Fuck it, maybe I'll just turn into a grandma before I turn 30. I already sew and embroider, i picked up crochet, maybe I'll get into knitting. Might as well start collecting depression glass! None of these pieces match but they're all pink and thats what matters

I've actually started kinda having fun identifying depression glass patterns and learning the history and what's rare and all that. The platter is Mayfair, the two teacups on the right are Normandie, and the one teacup on the left is Cherry Blossom. The cherry blossom cup may be a reproduction (unsure) but it's pretty and sparks joy so i don't care too much if it's a true antique. (Plus reproductions were already being made in 1970 so it could be a 50 year old fake lol)

I also got my mom a set of depression glass sherbet cups in Florentine #1, which are uranium glass so they glow under blacklight. I've already packed them up to give her for Christmas but here they are on the shelf at my favorite antique shop. ($5 apiece is really cheap for depression glass - I got her a set of 4 for only $20!)

I love maximalism and i want to have a house full of pretty shiny things even if right now im in an apartment with Landlord White walls. I find it kind of comforting that depression glass was originally made in such high quantities because poor people during the great depression wanted something pretty and fancy for their homes without having to spend a lot of money, and now I'm buying antique depression glass for the exact same reason!

okay more thoughts on pride and prejudice as i begin chapter 39

1 i want to see lady catherine, mrs. bennet, and miss bingley in the same room together on a podcast panel debating things like marriage and childrearing etc but i dont think the world would be able to handle it

2 i’m interpreting mr. darcy as either being neurodivergent (possibly autistic) and/or having severe social anxiety — and this is really informing my entire perspective of his character (as a core theme to his character is being socially understood/misunderstood). however, i know its still very controversial to “diagnose” fictional characters and i don’t want to come off that way — but historical complications aside (the field of psychology didn’t exist back then how it does now) it’s really obvious to see that he’s not neurotypical, although i don’t know if this is an accepted thing in the austen world though!

3 i’m not buying that mr. darcy’s letter was only 2 pages long. 3 pages minimum with tiny handwriting maybe.

4 this entire novel really highlights the importance of social communication more than anything imo

5 mr. collins is fucking hilarious and his interactions with elizabeth are so accurate/relatable of what it’s like to deal with oblivious men as a female, esp. men who dont know how to take a hint — i was actually laughing out loud through his entire proposal sequence, especially at the line where it says elizabeth is trying hard not to laugh too. so familiar.

6 i wish we could see more of charles i actually like him — i also like colonel fitzwilliam and kind of wanted him to marry elizabeth - its kind of hilarious how casual the topic of marriage is with people you’ve just met & i really want to read more about regency history on marriage specifically now to figure out how much is embellished for satire purposes & how much is true to life

8 from what little i’ve read about p&p analysis/consensus so far, it seems mrs bennet and some other characters have already been torn to shreds over lit history to the point that its become more common to defend them & mrs bennet in particular, which i understand bc she’s supposed to be a satire on women of the time period but of course her concerns are valid and there are real economic reasons for her actions and societal norms that pertain to them. i’ve also read that it’s common for people to prefer mr bennet over his wife and to pit them against each other which can lead into misogyny & i can see this. however (im sure the bennet family ends up happy at the end, but at this point in the story) i think there are valid reasons for these interpretations which lead people to like mr bennet more than mrs bennet. after the ordeal with collins i really lost respect for mrs bennet for threatening to disown eliza & treating her so harshly, and i gained respect for mr bennet for sticking by eliza. i continuously defended mrs bennet and her behavior up until the collins proposal. i understand she’s desperate for eliza to marry so that she doesn’t become destitute etc. but mr collins simply isnt an ideal husband

9 eliza’s feelings on her friend marrying collins are so sad and relatable of how all of us feel when we watch a friend or loved one enter a shitty relationship and/or betray themselves or lose a part of their personality + the idea of having to mourn your friend especially upon growing up etc. but particularly as it relates to the lonely woman’s experience of finding one’s friends starting to center males & prioritize romance over friendship the older you get.

What makes this even more pathetic is that Im not even exaggerating, they've gotten so blatantly hypocritical their even trying to use the Minato one-shot as foreshadowing for Bsa, keep in mind these are the same people who claim to want something new and different, are using a one shot set in the past for an OG ship that happened WAY before Bsa even existed all because of the vortex symbolism and the sequel just happened to have the name vortex in it they think its some kind of parallel/foreshadowing for the pair...which is utterly ridiculous but this aint the post for that, but just friendly reminder the Shippuden in the Naruto sequel meant Hurricane chronicles/legends and the Uzumaki clan has always been symbolized with whirlpools/vortex way before Boruto was even thought of, hell their clan symbol is a literal swirl like a vortex...nuff said, this aint the post to delve deeper into that.

Im mentioning this purely to point out the hypocrisy of wanting something 'different' yet using every possible OG thing thats even remotely similar to boost your ship and show how canon it is, yet KawaSara and BoruSumi cant because then its Naruto 2.0.

Their newest thing lately I've been seein the most is that BoruSara is like MinaKushi and NaruHina because Sarada stalks Boruto etc, so I thought I'd bring this reality check back since these same ppl talkin about other shippers just wanting Naruto 2.0 again.

Like I said, the only ones your foolin are yourselves cuz nobody buys your bs cuz everytime yall pull that card you put your foot in your mouth with all these 'parralels' that are suddenly ok now, but NOT ok when its any of your rival ships . Sit down.

PS: This aint the post to go into this either, but like I mentioned earlier that Bsa is actually the most unoriginal new gen ship, I could literally make a separate post showing how that is and how KawaSara and BoruSumi are actually the more unique ships of the options. You may have noticed I havent mentioned Ksu at all in this...thats because its a joke atp that I nor anybody besides their shippers take seriously, but if I must address it its literally just poorly done SS and SH with a dash of SK so why would I even bother with such a joke of a ship that exists solely to play keep away for Bsa but not because theres any legitimate basis in canon and thrives purely off headcanon and Hondas rewriting of events that amounted to nothing because, shocker, the manga wasnt building anything between them, so Honda created a completely made up foundation for nothing that they scrapped immediately and never acknowledged it again. So much for 'the anime is the complete version of the manga' yea funny how they backtracked alot of their mistakes when they saw the manga contradicting it, cuz at the end of the day the manga is the MAIN source material, so what happens there is more canon than anything the anime does afterwards.

anyways i am only on s1 e15 so this might not be canon compliant to the manga or to swordsmith village or to season 2 and happens before all of that sadness

but anywho, please enjoy this and happy reading! :D all of this was very rushed bc of how fast i wanted to write this so sorry if its bad lol

tanjiro is obviously a really determined kid, nothing really gets in the way of his journey or protecting his friends and nezuko

but i like to think that he has plenty of lovey dovey fantasies, sleeping beauty and cinderella type of thing where he thinks everyone is destined for love and that if you wish for it enough, it will come to you

but he can also be very oblivious so as much as he believes in soulmates, you would have to slap him across the face (though why would you do that?) for him to realize he was looking at the future love of his life

he's still a kid so the idea of love is very innocent to him and thats why i love him <3 but he can't really tell anyone about all of his daydreaming because zenitsu would give him a hard time and inosuke would laugh in his face

but tanjirou most definitely can't stop for too long in the places where he's assigned missions in (he wants to explore, he's naturally curious like that!) so in turn, he doesn't really have the time to fall in love or even have a crush

maybe one day he stops in a city or town, there's a festival going on and he's trying to get past all the crowds of people to get out of the city and get to his next mission

and maybe it's the cliche of you running away from someone (probably a bully) and you run into tanjirou and immediately scramble to hide behind him and beg him to help you, you'll do anything!

so now he has no choice but to give you a hand (he'd think about it for days if he didn't) and once he convinces the person to leave, you're on your hands and knees thanking him as he tries to reassure that it was his pleasure

"let me buy you a meal! it's the least i can do!" you say with a grateful smile; you don't give tanjiro time to respond as you take his hand and lead him to some food stands just a few feet away

from there, you treat tanjirou to more than just a meal, but snacks and even some local activities (im not japanese guys but i know there are plenty of super fun stuff to do)

once you actually look at him, you feel grateful that you stopped him when you did: his kind smile had you pleasantly staring at him, the way he would fluster so easily when you would compliment him, and just how overall nice he was for seemingly no reason

by the time you knew it, the streets were becoming quieter and less crowded and the night was cooling down but neither you or tanjirou had tried to stop talking

"oh, are you cold? here, you can take my haori." tanjirou says with a smile; how he had noticed the way you rubbed your hands over your arms made you flush a bit and even more so when he places the haori over your shoulders

it was warm with a soft scent you couldn't recognize on it but it wasn't necessarily unwelcome. a smile stretches onto your face before you look up at him; "aren't I supposed to be treating YOU? you must be hard to date, tanjirou." you tease, wrapping the haori over yourself a bit more as you nudge his arm

"ah, i couldn't let you spoil me like that, that would be selfish of me. i'm just as happy seeing you comfortable." he says with what you were learning was a signature smile

at that, you stop walking as a small laugh bubbles out of you which in turn makes tanjirou stop, a confused smile on his face as he looks at you; "what's so funny? did i say something?" he says as you start to step toward him

"nothing. you're just unreal, tanjirou. just perfect." you say, biting your lip to hide the growing smile on your face when you see a slight red on his cheeks now

of course, he immediately turns away and offers to walk you home, making up the excuse that he had somewhere to be the next morning; "not that i don't want to hang out, but it's pretty late! i don't think we should be out for much longer." tanjirou says when you tease him about wanting to get rid of you

once at your door, tanjirou bids you a good night but doesn't ask for his haori or move away: just stands there and looks around as you shift on your feet

"is the haori keeping you warm? it always helps me." "yes, thank you."

silence again until tanjirou clears his throat, the way red starts crawling up his neck making you tilt your head with a smile on your face

"if you're going to ask for my hand in marriage, tanjirou kamado, the answer is we are teenagers." you say, laughing when tanjirou's face turns a bright red before he starts to ramble about how those weren't his intentions

you finally get him to calm down, hand touching his arm as you squeeze it; tanjirou stands a little bit straigher when you do that, averting his eyes to the ground and mumbling an apology for losing his temper

"i need to go. but come and find me if you pass through here again. i'd be more than happy to treat you again." you say, earning a smile from tanjirou before, all in one motion, you take a step forward and kiss him on the cheek, disappearing into your home

tanjirou stands in shock with his hands hanging uselessly in the air before he realizes: he never got his haori back. he'd have to come back tomorrow. and get it. and see you.

mumbling to himself, he walks away from where you had just left him, cupping his cheek as a gentle smile starts to grow on his face

alerted by the noise and movement (and the fact that it was very late at night), nezuko pokes her head out of her box and looks to her brother who perks up at his sister's presence

"sorry about all the noise! we'll go somewhere quieter soon." tanjirou says, smiling at his sister before he stops to let her leave the box

she looks towards the spot where she had felt the presence of another person before looking at tanjirou, pointing towards the house; her brother's face flushes a bit as he looks everywhere but at her, waving her off with a nervous smile

"ah, i just...made a friend is all, don't worry about it! we should go now!" tanjirou says with a smile on his face as he takes nezuko's hand and starts to lead her away, already planning the next day with you; and totally only to get his haori back

Let alone try to kill one at a time??)

I do like some things like kolle/ctor and ge/rus and cet/rion like i like those characters but by god cetr/ion was wasted potential you cant drop her brother was fucking shinn/ok and then proceed to basically make her some weak errand girl who i feel in the end is making fun of the "divine feminine gaia" aesthetic like the writing wants her to be the bad guy but also sympathetic in the dumbest way possible and she sounds like someone on Twitter who just learned about the concept of "balance" and slaps buddha quotes incorrectly

Also i never cared for shin/nok until recently when i was like "hey wait no his concept kinda slaps actually"

At the end of the day we all have our opinions i guess. And mine is: mk new timeline is written by people who like superheroes movies when mk should be written by people who like kung fu movies

re: your wig! im sorry, thats rough. i was just shocked at how realistic it looks! can i ask if it is fun for you deciding what wig to wear next like. a new haircut for every day ending in y?

It's cool, I'm used to it! I'm not going to lie and pretend it's been easy, or that I don't wish every day that it hadn't happened. Hair loss is not fun for anybody, regardless of age or gender. With that said, of all the times mine could have picked to fall out, a global pandemic was pretty convenient in terms of giving me ample opportunity to process the experience emotionally and also acclimate to wearing hair. Every time I catch myself feeling sorry for myself, I'm like, "It's just alopecia." I mean it's not JUST alopecia but the bummer in this situation is entirely cosmetic. I know women on Instagram going through this and cancer and chemotherapy and I try to keep that perspective in mind, that of all the reasons most of my hair could have fallen out, this is hardly the worst one.

There are some things about wigs that are definitely fun, like the ability to completely change your look without damaging your hair or spending a zillion bucks at a salon. Both human hair and synthetic wig options have gotten sooooo much better even just within the past 10-15 years or so, and there's a whole indie/secondhand market that has sprung up on social media that has made finding them and buying them that much more accessible. But for the most part it's kind of a drag, lol. It's still $1500-2000 out the door every year (wigs have a finite lifespan of about 1-3 years depending on the manufacturer/wear and tear) and in the summer it's extra annoying to have something sitting on your head, even though the wigs I wear are open-wefted and allow plenty of air circulation. I wish I gave less of a shit about the whole scalp situation and felt OK leaving the house without something covering it, but it is what it is. I may get there someday!

For now I'm just happy that I have the ability to throw a wig on with as much convenience and confidence as any article of clothing from my wardrobe, and when I do I look in the mirror and feel like myself again.

Ok honestly any rivusa shipper will enjoy the comics and their stories like as a child (I collected the comics from the debut issue and in the country I live every month they would realise a new issue so I’d buy the winx comics every month) I watched the show but the comics made me genuinely love the characters and their relationship ESPECIALLY rivusa and it’s honestly thanks to the comics they solidified their spot as my otp. I mean rivusa have a whole wiki section on the winx fandom wiki dedicated solely to their comic storyline and honestly it’s so iconic. They just have great moments (like I rmb there was one issue where Musa was panicking to look presentable while she was gonna go meet riven in magix city and once she got off the bus to meet him as he’s waiting at the bus stop there’s a whole frame of them holding each other and staring into each other’s eyes and he calls her beautiful😍😍😍 and in that issue when the girls ask about him there’s a whole frame of her heart eyes with hearts in the bg as she raves to the girls “riven is very sweet and kind when you get on his good side” like PLEASE YOUR HONOUR I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and I distinctly rmb from my childhood this issue where the winx and specialists get stranded on an island back In time and Musa and Brandon are knocked out cold and even tho there’s no dialogue riven is just carrying musa to safety bridal style🥺🥺 (I think this ig acc @/rivusa._ did this thing where they screenshotted the moment he carries her in the animated cartoon and in fate and the in the comics and put all 3 side by side and idk there’s smth so fulfilling and heartwarming knowing riven will always carry musa to safety when she needs it in every version of them😭) so yes if you ever have time please go read the comics it really made me love the winx franchise as a whole even more

first answer!!! i honestly havent thought of anything beyond the realms of httyd1. the first idea that comes to my head is that they would probably both be villains, but dagur would be keeping some secret about what they "actually" do from heather (maybe because he thinks hes protecting her) and she would find out and want to leave the hunting industry, maybe something to do with windshear.

OK so while the hunting industry is an established trade without legal repercussions (beyond some dragons having protections for economic reasons), the Red Death fighting ring isn't explicitly run by the government. it could be considered illegal (because they often steal dragons legally shot down by the government, like toothless, and put them in the ring), but operates under enough legal loopholes to be known locally and keep running. its located literally underground, and all of their bases are underneath entirely legit buildings, so its tricky to shut down what they're doing without hurting innocent people. the only issue i have thinking about it is that for this arc to work i do want to make the actual red death dragon a human, but i struggle to create a scenario afterwards with other villains (like dagur or viggo) that would raise the stakes enough, considering i want to follow httyd1's plot and have hiccup lose a leg to the red death.

its funny u say that abt jobs!!! i was actually thinking of this while making outfit designs last night, lol. astrid works seasonally at a skiing place and does soccer and dragon racing (though the latter isnt working out too well for her beforehand, and she stops wanting to do it after getting involved in the gang, but feels like she has to keep it up to avoid suspicion), and does online classes at universities abroad. her parents are pretty well-off and she has free reign of a debit card, so she's really useful for buying whatever supplies as long as it can be explained (like she did for the soccer gear they wear). but all the other stuff actually makes her the least available for vigilante bullshit, which shes kind of angry about, because she wants to blow stuff up with hiccup!!!!.

i like the idea of the twins working fast food, thats rlly funny, ajhjkd. though i think ruffnut would be the only one who has a job at the start of the story, and tuffnut would only get one after they have to take care of barf + belch (because he has issues with restraining environments).

i like to think fishlegs also works part-time at a post office. he actually enjoys being there and is really fascinated by stamps, how different codes work, etc and he says it helps him with stress, which flies over everyone else's head

also do we think carl buys the alibi and becomes a bartender? i kind of like this idea, but that his version of the alibi is just slightly less of a “shithole” (elevated slightly by the money and ideas of former officer tipping) and therefore makes more money, so the fam still loves having parties there.

consider: an au where mo ran and chu wanning are idols, popular enough to have merch, where mr whos had a crush on his chu-qianbei for ages buys his plush and likes to pose his and cwns plushies like theyre kissing

literally i always love when charas make plushies of them and their crush/s/o kiss and thats the only reason theyre idols but since im already in this direction. cwn’s like an older generation idol who retired a little before mr became a trainee and ended up as his mentor

mr had always been a fan of cwn since he was younger and had saved up so much of his allowance to splurge on his merch back when he was popular, and his most prized possession is a cute plushie of his idol with a onesie that has cat ears on it…

(mr learns to sew so he can dress the plushie in a lot of different clothing, and if some of them were things like maid outfits and sailor uniforms, then that was between him and god LMAO)

idk if i really associate the poets with specific smells

but vaguely

todd prefers floral scented products, however he typically wears non-scented products until he feels more comfortable just using what he wants - non-scented because he doesn’t have an identity lol - floral scents are more feminine and romantic - the romantic side is double bonus because he’s a poet too - lavender smells are supposed to calm you down so he might be a little attracted to them but yeah im not sure in particulars - wait that last part was what todd would like to smell more wasnt it anyway, floral scents have some symbolism religiously and spiritually and i dont really headcanon todd as religious but i think the layered meanings and symbolism might be something todd-like but mostly he just likes smelling like flowers tbh - he also probably owns a shit ton of lotions all different smells, mostly floral and maybe he has a specific favorite - maybe jasmine or gardenia but yea -- he also smells like books - that new book smell, yall know what i mean - and ink - well he smells like a lot of things depending on whats happening, thats just how scents work but i think thats like the most prominent. knox definitely owns like the most basic “manly” cologne out there or like he practically bathes in axe body spray - he thinks itll impress the girls. it doesn’t. luckily he grows out of it eventually. then he leans towards lotions and soaps for smell rather than cologne and only uses a small amount if he does use cologne. he’s not particular about smell i think - he just goes to the store, sniffs, and chooses the one that smells the best

cameron typically uses stuff his parents buy or the basics that welton provides - he doesn’t really think about what smells he likes or dislikes. or well what scents he likes on himself. however, in their last year of welton, he’s helping charlie pick up all his stuff from the floor after charlie tossed it aside for one reason or the other and charlie has this one cologne that just smells really good and charlie lets him have it because charlie has a lot of his own - its sandelwood - cameron only plans on wearing it once but the day he does, todd comments that he smells nice and then turns red and stammers away but cameron quite pleased with it - he borrows todd’s lotions and charlie’s colognes and goes through a phase of wearing random ass shit that doesn’t really go well together - but his favorite scent to wear is still sandelwood

meeks probably smells like engine oil - no seriously it just makes sense to me - but also citrus with a hint of floral - citrus because its bright and refreshing and mostly because he just seems like the kind of person and floral because he also just seems like the kinda person idk it makes sense

pitts had an axe body spray but then knox started it and he learned,,, he like meeks smells like engine oils and shit but he personally likes more greens scents for lotions and colognes something lowkey but very nice if that makes sense

hi heres a look at my EPIC PETS on og neopets!!! a summery of what they are all about:

BigBluebell is my baby, precious butch daughter, i imagine her as a quaint farmer who likes living out in the country, shes painted christmas only for the brown fur and gold horns lol, shes the one i have read all the books

DarlingDaydream was created on the latest poogle day and painted pastel with one of the 4(!) FFQs i got from the faerie festival that just ended, i wanna customize her really pretty but im still planning that so shes just got the gay pride stuff on her lol

DustyDetective, as you can see from his age there, was made less than 2 days ago for me to spend another one of my FFQs on (i even shelled out some irl money for the first time to buy more pet slots orz) ive had a custom idea saved for forever on the fan site dress to impress for a steampunk uni and now im slowly working on gathering all the items for it (a few of them were part of the pool of new quest items TNT added to the faerie fest so they all suddenly jumped in price)

Flub_S2 (i call him flub season 2 for no reason) was adopted from a kind stranger here off of tumblr, he came with a zapped yellow dogglefox which looks to good together with him. right now i have him dressed like a slob bc ive imagined him as a spencer-from-icarly type weirdo artist whos just at home hanging out in his boxers with his dog painting all day lol

LordTheseus was a pound find and I loved the name so much i adopted him and made him a cunty gay guy. I painted him faerie with one of the FFQs before i realized the prize shop was basically giving away faerie pbs lol i also recently dropped like 3mil on buying him the darigan gruslen from the FF bc i missed logging in a day or two and couldnt get the prize myself ;;

SoftSybil was the first pet I made! I kinda imagine her as like the extrovert sister to the introvert Bluebell, so I painted her disco a while back and just kinda left it at that, but idk i might mix it up and totally redo her eventually i just dont know what i want with her lol

TurboFritz is also a pound find and my current lab ray pet, she started as a zafara and my goal was to zap her to robot, which is still my current goal, but for a while she was a ghost shoyru and looked pretty cool, but i still keep zapping her to try and get something cooler

im saving my remaining 4 pet slots until i really know what i want to do with them, so thats it for now!

mirio to me is the type of guy who can easily warm up to people and usually knows what to say and do. i mean after all, what do you expect from someone in the big three? so even hanging out that random silence of awkwardness would cease to exist. the more you both start getting to know each other and start creating that good rapport he’d be able to talk about anything and everything. and let's say there’s a topic you love talking about that isn’t within his knowledge, then no worries he’d be more than willing to learn and listen about it. 

when you guys are outside, potentially to go out eating and or to buy things, mirio is your man, your buddy. you bet he’d be the one doing all the talking. i mean you can’t really shut him up. anyways when you guys go out to buy stuff he’d actually buy anything you’d want and that’s a fact. he’s generous. 

pessimism is natural, anyone can feel those doubts and it’s so easy seeing things negatively. especially about oneself. but as optimistic as mirio can be he’d understand where you’re coming from and rather than saying haphazardly things like “don’t think like that” “don’t say that'' he'd be more than willing to hear you out and encourage the hell out of you. because no one deserves to be thought about like that especially from us. 

your bluntness in my headcanon is something that catches him off guard sometimes, though he’d appreciate the bluntness. he’s most definitely the type to accept critical criticism or just anything about him. in terms of self-improvement. 

every time you have that burst of energy mirio would think that it’s cute. and sometimes if not most times would be highly fascinated with your daydreams and would actually give great writing ideas to write about as they’re not too complex and can be worked around rather quickly. 

there’s a funny little headcanon i have where he doesn’t mean to put a bug at your face, he just thought the stick bug was really cool and knew to some degree you’d research about them potentially. 

he’d wouldn’t even notice your lisp and would actually say that he doesn’t hear it. but till one day he really notices it and his world opened anew.

I think it's awesome that you can't relate to the adults finding books they like thing! My problem is that if I have to put that much research into learning about the book, then I don't enjoy reading it nearly as much. Reading is so much about the journey of the story. But I have a question: I also find that reviews and opinions are biased by nature and I often come out with a thoroughly different take. What kind of research do you trust to be accurate to your tastes?

☝🏽first of all i'll say that im not an adult 😅

very much still a teen, but the reason i said that i don't relate (what i actually meant was that i probably wont relate) to the struggle in picking books when the transition from reading YA to adult fiction happens, is because i've always tended to find out as much about the book as i can before actually buying it (i try to avoid serious spoilers, but i sometimes i don't really care, and i don't avoid getting exposed to content from the fandom) so that i am sure that the investment of my time and energy into reading it will be worth it.

so i find that i actually can't just pick any book off the shelves of a book store from the YA section whenever i want to read something; i have to know about it in order to be interested enough to start reading. thats just the way i am i guess.

now obviously, reviews and such are going to be biased and i don't find them very helpful. so whenever i have a book in mind i want to try, i might try to get a snippet of what the plot is about. sometimes i'll look in the tags of the thing on tumblr and try to piece together (some of) the plot based on fandoms talking about it. sometimes i might just like, google it and try to find a sort of summary. i also need to know the genre, of course, because i heavily lean towards fantasy and sci-fi.

after that, its about the writing style. sometimes i just give up after this stage and either buy it or forget about it, but if i need to i'll download a sample on kindle and if im at this stage i'll probably buy the thing anyway (unless the writing is absolute garbage lol)

for me i generally only read the books i already have in mind that pique my interest, so the problem of choosing books doesn't arise. i also have a nice long tbr of books i already know some stuff about, so i know i'll like those things, but before buying i usually do go through all this research, just because i don't think i'd be motivated to read something i don't have all this information about.

(this doesn't always work; sometimes i still end up unsatisfied with a book/ series but that can't always be helped. sometimes i do also buy stuff on impulse when i see it in a store, but i NEED to read the blurb. if you don't put blurbs on the back of books i hate you)

So the entire au is pretty much set in the DH world and im ashamed to say ive invested too much brain power to it.

But the way it comes about is Skully and Zazu are kind of a thing and just starting to come into their feelings and one day Skully buys them a pair of matching braclets he finds. He thinks its a totally normal present to get your platonic?/romantic??? pal, bud, cherished person, guy you hang out with a lot.

Until Timon tells him its pretty much a friendship braclet and actually really dumb. So Skully gets all self conscious and tries to take it back but Zazu lets him know he actually likes it and is still wearing it. They have a heart to heart and that triggers the braclets and makes them fuse for the first time.

yeah so its totally ripping off the relationship parallels in SU but in this the jewelry is whats needed for it to work. Where they came from is a mystery but something something legends say they contain bits of the gods powers in the jewels and the gods gifted them to their followers so that they could use them in times of need. They need more than 1 person to work cause no single person could handle that power.

So thats why i reason all the fusions designs look like gods or famous mythical figures. But really i just think its cool to make things reference something else.

But anyway. They fuse and freak a little but as soon as they figure out they can fly theyre all "Lets just keep this between us."

Then Monsters start showing up cause they have to fight something lol and more jewelry pops up and more friends fuse.

For your question, they dont fuse often at first, only occasionally in the dead of night so that people won't freak out about the giant bird man spotted in the woods. Until one day students spot him and confront him about it. After the first monster fight they're crazy about him and through the students the othwr teachers find out and are put in fusion related situations cause they either borrow the bird's braclets or find their own. But otherwise, no one fuses unless its an emergency. Zazu and Skully eventually do it anytime they want tho cause they like it so much

I have a Mulan and Peter fusion based on Sun Wukong and a Peacock and Sarabi fusion based on Anansi i need to draw but basically the more they fuse, the more powerful and self aware Peacock gets until hes basically his own person coming into Zazu and Skullys dreams telling them about the impending world destruction unless they fix it lol
