During the Qing period, the dao (Chinese Saber) was most commonly slung from the waist with the hilt facing back. When work with a bow holster, this placed the hilt out of way and within easy reach. Drawing the dao from this position is easy enough when standing, but seem problematic when seated. As seen here, where a Daoke is getting a pedicure. If he rotated the hilt forward to draw in what is believed was the standard method, he would very likely be impeded by the bench he is seated on.

Perhaps this potential obstacle to the sword draw was negated by quickly standing. Whatever was the case, there is still clearly a great deal about the details for Chinese Sword Drawing that remains unknown.

Swordsman vs. Arrow- Sword Cuts Speeding Arrow

Speed is one of the five essential elements of Chinese Swordsmanship (Jiànfǎ, 劍法). Cutting an arrow in flight is the ultimate test of a Swordsman’s skills. The Japanese refer to this skill as Yadome no jutsu (the military study of arrow cutting or blocking), considering it an indicator of superior martial prowess. Scott M. Rodell, director of the Great River Taoist Center, draws his jian (sword) slicing an arrow shot at him from just over 15 meters away. Traveling at 70.2 mph (113 kph) the arrow flies 51’ (15.5 m) in .48 of a second. Drawing his jian (sword) from the scabbard, his Liāo cut (撩) sliced it neatly in two.

Dear Ghosthunter:

All I wanted was an rpg game to pass the time. I did not expect this at all. This is such a sweet game. I'm very emotional after playing through this game and I cannot help but cry. I'm literally cried when I reached the ending. Timmy reminded me of my little brother (they are in the same age too!) and now I am very homesick and I miss him so much. (Don't worry, he is still alive and well but I won't be seeing him for a long while.)

After playing, I realized how much I missed him. It made me think about how precious time is.

Lavender’s actions and decisions really resonated with me. I know it may seem like an exaggeration but I FELT it as an older sibling. I felt that need to be the responsible one, I felt that feeling of trying to be positive for them, I felt the need to protect them. I understood it.

I cannot accurately express what I want to say, really. I’m starting to cry again. Ghosthunter, if you are reading this, thank you for this game. I loved the music! I love the art (I am a sucker for pixels), the story, the characters (I adore every one of them), I love it’s aesthetic--everything! I was trying to find a game like those RPGmakers and when I tried this game, I was in love. You nailed it! I am looking forward to the next game, should there be one :) Thank you
