Thinking of how Hiccup is just getting adopted left and right in Race to the Edge.
He's already Toothless' soulmate, but then the twins want to make him an honorary Thorston/suggest becoming an honorary Haddock, Tuffnut tries to give his position as Ruffnut's twin brother to him, Dagur continues to call him his brother, and the dynamic between him, Hiccup, and Heather is definitely sibling-like.
It's just sweet to see Hiccup, an only child, find so many friends who want to double as siblings.

As someone who loves both httyd and wakfu I am BEGGING you to talk more about this
Well it wasn't much more than a passing thought I wrote down before i forgot it and I was gonna apologize and say I've not thought of much but character classes, but I blacked out and went into a frenzy.
So for character classes:
Hiccup: Eliatrope and Toothless is his dragon brother
Astrid: Feca or Cra (though I could maybe see her being a Iop too?)
Snotlout: Iop
Twins: Iops as well (I'd say most of Berk's population is)
I'm kind of stuck on what Fishlegs would be. huppermage? Maybe? Idk
Dagur: Sacrier
Heather: Sram
Undecided on what I'd want Viggo to be, or if I'm even going to include him but I'm open to any suggestions.
And for a Rotbtd version (bc I contracted that disease recently):
Merida: Cra
Jack: Rogue
Rapunzel: Eniripsa
But I don't have much more than that for this version rn.
And then I have some story ideas for it but I'll put them under the cut because it's kind of a lot
Berk is a a small coastline port village known for its fishing and inhabitants with ridiculous names and violent tendencies (most of them are Iops).
(Debating on its actual location but I can't for the life of me find a map for the World of Twelve that's actually labeled 💀)
Stoick is a Iop and chief of the village. He found Hiccup when he was an infant. He's never actually sat Hiccup down and given him the "you're adopted" talk, but they're both aware of it. This doesn't really have any strain on their relationship though (they love each other, but like in canon, are shit at actually showing it) the fights they have are over other things, mostly Hiccup's hazardous passion projects. And later, Hiccup's desire to leave Berk.
Hiccup is the village blacksmith's apprentice, but is often distracted with his own projects.
He is more focused on making inventions powered by wakfu than honing his own abilities beyond portal making (because of this, they often explode). as well as seemingly having a lack of interest in finding out about himself and what he is. Beyond the fact that deep down, he knows he is not human. He still wants to get out of Berk and dreams of exploring the World of Twelve.
Hiccup lost his left leg below the knee in an accident he indirectly caused when he was 14. Part of why he doesn't like using his powers.
(If you've watched the show, you'll know that when Yugo makes two portals and puts them in front of each other, it creates a beam of energy that essentially decimates whatever it comes into contact with. And iirc it's mostly been used on machines and such, so I don't think organic matter like bone muscle and flesh would stand a chance.)
Fishlegs is the closest thing he has to a friend. they'll eagerly talk about his inventions, until Fishlegs asks Hiccup to go more in depth on how his powers work, then Hiccup shuts him out. Usally after a few days of silent treatment things go back to normal and they act like it never happened.
Snotlout is Hiccup's cousin who used to bully him but has stopped (doing it outright anyway, ofc he's still rude and we love him for it <3) due to a begruding respect for Hiccup, not that he'll ever admit it (and perhaps out of fear, after all blowing your leg off and accidentally destroying half the village, intentional or not, is an impressive feat). The twins follow Hiccup around in hopes to see what disaster he'll cause next. They're the reason Hiccup moved his 'Workshop' out of the smithy and into a remote clearing in the forest miles away from the village proper.
Toothless is Hiccup's dragon brother and has been searching for Hiccup for years, but Hiccup is so out of tune with his wakfu their connection was almost completely severed and Toothless is unable locate him. Until recently Hiccup had no idea Toothless existed, beyond a lifelong feeling of something being very distinctly wrong and the occasional vague prodding sensation in the back of his head (Toothless trying his absolute hardest to get through to him).
I have no idea what I want to do for Astrid tbh. I want to do her justice which is why I'm so indecisive.
And I have nothing for Heather and Dagur beyond what their classes would be honestly. Something will come to me eventually though.
If anyone has any questions (especially abt wakfu if you're only familiar with httyd) feel free to shoot me an ask and I'd love to elaborate!
(Also a lot of this is subject to change if I have any better ideas)

Just a Kid Chapter 29!
@evilwriter37@firerose
Summary: A Httyd Zombie AU set in the modern world. There are dragons.
At 15, Hiccup believes his biggest struggles are teachers who won't stop hounding him for his grades, a father who doesn't quite listen to him, or how unpopular he is at school. Every regular teenager's worst nightmare, right?
But then a new and mysterious illness that's been rapidly spreading amongst the populace takes a surprising turn and the day comes Hiccup wishes his former daily struggles had been the only struggles he would have to deal with.
He is, after all, just a kid.
Warning: Violence, Gun violence, threats of child abuse
Rating: Mature
Words: 7 214
Fandom: How to Train Your Dragon
Characters: Hiccup, Toothless, Heather, Dagur, Meatlug, Alvin, Savage
Pairing: Slight mention of Dagcup
Author's Notes:
This chapter was originally over 10K words long, so I've decided to split it in two, making JaK 37 chapters long instead of 36.
The good news is, though, that I'm currently on the second to last chapter! ;D So expect A LOT of updates this upcoming December and January! Especially since I have two weeks off from work coming up in two days!
Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Enjoy!

thinking about when guts sent a bunch of his men directly into zodd's meat grinder without even knowing demons like him existed. and that moment after the fight where casca runs to griffith unconscious on the floor and tells guts it's all his fault. and the time gambino tells him he's bad luck and should have died instead. and about how he tells griffith he cares about his men, and how casca doesn't seem to see it. and the time guts is thinking about casca telling him it's all his fault (after he got griffith hurt) and then griffith comes to him and says (like it's nothing) do i need to give a reason every time i come to save you? or whatever. like he's worth it. like he's worth dying for, and like it can be a choice people make because they value you. like he's a good luck charm, like griffith needs him to reach his goals, his full potential. like griffith is not enough to make it without him. like griffith finds out when guts leaves. fuckin.g gnawing someone else's legs off because i still need mine to run into traffic

Dagur: "And you carry-! A shield?"
Hiccup: "Yeah yeah. Just a shield. Just a plain old shield."
Dagur: "Very... ornate. My sister had one just like that."
In RTTE, when Heather is reminiscing about what she remembers of her birth father, she mentions about the shield, saying something along the lines of, "He would sometimes let me play with his shield".
And during her flashback, we see her playing with said shield and Dagur running around being his deranged self in the background.
I find it endearing how that shield is the one thing both siblings recall vividly from when they weren't yet separated.

As stated in my last post, I've been having sibling thoughts about Dagur, Heather, and Hiccup. My last post was about cannon. This one is about an au where everything is the same, but Hiccup grew up on Berserker Island as Dagur's baby brother (this is purely self-indulgent so please don't come at me).
The events of the first movie are largely the same (Dagur doesnt get a dragin because he wants a rare and ferocious one like his brother), with a few exceptions.
Instead of being bullied by his Berserker peers, Hiccup is largely ignored (this is due less to the fact that he's the chief's son, and more because Dagur is over protective of his little brother).
Hiccup is, however, bullied by the kids of Berk when his family goes to sign the treaty. Dagur is the heir, so he learns how to be diplomatic. During these times is when the others (mostly Snotlout and maybe the twins) strike.
If Dagur isn't with their Dad, the twins try to find a way to separate them so they can torment Hiccup.
After the first movie, their Dad goes missing and Dagur takes the title of chief. He tells people he killed his father, and begs Hoccup not to say anything. Hiccup agrees, but watches as chiefdom makes his brother, well, more deranged. He tries to stay and help his brother, but he also has things to do for dragons.
Hiccup goes to Berk (being their main allies, although shakey) and helps them learn to live at peace with the dragons as well. Stoick gives him the academy and Hiccup goes back and forth from Berk and Berserker Island.
When he's home, he spends as much time with his brother as he can. But his brother's deteriorating mental state is taking a toll on him as well.
When Dagur is locked up, Hiccup stays on Berk.
The events of rtte happen much the same as they do in cannon, with the addition of angst because Dagur was at one time Hiccup's hero. Now he's fighting against him.
When he finds out who Heather is, the reunion happens with a little more emotion.
Heather thought Hiccup was Stoick's son, so that also adds a layer.
"Stoick the Vast gave this horn to Oswald the agreeable when his newborn daughter was born. Heather, you were that daughter. Heather, you're our sister."
"W-what do you mean our?"
"Oh? Did you neglect to tell her that, brother?"
"...I'm not Stoick's son. Im Dagur's little brother. I was born after you were lost."
Dagur wants her to choose a brother.
For plot reasons (mainly to take down whatever operation Dagur is running with the Hunters), Heather joins Dagur. This hurts Hiccup, but he pushes it to the wayside (typical hiccup).
Pretty much the events of rtte happen the exact same way but with added layers.
Heather still joins the riders, but Hiccup has to spend a little more time earning her trust since he never told her he was related to Dagur.
The whole "Heather spends most of Dagur's redemption arch wanting to kill Dagur" still happens because I love Hiccup holding her back from committing murder.
Also, with Hiccup being the youngest in the family, he's free to pursue his intrest in dragons! He doesn't have the weight of chiefdom hanging over his head!
I'm not going to go through the whole show because that's 6 seasons of dagur-hiccup-heather content I have to sift through and I don't have the energy to do so. But you see where I'm coming from. I think it's a cute idea. I might do something with this later but for now I'm tired.

Ok ok ok here me out yea?
What if…. Hiccup the younger….was dagurs half brother?
No but like u know how after hiccup the elders mither died and stoik re-married? What if stoik married dagurs mother? That would make hiccup the younger the half brother of both dagur and heather!
Which could lead to many fun possibilities like hiccuo the younger admiring dagur a little like hunoungshot the hero (sorry i cant spell) and hiccup the elder just trying to be a good protective big brother and keep the child away from the psycho! Or dagur is obessed with little hiccup and like wants to do all sort of “brother” stuff and hiccup is just kinda scared for his life lol
Oh my GOSH that would make Dagur's mother Valhallarama
In this particular scenario we could exchange Humongously Hotshot for Oswald the Agreeable as her first love, and Dagur could easily take Humongously Hotshot's role as the person Hiccup the Younger idolizes in book 5. Dagur would make a pretty questionable bardyguard but you've got to admit he's got the spirit!
Instead of trying to assassinate Hiccup the Younger though, Dagur would definitely be trying to assassinate Hiccup the Elder because that's pretty in character for Dagur (It's also probably another example of Wrong Hiccup and Alvin just didn't clarify he meant the younger one asdghjk) and I just see Dagur as being fun and chill with Younger and then turning right around and doing target practice on Elder lmao

BUT HEY
When they all grow up (and stop trying to kill each other) they're going to be a family to be reckoned with. No one's going to want to mess with the King of the Wilderwest when he's got three scary chieftain siblings behind him.

I think Hiccup is more like Dagur and Heather than we give him credit for, simply because he does tend to become obsessed with certain things, too.
Dagur has obvious obsessive traits. He starts a whole war just to get to Hiccup because he betrayed him and then spends a whole three years after that war thinking about getting back at him. All because of a personal slight.
Heather also has this trait and it shows itself when she's obsessed with her quest for vengeance. And I do mean the word "obsessed" because at some point, she puts her life as well as Windshear's life in danger in a mission to kill Dagur, a mission in which she saw ahead of time she was outnumbered, Hiccup told her she was outnumbered, and she still decided to take the risk. Which ended in Heather immediately being overwhelmed. And despite her recklessness almost costing her Windshear and her life, Heather still asked the Dragon Riders for help behind Hiccup's back. She probably wouldn't have even been there to go behind his back if it wasn't for Hiccup saving her life.
And then, after all of that, she would even infiltrate the Hunters by pretending to be their ally just to get close to Dagur.
Not to mention that Heather came into RttE sinking ships (not caring who they belonged to) and even hurting the Dragon Riders to avoid being seen only to later capture and hurt them again (Astrid especially when she and Dagur infamously keep her awake, which is an actual real life torture method) all in the name of keeping her cover.
So you may be thinking... Okay, but how is Hiccup, of all people, similar to them?
Well, the most obvious example is when Hiccup grows obsessed with dragons. He does it to the point that he can neglect other people and things in his life.
And then he obsesses again in RttE when Viggo shows up, to the point that Astrid and Fishlegs had to bargain for one single day off and the dragons getting infected by a grimoras was mistaken for a rebellion caused by Hiccup's actions. Even Dagur noticed Hiccup nursing the seed of revenge and warned him not to let him consume him.
So yeah... Berserker siblings indeed.

Toughen Up
Summary: Takes place after Just a Kid and actually written AFTER Just a Kid.
After everything has happened in Forrædersk, the last thing Heather wants to be is that defenseless girl who could do nothing to save herself or her father.
Warnings: Minor mentions of violence, Injury recovery, mention of gun use
Rating: Teen and Up
Words: 878
Fandom: How to Train Your Dragon
Pairing: Minor Dagcup
Characters: Dagur, Heather
Author's Notes: First fic that takes place after Just a Kid that I actually wrote AFTER finishing Just a Kid!
Anyway, I'm in the process of writing short multichapters that also take place between JaK and the sequel. The outline of the sequel is also being worked on.
Enjoy! :)
-XOXOX-
It was at the mall. Dagur distinctly remembers that it happened then. He gave Hiccup his favorite knife, the butterfly kind, yet somehow it has found it’s way back to him.
Or rather, it was in Heather’s possession and he just happens to have it in hand now. His sister is asleep in the car. At least for the time being, she won’t notice that it’s missing.
It’s late in the morning, the sun is warm and so Dagur parked on a dirt road to sit outside at the side, where a random picnic table waits. Never again will families or couples sit here to enjoy the view of endless fields.
The doors of the car are open on his side for if Heather were to wake up or if they need to make a quick getaway.
He flips the knife open with ease, it’s a move he’s familiarized himself with in the years since he first got it. It wasn’t bought, of course. His father wouldn’t have allowed him to. No, it was stolen and not for any particular reason other than because he could and because he wanted it. They’re bad reasons, but at least when he gave it to Hiccup for protection he did so with good intentions. Hiccup needed a way to defend himself, deserved it. And now Dagur supposes he gave it to his sister for the same reason.
A dull aching rests in his chest thinking about the boy. He misses him, his heart aching if he so much as thinks about thinking of him, and he hopes he’s on the mend. When he left him, his ankle was shattered beyond saving and hospitals have run empty of doctors and nurses. Despite this, Dagur still hopes he’s doing better than he was weeks ago.
He truly wishes he could’ve stayed, but leaving was in Hiccup’s best interest. Dagur has ruined his life enough.
But Heather… as her big brother, he owes her protection and he realizes that now. Alvin shot her and he can never let that happen again.
He twirls the knife around and then flips it closed. As soon as she’s well enough, he’ll teach her how to take care of herself.
-XOXOX-
Heather would be lying if she said that Dagur doesn’t still scare her, but he offered to help teach her how to “toughen up” and she liked the sound of that. She was helpless when Alvin shot her father, helpless to all the abuse she suffered, she couldn’t even help Hiccup. She doesn’t want to be that vulnerable ever again.
Of course, they start out with the knife.
“No, you hold it like this,” Dagur tells her as he takes the knife from her and shows her how he holds it. The handle firmly in his hand, blade out from the pinky finger instead of out the thumb and pointer finger.
“Like this you have a stronger hold on the knife and it’s less awkward to stab with,” he explains as he slashes at empty air. Real targets will have to wait a little while.
There are more ways to stab someone, of course. But for the time being, they’re focusing on one specific way.
He hands the knife back to his sister, who watches him as she accepts it. She’s still not used to this version of Dagur. He was never this patient with her in the past, anything she did growing up used to make him yell and lash out. Yet now there’s almost a rounded edge to him and she wonders where it’s coming from.
She has no idea the amount of blood it took to blunt him.
Holding the knife like he did, she swipes at the air, but only gets two in before a jolt of pain in her side makes her drop it and herself. She falls to her knees and holds the place where a compress still covers a scarring gun wound. It pulls, a sharp pain runs through her.
“Heather!” Dagur shouts and she shrinks in response. There it is, she figures. Her real brother is about to come to the surface.
Except then he kneels beside her and grabs her by the shoulders, knife forgotten. She freezes.
“Be careful!” He scolds her. “You almost died just weeks ago!”
To her surprise, he is indeed agitated, but it’s out of concern for her. Though still shaky, she feels her fear melt away a bit.
“I’m fine,” she says before she rises to her feet, hand still on her side. Dagur rises with her.
Her eyes fall on the knife lying in the grass, she forgot to pick it up as she stood. Dagur reaches for it, but she stops him.
“Wait, I’ll get it,” she says and picks it up herself. Its shape feels a little bit more familiar to her every time she holds it.
She realizes the strength it symbolizes. Hiccup was the one who gave it to her, he was strong for her when she couldn’t be. But she also knows its owner before him was Dagur and he’s showing her strength now by changing who he used to be. Just like them, she wants to be strong, she wants to find a way.
She’ll toughen up.

Head canons for Older sibling! Guts, Casca, and Griffith to Younger sister (Y/N)?
Ah hello there, Anon ♡ So, this is for how'd they would interact/behave with a younger sister, correct? Apologies that these are more like little story summaries than hcs like, "he'd teach you to leaf whistle" or something haha I got carried away and pictured it as a manga sequence ^ ^;;
First up, Griffith:
Griffith and (y/n) grew up in the back alleys of the city you were born to, hidden in the shadow of a grand castle. One day, a young (y/n) pointed out the pretty birdies flying up and over the castle walls, right up to its spires. Griffith's eyes were wide like saucers. He promised you then that one day he'd become a king, and the two of you wouldn't have to stare up at it any longer. Wouldn't have to scrape around for food or shelter any longer. You would soar up to the heights those hawks had and reach the castle, too. He believed he would make the fairytale a reality, and because he believed so did you. He was always a resourceful older brother-- and silly, too. He had a way of making you laugh and lifting you up whenever you felt down. Always finding ways of supporting you and gathering resources to propel his dream forward. He had a knack for getting ahead and pulling people to his side. It wasn’t long before your world was not just the two of you anymore. Eventually, he and you would set off on the trail towards his dream together and form the Band of the Hawk with the ragtag team of men who'd chosen to believe in him. It was dangerous work, and Griffith tried his best to keep you from seeing the worst of it. Young ladies, much less his precious little sister, need not endure the dreadful truth of men's battles and bloodshed. But, in the end, he knew he could not keep it from reaching you forever, so he sought to teach you to defend yourself instead. The world would be cruel, but as long as you had something to protect and a sword to do it, the two of you could reach heights never dreamed as commoners. Someday, your charming, supportive, and clever brother was going to be a king. You knew it with all your heart. And for each battle won, and each honor earned, he was right there beside you. Leading the way towards a better future for both of you.
Guts:
You and Guts never knew if you had the same mother and father or not, but it didn't matter to him. What mattered was making sure that he survived to keep you safe from the vile, evil things that humans could do to one another. Early life was hard, and Guts suffered the brunt of it to keep you safe. But, neglect by the mercenary leader who you both considered a father ate away at both of your childhoods. Eventually, something would happen late into the night that changed your big brother forever. And barely understanding what was happening, suddenly it was just you two on your own. It didn't matter where you went or what for, Guts was always able to keep you safe by the skin of his teeth. No matter what it took, he'd be the sword and shield for both of you. That's just the kind of big brother he was. He was a tough guy, but his heart was molten gold. You'd follow him from war camp to war camp, acting as a sort of squire for him while he scraped earnings together to support you both. He didn't want you fighting battles with him, though. He prodded you and said it was because you were too scrawny and weak and would just get in his way or get killed. But, in reality, he didn't want to lose you. You were the one good thing life had given him, and he'd fight tooth and nail to hold on. Eventually, you both found stability in a new mercenary band called the Band of the Hawk. Perhaps here, Guts would finally let others besides you in, and you wouldn't have to worry about him fighting every battle on his own.
Casca:
You and Casca were always close. Helping each other in the fields and attending to house chores at each other's side. When Casca received an offer to go work for a nobleman, you both wept, knowing you may never see each other again. Deciding not to lose your beloved older sister, you stowed away in a box on the nobleman's carriage to go with her. At some point, you could hear her screaming, cries coming from outside when the carriage stopped. The man had attacked her. That's all she would say later on when you were freed from the box and ran to check on her. Another man, or rather boy, who had been the one to save her, had instantly caught her attention and admiration. She would hold you close and beg that he allowed the two of you to go with him, promising you'd both learn to be of use. From that day forward, it felt like old times again. Only instead of plowing fields, you were sword training or running drills. Casca was still your best friend and always would be. She looked after you like a mother, laughed with you like a sister, and bled with you like a comrade. Both of you fought hard for Griffith, and Casca was as enamored with him as always. It didn't matter to you, though. As long as you two could stay together, you would follow Griffith's band wherever it took you.
Thank you for the lovely ask, love ♡ I must admit this was fun, even if it isn't a typical list of hcs hehe ^ ^; My mind works in silly ways, I'm afraid ~ I hope this will suffice 🙏💕

46.  ACCOMPLICE:  for one muse to assist the other at the scene of a crime. ((conall for mandatory sibling bonding time™
a comprehensive list of scenarios • accepting!
Tumblr media
"Buahahaha! That's what you get for disobeying mom!" A young Conall's laughter boomed in the room, uncaring of how loud he was or how much attention he attracted. He couldn't help it as the scene he walked onto was simply too funny. It seemed that Sétanta, that little rascal, couldn't help their curiosity and tried looking inside the cauldron for the Lughnasa's festivities. And, as strong as the little brat was, their body and mind still were that of a small child so, when they got on their tiptoes and pulled down on the cauldron to look at the contents... Well, let's just say that half of the feast's stew was now on the floor, and the other half was on Sétanta themself. What a mess!
Eventually, the young warrior stopped laughing and cleaned away the tears that had formed in his eyes. Careful, he avoided stepping on the food spilled on the floor and reached the table, where he had dropped his daily Connachta severed head. He picked it up, tied it to his belt, and cleaned the table as best as he could. Alright, with that done no one will think he arrived early. He then scooped up the crying child in his arms, uncaring of getting his clothes dirty. He even used his kilt to clean their food and snot-covered face.
Tumblr media
"Don't cry, I'll think of something and blame Naoise or Cormac. As far as I'm concerned, you were watching the frontier with me and then we went for a swim in the river," he reassured his hiccuping cousin and even made a pinky promise to not say anything to Findchóem. "Huh? They'll get angry at me for taking you to the kingdom's border? Blegh, who cares. Everyone has been busy with the preparations so it's natural for a kid to get bored. Now let's get out of here before a servant finds this mess."
Later that day, there was hell to pay for the ruined stew. But, true to his promise, Conall came up with a believable lie and placed the blame on Naoise, who had been looking after cattle, and Cormac, who had been training on his own. They said that small children don't lie. Clearly, those people have never met Sétanta, who was quick to agree with everything Conall said and even pouted when Naoise and Cormac tried to defend themselves.
It's common for young warriors to do battle in a feast for the champion's portion. But that year's Lughnasa feast was without a champion's portion to fight for and had three cousins fighting to the death while the fourth, much younger, cousin laughed and cheered for the three of them.
