I think there's no greater indication that disco elysium is sympathetic towards communism when it literally says "communism is failure" and then the literal gameplay itself rewards trying and failing. The most obvious one being the Shivers check at the FELD mural, which is an Impossible 20 check BUT opens itself up again and again the longer you spend in the world doing things, but even just looking at sheer probabilities, for any given white check, rolling first and THEN putting a point into that skill upon failure is more likely to grant you success than putting a point first and then rolling, but that would require failing first.
Other things too: Precarious world saying you'll 100% fail red checks no matter what (not necessarily a bad thing, btw!! throwing the boule into the sea is a success but like. in some other ways one would want a perfect petanque throw instead. but people wouldn't typically assume that failure is desirable sometimes from the start) persuading you to accept that you'll fail some things that is irrevocable, for a world where everything is just a tiny bit easier.
The faux game over screen when you faint after reading Dora's letter— emulating a sense of failure on the scale of the entire game. When it rolls up most people go "What?? Game over?? No way, what did I do wrong!!" and waking up after that, with no huge or lasting impact on Harry's health or morale really tells the player, "Sometimes things will seem so bad that it all seems like it's coming to an end, but it's not the end, it's really not the end, go drink so water, you can still go on despite this failure"
I'm sure there are other things as well that are eluding me but like. The literal gameplay rewards failing and succeeding far more so than simply succeeding every single time, and I think you get a fuller experience of Elysium that way too

ultimately when it comes to shipping and fandom space treatment of aspec characters i just don't accept "aro/ace people can still date/have sex" as an answer from nonaspecs. like yeah. mhm. okay. now i think we both know that you're not saying that out of real interest in the diversity of aspec experiences. so you can turn in your seventeen-page essay on why and how you plan to examine this character's aspec identity within the context of a romantic or sexual relationship complete with evidence from canon and peer reviews from multiple aspec people within the next week or i'm putting you in the pit from the edgar allen poe story

Attended another whiteboard hosted by @pillowspace and did some Celestial Sundown AU doodles and a lil Halloween-dressed sea slug! (I wonder if Sunna would wear a scarf if Meno made one as a gift.)
So about that Meno time loop AU idea-

i do not know where i saw the take that acofaf character choices were 2/3 poignant parallels for queer experience and 1/3 hot mess bird drama as a treat -- but i didn’t need confirmation from chirp that she was in love with a woman (not forgetting squak and theodore in EP TWO) to know that the lords of the wing have had equally queer stories from the start. they are trying to please a disapproving patriarch. they are searching for marital matches that will not benefit them individually. they are notorious for being messy, promiscuous and shit-stirring. they are to jumping through hoops to stay true to themselves behind closed doors. they are hiding big secrets. up to now they were even keeping things from each other. and they are balancing all that with tireless maneuvering that results in a mature, hospitable reputation. idk that sounds outrageously -- and loudly -- queer to me.
anyway there are layers and layers upon closets in the vastness of the queer experience. not all those stories are about coming out.
sometimes they’re about arriving fashionably late on an ostrich-chariot pulled by doves.

For everyone who wishes they spent more time doing Events and Activities with their friends - planning is a Skill!
Knowing where to learn about potential activities and events, being the person to reach out to invite others, being the one to ask the "when" and "where" questions, reminding people about it: they are all skills!
If you, reading this, are the person who often does this legwork: your actions are appreciated. These skills are less commonly practiced than you think and it can be a fantastic skill to have in your pocket. It can be frustrating trying to step back from planning, or tiring to be the only person in your circle practiced at it. I know. Take my hand. We'll get through this together, maybe Saturday afternoon, for coffee?
If you, reading this, are never the person to suggest or arrange plans: it's a skill, which means that it's something you can get better at. Anxiety can be a bitch, but your friends aren't gonna be as mean as your brain already is.
Give it a shot. Look up a cafe you haven't tried, or search your local paper for events. You can't go wrong with "I was thinking of going, would you want to come with?". Ask when. Ask where. I believe in you.

You know that feeling when you're distinctly unwell but not quite sick? 🥲 Sore limbs, tired body, mild nausea, aching head, preoccupied mind, loud thoughts...
And here I hoped this week's sunny weather would help me feel better. 😞 If you guys have some fun or light observations and ideas that you want to share with me, please do feel free to send them my way, as I'm sure it would greatly help lift my spirits. 🙏🍀

as funny as the tree law stuff is, the punishment for that is a fine
and a reminder: If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the lower class
it's funny, but i doubt it'll amount to much beyond the strikers being subjected to heat stroke because do you really think that LA would side with the strikers?
if you can, donate to the Entertainment Community Fund.

Sometimes you have a dream that, while not strictly speaking "Prophetic", you feel like it should be, and you have to send a moderately unhinged email to an important cultural institution of learning to make sure you're not going to get in trouble for making it a reality.
Relatedly, anyone in the Denver/Colorado Front Range area play a transportable instrument (Something you could walk around a moderately crowded outdoors area with for several hours without harming yourself or the general public) want to come have an adventure, pending approval?
