Eddie, My Love! eddie munson x reader // valentine's day special series Day 8 Prompt: Rom-Coms 🎟️ ~ 2,400 words Watching a romantic comedy on TV brings back some memories for Eddie. (angst, w/ a hopeful ending)
Tumblr media
Eddie taps the lit end of his cigarette into an ashtray, staring at the television screen with tired eyes. The bluish light casts an eerie glow about the room; it feels cold, sterile.
This has been his ritual for far too long now: go to work, come home, and watch some mind-numbing program alone until he falls asleep. Wash, rinse, repeat.
He yawns, and rubs his stubbly face with one hand. He should get in bed before he passes out on the couch — save his back the trouble — but instead he picks up the remote again, flicking through channels, waiting in vain for something stimulating.
Coca-Cola ad. Late night talk show interview. Some black and white picture from MGM. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. Sitcom rerun.
He pauses, thumb hovering over the button.
Eddie switches back to When Harry Met Sally. He rented it from Family Video once upon a time, but he hasn’t watched it in years. It feels like an eternity has passed since then and yet, he remembers it like it was yesterday.
That’s what every memory with you feels like to him; it’s both an old scar and a fresh wound. He doesn’t know what feels worse — the hot, gut-wrenching ache of longing that pains him now, or the knowledge that those memories, no matter how agonizing they may be, might start to fade one day.
But it seems an impossibility; he can recall every detail. He wets his lips, remembering how you had pleaded with him in line to rent this particular film, even though he’d been hoping to see the new Indiana Jones movie.
“Rob Reiner doesn’t make bad movies, Eddie. He did The Princess Bride, remember? Besides, it’s Valentine’s Day!”
He relented, as he always did. Who was he to deny you anything?
But oh, how things change.
Pipe dreams turned to reality. Demo tapes turned to albums. Dive bar gigs turned to international tours. You, bravely avowing that he had to grab hold of every opportunity he could — you told him that no matter where in the world he went, you would always be here, loving him. All the while, secretly, the small pit of fear planted in your stomach was sprouting and unfurling as the distance between you two grew further, and the silences louder.
He should have tried harder. Came home more. Picked up the Goddamn phone. He’d always had to call you; it was too difficult to get a hold of him yourself, to keep track of where he might be, when he was traveling constantly.
And then that awful night, when he’d lost everything. Everything that mattered, anyway.
It was the last time he ever saw or spoke to you. Hours of arguing, pleading, crying; it was the death rattle of the most important relationship of his life. You finally told him what you were afraid of, what you had been afraid of, and that it had come true.
“I’m just a girl from back home, Eddie.”
Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. You were never just a girl to Eddie. Not then, not now. Not ever. But what difference had it made? When the time had come for him to make a choice, he had still walked out the door.
The world was being presented to Eddie Munson on a silver platter. He was young, up-and-coming, successful. A talented musician — gifted, even. He had the right look and the attitude.
Being his partner wasn’t easy. Your support was unwavering, but your lives were going in different directions, it seemed. You both loved each other enough to want the other person to have what they wanted, which were…no longer the same things.
But it was still horrible.
He spent the next few weeks in a near-fugue state, numb and inconsolable. His bandmates whispered to each other in the studio, casting furtive glances over at their supposedly-invincible leader, while the rest of their team offered him pseudo-smiles tinged with impatience, and suggested that he focus on channeling the pain towards his music.
After that, when he had the time, he’d leave LA and come back to the city he’d initially dragged you out to after graduation. He had no idea if you still lived there, but it didn’t matter. It was the last place he knew you to be and so he wandered those familiar streets, looking for you in every person he passed, as though it were likely that he might bump into you at a bus stop, outside the grocery, sitting on a park bench.
It was a luxury he could afford until Corroded Coffin started to fall apart. Disputes between band members, both personal and professional. Declining album sales. Bad management. Once sold-out venues were a struggle to fill. The once-steady flow of cash turned into a trickle, and then the boys were unceremoniously dropped from label, the execs deciding that keeping them around wasn’t worth the expense.
He supposes he could have stayed in the industry if he really wanted to. Formed a new band or begged to join another that was in need of a guitarist, but Corroded Coffin was his baby. The idea of starting all over again or leeching off of another group’s success left a bad taste in his mouth. And the producing gigs and session work somehow felt even worse; he dreaded having to watch others succeed at what he had ended up failing.
Fame had chewed him up, decided it didn’t like the flavor, and promptly spit him back out. His music career felt like a fever dream now. His life before that, with you, was the realest thing he’d ever had.
As he watches Harry and Sally dine together at Katz’s Deli, his mind wanders to the slip of paper stowed carefully away like a sacred jewel, all alone in a drawer of his bedside table.
No, he won’t.
Harry and Sally fall apart.
He won’t dare.
Harry runs through Manhattan to find his girl.
Not after everything he’s done, after all this time.
Harry tells her all the reasons that he loves her…
Eddie abruptly switches the TV off, unable to hear anymore. He sits in the darkness for a moment, aching with bone-weary sadness. What had Dustin told him, as he passed the paper to him across the table over lunch one day?
“It couldn’t hurt to try.”
But Dustin was wrong about that. It could hurt him very, very much.
Eddie stands, and pads through the apartment to his bedroom. He sits on the side of the bed, and pulls open the drawer that holds his very last tie to you — a scrap of old receipt bearing your name and phone number. He picks it up with trembling fingers, then lowers it again, terrified that his clammy hands with smudge the ink. The phone seems to taunt him from where it sits atop the nightstand. As though he’s having an out of body experience, Eddie’s arm reaches out beyond his control and picks it up, the dial tone emitting a low buzz in his ear. He stares down at the number in the drawer, as though he didn’t memorize it the second he got it. He doesn’t even know how Dustin found you; but the geeky little shit has his ways.
He punches in the number, heart racing faster with each digit he puts in.
It rings…and rings…and rings…
“Hello?”
Eddie’s mouth falls open in a low gasp. Your sweet voice is the same, only slightly marred by the bewilderment you must feel at receiving a call this late in the evening. Embarrassingly, his eyes sting with tears; he can’t speak.
“Hello? Anyone there?”
Eddie slams the phone back into the receiver, white as a sheet. He gets up, paces a lap around the room, chugs a glass of water, and finally takes his seat again, trying not to hyperventilate.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, he picks up the phone again, and re-dials.
His heart is in his throat now, swollen and beating so violently it threatens to choke him.
Your voice again, slightly more annoyed, though you still sound like an angel. “Hello?”
“H-Hi,” Eddie says hoarsely, and tries to swallow his fear.
There’s a brief silence on the other end. “...who is this?”
“It’s me. It’s…it’s Eddie. Munson,” he tacks his surname on at the end, as though he needs to specify.
Muffled noise through the speaker. The seconds tick by, and Eddie waits with dread for you to hang up.
Finally, you whisper, “Eddie?”
“Yes, it’s me.”
“H-How did you get this number?”
He has the phone in a vice grip. “Dustin gave it to me.”
“Why…why are you calling?” He wishes he could see your expression. You sound terrified, like he’s going to bite you through the phone.
How can he answer that? What is there to say, after so much time, after so much pain? I miss you. I love you. None of it was worth it, even when I was on top. Losing you was like being cut in half.
“I wanted to see how you were. How you are, I mean.”
“I’m okay.” The response is quick, automatic. But you don’t elaborate any further than that, and awkward silence prevails again.
Eddie deserves that, he supposes. Sweat trickles down his back, under his arms, breaks out on his forehead. He pushes his damp bangs back out of his eyes. “That’s good. I’m glad to hear it, sweetheart,” the term of endearment slipping out as though a day hasn’t gone by where you haven’t been his sweetheart.
“Don’t call me that,” you tell him tersely, sounding pained.
“I’m sorry,” he replies, ashamed. He had no right to do this to you. Drudge up old memories that you probably wanted to forget, or had so already.
“What is this about?” you ask him again, voice shaking.
“I told you,” he mumbles, “I want to know how you are. And I guess…I want to apologize.”
“You want to apologize,” you repeat skeptically, with an incredulous huff. “Now? Really?”
“Yes, really. I’m sorry,” he repeats, eyes glazed and wet. A dry sob rattles his chest. “I don’t what I was thinking. I shouldn’t have called, I shouldn’t be…I’m sure you hate me and I don’t blame you, because I do too.” He wets his lips and presses on. “But if I can take this time to say one thing to you it’s that I’m sorry. For everything. I am so fucking sorry. For leaving, for hurting you, for every stupid little thing I did. That’s why I really called. To tell you that.”
“Oh God,” you say, almost to yourself, voice suddenly small. “I — I’m not ready for this.”
“You don’t have to say anything back,” he whispers, voice breaking, closing his eyes, letting the tears slip over his lashes.
“Are you crying?”
He wipes furiously at his nose. “It doesn’t matter.”
“It does to me.”
Eddie can’t lie to you, certainly not now. “Yes. I’m sorry, I can’t help it. Your voice…”
“That — that came out sharper than I meant it to —”
“No, I mean it’s beautiful. I missed it.”
“Eddie…”
“Yeah?”
You start to speak and then falter, struggling to articulate what it is that you’re feeling. “I’m sorry, I have no idea what to say.”
Eddie laughs brokenly. “Funny, because there’s a million things I want to say to you. I just don’t know if I should or not.”
You swallow with an audible click. “I don’t know if you should, either.”
Another silence. Eddie thinks he could pick out the sound of your breathing from a mile away, he’s still so in tune with it. After hundreds of nights spent laying next to you in bed, no other sound could send him to dreaming so quickly or peacefully.
“But why call now? After all this time?”
“I miss you.” The words escape before he has a chance to stop them; he bites his tongue against the rest of them. He considers his next words carefully before continuing.
“I never reached out before, because I made my bed and now I have to lie in it. I didn’t deserve to ask you for another chance, and I don’t think I do now, either, but…I was thinking of you tonight. Even more so than usual.”
Your voice shakes. “Does…does that happen often?”
He sucks in a sharp breath. “All the time.” The floodgates open; all his woe and regret from the past spills forward. “I am always, always thinking of you. Even when you thought I wasn’t. I know I was a shitty partner, but that didn’t mean — that I didn’t love you more than anything.”
“Eddie —”
But he can’t stop now. “I’ve missed you like hell since that very last night. I loved you so much, a-and I threw it away! How could I bring myself to speak to you after that? Especially after I lost it all? I would — God — I would hate for you to think that I was only coming back to you because I didn’t have anywhere else to go. I couldn’t do that. I didn’t wanna hurt you again, baby, and I know it would’ve.”
There’s a quiet sniffle on the other line. “It broke me when you left. And now this hurts, too.”
“I’m so sorry,” he breathes. “I wish I could make it better. I would do anything to make you not hurt anymore. I won’t ask you for a second chance, but just know,” Eddie takes a deep breath, closes his eyes, and seals his fate. “I’ve loved you for more than half my life,” he whispers. “I’ll love you until I die.”
And with that, the line goes dead.
Eddie stares at nothing, doesn’t move. He doesn’t know how long he sits there for; eventually, his body moving on autopilot, he hangs up the phone and crawls under the covers. He’s done sobbing, but tears drip down his temples as he lays back in bed, dampening his hair.
Time doesn’t exist anymore, but he hopes he’ll fall asleep soon anyway.
Breathing, quiet and even. Eyelids slightly heavier. He thinks maybe it’s finally within reach.
He’s almost there.
The phone rings.
Eddie blindly feels with one arm, and picks it up from the receiver for the third time tonight.
“Hello?” he asks hoarsely, not daring to believe it.
An angel answers.
“E-Eddie? It’s me again…”

For @localcryptidinthewoods 's Divine Warriors Rockstar AU
I have some ideas on all of their backgrounds (but featuring my own headcannons for the Divine Warriors) and feel free to bounce ideas as well.
They all met at a boarding school, one that was where they sent kids in need of a "second chance", a(r/u)tistic folks, and kids who were musically talented and slightly annoying to their parents. A take my troubles away school for the parents.
Irene: She gives big large-range-soprano energy. She was a theater kid who said she was either become famous by 25 or start murdering people. Fortunately their band got a big break rather early. Not in contact with her parents but was at the school with scholarships. Possibly foster care.
Shad: He and Menphia knew each other for a long time, both having really rich parents who threw money at them. Shad technically was being raised by an uncle but it was a "I give you money and roof, you leave me alone" relationship. Led to a LOT of teenage rebellion.
Menphia: Her dad was a fashion model and her mom was a boxer. Her dad was very much a girlboss malewife while her mom was a Gaslight Mansplain type of person. Both fueled her interests and encouraged her rebellion. They weren't regular parents, they were cool parents.
Enki: Their dads were professors and sent her to the school so he could let his creativity flow. They were very encouraging of the arts but believed it was more of a phase. Did help them get a solo dorm so they could be as genderqueer as they needed to be. Enki is incredibly smart and to make her parents happy she did get a librarian degree.
Esmund: He was an Irish exchange student who got a scholarship. The scholarship was due to his dad helping the dean get out of a bar fight and saved his life. There because of nepotism but genuinely talented, and he also never knew of the nepotism so he believed he had to work hard.
Kul'Zak: A part of the second chance program. Incredibly musically talented, like broadway vocal talent and worked hard. Naturally gifted but he isn't there because of a scholarship, his juvie officer recommended him for the second chance pity/charity program after seeing him make a guitar out of contraband. (Juvie officer also wanted people to stop trying to hide contraband in his prosthetic leg).

When I was in elementary school our Talented and Gifted program was called “Flight” (as in like soaring to great heights or whatever, idk don’t ask me), and I think the fondest memories of my entire child/tween years were in that little room in another school (and then another little room in middle school).
No matter who we were or who we hung out with outside of that class, for an hour each day we just chatted and laughed at/with each other and learned together. No one was “popular” or “cool”-- we were all just a bunch of nerds that liked to chatter constantly.
That Flight class taught me to give speeches/presentations, to work hard and not give up when I didn’t know something, and to just reach for the goddamned stars. It taught me that it wasn’t such an awful thing to be different, and that the way I saw the world didn’t make me any lesser than the neurotypical kids my age.
This sounds like a total exaggeration, but i genuinely think that class saved my life. There were so many issues that Mrs. Penn (the T&G teacher a few years ago) helped me through and taught me how to navigate, and I owe literally all of my achievements to being taught to be resilient and confident in my intelligence and potential. Being a “gifted” kid sucked/still sucks sometimes, but I couldn’t imagine ever knowing myself to be any different.

April TBR 2024--
Tumblr media
This next month is set to be full of rereads, hockey romances, and new to me books. It is also the month I'm starting a certification program so it will probably be a bit of a struggle to get through this month's TBR. I don't even remember the last time I've thought that about a month's TBR. I really hope I have as much fun with this TBR as I'm expecting to. I've really been in the mood for these rereads and these hockey romance so I'm excited to finally get to it.
Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken-- This is just one of a few rereads this month. Book two in the series comes out next month. I originally read this one as an ARC so I definitely need a refresher first. Tamsin Lark is a mortal with no magical talent who was never meant to break into ancient crypts or compete with sorceresses and Cunning folk for the treasures inside. But treasure hunting is the only way she could keep herself and her brother Cabell alive following her thieving foster father's disappearance. Ten years later she's looking for a ring that is supposed to save her brother from a curse. It's based in Arthurian legend.
Teen Titans: Beast Boy by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo-- Another reread before a new book in the series. I remember enjoying this one slightly less than Raven's book, but I still enjoyed meeting a new character and getting their origin story. I also felt like it addressed an issue that isn't brought up a lot: male body image issues. We see it addressed a lot in fiction for girls, but there are boys who also go through this growing up. Plus it's beast boy and lots of green animals.
The Score by Elle Kennedy-- A hockey romance! I've been so in the mood for hockey romances this year. I don't know if it's because I found a few new to me authors and bought some kindle books for Christmas or what. In this one we follow Allie Hayes who is in crisis mode. Graduation is looming and she's dealing with a broken heart thanks to the end to her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just one though because even if her future is uncertain it sure as heck doesn't include Dean. It seems like he's going to pursue her after she puts him in the friend zone following their one night stand. I love it when the guy falls first or the guy is pursuing the girl so I'm looking forward to this one.
Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu-- The last of the rereads for this month. I'm so excited for the next book too. In this one we follow an international pop sensation named Winter Young who is brought into the world of spies when a major crime boss gifts his daughter a private concert with Winter for her birthday. Sydney Cossette is a member of the elite covert ops group who is forced to work alongside Winter to infiltrate the crime organization's inner circle. This was such a fun and quick read for me last year and I can't wait to go back into this world of glitz, glam, and spies.
Bad Men by Julie Mae Cohen (NetGalley)-- This one just sounded so good when I saw it on NetGalley. It's unhinged women at its finest. Saffy Huntley-Oliver is an intelligent and glamorous socialite; she also happens to be a proficient serial killer. Over the course of fifteen years, she's dispatched bad men--rapist, murderers, domestic abusers. But leading a double life has left her lonely. Dating's rough when your boyfriend might turn out to be your next victim. Saffy thinks she's finally found a truly good man in Jonathan Desrosiers, a true crime podcaster. This is a feminist thriller that asks if even a serial killer can have a happily ever after. My hopes for this one? Rich people drama and some mad women.
The Hemlock Queen by Hannah F. Whitten (New Release)-- The second book in the series is finally coming out. This series starts with Lore, who has a dark power and a hidden past, as we follow her into the intrigue of the Sainted King's royal court. The king and his priest manipulate Lore and have her spy on the prince in order to determine just who is killing the villages at the edge of the kingdom. We follow on from the events of the first book in this new one.
My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne (Kindle)-- A hockey player who is going through a scoring draught is worried he's going to get traded before the deadline if he doesn't turn it around. Following a New Year's Eve with a woman, he has a waterfall of goals and knows he has to see her again. She wants nothing to do with him and he feels his has to change her mind. A hero falls first sounding story that I'm so looking forward to. I will say that there's a very obvious hockey error in the synopsis of this one and we all know I'm a little picky about hockey details. But I'll try to keep an open mind on this one.
Just Do This One Thing For Me by Laura Zimmerman (Library)-- I'm going to pull the synopsis straight from GoodReads since it's a Mystery/Thriller and those are hard to explain at the best of times: "'Just do this one thing for me.' Drew's mother says it more often than good morning. Heidi Hill has been juggling shady side hustles for all of Drew's seventeen years, and Drew knows that 'one thing' really means all the necessary things her mother thinks are boring, including taking care of her fifteen-year-old sister and eight-year-old brother. In fact, Drew is the closest thing to a responsible adult they've ever known. When their mother disappears on the way to a New Year's Eve concert in Mexico and her schemes start unraveling, Drew is faced with a choice: Follow the rules, do the responsible thing, and walk away--alone--from her mother's mess. Or hope the weather stays cold, keep the cons going, and just maybe hold her family together."

We wrote player epilogues for our characters for this dnd campaign. Idk how much sense it will make out of context but still wanted to share the one I wrote for my goth-ass drow warlock--
Ursula immediately embarks on the second most urgent mission she’s ever faced, after saving the world: making sure Dion has the best wedding ever. Ursula works closely with Dion in the years to come to ensure peace among the elves, to ensure that everyone knows that Dion is the most talented incredible druid/person ever, and to ensure that her goddaughter and her brother are spoiled rotten (and get to Fly whenever they want).
Pyra proves to be the leader the drow people need as they remake their society. Her steely will and driving ambition surmount the resistance of the remnants of Lolth-aligned houses, and her courage and charm sway the masses to her vision. Her clerical powers dwindle, but her faith in her people’s potential only ever grows. She is crowned queen of the reforged Ust’Natha with the bollide blade at her side—a gift from her chief advisor and wife, Ursula, for the champion of the drow.
Initially hesitant about publicly working alongside Pyra for fear of undermining her image, Ursula eventually lets herself come home. As drow struggle to restructure their society without the gifts of their demon queen, Ursula works with Index to introduce new technologies and techniques to get the city back on its feet. This is helped greatly by the formation of a Wyv satellite program spearheaded by Celeste, which demystifies the arcane arts for drow and teaches them how to practice safely. There is also inexplicably a department dedicated to studying the frogs of the Underdark.
Ursula struggles with the duty of ascension laid before her. She immerses herself in life—making up for lost time with her parents, falling in love, and of course, regrouping with the Horizon Hunters to go on more adventures and/or see how many deviled eggs Finn can hork down. She waits and waits for the moment when yes, she has lived enough. She has seen all that mortal life has to offer. She can go now. The moment never really comes. There are always new places to see, new experiences to be had, and always, always, people to love. But eventually, she is ready.
Generations later, Ust’Natha is a city of many races and many faiths. Temples to the Starhallowed Court stand alongside temples to duergar and svirfneblin gods in the heart of the city. But on the outskirts, there sits a temple in the shadows. It is surrounded by a garden of red nightlight fronds, and surface flowers that improbably flourish. While it is rarely spoken of, residents of the Underdark seem to know what it is for. If one feels lost, if one feels alone, if one seeks freedom, they are drawn there. Praying at the crystalline statue of a one-eyed goddess, they can find the hope and power that they need to carry on. At the Temple of the Black Opal, one can find a savior for the broken, the beaten, and the damned.

Primal: Seasons 1-2. A Review.
I should've watched this sooner.
Primal is a TV show created by a gifted talent named Genndy Tartakovsky. The creative mind is responsible for several shows that air or aired on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. These shows include Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Sym-Bionic Titan, and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. Despite not having seen Unicorn: Warriors Eternal yet, the other shows I can attest to are high-quality, lovingly crafted, immensely enjoyable pieces of media. I have a soft spot for the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim as I grew up on the channel and still enjoy Adult Swim programming to this day. Not every show they've aired over decades has been a banger, but they have numerous feathers for their cap.
Tartakovsky has helped without a doubt, and Primal is another feather for their cap and his own.
Primal is an adult animated action series that aired the first 5 episodes of season 1 in October 2019, the following 5 a year later, and all 10 episodes of season 2 weekly starting July 21, 2022. Primal takes place during a version of the prehistoric age that features cavemen, extinct dinosaurs, mammals from the Ice Age, Vikings, magical creatures, and otherwise as it incorporates varying elements of fantasy, action, adventure, and sometimes even horror. Both seasons follow the adventures of a Neanderthal named Spear and Fang, a female Tyrannosaurus Rex who form a bond after both lose their families early and try to survive their world together making wild discoveries along the way. What makes Primal stand out amongst Genndy Tartakovsky's other works or other animated shows out there, besides its setting or compelling storytelling, animation, and so much else, is how the first season features no dialogue.
The show performs a stellar job of creating characters that have little to nothing to say besides grunts or screams. The second season begins incorporating more dialogue but remains minimal.
Primal deserves the acclaim it has received from critics. The animation is gritty but beautiful. Sometimes difficult to look at as brutal action sequences occur and sometimes hard to look away from as these beings try to survive. The story in season 1 shows Fang and Spear venturing from place to place with strong episodes that stand alone mostly, save for a few. The story in season 2 is even better as stakes and situations become increasingly complex and fascinating, ugh. The day-to-day struggle against hellish creatures while trying to survive or find someone or something is stellar. The second season also features some of the best episodes and arcs of the series so far.
Episode 4, The Red Mist, puts Spear and Fang to their limits as they face a fearsome and deadly warrior clan, featuring one of the best action sequences as Spear and Fang give into their basic instincts. Episode 5, The Primal Theory, is the one episode in the show that strays away from Fang and Spear and fast-forward to different characters in the year 1890. Upon initial watch, I was disinterested in straying away from the action Fang and Spear indulged in, but by the end of the episode, I was on the edge of my seat. And as I'm finished with the show, there's an argument to be made that it's the best episode of the series, even! It's not only an episode to show that Genndy can do an anthology series, but the whole episode relies on a premise relied upon by one of the characters early in, where they theorize that even if these elegant men of the 1800s are more articulate and advanced than their neanderthal ancestors if they are faced with a dire enough life or death situation, they may resort to their primal instincts, like their ancestors, to survive. Thus the name the Primal Theory. Not only is that theory put to the test, but the previous episode shows a blatant display of the hypothesis as Spear and Fang unleash bloodshed unlike ever before as the odds are stacked heavily against them. It's genius.
What's even more wild is the multi-episode run right until the end; They never hit the breaks. The episodes following the Primal Theory, pick up where Fang and Spear left off, returning after saving their friend Mira before launching into a three-episode arc taking place on a massive warship called the Colossaeus. The final episode of season 2 is bonkers as well, essentially wrapping up the story of Fang and Spear. Genndy Tartakovsky confirmed that Primal would become an anthology season going forward with season 3 as it was renewed in June earlier this year. If that is the case, I am waiting in anticipation.
Watch Primal if you haven't already. Season 1 is great, but Season 2 is even better. 4/5 for season 1, 4.5/5 for season 2.

From now to anniversary, there is a recollection section. You can only choose 3/5 significant events to describe your impressions of each chapter. I’m just recording mine here.
【Main Story Recollection】
CH1: In order to achieve my dreams, I returned to the country and participated in a Warson Prize Designer Contest. In this moment, the gears of fate closed and the rotation of light and night pulled up the curtains—
Osborn and I met on the roof for the first time
I laid out my beliefs to Sariel
Evan saved me when I was being shadowed
CH2: After I received an offer, I officially joined Warson and became a junior designer. A new journey started here.
I ran into Osborn when I was collecting materials in the museum
Evan and I were trapped in an elevator
I was responsible for designing Lin Yao’s dress
CH3: Under the manager’s demands, I began to alter Lin Yao’s dress. But my life seemed to gradually be drawn into an inscrutable conspiracy.
An An asked me to interview Osborn for her
Osborn and I investigated the manager’s kidnapping
I discovered I had the talent “empathy”
CH4: Lin Yao left the entertainment circle and decided to pursue her own dreams. I also had to continue working hard and moving forward on the path of a designer.
Osborn gave me a self-defense brooch
Sariel became my mentor
I asked Old Zhong to teach me shoe designs
CH5: Just when I was carefully preparing for the company fashion show, the Lu Family’s darkness gradually surfaced underneath their clean appearance.
Evan was exiled to England by his grandfather
Evan brought me to Hygge for a meal
Sariel altered the dress for me
CH6: The dark clouds of open strife and veiled struggles enveloped Guang Qi City’s sky and, when the line between dawn and dusk grew increasily chaotic, how was I to choose?
I was “kidnapped” by Osborn into a car
Lu Ting employed a bounty hunter to kidnap me
Charlie intercepted me with bodyguards
CH7: I woke up on Charlie’s airplane. He demanded me to fulfill the marriage contract, but I already made the decision to pursue the freedom and respect I desired.
Charlie gave the ruffians at the bar a lesson
I ran into Charlie at the hospital
There were frequent fires in Guang Qi City
CH8: The designer centre began to arrange independent external jobs for new designers and the task I received brought a surprising reunion.
Jesse and I reunited behind the scenes of the program
Zhao Ze pretended to be Wen Wan and kidnapped me
I was saved by Osborn who rushed over
CH9: When I was feeling deeply anxious preparing for the spring and summer fashion show, a fire suddenly occurred beneath my apartment.
Osborn charged into the fire and rescued me
I saw Evan’s past in a phantasmagoria
People who self-combusted had been treated at the People’s Hospital
CH10: My talent seemed to become stronger and stronger. Maybe I could use my talent to do something...
Charlie and I wanted to treat Yang Yang’s grandmother
The hospital autopsy room suddenly caught fire
Sariel promised to gift me a ball of fur
CH11: The fires in Guang Qi City continued to intensify and the shadows concealed in the darkness already bared their claws and teeth at us.
Zha Zhaopeng and Lu Ting began to collaborate
Sun Taizhong killed Tian Zhen
Charlie gave me a black feather bracelet
CH12: Jesse made a deal with Zhou Weicheng and saved Yang Yang. Everything seemed to unfold in a positive direction, but an unexpected thing happened—
Osborn accepted my investigation commission
The elder and Blood Clan conspired to frame Sariel
Sariel collapsed at the fashion show
CH13: In the ambulance, I saw my past meetings with Sariel. Those were all my memories that had been erased. This was when I realized that our fates were out of our control long ago.
Osborn told me about his past
Sariel became a little fox after he woke up
Osborn saw the other half of his soul
CH14: Yu Da Academy’s crimes were deliberately buried in a pile of old papers that no one cared about. But intuition told me that this hid the tip of the iceberg of truth—
I met Evan when I was investigating the academy
Charlie stabbed Sun Taizhong’s right hand
Jesse used his magic arts to save me
Starting from that day, the winds of fate wrapped around me and I stepped on an unexpected journey. When gales and dark clouds enveloped the city, I held a torch and walked to the other shore of truth together with you. The moment day and night alternated, you held my hand and together we ran towards the future that belonged to the two of us.

I don’t have in my notes where I got this. Maybe you know. But it’s the usual origin story of Ron Hamilton’s music:
Ron Hamilton grow up in a family that loved to sing at home, in church, or in the car while traveling. Even as a child Ron loved music and later studied it at Bob Jones University.
Ron was saved at the ago of five and surrendered his life for God's use during the summer of 1970 when he was sixteen years old. The Lord used Ron's talents to produce Bible-bused music such as "It is Finished," and the cantatas Born to Die, The Centurion, and The Greatest Gift. In 1977 God opened new areas for service as Ron traveled with a preaching, lecture, and music program called the Symphony of Life Seminars.
During a routine eye examination, a doctor found a small spot in Ron's left eye. Ron was sent to a surgeon who told him that the problem might be minor or that it might be cancer. Ron went into surgery content for God's will to be done. He later said. "When I woke up, I realized that my left eye was gone, but I also was very aware that God's peace had come to take its place." The seeming tragedy was turned into a blessing. He soon wrote his inspiring song, "O Rejoice in the Lord." He began another phase of musical ministry by becoming Patch the Pirate. His children's music, recording, and Patch the Pirate clubs have been a blessing to children and adults around the world. Ron was able to take adversity and turn it into an opportunity to serve and glorify the Lord.
I had never heard of Symphony of Life Seminars, had you? You can guess who conducted them:

The Power of the Serenity Prayer
By Stephanie Walker June 2, 2022
I’m slowly going to write and blog about my recovery again as I get deeper into it, and if it floods your news feed; I apologize. It helps me. As most of you know this morning I was released from a rebab/detox program in Greenville at Walter B. Jones center. It had it ups and downs with emotions, however it is an excellent center to go to if you need help. The staff is amazing, the resources available (therapy, aa, na, recovery planning etc) are infinite it seems, and the people I met also attending rebab for the most part were extremely kind.
Over the past week I met several other addicts and alcoholics. Some were great to talk to, some not so much. It happens. I bonded with an excellent group of women I was very blessed to cross paths with. We laughed, we cried, we did crafts, we watched and gossiped about the Johnny Depp trial (haha) and just really were able to help each other with out passing any sort of judgement. We would walk in the permitted/allowed areas outside together in between meetings and feel the sun hit our skin 2 times a day for 15 minutes at a time and just appreciate the little things. Once you sober up some and don’t feel sick from with draw, reality (both good and bad) seems to set in and its nice to be with others who seem to be going through the same thing.
It wasn’t all fun and games though. I saw some pretty horrible things, scary things, the past week. Have you guys ever watched that show called Scared Straight? Well, you could in a way compare it to that. Out of respect for other people attending the facility I don’t wish to get into detail about what I saw due to having a respect for anonymity for other addicts. Long story short, I saw things that I don’t wish my life to be. I saw things that broke my heart for others. I saw things that brought out an empathy in me I didn’t even know existed. Maybe that’s a good thing.
I’m going to go ahead and wrap this up. Yes, I have been to jail and what not, I do not care to go back. Usually being released from gated facility I would of ran for the doors bags packed and ready to get the hell out of there! Today I didn’t feel this. Today when I woke up at 5AM anxious I almost would say I felt a sadness. These people I had met and bonded with helped me in so many ways. The staff, and the other patients. Before I left I yelled “Alright girls bring it in!” And we all held hands and I said this to them all on my own accord, and it was one of the most POWERFUL and meaningful moments of my life:
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen
By the end of the prayer, we were all crying like babies, the water works were flowing, and the goose bumps were on all of us. All of us, young, old, mothers, college students, you name it, not a single dry eye in the room. After this hugs were given and a woman announced out loud the most powerful thing and most strong compliment I think I have ever been given in my life. “You know guys, in a way Steph saved us all.” I couldn’t believe it. My mind raced and I got that feeling in my stomach like you get on roller coasters you know. It meant the world to me and I will never forget it. So, anyone who gave up faith in me for relapsing, please don’t. I have a purpose and a calling. Sobriety is beautiful and I am blessed with so many gifts. No more wasted talent from me. Have a good night everyone.

Can u please be nicer on ao3? Maybe you should try answering people's comments
when i read the first line i was honestly flabbergasted and wracking my brain trying to figure out when in the world i wasn't nice on ao3 ever. because i honestly truly try to be nice to everyone always, even when i'm angry or frustrated or people are going after those i love and want to protect. if there was a time i WASN'T nice on ao3, i wondered if it was maybe because my comment had been misunderstood or someone saw me razzing an author i'm good friends with and they didn't get that we are close and i said what i did with so much love and appreciation, you know? like what??? did i do???
but then i read your second line. and please forgive me if i come off as rude in my response to this, because honestly i'm in a pretty bad spot mentally and emotionally in general right now, but PARTICULARLY today, and this ask triggered an anxiety response in me. so. i'm trying really hard to word this in a way to educate without being condescending or mean, but i might not succeed.
firstly, thank you for your comments i'm assuming you've left. i'm also assuming they were nice comments, in which case extra thanks. i'm sure i'll send you effusive responses on ao3 when the time comes.
secondly, please understand that sending an ask like this, on anonymous no less, is incredibly entitled. writing is not my profession, i receive no compensation for my works that i post for free online, and as a part of that it is not required of me to respond. i do my very best to reply to every comment i receive, but it is not always in a timely manner, because i have other priorities in my life. all of which leads us to my third point, which is:
writers do not owe you a reply to your comments. end of. there are no other qualifications or quantifying modifiers to be added to the statement. is it nice to be acknowledged and know your comment was seen? sure. but do they OWE you one? hell no.
in fact, i'd like to offer you a suggestion. a way of tweaking your thinking about the comments you leave on fics. instead of looking at comments you leave as being something that deserves a reply from the author, think of your comments as your way of paying the author for the gift of their time and talents that they have shared with you by posting their fic. that's how i think of the comments i leave for authors. i'm giving them my thanks for the words they've shared! i want to help THEM feel as amazing as they have made ME feel when i read their fic. in fact, my hope isn't necessarily a response from them, but instead my hope is THE GIFT OF THEM SHARING MORE FIC WITH ME. i'm a selfish bitch in that way and i always want all the fic to read. i never want that well to go dry. one way i can ensure that doesn't happen is by supporting authors and being kind to them and spreading all the love and excitement i can about their writing in the hopes that my words will inspire them to share more.
because whether they reply or not, i GUARANTEE they are seeing your comments. i PROMISE they are. and for all you know, your comment might be the one that keeps them writing even when their words aren't coming easily or when they are tempted to give up.
but, again, please remember that no matter what, these authors (including me) don't actually owe you anything.
the rest of this is going under a cut, because honestly my reply is already far too long and i have a LOT more to say now that you've gotten me started.
now, all of this in mind, i'll explain to you why i'm not great with keeping up with comments made on my fics the last couple of years. i don't owe you this explanation any more than i owe you a response to your comments, and i'm honestly not sure you deserve this explanation either, but i'll still offer it anyway. it'll help me feel better knowing i at least put this out there, whether you care or not, mainly because if i don't do that it will cause me greater anxiety having you possibly think i am not responding to people because i feel all high and mighty or that i think i'm better than the comments or whatever the fuck kind of motivation you're attributing to me to see my lack of a response as something "not nice" towards the commenters.
i'm not sure if you've noticed, but i put out a lot of fic. like a lot. a lot of words and shit. i love writing, it's often my therapy and a way for me to help keep my anxiety and depression and ptsd at bay.
now, more personal shit for you, i've got three kids ages 9 and under. the oldest has adhd which we have yet to find a med for that helps to the extent she needs without side effects that aren't healthy for her to continue with, she also has anxiety, AND she's extremely gifted and starting a new program at a new school, all in the midst of a pandemic. and all of those situations exacerbate her anxiety! huzzah! she's also dealing with the beginning of her tween growing up shit, which is great fun because it means where she used to be pretty damn understanding of her younger brother, she is finding it much more difficult to. because the second oldest? he's autistic with some pretty significant gross motor, speech, and socialization delays that have only been exacerbated because of the previously mentioned pandemic. PLUS he transitioned from his special needs preschool to a fully integrated elementary school for kindergarten last year and then had to deal with all the ups and downs of the switch from e-learning to hybrid to all in schooling when everything in him screams for a normal schedule he can rely on to keep his own anxieties and fears and struggles at their minimum. and that youngest child? he was born in january of last year. he STILL barely leaves the house and has only met other children in close range a couple of times because, once again, pandemic!
add onto all of this my own mental health issues, the fact that my husband ALSO battles major clinical depression, adhd, and anxiety, AND we live with my parents who have their own health issues, both mental and physical. i run the home for our house of seven. i keep this place functioning, fed, clothed, clean, and everywhere we need to be for all of our five million appointments every. fucking. day. there is a REASON i've been borderline burnt out for the last fucking year and a half.
now, for fun, i have fandom shit. i love it here, even if it is a dumpster fire on the best of days, and getting to be a part of the writing community is so very lovely. i adore it. honestly, it's because of those friendships i've built with other writers that i have been able to keep writing and have found just how helpful it can be for my mental health. but i'm REALLY. INCREDIBLY. BUSY. i hardly have time to get on tumblr for just a quick swipe through my dash most days. i put off asks so long i forget i have them. i don't have the mental and emotional capacity to talk to people on here or interact fully a lot of the time. but i do my best to do so and be kind while i'm at it even when i don't want to be.
then, on top of that? i also run fic fests like @wordplayfics and help friends run their own. because not only am i a writer, i'm a reader. i LOVE fic. fic has saved me soooooo many times over the past seven years that i've been here. i want to do what i can to support other writers the best way i can, which is to provide a space for them to create their works that welcomes and helps promote them, but also by doing my monthly fic lists and pocast highlighting what i've been able to read, reblogging their fic posts, and then commenting and kudosing their fics too.
sometimes i get really fucking down on myself because i'm so behind on replying to comments, but my brain is very much a "if you start this, you have to finish it" kind of a brain, and i feel even WORSE sometimes if i reply to comments on some fics and not all of them. but i do my best and reply when i can. i was actually really fucking proud of myself because i had a couple days to myself in june, and i spent hours replying to comments on 20 of my fics. when you have almost 150 fics (i think? i don't even know how many fics i've posted by now), that is only scratching the surface. but i tried and i was so so happy i did that many fics at once. it's exhausting, though, and takes a lot of spoons for me to reply to them in mass like that plus time consuming. so i tried to be happy with those 20 fics and the comments i responded to there and told myself that when i ha a moment to breathe, i'd go and work on replying to some more.
but see, that again causes anxiety and guilt. because i haven't replied to all of them. and that anxiety and guilt can cause me to put it off further OR to put off important things like feeding my children or getting sleep in order to finish it, so i have to make myself put things into perspective and ensure i'm doing the important things, like taking care of myself and my family, first.
and then, i have a moment where i CAN go ahead and reply to comments... but i also have MANY fics that are on deadline and i actually have a schedule. a SCHEDULE. for when i'm going to focus on which fics. i can spell it out for you if you really want. i made it back in APRIL to make sure i didn't sign up for too many fic fests because there are so many going on right now that i want to participate in, but i know i can't do all of them so i had to pick and choose. and when you are SO overscheduled and busy that back in APRIL you had to figure out what fics you would focus on at what time to ensure you got everything written when you wanted to through THE END OF THE YEAR, more choices have to be made.
for example. my writing time and time for myself came down to only one evening a week for ALL fandom things i'm doing and a part of right now once the kids were out of school for the summer. it quickly became apparent that for my own self care i needed more time, so i worked with my husband to find two other days i could carve out at least 30-60 minutes to myself to write every week. and i did. but if i'm already only getting that much time and have committed to those fics and fests and things that you're running etc, you have to choose am i going to use this time to try to squeeze in some comment replies? or am i going to write? and i choose to write. simple as that.
so yeah. see it as selfish if you want. see it as mean. you can honestly see it as whatever the fuck you want, but for me? i know that as soon as i possibly can and i can breathe freely for once and not feel like i am constantly drowning in my day to day life and am doing pretty well when it comes to my fic deadlines and getting started on those christmas cards i'm once again going to be making by hand for everyone on tumblr who chooses to sign up for one this year out of the KINDNESS of my heart and the love i really do feel for so many of you, then i promise i'll be on ao3 catching up and commenting. my friends laugh and make fun of me for it sometimes, because they will sometimes get 10-12 replies to their comments in a single day. they know that's how i work. i WILL reply to every single comment i get, no matter how old it is. but for the love of all that is holy, do NOT add to the anxiety and guilt i already feel over it. the only place that will get you is the ask/comment getting deleted if it's a good day, a fucking long rant like this one if it's not, and a block if it's a REALLY bad day.
if you're asking me to be nice on ao3, then i ask in return that you also be nice by not demanding things of people that they are not in any way obligated to give.

The Goths: A Rebrand
I haven’t played the Goths since I first played the original Sims. But my new save is all aristocrats and I’ve enjoyed adding them in. So here’s a makeover with a little bit of story telling below the cut.
Mortimer ~ Fine Jewellery Specialist
The Goths made their fortune long ago by becoming craftsmen of some of the world’s finest jewellery, eventually earning a Royal Warrant from the royal family. As humble beginnings turned into “Old Money”, their legacy was passed down from generation to generation and the family became renowned not just for producing exquisite jewels but also impressive intellectuals with a flair for the fine arts.
Mortimer Goth embodies all these qualities, yet his biggest talent lies in loving his (seemingly never-aging) wife, Bella. From the second those kids set eyes on one another, they knew they had found their fellow weirdo, and it wasn’t long before they had created a tightknit family of oddballs to call their own. Years passed and Mortimer settled happily into the “cool dad” role, enjoying the company of his two children even more as they became capable of engaging in fiery debates of world topics across the dinner table. But now, with a surprise new rambunctious addition to the household, Mortimer doubts his ability to revert back to the days of endless bottles and dirty diapers. With his beloved Bella by his side, this feeling will pass... surely?
Bella ~ Private Psychic Reader
A talented psychic since the tender age of ten, life’s mysteries have no place to hide when faced with Bella Goth. Cast aside by her own sinfully boring family, Bella’s fears that she would never find anyone accepting of her gifts were put to rest when she found solace with the Goths. Here, her eccentricities were celebrated and she could fully be her beautifully strange self.
After marrying Mortimer, Bella was keen to start rebuilding her family right away; she would have had twenty children if she could. Filling the rooms of Ophelia Villa with music, chattering and laughter has been all she’s ever wanted. And although the arrival of their new son, Jasper, may have come as a big surprise to the rest of the family, of course, it wasn’t news to her. She’d been sitting on the information for quite some time thanks to her friends on the other side.
Now, her friends warn that her dear, sweet Cassandra may be leaving them soon and Bella is thankful for the toddler-sized distraction.
Cassandra ~ Paranormal Investigator
Cassandra Goth is a keen pianist set to follow in her mother’s footsteps by indulging in her supernatural curiosities. Sure, her business isn’t quite taking off in Willow Creek just yet, but when the next person needs a trapped spirit reasoning with, she’ll be ready with her keyboard and microphone. Not even demons can resist a good singalong.
Ever the school bully’s favourite target, Cassandra grew up knowing her family were anything but ordinary. She’s tried to embrace it, she never minded being different after all, however now there’s a snag. She longs for the romance she’s watched radiating from her parents her entire life. But throwing herself into the world of blind dating has hit her with never ending curveballs and stepping out of her treasured comfort zone is bringing on a lot of self-doubt. Perhaps it’s time for a big change before it’s too late.
Alexander ~ High School D Student
Kind. Dependable. Alexander Goth is the perfect son and friend, even if he’s never around them for very long. Constantly restless, he’s always eager to turn his hand to something different and his room is crammed with traces of mastered and abandoned hobbies – from robotics to climbing, painting to programming. Oh, and he’s also an avid member of the local wrestling team.
So, with such a long list of extra curriculars, Alex must be a prime university candidate, right? Well, not exactly. The regime of school never appealed to him and he can’t sit still long enough to ever get his homework done. His sense of adventure is telling him the family jewellery empire just isn’t for him; it might be time to follow his feet elsewhere. Mount Komorebi sure sounds tempting…
Jasper
Nicknamed “Boo!” for his surprise appearance, Jasper Goth has landed himself in quite a bit of luck. With a family fortune, at least one doting parent, and two siblings old enough to find him cute rather than annoying, Jasper is set for a good while.
But it looks like it might eventually fall to him to carry on the family business. Will he rise to the challenge, or could the Goth legacy be heading down an entirely different path?
