helped someone they’ve never met. A thug wouldn’t care if he gets expelled.”
“Hmmm… maybe,” he says as he takes a step towards you, “there is hope for us yet…”
“Let’s hope so…”
The next day starts out as anything but normal.
A guy clothed in leather on a motorcycle stops by your house, and gives your parents a heart attack, to pick you up for school.
You and Sweet Pea walk down the hallway together, shyly getting to know one another, both equally curious about the other. You notice the way that Reggie and few others’ eyes follow the two of you down the hallway. A bad feeling slowly brews in your chest and you clutch Sweet Pea’s hand tighter.
He glances down at you and notices your tense posture.
“You okay?”
You just nod and keep your head down. The looks from your classmates are making you uncomfortable and you untangle your hand from Sweet Pea’s.
“I’ve got to get to class, I’ll see you later?”
“It’s fine, I’ll walk you,” he says with a boyish smile and a shrug.
“No, I don’t want you to be late!”
He laughs, “You think I care about being late when I get to spend a few more minutes with you? Besides, I’ll just tell them that I got lost.”
Your heart melts at his reasoning.
“Okay,” You murmur softly and take his outstretched hand, entwining your fingers with his once again.
You are quite sure that before second period even started the entire school knew about you and Sweet Pea.
Estell comes running up to you in the hallway after your math class squealing, “You found your soulmate!”
“I did… I did find him.”
“What’s he like?” She asks in excitement.
“He’s… Sweet… not at all what I was expecting.”
“You seem oddly okay with the fact that he’s a Serpent, a gang member, when you were very against it yesterday,” she says with a Cheshire like grin.
“I don’t know… I was a little hesitant at first, but he’s not what I was expecting…”
You turn the corner and almost walk right into an all out brawl between the Serpents and the Bulldogs. You could see Sweet Pea in the center of it all with flames in his eyes and he looks terrifying.
“Maybe you shouldn’t be okay with having a gang member as a soulmate…” says Estell quietly as Sweet Pea hits her own soulmate in the jaw.
“Peter!” She yells in despair before she covers her mouth in fear and worry.
“Sweet Pea! Stop!” You yell in fear as you notice several teachers come tearing down the hallway to rip the boys apart.
“All of you! My office! Now!” Yells principal Weatherbee.
The boys with grunts and with glares head off towards the office. Sweet Pea doesn’t look you in the eye as he passes you and you don’t know what to say.
“Your soulmate just beat the shit out of my soulmate…” says Estell with a slight quiver in her voice.
“I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation…”
“No! You and your soulmate need to stay away from us…He’s dangerous!”
“Estell!” You yell as she turns and runs down the hallway.
The remaining students just glare after you as you head off down the hallway to your next class. You feel hopeless and a little lost as you contemplate what you should be doing.
You don’t see your friends or Sweet Pea for the rest of the day and everyone seems to be ignoring your texts. When the day ends and you notice that Sweet Pea’s bike is already gone, you feel anger lick at your heart as you start the long trek home, feeling thoroughly alone and scorned.
“How is it…” you grumble to yourself as you walk home, “Am I the person that everyone is mad at when I didn’t even do anything!”
When you get home you see Sweet Pea sitting on your front porch with his head down. You walk right up to him and he looks forlornly up at you.
“I’m sorry…” he croaks out.
You sit down next to him on the porch and just nod.
“Are you going to tell me what happened today?”
“They… they said I wasn’t good enough for you… that I would just drag you down and I should stay away from you. That one guy… Peter? Told me you didn’t want to have anything to do with me. That you’d told your friend that you couldn’t stand the fact that your Soulmate is a Serpent and you’re only being nice to me because you’re afraid of me…I was so heartbroken that I lost it… and I knew they were right… I’m not good enough for you…”
“Sweet Pea… The universe put us together for a reason, so obviously you are…”
“What if it’s a mistake? You know I’m not as smart as you… I’m probably never going to get out of this town.”
“Why would you not be able to? You can do whatever you want with your life.”
“Not if I end up in jail…”
“Who says you are going to? You’ve already written your future based on the assumptions of everyone around you… Look I know we aren’t a conventional pair, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to drag me down or be an inconvenience. Okay? It’s day two, let’s not assume that our life is over just yet okay?”
“So you’re okay with the fact that I’m a Serpent?”
“I-I’m getting used to the idea…”
He laughs as he wraps an arm around you, “They are my family, they’ve done more for me than my own parents have. If I ask them… the will put me through college.”
“Is that want you want?”
“It is now…”
“What’s changed?” you ask with a secret smile.
“Well… I met this great girl… and she believes in me… And I think we’re going to spend our life together, so I better get my shit in order.”
“Well… I think there might just be hope for us yet…”
EDIT: If I get at least 20 comments on this I’ll make this into a 3 part mini series.
