So, I had a thought. What if instead of the whole 'demons eat kids' setting, it was a modern AU where Ray had to step up as the older sibling parent because Isabella decided she didn't want to raise her children? And when she comes back to claim the youngest child, all hell breaks loose.

Isabella: Krone and I want to start a family of our own.

Ray: How about you finish this one first?!

Jemima: *crying* You’re taking Phil?

Isabella: Yes!

Ray: NO!

Sadie: Nobody is taking anybody anywhere.

Anna: We're all staying right here. *looks at Isabella* And this women has no say in that matter.

Ray: You don’t get to abandon your kids and then show up one day to take your pick of the litter!

Krone: Oh, come on now. Your mother has made mistakes, but she’s here now—

Ray: Shut up, Krone! This isn’t about you! *looks to Isabella* This is about you. This is about what you didn’t do. It’s about what I did. And you know what? I did a fucking great job. I set the curve. Sadie's class president. Anna's on the debate team. Jemima's top of her class. Connie made something blow up for her science fair. And Phil learned to kick a soccer ball. Isabella: I appreciate that, Ray. I do. But Phil belongs with me now.

Ray: He doesn’t even know who you are!

Isabella: I’m his mother!

Hey 👋🏼 Ibknow you posted that you decided to watch FMA: Brotherhood first, but when you can, you should give My Hero Academia a chance also. It’s a fascinating take on the hero genre, and has a lot of meta commentary about how a society of people with super powers would be like. It’s a lot of fun, amd the characters are very endearing, and was for me my entryway into anime (I also appreciate how the characters are never portrayed as antagonist for being ambitious in their goals, which a lot f stories tend to do). Also, one other anime I wanted to recommend I’d the first season of The Promosed Neverland. The reason that I mentioned the first season is because recently was the release of season 2, the anime creators have decided to go original. I haven’t seen season 2 yet, but I’ve heard a lot of criticism about how season 2 excluded several essential characters that were supposed to be introduced, and for rushing arcs that weren’t supposed to wrap up until much later in the story. Nevertheless, the first season is a masterpiece with an engaging (and binge-able) story, fascinating and endearing characters, and is filled with twists and turns.

I apologize if this sounds ignorant but I’m curious, have you ever been interested in what people might label “basic” manga? Like Naruto, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, The Promised Neverland or My Hero Academia & various similar titles. Did their stories ever appeal to you or did you kind of just decide that they weren’t your taste?

Oh, I was the biggest Bleach apologist for YEARS and i still stand by the Arrancar arc being super fun despite the incomprehensible villain motivations. And an animanga is only “basic” because well its one everyone know and therefore it becomes synonymous with what animanga IS. Literally any series can be elevated to a “pedestrian taste” status if it reaches the right audience

Like Kimetsu no Yaiba was considered to be one of the hidden gems in current Jump until the anime, same with The Promised Neverland. But hyper exposure is kind of a deterrent for me for sure lol mostly because I’ve been burned enough times getting carried away by hype or a fun promosing start only for then having to sit through a decline that goes on for YEARS when i can just wait for it to be over and get through that slog in a couple weeks at most. So I’m really open to trying anything but again I’d rather not throw dice on something incomplete

#and tokyo ghoul i watched the anime when it aired bought the manga as viz released it #completed the manga and was like wow i actually didnt care about this anything that happened here even for a second #like the aesthetics are great i think thats its biggest selling point and it taps into this like #edginess thats like #this is an abstract description but like its this mood and setting that like fanfiction and eroguro artworks only offered #so a mainstream publication going for that and getting it to a big audience is what made it blow up #but i just realized too late that i didnt vibe with it #mailbox #and sui ishida has gone on record to say some dumb and questionable stuff so i dont trust him
