Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 45
The Doctor owes Casanova a chicken because he helped save the world by making out with one of the most decorated Sontaran generals (thus giving the Doctor time to blow stuff up). (Audio: The House of Masks)
Braxiatel will one day have his own K9. It will be given to him by a friend he hasn't met yet. (Audio: Weapon of Choice)
Braxiatel owns a bar in the 27th century called the White Rabbit. (Audio: Everyone Loves Irving)
Fitz Kreiner once described the TARDIS kitchen as being a cross between a medieval kitchen and Frankenstein's laboratory. (Novel: Autumn Mist)
By some accounts, Morgaine is an alternate universe version of the Master where there were Magic Lords instead of Time Lords. (Novel: The Monster Vault)
The Forge is an English intelligence organization that often experiments with nonhuman lifeforms for their own purposes. Their Project Lazarus was the Doctor; they wanted to find a way to replicate regeneration. (Audio: Project: Lazarus)
Mickey and Martha encountered the Ninth Doctor, Rose, and Jack after they got married. Mickey had sent the Doctor a message to get some help because Martha was transforming into a Gargoyle. Both of them were quite annoyed that Mickey had managed to get the "wrong" Doctor. (Comic: The Transformed)
The Doctor speaks cow (telepathically, of course, because doing so verbally would be silly). (Audio: The End)
Quiquaequod is an alternate version of the Eighth Doctor who was a wizard. He summoned fire to defeat Darcoul, but he accidentally caught his apprentice's cape on fire. His apprentice then burned to death in front of him. (Comic: The Glorious Dead)
An alternate version of the Master that traveled with the Doctor was an android (that the Doctor had built to save him). His face kept on falling off. (TV/Novel: Scream of the Shalka)
There are legends that the Web of Time was woven by time spiders, but they were killed when the Time Lords started exploring the vortex. Occasionally, they had to do pest control as one would pop up every now and then. (Audio: The End)
The Master had a sword fight with the Eighth Doctor and ended up stabbing him in the chest. (Comic: The Glorious Dead)
Addison Delamar once tried to auction off the Ninth Doctor's memories, so he instead broadcasted them to everyone. They were all so overwhelmed by his grief that they ran away. (Comic: The Bidding War)
Attending this auction was the Church of the Evergreen Man, who consider the Doctor to be a Messiah. They called him "the Prophet, blessed be his divine countenance." (Comic: The Bidding War)
The Church of the Evergreen Man also maintained the Oakdown Gallery, where the only confirmed painting of the Master is. (Short story: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe)

If you’re new to my work (which you might be because I’m new to Tumblr), I’m a comic artist. Biggest comics I’ve drawn so far are:
The Autumnal, a nearly 200 page horror comic by writer Daniel Kraus (The Shape of Water), myself, and colored by Jason Wordie, lettered by Jim Campbell, and published by Vault Comics.
House of Slaughter (Vol 1), a spin-off of critically acclaimed series Something Is Killing The Children, written by James Tynion IV and Tate Brombal, drawn by me, colored by Miquel Muerto, and lettered by Andworld. Published by BOOM! Studios.
I’m currently working on 2 comic series that are coming out monthly, also from Vault and Boom:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightfall Double Feature is a horror double feature, 2 ongoing horror titles in one book each month. 60 pages of comic in each issue. The story I’m doing in that is called Denizen, it’s written by DB Andry and Tim Daniel, colored by Jason Wordie, and lettered by Andworld. Published by Vault Comics.
Specs is a horror comic by writer David Booher (Canto), drawn by me, colored by Roman Stevens, and lettered by Jim Campbell. Published by BOOM! Studios.
Other than that, I’ve contributed to anthologies like Young Men In Love, Bi Visibility Vol 2, and I’ve done covers for almost every publisher.

Speaking of horror/art and it's evolution do you have any favorite horror comics from different eras? Like how the classic Creepy comics is ever so slightly different in tone from from the modern ones or even anthologies like Razorblades and Cringe. And how with stuff like Aftershock (Animosity, Baby Teeth, The Vineyard), Vault (The Plot, The Autumnal, Resonant), and Image (SIKTC, Manifest Destiny, DOT) modern comic teams capture the pre comics code spirit of horror they tried to suppress in the 50s/60s?
It's so funny you brought this up because when in texas, I went to this big comic shop with my friends and bought some horror comics. this might end up being me having a big essay in different reblogs to this post lmao
Pentagram of Horror

Creepshow

and blood-stained teeth
Tumblr media
I think I might Tales of the crypt and like Creepshow's tie in cause I do enjoy Tales from the crypt and it's probably a basic answer when talking about 1950s-1960s answer but the background of it is so great. I think something is exciting and cool about horror comics compared to Movies in the same way Animation is where for a while it was more seen as a kid media, so you have these kids buying horror comics and reading them under their bed at night which is why I LOVE this piece byJack Kamen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Movie posters but still they understood who their audience was when these comics were coming out)
I think Creepshow overall is mean spirit, but it's sort of find in that way since most of the cats in these comics are assholes compared to something like Tales from the Crypt, which is less mean-spirited and more humor in a way and Like Creepshow is supposed to be an homage to Tales from the Crypt- but like again, it was these teens and kids reading Tales from the Crypt during the time which is why I find it so interesting in their movies they this Disney like kind of style for their horror bits/intermissions/B plot

Thanks for the tag, @islanderscaper!
A scent you love: Freshly-baked bread
What's something you're looking forward to this week? I've got a few TTRPG sessions I'm looking forward to! Heart is coming back tomorrow after a break, in which we poor souls are delving through a dead city that takes physics as a neat suggestion. On Friday, I'll be part of a session zero for a Fallout game, where the best character idea I currently have is an incredibly average but also extremely lucky Vault Dweller. Last, after a vacation hiatus and a cancellation on account of sickness last week, I'll be GMing my Scum & Villainy game again, in which the crew is currently at war with two of the most powerful factions in the game following an entire space station disappearing.
What's a book you're currently reading? Comic books-wise, I'm currently going through Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider and Sandman Mystery Theatre. I haven't really read Spider-Man (or adjacent) comics before, so it's a mostly sight-unseen experience switching off with the far more noir Mystery Theatre. Novels-wise, I'm reading Perdido Street Station, but it's been a while since I've actually sat down with it.
What's a game you're currently playing? I've been playing FFXIV almost daily, but I want to mention Suzerain! Suzerain is a political narrative game in which you play Anton Rayne, the newly elected president of the Republic of Sordland, a country in a fictional world that's situationally and aesthetically like the real world 1950s. It had its 2.0 release a few days ago and I'm very interested to go through it again with all of its new features and content.
What's the most recent movie you watched? Depending on what recent you're looking for, that could either be Nimona (the latest release I've seen) or Moulin Rouge (the last movie I've seen). Nimona was essentially unknown to me before I saw it, but I loved it. Meanwhile, Moulin Rouge was (kinda as expected) a fever dream. A very nice fever dream with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman singing, but a fever dream nonetheless.
Are you watching anything on TV or listening to any shows? Both! I usually have something on one of my screens while I'm working or gaming, and my go-to background show has been a rewatch of M*A*S*H, one of my favorite shows on TV. I'm on season 7 currently. For listening, my podcast of choice is Mobile Suit Breakdown, a show where the hosts watch and discuss all of Gundam in chronological order. As of this evening, they're on episodes 3 and 4 of Gundam Double Zeta.
Favorite season? Autumn, especially back when I lived in Boston. Fall in New England is a treat.
What's something you've learned recently? A couple weeks ago, I learned that the takeout boxes we associate with Chinese takeout were first created in 1890s and have been used for Chinese takeout since the 1910s. I also learned that they're called oyster pails!
Have you had any water lately? Yes! I refilled my water bottle and got some tea.

Editor’s Note (08/07/22)
The Autumn Keynote is a bit behind us now. It's available to read. The radio and delivery portion will still be available shortly. Schoolyard Omellete will return this week. Both weekly, and dailies will be coming. Scramble will be starting this month as well. Little Black Hood will kick all of that off. Ebie will be getting Omelette up and running soon. So that both sites will parallel each other.
The Schoolbrary will be getting updated for One Dollar Books, and Simpleshirt products. Shirts collaboration with The Vault will start this week. Check the Friday Night, and the Schoolbrary section of news for more information. Also, the Simpleshirt, BookBot, and Icebox Arcade Official Blogs, will be returning as well. Here you will see exclusive information dedicated to each division.
Friday Night Shorts, and Poetry will be returning this week as well. New short stories, and comics will be coming during Autumn and beyond. New poetry works will be making their return as well. It's important to get Schoolyard digital up and running. New poetry works will still be arriving, without the Summer Of Poetry behind them. New digital comic line will be arriving as well. From Itch.io to Google Books. That's it for now. The weather is wild, but nature is educating us. So think about how to bring a little piece of magic, and fight the machine any way you can. Take care. And as always... -Enjoi

The original guide for watching Doctor Who, torchwood.& the Sarah Jane adventures is wrong. The episode titles in our dates don't lineup properly. So the episode titles and numbers don't match because the list was done in three separate columns. I have a better method that will get the perfect list for people who are old and new whovian's. Also this list is re-organized into one single column instead of three separate columns to make it easier for whovian 's to follow. This version of the list is modified for the USA.

It was a pretty Autumn day. The sky cloudless and a perfect deep blue. Pleasantly warm and just the slightest whisper of a breeze. A perfect day for the park, for a trip to the lake, to go to the local super duper mart to buy a costume for Halloween. An unassuming kind of day, one expected to go as mundane as any.
One that should have been mundane.
One that wasn’t.
Jesse was at the kitchen table, enjoying a midday bowl of Sugar Bombs and reading the latest issue of Grognak the Barbarian. A normal routine these days.
Jess had flipped on the TV some moments ago needing the background noise. The monotone drone of the announcer came through in a buzz. Jesse continued her comic. A dog barked in the distance. The news anchor droned on...
Then something shifted. The news anchors usually upbeat voice grew grim. Jesse raised her eyes. The dog went silent.
“Followed by... yes, followed by flashes. Blinding flashes. Sound of explosions... we’re... uh we’re trying to get confirmation,”
Jesse’s breath stilled, something cold and numb washing over her.
“But we seem to have lost contact with our affiliate station...”
There was a pause. Nothing but silence and then;
“Yes, we do have... coming in... that is, uh, confirmed reports. I repeat, confirmed reports of nuclear detonations in New York and Pennsylvania as well as one heading for Boston,” the news anchors voice dipped and then trembled, “My God...”
The world stilled. Jesse’s breath hitching as her fingers involuntarily laxed around her spoon; the utensil dropping into the milk and splashing up onto her shirt and table. She blinked once then twice. The stillness shattered with a shriek from someone she could only assume was her neighbor. The TV now only showed the standby screen.
Jesse pushed herself up from the table quickly and bolted for her door. She was greeted outside by her neighbors all running up the street. Momentarily, she was confused then her eyes caught on the Vault-Tec billboard.
The vault.
She broke into a sprint falling in line with the rest of the panicked crowd all along watching the sky. She couldn’t see the missile. Perhaps that was a good thing. There was a dense crowd leading up the gated, guard-protected entrance. Jesse weaved her way to the front, mind blank.
“Name?” the guard asked firmly. Jesse blinked eyes darting to the sky. Searching for the missile and finding nothing once more.
“NAME?!”
She jumped and stuttered out: “Jesse Lawrence!”
The guard flipped through a clipboard quickly. The was a clamor from the crowd. A cacophony of panic. Jesse’s gaze shot to the skies again. Nothing.
“No ‘Jesse Lawrence’ on the list.”
Jesse blinked. “What?”
“There is no ‘Jesse Lawrence’ on the list. Just Tanya Lawrence and Alvin Lawrence.”
Jesse blinked again. “There has to be a~”
Before ‘mistake’ could leave her mouth, Jesse remembered that when her mother and father applied for entrance to the vault that her app had been declined... over a typo in her birthdate.
They had planned to clear that up the following week; after her parents got back from California...
“I’m gonna have to ask you to step away from the gate, miss,”
Jesse inhaled sharply. “But...”
“Or I will use force to make you.”
Jesse jumped back with a yelp as the soldier lifted their gun, her hands up as she backed away. She turned on her heel afterward. Everything numbing as she absently made her way back down the dirt path into town. She passed neighbor after neighbor that was scrambling up the path to the vault that was an annoyance but now salvation.
She stopped at the oak tree in the middle of the culdesac. Her eyes finally lifting to the sky. Nothing. Maybe they had been wrong. Maybe this was just a scare. Maybe nothing was wrong...
Someone else shuffled up next to her. Jesse’s gaze cut over to them and she blinked.
She had went to school with him. They were part of the same graduating class. She had only recently found out they only lived a block from each other. She found her heart aching. He must have been denied entry too.
His eyes turned to her. She always remembered the young man looking tough, cocky, mean. Right now, he had tears glistening in his eyes and a tremble in his frame that matched her own. They just looked at each other for awhile.
“Jesse, right?” his voice shook. It wasn’t at all what she remembered.
Jesse nodded. “Was it Aiden or Aymin?”
“Aiden.”
It went quiet between them or as quiet as hysteria could be. Aiden had always been a bully. Though he had mellowed out in about 10th grade. From then, they were just acquaintances. Jesse had paid him no mind and he paid her none in return. She had always wanted to try making friends with him. The opportunity was just missed and, now, was gone forever.
“Why aren’t you in the vault, Jesse? I know I saw you and your parents at the vault-tec office.”
She frowned gaze darting away from him. “There was a mistake on my application. I wasn’t put on the list.”
“I’m sorry.” he murmured.
“Why aren’t you?”
“There were only three spots left. So I chose to stay while my sister got into the vault.”
Jesse blinked at him. She hadn’t taken him as the selfless type.
“I’m so sorry.”
“It-it had to be her.”
Silence stole in again. Something flashed in the sky. Her breath hitched.
The missile had entered the atmosphere.
She watched the smoke trail from the tail of it. They had all feared this day. The day when tensions grew to taut. When the war would finally destroy them all. And here they were standing in the fire. She wondered if her mother and father were safe.
She wondered if they knew she wasn’t.
Her legs gave out from under her and she landed on her knees in the dirt. Aiden knelt down with her. They watched the missile’s distance grow closer and closer to the ground. A air strike siren could be heard in the distance. The ground rumbled as vault 111 closed its doors. Jesse could only think about everything she didn’t do. She didn’t get to tell her mother and father ‘I love you’ that day. She didn’t get to know the boy next to her.
A hand connected with hers. She turned to Aiden and he turned to her. Their fingers interlaced. She decided to only look at him. There was a flash followed by an explosion.
And then nothing.

Rush Amid The Rapids.
Rush Amid The Rapids.
“Must I always be posting transactions?” I said to myself, Landon Croaker, accountant, adjusting my backpack as I rambled up a ragged winding woodland path.
A granite strewn gulag odyssey lay ahead.
There was the usual green stew of ornate plants.
Ancient Fir Clubmoss which grows into a chalice- like shape.
The St Patrick’s cabbage, with thick leather zig zag veins.
Hapless Fraochan and Whortleberry shrub’s pendant fruit so symmetrical.
I brought my notebook with me.
Closet novelist or bard one day?
Canopy of lattice branch springboards abound.
Shrieks
from stunned squirrels leaping in the arc of a trapeze with blue jay alarm signal.
Rustle of rabbits under slender stalks.
Puffball cloud and brown-dust spore floaters.
A wastrel I was within the wilds.
I was getting close to where my friends, a husband and wife team lived and ran a fringe publishing company.
They resided in a cherry wood log cabin with tongue and groove cladding and a pine timbered roof lantern peering down a mountain side.
Like a watchtower the mountain sat in sinister observance.
A fallow deer suddenly appeared.
It looked furtively with startled eyes as if it knew something I didn’t.
Within minutes it vanished.
Flies swarmed about, the spooky whistleblowers on this solitary hiker’s grazed cheeks.
My clothes were wringing wet from the sweltering heat.
The curious urban spirit drove me on.
Chambered cairns, those passage tunnels from the past that act as stone markers for the venturer were rife.
Platform mounds whose ribboned cracks and gouges play host to strongly rooted Chasmophytes.
There was a lurking presence as the cabin became visible.
“Hello, there. Fancy seeing you here.
Welcome back.”
Chelsea, in a croaking baby twang.
“Oh …you frightened me.” Landon said.
I nearly toppled.
Chelsea dashed towards me.
“A bit worried there, Landon.
What a surprise!
We like surprising people too.”
I paused and replied.
“It’s the unexpected that adds spice to this life business and others!”
Landon sardonically.
“You sound tired.”
Chelsea replied.
“We’ll change that. We’ll change everything about your life now you’re here.”
The ramifications of that would soon unfold.
“The last time I was here we talked about having children.
Any decision yet?
You could always adopt.”
I continued.
“Don’t have to.
Got my husband and he’s got me.” She said.
“We’re both kids at heart.”
Her sad voice trailing off.
“This location seems ideal but there’s schooling and everything.”
Chelsea hesitantly.
“Nothing that couldn’t be resolved.”
Landon in reply.
Croaker sensed Chelsea’s unease and didn’t continue.
“Hey, what’s this?” Croaker cried as two apples landed at his feet.
“Yahoo. You two.”
Chesney, Chelsea’s husband shouted.
“It’s been so long.
Doesn’t time fly?”
Chesney again.
While walking it dawned on Landon how dewy-eyed and child-like this couple were.
.
Entering the cabin seemed like something from a storybook.
Cartoon mosaics attached to fool’s gold borders, zip purse smashed purple bead inserts, and shredded comic strips.
“There are shrouds of deep mystery here.”
Croaker thought.
“Hey Snap.
What’s accountancy like these days?”
Chesney’s smug question.
“Nothing really changes.
Investment investment hazards and the like.
It’s a world I drifted into.
How about your company in paradise.”
Croaker sarcastically.
“Publishing is odd.
You almost become the stories submitted.”
Chesney observed.
“Birth and regrowth are gaining interest.
Am I boring you?” Chesney enquired.
“Well, it beats accountancy.”
Landon tactfully.
A salad of roasted lemon, fennel fronds and pomegranate was served with
guacamole dip based on chunky avocado.
After our meal we washed up
Chelsea’s phantom figure scurried outside with Olympic speed.
It was so redolent of the suddenness about.
A rapt cocoon descended around Chesney and Landon’s interaction.
Landon quizzed Chesney about the urban country rift.
Tranquil timberlands have their own stressors.
“See those creatures slumped awkwardly on fragile twigs?
They sense pending doom.”
Chesney observed.
“Can you really escape hectic city life?”
A querulous tone from Chesney.
“Maybe these divisions are fictional.”
Landon archly.
“Thud. What’s that?”
Chesney shaking.
Chelsea entered.
“Oh dear .. let’s say a homing pigeon.
They’re a strange breed.”
She said smugly.
“Very strange indeed.”
Chesney out loud.
Chelsea and Chesney exchange strained silent glances.
A circus of the wilds continued outside as species vied with species in an ego fanfare.
Chirping robin red breasts,
wing scraping crickets in high chorus.
Vulcan steam curtain as backdrop.
Horseshoe Bats that weave rainbow shafts.
Daddy long legs with their cancan dances on sodden patches.
“Excuse me …..ring a bell?” Chesney diverting Landon’s attention with a broken fragment.
Landon bought this autumn crocus crystal vase on a previous sojourn.
It slipped from his hands in a butter fingers incident.
Croaker uttered the words “my lasting gift” as it fell.
Cackles erupted but frustration for Landon.
“A hilarious keepsake after a fashion.”
Chelsea opined.
“Really?”
Said Landon embarrassed by this anecdote.
The hours passed and they were both tired.
Landon saw Chesney remove a letter from a ring pull drawer.
“Just an old bill. Must shred it.” He said.
“Why would Chesney explain that?
His face reddened.
Curious.” Landon thought.
Shuffling to bed Landon did notice
pink salmon eiderdowns, pillows with children sleeping under moonlit skies, and Milky Way throw blankets.
The night passed uneventfully.
There were some noises in the kitchen as morning approached.
Having woken sluggishly Croaker walked into the dinning area.
A sense of foreboding filled the room.
Landon grappled awkwardly with claustrophobia.
It was disrupted by the chatter of the chestnut -sided warbler.
An oak hook tip moth added charm with its zoom and flutter acrobatics.
“I’ve the creepiest feeling.”
Croaker reasoned.
“BUZZZ ……..Buzzzzz ……Boing.”
My old cell-phone’s text tone.
My boss. Wonder what he wants?”
Landon to himself.
“Dear Landon,
When you return I would like to speak to you about your future with this company.
I can’t go into further details
as it involves a lot of interested parties.
A wide -ranging discussion is in order,
Regards,
Tom Wright
Managing Director.”
Landon’s worst fears now confirmed.
“I’m confused.
Just how pressing is this or …. what is this in front of me?”
A letter from Chesney and Chelsea.
“Hi Landon,
We had to leave quickly.
Help yourself to whatever largesse there is.
Don’t know how long we’ll be.
You can hang around of course or leave.
Don’t break anything!!
Ha ha,
Ches and Chels.”
Incredible! Between the text and the letter who wouldn’t be alarmed?
Landon limped outside to an ear splitting din and a mist laden detritus that merged into pockets of streams steeplechasing each other.
A slimy frog vaulted and cast a damp viscous oil spray in Croaker’s direction.
Something ….a shadow.
“This has been the most peculiar visit I’ve ever had.
Intrigue seems encoded in it.”
Croaker’s anxiety growing.
A tap on the shoulder followed by a crystal shard at his feet.
“The vase remember?
Don’t be so serious ……..we’ve something to discuss with you.”
Chesney said pointedly.
“An Agatha Christie mystery novel has nothing on this.”
Landon fretted.
“We’ve been reflecting, Chelsea and I.
Your presence is an extraordinary coincidence.”
Chesney quizzically.
“We’d like to offer you a job as our accountant.”
Chelsea suggested.
Croaker now shivering.
“You know by now we love to jumpstart even our closest friends.
This post is tailor made for you.”
Chelsea once more.
“Your boss will understand.”
Croaker’s head was now in a spin.
“You like writing don’t you?
There’s plenty of stories here.”
Chelsea opined.
“All this trouble to offer me a job?” Croaker queried.
“We don’t do things by halves.”
Chelsea with Chesney nodding.
A carousel of thoughts flashed through Landon’s mind at this juncture.
He walked in a trance struggling with everything.
“What was in Chelsea’s sports bag I wonder?” Thought Croaker.
“Let’s go for a swim, Landon.
I’ve got swim trunks for us all.”
Chelsea tossed a nylon mesh swim trunks at Landon as everyone changed.
Something slipped out of Chesney’s pocket without him noticing.
It was that letter Chesney removed previously and read as follows.
“Dear Chesney and Chelsea,
As your doctor I regret you won’t be able to have children. It’s with a heavy heart I share this with you.
There are many reasons for this…”
The rest of the letter was creased and illegible.
It was subsequently swept to the river’s edge underneath a Crested Iris by a slight breeze.
Meanwhile, we were all breast stroking energetically while taking the occasional breather.
“You can make up your mind, Landon, at the end of this swim whenever that is and wherever it is taking us.”
Chelsea giggled as she circulated in the eddying stream.
We all started off again as we followed each other’s course.
“Awh, the child within!” Cried Chelsea.
As Landon pondered his fate the mountain looked down imperiously upon us all as the stray deer suddenly reappeared from nowhere.
Maybe that deer did know something after all!
