Did Sergey lie to Lera?

SPOILERS for the Plague Doctor comics up until issue #8

Disclaimer: I read most of the comics with the help of Google Translate, so it is highly likely that I don’t have the fully picture. I wrote this after reading #8 of the Plague Doctor.

In Plague Doctor #8 Sergey tells Lera in the car that the Bird has been destoryed, erased.

When I read that, I put down my phone and started pacing in my room, because this statement comepletely contradicted my interpretation of the story so far. It contradicted what I have seen.

My opinion: I think it wouldn’t be a great story if they truly killed off the bird forever. But here’s the thing. This is my taste in stories, which has no bearing on what happens in the comics. So instead, let’s talk about what my more objective side saw.

The Knife Scene

The most convincing part for me that the Bird is right there in the comics is the scene when Oleg takes out the knife. Next we see a close-up of Sergey’s eyes and the knife reflected in them. Immediately I thought of the Bird. The way this is presented makes this moment seem very important and ominous. The knife falls to the ground, and in the next moment Sergey pushes the blade to Lera’s side. He says, “Dead. Always watch your back.”

What makes this even more convincing and important is Oleg’s reaction. All of a sudden he acts almost like a prison guard, puts Sergey in his place, “Close the knife and hand it over to me. And step back!” I find it hard to interpret this in any other way than Oleg talking to the sociopath who just crossed a line. Sergey hands over the knife with a frown. Immediately after this things go back to normal.

If the Bird has been dead for years, why do we get this scene? Why would they show us specifically this scene in this way?

Two different people behind the wheel

In every scene when Sergey is present, for like 90% of the scene I saw one of two personalities. The one who seems to be less active (or just not as eccentric as the other one) I saw perhaps in #1 at the cafe, possibly in #2 when he gives Lera and Oleg their first job (he is dressed in white), in #3 when Lera tries on the suit, in #6 after the casino when he’s been up all night and they meet at the apartment and in #8 in the car with Lera.

Let’s call him “Sublte Sergey” bc I no better ideas.

The way he’s sitting, standing, the way he’s holding himself is different from the other personality. He doesn’t take up too much space, but he also doesn’t seem to lack confidence.

The way he phrases things is more matter of fact and he doesn’t talk down to others all the time.

Doesn’t joke about murdering the person he’s talking to and doesn’t do other things that seem very sociopathic.

The other personality is way more obvious. I saw him in #2 when they first gather in the apartment, then later during the first training session. In #3 during training when he attacks Lera and starts coplaining that Oleg didn’t do a good enough job. In #4 when they meet in the apartment before the casino. And the thing is, he acts just like during the Game when the Bird was in control and the other personality was essentially held hostage.

Let’s call him “Entitled Sergey” (bc I don’t wanna call him Bird for the sake of the discussion).

The way he’s holding himself. He looks like he’s always on a stage, he takes up a lot of space, he seems overly confident.

He frequently phrases things in a very condescending way, he seems to think he’s the smartest person in the room and he’s always surrounded by idiots. He very often complains about what the others are doing.

He jokes about hurting or murdering Lera on two occasions, he’s the one who picks up the knife, possibly the one who wants to suggest ideas that Oleg immediately shuts down (perhaps bc it would cross a certain line).

If the Bird is truly dead, then who am I seeing here? Why would there be a personality that acts just like the Bird during the Game? Did the Bird play the role of this personality back then? Is this the person who might know himself to be The Sergey and is that why the Bird would have played this role? If yes, who the hell is Subtle Sergey?

The Second One

In the car Sergey talks about the “second” personality, because idk he forgot to count himself, but sure let’s call him the Second One. “He doesn’t remember anything, shakes with horror, cannot fight.” It seems like this is the person who almost crashed the car twice driving to Lera’s home. The person who’s influence is slowly fading away during the conversation in the car. Nice to finally meet you, buddy.

I do not think that the Second One equals Subtle Sergey. Because as the scene goes on he starts to sound more and more like Subtle Sergey and not like Entitled Sergey. He says he is afraid of the Second One. The Second One wouldn’t say this, at least I do not think he would phrase it in this way. So these seem to be three distinct personalities.

Who is We?

In the car when Sergey is ranting about his, well.. their internal struggles, at some point he starts a sentence with “we” then pauses and corrects himself to “I”. I really like this, because of course he would say “we” occasionally as he seems to be co-conscious and living together with at least one other personality nowadays. At first I thought he corrected himself to try make his sentences more consistent and easier to understand, since most people refer to themselves as “I”.

But after it occured to me that he might have lied about the Bird being dead I thought pehaps that was not the case. He is talking about the Second One, “If I lose self control.” and then “The epitome of his greatest fear is absolute helplessness!“ He talks about the Second One in the third person and he clearly doesn’t want this person to be in control right now. 

Immediately after this as he starts to explain what happened with the Bird during the game, he says “We...” then corrects himself to “I've never made excuses with an evil alter ego.” What if when he said “we” he was thinking “the Bird and I”? But since he later claims that the Bird is gone, he corrects himself.

Sure, he could have done this for many other reasons, such as realizing that the other part(s) of the “we” have made those excuses before. But it still makes me wonder if he indeed lied.

So what if he did lie?

If he did lie, then I think Subtle Sergey and the Bird has been living and working together on this project and we’ve seen a lot of both of them. There were some moments of instantaneous switches just like back in the Game, but now the Bird is not trying to take over, he’s on board with the plans. He’s part of a system, even.

Especially with the intense reaction of the Second One, stepping to the foreground and having panic attacks, being unsure of himself, I can see why they would claim that the Bird is dead. Even if they’re not that unsure of themselves, it makes sense to say that. Because the Bird did all those horrible things when he was fully in control and running amok. Now they’re doing things differently. Saying “oh yes, he’s right here, but I promise he’s not gonne empty a round of bullets into you like the last time” isn’t very reassuring or believable. I would definitely consider lying in this situation.

What if he didn’t lie?

Then we have the Subtle and the Entitled Sergey, one of whom seems to behave like the Bird during the Game. Which is weird writing. It’s confusing. In the Plague Doctor, we don’t get to see what is going on inside Sergey’s mind. We don’t see alters talking to each other, or be represented by different character designs. We can only guess. And putting an alter in the story who acts like the Bird, without an explanation or anything to make clear that this is not the Bird, is extremely confusing to me.

If he didn’t lie, I have no idea why we had the Knife scene. What was the point? During the Game there was a Sergey trying to resist and fight the Bird unsuccessfully. I associate this sociopathic side of him with the Bird.

If the Bird is truly gone, then a part of Sergey has been thrown out the window. They didn’t get the chance to learn to live together, to get better, to figure out their life. It is not a good lesson. You don’t ignore or kill parts of you, especially the parts of you that make it incredibly hard to live your life and thrive. You deal with it. You come up with solutions to make it work for you or at least make it stop being an obstacle. If Sergey gets to be the Anti-hero and gets to live a better life, a healthier life, it shouldn’t be because we threw out the part of him who was causing trouble.

So I hope he lied. I desperately hope that he lied. But please, Bubble at least let us find out what the truth is in the end! I am getting tired of guessing who this person is in the scene with Oleg and Lera :D Whatever the case is, I am intrigued, I want to know more, I want to know what is really going on. And as of now I am absolutely confused.

Hi! I was wondering

How do you think Hashirama and Madara would be in a Road to Ninja version?

I remember once reading a Hashimada fic (which I never finished RIP) that was about Madara appearing in the RTN universe and the 3 things that stucked with me were:

1.- Madara was the first Hokage (something that Madara thought was horrible when he saw his sculpted face on the Hokage mountain 🤣)

And personally I think that it would not have been like that even in the RTN universe because we didn't see his face along with the other faces of Hokages in the movie (Yeah, apparently I'm basing myself on a movie which I'm not even sure if it's canon or not, even though Kishimoto wrote it) and the RTN characters didn't seem to even know who Madara is.

2.- Hashirama having his bowlcut as an adult

And I agree with the Madara from that fanfic, it looks awful on him. Hashirama, babe, I'm sorry but the only ones who can rock that style are Guy Sensei and Rock Lee, I know you just were trying to be cool but it doesn't suite you.

3.- Tobirama was a porn writer

Instead of being a fan of forbidden jutsu and creating justus, he wrote porn novels a la Jiraiya. And I'll hold that headcanon with my dead hands.

The only other fanfic that places the founders in the RTN universe is one where the protagonist is Mito (it's an interesting one-shot that pairs her with Itama 🤔)

She was kind of a shy person 🤔? And so it was Tobirama 🤣 which I found fun.

Hashirama, as the first fanfic I mentioned, was the Tobirama of the place (saddenly Madara wasn't in this fic).

So I would like to know what are your versions of the founders (or only Hashirama and Madara if it is too much) in the RTN universe! And how do you think things would be

Hmm, RTN is an interesting concept to me but, to be honest, I don't think Konoha would exist if a lot of personalities got flipped 😂 I haven't read any RTN fics with the founders, but if you, or anyone else, have links at hand I'd love to check them out 👀

1. Madara

Here's the big one and the crux of why I don't think the village would exist. Typically I characterize Madara as an extremely responsible man who internalizes things when he shouldn't, takes himself way too seriously, is aggressive and abrasive even to people he loves sometimes, but genuinely loves the people closest too him. Reversing this would make a character that slacks off, takes no responsibility, and is completely passive in life and has fleeting attachments to others around him. Assuming he wouldn't die on the battlefield, I could see the RTN "alternate" personality coming about of Madara's being so overpowered and competent that he loses interest and distances himself from things before he can get attached and lose them.

It makes building a village very hard though. (At first I was tempted to go RTN Sasuke route and maybe RTN!Madara is a little more openly flirty than canon!Madara, but the passivity and refusal to take responsibility would be the "core" qualities for me.)

2. Hashirama

Hashirama is a bit weird because he has a lot of surface-level "conflicting" traits in canon. He is optimistic but he pushes beyond his natural attitude and uses it as a mask to hide instead of addressing his feelings. He's mischievous, likes jokes and games, and can be a bit hedonistic with his pleasure but can equally be serious when necessary and will willingly sacrifice for others around him. And simultaneously, Hashirama and Madara are connected by a shared sense of idealism but also anger. Hashirama is a very kind, but extremely angry, man. I think a RTN!Hashirama would share a kind of apathy of RTN!Madara but instead of passivity his lack of anger would manifest as cruelty. Because canon!Hashirama is angry but his anger is usually a righteous kind. I don't think RTN!Hashirama would go out of his way to be cruel, but he doesn't have the empathy of canon!Hashirama, especially to others' suffering. He enjoys fighting just a bit too much and has no qualms about killing. In his mind, he should always come first in any situation and prioritizing (or even considering) others' is effort and him going out of his way to be "nice" and the other should be thankful. Similarly if he feels any negative emotion, he won't bottle it up and swallow it down, he'll immediately address it, usually confrontationally. RTN!Hashirama is as intelligent as his canon counterpart but he doesn't suffer fools and he hates it when people underestimate him. He's pretty proud and vain, tbh.

I really don't think the above would make him the "Tobirama" of RTN verse. To me Hashirama and Tobirama have different core values and perspectives and inverting Hashirama's doesn't make it become Tobirama's, if that makes sense. This one is also wordy bc I immediately knew how RTN!Madara would be RTN!Hashirama is a bit harder to pin down. But I hope it's clear why I have doubts about the village existing...maybe if RTN!Hashirama got it in his mind as a pet project for the hell of it, that he'd be a better leader for the country and not just the Senju alone, and RTN!Madara liked the idea of no responsibility and being able to detach even further than he already was? But that's still kind of grasping for a reason.

3. Hashimada

Equally I think any Hashirama/Madara relationship would be ehhh. They definitely wouldn't have the overwhelming bond of their canon counterparts, and it could be a relationship ripe for unhappiness. The closest I can think of to making the ship work is RTN!Madara would be drawn to Hashirama's absurd level of self-confidence and able to let the casual cruelty slide off instead of getting worked up about it. In a way RTN!Hashirama is stable and predictable. If he's pretty overpowered, there's less of a chance RTN!Madara would lose him, so their relationship isn't deep but it's more or less dependable and Madara knows exactly what he's going to get. In contrast RTN!Hashirama has an audience in the form of RTN!Madara and a partner that's not going to push back against his ideas. RTN!Madara doesn't ask for much and he doesn't complain when RTN!Hashirama puts himself first. He doesn't want, or might not be capable of, the deep emotional bond their canon counterparts have. RTN!Madara wouldn't leave Konoha (if it existed) in the AU, because he doesn't really care. If someone upset RTN!Hashirama and he decided to leave to 'do it right' RTN!Madara would probably follow, maybe out of some loyalty for RTN!Hashirama but mostly because it's what's easiest.

4. Tobirama

The core of Tobirama's character to me is prioritizing logic over emotion and both a conscious and unconscious failure to realize he can't completely eliminate emotion. Tobirama loves his brother, he's curious and has a desire to find out what makes things work and is willing to bend morality to get results if it'll serve a greater good. He's very aware of the unfairness of the world but believes it's an unspoken truth of humanity and can only be mitigated through logical means, but never completely erased. He'll be the sacrificial lamb, the one that works in shadows so his brother can have his utopian dream. Despite everything, he loves his genin, the strongest bonds he has aside from Hashirama, and does try to instill in them lessons he think will help them and lead to peace and stability in the village. He's still influenced by the prejudices of his time and can never find it in him to truly forgive the Uchiha.

A RTN!Tobirama would be a man ruled by emotion. Him writing erotica all day definitely could be one way this manifests lol. But overall he's sensitive and spiritual and can't stand the idea of killing. He and RTN!Hashirama don't get along and he actively tries to avoid his brother. RTN!Tobirama has equally strong principles as canon!Tobirama, but they're pacifist in nature and while he likes his studies, he prefers to be out talking to people and learning from them first hand. He's very naive and can be easily taken advantage of and he has trouble focusing on any one thing for too long. No matter how many times this happens, he never can harden his heart or be overly suspicious of others. RTN!Tobirama would most likely be the one support peace in this AU. He embraces the Uchiha and all the Senjus past enemies with open arms, almost to a foolish degree. It'd be a bad idea if he became hokage in this AU because he's a terrible negotiator and has a bad people-pleasing streak and struggles with long-term tactics. With the exception of RTN!Hashirama, who he considers an aberration who doesn't have a soul, humans at their core all have good intentions at heart.

5. Mito

I characterize Mito as a very level-headed woman. Her marriage to Hashirama is political in nature but they grow to be good friends and she never expected to fall in love and she's glad Hashirama didn't want a traditional wife. Mito is devoted to her community work (she works hands-on with people in the village), she seeks out connections with others and, despite the distance, remains close with her family in Uzushio, constantly writing them letters. She's spiritual and follows the Uzumakis' beliefs (not gonna list this OoT spoiler lol) and studies fuinjutsu in her spare time, something she's done since she was a child. She is willing to sacrifice if it meant protecting something she considered greater than herself, much to her own personal detriment. She loves and is proud of her children and grandchildren, but if she had a choice, she would have chosen to remain childless, she finds her true calling elsewhere.

RTN!Mito, similarly to RTN!Tobirama, is ruled by emotions. She dreams of one day making a good marriage for herself and centers romance and being a mother as her ideal life, but she's extremely picky when it comes picking the perfect husband. RTN!Mito knows how much she's worth and she refuses to settle and will not even entertain the idea of an arranged marriage. She has a hard time forming long-lasting, deep bonds with other people and views starting her own family as the solution to this problem. At times she can be a bit absent-minded and unintentionally selfish, but she's not actively malicious. She blusters a lot and depending on the situation can come off as cold and uncaring, but it's only to hide the depth of her true feelings and loneliness. In this AU she would absolutely refuse to marriage RTN!Hashirama. Nothing on hell or earth, could make her change her mind.

Mito is such a blank-slate character it feels like writing an oc more than a canon character, tbh. And this is something I don't see brought up a lot but a "heart full of love" to combat the kyuubi's hatred to me has never been exclusive to romantic or familial (to children) love. *cough* I want a complex female character who's not vilified for not wanting to have children and/or regretting having them *cough* Mito's "love" was for the people of Konoha and Uzushio. My personal headcanon regarding her and Hashirama's child (I don't think she had more than one) was that she was dedicated to her son, but quickly realized being a mother wasn't her dream or something she even actively liked. The kid was well-cared for and she was dutiful towards him, but Hashirama was the parent that loved and embraced him with his whole heart and it led to some tension between Mito and her son as the kid could tell the difference and neither of them were "wrong" to feel the way they did. This is why Tsunade was shown with Hashirama instead of Mito, he was a lot more present in her life when she was young (instead of Kishi just not having made Mito as a character yet). But after Hashirama and Tsunade's dad died (and then Nawaki), she and Mito grew close but it was definitely more of a friendship or student/mentor relationship rather than a traditional grandmother/granddaughter relationship but both were satisfied with it and loved eachother. Likewise I didn't want RTN!Mito's characterization to be shallow and hit misogynistic undertones with her being an "opposite" to Mito's calm, level-headed, focused on her work/passions characterization.

6. Closing thoughts

#1: Wow this got long #2: I feel conflicted about RTN because it seemed to flip surface-level characteristics instead of deep characterizations, and ignored flaws altogether. The ones above, esp. Hashirama and Madara's, are kind of dark in a way? But that's the only way it makes sense to me...Gai and Lee caring about style and being stylish is a funny joke but if you were to actually poke and prod and say their personalities were inverted, neither of them would be top-notch ninja as we know...unless I'm just completely misremembering RTN because I realize it's been years since I saw it lol. Anyway, hope this was entertaining!

Persona 5 Royal Review/Analysis

So I didn’t have a ps4 when the original persona 5 came out, so royal was my first experience with the game, as a result, I will be talking about spoilers for both the original content and Royal bc a lot of the additions seem mixed in aside from just the third semester stuff

let’s get the summary

Prepare for an all-new RPG experience in Persona 5 Royal based in the universe of the award-winning series, Persona! Don the mask of Joker and join the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Break free from the chains of modern society and stage grand heists to infiltrate the minds of the corrupt and make them change their ways! Persona 5 Royal is packed with new characters, confidants, story depth, new locations to explore, and a new grappling hook mechanic for stealthy access to new areas. 

So one of the things that I picked up really early on into my playthrough was that Persona 5 feels like a very adolescent piece of media, like yeah it is about highschoolers, but more than just its cast and setting, it seemed really fixated on capturing and adolescent mindset, there is this fresh awareness to the injustices of the world and a burning desire to fix it without much understanding of how to even began to tackle those problems, and the fact it stuck so hard to to that worldview made me a lot more forgiving of its flaws then I might have otherwise been, not that there isn’t stuff to critique about the way it tackles controversial issues, but at the same time i just had this mindset of, “well of course they aren’t going to get everything right, what can you expect from teens?”

Anyone who knows me knows I am a pretentious blow-hard, but I think P5 is a perfect example of just how important style is to anything.  So much of the pure glee and joy I got when I booted up the game came from the fun presentation and commitment to the phantom thief aesthetic, I have a lot of thoughts on gameplay that seem to be contradictory to the general consensus but to keep things brief, all the “sneaking’ around a palace, grappling from places, ambushing enemies, and performing all out attacks just all gave this sense of being cool and stylish that was great, even if the writing stronger, without those fun flourishes I don’t think I would have enjoyed my experience as much

I also think the more than any other game, persona 5 does a great job of making me thinking “just one more thing” you got a lot of confidants to fill and stats to raise to fill them so there is always something to do, at most during the story sections things sometimes dragged, but i was eager to finish them to get back to finishing my goals, for as long as the game was, this made it feel so much more manageable

Unpacking an entire 110 hour playthrough is kinda an overwhelming task, so instead I’m going to talk about my four favorite characters and hopefully that will cover some good amount of material

1) Goro Akechi- one of the first things I knew about this game was what a controversial character this bastard was and it turns out I fell on the side that loves him bc I think I have a thing for traitor characters, I have to say though for most of the game I wasn’t sure how I felt about him, I knew his true role going in, so it was hard to get attached to Detective Prince Akechi as most of his interactions with Joker felt like an act, however his Rank 8 confidant link, when he not only pulls out a gun on you and challenges you to an one on one fight but also freaking throws a glove to challenge you in a duel I was like “oh so you’re a little bitch boy then!” and never turned back

To me part of what makes him so compelling is just how stubbornly he is set on his path straight to Hell, a lot of ppl were moved by his tragic backstory but honestly it does little for me, I think it is important to consider, but you have to remember he approached Shido about his powers first and basically volunteered to be his personal assassin, still it is hard to ignore that sense of lost potential, in a way I can see how getting to pretend to be a part of a safe and welcoming team environment almost made things worst because he just kept feeling like, “why wasn’t I allowed to have this earlier” and just too tied to his current path of self-destruction to waver from it, like even the fact the Phantom Thieves and he had the same goals regarding Shido in the end, he couldn’t side with bc that would mean acknowledging all the murder he did was for nothing, so they just continued to be another target on his list, made all the more dangerous bc of the affection he held for them

That said I don’t think I would have liked him so much without Royal’s updates, I mentioned Rank 8 being a key moment for me but aside from that, the fight with him in Shido palace had so much going on, it kinda dulled the weight of any one of the numerous revelations, 3rd semester kinda brought in the perfect amount and balance of the different sides of Akechi, the minute he appeared I swear me and my brother cheered in joy, obvious spoilers for the rest of it

I had seen 3rd semester Akechi called “feral” and while he is still as horny for murder as ever, i don’t really think that fits, there is still a sense of restraint to his actions, yet he doesn’t mask his true intentions and feelings so much, what I like is that his rudeness and outbursts come off as very deliberate and planned, as if he enjoys exposing the contrast between his “pleasant” reputation and his true bitterness, and with the reveal that oops he is supposed to be dead, you still have that determined “don’t be a fucking pussy, just pull the trigger,” attitude, I really like the dynamic that forms between a Joker that just wants the best for him and an Akechi that just emphatically refuses to be saved in anyway, he is an easy character to woobify but I love how canon just at every turn doesn’t let you ever see his true vulnerability even if we all know it exists down there, also just something about hearing him curse is always so much fun and delightful

TLDR: I have a lot of feelings about this edgy bastard and may or may not already have a playlist for him

2) Makoto Niijima- another character I had an interesting relationship with, while from the start she seemed like my type, the overwhelming love for her kinda made my hipster side apprehensive, however predictably I was won over and I did romance her in the end (what can I saw my Joker is into brunettes)

Part of what makes her stick out so much to me, is how the game felt much less afraid to show her unlikable in comparison to other characters, i usually don’t complain or really notice this but more than any other game series I’ve played, there is definitely a lot of self-insert fantasy elements involved, ppl rip the newer FE games apart for that, but I never really saw it as the terrible as the cast had dozens of life changing interactions with other characters, the fact most of the interaction we see are through Joker’s eyes, and the fact that he is the catalyst to changing several adults’ lives made this element a lot more noticeable

But not only does Makoto take an antagonistic role at first, but they let her be so smug and annoying that I probably hated her with the same passion as the characters themselves, yet even when she comes over to or sides, her flaws are still pretty open, like when trying to help out Futuba, she definitely had that air of, “neurotypical trying too hard to make you normal” that was understandable but still annoying, and I appreciate it bc it made the contrast between her good points all the sharper

I kinda wanted to roll my eyes at first at her archetype as an honors student, bc yeah i was a nerdy student who didn’t know how to connect with my peers and just kinda subconsciously sucked up to adults bc I didn’t know what else to do, but in comparison to the teeming tragic backstories involved, you can see a stark difference in scale, yet Makoto is just carrying all this familiar teenage girl anger that reminds me a lot of Serena from Arc V, and getting to see her embrace it is very cathartic, I also really enjoyed her confidant which was surprising after seeing everyone tear into it so much, I feel like a lot of ppl’s confidant’s centered around other ppl and it didn’t just start off with the Eiko stuff, you see her Makoto want to change from the sheltered snobbish life she has kinda trapped herself in and rediscover her dream of being a police commissioner, I also found it fitting for her to also kinda figure that out through her own little investigation and to see that exploration of justice explored through her acting with a third party

The fact she is related to Sae also gives her interesting relationships we get to see from a different POV, and a greater investment in arcs outside her own, it just naturally gives her the feeling of being more well-rounded to have it spread out, and while her romance stuff did have the same sort of fantasy elements (that I greatly self-indulged in) overall I never felt like Joker was “saving” her in some way but growing and exploring along sides her

Overall, a great character and while i think best girl debates are dumb, I will not stand for hearing her described as worst girl

3) Ann Takamaki- honestly before I got this game I expected her to be the “main girl” with a lot of popularity and focus so seeing how little love she gets was heartbreaking for me, bc she is part of what made the early phantom thieves so enjoyable

I’ve heard the discussions about the issues around her sexualization and I think things on that access come out to be a wash, the developers kinda brush near some interesting ideas about the struggles women face with sex and attraction but don’t really know what to do with that, and so I think trying to trace and overall arch one way or another about her and her body issues is kinda a lesson in futility

in the end though what made her click for me is just how much fun her personality is, like I feel like in other stories her cheerfulness might come off as generic, but the fact that she is introduced so depressed and sullen makes her attitude shift come off as refreshing, like we know she can be serious, but the fact she isn’t being repeatedly sexually harassed by her teacher gives her like plenty of reason to goof off and enjoy herself

Again despite all the criticism I really enjoyed her confidants, the Mika stuff was honestly barely a blip in the thing and most of it alternated between her shooting the breeze and just having fun and still dealing with that lingering guilt and issues surrounding Shiho and just not having been able to save a close friend when she really needed her, I think the contrast is very much needed, especially to keep things from feeling like wallowing, which i felt was a problem with some other confidants

In the end though the main reason i didn’t romance her was bc as much as I liked her as a character, I didn’t want her to be with Joker specifically, i wanted to support her and see her finally confess her feelings to Shiho and the two of them go ride off into the sunset lol, still there’s a reason I reached rank 10 with her first

4) Takuto Maruki- lol so in this section I’m going to basically go into all my 3rd semester thoughts, again the first leg of his confidant was kinda dull, but I was prioritizing him bc of the deadline, once we got into his personal past that is where I got interested

On one hand part of the charm was just getting to see a more adult story, while there are other adult confidants I found the grad school and like academic stuff relatable, plus like the little moment with the steamed glasses was very funny, he’s just a down to earth guy and his kindness is genuine

However when he stepped up as the antagonist in the third semester, that’s when he got interesting, I found the conflict itself of a dream world to be kinda simple, aside from the fact obviously we need to oppose this for a plot to happen, Persona 5 is all about this humanist approach to personal growth and change, most of what I found fascinating about Maruki was the kinda self-martyring narcissism to his approach, like aside from treat the phantom thieves with kid gloves at time and just doing his best to avoid being a bad guy, there is this simmering resentment he masks and tries to replace with his desire to basically save the world, rather than deal with his own drama and baggage he tries to invest his energy into solving other problems

And you can see some of the parallels between him and the phantom thieves that points out some of hypocrisy of themselves, calculating the exact risks and harms of altering ppl through the Metaverse is hard to do due to a variety of factors, personally I don’t even have other Persona games to look to, but in general while it is for the greater good, the phantom thieves basically impose their will onto ppl who didn’t consent to that change, and in the end they decide to oppose Maruki purely based on their desires to not live in it, the game doesn’t do much with it, but I found the contrast more interesting than the Holy Grail one, plus his boss battle was more fun bc you actually got to use the main mechanic of the game, exploiting weaknesses and baton passing

But yeah all this comes to a head at the latter half of the boss fight where he just is so desperate and refuses to lose, it is like abundantly clear that this dream world is much more for himself than it is for anyone else, it is a desire to turn all his trauma into something more meaningful than just pain, and nothing shows that more clearly than the fact he fistfights a high schooler even after he has basically lost and tries to let himself die rather than face the consequences of his lost.  All in all I think he was the my favorite antagonist and palace holder

Some last thoughts I couldn’t fit elsewhere: Casino was my favorite palace, while weak story-wise, Okumura was far from my least favorite palace gameplay-wise and his boss fight as frustrating as it was might be my favorite for engaging with the player, if anything my least favorite palace was Futaba’s, my favorite showtimes are probably Morgana/Ann, Makoto/Ryuji, and Joker/Kasumi, Caroline and Justine are a delight and I really miss them, Tycoon is addicting and distracted me from being able to beat the game for a while

I got more hot takes I might elaborate on in length in the future, but in conclusion this is another rec where I can see and understand ppl being disappointed in some of the writing and its quality but at the same time i think there is still value ppl are too quick to dismiss and definitely multiple reasons to still enjoy it, I think this is going to stick with me for longer than I first thought it wound

KH3 First Impression and Complete Thoughts

BACKGROUND: i've played kh1, com, kh2, bbs, 2.8, and a bit of khux. i've watched coded and 3d on yt, so i know the story relatively well. this is an impression of my first playthrough. i did my run on standard mode and watched the secret ending on yt. i mostly did this for story, so this will have my initial impressions based on my run that will not cover extra content like the phone mini games and cooking.  my opinions are subjected to change if i ever do any later playthroughs. pls, feel free to disagree w/ me.

!!! WARNING: THERE WILL BE A LOT OF STORY SPOILERS!!!

AUDIO: 

Music: utada is queen!!! that opening song!!! also i kept noticing how lit the songs are in each world esp frozen???  and aqua's. worth a replay just for the soundtrack alone.

Voice Acting: everyone sounded great for the most part. sora’s va have certainly improved and sounds less strained. his vanitas voice has suffered significantly though lolololol. i think i read that someone called it a wannabe dark knight voice? the organization sounded incredible, w/ my fav being xemnas, marluxia, and larxene. the disney and pixar va’s are incredible w/ my fav probably being randall in monster’s inc. 

some ppl did not get vas like xaldin and laxeaus. and phil in hercules. which were all very disappointing bc in the scenes that they were in, they would just stand around woodenly, and it’s very noticeable. 

VISUALS: 

mostly a+. environments are beautiful. water and frost textures are amazing!!! you can really feel that waterga and blizzaga. fur textures in monster's inc. could use some work. little details like the sails moving in potc rly make the worlds come alive. this could be a me prob, but environments in certain worlds make it very hard to see map markers, treasure chests, and disney emblems (which are supposed to be hard to find, but still). mostly in tangled.

strangely enough, this is the only game where i prefer in game graphics to cgi. it's already highly expressive and there's something creepy and uncanny about the cgi esp in the final fight. and it's mostly bc sora's thin chapped lips throughout the entire game suddenly becomes full.

DESIGNS: 

i don't love everyone's outfit or sora's outfit changes in this game besides toy story. this is something i alrdy knew going in, but i've always felt like the outfits in kh1 and 2 rly suited each of the character's personalities. and this is not just destiny trio but even chars like roxas, the twilight town kids and the hollow bastion crew. the move towards a uniformed look makes no sense to me like is it to unify the key bearers as one force against the organization? i could understand why destiny trio was wearing plaid but why the twilight town kids also? by the end of the game, almost everyone was wearing black and it's just boring to me. like there's a right way to do uniform while retaining characters' individual looks, and that's the wayfinder trio in bbs. in this game, not so much.

an aside, but i'm sort of disappointed in the hud moving to 3d too. the 2d portraits have always been part of kh so it's kinda a bum to see it go away.

i don't love the lvl designs but it might also be due to a narrative and pacing issue that i'll expand on. any case, vertical maps are a challenge to figure out. i don't consider myself bad at directions but there are so many moments, esp in hercules and tangled where i would be like where the heck do i go next (and i have the map) only for me to look up and find a shotlock teleport point (and this isn't so much a thing that heightens the difficulty but a time waster).

lvls and bosses in previous kh games have always been known for their gimmicks and mechanics, but in this game particularly i found it to be more tedious? and this mostly applies to frozen: who the fuck designed frozen? who the fuck thought it's a good lvl design to have sora climb a mountain, get kick off it twice, and climb it again as good lvl design? who?

all the disney bosses started blending together for me bc they're literally all giant monsters and rly easy. i think the mistake here is the fact that the disney worlds are put back to back whereas in kh1/2/bbs you have the interruption of original worlds and an actually playable important parts to the main story, in this game all the important storyline in radiant garden are locked in cutscenes interspersed throughout the game between finishing disney worlds.

a lot of ppl might disagree w this, but i miss the cinematic reaction commands and limit attacks. we still have them but i find them to be on a much smaller scale in the form of drive finishers and situation commands, but i find them to be less imaginative in kh3 in order to be less """"disruptive""" to the gameplay. i've always found cinematics charming in previous games as a way to show sora interacting with his party members during combat. little things like beast putting a hand on sora's shoulder, aladdin leaning on him, or riku bumping his fist have a way of making the friendships he forms feel organic. outside of link commands/ summons, in this game, he........just throws a lot of ppl around or is thrown around?

GAMEPLAY:

already sort of went through parts of it in the previous section, but overall combat was smooth. i love how mobile sora is in this game. the improvement to his running speed and addition of all the mobile skills like dodge roll, super slide, flow motion, blizzard skating, etc. makes combat feel fast paced and juking so easy.

magic is super improved on ever since 2.8 and feels satisfying to use esp bc i feel like ur given a lot more mp now and with the ability to save the last of your mana for cure, it feels like you're not always budgeting your magic.

underwater combat was smoother than i expected.

it's a mistake putting almost all the commands on the triangle button. there's so much options you can do in combat and you'd mean to activate one thing, but then an attraction flow comes out and you just want to die. it gets a bit easier as i went on and got more used to the controls, but in general, i still think it's a mistake to not to have an ability or something to disable certain features like in kh2 fm.

gummy ships continue to be a thing. why. i don’t like how i have to turn the camera myself now ;;;. 

i'm not a speedrunner or anything, so i can't say too much else about fighting. the physical combos to me did feel like he was spinning a bit too much tho.

STORY: oh, fucking boy.

i'm not mad, i'm not disappointed, and i'm not even surprised. i already knew that post bbs, kh has already departed far from the franchise i loved as a kid and still today, at least story wise. but let's walk through it.

Disney Worlds: the disney worlds was literally a retelling of their movies. and unlike in kh2 and bbs, where visits to disney worlds were split into two parts, with the first part following the disney story and the second part being heavily tied to the main kh story and thus having original content, the disney worlds in kh3 only get one long visit. and the integration of kh into disney was just done so poorly. remember how kh villains used to kidnap princesses? remember how they used to actually conspire to take disney characters' hearts and turn them dark? remember, you know, when they were still evil and actually interfered with the worlds? in almost every world in kh3, an org member just comes says vague menacing things to sora, calls him stupid, and then leaves. yeah. and oh, maleficent and pete looks for a black box only to not find it, and leaves. AND THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE FOR THE REST OF THE GAME.

the pixar worlds + bh6 were the only ones with any actual new content and they feel so fresh. i esp loveeeeeeeed toy story omg. the script was so good, funny, and heartwarming. the pixar consultants should have helped kh all the way tbh.

like previous games, there's an attempt for each disney world to thematically tie into the main kh story. in this game, it was as heavy handed as ever, probably even more so. 

Original Worlds: onto the meat of kh, the main story was rushed up until the end. you have a slew of disney worlds, then bam, they slam you with all the human bosses and the important story stuff. 

the ‘awakening’ of roxas, xion, and ventus were very rushed. you literally have one moment they’re no there then two seconds of white screen and all of a sudden they’re there. 

there’s a shit ton of shoehorned character redemption arcs: vexen, demyx, saix, eraqus, xehanort, xemnas, ansem. all were done either offscreen or by some miracle, they reached an epiphany after sora beat his keyblade into their heads. 

the only death scene that i actually liked, that a lot of ppl complained about, was vanitas bc yes, although i thought his character had so much potential, it was at least a consistent and sympathetic death. bless him, born a villain die a villain. same with xemnas bc i loved his last speech. 

xehanort was a shitty villain through and through. no one understood his motivation; it’s like nomura took a page from thanos’ guide of how to write villains, gave him some stupid ass goal to have a keyblade war to restart the world, and then just have him...get everything he wanted? his estranged friend comes back in ghost form for whatever reason and is just like ok we’re cool man even tho u took my student and indirectly murdered me and then gets taken up to heart heaven, like O K. and like what’s the most frustrating is that it’s implied they’re keeping him as a villain??? bc fucking ymx is like ooohh imma just go back to my own time via time travel. it’s too late for u sora hurdur. 

and the younger members of the organization, the ones that we do know were in khux. we don’t get to know how they became nobodies and they don’t get a redemption??? really???  

you can tell they tried, TRIED, hard to give everyone closure. and they miserably failed to close plot points. they actually opened more. who the fuck is the unnamed girl in lea and isa’s storyline? why the fuck did you mention her if you were going to play the pronoun game and not name her??? what the fuck was in the black box??? why are they looking for it when no one know what’s in it??? why the fuck was repliku inside of riku the whole fucking time??? why have org members be norted if they can still have agency and choose to betray xehanort??? why the fuck was BOTH sora and riku in different worlds in the secret ending????? ? ? ? 

and tho i’m very glad that wayfinder and sea salt trios get their happy ending, the destiny trio had their characters assassinated. kairi was teased to become an independent character of her own and fight alongside sora, only to get shafted to become a damsel in distress, again, literally replaced by xion in one of the last battles, AND referred to as ‘motivation’ for sora by xehanort lol. sora, the guy who’s always going my friends are my power, ONLY grieves about losing kairi, accrediting all of his strength ONLY TO HER. riku, who spent the first game desperately trying to get kairi’s heart back, and who protected her from saix in the second, suddenly doesn’t give a shit about her and is just there as sora’s moral support. it’s so frustrating that nomura has the audacity to say that this series is primarily about friendship and then pull this shit lol. it’s transparent. 

CONCLUSION: 

i think for me, the quintessential kh trilogy has always been kh1, com, and kh2. as far as i’m concerned, the story should have ended there for destiny trio. and it’s like nomura said, how he feels more sympathetic towards villains now, i think nomura’s ideas have outgrown his main character. 

sora’s journey worked in 1, com, and 2 because he had an overarching goal to find kairi and riku and return home. not everyone has to understand heartless vs. nobodies or dark vs. light but at least, anyone can understand the desperation of saving your friends. when that framework is taken away, sora’s goals and motivations become unclear; he’s a kid and has little reason to be caught up in xehanort’s plans, the keyblade war, or the organization’s agendas. and his failure to grow with the increasing complexity of the plot, to investigate for himself the bigger picture or even come into a similar realization of his own darkness/ balance like riku, makes him unfit; he’s a reactionary character instead of an active one. that’s why this game, being experienced from his point of view, felt mostly like a catch up to speed for sora and a set up to nomura’s next big thing instead of a genuine ending.  i honestly don’t think nomura knows what to do with him and with kingdom hearts anymore. 

kh3 is a game wrapped in nostalgia and promised something bigger than it could fulfill. and aside from better graphics and improved gameplay, the story wasn’t worth the wait.

This is my longest headcanon ever (4k words) so it’s going under the cut.  I added everyone so hopefully it lives up to your expectations, but heavy spoilers! And no, you don’t have to be anon!

Rika▪before even thinking about starting a relationship/life with you, Rika wants to try to make things right with everyone she’s hurt first▪she knows there’s nothing she can do to help make things right with Saeran or Saeyoung, but she tries to convince V to get the eye surgery and offers to pay for it all herself▪she even apologizes to Jumin for putting him in uncomfortable situations with hinting at a relationship between the two of them▪when you first move in with each other and buy a house, she insists you start off with a clean slate▪the house you’ve bought has a rotting smell coming from inside the walls, torn up flooring, and is just generally trashed but she’s determined to turn it into a home▪she works as an interior designer so not only is she ready for the challenge, she’s tired of redoing houses for people when you both are living in her apartment, aka a literal bomb & alarm infested apartment▪seriously, you pull a drawer too hard and then you’ve gotta explain to Seven why the alarm is ringing at 2 am and why you wanted cereal at 2 am▪so buying and decorating a house is kind of her way of taking care of you!▪you honestly can’t deny her when she gets determined about something involving you tbh▪Rika is a force, obviously don’t cross her when she wants something▪if she wants the walls neon green she’s gonna get it▪Rika is extremely talented with her job, you know the end result is going to be fantastic▪also she’s neat, very neat; everything has to be absolutely perfect for the two of you▪all of the silverware and dishes are brand new, the furniture…everything is almost too perfect but it’s homey!▪she takes you to every thrift store to find things you two can remodel for the house but money isn’t an issue▪she ADORES those cute Pinterest DIYs▪when you get around to working on the DIYs, hers look straight out of a magazine▪yours…aren’t as good.▪instead of getting mad though, Rika just smiles and shows you how to fix your mistakes. She’s a little forward with telling you it doesn’t look great but she doesn’t mean any harm by it▪she’s telling you this so you can pay better attention & learn from your mistake▪love with Rika is very straightforward. She’s blunt in stating her feelings, isn’t afraid to take charge, but she really loves you▪she likes to bake cookies & apple tart with you and it’s a Sunday tradition to sit around the house and watch movies, Zen’s musicals included, while you both cuddle▪you two volunteer a lot and the RFA parties?▪they’re a blast!▪with two party coordinators together it’s so well organized and fun for everyone▪not to mention how much money you all raise???▪your relationship blossoms into something amazing, something she didn’t come close to experiencing with V▪Not everything is perfect though, she has breakdowns often▪sometimes she accidentally tries to hurt you, but she works hard to overcome it▪even if she has to see a therapist daily, she’ll do anything▪you stuck by her side when she didn’t deserve it, she could at least try to change for the better▪after a fight she’s terrified you’re going to leave her alone but you’re there for her no matter what▪you bring her anything that’ll make her smile again▪she really just needs validation and promise that everything will be okay someday▪and with some work and trust, it will

Jaehee▪this woman is incredibly strong and underappreciated▪she’s experienced every negative emotions you can think of, and somehow still manages to stay strong and keep her head up▪she’s mostly been extremely unhappy in her life, though▪her parents died when she was young and she wasn’t wanted by her aunt, who criticized everything she did▪anything perfect was looked down on because it made her cousin look bad, but anything too sloppy and she’d be told she couldn’t do anything right▪that’s why Jaehee is so obsessed with her work being done correctly, and why she likes you so much▪instead of treating her like a work machine, you help build her up when she needs it and just support her in general▪she realizes she loves you on Valentines Day but didn’t say anything▪mostly you both were having a great time with each other watching movies and playing board games, which she didn’t want to ruin▪if her confession went wrong, it’d ruin everything▪if you left her, I strongly believe it’d absolutely destroy her▪her passion in coffee? Just the smell makes her want to vomit▪the hair you encouraged her to grow out? Cut short.▪her happiness? …..gone. She goes back to work under Jumin and works herself almost three times as hard▪unbeknownst to her, you were going through the exact same thing▪So because Jaehee worked under Jumin, she had to be cautious about the company and try to think ahead to prevent bad publicity▪she does the same with you, thinking ahead in your relationship that is!▪Jaehee heavily considers everything: what’d happen if you said no, what’d happen to the café and the RFA…▪she sets up a time and a date to confess▪finally the day comes and she buys you coffee while you both walk around a botanic garden▪it’s peaceful and quiet, plus the scenery sets a gorgeous backdrop for everything▪she kept everything a secret, but she did ask Zen how he calms his nerves and to talk her through a big conversation with MC which is cute as heck my dudes▪she sits you down on a bench and just…spills everything▪when she gets to the actual confession + asking you to be her girlfriend, she trips up on her words and accidentally stutters▪it’s so precious▪the smile on her face is priceless afterwards though▪like▪the sun can literally go home now because we have Jaehee’s smile to light up the world bye▪she’s in such a daze for the next week▪nothing can phase her because she’s so excited▪she tries to initiate so much physical contact in that week, cuddles, cheek kisses, hand holding ALL OF IT▪it’s adorable▪if you guys fight, it’s probably going to be over something small that has been blown out of proportion▪you’ll both calm down and then talk over things, eventually agreeing on what would be best for you▪Since he knew her the best, Jumin’s advice is usually the one you follow out of the entire RFA▪on lazy Sundays you two end up trying something new, whether it be gardening, putting together puzzles, or taking walks▪she loves this because during the two years she worked for Jumin, she barely had time to even eat▪so now she has all of this free time to spend with you!!!▪she loves taking walks though because it gives you time to talk and just relax while being outside▪she just loves you so much

Yoosung:▪canon that he listens to everything you have to say, no matter how small, and tries hard to improve himself as a whole so he’ll be a better man for you▪there is no judgment with Yoosung and he’s 101% willing to help you with all of the housework & anything that needs done▪love with Yoosung is a lot like this▪he’s loving, he never has any impure intentions towards you, and he’d do anything to see you happy and healthy▪he literally risked his life for you so you’d be safe???▪he listens to EVERYTHING the Men of Monogamy group tells him about love▪and tbh he probably calls his mom everything too▪Yoosung keeps detailed notes of all your dates, from what the date consisted of to what you wore▪he tries to prevent conflict but is very quick to fix things if you do fight▪just having you beside him was enough to make him want to become better and more hardworking▪so he studies for another year, quitting LOLOL and renting an apartment for both of you▪sometimes you’re in awe of how much he’s able to juggle at one time but he does it flawlessly▪a lazy Sunday would include laying together on his couch, cuddling and playing video games together and trying to learn how to cook▪frequent movie dates which consist of throwing popcorn up in the air and trying to catch it in your mouth during the previews it’s gotten you both kicked out of the theater more than once and then walking around town together discussing the movie and holding hands▪when he proposes to you it’s shortly after he graduates college bc he just can’t wait to start a shared life▪you both are decorating the waiting room in his new clinic when he asks you to both take a break▪he gives you the cheesiest speech you’ve ever heard in your life, but it’s definitely written by him his mom co-wrote and edited it though, thx Mrs. Kim▪speaking of her, he took so much more advice from his mom just to make sure everything was perfect▪as for the ring! He took Jaehee and V along with him to pick it out▪but Jaehee knew what would be in his price range, and V had experience with engagement rings▪Jaehee picked the more simple ones, V picked the prettiest ones (I mean, he’s a photographer so he knows beauty) so the two of them combined…▪Yoosung had the final say though▪your engagement ring will be your wedding ring too, but it’s absolutely, incredibly gorgeous▪he clearly put so much effort into everything, it’s so adorable▪finally he gets to officially spend the rest of his life with you!▪Lisa is your child for the first two years, but when you finally have a child it’s like his dreams have all come true▪Yoosung is an incredible boyfriend and husband. He’s honest, dependable, and will always be your best friend through anything and everything

Jumin▪canon that everything is really rushed bc he never had a relationship so now he wants everything all at once▪your wedding was so crowded that even the RFA didn’t get a single word to you both in but it was beautiful and easily the best day of your life▪V’s wedding gift to you two was the eye surgery and his promise to be the photographer you know those photos are amazinggg▪but enough about the wedding, Jumin promised you that anything you have will always be the best and he’ll never force you into anything▪he still stands by that▪if he feels there’s a fight coming, he’ll immediately step away and let both parties cool off▪it’s just part of being a businessman tbh, he knows when a fight is coming and how to resolve things▪once you’re both calm and collected, then you can talk it out▪if you come to him when you’re angry, he’ll just refuse to speak to you▪again, he’s a businessman so he’ll get straight to the point and address whatever the root cause is and fix it▪but he’s very against couple’s therapy and won’t partake in it no matter what▪he’s against it because he’s sure you two can figure everything out by yourselves, and that there’s no use involving other people in your relationship. He’s also afraid of the media somehow getting ahold of the information and would twist it against you▪he can’t risk losing you so sometimes he’d be too possessive, which also sparks some fights▪he’ll feel guilty about that later because you mean everything to him and hurting you is never his intention▪lazy Sundays mostly consist of cuddling and he’ll make you his signature strawberry pancakes▪walks around his garden, reading, he loves anything domestic that resembles a normal relationship▪he just loves being in your company though, you could be sitting across the room from each other in silence and he’d still like it▪on Saturday nights he likes to drink wine with you and V▪the three of you are so close, anyone looking in would never be able to guess that you didn’t know them your entire life▪he reads to you every night before bed and likes it when you’re curled up with your head over his heart▪that way he can hold you close and stroke your hair▪even though it could be taken the wrong way, he buys you gifts very very frequently▪it’s just because he likes imagining how happy you’ll be with each thing & the smile on your face▪everything reminds him of you and he would literally hand you the world if he could

Zen▪Zen grew up with no support▪his mother forcefully cut his hair and picked him up immediately after school so he couldn’t play guitar, something he loved▪it was such a toxic home that he ran away when he was in middle school▪and yeah, he’s not proud of his past but promises that regardless of your past it’s only important where you are now (canon)▪he’s proud of how far he’s come with acting and making it on his own▪he jokes about The Beast™ but it’s a real thing, he’s terrified you’ll run away if he shows you what he really wants or the ugly parts of him▪being around you makes him nervous sometimes but at the same time, it’s like a breath of fresh air being around someone who cares so much for him▪Zen’s super laid back about things but is worried about you being in the spotlight because his fans and haters can sometimes get too….intense with even him▪Zen is also very cautious of the roles he picks up from now on▪he wouldn’t take on any roles that could be seen as a bad influence to your future children *wink wink* or any that make you uncomfortable▪some of the musicals he’s been in have been very romantic or very sexy so he wants to make sure you’re okay with him playing those parts first!▪he values your opinion so so much but he can also sometimes get a little hot-headed when it comes to you and your safety *cough cough* remember Jumin’s route?▪and that’s because he’s never been close to marriage but when he’s with you, he wants to marry you right on the spot▪he put your engagement off for the longest time, sure his family would come around some day, but it never happens▪he didn’t want to accept it for the longest time, but after Valentines Day he realizes that his family isn’t there but you are▪keeping your relationship wasn’t honest with the media and his fans, and it was setting you both back!!▪you couldn’t even be seen together in public, let alone go on dates or have it be known that you live together▪buuut taking care of you is his first priority so if his agency didn’t like it, he could find dozens of others▪Zen dispels those rumors with Jocelyn in an interview and promises that your relationship with him is still serious and ongoing▪and within another week, you both are engaged▪honestly the proposal was kind of spontaneous▪Zen loves the idea of having a family and kids if you can’t tell▪he wants to have six of them (but he’ll settle for two, y'know)▪the first year you’re together is magical!!▪he wants so badly to take you around town and show you his favorite spots and favorite things, and he’s eager to learn more about you & your likes▪he’s extremely considerate as well, always considering your feelings and never jumping into anything without talking it over▪a relationship with Zen would also be laid back in all the best ways▪he makes everything seem so…right and comfortable

V▪Jihyun is scarred really badly from Rika▪he has so many nasty secrets just from Mint Eye and other things he’s kept hidden▪so at first he doesn’t want to be in a relationship because of this but you promise to be there for him and respect his ways▪you even offer to help shoulder some of the burden▪and…he respects you so much for it▪he could never let you but he appreciates your passion and love for him▪he’s also hesitant to go to you after a fight he’s caused▪he’s always going to find a way to make you/him believe that everything was his fault because he genuinely believes it▪after a fight you have to go to him, and your heart breaks every time you see him crying▪afterwards you just do whatever is most comfortable for the two of you▪V enjoys jigsaw puzzles and they’re a good way to relax together and build teamwork, even if he hasn’t had the surgery he likes it when you help him put the pieces into place and such▪just the warm touch of your hand is enough to remind him that you’re there for him▪he loves it when you read him poetry▪he’s an artist so of course he appreciates poetry so much!▪something about the deep meanings behind the words and how you emotionally connect to them…he adores it▪he also likes putting music on and dancing with you▪he hides things from you in order to protect you, which sometimes gets annoying but he has good intentions▪he’d do anything for you and would love you no matter what you’ve done or been through (remember that speech he gave Rika?)▪V would do anything for you and anything you do for him makes him extremely happy▪whether it’s flattening a stray hair out of place or helping him around, he falls deeper in love with you▪you can’t ever out-compliment him▪being with V is so natural▪he’s rich but he saves presents and extravagant things for more special occasions so he doesn’t overwhelm you▪he just cares so much for you▪the eye surgery is a really touchy subject because it’s an injury he’s subjected himself to deal with but getting his vision fixed would make him realize how things can change for the better▪he doesn’t have to be abused or manipulated by Rika anymore▪he can have a happy relationship and life, and he can do it with you

Vanderwood ▪Vanderwood says he doesn’t see the point in anything related to family because of his job, so it’ll take a long time of knowing each other to start a relationship▪he’s terrified something would happen to you, so if he starts having feelings for you he’ll push you away just like Seven▪you’ll probably be unsure of his feelings for a while since he isn’t very open, but he’ll show you through small little things▪he claims he doesn’t want children but down the road in your relationship an unplanned pregnancy brings him more joy than he’d thought▪he’s aware that you’re not perfect and neither is he▪if you make any mistake he’s quick to call you out but he’ll help you through it▪he really does give you self defense lessons and buys you a taser so you can take care of yourself and your daughter▪honestly not too big of a family man but he adores you both, just wishes things were a little different with his job and life▪you two deserve someone with a family, not a grumpy secret agent who has trouble with his emotions▪sometimes he’ll pull away though so just give him space▪fights are awful between you two▪after a particularly rough one he’ll be the one to come to you, half-drunk and nearly in hysterics▪neither one of you will probably talk because you know what went wrong and what you can do better next time▪so he pulls you against you and lays there until you both fall asleep▪the next day will be super lazy, you’re both exhausted from the emotional outpour▪so you’ll find a ridiculously stupid TV show to binge and spend the rest of the day together▪love with Vanderwood isn’t sweet kisses and heartfelt hugs, sometimes its listening to him lecturing you and denying his feelings but it’s always coming back to each other no matter what happens▪there won’t be a single day where you fall out of love with him and vice versa

Saeyoung ▪asking you to call him Saeyoung was a massive deal to him!▪he confessed that none of his past identities were real and “Saeyoung” was pushed away because of his past▪he wants nothing more than to quit his agency and start a life with you and Saeran but that’s not possible just yet ▪first you actually have to find Saeran▪and when you do, Saeran still has a hard time with trusting Saeyoung and possibly suffers heavy withdrawals from the potent drugs he recieved at Mint Eye▪either way, Saeran puts a heavy strain on your relationship for a while until he gets better▪but once he does, Saeyoung finally buckles down and proposes▪Saeran claims it’s because Saeyoung is scared that if he waits too long then someone might snatch you up▪on lazy Sundays he just likes to hang around the house or have a movie day with you and Saeran▪a movie day is the only activity he’ll admit he enjoys▪so you three make a giant palette on the floor and make ice cream sundaes▪it’s quiet and peaceful, sometimes Saeran and Saeyoung both fall asleep on you during the movie▪Saeyoung passes his Star Wars & Harry Potter obsessions down to Saeran and his childrenslightly unrelated but imagine Saeran and Saeyoung in Hogwarts robes asdfjklajdkal that is all▪Which, you don’t have children for several years but when you do, your sons and daughter grow up in the best household imaginable▪love with Saeyoung is patient and caring▪he always puts you first and having to wait on your marriage strengthens your relationship in the best ways▪he’s still paranoid over his agency and Mint Eye but will calm down over time once he realizes you’re with him every step of the way

Saeran▪Saeran is extremely broken and unstable▪he was abused and sick from a really young age, and then taken to Mint Eye where he was not only tortured, but brainwashed▪again, he possibly has withdrawals from the potent drugs he recieved at Mint Eye???▪as soon as he gets better, he wants to quit smoking…it makes him feel dirty inside after everything that’s happened▪so he has a lot to go through still, and even though it takes him a really long time to be able to trust you and Saeyoung,  he needs the both of you▪when he first realizes his feelings for you, he tries to ignore them at first ▪he’s not mean to you or pushes you away, he just…distances himself from you thinking the feelings would go away eventually but they never do▪it’s a bit obvious sometimes that he likes you, but you like him back so it’s not a big deal▪once you think Saeran would be okay to handle a relationship, Saeyoung helps you confess▪your relationship is tentative at first▪you want him to be comfortable, and he doesn’t want to hurt you somehow▪everything just takes it’s time and after a couple years of being together, he asks you to marry him▪Saeran isn’t the type of person to make a huge deal out of it, he most likely just asks you (which you think is random, but he’s been gathering the courage to ask you for over a week)▪and your wedding is very small▪if you have any children at all, he’s terrified▪it’s a small human being with half of his genetics?▪there is a chance the child may turn out sickly like Saeran was as a child, so if it does then it gets so much care & love▪he’s the worst when it comes to your child wanting sweets bc he does too▪but regardless, he’s grateful to you and Saeyoung for saving him▪he’s grateful to Saeyoung for teaching him that family & the world doesn’t have to be cruel▪but he’s grateful that you taught him how to be gentle and kind, that you stayed and cared for him, and that you love him▪he would never ever break that trust or hurt you
