aahh i didn't even mean to, but it seems fitting to post a pic of my new tattoo on the car's first birthday ♥️ this band means so much to me and has done for well over a decade, and this album has truly rewired my soul, so it felt right to get this one done while i was in dublin for the last few shows of the tour for this album <3 (plus i really like the kind of meta-ness of getting 'body paint' tattooed tbh)

tattooing has made my storage space decidedly worse for visitors because previously there would be boxes with paint, with pencils, metal pieces I press my buttons with,... all art supplies with a clear purpose even if you're not that much of a crafter yourself.

These days, if you want to borrow one of my shopping bags, you get confronted with a big big clear box that only contains: 1 skin colored roll, 3 sharpies and a deoderant stick.

and these things belong together they have a clear purpose

#it's a roll of fake skin #stencils wont transfer to it with regular stencil fluid but somehow this brand of deoderant makes it transfer #the sharpies are for hand drawn stencils. you don't want to do these in black bc then you can't see properly where you haven't tattooed yet #stencils for actual tattooing are non-black for the same reason #daily life #tattooing

I just wanted to take a minute to talk about why “Of all the creatures I’ve met, you are the kindest.” Is my favorite disco elysium quote.

DE has a lot of fantastic quotes but that one really sticks out to me because of the other options. You can comment on the phasmids beauty or terrifying nature, but to me kindness was her most significant trait. While certainly beautiful and her existence mildly terrifying, her entire being shined with friendliness and warmth.

We navigate this world through Harry, and in the small town of Martinaise, one that’s joked about how hopeless it is, we encounter kindness, hope, and humanity alike through the characters and the community built by them. The game holds these themes very close which is why I love this quote so much. Harry is used to encountering the awful things that life can bring so him choosing to comment on the phasmids kindness made the most sense to me.

Idk at the end of the day I was just fully immersed in that interaction with the phasmid and every quote from it plucked at my heart strings. She truly is one of the kindest characters I have ever had the joy to meet and she is hands down my favorite character in the game. I love Harry, Kim, Cuno, the speedfreaks, Lena, and so many more, but she’s special.

“--Sasha?”

The nickname brought him out of his daze, and Cujo looked up to see Volodya, Makarov looking at him. He swallowed thickly before smiling sheepishly, though the other man would’ve only been able to see the crinkle of his eyes under the black fabric obscuring his face.

“Sorry?” The Russian came easier to Cujo now, and he cursed the flames of satisfaction that licked at his heart when he saw the pride teasing at Makarov’s smile. Cujo sat back and put down the tattoo pen, and as he spoke, he wiped away the excess ink, smearing the black over Makarov’s torso. “If you were saying that you changed your mind, Commander, I’ve already finished. What is it you like to say, timing is everything? Should've spoken sooner, sir.” Cujo’s voice was light as he teased, and his jest was met with a laugh and a swat to the hip. 

“It is promising news for our cause.” Makarov’s accent was considerably thicker than Cujo’s, as it was not marred with the same foreign twinge as his subordinate’s, yet it still carried a familiar tone of amusement as he snarked: “That my own Lieutenant does not listen to me.” 

Cujo rolled his eyes and grinned, ignoring the painful protests of his scars as he did so, and pressed a hand against Makarov’s chest to brace himself as he leaned down to huff in amusement. “Don’t pretend you ever say anything worthwhile during these meetings, Commander.” His gaze flicked around the gulag cell, the dreary walls illuminated by the fluorescent lights flickering beyond the cell door, and his eyes lingered meaningfully on the guard, who was pointedly looking the other way—a small bulge in the pocket of his jacket from the envelope of cash hastily stuffed within. 

Despite the miserable climate, Cujo wasn’t feeling the cold like he should. No, not when he and Makarov were like this. It was selfish, god was it selfish, to indulge like this, but if Laswell probed, he would say it was entirely tactical. But deep down, far down, he knew it wasn’t tactical nor necessary.

There was no tactical gain to Makarov’s hands on his hips, swapping their positions so Cujo was laying on the hard mattress; no necessity when he let his jumper and shirt be discarded; no necessity to the goosebumps that blossomed across his back when Makarov brushed his calloused hands over the flesh to apply the stencil. It was the same one Cujo had been using to ink Makarov’s sternum, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, symbolizing the leader's devotion to his cause and his devotion to the true Russia. 

And as the needle pricked at his nape, Cujo was left in the hum of his own dubiety. 

What was he devoted to? What did devotion mean to a man living in falsehood?

Buying a printer is truly the symbol of late stage capitalism. Every review is like:

"It refuses to scan if your ink has run out" "It's cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace the cartridges." "I tried to use a 3rd party cartridge and it pulled out a gun and shot my wife and my dog."
