So I saw the barbie movie. It was awesome.

I forgot to take photos in the theater, but I did wear pink as is mandatory to see the movie. I think I looked rather fabulous. Everyone should watch the movie, it was amazing.

Man I loved Nimoa but I feel like the relationship between Ballister and Ambrosius felt a bit stiff at some parts at least in the movie since I haven't seen the original. Like I know the main focus was on her side of the story but I feel like there was a lot of potential for their side that wasn't used to it's fullest. Both of the characters are great and there was a lot of really good scenes portraying the pain they must have felt when conflicted about their lover's true intentions and the system they are living in but some of them just felt kind of stiff and emotionless as well. More so on Ambrosius' side especially at the beginning it just seemed like his head was blank and he was just going on autopilot. He definitely did doubt that Ballister could have been the real villain and the longer the story went the more you could see his character's emotions but the beginning made it feel like he wasn't quite as hurt about the whole situation as Ballister was which made me question if he's gonna turn out to be on/join the actual villain's side later on and seriously hurt him in the end which I am glad didn't happen and the story turned out the way it is (although that would have have been an interesting turn of events just not one that would work in here and it honestly reminds of Hans from frozen a bit too much)

watching The Little Mermaid (2023) live action during pride month is something that hits so different.

#the movie was great #I loved the dedication to keeping certain details from the animated movie the way they were and not messing with it so much #I watched it without actually remembering anything from the original #but it made me feel like I'm 3 years old again watching that movie for the first time #and I'll be honest I feel like most negative comments about the movie are racially motivated #like #the casting was on point in my opinion #the songs made me feel like I'm reliving something deep in my soul #and yeah maybe that's cringe but at least I'm not racist ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ #plus everything surrounding Hans Christian Andersen and his life #when you see any version of this story with this context in mind it's heartbreaking and a 1000% more emotionally moving #it was beautifully done and I think anyone that thinks otherwise misses the point #halle bailey #the little mermaid 2023 #the little mermaid movie
