Astrology Observations- 013

I notice Cap Mercurys think so maturely even from such a very young age. These were those kids that always wanted to hang around people older than them. They are old souls at heart and sometimes it’s harder for them to connect with more childlike energies. People their age can see them as boring because of their serious demeanor.

Leo Risings never like to show the sides to them that make them look bad in anyway. These people have big egos so any assumption from others that they aren’t anything but great can take a big toll on their self esteem. They come off so confident but most are really insecure & don’t think they are interesting so they tend exaggerate a lot of facts about them to keep people thinking they are really interesting and amazing. (U guys don’t need ti do that people already think you are before you even speak)

Capricorn risings always look so annoyed when people are speaking to them. Most of the time they are. They have very honest expressions and when someone says something stupid or uninteresting they are more willing to show their uninterested while most are just willing to smile and take it out of being polite. lol kidding you found out that vox was actually fun to be around with.

i think his composed and relaxed nature was what got you attracted to him, but ofc you wouldn't dare to say much of it, worried that it was one-sided.

your one time coffee 'date' ended up being multiple and you two exchanged numbers, and started seeing each other frequently.

vox himself wasn't expecting this sort of development because he simply meant to lessen your burden when you begged to buy him coffee after he helped you.

there were occasions when he found you cute, but shrugged it off thinking it was too much of him to think like that when you were being so kind.

he teases a lot, so the line between platonic and romantic is so shaky, you have no idea what to do.

one time, vox offered to buy you dinner when you had helped him with some of his work that coincidentally was something you studied in.

seeing you so focused and happy helping him undeniably got his heart skipping a beat, he was confused, he didn't know he was capable of loving others.

unconsciously, he couldn't help but stare at you in awe, and when he got caught, he just smirked seeing you all flustered.

he knew he loved you, but he definitely would tease abt it before confessing in the middle of another coffee date.

luca and you were both university buddies, always studying together and doing assignments together.

people often assumed that the both of you were a cc (campus couple) with how you're always together.

as dense as he was, luca would brush it off, not really knowing you were already head over heels for him.

to him, you were a precious friend and he was scared of ruining it. not to mention, you're always on his side, so he's hella protective of you.

hence, the rumours.

what pushed luca to realise his feelings was the day you stood up for him when he was being accused of plagiarism knowing damn well the person accusing him was into you! (sabotaging kinda shit)

when he saw your trembling fists hidden behind your back as you told the other person off, he could feel his chest aching.

how could someone do so much for him?, he thought.

so, he took your hand and ran off.

here the both of you were, in an alley somewhere i don't even know, you don't even know either T.T mans just yanked you away ???

when you questioned him, luca let out the giddiest laugh you've ever heard. you could see the genuine happiness on his face that has you so confused. what was he so happy about?

and he gave you the comfiest hug, leaning in so close you could feel his breath on your neck.

it was crazy. both of you in an unknown alley, dark, quiet and so so so painfully close.

and when he leaned in for a kiss, you swore you saw stars.

small whispers of i love you(s) and giggles in the middle of the kiss was proof that he was the one that was head over heels, for you.

everybody in the akademiya knew alhaitham as an arrogant and selfish man who rarely attended class because he was simply too good.

ofc alhaitham knew that wasn't the case. he simply finds no use sitting in a class that was not worth his time.

so why in the archons are you always around him?

it's like having a puppy cling to him, begging to be pet.

he was irritated, of course. what was it abt him that was so much to your liking that you were letting yourself be criticised by others? did you not care that people were talking about you?

when he asked you abt it, you simply said, "why should it matter? i think you're a brilliant person, and if anything, those pests have no idea how kind you are!"

he was baffled, to say. what was it that you saw in him?

so, he slowly opens up to you (he doesn't acknowledge it, but it's so obvious he's grown soft)

when other people saw how close the both of you were, it sort of changed their perspective of alhaitham and took it as an opportunity to get close to him as well.

can you believe this guy scowled and glared at those people?

what he failed to notice was that people started getting close to you, to get close to him!

so when he finally realised how distant you both were getting, he started feeling possessive.

absurd, he thought. you were just someone who stuck with him, it shouldn't bother him that you're getting too busy to even hang out with him.

well, he thought wrong. especially when he's in front of your house in the middle of the night because you were haunting his thoughts, he was bothered that you were on his mind so much, he couldn't focus on whatever he was reading.

so, he bothers you, calls you out just to question, "why am i always thinking of you even when you annoy me, and i feel uneasy not seeing you for a day, why is it that my chest feels stuffy when i can't hear your voice"

you're literally in your pajamas at 1am bcs this guy just confessed to you.

"so, you like me, alhaitham?", with that question, the scholar looks at you, baffled. but slowly realises that, he might actually be in love with you.

[ suwa rei ]

rei got tangled with you bcs kyu-chan put you together with him and kazuki since the both of them kept messing up their work.

so, when you met little miri, you knew this was the root of their problem.

but, lucky for them, you loved kids and miri just so happen to be a little sweetheart that swept your heart in one go.

knowing rei, he isn't someone whose good with words, or just doesn't speak much in general.

but he's always so curious abt you that it prompts him to be talkative too.

kazuki thought rei was crazy.

to be fair, how could he not be curious? how could someone be so good with kids, and to top it off, is also good at their job?? (let's say you do the same thing like he does) and you beat him at games!

rei doesn't show it but he appreciates you around.

starts thinking abt how good it would be if you were always around.

wait what? rei could not believe he liked the presence of another person. he was already so tired with kazuki and miri, but you?

so, one night when he was out for a smoke and saw you by the balcony, he thought you looked ethereal. it's probably the street lights, he thought. but he couldn't deny the clench of his chest when he sees you.

and the look on your face when you see him, and you run to him so happily, he just couldn't help but hold you tight.

"i think i love you"

Alhaitham ships I like and respect

I realise I typically only post about Kavetham but I actually love a lot of Alhaitham ships (my mans deserves all the love). Here's a list and my reasons for shipping them, because I just got home from uni and I'm bored. These are all ships that I like, the rating is just "how would this realistically go?".

1) Kaveh/Alhaitham

Getting this one out of the way cos <3 we know. I really enjoy their bickering dynamic and they both have very strong personalities, which I adore. That's why I feel the need to be more picky with the fics I read, actually, cos sometimes people write one of them very uncharacteristically just so they don't have to deal with writing two characters with uh *checks notes* personalities lol.

They are both babygirl and they are both Problems. I think their relationship would be undefined but exclusive - neither of them say they're dating, but they've also never sleep around with other people. I kinda like the hc that Kaveh got around a bit more before they met/started their situationship, but I also vibe with the idea that he lied and told Alhaitham he was "oh so experienced" just to one up him.

Rating: 9/10

2) Cyno/Alhaitham

Hehe this one's an oldie but a goodie. So here's the thing: back in 3.1, this was The Sumeru ship. Cynari was also there , definitely, but there was a loud fandom quite obsessed with the enemies to lovers trope. Which! Some people call Kavetham enemies to lovers, wrong, they never had a fistfight; they're just rivals and lovers.

Anyway, Cyno and Alhaitham are a great ship cos we have battle boyfriends with an eventual soft dynamic. I especially love in Act 5 of the archon quest, when they continue to disagree but they're on the same side - Cyno is very against Alhaitham's reckless plan. They have a lot of contrast in their approaches to life, but at this point they have mutual respect for one another that I think could develop beautifully.

The only issue i have with their dynamic is that I struggle to imagine how they would end up together. Maybe after a fight, one of them almost dies and so there's a dramatic kiss?? I don't think Alhaitham would be so romantic tbh, and Cyno is more likely to be very straightforward with a confession, but I think he might not be honest about his feelings in order to focus on Justice™.

Rating: 7/10

3) Dehya/Alhaitham

Yes. I also occasionally like f/m ships. My issue with this one is simply that I ship Dehya with Dunyazarad more, so I think this would be a more one sided crush on Alhaitham's part. I have a hc that he's just, into claymore users. Dehya serves cunt and beats people up and Alhaitham is like "pls come back to the Akademiya, you're so so cool <3".

Maybe I have a crush on Dehya. Maybe that's the issue hm.

I can't see Dehya dating him or Alhaitham really wanting to date her - just a little crush and then a good friendship.

Rating: 10/10 for vibes, 3/10 for practicality

4) Nilou/Alhaitham

Consider: Nilou is cute. Alhaitham is cute. She thinks he's a cool treason-man and he thinks she's the only person as crazy as he is for immediately agreeing to the dangerous plan everyone else took 80% of the run time complaining about.

Would they actually ever date? I think they'd hold hands once, but then figure out very quickly that they have almost nothing in common. Alhaitham would want a more headstrong person to counter his bluntness, and Nilou would find his introversion frustrating in a dating context.

Rating: 4/10

5) Tighnari/Alhaitham

I sort of see this dynamic as the healthiest version of opposites attract on this list. Now, they're both stubborn bastards, however - where I think Alhaitham and Kaveh lose all braincells upon being in the same room, I think Tighnari and Alhaitham maintain their intelligence.

I like the idea that post archon quest they shared an infirmary room in the Birmastan (Alhaitham via head trauma, Tighnari for his untreated lightning strike lol). They both quickly get fed up with their friends' overprotectiveness and kick the likes of Cyno and Kaveh out. They are both Akademiya graduates who've kind of denounced the Akademiya, Tighnari by quitting to become a forest ranger and Alhaitham by phoning in his entire career :')).

So they get to talking since they only really knew each other through Kaveh previously, and then they vibe doing their own thing when they get bored of conversation. I think they'd understand each other pretty well, and Alhaitham would brush off Tighnari's nagging and Tighnari find Alhaitham's abrasiveness endearing, since he's not an idiot.

Rating: 7/10

However, the context I most like them in is -

6) Kaveh/Alhaitham/Cyno/Tighari

I am an 4ggravate girlie. I love a good poly ship and these guys work very well.

Basically just a combination of everything I've already said:

Alhaitham & Kaveh and Cyno & Tighnari are both in situationships. These are open relationships.

Alhaitham and Cyno (who didn't previously know each other well) start seeing one another in a new light when they're stuck in the desert together for a month fighting against the sages. Feelings ensue.

After the drama, Kaveh realises he wants to make the situation with Alhaitham more concrete because he was worried. He also hangs out with Cyno a lot after Alhaitham and Tighnari kick them out of the infirmary.

So many high stakes and the close companionship makes it so they're all sort of on board with trying a poly sitch. Tighnari seems the type to bring it up first, to Cyno and then to Alhaitham and Kaveh.

Cyno likes the idea but worries a bit that Kaveh and Alhaitham's dynamic would get in the way of an actually healthy relationship.

Alhaitham is a bit iffy cos like - free time, introversion etc, but he does think it would be a good idea to test it out.

Kaveh is pretty totally on board cos all his friends are super hot, though he says "I should have tried using a foursome to force Alhaitham out of his shell ages ago" which actually delays the process quite a lot :'))

Rating: 10/10, Alhaitham gets three boyfriends I cannot see any issues

ok i wasnt gonna do it i told myself no im just not gonna say anything on this drama but this is so MINDBOGGLING that i HAVE to make a post about this

i am gonna start by saying as someone on the arospectrum i personally see peridot as either fully aroace or arospec (i like headcanoning either one) and as in a qpr or plantonic friendship with lapis.

peridot has been confirmed to be intended to be read as aroace by a storyboard artist (maya peterson) that would focus on her character, i am not denying that,

however

she is also confirmed to be intended to be read as experiencing romantic attraction, by the OTHER storyboard artist who originally worked on peridot, jesse zuke, who has just as much authority to talk about peridots character, if not more since (to my knowledge) she was the original main storyboard artist for peridot

the intention behind what peridot is suppose to represent is fundamentally contradictory, there is absolutely no use fighting over it. this is so dumb to fight over YES both sides have been confirmed canon THATS WHY THIS IS DUMB </33

these storyboard artists BOTH focused heavily on working on peridot and creating her character, and their intentions behind what she is are completely contradicting.

i would love for peridot to be aroace. to me she IS aroace, but im not going to pretend like this isnt the most confusing most unclear way of confirming that. even if maya peterson intended for her to be seen as aroace, jesse zuke wrote her as the complete opposite and it would be stupid of me to ignore that. harassing eachother over this is stupid. your both correct, now shake hands and make peace with eachother lol, good night.

As an arospec person I am completely fine with people shipping peridot and I do not think it is aroace erasure, because while I would love to see an orientation like mine depicted in a character like peridot, im not going to ignore that fact the she was ALSO originally meant to be read as experiencing romantic attraction AND the fact that many of the crewniverse ships peridot with people or supports others doing it. it is not aroace erasure to ship a character that was literally intended to be read as experiencing romantic attraction by some of the people who worked on her character. rebecca god damn sugar, the creator of steven universe has made fanart shipping peridot. peridots voice actor has said she likes and supports people shipping peridot. its just that different people working on the show had wildly different intentions when creating her character, and didnt clear up a solid identity for her with everyone working on her

jesse zuke said in her post "cant speak for anyone else! many people are writing those episodes". just like if maya peterson and anyone else working on peridot intended for her to be read as aroace, other people working on her character with just as much authority were writing her completely differently. people are not seeming to acknowledge that these two things co-exist. it is not one or the other. even though they are complete opposites, somehow theyve made it so that its both at once.

she was simultaneously written to be both aroace and experiencing romantic attraction by different people writing her character, clearly because of miscommunication within the crewniverse.

heres rebecca sugars ship art btw since the first 2 were really hard to find, in case anyone else wanted some sort of actual evidence of it

also just wanted to bring attention to jesse zuke saying "anyone who wants to see the narrative they want is completely, 100% allowed to". peridot and her episodes were written to have multiple interpretations. this was written with multiple intentions. some of those intentions were aroace, some of them, like jesse zukes, were not. you are all correct peace and love

this is pretty clear confirmation that peridot was fully written with completely different ideas in mind from completely different people. jesse zuke INTENDED for peridot and lapis to be read as having a queer relationship, in this post shes encouraging people to read it that way, meanwhile other writers had other intentions which are just as real and valid.

Hmmmm. I don’t have many, and I think these really might fall more into the category of “I was a fuck boy until I met you”, but I hope you like these.

the way the storms blow by rbbsbb (E, 22K) What would happen if you walked in on your best friend in the midst of an orgy? Louis finds out and it’s pretty damn hot.

And Touch Me Like You Never by runaway_train (E, 36K) I really enjoyed how this author handled Harry’s confusion and growing attraction and eventual sexuality crisis. That, along with the angst and very sexy smut, made it a really good read.

Seeing Blind by zedi (E, 47K) I really liked the way this author gave a twist to both Omega Harry and Alpha Louis’ characteristics. It’s a whole lot of smut and miscommunication and, of course, a happy ending.

To Be The Friction In Your Jeans by orphan_account (E, 20K) slightly dated characterizations because it was written in 2012 (no one writes OT4/5 orgies anymore, do they?), but I actually really like this one. It’s simultaneously funny, oddly believable, and really damn hot. Harry-centric.

Young & Beautiful by velvetoscar (M, 227K) This fic is wordy and descriptive (which isn’t for everyone) and the characters are probably pretty OOC, but I love it anyway. I know that doesn’t sound like a recommendation, but truly the writing is poetry, the characters are so well-developed, the visuals and setting have stuck with me for years –– there’s a reason this one is a classic.

Into The Blue by zarah5 (E, 117K) honestly, I love all of this author’s fics, but I think this is my favorite of theirs. Louis as a flirty scuba instructor? Newly single Harry who just wants a fling? Boys living on other sides of the world who only have a few weeks together? Heartbreak. Hot af smut. OT5 friendship. Please….give me all that shit.

The light to guide me home by Star_Henderson / @tommosgun (E, 65K) I don’t know what it is about this fic but I’ve read it so many times and I just really love the instant chemistry, the smut is stupid hot and fuels the character growth, and even with the angst, the whole thing is just lighthearted and sexy.

Gotta be honest seeing queer coded come up here again reminded me of why I hate it in day to day use, since it's so often used for ships someone really likes and wants to be canon, but just isn't. I think the big split is between "These characters are constantly shown flirting, having romantic interactions, having really tender moments, but then it goes nowhere/they end up being revealed het despite everything." where the term would make sense, but that's also just queer-baiting, while on the other side we have just honestly basic deep friendships, where they talk a lot and stick together, but there's no actual romantic subtext shown.

Both can have a great chemistry, and Imo the best relationships are also very good friendships, but that doesn't mean that a deep connection between friends has to lead to a romantic ending, or even implies a romantic attraction. Maybe I'm also being cynic, but I feel like because we've been starved or never had much queer rep, especially good ones, we're much more likely to view friendships and deeper bonds as romantic, than if we had straight up mainstream queer love stories. That and a lot of mainstream stories do the stupid "girls and boys can't be friends, so if they're (childhood) friends they'll end up together in the end." And that's just been taken over into queer spaces as well, but we don't actually get many stories like that, because it's a hetero-story kinda trope, and it also doesn't work in the same way as it does with het stuff. lol maybe we should call that a het-coded trope Anyway, I just think that some people really see two people being deep friends, and then have the same reaction to it as the people saying "men and women can't be friends" and make it queer-coded, when there's nothing really beyond a personal preference and wish fulfilment fuelling it.

VERY LONG POST ALERT

I've been doing a SGA rewatch. Seeing John and Teyla in a new light and wanted to spread the love and share some thoughts! Bear with me on that one. They might be more to come.

I think The Legacy Series very cleverly exploited what had been established by the end of season 5. If we consider the Fandemonium books canon (Stargate Wiki certainly does) then John and Teyla are openly in love and in a committed relationship. The first couple of books reveal that Teyla had harboured feelings for him for a long time but believed he didn't see her in that way. Concept best illustrated by this scene, I believe. When Teyla offers a comfy thigh for his sleepy head and he doesn't say so much as a thank you and she looks discomfited to say the least.

And whether this was scripted or simply an acting choice on Rachel Luttrell's part, this look signifies a lot in an episode mentioning a man she has feelings for who has yet to make a move.

As stated in the books, following the deaths of Carson, Elizabeth and Kate, she sought comfort where she could find it, which was in the arms of a fellow Athosian whom she knew since childhood and who had the Gift as well. She tried to move on with her life with someone she trusted and loved. And it makes sense. Rachel Luttrell loved that about this storyline and I agree with her.

Truth be told, not much is happening regarding John and Teyla in the first three seasons, especially after season 1. John puts on the charm on her when they first meet the same way he does with every pretty girl they encounter on a mission, which clearly indicates that he finds her attractive. And she is INTO IT. Instantly. Her little smile and Colonel Sumner's raised eyebrow and barely concealed amusement LOL... The only moment of levity on his part regarding Sheppard...

You can glimpse that she might be falling for him right there and then. And the necklace scene.. Uuggghh the sexual tension there hehe.

John trusts her implicitly and immediately, it's beautiful to see. I love when he defends her against Bates when she's suspected to be a double agent for the Wraith. And he has little to show for it apart from the fact that he just really likes her and knows that she's a kind hearted person. It's not based on anything factual. Bates was absolutely right about that. And John losing his shit with him because he is well aware of that is delightful. He doesn't know why, yet, but he already adores her and will defend her honour to Earth and back (and that's a long way alright!). Same when she learns she has Wraith DNA and Bates once again suspects the worst. Teyla struggles to fit in and John is her anchor, for sure. Equally, I love when she volunteers to go through the gate with him when he has the iratus bug on his neck. She wants to do it straight away. Knowing she might not come back on the other side. She is already willing to do anything for him at the expense of her life and they've only known each other a few weeks by that point.

But after that first season... Nothing. Teyla finds an ally in Ronon as they both share the burden of not being from Earth and therefore being outsiders, to some extent. He takes John's place by her side and I am digging their friendship so hard it's unreal. Far more than I used to, actually. Ronon loves her so much it's so endearing. She is too reserved to show it in the same way but it's honestly so cute.

Regarding John, sure there is the Conversion episode. And to me it confirms what we already knew which is that John is attracted to Teyla and the virus lowered his inhibitions to the point that he just went and did what he probably thought about doing a handful of times. And the "He cares for you more than you know" body possession thing in The Long Goodbye is a clever way of insinuating that John has deeper feelings for her than he is letting on. Without truly committing to anything. And deeper feelings I believe he had from day one. That's how I had interpreted it. I just didn't think the writers were gonna do anything substantial about it.

And sure enough, John's relationship with her changes from season 2 onwards. It's subtle but you can feel that they have drifted apart, somewhat. Or perhaps things have now settled and John doesn't need to be so protective of her and her place on his team anymore. One thing I did notice is that Teyla is always annoyed when John flirts with other women. The camera is never focused on her specifically but you can see her doing a massive eye roll or else just staring at the back of his head everytime. Or sharing a look with Ronon. Sometimes all three LOL

I guess we can give season 3's episode The Ark an honourable mention for shippy content (and Sunday, more on that soon). When John is ready to die for her by landing the shuttle on the planet, even if Rodney deems it impossible. But that's just John for ya. He did the same for Elizabeth in The Real World. And Jennifer in The Seed. And for other people and Atlantis at large on too many occasions to count.

What the Remnants episode and subsequently the books did beautifully was to establish one paramount fact about John Sheppard. He considers himself a marked man whose impending death will be fate's retribution for his failure in Afghanistan. It was the defining moment of his character, I think. Every time he survives, it's just delaying the inevitable. And so risking his life trying to protect his team and Atlantis feels like fair dues. What else does he have to live for?

But then... Season 4 happened. And it is rather magnificent, in my humble opinion. I'm quite certain John is the one Teyla speaks of to her friend in Sunday. A man who is oblivious to her feelings for him. Very interestingly, that conversation about this mystery man happens at the exact same time Ronon is telling John that he always thought he and Teyla would hook up (Hurrah for Ronon, our biggest Sheyla supporter out there LOL). We know this because the explosion happens in both places shortly after. That, from a storytelling point of view, could not be more on the nose.

And so... in my view, Teyla got tired of pining. John wanted to spend time with her, risked his life saving her, freaked out when she was harmed but still, he did nothing. She was grieving. Kanaan was there. She knew and loved him. It made sense.

One thing I'm mad about is that, because the writers had to justify Rachel's pregnancy, they committed the ultimate sin: exposing Teyla's relationship with Kanaan to us rather than showing it. We had to make do with multiple characters saying something like "Oh the father is Kanaan, right? I noticed the way you spoke about him." KILL ME NOW.

Nothing is more off putting than forcing the audience to accept that something exists by telling them rather than giving them ON SCREEN evidence so they can buy it (looking at you, Ted Lasso). I mean... I would have probably hated the guy anyway (I am a shipper after all), but I don't know enough about him to have an opinion LOL. I only now understand Kanaan and his history with Teyla thanks to the books but it's certainly no thanks to the show.

Yet, it demonstrated one thing. The writers didn't care much about Kanaan. It was all about John and his feelings instead. They presented Kanaan as a fait accompli without doing any of the legwork to solidify their bond aside from some lukewarm scenes that defines them as nothing more than affectionate past lovers.

Instead, perhaps for the first time ever in the show, John gets emotional. Several times. And it's all to do with Teyla, let it be before or after the birth of Torren. More on that later.

I love this quote from the Outcast episode, when he goes back to Earth for his dad's funeral. I can't think of a better scene to encapsulate John's character:

SHEPPARD Well, maybe you meant something to him, too. You never know what people are thinking.

AVA Even those you're closest to?

SHEPPARD Especially those.

This is referring to his father who, to John's surprise, regretted the way things had ended between them. But in truth, I think it applies to John himself as well. That's Sheppard in a nutshell. Keeping his cards close to his chest and never letting the people he loves know how much they matter to him. They might be snatched away, or he might let them down, or he might die and cause them pain. This is post pregnancy-revelation by the way. Considering the context of the episode, this again clearly referres to his family (namely dad, brother and ex-wife), but it also applies to himself, the way he treats his friends and perhaps, dare I say, the fact that he's too late and Teyla is no longer free.

I believe we witnessed something rather fascinating on the writers' part once the decision had been made to make an unknown man be the father of Teyla's child (and rumour has it John has once been the main candidate). They could have dropped the John/Teyla ball right there and then. They in fact had, as far as I was concerned, except for the small hints in The Ark and Sunday mentioned above. But then they picked it up again in a way that leads me to believe they actually wanted to keep the ball.

(Sidenote: This has been proven true because it was planned that John and Teyla would get together in the movie following the end of season 5. As stated here by executive producer Joe Mallozzi. I discovered this after writing this post).

They had the perfect opportunity to have Teyla and Kanaan drive off into the sunset (I know they don't have a car... you get my point LOL) and leave it there but... No. They wanted to keep the romantic tension alive. Which is fantastic to me.

First little clue that feels different is that when they encounter Larrin again and John swiftly enters prince charming mode, the camera purposely shows Teyla's reaction. Which never happened before. This feels very deliberate. And for the first time she doesn't look mildly annoyed but simply... resigned.

It fits nicely with the narrative that she thinks John simply does not reciprocate her feelings. Consider that this is an odd directing choice to make when the writers have already told us she is pregnant with another man's child (though John does not know it yet by that point, which is important to note). To me, they clearly wanted to show that she still has feelings for him but probably thinks she made the right call by deciding to try and move on.

Now. To the main subject... Following Teyla's pregnancy revelation, it appears that John, probably against his will, caught (shudders) emotions.

In a predictable and intrinsically human move (if slightly infuriating), he kinda loses it the moment he learns Teyla is not only seeing someone, but has also conceived child with another man. Now, I know what you're thinking. I am reading too much into it with my shipper goggles on. Well, first of all, no because he loves her that's canon.

Secondly, he shows a level of anger and disquiet that we rarely get to see. He is still John Sheppard and is SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE with anything to do with feelings. But it's undeniable that he is shaken and rattled by the announcement of Teyla's pregnancy. In a way that immediately feels personal. Like not much else ever has on the show. Bear in mind, her people are missing. She is expecting a baby. This is good news and he should be over the moon for her. A glimmer of hope in an otherwise very bleak and gloomy time. But no.

The man is aaaaangry. One could argue that he is just upset because she's under his command and she hid something that could very well jeopardise their missions... That's very true, too (though she makes a point of saying Athosian women remain very active up until the birth of their child). But nobody else cares about that. Not even Sam, who would be well within her right to give Teyla an earful about this. She hid it from everyone but only he reacts so badly. Ronon could have been upset too! He is perhaps a closer friend to her by that point, yet he doesn't feel betrayed by her dissimulation. In fact, he could not be more supportive. Everyone but John is super happy for her. Kudos to Lorne for giving her a hell of a pep talk. I love Lorne. What a guy.

They all trust Teyla and know she can look after herself. John of all people knows that more than anybody else! But this is different. He always respected her decisions but this, he cannot cope with... That's not a direction the writers would have taken had they truly wanted to sail that ship once and for all (see what I did there?).

What he is saying is:

"You put yourself, your child and the rest of the team in danger by hiding crucial information from me. NOT COOL!"

Based on what follows in the show and the books (and the never to be seen movie script), what he is actually saying is:

"You slept with someone and I didn't even know about it and had I known I would have taken my head out of my ass sooner and now it's too late YOU'RE PREGNANT how could you do this to me?? Sure I flirt with every skirt in my vicinity, I give no evidence whatsoever that I love you except when I'm possessed by alien entities taking away my free will and therefore disclosing things I would rather keep buried as deep as Atlantis when we first found it. And I know you have a lot on your plate with your people missing and your child potentially being the last of them and whatnot but WHAT ABOUT MY FEELINGS TEYLA???"

I firmly believe that this is more than Teyla hiding the pregnancy and putting herself in harm's way. I have evidence of this because he loves her it's canon because in a couple of episodes later, in Quarantine, he is the one telling her that she will do more good as a mother by being on the field than by staying home.

And in season 5, in The Queen, she makes the decision to pose as a Wraith Queen and risk her life and John, though very concerned, supports her decision.

That and his faith in her ability to fend for herself since day one are proof, in my book, that his initial reaction was not entirely to do with worrying about her safety. Don't get me wrong, it partly is! And he is mad as hell because she put herself in danger and she's under his responsibility so if she and her child die, that's on him. He has every right to be pissed off. What strikes me though is not so much the reason for his anger but the fuel behind it. The immediacy of it. The "losing his cool in front of Ronon and in the middle of a corridor" type of shit. The inability to bottle things up the way he usually does. It's personal. He is affected in a way that's impossible to repress, which happens to be his coping mechanism of choice. Therefore all the more jarring when he fails to do it. And it's not the only time when it comes to Teyla and the daunting possibility that she might no longer be a part of his life the way she used to:

This scene is very interesting to me. Again with the "in a corridor and in public" thing. This time because he learnt that Teyla is considering leaving the team... And once again, he cannot contain his fury.

True, she has not been upfront about her intentions, probably because she feared his reaction... BOTH TIMES. Uhm...

Both times, she is going through the wringer and he lashes out because he doesn't know how to properly articulate that he is deeply, deeply affected. Teyla must have known this unconsciously because she chose to hide something from him twice. She knew that he would react badly. I think she knows that he is holding back on her and burying feelings. Women know these things. Teyla was a part of his world in a way that he thought was never going to change. But he was wrong. And facing that is unbearable for him, turns out. Considering that they get together in the books (or would have gotten together in the movie), his behaviour makes SO MUCH SENSE.

He's not always a dickhead though. In Quarantine he assures her that her boy will have a family no matter what. Even if she dies, they will look after him. And that is FREAKING AWESOME. He HATES talking about deep stuff. But he also knows she needs to hear from him, specifically, that she's an amazing warrior super mama who's not meant to stay home and change nappies and that they all will be there to look after mini-Teyla if anything happens.

It's unbelievably wholesome and further proof that John loves and understands her so so so so much. And the fact that when the baby kicks for the first time she takes his hand and he feels it...

And then climbs a fucking tower like a fucking prince when he senses that she's really starting to worry. He is already that kid's stepdad I tell ya. I know that Atlantis was emitting a signal that could attract baddies and that the city was vulnerable and he had to do it but the defining factor for his reckless Batman move was seeing Teyla distressed and you cannot convince me otherwise.

One thing that really struck me as well was that in the following episode, Harmony, two pretty women flirt openly with John and Rodney. The latter is hot and bothered whereas John is utterly unmoved. Which is a first. He is even the one who wants to cut this short and leave. Fascinating, right? The timing of this, to me, shows that John is not emotionally available in that moment. Not so soon after realising he lost his chance with Teyla. Sure, one of the women puts the charm on him times a hundred when she sees he's not keen on staying and she theatens to undo their alliance should he decline. And it works because John is still John and I'm under no illusion that he is immune to seduction. But it really dawned on me that yes... John is now aware of his feelings for Teyla. It becomes tangible, if subtle, because it's the MGM and they don't do shippy stuff.... Except for Rodney. Because Rodney is their favourite golden child LOL

That being said... it's still John Sheppard we're talking about. In season 5 he clearly wants to hook up with Larrin and then hangs out with sexy scientists because well..... Teyla is not impressed btw LOL

We can't really blame him. He thinks he missed his chance after all.

Now... Speaking of season 5...

I think it's fair to say that John Sheppard thought he would not die of old age. He was traumatised by Afghanistan (btw I think it's no coincidence Teyla was the only one who wasn't a threat to him in Phantoms, and appeared to him as someone he trusted and loved) and his failed marriage. By adding the otherwise utterly useless Dream Sequence between he and Teyla in Search and Rescue, it's clear to me the writers wanted to tell the audience John always had feelings for Teyla but had never allowed himself to go there because of the above. Also he perhaps had not realised the extent of those feelings. Until it was too late. Which is tragic. So I love, LOOOOOVE that they get together in the books. I love that he succumbs to his feelings for her and now has a partner and even a son to live for. Finally! Finally his existence is no longer about mere survival. It's what his character deserved all along. I love that she reminds him that he is a good man and adresses his fears head on. I love that he helps her embrace her Wraith heritage and her role as both a leader and a mother. I love that they lay kisses on each other's ugly parts. With nothing but mutual understanding, acceptance and love.

I love them your honour.

All righty then, feel like I haven't been asked this in two years.

(throwback to @phoneybeatlemania asking me this on anon on like day two of my having this blog <3)

I wanna preface this by saying I'm hyper-aware that multiple takes more or less fit the facts. I'm often reading up on what people who disagree with me are saying and try to consider their arguments as seriously as I can. Because of this, I don't feel entirely confident committing to one single take; more, a spectrum of scenarios I find more or less plausible.

(putting this under a read more cause I'm annoying lol)

At this point you can't really convince me John wasn't bi; the evidence is ample and IMO conclusive. Combining that with things John said after the breakup, some of his behaviours and words while the band was together makes him being attracted to Paul seem very likely to me, and I generally operate under that assumption though I do try to sometimes consider other possibilities.

Generally, I don't really buy into the idea that Paul is (meaningfully) attracted to men for two reasons: 1) he's denied it + continues to do so, and I dislike going against someone's word without good reason and 2) all the evidence I've seen for it feels very… Circumstantial. It seems more like a post-hoc explanation for a bunch of not necessarily related behaviours rather than concrete proof. (for example comparing when Paul started growing a beard to when he and Linda got together and concluding a general "return to the safety of heteronormativity" in mid-'68 based on that)

That being said, that doesn't mean I think Paul couldn't possibly be bi and I do see how the fact that he's still alive means that anecdotes like the ones we have of John confirming his consistent interest in men would not have emerged as easily and readily as they did once John died. (and conversely, Paul has outlived most Beatle-era people; I doubt much will come out from that time period at all in the near future, unless his kids decide to share things, but loyalty appears to be the currency of the McCartney Clan so…)

And also, I've seen this implied multiple times so let me reiterate: thinking Paul is not attracted to John is not equivalent to thinking Paul had an in any sense normal friendship with John. I believe that, no matter what, John was important to Paul to a probably slightly unhealthy extent and I don't discount that he's referred to John as some type of soulmate.

Now, timeline-wise, I consider myself somewhat of an outlier in that I'm highly skeptical of the idea that John was attracted to Paul from the moment they met (and, for that matter, if proof of Paul's attraction to men emerged, this skepticism would extend to him as well). But I also don't have some timeline I'm personally subscribed to because I think the evidence on this front is convoluted and somewhat contradictory. I'd say it mostly indicates to me that either a) John experienced multiple waves of infatuation which ebbed and flowed over the years or b) he was somewhat possessive of Paul before he was actually attracted to him. (or a combination of these two) Another thing I don't feel particularly confident about is at what point this attraction would have become conscious (and I err on the side of not believing an unconscious attraction could have lasted especially long)

I usually try to approach them holistically as people and when I can leave the romantic/sexual stuff unaddressed because I think a lot of aspects of their relationship can be analysed regardless of the precise nature of their dynamic. On the other hand, I do acknowledge that both these men were very sex/love-oriented and thus I can't discount it completely.

I’d like first to correct something, the confession was hidden from jensen for three months before the shooting of the episode,not three years.

Agree with you on j2 hanging out without any convention to do, actually they hangout more on the panels and not so much on breaks, how many times do we see jensen and the cast together having fun and jared by himself, sleeping or having fun with his wife (some people would say it’s because the power that be doesn’t want j2 anywhere near each other, (because they need to hide their eternal love)

Jared also was asked on a panel by a fan : how do you keep your friendship (meaning j2’s) to which jared said : by doing this , meaning cons .

So they only see each other in conventions.

The LM and Gen saga : it was told that walker was his passion project, a family project that he made with his real life wife . That alone would attract audience’s attention it didn’t lol

They were all looking for LM and asking why isn’t she going to PR trips instead of the dead wife ?

Why is he taking his dead wife to talk about twwon and leaving the other lead back home ?

She was treated like an Extra for the sake of giving attention and limelight to the dead wife who shamelessly said she got the role via nepotism .

Waiting patiently for the day that LM grows some balls and say why she really left the show.

I don’t think he ever took anyone of his co-stars to these things, not just lindsy , just the nepo wife to talk about twwon and how she met jared while wearing her little white panties and he going along with saying he was the lead and he demanded that she wears only that (he was joking)

Yes they did more than take photos, they left a lot of stuff on their door step and in the brewery dead kittens and the head of a manikin doll and other stuff that only known to be used in witchcraft stuff with nails , all discovered by jensen he buried the kitten before his kids saw it so they don’t get scared, he didn’t let his wife touch the nails because he was afraid of getting hurt or disease or something.

And that’s just what he said, God knows what else,He has it bad .

This is the curse of being loved and shipped by two different sides , sides that refuse to acknowledge that it’s ok if you want to interpret things how you see fit, (jensen himself said that more than once, it’s open for interpretation, I respect your opinions, but this is how I played it)

TW was such a bad idea I wish he didn’t listen to his wife who has her name all over it , but how do you tell your wife who was patiently living and taking care of your home for 16 years while you made your own dreams come true?

Thank you so much for coming back. I threw in an edit back in my last one about the photos outside of the kids' school (which I did hear about but actually don't want to look because it feels wrong seeing that honestly) and people actually pretending to be their kids' parents tidbit. If this is really true that someone did this at their kids' school, wow.... people really are terrifying with what they will do just to try interacting with their KIDS. I heard of the nails voodoo doll and the dead kitten somewhere myself, I myself am not a fan of Danneel but I wouldn't ever dream of sending horrifying things like that via mail or leaving it on their doorsteps.

This.... the highlighted part. I think this here Anon is why Jensen let her be part of the show when frankly she shouldn't have been or at least make executive decisions on it. She barely watched the show for heaven's sake, if she did at least that she wouldn't have said Dean learned it all from his mom.... who died when she was 4 for starters. I've said this in other posts but between it being a failure overall and the ongoing lawsuit happening right now, it was a blessing in disguise Jared was not part of it. I will say that I believe some weird things happened closed doors that the Prequelgate drama doesn't reveal or even the aftermath. I think it's possible he knew something as this post implies. However, I don't buy the whole "scheduling conflicts" reasoning for Jared. They could've held off on making The Winchesters and should've found something else to make. Buuuuut that's just me. This clip below summarizes in a short 27 second why Danneel was not fit to be Executive Producer for The Winchesters.

I will say it seems barely anyone cared that much Gen was gonna be on the show. Her role was barely significant overall and I felt many of her lines, especially in season 3 were unnecessary. It was filler and frankly her being in this show just screams nepotism to the point my deaf Aunt in Omaha heard it (referencing the movie "Disturbia" here). And don't get me started on the whole nepotism way she got the role. I know the official statements via interview state she was approached by the networks for the job. Someone said Odette may have mentioned Gen to the execs for the role of Emily as she was already in as Geri. For what, to appease your direct boss by mentioning his wife to his bosses as a suggestion for the role of Emily so it doesn't come from him? Genius, why didn't I think of doing this for any of the jobs I applied for? Oh wait....

As far as the whole Lindsey not being promoted but instead Gen and Jared only doing the promotions mostly at first, I was not around in this fandom when Walker first aired. I therefore wasn't around with it first being promoted but I have this funny feeling things aren't as perfect as they seem. What did you think of the latest Walker promo videos of say the kids being on the set and Jared going to everyone's trailers? I talked about this with a friend last night and I swear I cannot unsee what she said but something felt.... off and forced. I know it was to promote the show and it was obviously being recorded but some of these videos had such a strange "feeling" to them. Can't put my finger on it but maybe this "feeling" is related to what I think really goes on behind closed doors on set. Now, I have my own personal theory as to why Lindsey was not promoted as much and why she really left the show but it's more or less speculation on my part and a strong hunch I cannot shake but nothing concrete. I can definitely say I 100% do not buy the mental health, burnout related reasons being stated here.

I joined a Reddit group conversation about a month or so ago I chime into once in a while. A lot of the people in this group agreed with the sentiment we can't unsee Jared and Gen. We don't see Cordell and Emily when watching Walker period. Heck, even when they're not onscreen together, I literally cannot unsee Jared. I feel like he's being himself as Cordell except with the stammering, deeper voice and taking a moment to get sentences completed he does as Cordell and calls it a day. Sounds like a mean thing to say but when I watch Supernatural I see Sam. When I watch Friday the 13th from 2009, I see Cliff. When I see An Endless Ring of Light, I see Zach. When I watch Walker, I see Jared. I can't put my finger on it as to why I feel this sentiment let alone so strongly but I literally cannot see Cordell, only Jared.

Gen was 100% a terrible casting choice for the role of his dead wife period in my opinion for the reasons I stated earlier in this post. I mean, is this the show Walker or is it the Gen and Jared show? Come on now. Don't get me started on my real opinions of their marriage as it was implied in some of my more recent posts about them and in other places. I think both J2 feel stuck within their own marriages and the wives know they depend on them for their lifestyles and whatnot. TOWWN is not really doing a whole lot, a lot of talk but how much money is that company actually generating for them? Her affiliate marketing partnerships that is said to fund TOWWN? And the book club ads, how much money are those generating? One time I saw a post where a book discussion drew in a whopping like 27 people or may be 30 something, I'd have to go find it but man... Point is, I remember Jared joining a couple of those book discussions for "Happy Place" (oh the irony of that live video and what happened there) and "Whalefall" with the promise of potential a M&G with Gen and Jared to draw in more interest. My point with this is, they are both riding their husbands' coattails to even try establishing a career and the results are, well, dismal.
