First thing first, Coriolanus is in denial (as we all know) of his feelings for Sej. Whether you see them as platonic or romantic, Coriolanus spends the whole book lying to himself and saying things like, "I hate him." Still, one thing he truly hates about him is that he has everything when, in Coryo's eyes, he doesn't deserve it.

So imagine if Sejanus got a girlfriend who's as rich and powerful as him [Sejanus]: Coriolanus would be furious. Why not him? What does Sej have that Coriolanus doesn't other than money?

He'll probably try to "steal you" by showing you what you're missing, though other than by showing off his best looks (he asks Tigris how to style his hair better lmao) he can't do much more. Especially because his wardrobe is limited, and he's too ashamed to undress in front of you (during gym, for example) because of his badly fed body.

He has to be subtle though, because Sejanus still considers him his friend. And Coriolanus would never steal his best friend's girlfriend!

Sejanus is also kind of naïve so if Coriolanus asked to join the two of you on a date or something, he'd probably say yes, thinking Coryo just wants to spend more time with him.

I've seen some fics where Sejanus lets Coriolanus fucks his girlfriend to "teach him" how to please her, but that one's a big no for me. Sejanus' naïve but not that dumb c'mon. Also, he knows how to please you on his own trust me

... but yeah he wouldn't notice if Coriolanus flirted with you. He'd probably think he's just being extremely nice and that's just how he is.

You, on the other hand, after some time understand what Coryo is trying to do. All the compliments he makes, how he's always trying to get your attention... You don't mind it, not really, especially if he's not really that invasive.

He stalks you, follows you home and make sure to go unnoticed so you don't know that.

After maybe, a year? That you and him know each other he'll ask you out.

"So, I was thinking... You and I never hang out together, do we?"

"I mean, we're friends only because you know Sejanus. Why would we?"

His heart broke a little. But you still accept to go out with him, maybe you just hang out in a park for example?

And that's how your relationship works: Coriolanus flirting with you, and trying to (subtly) have you to leave Sejanus. He'll slowly start to try and get more time alone with you, and eventually you'll get close to the point that you're as friends as Sejanus and Coryo are.

Once he gets you to become his close friend (a plan that takes two years minimum tbh. I feel like you and Sejanus started dating at 16, and Coriolanus is a perfectionist. He makes sure all his tactics, every single thing he says to you is carefully planned), this could either go with you leaving Sej for Coryo or stay with Sej. Personally I'd never leave Sejanus if he was my boyfriend BUT leaving this as an """open""" ending so you choose how it goes.

My primary takeaway from these last six episodes is that Hunter and Crosshair ARE SO MARRIED OH MY GOD. They do everything together, even little chores.

And my Crosshair-is-Hunter's-second agenda continues to thrive; since their reunion, Hunter has hardly made a decision without checking with Crosshair first.

The way I cackled at Crosshair looking up at a ship careening in the sky and being all put upon: "Uh-huh. That's the idiot I married. Unfortunately."

And then the way he hurriedly reached for his binocs when they saw the ship crash, and how the camera lingers on him to show his relief, sob. I see you and thank you for your service, shippers on the crew.

Finally a glimpse of the cadets! Thinking about them tasting ice cream for the first time makes me want to cry. How many clones have never tasted it...

I like that "Identity Crisis" was like a mirror of "Confined," but I think it could have been 15 minutes. To be fair to them, I feel this way about like 75% of the franchise.

So we were all very wrong about what was in the Vault. What was Palpatine even going in there for, honestly. I do quite like this foreshadowing of the Inquisitorius though.

The ominous hint about Emerie's past is interesting. Is the implication that Nala Se took Omega under her wing and abandoned the rest of the Omega clones? Like Jango, I guess.

I love that Tarkin's cameos are all about funding. Something about the Imps squabbling over government spending just delights me. I wonder if the end of that conversation actually means he's not going to be killed by the clones but by Palpatine instead? That'd be kind of disappointing tbh.

Hilarious to me that Fennec got an entire episode and Cad Bane got like two minutes of screentime. Like Asajj, he knows when to stay out of the plot. They did my boy Todo justice though, love that dumb droid.

I, a plushie enthusiast, approve of how this is adamantly a pro-plushie show. But how am I supposed to believe that Omega, who missed Lula so much she effectively cloned her, was just going to leave her there??? I guess that whole scene was just a way to remove her and the goggles from the ship before it exploded.

I'm in the middle of writing like five different Tech/Wrecker whump fics and even I wouldn't have written CX-2 effectively shooting Wrecker. My heart!!!

I was so worried about Gonky. Glad he's okay.

"Point of No Return" needed 15 more minutes, actually. I continually find it so jarring how quickly this show breezes through reactions. It would've been nice to see at least a little more from the Batch at the sight of their ship being blown up.

That ending...was not for me. Crosshair missing that shot after he was given an entire episode to figure out what was wrong and meditate is such a frustrating choice. What even is going to be the arc here? Is it really going to be him abandoning his weapon entirely? That should be an upswing in the plot, but at this point it'd be more believable for him to be like, "Man, fuck this, I'm over it," lmao.

I'm glad Omega at least chose to get captured. Everyone knows I've been pissed about the anti-heroic messaging of this show from the start, and given how afraid I was that they would just abandon the other clones, I'm very relieved Omega's had this arc of worrying about them. But it's so silly to retread this line of plot after the three kickass episodes covering this exact thing. These next episodes are absolutely about to be messy af, and it's a bummer how it'll take away from the impressive clarity of the first three.

Why does this show keep cutting the titular team off at the knees?? Seems like Omega will probably work with Emerie and Nala Se to contact the Batch and Echo/Rex with the coordinates, but that will mean that Hunter's group will once again be lost and searching in the meantime. And they didn't even get to find her the first time!

Truly the quintessential fandom show. Half of it makes me tear my hair out in frustration and the other half makes me shriek in delight.

We all just like, had our usual silly banter and then we started passing around someone’s random massage remote and idk it was dumb and stupid, but it reminded me of back then and how much I had fun with my childhood friends during those times

Ahhh, there’s probably so many examples I want to use, but I think this one is one of my top faves! This is from Persona 4 the Musical, which was a fan project done by fans of the game before Atlus had shut it down. Persona 4 is already a game near and dear to my heart, so when I found out about this fan project, I got so excited because I also love musicals so it was like my two favorite things fdjfjfk

It's amateurish I'm not gonna lie, the musical is rough and ready, but the passion is there. You can really feel the spirit of the original game and its story here, especially in the last song "Maybe That's The Point". It would take me too long to explain why it means so much to me, so I'll just show the quote here:

Hi ,yes, I've been thinking about this and I NEED to talk about it even if it may sound a bit dumb in some parts (my brain still isn't working properly ahah) :

I don't think the Metatron did anything to the coffee to manipulate him, which doesn’t mean he DID NOT manipulate him, just not necessarily with magic and miracles.

So i’m pretty sure we all noticed that the discussion between Aziraphale and the Metatron was weird, but I wanted to analyze it as much as I can.

SO... I do think the Metatron manipulated Aziraphale, and he did this by making him think he had a choice in the matter. This happens four times. The first time being,,, with the coffee, like I said I don't think he did something to the coffee (which doesn't mean I completely rule out the possibility) but I do think the coffee is rather some kind of metaphor or just, represent the Metatron manipulations. As far as we know Aziraphale drinks tea and hot cocoa, not coffee, yet the Metatron bring him coffee, something he doesn't want/like, tells him it’s for him, that he should drink it, he doesn’t outright force him, but it’s implied he wants him to do it.

The second time it happens is right after (well technically before AND after), when the Metatron tells Azi they have things to talk about. Aziraphale clearly says he doesn’t have anything to say, yet the Metatron doesn't hear him and right after the little coffee thing takes him to take a little stroll, to talk, he didn’t give Aziraphale the choice to refuse.

Third time is when the Metatron asks Aziraphale for recommendation for an archangel. Aziraphale does give some recommendations but in the end the Metatron doesn't hear it, and just tells him that he should be the one, once again, the choice was already made, he wanted Aziraphale to think he wasn’t being forced into this (i’ll come back to it later)

Fourth time is right at the end of their chat, when Metatron tells him that he doesn’t have to answer immediately and to take all the time he needs to think about this. Right after Aziraphale says “I dont know what to say” the Metatron tells him to go tell his friend the good news, about them becoming angel, even thought a few seconds earlier he had told Aziraphale he didn’t had to agree to it yet and that he could think about it before.

Now I also want to talk about the Metatron and Crowley, I think it’s very clear that the Metatron doesnt like Crowley (just see the look he gave him before leaving the bookshop) and its safe to assume that he knew Crowley wasn’t going to agree to any of this (see the “So predictable” line he says to Nina earlier), so why would he tells Aziraphale to tell Crowley the “good news”. First of all, because if he had just left with Aziraphale, Crowley would have most likely thought that Azi had been kidnapped again (not far from the truth tbh), OR if he had forced Aziraphale to be the supreme archangel Crowley would have known it too, and would have probably tried (and succeeded) to help Aziraphale (we know how much he loves saving him). The Metatron needed them to break up, he needed Crowley to think that everything was over, that Aziraphale had made his choice, and that he DIDNT need saving, AND he can’t have them together, because we saw how strong the miracle they made together was, who know what else they can accomplish together. SO on top of that, the Metatron needs Aziraphale, not bc of his capacity as a leader (which,,, he doesn’t really have honestly), but because he’s easy to manipulate, he still believes in heaven being good and he still believes he can fix it. They saw what happened with Gabriel, who gave up on heaven and armageddon 2.0 because of Beelzebub (which I DID NOT see coming lmao), and they can’t have that happen again

I finished CC3 last night and yeah. I enjoyed the pacing at the beginning of this book more than the first two books because we’re already in the thick of the climax and don’t have to build up suspense again but omg it dragged in the middle.

I did not care for Ithan at all I’m sorry. And yes he hasn’t been a pro sun all player in YEARS idk why she keeps bringing it up. I think someone stumbled and he caught her and Sarah went “his sunball reflexes” HES A WOLF HE WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE QUICK REFLEXES. Had him running up and down to resurrect Sigrid and in the end it DIDNT EVEN MATTER.

Lmaoooo Ithan mostly acted ago appropriate if I think about it. He's like 20 I'm assuming since he's around college age. He's def not my favorite character either tbh. Love how everything fell into his lap tho. Literally anytime he was mentioned so was snuball it was so fucking dumb.

I know you like Tharion but can he do anything right omg. Ithan carried him with the Viper Queen. Sathia carried him in front of the Ocean Queen 😭 I WAS SO PISSED ABOUT THE ANTIDOTES OMG and then Ithan went and did the same. I see why they are best friends like wow stupid really follows stupid.

LMAO I love Tharion, yes he'd definitely dumb and needs to make better decisions but I liked how witty he was in the first book. I don’t hate Bryce. She did annoy me though. I hated when Aelin wouldn’t tell people about her plans and could not stand it from Bryce here. Her yelling at Hunt about having to face the consequences of their actions. I’m like dude you went to another world and came back powered up. Hunt stayed and was tortured brutally like what? I know why she doesn’t want him to have guilt about it but it’s his 3rd time going through this and failing. And now he has more to lose. Of course he would be feeling a type of way.

I do not like her at all lol. The whole not telling people plans things pissed me off because her loud mouth is not like that. AND THEN SHE HAS THE AUDACITY TO TELL HUNT "OH YOU DONT EVEN WANT TO BE HERE" girl maybe if you told someone the fuckin plan they would feel a bit more confident about going through with it for fucks sake. she's a mean girl and i can't stand her and i don't think she's funny at all she is so cringe to me haha. HUNT HAS ALREADY TRIED GOING AGAINST THE ASTERI AND HE WAS TORTURED FOR 200 YEARS?! Then he gets freed and has to do it all over again?! Like, why are we yelling at this man? of course he's weary.

The STAKES???? Bryce should’ve stayed dead! It would have been a lot more impactful. Even the torturing scenes kind of didn’t hit as much after the fact cause everyone can just regrow their limbs and be fine. No one had a single nightmare about what happened to them? I thought we would see something like that beyond “a glimmer of darkness in his eyes” idk :/

The entire "someone dying only to be brought to life on the next page" has definitely fucking worn off now but sjm apparently can't see that. she created a world with 50+ characters only to not use half of them when it matters. so stupid. Also, i don't remember them being able to regrow limbs tbh.

Maybe the book would’ve been too long but I was genuinely shocked we didn’t get more scenes of anyone on the actual battlefield. We were mostly in the palace after Bryce and Hunt teleported, and then the moment with Lidia and the sprites. But maybe the book would’ve been too toooo long idk.

Yeah there really was only like 60 pages of the end scene. but as soon as i saw the word space i actually almost DNFd it because what the actual fuck was that.

I will say I really like how the male friendships are genuine. I honestly can’t tell you that Bryce, Fury, and June are friends LMAO. (I’m exaggerating but I do kinda agree with this) .

Yeah, i love Ruhn, dec, and flynn's relationship. i think sjm tries to be like "oh yeah girl power, strong fmc's" but there's no women in the books? and they all don't like each other? like danika, bryce, fury, and juniper seemed like mean girls? girls that didn't give a fuck about anyone else? idk. the way that the men to women ratio in her books is very interesting to me. and the fack that EVERY man that comes across bryce thinks she's the most gorgeous girl to have ever lived...fuck off with that logic.

My girl Jesiba :////// She was my favorite for sure. I'm indifferent about her lol. Her entire storyline i feel was just made up like two months ago so she could connect to the other series lol

CC anon!! I went to goodreads to read reviews of the book and I genuinely cannot believe how many 5 star ratings this book got. I mean, I can and can’t believe it. Atp anything Sarah puts out will average at least a 4 star rating on there and sell a crap ton.

I think people just give her that rating because she's popular, not because they read lol. oh yeah, why do you think she released 5 different bonus chapters. talk about a greedy cash grab. that mentality kinda makes me sick im not even going to lie.

I was reading through the 2-star reviews and someone mentioned their shock at how quickly Ruhn and Lidia resolved their issues which I totally agree with. She said she hated him and would never forgive him for what he did, and she was right! I know why Ruhn did it, but I genuinely still cannot believe he actually shot her, even if she was gonna be okay. That’s a terrible time to be worrying about a wound like that when you want to be at full strength to fight for your children.

Yeah half of the plot lines felt stupid? like what? he couldn't have stopped her any other way...really? i feel like she did not think this book through as well as she thought she did tbh. seems to be her thing these days.

ESPECIALLY with their bonus scene. Idk if you’ve read it but I was like ??? I like them as a couple and I like their story, but it did seem like it was all patched up insanely quickly. Like if you shot me then the very LEAST you could do is get my kids to safety. That alone would not necessarily make me forgive you.

I didn't read their bonus chapter but i can't believe they moved in with each other literally after like two days of knowing each other in real life. bro, you just found out she has two kids? you don't know the woman at all lol. no, everyone has to have a happy ending by the last page of the book or else. lol. no suspense.

bts on the bachelorette

i really tried to relax for 5 minutes today with some dumb reality TV and then my brain wouldn't shut up. have you ever wondered what bangtan's elimination order would be on a season of the bachelorette???? well wonder no more my friends...

(this started as a headcanon and then morphed into kind of a drabble? tbh i don't even know what's happening here. just enjoy it lmao 😂)

the first one sent home is yoongi - yes, i think my sweet baby boy would get sent home night one. this breaks my heart but i just see him being too reserved, too closed off, not jumping to make a first impression and getting lost in the shuffle. he would ABSOLUTELY be one of those first-eliminated guys who gets a whole legion of fans tho, and they campaign HARD to get his pale ass on paradise 😂 

next to go is seokjin - he would get kept around just long enough to be a villain lmaoooo. the one guy who drives all the others crazy because he’s cocky as fuck about his looks and is NOT here to make friends. i could see jk telling on him to bachelorette and there being a whole dramatic confrontation where she rips the rose out of his hands and says “get the fuck out of here”. he absolutely makes and sells worldwide handsome merch after.

the next one out is jimin - and he's definitely the dude who gets by on sex appeal alone LMAO. the one where bachelorette is like ‘i’m just not sure i have the same connection with jimin’ and then he takes his shirt off and she’s like ‘……i’m sorry can you repeat the question’. they have at least two steamy makeout sessions before she finally has to send him packing tho, good for her 🥰 

the first heartbreaking elimination is hoseok - my love, my angel, hobi is totally gonna end up in the friend zone on a show like this. he’s so caring and subtly sexy but i could see him being more of a support system for bachelorette and the person who brings her the inside scoop on what’s going on in the house. they’d both cry when she eliminates him but he’d be so sweet and understanding and go out of his way to make sure she smiles before he walks out. truly only wants the best for her.

then, the shocking elimination that's teased for weeks: jungkook - when i tell you twitter EXPLODES. you’ll see headlines about this one on the motherfucking NEWS in the morning. doe-eyed, tattooed, sexy shy badboy jk eliminated?!?!??! has the bitch lost her MIND????? but bachelorette just can’t get over the fact that he’s so young, and she’s afraid he’s not ready to make such a serious commitment.

there’s a ton of push-pull where she feels like jk doesn’t “fight for her” enough because he is more reserved, but then he’ll do something competitive and it’s just enough to keep her hooked on him a little longer, until this episode where she finally has to let him go. he definitely has an extended crying montage on the way out/in the car where he says some stuff about how he’d never been in love like this before. omg ouch let’s move on i’m hurt.

WHICH LEAVES THE FINAL TWO!!!!! and bachelorette is so torn!!! 😩

taehyung is gorgeous, romantic, and sensual (insert clip from a date of him feeding her chocolate covered strawberries). he’s an old soul, passionate, but has an extremely dry sense of humor that bachelorette falls HARD for. she loves that they can laugh together, and he isn’t afraid to look stupid or try something new (insert clip of them doing that indoor skydiving thing on a date). and he’s also not afraid to tell her exactly what he wants- marriage, kids, a life with her by his side.

but sometimes he can be hard to read. he’s honestly so good looking it makes her a little insecure, and she just has this nagging feeling like he isn’t quite letting her all the way in....but she can't tell if that's just her own fear about finding a love this intense.

namjoon is intelligent, supportive, and so goddamn sexy (insert clip from a group date competition of him doing pull-ups). bachelorette feels comfortable with him in a way she doesn’t quite have words for. sometimes she swears it feels like she’s met him before in another lifetime, and this is just a reunion. (insert clip from a picnic date where she rests her head in joon’s lap as he reads to her). he’s so well-spoken and such a deep thinker, and the world falls head over heels for the conversations they’re able to have about love, loyalty, identity, emotions.

but she’s not sure she feels the same passion and fire with him that she does with taehyung. namjoon admits outright that he doesn’t know what he wants in life, is unsure about marriage or kids, and when he gets too in his head and insecure about the competition, he can shut her out without meaning to.

we watch with bated breath as bachelorette takes her place at the gorgeous vista decorated for her proposal. everyone who’s seen the show before knows that whoever steps out of the limo first is the one she’s chosen to send home.

hearts shatter nationwide when joon ducks his head to exit the car.

bachelorette stops him before he can even go into his speech, laughs a little to herself: “I know if I let you start talking it’s going to change my mind, so let me go first.” explains that she’s just too scared of his indecisiveness. she’s prone to overthinking herself, so she needs someone who is going to offer stability, someone who is ready and knows what he wants. joon takes it like the gentleman he is, one dimple popping in a sad half-smile, and she presses up on her tiptoes to give him a hug.

which just leaves taehyung. he steps out of the car with a deep exhale, and you can see even from afar that his hands are shaking as he makes his way to bachelorette, mouth dropping open slightly at how gorgeous she looks.

the proposal is like something out of a movie, a long, perfect speech delivered in tae’s shaky baritone as a breeze ruffles through his hair and toys with the hem of bachelorette's dress. he winds back through their time together accompanied by an edited montage, and finally ends with the truth: he knew as soon as he laid eyes on her that this was meant to be, and that she was the one. the music swells as he drops to a knee and pulls out a big-ass diamond ring, and they’re both crying by the time she says yes.

So about Nick's characterization...

I've seen some people talking about how much the characters (in this case especially Nicholas) have changed during volume 1 to 5. I'm probably late to this discussion but I wanted to show a new point of view. There will be major spoilers for Captive Prince and Dark Rise here because I'm comparing all Pacat books. And I will exclude the novels because I don't see them as officially canon.

I once mentioned the similarities between all Pacat love interests (Seiji, Laurent, James) and there are many. But something people forget often: There are a lot of similarities between Pacat's "chosen one" kind of characters too. Nicholas, Damen and Will. And this is the point where I don't believe that C. S. Pacat will dumb-down Nicholas, making him nothing more than a puppy dog or a joke.

(And tbh, even Damen got the puppy-treatment before being able to show his true self. I'm literally quoting the book right now:)

'He looks combative, but he's really very docile and adoring,' said Laurent, 'like a puppy.'

First of all, similarities between the three:

Hiding their true (powerful) self. Nick is actually Robert Coste's son, might even have inherited his fencing skill/speed if that's possible. Damen is the Prince of Akielos. Will is THE Dark King Sarcean.

Started from the bottom and fought their way up. Nicholas is a student with poor living conditions, had to work multiple jobs to make a living for him and his mom. Damen was a slave. Will basically had the same poor living conditions like Nick but no mom or dad (sry Will)

Like their counterparts, they have unbreakable determination. But while Seiji and Co. Have planned their whole life to reach their goal, Nicholas and Co. Are more like an unstoppable train wreck going 300 km/h. (Have you seen Damen charging into battle ready to behead the Regent? Or Will single handedly killing the apocalyptic horsemen dudes (sry forgot the name)? Nicholas gonna steamroll through the fencing community at some point lmao.)

There are more but these are the main points I need to talk about Nicholas's characterization.

Knowing all the similarities and what they achieved (or what they will achieve)? Nicholas is a total badass. Nicholas is young, Fence is a slow burn comic. All together, it's more light-hearted and goofier than Pacat's usual novels. (Which doesn't mean that Pacat doesn't like jokes and goofy-ness at all. I mean, remember Damen starting a tavern brawl while Laurent threw peas at everyone? Yeah. These are the Kings of Akielos and Vere.) I like to think that Nick will slowly become more like Damen, the older and more experienced he gets. Determined and strong but still kind-hearted and a little like the bumbling farm boy next door. Whoever read Capri knows what I'm talking about. Damen is a BEAST. He's strong, he's fast, he's skilled and experienced. I mean, I don't even remember him LOSING one battle during the entire trilogy. But he's also 26 or something. Nicholas will get there. So will Will. Just imagine how powerful he could become once he masters his Dark King powers. Or that one time where coach Williams said that once Nicholas' technique is at the same level as his speed and reflexes, he will be unstoppable? Yeah that was badass.

Another interesting thing about Pacat's books: it always ends with both main characters being equal in some way. Laurent and Damen sharing a throne as the Kings of the same kingdom. Dark Rise isn't finished yet but I get the feeling that it will go from The Dark King and His Boy Toy to equals with the same power. So considering this, just imagine where Fence could go some day.

And everyone started as rivals with one of them hiding who they really are. I understand that some might be sad because we will lose the rivals trope but it's.. Enemies to friends to lovers (and the rivalry has been pretty one sided lmao). The friend and lovers part have to start somewhere. I personally enjoy the development between Nick and Seiji. They still have banter, they still fight over small things, but they also learn to live with one another and appreciate who they are.

There is a beautiful scene from King's Rising that describes Pacat's rivals to lovers trope:

‘When you make love to me like that, I can’t think.’

‘Don’t think,’ said Damen.

Damen saw the flickering change, the tension, as the words provoked an internal battle.

Damen said, ‘Don’t think.’

‘Don’t,’ said Laurent, ‘toy with me. I—have not the means to—defend against this.’

‘I don’t toy with you.’

‘I—’

‘Don’t think,’ said Damen.

‘Kiss me,’ said Laurent. And then flushed, a rich colour.

I think that's where we are heading. Slowly but surely, Nicholas is going to tear down Seiji's walls. Once he doesn't have anything to hide behind anymore, no sharp words, no witty insults, no disgusted sneers, once that's all down.. Then we truly reached the 'lover' part of rivals to lovers. (Is it obvious that I was in the Capri fandom before reading fence...?)

Last but not least, volume 5 was fun. Like super fun. I enjoyed it a lot. Yes, it was very light-hearted without much drama. But GOSH IT REALLY DOES CARVE A PATH FOR VOLUME 6- Every badassery and conflict we didn't get in Rise will definitely come in volume 6. V5 introduced us to so many new characters, so of course there isn't much room for anything else. But the ranked fencing, Eugene being absolutely miserable at the beginning, Nicholas sucking but now practicing new fencing techniques, the rival teams getting used to Seiji's flèche, Aiden hiding his potential skill? That's some A++ foreshadowing. Kings Row might not turn out to be the top school at the end of the camp but God darn they will make a name of themself. I'm just waiting for (fckn) Kyle getting his buttocks whooped by Nicholas once they meet each other on the same piste again. I mean, this is C. S. Pacat. Heroic fights and epic comebacks are his thing. Things will get worse before they get better. Remember when Damen had to fight against another super buff slave while being drugged and in obvious disadvantage? Yeah he friggin crushed it.

At the end of they day, I don't see such an issue with the way Nicholas is portrayed. But I am definitely biased and basing everything on past Pacat books so what do I know? But maybe that's exactly the right thing to do? I have never seen Pacat writing a pure puppy dog character. Especially not his main character. Nicholas was never, is not and will never be something like this in my eyes. The comic is funny and has a lot of jokes but that's a comic typical thing to do, especially considering that Pacat got influenced by Japanese sports anime/manga. But in the end its still a Pacat book and Nicholas will stay a true badass. (Is it obvious who my favorite author is lol?)

kendall absolutely would make it about himself in the sense that he believes that both of them could only possibly be doing it to get back at him for something. how he actually expresses that confusion and anger would be very different depending on where we are in the timeline—just as one example, his reaction before the no confidence vote would be very different than his reaction after the bear hug.

but in general, learning that stewy is fucking his baby brother would piss kendall off to no end. despite all of it, he's still a protective big brother, and I think he'd absolutely believe that stewy was making some kind of play. it'd be difficult for him to believe that stewy could be doing it for any reason besides the money and weaseling his way further into waystar.

but on the other hand, yeah, I think he does feel a bit of possessiveness over stewy, particularly because he's known stewy for so long, and roman was always just a dumb annoying kid, so why should stewy be giving roman attention instead of kendall???? that's not how it's supposed to work. kendall is the one who's supposed to know stewy best.

I think he'd direct his anger more at stewy, because roman has a tendency to close himself off and refuse to acknowledge the subject. and I think kendall would still see it as stewy somehow corrupting roman, despite the fact that roman is a grown ass man who can make decisions for himself (which stewy tells kendall. many times).

having more of a relationship with roman would make stewy see kendall in a different light, I think. like instead of viewing kendall just as his childhood friend and his (on-again, off-again) business partner, that's now his boyfriend's brother, which is a whole new dynamic. and stewy definitely doesn't like being told what to do, so the idea of kendall trying to dictate stewy's relationships would not be a good thing for their friendship lmao.

I also think that roman is much more freaked out about the idea of kendall knowing than stewy is. stewy just doesn't really care all that much. he's gonna fuck who he wants to fuck, and it's not kendall's business. roman on the other hand is terrified of kendall knowing, because he knows how much it will piss him off. roman would very much like to keep his relationship with stewy a complete secret for a lot of reasons, and kendall is just another one on the list.

there's also the aspect of it where roman feels like maybe he's just a stand-in for kendall, that he's stewy's second choice because stewy realized that kendall was never going to have feelings for him like that. and of course roman has been second-best to kendall his entire life, so it doesn't feel good for him to think that it's the same deal with stewy. I posted abt this before but I saw someone on twitter compare stewyroman to laurie and amy from little women, and I think that's almost perfect tbh. and it takes a while for roman to realize that stewy likes him, and likes him for a lot of reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with kendall.

maybe one day far in the future they can reach a point where it feels more normal that roman is fucking his brother's childhood best friend, but it would not be easy to get there lmao

anyway. i’ll go through point by point!

1- totally agree, like come one. bro code. no dating your best friends ex, especially when it ended with your best friend getting his heart broken. you’d just have to be the worst friend and least empathetic person in existence.

2- yeah, considering we see robin and steve talk a lot about their love lives, we can assume she knows most of what went down between them, so i honestly can’t imagine robin being able to see nancy in that way. and i totally agree! nancy needs to be single for a while before diving into yet another relationship. honestly my dream ending for nancy is her being single and working through her trauma.

3- i also can’t really see it in the show. like most of their scenes nancy just looks kinda pissed of at robin, and robin is trying desperately to figure out where she went wrong. it just doesn’t seem like a good dynamic.

4- and yeah, i think steve would react badly for two reasons. the first is him feeling betrayed by robin, that robin would date nancy when she was his first love and his heart was so badly broken, we’re still seeing it effect him. and the second is that he would be worried for robin. he knows robin is anxious about how she rambles and acts, and he knows nancy, and i think he would know that nancy wouldn’t have much patience for it. and i do think that he would be worried about robin getting her best broken too. and i hate any fics where the basis is people make fun of steve together, and steve’s best friend and his ex that broke his heart teaming up to call him an idiot would honestly drive me into a frothing at the mouth rage, which is why i don’t read those fics! lol

The discussion of what would’ve happen if for some reason there was no Dance and Rhaenyra came to the throne is on again on Twitter, many are now agreeing that there would any sort of new conflict, even if Rhaenyra didn’t want it and tried to be a peaceful ruler (which I doubt ‘cause she doesn’t know the first thing of ruling) principally because of Daemon because he like to cause trouble and problems for everybody and their mothers; but that’s not the important thing in this (for me); Rhaenyra’s technically legitimate heir is Aegon III and that would be a problem to Jace and the String kids because Daemond would play his cards against them (and he wouldn’t be on the wrong at least on the eyes of the lords of the realm, his children do are legitimate at least on the books; show Rhaenyra has practically only bastards).

Putting that aside; do you thing that Aegon and Helaena would still be forced to marry or would Alicent choose someone else like a Hightower cousin or Cregan (just because everyone thing he is the epitome of a good men; he got three wives and that caused his on succession crisis) or would she choose some other fate for her like being a silent sister or septa?

Aemond would probably be more free of choosing his partner or destiny, I think, so does Daeron. And Aegon probably would keep being him but with less stress on him .

I do think that who ever they married they still would be in danger of Daemon coming after them and their children; specially if any of the boys have a son that was legitimate.

Plus I think that Targaryen’s where kind of dumb for never tying the largest part of the Seven kingdoms (The North) to the throne, like at some point just honor is not enough for maintaining loyalty, you need something that has weight; lol it would be funny if Aemond or Daeron ended married to a Stark and that caused to the North being loyal to the greens (I just love my Starks)

Imo multiple things about Rhaenyra’s situation can be true. It can be true that many people in the realm would have looked down on having a queen rule, and that in a feudalistic society - patriarchy and misogyny reigns supreme. That’s not fair. Just like it can be true that Rhaenyra fucked up royally by having not one, but three bastards (technically five in the show lmao). She royally fucked up by having her brown haired strong boys (named Jacaerys Lucerys and Joffrey) then turning around and having super blonde targs named after kings.

Rhaenyra was set up to fail by even being named heir tbh, knowing the precedent that had been set by her own father becoming king over rhaenys. It was going to be an uphill battle regardless of whether it was the Hightowers or any other family. Or if she assumed the crown.

Anyway I just wanted to get that out the way because people chalk up everything wrong in Rhaenyra’s life to the greens when half of her problems come from her (and viserys) giving them ammunition and emboldening them through their stupid decisions.

As for the marriage piece, in the book it is said Viserys wanted Aegon and Helaena married to each other. The steps are bit more dubious in the show. I’m of the belief if it was possible to keep Helaena in particular, bc that’s her baby and she’s clearly anxious about her daughter in specific :(, close and married off to someone other than her brother, Alicent would have done it. Probably same with Aegon. His marriage would been of the upmost importance. They actually had a lot of opportunities to create alliances with having a girl and three boys. With the way Aemond was basiclaly offered up to the baratheons, it makes think the same would’ve happened to the other kids if given the chance

It’s funny you mentioned cregan, bc though I don’t mind him as a character and I’m interested to see where they take him the show, the way people talk about him… as if he is the stark to end all starks 💀. I saw a tweet talking about how people only speak about him that way because of the targaryen connection. I can’t help but agree :/. Like you mentioned, he creates his own mini succession crisis. Cregan and jace technically do bind the starks and targs together. “Regardless, Lord Cregan and Prince Jacaerys reached an agreement, known by Munkun as the Pact of Ice and Fire, which stated that the future firstborn daughter of Jacaerys would one day marry Cregan's son, Rickon. Cregan pledged his support to the blacks.”

That’s sort of just dropped when jace dies, and not followed up at all with rhaenyra??

Ellard Stark supported rhaenys (it was really more laenor’s) claim and the starks swore to Rhaenyra, I can kind of see why the greens didn’t try that. But imo the staunchness of the starks supporting ANY targ in this situation is weird to me. Whether it be Rhaenyra or Aegon. I understand the idea of wanting northern inclusion fomr greens/black standpoint… but I also don’t get it?? from the northern stand point. Idk it would’ve made more sense to me if they took the dornish/independent approach and just watched the targs slaughter themselves.

still thinkin about the vampire pred scenario I'm poking at writing..... uh.... lazy vampire pred and human (? or maybe some other creature?) partner

the human usually tricks and lures other unwitting humans in for their vampire partner to drain, human is kind of a sadistic prick but is very tender with their partner. n likes making the vampire all happy and warm and full and affectionate

idk. I do have a soft spot for all the horror and fear and spiciness that goes into vampires feeding and the traditional draining-victims-of-blood scenarios of course but can dip into something more vore-ish, soft and/or hard

the partner devising a method of catching and shrinking human victims (what? how? is that realistic? no the whole scenario is a vehicle for gratuitous vore, leave me alone lmao), realising that if draining a victim of blood and life force gives the vampire so much pleasure and nourishment, then being able to swallow and make use of multiple Whole People might be even better

the vampire can just stuff himself full of prey and digest them for all their life force in one hit. much, much more satisfying and rewarding meal. and the human partner gets off on seeing the little victims struggle and plead as the vampire just lazily gulps them down and likes to rub the vampire's belly and listen to the screams

n you already know I'm a sucker for sharp fangs on a pred too of course

lots of good soft vore n fearplay potential, with an indifferent casual/happy pred and a cruel uncaring..... observer....? but also because it's vampires there's some VERY delicious potential for hard vore stuff too with like

also vampire hypnotism?? I always love the idea of a giant vampire pred just hypnotising a bunch of people to just feed themselves to him or feed each other to him. peak laziness. easiest job in the world. just opening wide and letting his food wander straight into his mouth. mmm

yeah the story is just an excuse for all my favourite stuff rolled into one, very dumb and self-indulgent. fangs! soft vore! hard vore! blood drinking! bite kink! and the lovely juxtaposition of the shrunken human victims in absolute terror as they're toyed with and gobbled up vs the two partners just being so snuggly and affectionate and cheery with each other and having such a nice time

(also I imagine the human partner just sneaking one of the tiny humans to swallow themself right at the end just to see what all the fuss is about, and finding the sensation of fluttering panicked movement in their belly so peculiar fjdksljd. the vampire just being like "hey that was mine :(". and the vampire and the human curling up together all snuggly and warm to sleep and digest together. vampire purring and full and relaxed and the human continually poking at their stomach because they're so amused by the feeling of live prey)

Wait actually about scum villain I wanna put my review of it down bc I did end up caving several months ago and like sooorta read it so I’d at least have some idea what ppl were talking about and I do like a lot of the fanart of it I see. Like tbh 80% of it was kind of boring or made me uncomfortable so really I did just skim a lot of it but I did have fun with the other 20% lol ig.. but to start with the bad.. like you know I hate teacher student relationships so for really a lot of the bingqiu scenes I was skimming and pretending that all it was was just platonic. Like I do like sqq I think he’s funny and I know he’s too dense to figure out that he’s not straight but reading him call lbh (his 14 years old student!!!) a little sheep all the time and babying him and then knowing how it goes just! Makes me uncomfy! Like not everything has to be a romance and it would be much more interesting and not weird to me if this wasn’t a romance between them, even if they only get together when they’re both adults. And don’t even get me started on lbh. Like again. I like him. But he is just a walking red flag like I don’t think there’s anything wrong with writing characters who aren’t like. Healthy perfect people obviously but just idk I don’t like, think it’s cute or funny or whatever to have a character be like you’re mine and no one else’s and that possessiveness is just treated as a joke and something for sqq to just have to accept in the end. And a lot of the scenes that didn’t make me uncomfortable I was just so incredibly bored. If you asked me what happened in any given arc I could honestly not really tell you 80% of the time.

Now let’s get into the ✨misogyny ✨ like I know that’s a given with this genre and author but it’s still annoying. Like I was prepared to really like the little demon girl and the girl with the veil and the other girls but they were just like. There ig. Like HONESTLY….. the best female character imo was lbhs mom and she wasn’t even PRESENT in the actual story. But anyway. One thing that annoyed me is, that they only have one (1) female sect leader, and one (1) female head disciple in the 12 peaks, but they don’t even have the dignity of competing against men to gain these positions, mxtx does the cowardly thing and just makes them heads of an all female sect. All the other sects, which are presumably coed (tho iirc nyy is the ONLY female disciple of sqqs sect and I don’t remember there ever being any female disciples of Jiang cheng 1.0’s sect) are all led by men and their best disciples are boys. It’s so incredibly lazy and annoying. And this female sect isn’t even ranked highly on the peaks either. Like what’s the ranking criteria and why are they ranked so low? Huh? Mxtx? Like I get this is a satire of a really bad stallion novel but seriously? Mxtx? You couldn’t even include one female character in a position of power without also being a servant/subordinate/lower ranked to some men? And Because like that demon girl was leader of that demon invasion or whatever but the impression I got was that she was impulsive and stupid to do that anyway and she’s just a subordinate to like lbh and mbj like I didn’t even get the impression that she was that important. And I’m not saying with this that all female characters have to be ~girlbosses~ like I know that’s not the pinnacle of feminist writing and I don’t WANT everyone to be “girlbosses”, like I love Jiang yanli, despite her not being “powerful” and I think what little story she had was very nice up until her dumb fridging, but like it’s just showing that the only female leaders there are are leaders over other women ONLY. But like basically. None of these female characters had any like story to me they were just THERE. (Except lbhs mom she was rly cool but even in that case still). Oh also like the funniest 🙄 thing was when they went into so much detail during that little tournament thing they had during the demon invasion of the male fights and then they made the two girls fight against eachother (because god forbid a girl fight against a guy and win) and all that was said about it was like.. it wasn’t interesting at all so moving on.

Also the constant feminizing of sqq. Like again. I know that’s a given with this genre but it’s still so ugly and homophobic.

Now the WORST offender. That™️ sex (read: rape) scene. No. Bye. Completely skipped as soon as I realized what was going on. Spiritually barfing the entire time. While I do think Getting Possessed By Evil Sword And Slowly Being Corrupted And Goingb Crazy is extremely fun to read YOU DID NOT HAVE TO MAKE IT SEXUAL. IM GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU MXTX. Anyway. Moving on.

And to the things I liked. in no particular order:

1) lbhs family and backstory: I rly liked the story of his parents. Tho the dad is. A really bad dad if you can consider him a dad at all, but he’s interesting due to his relationship with lbhs mom and his love of humans in the past, (and also how he cares for snek guy hehe) which turned into bitterness when lbhs mom seemingly betrayed him, but then it was revealed that she really did love him and sacrificed herself to save lbh. Like I’m not a fan of the dead mom trope in general but I did really like her and idk this particular story just clicked with me more than others ig idk why. I liked it. And also since the dad demon was so absent from lbhs life up until then to me he just seemed like another antagonist instead of another Abusive Dad™️ Character, who I always hate lol. Kinda like how I see darth Vader you know? He wasn’t a good dad but I wouldn’t really consider him a dad at all tbh? Anyway yeah I liked those I think.

2) moshang. Okay I went into this liking moshing from all the fanart and the idea of god marrying the dude he created in the image of the perfect guy while being a weird little hamster of a man himself is super funny, also the demon tits, anyway idk where I was going with that, but! I was rather disappointed that they were barely in the book. I was ALSO disappointed but not surprised to read that mbj was actually physically abusive towards sqh. Though, and I’m gonna be honest because I might not have read this super in depth and I might be misremembering things, but! There’s a but. The impression I got? Was that that’s just how demons treated subordinates? So it wasn’t really something personal at the time? It’s shitty of course and there’s no excuse for it but it didn’t have the same connotations to me as two people in a relationship would have and one was physically abusive then. And after sqh finally said enough and walked away, it seemed to me that mbj realized he fucked up and tried to be better? And I feel like all this happened before there was any feelings exchanged on mbjs end. Tho maybe I’m dreaming that up bc as im writing this it seems to good to be true for an mxtx book lmfaooooo. But anyway. I do still kinda have a bias towards them. Just because hulking powerful intimidating demon man marrying a weird little guy™️ who also happens to be God is SOOOOO funny to me

3) punishment protocol - that was fucked up bro. Next

4) system and sqq - hilarious. Next.

5) repairing relationships that were originally sucky in the pidw thing. Idk it makes me feel good. Like sqq stumbling across Jiang cheng 1.0 in qi deviation and accidentally saving him and now Jiang cheng 1.0 is like. I Will Now Die For You. Heh. Idk I like stories of loyalty and where people are able to get along.

6) going deeper into the pidw characters and how the sqq just totally ensued up fixing what was wrong with the pidw book and with his fix-it, it ended up being something that sqh could be proud of and what he originally wanted to write but didn’t because of the pressures of the audience. I thought that part of the ending was very satisfying and wrapped up nicely

7) the chase/fight in that tomb and the coffin thing. The suspense of that part was fun

8) snek!! He was cute

9) and of course.. airplane bro and cucumber bro. I love them. Everything about them. They’re such clowns.

and ok. when i first saw it the minghao thing was really disappointing to see and i know that this is said all the time but it doesn’t make it less true ,,,, east/southeast asian culture tends to carry the sentiment that being bigger is inherently bad and it’s not surprising that there was a clip of him saying those things and repeating that rhetoric when its the culture he was raised in.

BUT. THIS IS A REALLY BIG BUT. i also heard people saying that it was a mistranslation and the clip that went viral is actually not showing the full context? (p.s i don’t want to seem like i’m defending him or excusing minghao if he really did say those things but i’m just relaying what i’ve seen!) but basically the translation on the video kind of misconstrues what minghao was saying. the full context was that minghao was asked what advice he would give someone who was skinny and wanted to gain weight, and then asked for advice for someone chubby who wanted to lose weight. minghao then says that what’s most important is loving yourself, because when you love yourself you can know what’s best for yourself, whether it be exercising to gain, lose, or maintain your weight. and that initial thing where he says “stop eating” is said like . jokingly/sarcastically, because the host had previously said that he lost 15kg in one month from not eating and minghao was just referencing that again (and also after he says the joke he gets serious and says that this sort of thing was something he can’t just say carelessly, which is why he goes onto explain his actual answer and advise). the overall message he was trying to say was to love yourself no matter what size you are.

even so, i doubt minghao is completely guilt free in what he said (even if he didn’t mean it like that), especially since he’s still implying there’s a certain “body type” that’s considered healthy(?). but again, if it comes out that minghao really did say it like that then i’m disappointed but not really surprised, but also i think we shouldn’t jump to conclusions before getting all the facts straight :’)

OMG I have so many soapboxes here, where do I even begin?? I will give you a laundry list

- Black Butler occupies this really weird place where the subject matter is incredibly dark and yet the tone is light and feels like it’s initially aimed at younger audiences. It’s something I have a lot of mixed feelings about! Because on the one hand jfc it really should not be shown to younger people. The earlier arcs especially are just really hijinksy (despite the backstory consistently being real grim) and then we get to BoC where it’s like “Ciel gets triggered so bad he decides to immolate a bunch of orphans! anyway!” like ???

But also I did personally get into it back in the day as a baby and latched on pretty hard because there’s fucking nothing out there about CSA survivors. Even now tbh? And idk it’s nice to have something with a survivor protagonist where trauma is intrinsic to the storyline while also not being overpowering/the only aspect of the narrative. It’s still a story about dumb mysteries and idk supernatural bullshit. Idk, I just wish it was more even handed in letting the audience know what kind of content to expect and also less… creepy…

- That paired with how impossible the anime is to get into, and the endless filler have really contributed to the IP just being run into the ground. Like the anime at this point is kind of just catered to existing fans. It’s already demonstrably unlikely for uninvested new people to sit through the really bad early art and weird non canon filler content in the early seasons, and a *series* ending to then jump to an entire new timeline that retcons 90% of what previously happened lmao. Meanwhile manga fans are less active because we’ve been dragged through the same fucking storyline for 5+ years at this point and there’s only just been any real movement. And like Yana is clearly putting in less effort bc of TWST (which fair, Disney’s where the money is) but yeah no fucking wonder it’s all downhill.

- 2CT was terrible writing (the way NO ONE ever mentioned a dead sibling??) but it was hilarious and also Yana Toboso’s best writing choice in this series ahgsjgd

- FUCK Sebastian! Hate that bitch! Also want to see him be more evil ASAP. It’s really funny when fans get like. upset. that he’s doing demon shit. Anyway I can’t believe we see that his true form is gelatinous eldritch eye blob (gee that sounds familiar lmfao) and it came up ONCE and never again! I demand body horror

- I know I’ve already told you this but season two was bad but Alois was good!! He used to be pretty controversial before, but atm the fandom mostly seems to like him? Finally some good taste. Also I’m forever upset that Yana apparently considered writing him into the Weston arc and then didn’t? We were robbed.

- LBR we’re never getting a Weston arc adaptation…

Grishaverse:

- I’ve somehow managed to immediately dislike any ship LB has tried to make endgame. Idk I just do not like how she handles endgame ship conflict— it’s always very Gender Roles ime? Like exhibit A is Malina’s everything.

And then Kanej (rip I know it’s both the fan favorite and your favorite) is very cut and dry goodhearted girl demands cruel dude to change. And like it was. fine I guess? I’m not meaning to insult them by including them with Malina lol but it was just boring and not my thing. And it didn’t help that Inej kept being taken hostage, hurt, or somehow threatened to spur Kaz into action. Like I don’t think it was done in a particularly bad way! It just personally put me off the ship.

Then with Zoyalai it’s like slightly better where Nikolai entire thing is like “I am a wilting flower within a gilded cage! I must marry for politics but I would like to marry for love. Specifically my hot gruff general who doesn’t seem to give a damn about me 🥺” Like that is a FANTASTIC basis tbh? But then you already know how I feel about her throwing his father’s portrait into the fire. And then the bit where Zoya has to be in mortal peril for Nikolai to learn how to control his demon completely killed it for me.

- LOL well I don’t think there’s been a truly good wrap up in this series yet? LB is good at throwing things on the page that feel conclusive/follow face value beats. But I can’t think of a single book, let alone series wrap up, that actually tied things up well.

S&B, literally the first book, comes the closest imo? And that’s partly because it’s definitively not a wrap up, it’s obviously the start of a larger story. Also points taken off for the climactic choices about mercy having fuck all to do with anything the earlier story laid out.

After that, I think it’s a tie between CK and RoW for best wrap ups? And that’s not saying much, I didn’t really like what she did with either of them structurally, thematically, or just like on a content “where are the characters at?” level. Again, I think she only understands tropes and recurring beats in endings without fully getting the function of what makes them work and why. (an example being both the SoC duology and TGT operating on an “ending right where you started” circular arc to varying degrees of um. arguable. success)

I might be slightly crankier about this because I haven’t the read the books in awhile lol. I tend to remember things either with undue generosity or ire 😂 But yeah tldr on grishaverse wrap ups: I don’t like them!
