Not to be That Guy but like.
Am I the only one that can't stop thinking about how Tianlang-Jun says about Luo Binghe that he pretends to be cold-hearted like his mother. The hint of fondness there, the heartache in that utterance.
Like it drives me absolutely insane. Imagining her putting on a front of strength, cold and driven and unrelenting. Why does TLJ say that about her. Did she secretly look for solutions that meant reconciling with demons instead of hurting them when her sect wasn't looking? (I wonder this because I feel like his weird fondness for SQQ would lowkey track if it's connected to the woman he once loved.) Did he mean that she was tasked with basically assassinating him and she fell in love with him instead (re: failed step one)? Did he mean that she was fond and doting in her own way (e.g. conceding he was attractive, paying for his exploits and humoring him)? Did he mean that, like LBH, she thought that power would be the thing to protect her--and that it was disguising a person who was deeply and privately wounded? All four????? I don't need sleep I need a n s w e r s
Did she know about the Huanhua Palace Master's skeevy ass intentions before she met TLJ? Or did those only come to significant light after she fell in love with TLJ? Is that why she never anticipated that level of betrayal, because initially she had no intention of being with anyone romantically? And HHPM just assumed she would be under his thumb forever?? Was she furious at her own indiscretion or did she try to use the pregnancy as a bargaining chip, a way to try to stop the immortals of Cang Qiong Mountain from attacking TLJ (plus the bonus of marriage entrapment no takesies backsies this is where LBH gets it from)? Did she try to use that claim on her to dissuade HHPM from his covetous advances, framing herself as tainted so that she could finally escape? Did she dream of a life by TLJ's side, far away from Cang Qiong Mountain?
Like. Literally every single permutation of what this could mean guts me to hell. Do you ever just cry about tianxi because I--[loud bawling noises]

hii! honeslty just curious, I read/watched kuroshitsuji AGES ago and I don't think I've finished the manga anyway, does grell go by she/her?? I vageuly remember ppl headcanonning them as enby though iirc in canon he's a guy?
Your tags peaked my curiosity, I haven't seen any Kuro content in a hot minute, but I remember it being the absolute must watch in my peak anime watching years lol And I absolutely loved the manga's artstyle
in canon grell is a trans woman, yana toboso has said something like "grell is a man with a woman's heart" ages ago and sometimes around 2014/16 had tweeted something about wanting to be more careful with her representation of people like grell in the future, don't quote me on that thought because i only read that tweet once and only remember reading a shitty screenshot of a translation of that interview where she allegedly said that.
i can however show you this:
it's from a bonus chapter (after chapter 108) about the popularity polls (it's a very convoluted non canon chapter) but it's one of the most blatant example of her being trans.
there's also the way she constantly refers to herself as a "young maiden" ect. idk how it goes exactly in the og but in french they translated it so grell always refers to herself with feminine terms while everyone else misgender her including the narrator. she very consistently reaffirm herself as a woman through every single ones of her appearances, like it's a thing she very much does, every single time she's on screen.
i haven't watched the anime in forever (cause it's kind of a disgrace and insult to the manga lol) but if i remember properly (which i mostly likely don't) they did omit/lowkey censor some of grell explicitly going "i wish i had been born a woman/could have been able to carry children" when she first properly introduce herself as a shinigami & the other half of jack the killer. (the anime also really did lean a lot more into the pervert queer caricature whereas in the manga she's given a bit more dignity, especially the further the story goes. though that might be my own impression and maybe it didn't change that much i just love her a whole lot).
also because i have to, please forget the anime (the first two seasons that is) and read the manga first and foremost because oh boy, what a disaster the anime is (nostlagia and atmosphere wise it's entertaining, i really love the op & ed, but it just, i just cant man it doesn't even compare to the manga at all). only watch book of circus -> book of murder -> campania movie -> the new private school arc that's coming soon (idk what they called it) after reading the manga.

Ive seen some people get mixed up (also sorry if this comes off pompous I swear I'm not I just really fuckin enjoy these movies ghggb) so I'd like to clarify that the Big Bad Wolf is an already established character in the Shrek world.
And he's just some guy. He also might transform into a human woman with a strong accent when there's a full moon according to a halloween special but ya know.
The wolf that chases Puss in Last Wish tho is, Death, straight up, as he said.
Some promotional media did advertise him as the double b wolf but that was just to not spoil the surprise. (Apparently some promos would also just call him The Wolf so yeup.)
However, it's also not unreasonable to mix up the 2 since in Shrek's ogreverse (ogre universe I NEED to coin the phrase c'mon now) there's been a few number of soft rebooted characters from a lot of Shrek media.
But to go off strictly from the movies, the 2 most obvious examples are Rumpelstiltskin and the 3 bears.
The left depictions are really just one-off jokes/background characters that rarely appeared in more than 5 scenes from previous movies (Shrek 3 and 1 respectively), while the right depictions are the later focused antagonists that got plenty of screen time (Shrek 4ever after and Puss in Boots 2 the Last Wish respectively).
The difference tho is that the original depictions are really Just one-off jokes. Nothing more than just something in the background. The Big Bad Wolf however is an already established part of Shrek's friend group alongside the 3 little pigs, Pinocchio and Gingy.
Basically, not someone they could just easily make a soft reboot about like with the aforementioned 2 examples.
It is incredibly likely tho that DreamWorks did base Death a bit off of the real life folklore of the Big Bad Wolf. Considering how much they love old tales, and how much old stories had him as the main antagonist. (Plus c'mon. Wolf from Bad Guys literally says he's the big bad in every story, they're definitely self aware at this point.)
Having the penultimate depiction of the end of life itself in their fairytale inspired long-running world be loosely based on the most popular antagonist from old folklore stories is most likely on purpose, and I gotta say, based.
It's also likely that Death can take whatever form he chooses. But I'm cool with gnarly wolf form. 👍

Fernando 2012 Chair Lore (source: me)
So I've been thinking a lot about Fernando sitting in this particular chair in the Ferrari garage in 2012 for [redacted] reasons:
Originally I just wanted to find more pictures of it for reference, and then went down a rabbit hole of 2012 pictures, trying to figure out when exactly the chair came to be. There's so many pictures of him in it, and it's so funny to me to imagine them hauling this super villain chair all around the world for him. And so now I'm obsessed with the evolution of it:
Pre-Chair - Australia to Bahrain:
He just had this little stool, well I should say big because it somehow still manages makes him look small. Clearly not comfortable; to paraphrase @sweatyflytrap, it's not conducive to his inner Shakespeare villain monologues
The Chair Appears - Spain
He suddenly now has this, aforementioned, super villain chair. Several things, why is it like this. It looks like a sim chair almost ngl. And then the weird plexiglass support is confusing me, like where did they get that. It furthers my narrative they just had this chair that they couldn't put in a car so they put that clear bottom on it. Anyways yes good, now he has somewhere to brood
The Chair Evolves - Silverstone
Look!! They gave him a booster seat!!!
The Chair is Now Here to Stay :)
I downloaded a truly horrible amount of pics him in this chair, so now you all must also look at them >:)
*he still had the chair in 2013, but I think they took it away from him in 2014 :( Is nothing sacred in this world??? I hope he got to take it home hahaha

i don’t know what words best describe the feelings i get when i watch s2e2 is except for maybe “really fucking intense”
he’s screaming and begging for death and they have to stifle his pleas because they’re so desperate to keep him quiet and alive. ed knows something is up. he can fucking smell it. that’s his dog. his faithful, loyal iz. as if he wouldn’t know the visceral smell of that dog’s body and soul at its lowest, most rotten points. like he wouldn’t recognize the smell of such a “poisoned atomosphere” in the dog’s own words… really fucking intense
ed gives him what he believes is his last order, a command to kill him just like he dreamt about, only for the bloody, sweaty, infected, ever-devoted, pain-in-the-arse, willing to please, spiteful, vengeful, fucking disgusting dog to laugh in his face and tell him to fuck off… really fucking intense
he’s told him to fuck off before. he’s told him he’s done before. he’s told him he’s a shell of a man, and a namby-pamby, and poisonous. but this time is different. ed gives the order and the dog not only hesitates, but starts laughing. uncharacteristic, haunting laughter that doesn’t sound like it belongs to him. dogs like him don’t laugh like that, much less at their master. but it’s unbelievable, the command, as is the rest of ed’s behavior. it’s laughable. the idea of ed ordering the attack on himself… really fucking intense
does ed think that he’ll do it? does he think that he won’t? he doesn’t care either way. he’ll probably do it, but his lack of toes proves how inconsistent he is with following orders these days, so who knows? he might be too weak and faithful to do it to himself. he might be too strong and poorly-behaved to do it for ed. he doesn’t know. it hardly matters. they’re both dead anyways. goners. should’ve packed it in years ago… really fucking intense
fine. if he can’t follow a simple order, he might as well finish the job. make it fast. fuck off like he swore to do so long ago, for real this time. not like ed could kill him either, so maybe it’s fair. couldn’t kill anyone, much less his “friend” as it were. fine. that fucker is faithful and strong enough to at least do it to himself. “i loved you best i could” and it’s done. quick. fine. fuck off. til death do we part and all that fucking bullshit. good. fucking off. that’s a magnificent storm. perfect… really fucking intense
it’s about to be over. heading straight for it. steering the ship into the storm. not even steering it anymore. he really hasn’t been for some time, being honest. it’ll all be over soon, if he could just— shot, by the same dog he shot. the one he just pleaded for death from. who shot himself, he heard it. of course, maybe it was just a fuckery. a trick. maybe he— no. was obviously just shot, fucking gash like that, christ. hobbled himself up here on one foot on an ocean ed knows must be nauseating and— “indestructible little fucker” why the fuck can’t he just die? why the fuck can’t either of them seem to fucking die?… really really fucking intense
standing over him. finally. put him in his rightful place, on the floor at their mercy, or lack thereof. kill him. fucking do it. fucking do it. “finally :)” uhh… really really really intense
to further articulate: i think the writers of the show clearly know what it’s like to hate yourself and to have complicated feelings with the relationships that make you that way. the next ep obviously gets further into those themes but that only further proves my point and this episode is just so intense. they seem to really get what’s it like to fucking hate yourself and your life and be so unhinged that you’d be willing to bring others down with you because you just. can’t be bothered. to care. and you cry out for help but nobody is any help and they’re long tired of it and of you anyways and hell maybe driving them away is the solution tk your problems anyways since people are the cause of all your problems. yeahhh. writers really said “this one’s for all the homies who ever self-harmed” idk that’s not my only take but it is a big one floating around my head
