tagged by @junemermaid, no-pressure tagging anyone who would like, because I have no idea who's seen and either done or passed on this one lately. PLEASE PLEASE DO IT AND BLAME ME IF YOU HAVE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST INCLINATION, I love seeing these things, I'm just brain-dead re: tagging today. 💙

1. Vakarian makes Shepard feel old.

Chicory, Mass Effect, Weaver Shepard, not on AO3 yet because I'm trying to turn it into a series of first/early impressions of the ME1 crew from Shepard's perspective. But then I've done Kaidan's first impression of Shepard already, so I can't decide if I should do her version of that or figure out another one. But also should I add Joker? I should always add Joker. But then in what order? (You can see the overthinking process here, can't you?) SOMEDAY I WILL WRITE WEAVER & TALI AND IT WILL BE DELIGHTFUL. She adores Tali. But also wishes to keep her safely in engineering 99% of the time. BUT ALSO...

2. Emmett had known that he would see her.

Almond Blossoms, 7kpp, Emmett/Sheltered Princess & a lot of chaperone POV's. Also I posted that in September last year so this is clearly going to be a little depressing in terms of my ongoing 'am I a writer anymore?' existential crisis

3. “Don’t move.”

Never Again, Shadowhunters, Malec, sort of omegaverse, sort of weird magic bonds, a very belated prompt fill from the @knotinmyname anti-ai-scraping event.

4. The Matchmaker may have announced them, they may consider themselves engaged, this might be exactly what they should be doing as these connections are exactly what the Summit claims to be for… but Nathalie’s a 'known’ seductress and suspected murderer, but Clarmont’s only 'allowed’ here for the Royal Family to keep an eye on him, to make sure he knows how generous they are being with their mercy.

Relief, 7kpp, Clarmont/Ambitious Widow (Revaire feels!). Yes, that is just one sentence. Yes, I did that on purpose. No, I probably shouldn't have, but idc. 😅

5. Alec hasn’t even been Marked, still technically a fledgling rather than a Shadowhunter, when he learns that most nephilim can’t hear their weapons sing.

untitled eldritch angel powers prequel, Shadowhunters, Alec Lightwood & Politics is my jam, even when he's like 10 or something. As is weird magic and angel lore that I get to make up! Not on ao3 because I think it's going to be in a bigger thing, but I haven't actually done it yet, but I also get really tired of trying to rearrange my AO3 stuff because then I lose links and comments and brain power that should have been used for maybe writing something again some day.

6. All the dealers know Magnus’ name.

Fluff for @foodsies4me! Malec Auctioneer AU on the floor because it made me smile. (I used to be an auction block clerk.)

7. A familiar flare lit up his apothecary, and Magnus reached out to catch the fire message.

working title is 'wtf the clave is competent' and this is another playing-with-lore Shadowhunters prequel (that will eventually be Malec) started off via a Tangential Tuesdays prompt (which is a thing I would like to properly do again, but I keep not writing which makes it tricky)

8. An Omega heir to two old bloodlines in line for a Headship was something the Nephilim hadn’t seen in almost a century, and ought to have been prestigious enough for Alec to have chosen any path or mate he wanted. [x]

9. That was Magnus. [x]

These are both omegaverse prompts for the aforementioned anti-ai event and actually posted on time last June. Both Shadowhunters and Malec and just little bits and pieces of almost things. And fun on their own, imo, but. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

10. Cullen thought he’d gotten used to seeing this new Hawke in Haven.

Gladiolus, Cullen/Hawke, Dragon Age: Inquisition (Hawke as Inquisitor). Another prompt fill, a ficlet for a collection I have on AO3; its continuing existence is almost entirely @jadesabre301's fault.

Well, picking chapters and scenes posted on tumblr rather than my ao3 was probably good for my sanity, since my ao3 is a bit of a mess.

I seem to start with very declarative sentences this past year or so: we are here and this is what we're dealing with. Which is not... how I have previously concluded this meme, but I'm not sure that it's really any different than usual, just more obvious. It's a habit developed, I think, in writing relatively short-fic and also playing with lore or setting, because I very much need to set up my framework if I want anyone else to follow it.

I definitely should try and play some ME and/or watch some Shadowhunters and clean up some of the bits that I would really really like to have as finished stories though. This has successfully reminded me that I do, in fact, usually like writing and still think like a writer, so that's probably good!

2022 BL ROUNDUP PART 3

Hey y'all, I've seen everyone doing their top 22, 20, 15, 10, and 5 BLs of the year and I didn't want to do a ranking! I just want to do a quick rundown of everything I watched and how I feel about it now! This is gonna be multiple posts! But I'll post them all at the same time.

The one Pinoy BL, Japanese, and Taiwanese BLs I watched this year + some honorable non-BL mentions.

Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But To Kiss! (Japan) I actually didn't finish it. I think I had 1 or 2 eps left. It was cute, from what I remember, but it wasn't like outstanding. I loved literal take on polar opposites. The main pair was very cute and there was a huge penguin. I might finish it someday. IDK.

Old Fashion Cupcake (Japan). My fave Japanese BL of the year. Cute food dates, pining idiots, company men, totally normal age gap. It was a great series. I loved every single thing about it. 10/10. Would recommend everyone watch it.

Takara-kun to Amagi-kun (Japan). Loved it. It was a sweet story. The mains were SUPPOSED to be carrying on a secret relationship but they were trash at hiding it. It was very obvious they were together, they spent damn near all their time together. The kids at their school just minded their own business which is probably why they were able to keep the secret so long. I love those boys.

Cherry Magic the Movie (Japan). Someone leaked the movie like a month ago and I ran to go watch it. It was really cute! So sweet! AND WHOLESOME! I missed Adachi and Kurosawa. I wasn't expecting for it to be so soft! AND THEY GOT MARRIED (spoiler alert)

Gameboys 2 (Philippines). 10/10. I love my boys so much. Gameboys is seriously underrated and it annoys me. Great lgbtq representation, excellent support from side characters, relevant discussions (coming out, LDR, toxic family members, trauma). The mains have beautiful chemistry. Like what more could you ask for??

Plus & Minus (Taiwan). I dropped this and came back to it. The series is good but the conflict towards the end felt completely unnecessary. The main couple was really cute. We love a good besties to lovers story. The side couple was cute. We also love a good single dad falling for the local playboy story. Also that series had a TON of cameos from actors in other Taiwanese BL series.

About Youth (Taiwan). Oh it was so cute. Both couples had great chemistry and the storylines were interesting. The main couple had more of a puppy love thing going on, they became friends first and then boyfriends. They openly supported each other and dealt with annoying family members together. The side couple kind of had to deal with a rebound issue since one of them was in a relationship right before getting together. I think it was a good watch.

Honorable mentions:

Kei x Yaku: Dangerous Buddies. It was a bromance but very queer. One of the mains was a canon bisexual. They lived together, were very protective of each other, and went bonkers when the other was hurt. They calmed each other down and worried about each other a lot. They had insane chemistry and were very much vibing through the whole series.

Heartstopper (UK). Not technically a BL but a queer English series. Very cute with excellent LGBTQ representation. 10/10. It was picked up for another 2 seasons.

Young Royals 2 (Sweden). I liked it. My only issue was that it focused more on the het couple than the actual main pair. I didn't like either of the characters from the het couple. It featured a closeted lesbian and I wanted more from her storyline because she was in love with her best friend. I wanted more of everyone except the het couple idc.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

publicly associated with my account, 45. in total, including a couple i orphaned before i knew you could put them on anon, 84 i believe. 85 if you count the two chapters of that leakira zine i wrote that are up there somewhere. i could be off. but i forgot how to get to where it shows me the total number and i can't be bothered lol.

2. What's your total A03 word count?

438,464 baby. maybe 500k in 2024? who knows.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

ones 90% of you have never heard of, at this point. it fluctuates depending on whatever i'm getting ideas for, but actively at the moment, the mullverse (mostly beyonders), resident evil, and lockwood & co, national treasure (might be done with that tho, i've exhausted my must-writes). i have other stuff knocking around, like life is strange, mona lisa smile, mlp, some more shazam, bendy and the ink machine, a tlou fic...but who knows.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

ugh. 1. in this fearful fallen place (i will be your home) 2. welcome home, theseus 3. sanctuary 4. i'll carry the weight of you, i swear 5. eat you alive. it says a lot that only one of those is still publicly listed on my profile. even then i'm tempted to put it on anon. they're only my top kudos'd by virtue of being from a big fandom. definitely not my best. at all. even within that fandom. free me and my stats page.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

not all of them, but i make an effort when comments are thoughtful or especially brighten my day. it's easier now because writing for smaller very niche fandoms you don't tend to get a lot so i don't feel overwhelmed or anything, but man responding is hard sometimes. i want people to know they made me happy, though, when they do. so i try.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i mean there's that tododeku one where they both die brutally and were supposed to get married next week. there's also the batcat fic that i wrote solely for the purpose of killing bruce wayne (sorry). there's um. also the klance titanic (historical not titanic the movie) au i wrote ages ago. haha. yeah. anyway.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

all of them. hfdsjkhfs no i honestly couldn't tell you. i have a mike flanagan-ass idea of a happy ending these days. maybe three's a crowd? hell if i know.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i've had a couple instances of people harassing me over them but never like. "your fic is so bad i hate it die". so maybe?? i'm too obscure to be getting hate at this point lol. who out here is gonna read beyonders fic just to comment mean things.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do not. i did try years ago. that notebook has since been put through the shredder and dumped into the recycling bin for good measure. (yes, it was that bad.)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

technically no but i've thought about it sometimes. they've all promptly fled my head though so just trust me on this one.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

gee i hope not. there's been a lot of suspicious similarities in some old cases but like. that literally does not matter to me anymore idc. it's not straight up theft in any case so not to my knowledge ig?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

again not to my knowledge but i do have blanket permissions for that if anyone ever wanted to. it's cool.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

back in the 2010s my friend and i were writing a warriors fic together. she did one chapter, i did one, etc. i've had collaborative aus as well (cat's cradle and whatnot) but not a collaboratively written fic for any of them. me and tam were writing the coma au together but we're no longer in the fandom for that anymore, rest in peace coma au you were genuinely wonderful. i'm not opposed to the idea of collab fics but they always feel like a lot of work and i'm way way way too anxious to approach anyone about them.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

ah hell. i dunno. do i have to pick one?? like right in this moment i'd say locklyle and they've been here a hot minute (like. ten years almost) but i don't really have A Favorite I'd Choose Over Anyone Else.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

mm. penumbra anastasia au haunts me. i want it out of my wips folder. also wild geese is probably never getting finished ever. i do think i'll get split ends done eventually but that one's taking forever. as for ones not posted, well, rip the gospel tent au. i might try to convert it to a short story but lord. i don't know. and don't get me started on the final girl au or the empty grave possession au. throwing myself out a window. they'll never be done i'll never be free.

16. What are your writing strengths?

uh. i honestly don't know anymore. knowing exceedingly tedious canon details to the point where i can make all sorts of metaphors and allusions relevant to said canon? i really couldn't say. introspection i guess.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

yes. next question

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i have an overbearing anxiety that i will fuck it up somehow since i am a monolingual american loser. if i ever did need to i would definitely see if there's any native speakers willing to help translate or whatever bc i am not relying on google translate for that.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

like liv, lord of the rings. i still have my first fanfic btw. it's written on tinkerbell notebook paper.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

it changes. if i were to be completely objective (or as close as i can get), completely removing my emotions on fandom from the equation, prob without anesthetic. because i think i constructed it just right. being a dirty little subjective, right now i think it's three's a crowd or swallowing jupiter or the swing of things. they're all wonderfully unhinged.

(OMORI SPOILERS!!!)

idk if this has been brought up before (it probably has but idc i love this game and i WILL rant whether you like it or not) and if its already super obvious to everyone but me when i first got into the game, but a cool little detail i like about omori is the parallels between aubrey and sunny. specifically, their very similar reactions in an argument under a lot of stress.

sunny had been under a lot of stress on the day of the recital, being unable to get the part right and disliking the violin because of how it took away from him getting to spend time with his friends. under that stress, he ended up throwing his violin down the stairs in the argument with mari. mari, obviously, gets angry (not really blaming her though, it’d be a normal reaction), and sunny, not seeing mari be angry before, gets even more stressed. when she gets in his way when he tries to run, he unconsciously reacts and then as we know, pushes her down the stairs which results in the whole incident. he didn’t want to hurt mari. he never would have wanted to kill her. but he was under pressure and his fight or flight reacted before he could know what he was doing. he just wanted to push her out of the way so he could leave.

aubrey does a really fucking similar thing. she was under stress at the lake. kel’s blaming her and not understanding her, and villainizes her. sunny, who hasn’t left his house in 4. FUCKING. YEARS. suddenly is back out of the blue and had fucking. stabbed her??? out of nowhere during a fight??? goddamn. basil, who she’s already had her issues with, was just screaming for help which is getting her in trouble (and she doesn’t know why he was screaming for help in the first place bc she hadn’t even done anything to him then), is also there, and he’s technically the reason sunny and kel had just fought her in the first place. she’s overwhelmed by all this, and when basil tries to talk to her and gets closer, she reacts and pushes him into the lake. her fight or flight reacted before she could know what she was doing. she wasn't thinking about how he couldn't swim. she didn’t want to push basil into the lake. she just wanted him to go away.

the difference between the 2 of them was that aubrey got so much luckier, with hero coming just in time to save basil. she had her chance to make up for it and apologize to him. she doesn't have to live with the guilt of having actually killed someone. poor 12 yr old sunny never got that lucky.

neither of them meant to hurt someone. neither of them wanted to hurt someone they cared about. they were just under pressure and pushed into a stressful situation. sunny's just ended so, so much worse than aubrey's. (i just feel bad for them both. i love them so much. i want them all to be happy again </3)

(this also feeds into my delusion that aubrey would forgive sunny, at least eventually. bc she did the same thing. she just got lucky. i like to think she'd at least eventually realize that and kind of empathize with him. he never got the opportunity that she got. and what's worse, the poor guy was only 12. </3)

im literally like crichton at the end of the finale now (fr struggling to putwords together) but i was being patient and polite with d'argo and chiana but

rightso ifr am struggling with putting things into words tonight i feel fucking . braindead and have done for the past two nights

BUT this is one thing i can sorta express i think like

firstly: i totally dont buy the marriage thing sorry. i dont get why theyre rushing this relationship so much. i just dont fucking buy any bit of it & idc... LOL... LIKE-

im not even against-against them (or i wasnt). BUT i think chiana and d'argo could work if done right, ive said that. or at least theyd be an interesting exploration even if they didnt end up together-together. i can see a version of events and miscommunication, done right, where they do gravitate towards each other since theyre travelling in close quarters like that and they have the wrong expectations and theres fallout and such- but all the way up to marriage? i dont know... i do not see it... like

i can seeeee chiana maybe panicking and just. agreeing to marriage even if she doesnt actually yknow with d'argo but i dont see d'argo proposing this fast. like this is crazy..... give it more than like. half a season of fucking background work, holy shit, yknow? eve n if theyhave been through so much together, like... i think i heard they got married at some point but i seriously expected that to be like s4- bringing it up now?

i dont know how old jothee is. sigh. + i think, even if we did have an exact number... WELL thatsa whole other ramble, but tbh one of my pet peeves in sci fi is people insisting that alien ages would always strictly correspond exactly to human ones wrt maturity (emotional and physical) which makes no damn sense like..they wouldnt even have to linearly correspond, or have the same structure, or same concepts (of adolesence, of being elderly, etc) and i mean they could, but its very much the same as like. only ever envisioning aliens as being strictly humanoid with face bumps like . i do nottt get it....

which i SAY because like. ewww!!! i strictly DONT want to be one of those ppl who is like "teehee, age doesnt matter, its arbitrarryyy to this alien culture [uses it as an excuse]" BUT i also dont want to be like one of those ppl who like "haha, well technicalllyyy this alien is 18 sooooo!<3" bc like . with the hypothetical extraterrestrial race yep! it does become completely arbitrary & banging on about it like that its like... ur completely losing sight of it, doing the math to try and check whether the fucker is legal, is completely, trying to gotcha "haha, its fine if i ship these two" &... missing the point ... of WHY weird age shit is wrong in the first place

bc its abt power dynamics... & its insaaaaane u have to point that out to people sometimes... but its like. p*dophilia is wrong bc young people are . extremely vulnerable. and do not have the power in that position; they are taken advantage of, and the are not capable of informed consent, and its sick in the head, yeah..

+ so WITH alien stuff. like fictitious species and things like that, yeah? its very much down to the precedent writers create, and what they construct and what they build...

andthats all to say iliterally. do not know what to fucking think of chiana necking with jothee because like....

literallyyyyyy. my honest 2 god truth. in my opinion? IF d'argo and chiana had never been a thingl; IF you wiped the slate clean, and never had even entertained it... chiana and jothee? they would actually make a HELL of a lot more sense to me.

like i always saw chiana as a very young adult. probs my ageish - maybe like a year or two younger?

and so i think jothee... again. shrugs. idk how luxons would age; fine, if he's technically younger in years, but like... FROM what ive seen of him, he reads like someone also of that age range, maybe a touch younger. but definitely close enough that i can see them very easily gravitating towards each other.

and again. like i think i said before, initially i read chiana and d'argo as more like... a parental dynamic, if literally anything? which is why i wasnt totally onboard with them to begin with- but was willing to, like, go with it because i understand that was my initial interpretation, not the canon gospel - and hey, if they can convince me otherwise then cool. i'm the one who misread it, yeah?

(bc also i will say like: ithink d'argo IS like a good example of being very alien in terms of age, in combination with him also being a bit off, i suppose, bc like... they say he's young multiple times in the show, and they say it was odd he went off and had kidsyoung- so like? to me... i again figure, like, a very young dad who just seems a hell of a lot older. i know guys likethat irl-plenty of them- who matured v fast even if theyre really still. a lot younger, in honesty. and i think thats fair enough.)

BUT YEAH. LIKE. ITS SO FUCKING.., EVEN THEN IT- IT JSUT KINDA FEELS .ughhg. RUHGHGH. like

in isolation. if we had one or the other i THINK it wouldnt be fucking weird. for the reasons i said. i really dont think it would; the writers could make the either or work. but like- both of them...? yeah no- thats what makes it strange, even if you do play fast and loose with how ages work here, bc its like.. that DOES feel like a really freaking. icky shift to me even if i dont think chiana is taking advantage of jotheee or d'argo is taking advantage of chiana necessarily. theres just a strange dissonance, here, and its like.. mmmnn. noo :(

bc like again i said. i dont find chiana and jothee that weird by themselves and thats whatkinda makes it a shame bc i do think they actually suit each other better and especially frustrating bc. i just fucking wish they hadnt done chiana and d'argo at all at this point, bc it hasnt really done much to give us anything at all. and, like i think d'argo and her just feel like an unfolding misunderstanding- and not in the "oh, we balance each other out; we will work towards it" kinda way, but just like a. these ppl dont fit and they tried it butits just not meant 2 be way and thats fineee i LIKE it when you explore stuff like that man but eek they really... ARENT taking the time to explore it in that way. are they. theyrejust kinda botching it and

BC MEANWHILE LIKE. IF WE WERE TO TALK "OH, WHO WOULD BE AN ACTUAL THRIVING COUPLE?" from what ive seen thus far... jothee and chiana have a lot in common that i could easily see them connecting with quite strongly andi think... with the both of them in another environment, it could be messy, but with the rest of the moya crew grounding them it could actually be really sweet for them to find sth in each other. but like any potential of that- yeah. no . its gross now. because of the kinda setup presented

growth spurt - richie tozier

↳ a/n - ignore the lack of format at all. i’m writing this on my phone and lower caps looks cuter idc. technically requested by @bucky-j-barnes (although she only told me to write richie if it counts) anyways sara ily and enjoy <3

y/n leaned back against the wall outside of school as she watched all of the people walking inside, trying to spot one of the losers (specifically her trashmouth boyfriend). y/n and her parents had been away in another state to see family for practically all of summer so she hadn’t seen any of the losers since may. she’d missed them all a lot, as she hadn’t really spoken to any of them through summer, though the anticipation to see them definitely made the school day better. somehow.

she hadn’t really changed too much over the summer. she’d cut her hair and changed up her style a little, though she had no major changes. nothing that people would notice. she’d stopped growing about a year ago so she was still the same height; annoyingly short. the only person she knew who was the same height as her was eddie, which she appreciated. she had someone who at least got bullied with her when richie went off on one.

“hey, sweet cheeks!”

she’d been too lost in her thoughts to see him approach, but she looked up at the voice she recognised all too well and holy fuck.

richie walked up towards her with his hands in his pockets, grinning his usual stupid grin. he was still wearing one of his hideously colourful shirts and still had glasses that covered the top half of his face. his hair was a mess as always and he was still carrying the same backpack he had since sixth grade. but somehow he had gotten so much taller. he was practically a giant. for a seventeen year old he was huge. it looked like he had literally been stretched upwards to be so tall.

y/n’s mouth dropped open as he moved to stand in front of her and his grin widened, arms loosely crossing over his chest.

“i know, i got even hotter.” he smirked, and she had to look up at him as he spoke.

he had always been tall, but so had all of the other boys she knew - aside from eddie, of course. but this was just insane. he wasn’t just tall - he was a fucking giant.

“how did you- since when- you’re so tall!” y/n gasped and richie laughed as he reached out to pat her head like she was a puppy.

“maybe you just got shorter.” he teased and y/n scowled, though she couldn’t help but smile as richie stepped forwards and put his arms around her, pulling her into himself. this new height was perfect for hugging him, she realised as he tucked her head right under his chin.

“missed you.” she mumbled into his disgusting pink shirt, and she relaxed against him as he held onto her a little tighter. she really had missed him all summer. it sucked not being around him for so long, especially outside of school. he was so different when it was just them. he was so much gentler.

“missed you more. it sucked being stuck with eddie for two months without you.” richie chuckled.

“hey what the fuck?”

y/n looked up to see eddie walking towards them and rolled her eyes, elbowing richie in the ribs when she realised he’d purposely said it so his best friend could hear.

“eddie! i missed you too!” y/n smiled and pulled away from her boyfriend to put her arms around the shorter boy instead, who initially stiffened though hugged her back after a moment.

“better that then contracting some sort of disease from the water. seriously, i feel like i’m the only person who cares about safety.” eddie scowled as he crossed his arms, speaking almost too fast for y/n to keep up.

“safety schmaftey. lighten up a bit, eds. sheesh you’re more wound up than my grandma.” he snorted.

“whatever, when you die from doing something stupid i won’t be surprised,” eddie huffed, adjusting the straps of his bag on his shoulders as he spoke. “i’ve gotta go and disinfect my locker before i use it, fuck knows what was in there last year,” he shuddered. “see you guys.” eddie shoved richie as he walked past before he went into the building, disappearing amongst the crowd.

“if i knew you’d almost kill yourself all summer i’d have probably stuck around.” y/n teased as she looked back up at him and richie rolled his eyes.

“i wasn’t even that bad, come on angel,” richie complained, and y/n had to stop herself from smiling at the nickname. “anyways, now that you’re back i can get unhinged in another way.” he wriggled his eyebrows at her suggestively and she groaned as she pushed his chest.

“in your dreams, tozier.” y/n scoffed and richie threw his head back and laughed at her expression.

“come on, snookums, not even a quick one? there’s probably an empty closet inside-“

y/n cut him off by lifting her hand to cover his mouth so he didn’t say anymore, though pulled it away with a gasp when she felt something wet against her fingers.

“did you just lick me?” she gasped, and richie started laughing again as he slung his arm back around her.

“there’s way more where that came from.” he winked, and she pulled a face and groaned as she wiped her hand off on her trousers.

“you’re disgusting.” she scowled.

“you still love me.” he grinned, tapping the end of her nose and causing her to scrunch it up slightly.

“somehow.” she sighed dramatically, though couldn’t hide her smile as she looked up at him. “we probably have to go inside in a minute.” she nodded towards the entrance of the school, and leaned up to kiss him for a moment before they went inside, though scowled as he was now too tall for her to reach.

richie grinned as she leaned up on her tiptoes towards him though just tipped his head up so she couldn’t reach, and she groaned as she smacked his chest again.

“rich.” she whined, tugging on his shirt, and he laughed as he finally leaned down to kiss her properly, resting his hands on her sides.

“you’re too cute,” he teased as he pulled away with a kiss to the end of her nose, and reached to take her hand instead as they started walking inside. “still wanna find that closet, though?”

“shut up.” y/n elbowed him again and he laughed, swinging their hands as they walked inside.

I don’t know why Steve thought she was a kid tbh, if the people of the snap don’t count the years they were snapped, then I’m, guessing we can’t count the years Steve spent on ice since, technically, he wasn’t alive. All of them are adults. Let’s be honest and admit they made a mistake in AOU and CW. I really don’t care that much about the actor’s age as long as the appearance fits the character and in this case, I’m sorry but Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen didn’t look 17 in those movies:

Compare them to the cast of Spider-Man and you’ll see the difference (take into consideration that half of this cast are 20-something year olds too)

They do look like teenagers lmao. So they probably wanted to fix this in Wandavision. There are people who can play teenagers at certain ages and that’s ok. I think it’s more interesting to see the dynamic of the ‘kids and married life’ with Wanda. And it also makes more sense that they would recruit her just like that.

No, it’s not discriminatory at all. If Elizabeth Olsen had been fired for ‘not looking young’ enough or for ‘looking too old’, then yes, it would but in this case, Elizabeth is very much employed and living the good marvel life lmao

I think some Wanda stans can’t get behind this fact because they can no longer justify some of her actions due to her age. People can say Peter was a teenager and a dumbass in HOCO, and yes, it’s valid because he was 15. But Wanda is a grown ass adult and the fact that she couldn’t even stay with Vision (someone she felt safe with) in a 100 acres secured compound because she felt oppressed and ‘locked’ in her room (which she was not) is very telling. They also can’t blame Tony for everything she does because she’s an adult just like him.

I don’t know why they want to make her look ‘poor and innocent’ for some reason, instead, they should take the opportunity to see her as a fantastic representation of mental health issues since she’s been dealing with that a lot. Just remember something, if you want to sympathize with her because of her mental state then you should be able to do it with Tony too, because he’s dealt with those same issues as well. Anxiety? Loss? PTSD? Grief? Survivor’s guilt? Addiction? Depression? Coping mechanisms? All of them.

He’s one of the characters that represent that and just like the article says, RDJ’s character was able to do it without subtlety, apology or insensitivity, and it would be great if the MCU (fans) would give Wanda that opportunity too, instead of trying to take those aspects away by infantilizing her. I see they’re handling her issues pretty well in WV, and the reason I’m giving Wanda a chance is because I can identify with her loss, I’ve lost so much in my personal life and seeing her grieve is very therapeutic for me. I gotta give it to Elizabeth, she’s a great actress and she’s the doing the role justice.

anyways i may or may not have,,,,,, pretty much kicked him out of the class, he's swapping to my best friend's class some time tomorrow probably- ,,,,,,,, yeah it's a long story. we're trading him for tatiana, she used to be in our class last year and we want her back.

long story short i went into that school with every good intention to actually get along with him and he simply didn't let me.

BUT he tried on my glasses. it was stupidly adorable. and i suppose i am kinda gonna miss him turning around to me mid lesson to say something stupid or ask me if i've gotten anything from the whole lesson just to take a piss at me and imply that im stupid,,,,,,

and besides there's practical reasons i actually want him in the class, if he's there constantly trying to prove he's above everyone i'm gonna try to be better than him, so that's technically a motivation for me to do better in class, which let's be real i already am better than him in class, but the competitive element helps and there's no way i'll let myself slack off knowing there's a chance he'll do better than me. so i probably should,, not have proposed we trade him for tatiana. but also he's so fucking annoying it'll be DELIGHTFUL to have tatiana back instead of him.

although tatiana distracts me a lot and comes up with stupid shit to do during the lesson which i normally get carried away with, so having tatiana back would probably ruin my grades. but then again she's my friend it'd be kinda shitty to say that i'd rather have good grades than have her back in the class. but also i don't care i was doing very well so far.

but it's whatever i guess. he can leave idc. i came up with it in the first place and he wants to go back to his old class anyways do. whatever.

randomly felt like trying on some of the vintage clothes I have today. I always want to do a proper vintage look but as you can see my hair is entirely too long and I don't know what to do with it! I keep thinking about cutting it but then I can't bring myself to do it.

These are terrible quality mirror selfies but idc, easiest way for me to show the dresses.

Dress 1 was my grandma's when she was 13, so it's from the 30s. Her friend's mom made her and her friend matching dresses and she kept it for her whole life.

Dress 2 belonged to an elderly neighbor of mine. She said she made it in the 40s. When she found out how interested I was in historical things and vintage fashion she gave it to me when I was around 9 years old and told me I could wear it when I grew up.

Dress 3 isn't technically vintage but my sister made it using a pattern from the 30s. Not a replica pattern but one that actually was from the 30s. She chose fabric that looked exactly like the picture on the pattern package.

I would wear more vintage styles from this era if I could style my hair correctly but since I can't I've been sticking to more late 60s/70s styles which are a lot easier to wear in general and work with my hair but I do love 30s & 40s fashion so.

Viscount!Kylo Cheat sheet

Hi there! The purpose of this page is to:

Address story gaps and background that doesn’t make it into the pieces

Provide a very basic historical summary to make sure readers who don’t normally read stuff like this aren’t left in the dark

If you have any questions (plot or historical) that are not answered on here feel free to send them in! I will do my best to answer and add it to the list!

Historical bits:

*note* the viscount!kylo universe will 110% contain intentional and unintentional historical accuracies, so hopefully you’re not here for the history, but here’s the stuff that comes up in viscount!kylo au.

Terms to know:

The ton - An abbreviation of french “le bon ton”, not a typo for town lol. The very top of London’s high society largely consists of the nobility (those with titles from Duke to Baron) and their families. Very rich, very very very stiff society rules.

High in the instep - a wordy way of calling someone arrogant

Season - The social season ran from around February to the end of the summer, members of the ton all gather in London for activities like balls, picnics, promenades, teas, etc. etc. The main purpose of these events is matchmaking. Most young women have their first season at age 17, though some mamas allow their daughters to delay their debut a year. Seasons were very competitive and the mothers of debutants, in particular, took it very seriously. Ideally, young women marry in their first season, a second season is understandable, a third season is questionable, if you make it to season 4 or 5 you’re in trouble and everyone knows it.

Rake - a regency era fuckboy.

Debutant - Women who are “out” in society/taking part in seasons/looking for a husband.

Dowager - A widowed woman with a title.

WTF is a viscount?? - A member of the nobility. Technically, in line for the throne but mainly just a rich person with a title. Titles are passed down from firstborn male to firstborn male, second sons are backups, if no sons are had title goes on to closest male relative. Titles can’t get passed down to women, women can only get titles through marriage. The hierarchy of titles is as follows:

King (wife queen)

Prince (princess(?))

Duke (wife duchess)

Marquess (wife Marqueiness)

Earl (wife countess)

Viscount (wife viscountess)

Baron (wife baroness)

Dowry - A (usually grossly high) amount of money gifted to new grooms by the brides family, intended to cover taking care of wife throughout the marriage so the woman is not a financial burden. (no I’m not kidding😩).

Compromised - Okay so purity culture is in full swing in this fic because it’s the 1810s and sexism. But it’s not enough to be a virgin, women can’t: kiss men, be with men unchaperoned, talk to men too much, etc. etc. otherwise she will be “compromised”, take a massive social hit, and nobody will marry her. The only thing that can save a woman’s honour is if the man who compromises her marries her. (Why? idk).

What’s our backstory?

Reader is the only child of a dead baron so our situation is PRECARIOUS AF. Barons are already pretty low on the social ladder and because our dad is dead (idc how he died feel free to insert your own theories), the title of baron has passed out of the family to some distant cousin. Our mother, the dowager barronness is left with whatever small fortune the dead baron left her with so we’re not rolling in it. It is super important that we marry well not only so that we are financially stable but also so that our mother is provided for as she ages.

We are now 20 years old, which is getting up there for a debutant, and we are in our third season so we gotta be smart. However, we for obvious reasons, don’t want to marry an insufferable asshole or a gross old man. (Kylo Ren is an insufferable asshole.)

So Kylo’s just a viscount?

Yes, so technically Kylo’s title isn’t super impressive, however! Wealth and popularity (two things kylo inherited a lot of) are not necessarily synonymous with rank. Also Kylo’s super hot so obviously still plenty powerful and desirable

What’s Kylo’s backstory/Leia’s deal?

Leia Organa is the daughter of a long-standing dukedom. (For story purposes she was born an Organa she’s not adopted she was never a Skywalker). Her family line is well established, well respect and incredibly wealthy so there was never any need for her to marry for position, because of this she was encouraged to marry for love. She takes this to the extreme and falls in love with Han Solo who is a totally not acceptable match. However, they are totally in love and the Duke and the Duchess Organa really want the best for their daughter so using their connections and a dash of dishonesty the Organas are able to find an old forgotten Viscount line and bestow it upon Han. Han is a total charmer so it works and everyone loves him. He takes on the last name Ren in order to fit into the role and it technically becomes Leia’s last name too when she marries him and becomes Viscountess but Leia kinda resents it because that’s not who Han really is and she likes Organa because it was her given surname and it connects her back to her dukedom.

Han dies at some point shortly before our story takes place because it’s the early 1800s and people died young all the time and I needed Kylo to already hold his family’s title for plot purposes.

Why don’t we know what sex is?

Because it is considered unproper for unmarried young ladies of the ton to know such things. Most women just get a super vague “talk” the night before their wedding.

Were Han and Leia bad parents?

NO! I know a lot of fics write them as bad parents for plot purposes and it’s debatably canon, but I couldn’t bear it, I just love them too much. Viscount!Kylo’s just an angsty cocky shit because it’s who he is. 🤠

Is this story inspired by Bridgerton?

YES! I’ve stolen bits and pieces from almost every book at this point, but I was primarily inspired by the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, (Anthony’s story), it’s enemies to lovers and I adore it with all of my heart.

Heyo, fellow Inuyasha fans! Happy Friday! This particular blog will serve as a collection of random thoughts I’ve been mulling over lately. Hope you’ll consider giving it a read. By the way, it’ll specifically pertain to the Sessrin ship. If that’s not something that is of interest to you, then no need to read any further. Whatever happens, I wanted to get this out before the sequel. Alrighty, let’s go!

I’m not sure many of us realize just how much fiction sparks public dialogue and shapes culture. There have been countless studies and research done to prove it, therefore this really isn’t up for debate. What the real question here should be is have we taken the time to fully contemplate and assess just how much fictional experiences are able to change or influence our perspective on real, everyday life? The visual arts are just one of many evolutionary adaptations that serve to give us more insight into one another’s mind. If our outlook on fiction contrasts with said insight, then perhaps some re-evaluating is in order.

Powerful works of literature such as 1984 and the beloved Harry Potter series are just two examples. George Orwell’s book contributed strongly to how readers viewed government and politics during that time, and to this day it’s a book that resonates with many. As much as Harry Potter is cherished all across the world, there are religious and academic institutions that condemn it or have even gone so far as to ban it. I may not agree with the extreme measures taken, but it’s fascinating nonetheless to witness the extent to which fiction can move and mobilize people for a cause.

The takeaway is that indicating fiction doesn’t have the power to create change in our everyday lives is misleading to say the least. So how exactly then can fictional stories that are, after all, completely made up affect society in such profound ways? It all lies in the power of the psychology of fiction. According to cognitive psychologist and novelist, Keith Oatley, who’s been researching the psychological effects of fiction for over a decade, he states that engaging with stories about other people can improve empathy and theory of mind. When we identify with these characters’ struggles, we begin to share their frustration for societal problems that plague them. These types of stories tap into our emotions more so than- believe it or not- nonfiction, and thus their effects inspire us and even have the ability to alter our worldviews.

I’ll be returning to that specific topic a bit later, but moving on for now!

It’s safe to say that I speak on behalf of the majority of antis. That being said, I first want to add that we are aware that sessrin shippers claim to agree that there was nothing inherently romantic that took place between Rin and Sesshomaru during their travels together. The thing is we have trouble believing you guys when you time and time again provide contradictory statements to defend your stance.

Voicing things like, “all signs point to Rin” and “it’s been foreshadowed” sends the exact opposite message of what you supposedly stand for and, if anything, confirms that you’ve had romance on your mind long before it would’ve been acceptable to come out with openly. You can’t just go along with what we say when it’s convenient to your argument and then back it up later with “who else but Rin.” How can the relationship you’re imagining be so obvious if they didn’t hint at it for the whole duration of the original series like we agreed upon? Elaborate on how we could’ve possibly come to such wildly different conclusions when we started AND left off with the same views for and throughout the series.

On top of that, making the excuse that we don’t speak for adult!Rin and that she has the right to make her own decisions once she’s old enough is a weak defense. Firstly, because we haven’t even met her. Secondly, because it’s unfair of you to assert that you know what’s best for Rin and then say we’re not allowed to just because it doesn’t align with your beliefs. I get that you feel protective over her character, but do recall that this adult version of her none of us have actually met yet. We have no idea what kind of woman she’s become, what her dreams or aspirations may be, and whether she’s married or even wants to be. I’m not against the idea of her falling in love, I just don’t think it’ll be with Sesshomaru. I guess I’m also a fan of the idea of her following in Kaede’s footsteps, because if anyone can grow up to be an independent, trusted, and wise leader of the community like her it’s Rin.

To make matters worse, way too many of you continue to celebrate the drama cd and profess that it was sweet that Sesshomaru basically promised he’d wait for Rin all while somehow ignoring the glaring grooming implications. Why do you only see what you want to see and fail to acknowledge that actual child grooming scenarios do in fact play out like this in real life? A high percentage of people who have been victims of grooming can attest to this. If Sessrin does go canon, all the sequel succeeded in doing to avoid the direct correlation with grooming was skip over the more questionable and dodgy portions of it. Take out the time jump, however, and you no longer have a loophole to cover up the scary unmistakable truth, which is that Sessrin and grooming are essentially one in the same.

No one case is identical to another so please don’t come to me with your “but how is it grooming if Sesshomaru didn’t manipulate Rin” refutes. Nobody knows what the hell went on during those years between The Final Act and this upcoming sequel. Based on everything exhibited so far- that is if we decide to recognize the drama cd like so many of you choose to do- Sessrin’s dynamic is eerily reminiscent of real life child grooming. Why else do you think a lot of us fans have a huge problem with it? It’s triggering for a reason.

Let’s be honest, Sesshomaru’s supposed love confession could’ve just been the first of many gestures like it. Who really knows, right? According to you shippers, a major shift in their relationship took place sometime during this critical period none of us got to watch unfold. I’m sure you all have explored the various ways this would’ve gone down in fan fiction and through other creative means of expression. Not to spoil the fun, but all I can’t help but wonder about is just how many of those supposed “cute moments” would’ve been as creepy and cringey as that proposal. Hundreds of thousands (possibly millions?!) of fans would undoubtedly agree with me, too. It seems to me this ain’t due to a mere difference of opinion. Taste is one thing, ethics a whole other.

By the way, in case you didn’t know, groomers don’t necessarily need to plan out every single move in order for their behavior to constitute as grooming. What we should be paying attention to instead is the fact that Sesshomaru made a conscious decision to act on his own selfish desire for a young girl who couldn’t have possibly known in that moment the magnitude of what he was asking of her. Why is it that a vulnerable Rin is put in a position that forces her to be the one responsible for making such a big, life-changing decision for the both of them? Yes, Sesshomaru gave her the choice and, yes, she doesn’t have to make it till later, but why on Earth is he coming to her with this well before a child her age is ready and mature enough to handle it? Even if his intentions are good (broadly speaking of course), his what you shippers probably call “innocent acts” are incidentally coercing Rin into reciprocating his feelings. Whether he planned for that or not, he’s at fault. Period.

That’s one way the power imbalance works. A child wants nothing more than to please the adult they look up to and adore, because they’re impressionable like that. Maybe Rin processes this like she’ll want whatever he wants, so that’s what she trains herself to believe- either right then and there or over time. Plus, if you really think about it, why wouldn’t she trust him if in her eyes he’s been nothing but good to her and that’s all she’s ever really known? (Psst! Charm is integral to the manipulative nature of grooming so it’s deceiving AKA manipulation can come off as praise or flattery.) Bottom line is that Rin is too young to have to think about this kind of deep stuff at all, and Sesshomaru shouldn’t have taken advantage of the power he had/has over her to influence a decision she was by no means prepared to hear about much less decide on. Your headcanons seem to imply that she’ll eventually have to choose though, and Idk about you but I rather not push my own fantasy agenda onto a underage girl regardless of how much I want it. Idc if she’s fictional, it wouldn’t feel right so why would I want to see that? My principals couldn’t ever allow for it.

Even if it wasn’t an official proposal, per se, it’s still disturbing to me that so many of you find joy in the thought of a grown adult male essentially waiting for a young girl HE KNEW to become old enough before pursuing her. I know this drama cd ain’t technically canon, y'all, but since this is literally the only source we have that may foreshadow a potential Sessrin to come, and it’s referenced a lot, I figured it still should be called out for exactly what it is- Grooming: 101!!!!

Just as I demonstrated above, fiction has the ability to make even the most inappropriate and uncomfortable situations be viewed in a favorable light when you put the right spin on it. *cough* Lolicon culture, need I say more? *cough* Despite what you may believe, the strategies fiction utilizes to explain themes/concepts can genuinely lead to how we perceive them, and ultimately to how we come to make sense of a similar event presented to us in real life. Especially if we have no prior experience with any of it and have nothing to compare something to, these perceptions can be dangerous yet still persuasive to certain fans- young ones in particular. The more narrative consistency across stories and different mediums, the more likely they’ll influence social beliefs. Minors don’t possess the same capacity as adults to think critically about the content they consume, and if we aren’t more careful about what we put out there then all of us will continue to face serious repercussions.

This is precisely why it’s crucial we persist in our fight against the rabid phenomenon of glorifying young girls in every sexual context imaginable. Just look at what something as seemingly harmless as fiction has the power to do. The scope of fiction is broad and far-reaching, and it’s about time we stop denying that fact and actually do something about it if we have the means to.

The truth of the matter is that we’re in desperate need of proper education and training programs on this issue in our communities. Families need to ensure their children have access to the necessary resources, but it isn’t just on them. ALL of us gotta do our part and ALL of us should be up for the task. It takes a village, right? If we do not properly discuss and address child sexual abuse (CSA) with our children and in public forums, including the internet, then we’re ultimately accepting incidents of CSA should they arise. Consequently, that also translates to indirectly accepting that the predators among us stay untreated and/or unpunished. That’s how the generational and societal aspect of the abuse can continue, and we must do everything in our power to secure our children’s future. Yes, even when it comes to fiction.

If you still somehow don’t think the Sessrin pairing has anything to do with grooming, allow me to break this down for you one more time:

1. If some of your fellow sessrin shippers say that a relationship like this in real life is harmful, then that should be pretty telling in and of itself.

2. Piggybacking off #1: if your only defense to that is “well it’s just fiction,” then you should ask yourself why you can’t ever come up with better reasons. Same goes for history and culture, so please stop using those to justify this relationship. None of the above can or should be applied since it’s already been established that fiction pervades our lives and vice versa.

3. If fellow shippers who are victims of grooming say they are drawn to Sessrin because it allows them in a way to “take back control” from their abuser so that they can better cope with past traumas, then they’re inadvertently admitting that Sessrin does possess qualities associated with the past child sexual abuse they underwent. AKA Sessrin is relatable for its abusive dynamic.

I have to ask by the way, but why do you get so offended when we don’t support your ship anyway? Is it because we interpret it to be controversial and you don’t like your ship getting a bad rap? Is it because it would be insulting to admit that antis actually have a point in it being problematic and you rather double down instead? Or is it because you’re projecting yourself onto Rin and prefer to not go into detail about why that is? Maybe it’s too personal, or maybe it’s because deep down you’re ashamed. Of course that doesn’t mean you’re bad people, but suppressing these kind of negative emotions can’t be healthy for anyone. A little awareness and self-reflection on your part can benefit not just you but all of us in the long run. Cognitive dissonance can suck, but it’s also part of being human.

I recently came across a comment I’d like to share with you. Unfortunately, this is not the first time nor will it be the last I see the likes of it. Anyway, in it a fan stated how embarrassing it must be being an Anti in this fandom when an episode like “Forever with Lord Sesshomaru” exists. Guys, this shipper and all those who liked their post are showing their true colors. Perpetuating and/or anticipating these sexualized images of young girls is a grave issue in both our society and media alike. I think we can all agree on that, or at least I hope so. It’s remarks like these that prove we still got a long way to go in terms of progress, and if we ever hope to effectively reverse some of our backwards way of thinking. So serious question for ya in regard to this: Why is it too much to ask that grooming be portrayed for what it is? Grooming. To clarify, grooming is bad and needs to be painted in a bad light. It’s as simple as that. If only we could all acknowledge it for what it is, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.

Historical accuracy and cultural differences aside, it appears the crux of the matter between Sessrin shippers and Antis is our acceptance and/or denial of fiction’s influence on real life. If we can’t agree on this, then we’ll never agree on anything else. As mentioned earlier, there is more than enough evidence to support the idea that fiction impacts our lives in extraordinary ways. I, for one, believe in the transformative power of stories. I think they do more for us than many of us give them credit for and/or are inclined to admit.

This is partially why I believe that the majority of sessrin folk are missing the point most of the time. All they do is focus on insignificant and irrelevant information that accomplishes nothing but more gaslighting and strawmanning. Whether it be an intentional or unconscious decision, whatever we argue goes right over their head. All they do is throw around deflections and antagonizing remarks that serve no real purpose other than to make Antis out to be the unreasonable and irrational ones. Making connections between our own lives and our stories is a completely natural and normal occurrence. If those particular shippers insist on denying just how interconnected real life and fiction both are, what that tells me is they’re either out of touch with reality or deliberately choose to be.

Just to be clear, I am of the opinion that most if not all antis aren’t real life predators. If they say they aren’t, I honestly take their word for it. Speaking to Sessrin shipper directly: We know it’s not Sesshomaru you want to be but Rin. No, we’re not calling you pedophiles or groomers. None of us think you are using a fictional ship to attract underage fans to be the Rin in your life or anything of the sort. We are well aware that many of you are self-inserting yourself as Rin, so please don’t feel the need to tell us yourself because that would be stating the obvious.

I learned from a few of you since this sequel was announced that the Sessrin relationship isn’t just a ship but an opportunity for you to confront the person who used and abused you. So there’s two issues with this I’d like to raise. (Sorry if I’m repeating myself, but it’s urgent I stress this again!) This is what I have to say:

If fiction does not affect real life or have the ability to normalize anything as you claim to believe, then why does “fixing” what happened to you via your preferred choice of coping associated with these two characters in the first place? Why bring your past abuse into this at all if at the end of the day it’s “just fiction” and nothing more to you but a source of entertainment?

By confessing that you use Sessrin to cope with your past trauma, you therein reveal that Sessrin does in fact resemble an adult-child relationship with a grooming dynamic. So why then would you want other fans to be exposed to a pairing that brings to mind the very abuse you endured? We’re supposed to stop this toxic cycle- NOT find more ways to manifest and relive it, much less subject other fans to it.

You may think that Sessrin doesn’t fit the textbook definition of what child grooming is, but that’s not to say it doesn’t embody it or that it doesn’t at the very least have traces of it that stand out.

“Antis are miserable people who don’t know how to enjoy a good story. It’s just fiction, stop ruining it for other fans!”

Well, no, it’s not just fiction or just a story. Some of you evidently went and proved that yourself, and without my help, by revealing how you relate Sessrin to your own life and apply it to cope with past abuse. Past abuse or not, as far as I can tell we’re all equally invested in these characters. That speaks volumes and just goes to show that fiction touches our lives in long-lasting ways.

I have something I want to say concerning some of who believe that it’s inconsiderate of antis who have been victims of grooming or another form of child abuse to tell other victims who ship Sessrin how they should cope with their trauma. Now as much as I respect the various means victims discover to deal with their painful pasts, there’s always an appropriate time and a place for these things to occur. We must seek out better ways to safely cope with the abuse we lived through (if any) without running the risk of hurting and endangering others.

There are plenty of fans in other fandoms who don’t try to defend their ships going canon, because they’re able to recognize an unhealthy or toxic pairing when they see one and won’t try to justify it. A Sessrin romance simply does not belong on a show geared towards teens, and I really don’t need to go into detail about why we shouldn’t support it, at least canon-wise. Shipping Sessrin is your right, but if you don’t keep it to yourself and your corner of the fandom then you really shouldn’t be surprised by the opposition. All we ask is you respect that their specific dynamic falls under the category of child grooming (or very close) and should be treated as such in public. The world of fiction may be wider than the world we live in, but that doesn’t always mean “anything goes.” In the creative spaces our minds occupy we must still adhere to the same fundamental and moral guidelines we live by in life. There’s nothing wrong with exploring new terrains and experimenting with ideas, but we must also remember that our stories are all about communicating and connecting with people. So let’s please be more mindful of the sort of messages they’re sending.

Besides, this isn’t only about you and what makes you feel safe, it’s about all of us. I don’t know how much more I can stress that really. How can thoughts endanger our children, you ask? Well, it’s not like we’re suggesting that our thoughts can jump out of our tvs, materialize themselves, and place kids under mind control. The forces behind fiction are a lot more complex and nuanced than a “monkey see, monkey do” approach, so don’t waste any more time trying to describe that to us. You’re taking this argument in the wrong direction.

Take the “violent video games breed killers” theory. I’m afraid you’re misconstruing what we’re saying and then taking it quite too literally. Please stop twisting our words, because nobody on our side is saying that just because you play violent video games that you’ll become a violent person. The Sessrin equivalent of that would be if you ship them then you must be a pedophile or turning into one. *sigh* I know you guys are feeling attacked, but I’m afraid your defensive nature is keeping you from thinking straight. Clearly, there are always exceptions (I’d recommend reading up on the Slender Man case), but Antis aren’t saying you’re one of them.

You see, it’s not so much about the content as it is the notion of the content. Kids and teens who are playing these video games have been informed that killing is wrong, because they grew up learning that early on like the rest of us. No sane person would advocate for violence and nonsensical killing in real life. Since they fully understand the severity of the consequences of killing a person in real life, they are able make a clear distinction between the two. When it comes to killing there is hardly any ambiguity. Sadly, that is far from the truth when it comes to sexualizing girls. It should immediately be perceived as wrong leaving no room for interpretation, and yet here we are still putting up with these inaccurate and demeaning female representations.

Most children who have been groomed don’t realize it till years down the road. If they aren’t ever taught the telltale signs to properly labeling grooming situations, how do you expect them to make sense of and relate to a fictional version? Let’s think of about it from a child’s perspective. Yes, this includes teens who rely pretty heavily on adult guidance and the content we put out there for them. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment and picture that you’ve never had child grooming explained to you (because that’s just the reality for so many unfortunately). Wouldn’t you say it’s possible for them to deduce that what they see on their screens is how they come to discern something in real life, especially if they have little to no experience with it? Perceived realism is plausible, y'all.

What it comes down to in the end is that the ideas and emotions we cultivate behind these stories leave an impression on others. Impressions are capable of influencing the way we see the world, which in turn affects us and beyond just our imagination. The way I look at it, stories contribute to how and why we normalize certain beliefs and trends. If fiction reflects real life like most of us tend to agree, then wouldn’t you say Sessrin is a (in)direct result of this world’s tendency to place young girls in overly sexual or romantic environments? Where do you think fiction draws its inspiration from? Sure, some of it originates from our imagination, but most of what drives us to create these stories is the real world and the people who live in it.

Fiction is meant to mirror reality, but it’s ridiculous to suggest that it’s only a one-way street. That fiction in no way, shape, or form influences our reality? Or that it only works the other way around? With all due respect, that’s simply not true. No productive discourse can be had if we choose to ignore the truth and don’t come together (at least halfway) to tackle the real issues at hand.

As much as I’ve looked forward to answering all of your asks and writing all the blogs I have over these past almost 5 months, I think it’s best if I spend some time away for now. "heart crushing and awful" headcanon: put off writing this one because his whole character is sad? i think that like in the months leading up to his mum's death (which i hc to be when he was 15) he sort of lost the support of all his friends? he was in a private school and he was maybe starting to realise that being a girl wasn't entirely Right but he was in a group with a lot of rich girls who were kind to their own but horrible to anyone else. and as his mum's illness got worse he stopped being able to tolerate their kind of 'fun' hangouts and retreated into himself and they kept getting on his case about it and eventually he snapped and got in a huge fight with them and then he didn't have any friends anymore, and then he didn't have a mother anymore.

(it’s supposed to take place like a week after the last chap of mistakes were made)

Since they started dating, she quickly figured out that she always has to be the one to pull away first, once they get into it; if she let him, she suspects Donnie would attempt to kiss her all night, and she is not about to let them go down the somebody-fell-asleep-in-the-middle-of-a-make-out road again.

Right now, though, with Donnie’s thick fingers twined in her hair and his tongue teasing hers, doing things to her stomach that she’d only recently admitted he was capable of doing, April has zero intentions of pulling away anytime soon... they've definitely got a bit of that pent-up, zealous third date energy going on. Like Donnie is finally starting to get more confident, more comfortable with the boyfriend-girlfriend thing.

And April notices. Damn, does April notice. So much so that now she can’t un-notice, and has resorted to pouring her frustrated energy into the space where their lips meet over and over, wondering if Donnie can feel it. She badly wants to ask him The Question, but is struggling to work up the courage; on the more cautious, logical hand, she knows Donnie is inexperienced, easily freaked out, and still harbors some disbelief over her returning his feelings, after all this time. He’s still getting used to the new normal. That’s cool; so is she. They have all the time in the world to explore their newfound romance, and there’s really no need to rush anything.

On the other, more pressing hand… the problem with knowing and loving your boyfriend for years prior to actually dating him is, it really screws up a relationship timeline. It just feels like they’ve been together for so much longer than they actually have, which has to be the reason why her craving for more than just kisses from Donnie is already so embarrassingly strong. To be perfectly honest, she’s craving… uh, pretty much everything. Whatever she can get, whatever he might be comfortable doing. Bottom line, April. Is. Thirsty.

She’s almost surprised by how thirsty she is, considering that technically, doesn’t know exactly what it is she’s thirsty for. Um, just one of those fun little quirks of dating a mutant. But she’s given it a lot of thought (a lot of thought), and keeps coming to the same conclusion: the not knowing part, while intimidating, doesn’t actually matter. She’s in love with him, and whatever Donnie’s got going on under his shell, she is absolutely certain she’d like to, uh, partake. In it. Er, on it. ...With it? Whatever, she wants to hit that, the end.

Man, April thinks, if my 16-year-old self could see me now... she still vividly remembers how much it freaked her the hell out, the first time she caught herself pondering what kind of equipment her mutant turtle friend could possibly be working with--whiiich had quickly escalated to the intrusive, question-mark-riddled thought of what sex with him might look like. Both were real no-no thoughts for her at the time; she couldn’t look him directly in the eye for a whole 24 hours afterwards.

Now, though...

April wiggles in his lap a bit, testing the waters, but Donnie’s only reaction is to freeze up for a second before he resumes kissing her like nothing happened. She sighs inwardly. Again, The Question pops into her head, in bright blinky lights. Heyy, wanna move to my bed? You wanna move to my bed? My bed, Donnie, you wanna move to it??

Maybe she should switch out the word ‘bed’ for ‘room’, that might be less daunting for him… fuck, is she moving too fast? Is he even ready for this? Dammit, if this were an alternate universe where she’d matched with a mutant turtle on Tinder and this was their third date, she wouldn’t be dealing with this problem. But he’s not some random guy she found on an app, he’s Donnie, and for the last half hour April has felt full to bursting with how much she wants to… how much she really wants to...

Breaking off their long-running kiss, April sits back and watches Donnie’s eyes flutter open to meet hers, both of them breathing hard.

“...Everything okay?” he ventures, his voice low and thick, sending a warm twinge to her belly. It’s the husky voice, probably, the one April hasn’t quite gotten used to hearing, that pushes her over the edge. Before she can stop it, The Question barges its way out of her mouth

“Yeah, I was just... would you wanna move this date to my room?”

April feels her face growing hot (bleck, that sounded like such a line, she did not mean for it to come out that way) while Donnie just blinks at her, two purple arches forming high on his forehead. His lips part a little dazedly, no sound coming out right away.

“That is, if you’re comfortable with it,” April hastily follows up when the silence stretches out a tad too long. “If not,” she waves a nonchalant hand, “No big deal, I’m fine with whatever. But... I mean, would you? Want to?”

Donnie starts a little, as if just realizing he’s supposed to be saying words. “Oh, uh. You sure?” He finally manages.

His reaction is more hesitant than anything, but April gets it. Their relationship is barely a week old, and this part of things has yet to come up, in conversation or anywhere else. One look at Donnie’s face is all she needs to know that he had not been prepared for anything more than a handsy make out on the couch tonight.

“Hell. Yes,” April responds firmly, cradling his jaw and stroking his cheeks with her thumbs. “More than sure... I meant it when I said I wanna be with you, Donnie,” she adds with a shy, yet suggestive grin.

“Hoh,” Donnie breathes out, his cheeks turning a pretty comical shade of red for someone so green. His eyes are barely blinking as they search her own in the dim light, and April makes damn sure he finds nothing but sincerity there. “Okay, yeah... yeah, I’d say we’re on the same—” he clears his throat, “—the same page there. Heh.”

Like music to her ears, it’s exactly what April wanted to hear. “Oh thank god,” she sighs in relief and pulls him in for a kiss, humming out a pleased sound against his mouth. She’s delighted when Donnie echoes a softer hum back at her, just as into it as she is... god, she can’t wait a second longer.

Disembarking from his lap, April gets to her feet and offers him a hand. “C’mon. Let’s go get to know each other a little better, shall we?”

An adorable cluck of a giggle slips out of her boyfriend, and for a second he looks around like he has no idea what to do with himself. “Well, how could I say no to that?” He says, and takes her hand, cheeks lifted in a hopeful smile.

April has to take a few calming breaths as they make the short walk to her bedroom. The way she’s feeling at the moment, she just wants to chuck Donnie into bed via her mind powers and pounce on top of him, but something tells her that might be a little much for him right now. He trails a half step behind her, his footsteps light and silent, skittish almost, while the vast palm of his hand has started to feel sweaty where her fingers brush against it. ‘Nervous’ does not even begin to describe the feelings she’s picking up from him. That’s okay, she tells herself. He’s allowed to be nervous. She’ll have him feeling better soon enough.

They shuffle inside, and April drops his hand to push the door shut behind them with a resounding click. She turns around to find Donnie standing in the middle of the room with fidgeting hands, weirdly far from the bed, as if he got lost on the way there.

The corners of her mouth quirking up, and she points casually over to her bed with both index fingers. “Soo we’re actually gonna be over here tonight, if you’d like to start making your way over...”

Donnie aims an awkward chuckle at his feet. “Sorry... uh, this part is a little new to me,” he admits, his shoulders lifting as he slinks an inch into his shell. April’s joking demeanor quickly falls away at the way he said that--like it’s something to be ashamed of, like it wasn’t completely obvious already.

Carefully, she makes her approach, taking hold of either side of his hands--which are definitely sweaty and now a little shaky— gazing up (and up) at Donnie’s blushing face. “And that's fine, Dee,” she soothes, aiming to sound like she’s got all the answers. “No pressure, alright? We don’t have to rush into anything. We can just... do whatever feels right for us.”

The corners of his mouth tug upwards, even as the prominent knob in his throat works hard up and down. “Yeah that, that sounds—I’d like that.” Then Donnie suddenly squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head, a grimace funking up his former smile. “Ugh. I’m sorry that I’m so…”

“Shh... you don’t have to overthink it.” April winds her arms around his neck, attempting to coax his tall build down to her level. “Just kiss me,” she whispers, knowing that’s one thing Donnie has no reservations about.
