Donna!! ♥️ if you want to could you tell me how a couple (or however many you feel comfortable with talking about) of your self ships proposed to you? i would love to hear !
Ah Gray! This is so cute, I’ll cry. 😭
I'm gonna put this under a cut cause it got loooong! 😅
Kakashi - the man was a nervous wreck. His poor friends heard nothing other than is completely unfounded worries prior to his proposal. He was convinced I'd say no, thinking himself not worthy and that couldn't be further from the truth.
It happened a little differently from how he planned it in his head. The plan was to take me to dinner, then for a walk under the stars and ending with him dropping to one knee as we gazed at the moon.
In the end, he couldn't wait, didn't think he could sit through a meal with a ring practically burning a hole in his pocket. He stopped me on a little wooded path near where I used to live before I moved in with him, it's the exact spot where he first took my hand a few years back and we became more than friends.
I cried (a lot) and he didn't like that. They were happy tears but Kakashi can be a bit of a worrier. Obviously, I said yes and the rest is history. Oh, and we didn't make the dinner... I got a little too flirty on the way and he ended up carrying me back home to do other things.
Tumblr media
Nanami - organisation is one of his strong points and he had planned the whole thing out like a military operation. Not a soul knew what he intended to do, even nosy Gojo hadn't been able to sniff out what was coming.
He took the entire week off work, had to get special permission from the higher ups but he vowed he’d work whatever was required on his return.
I returned from work to find him waiting on me with two suitcases by the door, this was quite alarming but I was over the moon when he told me we were taking a vacation. Man swept me off my damn feet, took care of literally everything and ensured I had a glass of bubbly in my hand at all times.
The actual proposal happened on the beach, it was not long after the sunset and the air was still warm. We were looking at the beach houses near where were staying when he tugged on my wrist to stop me and asked me to marry him on the spot. Kento told me that he wanted us to live here, away from his work and somewhere we could have a happy little family.
I said yes, might have been a bit over enthusiastic as I knocked him to the sand but all ended well. I got a beautiful ring and some lovely memories of intimacy under the stars. Now we are just saving up to move.
Tumblr media
Mitsuya - hmm, not one I’m super proud of but very pleased with how it ended. The proposal was not planned, he didn’t have a ring but that meant we could choose one together.
Sooooo, it might have followed an argument. Nothing super serious, but I was finding it hard how much of himself he was pouring into his work. I’d never felt neglected or unwanted in our relationship but for some reason he got really obsessed with this one show he was collaborating on.
It came to a head when he refused dinner for like the third time that week. I snapped, told him he was being selfish and that he couldn’t just waste away because there were people that needed him like his sisters and me.
It was enough for him to finally realise that he couldn’t just live through work and that there were other things more important. He cried, it was really hard to see and I definitely cried to. He asked me to marry him as we sat on the floor of his studio clinging to each other and sobbing. But we’re more than happy now and Takashi has a far better work life balance.
Tumblr media
Hanma - oh hell no… we ain’t married or engaged. Maybe one day but Shuji is a hard one to bring around to the idea of family. I still love him but we’ll see what the future brings.

I would like to know if i'm any good at writing dialogue. And to get some pointers.
It's Mammon and Asmodeus reminiscing about days while before Lucifer's reign in a VIP room at one of Asmodeus's establishments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mammon: Hey Ozzie, do you remember the good old days?
Asmodeus's bull head blew out blue smoke and says;
Asmodeus: Ah, yes.~ I remember the time when sinners were running around in every ring.~
Mammon: Ah, I remember how I used them as factory "workers"...
Asmodeus: And I used them as sex "workers".~
Both laugh in unison.
Asmodeus: It was such a beautiful time...~
Mammon: Yeah.
Mammon's face dims;
Mammon: And now, WE have to use the hell-born!
Mammon: And they are SO needy and insufficient!
Mammon: They need things like: "pay", and "rest", and "food", and "water", and "days off" and have "rights". Ti's all insufferable!
Asmodeus human head takes a big drag from his pipe and blew smoke while saying;
Asmodeus: You telling me.~ The Lust Ring is so much less fun with out sinners!~ And it shows! More Hell-born go to Valentino's clubs in pride than to mine!
Asmodeus: And you can only make hell-borns interesting for sooooo loooong!~
Mammon: And it's all those damn fallen angels fault! Damn them all! The angels, the ass'goetia and especially DAMN THAT, HEAVEN DAMNED LUCIFER! They're nothing but angels pretending to be demons!
Mammon: No offence.
Asmodeus: None taken.
Asmodeus bull head took a drag from his pipe and blew smoke while saying;
Asmodeus: Honestly the only reason why I became part of their little club, is because I want to get dirt on ye old Lucy.~
Mammon: Hm...
Mammon: Do you mind me asking. How did you get the position as one of the King's of the ars'goetia?
Mammon: Last I checked, we are "filthy Hell-born scum".
Asmodeus: ~Not if you become one of them.~
Mammon squints at him;
Mammon: And how in the Seven Rings did you do that?
Asmodeus: Do you remember Asmoday?
Asmodeus says as he empties his pipe and puts in more tobacco;
Mammon: Yeah, the ass'goetia fuck who you fucked. Why-
Mammon's eyes suddenly widen.
Mammon: Oh. Ooooh, so that's why we don't see him anymore. I thought that Lucifer killed the bastard for sleeping with you. I didn't even think you had something to do with that.
Asmodeus: And what did you think? That I just grew two more heads and bird lags as a fashion statement?
Mammon: I mean, yeah.
After a moment of steering at each other in silence;
Asmodeus: Anyways. Lucy didn't have no one to replace him, something about none of them being capable enough or something. So then I made myself known.~
Asmodeus: You should have seen his face! He was soooo desperate and angry.♪~
Asmodeus: Though pledging myself to him...
Asmodeus says as he grits his teeth;
Mammon: So what, you're working for him now?
Mammon says raising his brow;
Asmodeus: Ha, no!
Asmodeus: But I'll play along, for now.~

💬 🔞 Red Velvet reaction to: their first time with their younger and virgin girlfriend
Warnings: smut
Irene: she always suppressed the desire for you when things were getting hotter. because you are younger, she respected you a lot. even when her hands were the most eager, she tried to control them. but Irene felt like she was going to explode and relieving herself on her own was not the same as being able to have sex with you. you, who was the main reason for the desire she felt, but she respected your time. even more than yourself did.
that's why, while you were kissing on your bed and you removed your shirt, Irene was a little confused and her eyes went up and down from your eyes to your breasts in your bra, her hands caressing your waist.
"It's better if we stop here.", she said, trying to get you off her lap, but you didn't leave.
"I want you.", you confessed. "I'm sure I want to give myself to you like this. I want my first time to be with you."
Irene was a little uncertain and hesitated. but you were more than sure of your decision and wouldn't hesitate. you kissed her heartily and guided her hands over your body until she let them find their way.
each touch and each kiss was filled with the purest love and the way Irene looked at you made you feel not only loved, but also wanted. when she positioned herself on top of you, between your legs, she hesitated again. You took her hand from your hips and guided it to your center. the sensation and your permission were enough for Irene to slide her fingers along your wet extension.
"I'm... in...", she whispered kissing your cheek. "Tell me if it hurts and I'll stop..."
the feeling of a finger inside you had been uncomfortable at first. you felt a pressure and kind of a burning sensation as her finger made its way. when she stopped, it was only for a while, for you to get used to it, kissing your cheek to distract you from the initial pain. but as she moved her finger very slowly, the pleasure it gave you overcame the pain and you knew you would want more of that with her, muuuuuch more.
Tumblr media
Seulgi: "Oh, damn... it got hot in here, didn't it?", Seulgi moved away from you on the bed and turned to face the ceiling.
her body was hot, very hot, and she had to think about sad things so as not to let her mind think of things that could heat up her body even more. like you naked, for example. or maybe you moving your hips on hers.
damn.
she had just squeezed your ass under your panties, felt your warm skin against hers, and she needed to control herself. she knew that you had never had sex before and would respect your wishes. even if hers was gigantic.
she closed her eyes and you, lying on her side and facing her profile, thought about how even her smell turned you on at that very moment.
you took her hand and kissed her neck, letting your mouth slide over there before applying a light bite to the same spot. a long sigh came from her soft lips.
"If you want to do it, I want it too.", you whispered, moving your body closer to hers. "Like, I really feel ready. I feel ready for you. You make me feel safe. And... you turn me on so much...", you laughed against her neck, making her shiver.
with your certainty, she kissed you again, the kiss as hotter or hotter than before, you wouldn't know, and with hands in places that had never been explored before. Seulgi was aware that you were younger and didn't have much experience in that, but from that moment on it didn't seem.
Seulgi managed to take you to heaven many times that afternoon.
Tumblr media
Wendy: there was nothing more cliché than a trail of rose petals that led to a bed also full of petals. candles in safe places so they wouldn't start a fire. but what could you do? you didn't know how to start that, but you wanted it to be special for both of you. for you, for being a virgin and wanting to lose your virginity with Wendy; and for Wendy, who would have her first time with you. and for both of you because you loved each other and it should be special and romantic.
looking to Wendy's faces expectantly, you noticed the smile on her lips before you felt her lips on yours one more time.
"You didn't have to do all of this..."
"I wanted to do it. I wanted it to be special for us...", you were nervous, naked, and with Wendy above you.
"Regardless of how it was, it would be special because it would be with you, babe. And it was very, very special.", Wendy reaffirmed for you, making a trail of kisses by your neck. "And it was also very, very good..."
you laughed. she laughed along. Wendy was beautiful, shining, her hair tousled and her face flushed. you weren't much different.
"Since it was sooooo good...", your hand slid gently over her right shoulder, making her shiver. "How about if we... continue?"
she raised an eyebrow and gave you an excited smile, kissing the corner of your lips, before whispering:
"I think I can make your wish come true, babe."
Tumblr media
Joy: once again, you saw those beautiful eyes staring at you, while the bottom of your girlfriend's face was doing a wonderful job between your legs. it was so delicious the way she sucked you... and she loved doing it. In fact, she was addicted to it, to your taste, which she thought was bittersweet.
you had been dating for a while and, even though you were still a virgin, you had intimate relationships without penetration. pure masturbation is too good and you allowed yourself to enjoy it with your girlfriend.
Sooyoung respected your time and it was you who started these "masturbation sessions", since you didn't feel ready to lose your virginity yet; you felt insecure about being younger, but you felt ready enough to let Sooyoung touch you. she could make you cum easily without penetrating you. and she did it in a "pro" way.
when she finished cleaning your wet sex with her tongue, she lifted her naked body against yours, kissing every part she loved most, until she placed her forehead on yours. but you knew that, although masturbation is such a good thing, it was no longer enough.
"You look beautiful when you cum, you know that, right?", Sooyoung whispered before giving you a peck.
you rolled your eyes, embarrassed.
"How about... you getting... inside of me?", you asked, a little shy.
Sooyoung's eyes took on a different glow against yours. she frowned.
"I'm sure.", you answered the question that you knew was prowling her mind.
her lips merged with yours in a long kiss as you felt her hands over your waist. at the end of the kiss, Sooyoung said:
"Let me know when it hurts, okay?", her brown eyes were filled with a mixture of love, lust and concern.
you nodded.
Sooyoung's touch on you had the utmost care and affection. After that afternoon, your intimacy emerged even more, and those "masturbation sessions" led to loooong "sex sessions".
Tumblr media
Yeri: you loved to touch Yeri's body, you loved to give her pleasure and take her to the purest ecstasy of sex. satisfying her was one of the things you loved most. however, even though you touched her and she made it clear that she loved the way you made her cum, the opposite had never happened.
and you thought the problem was on you.
after your relationship was official, in a conversation with Yeri you said that you were still a virgin and had only gone further in terms of sexuality with her.
when you were making out and things went too far, she gave you all the freedom to enjoy her body and, although you haven't had sexual experiences before, you were very good at it, you knew exactly what to do for Yeri to hit her climax.
but that afternoon, when she came on your fingers, you were silent while she was lying on your chest.
"Why don't you ever touch me?", you asked, breaking the silence.
"What do you mean?", she was confused, looked up at you.
"I know I'm inexperienced but... well, when I talked to you about my virginity it was because... I'm more than comfortable losing it with you.", your face took on a reddish tone and so did Yeri's. "Maybe my body doesn't attract you to that point, I don't know... You can be honest about that, okay?"
"Hey!", Yeri sat on your lap and automatically your hands went to her hips. "You turn me on.", she bent over you and applied a kiss to your lips. "A lot. And your body is just so... wow! I was just... I was afraid you wouldn't want to. Whenever you do me, I gather a lot of strength not to let my hands go to your... You know where. But what I want most is to touch you and make you feel exactly how I feel."
"What are you waiting for?", you asked in a whisper, embarrassed but with the desire for Yeri's touch.
she kissed you one more time. and another one. and another one. to the point where you both were so close, caressing each other's bodies, but this time you were Yeri's focus. satisfying you also became one of the things she loved most.

Karaoke night
“Will they make it?” Maya asked concerned.
“They have very severe burns and all the smoke inhalation isn't helping, but you guys arrived just in time, so it hasn't compromised anything irreversibly.” Bailey said “We can't make promises but I'm positive about it”.
“I really hope you're right” Maya added, letting out a slow breath she didn't know she was holding.
“Luckily for you, I usually am!” Bailey exclaimed, raising her eyebrows in satisfaction, trying to lighten the mood  “Go home Bishop, if there's any significant update, I'll let you know”.
“Thank you Bailey”. She said, checking the time and seeing her shift was due to be over like an hour ago, so she opted for heading home.
She had tough calls almost every week, but some of them hit her harder than the others, and this one was one of them: they had arrived at the scene when it was already a three-alarm fire, because they couldn't put out the fire as it seemed to be originated by something that kept on igniting it every time they tried to use water or normal extinguishers. The problem was that when 23 arrived there first, their captain thought the fire started because of a short-circuit, which wasn't completely wrong, but what they hadn't noticed was that there was something more. They kept on using CO2 extinguishers, but that didn't seem to work. When 19 arrived, the situation was insanely bad: they still hadn't been able to rescue the couple inside of the house and nothing had improved. When Maya checked the structure, she noticed a slightly detached garage, which was linked to the building through a dangerous roofing containing asbestos but hadn't  been checked: the fire kept on reigniting because it was a metal involving fire, and that's why both water and CO2 were useless. Luckily, they had the right equipment to contain the situation, due to a training course they had done previously that week: while she contacted the specialized team for these kind of fires, they were able to put it out after a while, and she had to go in to help find the couple. When they found them, they were unconscious, but they still had a pulse: it was weak, but it was there. What moved Maya so much was how they had found them: they were two women, full of sooth and dust, one of them trying to cover with her body the other, trying to prevent her from inhaling too much smoke. They had rings on their hands, the same one, so they were probably a couple: obviously, it wasn't the first time she had to save a family, but that view made her think of Carina, her family. At the only thought of losing her, she felt sick, she couldn't breathe, but she had to focus back on the present, to be able to actively help. As soon as she was out, she jumped on the aid car and, while heading towards the hospital, using the update of her probably being late at home as an excuse, she called Carina, who had a day-off, just to hear her voice and let it soothes her.
While she was driving home, she replayed that image in her head, over and over again, and she felt her chest tighten, as if the car was closing in on her. Before stepping inside, she shook her thoughts away and took the keys. As soon as she opened the door, she was welcomed by the warmest smile she had ever seen.
“Ciao Bella! I missed you” Carina said, coming over towards the blonde, who didn't even bother to say anything, just going straight for a lingering kiss.
“I missed you too. A lot.” Maya finally added, looking the Italian in the eyes, before pulling her in a  tight hug.
“How was your day?” Carina asked, noticing that something was probably off, but willing to give Maya the time she needed to talk about it.
“It was tough, actually pretty tough” she replied, exhausted “but I'm finally here with you and that's all that matters right now”, she added, caressing Carina's face, kissing her softly.
“Yeah, I'm always here with you bella!” Carina stated, trying to reassure Maya, who still seemed a little off “if you want, we can call Andy and Vic and put off the party, so that you can relax”.
At those words, Maya's eyes went wide: how was it possible that she had forgotten about it?
“Mmm, it looks like someone forgot about the party here” Carina chuckled against Maya's lips.
“Yep, I know, I know. I'm hopeless.” the blonde said, smiling a little “Anyway, no, I don't want to postpone it. I think it will be fun. I only need to take a shower and I'm ready”
“Take your time, bella. Vic and Andy will be here in an hour.” the Italian explained
“Sooooo... that means you could join me?” Maya asked, not as flirty as usual, just needing to have her girlfriend close.
“Mmm, let me think...” Carina faked doubting her answer “As the snacks and everything are already set up, I think I can make the effort to join you” she added jokingly.
“Glad to know spending time with me is an effort, Dr. De Luca, how kind of you to let me know it!” she exclaimed, trying to sound offended.
“Well, that's the only effort I'm never gonna complain about, Captain Bishop.” she reiterated, in order to keep the mood light and easy, wishing to cheer Maya up a little.
“Mmm, that's a pretty good point, I have to admit” the blonde grinned softly, wrapping her arm around the Italian's waist, heading to the bathroom.
While they were showering, they were standing under the hot water, next to each other, Carina gently stroking Maya's hair, “Promise me” the blonde said, out of the blue “that you won't leave me”.
It caught the Italian off guard, but she immediately replied “Of course, I promise bella. Why would you think so?” she whispered, turning Maya's face towards her so that they were facing each other.
“The call, today... I couldn't help but think about you: that couple, their lives turned upside down in the blink of an eye... I can't lose you” her voice cracked.
“And you won't bambina, ever “ Carina knew she couldn't make promises, because life is unpredictable, but she felt the urge to reassure Maya and she truly believed her own words “Come here”.
They stood there, hugging each other until Maya's breath started slowing down. When they got out of the shower, hands still intertwined, they quickly got ready and within 15 minutes, the doorbell rang. “Hi Andy! Hi Vic! Hi...ehm...Michelle? Did I get it right?” Carina greeted warmly.
“Yeah, you're right!” Michelle smiled back “thanks for having me over without warning.” she added, looking around, trying to spot where Maya was.
Andy noticed her and gave her a look, before walking towards Carina and asking if her friend was okay, receiving a slight nod from the Italian.
A few seconds later, Maya walked into the living room, going straight to where Carina was standing, near the sofa, pressing a kiss on her cheek, looking at her with heart eyes.
“Oh C'mon guys, you're too cheesy. I can't with you two” Vic shouted, making everyone laugh.
“Shut up Hughes, or I'll kick your ass at the karaoke contest later, and also you don't want to be on toilet duty for next week, do you?” the blonde reiterated, raising her eyebrows.
“See?” Vic said raising her hands, looking at Carina “she is like that with EVERYONE.  She's an aggressive pitbull with us, then with you... it turns out she's a little puppy. What kind of black magic is this???” the younger firefighter added teasingly “And anyway, that's abuse of power, Cap.”
Carina couldn't help but laugh and so did Maya, even though she didn't wait to tease back “Good call Hughes. Two weeks on toilet duty, you're welcome.” she stated, getting a groan as a response.
“Ok, something is telling me that it's going to be a loooong night” Andy said, walking towards the table “Can we eat something, I'm starving!” she continued, picking up some bags she had brought with drinks and homemade tacos.
“These tacos smell soo good” Carina stated, helping Andy to serve the food, while Vic and Maya were setting up the TV, the audio and the sofa for the contest.
“Michelle prepared them, it's my tía's special recipe” she explained, inviting Michelle to join them.
“Oh thank you” You didn't have to!” Carina said “I'm sure they taste amazing.”
“I really hope so” Michelle shyly smiled “So...you are an OB/GYN at Grey Sloan?” she asked, out of curiosity.
“Yep, I've been working there for three years now.” Carina replied “It's an amazing job: every life is worth every problem you may run into, all the cryings and the misunderstandings” she continued, thinking about Teddy's child, Amelia's and all the other babies she was able to bring into this world. “What about you?” she asked back.
“Well, I'm a bit of a mess right now” she chuckled “at first, when Andy joined the academy, I wanted to do the same, especially when I heard about some friends of hers who were really hot, but I gave up before even sending my application, I wasn't cut out for the job.” she admitted “So I started dancing again and now I'm giving salsa classes for little kids, but it doesn't pay off for the effort. Kids are exhausting!”.
“I see your point, they are often hyperactive!” the Italian added “but I love dancing! A friend of mine has a school and I know she's looking for staff, if you want, I can talk to her about you!” she offered kindly, not catching the hint about the “hot friends” which actually was only about Maya.
“Are you serious??” she almost shouted “That would be amazing!!”
“Yes, I am!” she laughed “I'll talk to her tomorrow and let you know!”.
“Thank you Carina, you made my day.” Michelle stated, a wide grin on her face.
“What's all this euphoria about?” Andy asked, pretty confused.
“Carina just told me that her friend is looking for qualified staff for her dance school, and it may mean no more crying kids” she answered, still a bit shocked.
“Oh and no more me hearing about your complains! That would be revolutionary” she joked “This needs a cheer”.
“What needs a cheer?” Maya and Vic asked together, walking towards the kitchen.
“Your girlfriend is an angel” Andy declared “and I'm starting to think she has magic powers for real.”
“I told you!! She's from an outer world” Vic added vehemently, getting looks from Maya and Andy “Ok, that sounded a little bit too aggressive but you got the point! Anyway, I'm up for the cheer!”.
“So am I, even though I'm slightly confused” Maya admitted, walking to Carina and wrapping her arm around her “but I know your special powers so, I've no doubts it's well deserved” she whispered, making Carina blush and turn towards her.
“I love you” she whispered back, leaving a kiss on Maya's lips, as if they were alone in their bubble, but that didn't last for too long.
“Nope, not again under my salad.” Vic stated, pulling Maya away towards the couch “We have to play, but if you're in this mode we won't even start”.
“Just... out of curiosity: which mode are you talking about?” Maya furrowed her eyebrow.
“Are you seriously asking me that? You only have two: the “Bad bitch” mode or “the simp” one. I guess you'll figure it out on you're own which one I was talking about”.
“You're risking a lot tonight Hughes” Andy chuckled, knowing her friend.
“I'm speaking facts and you know that Herrera” Vic said, matter of fact.
After having some food and a few drinks so that everyone was a little tipsy, but still almost sober, they got settled in the couch and Vic explained the rules.
“So, the game works like this: Andy will be the judge and she will pick the songs. As soon as one of us knows the title, we have to get up and the first one who does it must say the title, the singers and sing a little part of it. One point only if we get everything right. Is everything clear?” She demanded.
“Yep, but... what are the teams?” Maya asked, looking at the younger firefighter but stroking Carina's hand who was sitting next to her.
“Oh yes, I had forgotten. Carina and I will be together, so Maya and Michelle, you two make the other team.”  Vic added.
“Wait, what? Why?” Maya groaned disappointed, causing Carina to laugh.
“Because we need you active and present, and if you're in the same team as Carina, you won't definitely be that.” Andy teased.
“Fine” Maya mumbled “Michelle: we have to win!”
“You bet!” Michelle immediately replied, squeezing the blonde's arm with no reason, causing Carina to crinkle her nose.
“You ready? 3...2...1...”
Music playing (Blank Space)
As soon as the first words were sang, Maya stood up and shouted “Me, me, I know it.”
“Ok, title and singer. Then you have to sing a part which is not the refrain”. Andy stated.
“Blank Space, by Taylor Swift.” she answered fiercely and then started to sing as a teenager driving in her car in the middle of the night “And I know you heard about me, So hey, let's be friends I'm dying to see how this one ends, Grab your passport and my hand...”
“Ok, ok, I got it, you know the song!” Andy laughed at her friend's enthusiasm, glad she was feeling better.
“Sorry, I got carried away” Maya admitted, turning to look at Carina, who was there, looking back at her with a loving smile.
“Ok, 1-0 for Maya and Michelle.” Andy remarked, making Vic groan. “Let's go with another one...”
Music playing (I like it)
Within a second, Michelle got up and started moving around “No me esperaba un golpe tan bajo prima” she said, starting to sing along with the song which she was weirdly used to listening to every time she broke up “I like it by Cardi B”
“That's not fair, what's all this camaraderie?” Vic mumbled “ you're the judge!!”
“I just wanted to piss you off a little” Andy chuckled “Anyway, 2-0 for Maya and Michelle”.
“Carina, we can't let them win!! I want you to be the most competitive you've ever been in your life!” Vic said, almost commanding it.
“Yes, I promise we'll win! I'm ready to kick asses” Carina stated, causing Maya to laugh a little.
“Here we go with the third one...” Andy said.
Music playing (she looks so perfect)
On the first note, Carina jumped off the couch “ It's She looks so perfect by 5SOS”, and she continued, screaming to the top of her lungs from the very first second until the refrain came “She looks so perfect standing there, In my American Apparel underwear, And I know now, that I’m so down, Your lipstick stain is a work of art, I’ve got your name tattooed in an arrow heart, And I know now, that I’m so doooooown”.
While singing, she got closer to Maya, feeling every word she was saying, causing the blonde to blush before she pulled her in for a soft kiss and a gentle stroking on her chin.
“Ok, ok, I'm not gonna complain because you got us the point but please come back to this world, cause we're still 2-1 for them, the judge is impartial and we need to win” Vic said, pulling Carina back towards her seat.
“Sorry, I got carried away too.” Carina admitted sheepishly, probably alcohol inhibiting all of her composure.
“Yep, you two should walk around with stones on your feet, you get carried away a little too often” the younger firefighter mumbled.
“Competitive Vic is quite a pain in the neck” Andy teased “not the normal one is something so different though”. Vic faked to get offended before Andy picked the fourth song.
Music playing (Chicago, All that jazz)
All of them were looking at each other confused, but Vic immediately got up and started dancing “Start the car, I know a whoopee spot, Where the gin is cold, But the piano's hot. It's just a noisy hall,Where there's a nightly brawl, And all that jaaaaaazz!”
“It's All that jazz from the musical Chicago by Catherine Zeta Jones” Vic shouted, out of breath “C'mon guys, you don't know it?????”
“I heard it but I didn't remember the title” Maya admitted “Anyway, how about the camaraderie now?? You're the only one which is into musical sooo...” she groaned.
“I guess now we're even.” Vic nonchalantly claimed.. “We can do it Carina!”
“You're unbelievable” Maya mumbled, before the fifth song started playing.
Music playing (Mirrors)
Before Michelle could get up, Carina was already singing, Vic already celebrating for the point while the Italian was once again getting closer to Maya, who this time was whispering the lyrics together with her girlfriend, not caring about the lost point.
“I don't wanna lose you now, I'm looking right at the other half of me, the vacancy that sat in my heart is a space that now you hold.” they both sang together, lightly swinging from side to side, with Maya's head buried in Carina's neck getting an “AWW” from Andy and the usual groan from Vic, who was secretly enjoying the scene which actually looked like a film.
“It's Mirrors by Justin Timberlake anyway”. Carina said, wanting to be correct.
After a few minutes, everyone got back in their seat, after deciding Andy should just opt for the shuffle play.
“3-2 for Carina and Vic now” Andy remarked. “Ready?”
Music playing (Numb)
Vic and Michelle gave each other a look, the song playing not really their genre and also Andy seemed pretty confused. Carina knew the song but was too worried checking in on Maya's reaction that she didn't even think about getting up to get the point.
Maya downplayed it very well, trying to keep the mood light so after saying that it was Numb, by Linking Park, she started singing as if she was at a concert. Nobody but Carina noticed the change in her eyes and with the excuse of having a little pause before continuing, she took Maya's hand and brought her to their bedroom.
“Hey bambina, are you okay? I know how much that song means for you...” Carina asked gently, caressing Maya's face.
“Yeah, I'm okay, it was just a moment, it hit me a little, but I'm okay, I promise” Maya admitted, looking down, searching for Carina's left hand.
Carina knew it was the song Maya used to listen to every day when she became aware of her father abusive behavior, she knew how much all the words showed how bad Maya was hurting and that even though she had come a long way, scars could easily start bleeding again.
“Come here” the Italian said, hugging the blonde as tight as she could, knowing that it would give her the comfort she needed.
“I love you so much” Maya said, pulling Carina in for another lingering kiss.
“I love you too”, she whispered back against her lips, before kissing her again.
Within few seconds, they were back in the living room, Vic giving Maya an annoyed look.
“What??” Maya asked.
“You're trying to bribe my teammate!!” Vic shouted, causing Maya to mumble.
“Maya, we need to win!! If we do, I promise I'll bring more tacos the next time!” Michelle said, taking Maya by the hand and pulling her towards her seat. Maya didn't even notice the little flirt, but Carina surely did and she didn't like it at all, but she didn't want to make a scene so she just started cursing the woman internally.
“Ok, 3-3...here we go” Andy reestablished the order.
Music playing (Born this way)
As it was hard to find a straight person in that house, they all got up but the very first one was paradoxically Vic, who even started dancing with the exact steps. “Born this way by the Queen of Queens, Lady Gaga” She shouted, in a very Travis' way, as she kept on singing it.
“What kind of joke is this?” Maya teased “You're the only straight person in here and you just stole our hymn!! That's not fair!!”.
“Take it up with Travis. This is the soundtrack to his workout sessions everyday, so I know every single note of this song” she admitted proudly “I think people could actually believe I'm Lady Gaga if it wasn't for the height difference” she joked.
“Oh yeah, because height is the only difference” Maya teased “Hughes, I love your naivete, it's so cute!” she added.
“Bishop, fuck you” Vic reiterated, throwing a cushion at her friend.
“Ok, it's getting serious now. 4-3 for Carina and Vic: these are the last two songs. Maya and Michelle, if you win this, there's the final battle”. Andy declared.
“We're ready” Maya replied, on the edge of the couch.
Music playing (Dura)
As soon as the music started playing, Vic understood it was some raeggeton music which she didn't know at all but Michelle undoubtedly would. In fact, within two seconds, the Latina got up, shouting “It's Dura, by Daddy Yankee” and started singing, probably a little too tipsy. “Cuando yo la vi, Dije, si esa mujer fuera para mí, Perdóname, te lo tenía que decir, 'Tás dura, dura”
While singing she got closer and closer to Maya, looking at her like she was addressing those words to her, but Maya didn't even seem to care or understand what was going on. In the meantime, Carina was watching the scene, trying hard to contain herself, before she heard Michelle whispering something in Spanish to Andy.
“Si no fuera que ella está con Carina, ya le habría pedido que tengamos una cita...esta tía esta demasiado buena. Deberías habérmela presentado antes prima: os conocéis desde la academia, no me lo puedo creer”.
Carina was pretty fluent in Spanish, so she understood everything: all she wanted to do was telling Michelle to stay the hell away from her girlfriend, but what she did instead was showing that Maya wasn't going anywhere.
While the music was still playing, she got up and sat on Maya's lap, starting to dance in a very flirty way: the blonde was now more than alert and she couldn't help but smile at the Italian, gently caressing her back and kissing her neck. If it wasn't for Vic again, they had (at least Maya) completely forgotten they weren't alone.
“What was that for?” Maya asked grinning to Carina.
“Nothing, just a little reminder” Carina smirked before kissing the blonde and then going back to her seat.
“This is the last song, I want you to be extremely concentrated” Andy stated in a serious tone.
“We got this” Vic said “We have to win” she added, talking to Carina.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Carina replied, sitting on the edge.
For this last song, Andy decided to take a little revenge on Maya: as she had won their last Taboo game, she wanted to give Carina and Vic a little help to get their last point and win the competition. She opted for an Italian song, but little did she know Maya had improved a lot...
Music playing (Anche fragile)
It was a fraction of second: Maya was already up, the lyrics hadn't even started but she had already said the title “It's an Italian song, it's Anche Fragile by Elisa”.
Andy and Vic were shocked, but not Carina, as it was her favorite song and she used to play it on repeat on their nights together, so she knew that Maya would have recognized it.
“Well, you have to sing it or you won't get the point” Andy declared, sure that her friend couldn't bring her self to speak a word of that “weird” language.
Carina chuckled knowing that Maya would have probably messed up all the words, but instead, she was caught off guard, as the blonde started singing it.
“Tienimi su quando sto per cadere, tu siediti qui parlami ancora se non ho parole, Io non te lo chiedo mai, ma portami al mare, a ballare...”
Everyone's eyes were wide open at the unexpected event that had just happened and the Italian couldn't believe it either.
“Bella, you learned it!” she said, still a little moved from the gesture.
“Yes, I learned the whole song actually” she confessed, blushing a little.
“Thank you” Carina said grinning, pulling Maya in for a soft kiss.
“Ok Bishop, I must admit: you deserved it” Vic admitted, raising her hands “you practically sang a song in Italian, that was awesome! And it also shows how much of a simp you are!” Vic couldn't help but teasing.
“Shut up, Hughes” Maya shouted, throwing back at her the cushion from before.
“Oh crap, it's almost Midnight and I had said to Robert I would have been home by 23. I think we should go!” Andy said, picking up her stuff “Thank you girls, for everything, it was good fun and I really enjoyed it!” she added, heading towards the door.
“Yep, so did I, despite knowing that my Cap will put me on toilet duty only because I speak facts about how in love she is with her super hot Italian girlfriend” Vic teased again, getting a little smack from Maya “No, apart from joking, it was awesome! We have to do this again”.
“I'll think about it, very carefully” Maya teased back.
“Thank you for everything, really. Especially you Carina, about the work” Michelle said, making Carina to force a little smile “And thank you Maya, it was very nice getting to see you again” she added, caressing Maya's hand.
Before waving them goodbye, that's when Carina thought she should make things a little bit clearer: “Lo siento mucho, pero quería decirte que Maya ya tiene novia, así que deja tu alma en paz y empieza a buscar a otra chica. Sé que es muy guapa, pero también sé que es mi novia y quisiera que tu también no te olvidaras de eso. Entendido?” [I'm really sorry, but I wanted you to know that Maya has already a girlfriend. So, just give it up and start looking for someone else. I know she's hot, but I also know she's my girlfriend and I'd like that you didn't forget about it either. Got it?]
As those words let her mouth, Michelle's jaw dropped and completely embarrassed, she reached Andy who was waiting for her with Vic in the car.
When Carina closed the door, she turned around and she saw a very confused Maya staring at her: “So you know Spanish??” she asked.
“A little, I studied it at high-school and kept on practicing it with TV series” she explained.
“And why were you talking to Andy's cousin in Spanish” Maya asked again, still not figuring out what was going on.
“I just wanted to make things clearer and I thought it was the best way” she said, walking towards the blonde and wrapping her arms around her waist.
“And what did you need to get across that well that couldn't be said in English?” Maya chuckled, putting her arm around Carina's neck.
“Maya, you didn't notice, did you?” Carina wondered, laughing a little.
“Notice what?” Maya asked, now more confused than ever.
“She was flirting with you!! And I also heard her talking to Andy about you in Spanish, but unluckily to her, I understood everything”. She explained.
“Wait, really???” Maya couldn't believe it. She didn't acknowledged it at all, too busy admiring Carina.
“Yes, so I just wanted to let her know that she better stays away from you, if her intentions are flirting all the time!” Carina groaned jealously, making Maya laugh.
“Oh so, someone is jealous... it could be a good thing...” Maya smirked “anyway, you only preserved hr from putting effort in something she couldn't achieve. I'm madly in love with you and you only.” she continued, more softly.
“That's a good thing too.” Carina smiled brightly, resting her head on Maya's neck and pulling her closer to steal her one more kiss.
As soon as they pulled away from the kiss to catch some air, Maya whispered something that made Carina's heart skip a beat.
“E non nasconderti con le battute, non mi sconcentrare, Stiamo a vedere dove possiamo arrivare E ridiamo insieme che ridiamo sempre, sempre, sempre”
“I thought you only learned it by heart” Carina said, eyes getting watery but the will to smile much stronger than the one to cry.
“I learned it so that I could understand all the words and why it meant so much to you” Maya admitted, Carina's smile growing wider and wider.
“And I also wanted you to know another thing...” Maya added.
“Tell me” Carina replied, moved and curious at the same time.
“You know that line that goes “Senza tutta questa fretta mi ameresti davvero?” she asked, and after getting a light nod in approval, she went on “Well, the answer is yes, I'd love you even if the world would never come to an end, 'cause I'll never get tired of loving you.”
“Bella I-” Carina tried to speak, but her voice cracked a little “You're amazing. You're probably the best thing that has ever happened to me.” she added.
“Probably?” Maya asked, furrowing her eyebrows, trying to sound offended.
“Yes, because I know that what we can make together, our story, our love, will always get better, day by day. Us is definitely the best thing that has ever happened to me” Carina explained, caressing the blonde's jaw.
“Mmm... you get away with it for tonight Dr. De Luca” Maya teased.
“Did I?” Carina teased back.
“Yeah, even though I think that, as it is midnight, we should start making the best of our next day from its very beginning” Maya smirked.
“Well, if you put it that way...” Carina grinned, pulling Maya towards their bedroom, knowing that she would always find the solution to every doubt and fear of hers in those deep blue eyes, that spoke nothing but unconditional love, which she was wholeheartedly willing to reciprocate.

I just finished reading your Teddy!Beatles and Square!Reader fic and it inspired this prompt and it’s extra chessy cause cringe culture is most certainly dead. When the lads notice the feelings between George and the Reader but no action they decided to take matters into their own hands and set up George and Reader themselves! They phone Reader pretending to be George and ask Reader out on a date and similarly come up with a plan to invite George.
(Hey! This is the prompt anon is referring to!)
Lmaoooo I love it! Perhaps the boys should consider voice acting at this rate 😂😂 Also, sorry this took sooooo loooong btw 💀💀 I’m trying to do follow up requests like these first from now on so things make more sense on the time line skskssk
I just hope the wait was worth it, and thank you for the request! Enjoy!
---
It's been a few weeks now since the big gig break out, and all went according to plan... The gig was a smash hit of course, and to top that off, neither you nor the boys were caught for skipping.
But in the meantime, something... interesting, has been going on between you and George.
Stealing glances. Shy giggling. Sitting beside each other at your lunch table. Walking home together after school...
It's obvious to the three of them that there's a match to be made here. George is one of the lads and well, they've known you long enough to know that the two of you'd be good together. So naturally they've been waiting for George to make a move at lunch or school. Or even, just to be surprised one day with the big news!
But they wait. And wait. And wait.... Nothing.
And after yet another day at lunch with nothing more then some shy glances and a half hearted flirtation that didn't translate as such... John pulls Paul and Ringo aside for a talk.
"This had better be worth it Lenny, if get late to class one more time i-"
"Yeah yeah, of course- Anyway... I can't be the only one here who sees what's happening with George and square, right?"
Paul and Ringo nod.
"Good, cause I'm sick of it! I say, we need to help them along..."
"And how do you propose that..."
"... I don't know, bu-!"
Paul rolls his eyes and walks off. He really can't be late again...
"Wha- Now hold on Paulie, we're supposed to brainstorm!", John jogs after Paul, leaving Ringo to catch up. But, while those two bicker on their way to class, the gears start turning in Ringo's mind...
Later, after school is out and you and George have spilt off, Ringo shares his plan. "So uh, I was thinking..."
"Well, first time for everything..."
John elbows Paul in the ribs, "Go on Ringo!"
"Well, you know how last time we got square out of school with that call? Well... What if we use that same trick and get the two of 'em out on a date!"
"Now that's just plain stupid! We got lucky pulling that trick last time, there's no way we can get away with it twice. And Anyway, how is this even supposed to wo-?"
"Oh shut up Paul! This is brilliant! Listen here, we'll call square, pretending to be George right? We, as George, pick a time and place to meet, then all we have to do is make sure we bring George to the same spot, and boom! Bob's your uncle!"
Ringo nods excitedly, while Paul stands silently with a sour face. It could work... but he has pretty high doubts.
Later that week, the lads wait until they know George is occupied somewhere else, and not with you to make their move. Today he's in town helping his mum, and you're at home diligently doing your homework.
John rubs his hands together and approaches the phone, "Alright mates, I'll go si-"
"What? But you went last time! Besides, it was my idea!", Ringo cuts in and takes a few steps towards the phone himself.
Paul gives an exasperated sigh and snatches the phone off the hook, "Are you two kidding? With those big hooters? You know square isn't deaf, yeah? The whole point is to sound like George, you clods!"
"Oh... Yeah...", Ringo looks as though he'd forgotten that little detail, while John claps a hand to his nose.
Paul dials your number and it begins to ring.
"It's not big!", John retorts.
"Is too!", Paul puts a hand over the speaker and whisper yells back, before shushing the two quickly.
"Hello?"
Right before their very eyes, Paul seems to become a different person. He leans on the wall casually, and in a scarily good George impression, Paul responds, "Hey square! Whatcha doing?"
"Who-? Wait a minute.. Sorry, I think my phone is acting up, you sound a bit off... But anyway, hi Georgie!”
Paul must be dreaming, it can’t be this easy. He’ll never hear the end of it from John...
“Just finishing that chemistry work I was helping you with yesterday. Oh, I meant to ask! How'd that do for you? I was worried I was going to fast..."
Paul manages to shake himself out of his daze, keeping up the charade without a hitch, "No no! It went fine, thanks!"
"Oh good! Anyway, did you need anything? I thought you were out in town today?"
"Uh, there was a change in plan! Yeah, and with all the free time, it got me thinking... Would you like to um, meet up?"
John clenches and bares his teeth, making a severe face at Paul, "You're blowing it"
Paul makes a face back, demanding silence, while you ask if he needs more homework help tonight. "No no, I mean like... Maybe as a date, you know?"
You gasp, "Oh George I'd love to! Do you have a where and when in mind?"
Paul suspends his disbelief once more and turns to the lads for ideas. Ringo holds an imaginary ice cream cone and licks it furiously a few times, while John mouths the word "Saturday" and holds up two fingers.
"Uh, how about Mr Whippys... Saturday at 2?"
"Sounds great, I'll be there!"
"Great! S-see you then!"
You say your goodbyes and Paul hangs the phone it's receiver. Either he’s really good at impersonating George, or he needs to have a talk with you about gullibility…
"Does George know you can do that?"
"Yeah, could've fooled me even", Ringo marvels.
"Thanks, I thought I did a right good job too... and anyway, square seemed convinced, eh?"
The other two nod in agreement. "Now uh, how do we get George?"
The three are silent for a moment, then John smiles deviously, "Not to worry lads, I think I have a plan..."
Luckily, George is kept in the dark on his friend's shenanigans and Saturday arrives the next morning. All four teds walk down the sidewalk in town, and as far as George knows, this is just some guy time with the lads.
They chat and joke all the way till they reach the top of the hill with Mr Whippys just over the crest. And right on schedule, you’re waiting patiently outside the double glass doors. Time to execute the plan...
John breaks up the chatter with a loud voice, “Hey George, look, it’s square!”, he points right at you in a grand gesture to snare George’s attention.
George perks up, “Really? Oh, so it is!” In what could possibly be a subconscious effort, he straightens his leather jacked then licks his hand and runs it over his pompadour.
Trying very hard not to groan at his love sick friend, Paul gives George a hard shove in your direction, making him stumble several steps forward. “Hey! What wa-?”, but when he turns around to look, the other three have vanished into an alley way like thieves in the night.
Of course, with all the noise, you spot George at last and walk over briskly, “George! There you are!” You look fantastic, all done up and ready for a proper night about town. George’s heart feels as though it’s about to beat out of his chest at the sight of you.
He takes a gulp of air, “H-here I am?”
“Yes silly! For our date!”, you take his hand, and if George though his heart was beating hard before, now it feels set to burst. “Don’t tell me you forgot?”, you tease, as you walk to the ice cream parlor together.
“Our... date... I, um”, George throws a few looks over his shoulder, just barely catching sight of his three mates. Ringo and John snicker while Paul gives him an exaggerated wink and a thumbs up. George looks back at you, and sees the utter joy written in your eyes as you glance over at him.
It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together... He doesn’t know how they pulled this off, but that’ll have to be saved for later.
George takes a breath and smiles confidently back as he grips your hand properly, “Course I didn’t forget! There’s nowhere I’d rather be...”, he gives you a wink and your hand a little squeeze before he releases you to open the door. You give a shy giggle and thank him.
Before George follows you in, he takes one last look at the others. They’re out on the sidewalk now, high fiving each other, while John appears to be bragging. At George’s staring, they stop. George smiles gratefully and gives his friends a little salute as they whoop and cheer him on.
Their shouts follow him into the parlor until the glass seals them out.
He couldn’t ask for better mates.

2020 20 questions meme time UWU
i was tagged by @decertatio to do this! i havent spent enough time on here recently to tag anyone, B U T! if you see this and would like to do this, consider yourself tagged, and let me know! i wanna read your answers UWU
-----
1. Do you make your bed? - GAWD NO, at least not 70% of the time, im so bad at this. it’s coz on the weekdays, i start working at 6:30am or 7am at home coz my bosses are in Australia and a lot of our clients are in Australia and/or New Zealand, and they’re 3 or 4 hours ahead of us, so i gotta get on those emails and support case tickets as soon as i can, so i give myself about an hour to catch up, and then i hurry out of the condo to get to the office before im marked late at 10am lolololol. on the weekends, when im at home, BECAUSE im just at home, i never fix my bed coz im in it 85% of the time anyway lakdjf
2. What’s your favorite number?  - 13, cliche as it sounds. not coz i think it’s lucky or anything, but because other people around me thought it was. i kind of clung onto it when i was in high school coz i wanted to fit in by standing out.
3. What’s your job? - An accounts and client services manager at a digital services agency.
4. If you could, would you go back to school? - Probably not. I love learning, HATE studying.
5. Can you parallel park? - i never got far enough into being taught how to drive by mom to get to parking
6. A job you had which would surprise people? I think every job I’ve ever held, tbh. I graduated interior design mainly because my dad told me to when i asked him if i should enroll in advertising instead (the entrance exam i passed was good for either course). the only ID job i ever had lasted only two weeks, at a firm i had to do my internship/OJT at. it was my first job, and i was let go after two weeks. after that, i was a call center agent for two months, and then a copywriter for 6 months, and then an SEO specialist for a year and a half, and then a social media content/community manager at one firm for one year, and then for another agency for 3 and a half, and now im in my second year as an accounts manager at a digital services cloud agency. even i’m surprised at this job list tbh.
7. Do you think aliens are real? - i absolutely do believe that we are not the only life in this big, huge, wide, expansive universe that the planet earth is but a miniscule blip on. there’s definitely other life out there.
8. Can you drive a manual car? - i haven’t driven a car legitimately outside of learning how to drive, but yeh i probably can, since that was what my mom taught me with.
9. What’s your guilty pleasure? - junk food and soft drinks, but in general i try not to feel guilty about anything i take pleasure in
10. Tattoos? - none, but i am ACHING for them. i’ve had ideas for a loooong time. one that i DEFINITELY want to get as my first one is part of a letter that i found that my mom wrote for me in high school. “i know that you will be able to stand up for yourself and the world will stop and take notice.” i still have the letter, so i still have it in her handwriting. i want it on the inside of my left forearm.
11. Favorite color? - Pink! lighter/softer/pastel shades are my preferred ones, but i love any shade or hue of pink tbh
12. Things people do that drive you crazy? - i hate fake guilt trips. like, when someone wants me to do something that i can’t do, they’ll come in with like “nah, it’s fine, i’ll just drop all these SUPER IMPORTANT things im doing and go out of my way to do this thing that im asking you to do because i’m SOOOOO sorry that you’re unable to do it yourself” coz it’s like...dude, if you really were able to do that or if you wanted to actually do that, you wouldn’t have asked me to do the thing in the first place. like, you’re clearly just saying that to make me feel bad enough to make me drop everything im doing and do whatever it is you asked me to do. i also hate when ppl fish for compliments by being falsely humble or self-deprecating. like. PLEASE, y’all, i’ve lived with negative amounts of self-esteem for literal decades, i know the difference between actual self-loathing and you just wanting to hear good things about yourself that you don’t want to be called narcissistic for saying about yourself. i know what it sounds like when someone is actually going THRU something or is actually having an actual hard time accepting themselves and/or asking people for what they need as opposed to when someone just wants to be told something. like. don’t insult my intelligence and experiences like that. granted, there are nuances to consider for all of these things, bUT like i said, i know the differences when i see them.
13. Any Phobias? - i have a phobia of drowning that’s light enough to NOT keep me away from water but bad enough to sometimes make watching or listening to scenes where someone could potentially drown to set some triggers off for me. i also just have a really really bad fear of dying because of getting my oxygen cut off, coz that sounds like a really slow, painful way to die.
14. Favorite childhood sport? - i was never really a sports kid. the only sport i ever really enjoyed playing willingly was badminton. i trained for a few summers but never competed, but i got good enough to make games in a court fun. i still have my badminton racquet, it’s the only Legit™ badminton racquet in the house (it’s a Yonex, handed down to me by my trainer, only been restrung twice or thrice coz the last restringing was done so damn well), all the other racquets were inexpensive unbranded knock-offs that were good enough for me and my family to have casual games with.
15. Do you talk to yourself? - yes but mostly as a product of deep focus or concentration, or really heavy emotion. having social media has lessened doing it for the latter since i can just vent on here or on twitter, but when im doing stuff for work that’s hard or needs a lot of focus or concentration, i have full-on stand-up meetings with myself.
16. What movie do you adore? - “Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion.” it’s not a perfect movie by any means, but for someone who was a bullied outcast for much of elementary and high school years in a private, all-girls, Catholic school where everyone was tall and thin and pretty and pale and smart and popular, ALL the things that i wasn’t, it was - is? - like a beacon or a hug.
17. Do you like doing puzzles? - heck yeh, coz solving them makes me feel smart, and not being able to solve them but learning HOW to is so much fun for me.
18. Favorite kind of music? - i don’t know that i have one, to be honest, i haven’t listened to current radio in literal YEARS because i dont own a radio in the condo, i barely watch TV anymore, and i dont spend enough time in a vehicle to really know what’s up. i enjoy pop, hip-hop, rnb, showtunes.
19. Tea or coffee? - more of a coffee person myself, actual tea always just tastes LEGITIMATELY like leaf water to me, and i cant find a liking for it. i do really love sweet tea and milktea tho. but yeh, im mostly a bean juice person.
20. The first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up? - An architect, like my dad. i thought i would be one, up until i discovered writing in high school, and then i thought i wanted to become a journalist until i took it up as my first course in college and hated it. but yeh, it was always “architect! like daddy!” when i was asked that question when i was a kid. i looked up to him so much as a kid, and he and i were super tight when i was younger coz i was his firstborn and a daughter. we used to call each other best friends. i miss those days a lot; things between us seemed simpler, but maybe that’s because i didn’t have the ideals, knowledge and capacity to question the way he loves/loved me as My Parent™. our relationship these days is absolutely skewed and skewered.

Some Time in the Future...
It’s morning, when Gasket Turns on the open light to their Cafe and Treat shop ‘A Moments Peace’. Already a half dozen mechs waiting outside ready to get a morning snack and a little pick me up for their day. Gasket returns to the counter, ready to take orders as his Mate brings out another tray of fresh pastries, the latest batch for the morning.
“Hello love~” Followed by a little peck to Gasket’s cheek as he passed him on his way out of the kitchen. A common sight inside the little shop as the pair was just as much in love now as they had ever been.
Their patrons for the morning consisted of mostly regulars, used to seeing the sight as they got their morning orders and sat in their favored spots to enjoy them. Outside of the six it was a quiet morning, and Gasket found himself glancing out the window at the botanical garden just on the other side of the shop. Another of his partners projects, though it was mostly run by others now.
It has been years, decades, centuries even  since the end of the war, and the last of the firefights. Drift and Gasket had Built a home on the reborn Cybertron to raise their children as their people finally all returned home. It took years for them to come back, and even longer for them to put aside animosities in favor of growth. Some anger and distrust remained in The City but most mecha kept the war in the past, in favor of moving forward.
Drift has used the funds he’s acquired during the war to build his dream and give back as much as possible. The cafe was his and Gasket’s to build, though slow at first and oft poorly received, nonetheless mecha warmed up to the quiet pleasant space.
No fighting or arguing was allowed on the premise, and at the loss of what turned out to be some amazing treats to the local if they ignored the rule, it became a peaceful place for many of The City residents to visit.
Drift had when he bought the land for the shop, bought more than enough, with lots of room for a the Garden for mecha to enjoy. He found, with help, many of the remaining examples of native Cybertronian Flora, as well as healthy non invasive species from other planets. With help he planned out and planted nearly everything inside of the garden while his shop was getting established. Focused on his Shop as it grew however much of the maintenance had fallen to his children and volunteers, until the garden itself, though owned by Drift, was almost entirely volunteer run.
It was beautiful now, containing many of the Crystal Trees Drift was so fond of as well as a small handful of colorful earth trees and others from across his travels. Many visited, taking a moment to revel in the peaceful gardens, surrounded by nature both familiar and strange.
A soft ‘Hello?” brought Gasket back out of his daydreaming though. The patron chuckled, another regular. “Mind wandering again Gasket?”
The patron didn’t even need to order, Gasket knew his prefered drink. “Yes Ah suppose Ah was. That Garden out dere has gotten so beautiful.” Finishing off the drink and handing it over. “Double sweet extra strong energon tea with a shot of copper powder.”
“You know me so well Gasket.” Taking their cup and sipping on it. “Hey I think you’re kids are coming. Those two are... hard to miss.” The customer chuckled and took their seat with a Datapad in hand.
Sure enough the talkative duo stepped up to the door, chittering and carrying on. A ‘Boof’ was heard, before they were greeted by the massive Cyberhound hanging out in his normal place under a roofed building just to the side of the cafe.
“Yes yes Hello Tank! Who’s a good boy? You are! Whos my best boy! Such a good pupper!” Fast Track carried on greeting her childhood best friend.
Flash also gave him an affectionate pat and hug before heading inside. “I’ll go see if dad and Sire can get some things started for us while you continue your love affair with the dog.” It was greeted with a stuck out glossa, to which he rolled his optics and stepped through the door.
“Flash!” Gasket came around the corner to greet his son with a hug and a kiss to his forhelm. “Good ta see ya! An your sister, when she’s done with Tank at least.” Looking through the window as Fast Track was practically laying on top of Tank to scratch his belly. They both chuckled at the scene.
“Yeah I guess she does miss him when she’s on the road. They were inseparable when we were sparklings.” Still smiling at the heartwarming but rediculous scene. “She’s going to have to wash up again, I made her wash the road film and grease off of her frame before we came here, now she’s getting all dirty rolling around with the dog.”
There was a stark contrast between the brother and sister duo. Track’s paint was mostly yellow and white, not overly bright and with small knicks and scratches. Fast Track had gone into racing, As well as engineering with a goal of breaking her idol Blurr’s records. She didn’t much care for appearances, focused more of her downtime on making her, and her team’s frames faster and more efficient, even shaving time off of Velicitron natives.
In stark contrast stood Flash, true to his name he stood in his parents cafe glittering in the light. A dancer by trade, thanks to his parentage he was, incredibly flexible. Mecha came from all over Cybertron to watch his shows. Not bad considering his career started as an exotic dancer just to annoy his Dad.
Long had he known he was adopted, though it hadn’t changed his relationship with his parents in the slightest, it did encourage him to pursue a flashier paintjob. The bright reds oranges and yellows paying homage to the Rodimus he came from, with his Dads signature Finials. About the only thing the siblings had in common. He was draped in fine bits of cloth and jewelry, soft sheer fabric hung from his hips, topped with a belt dangling with flashy golds and silvers, that happened to jingle as he walked.
“Ya know how your Dad feels about the stuff that makes noise in the shop Flash.” Gasket pointed out, to which Flash rolled his optics. “I know, I know. But it is my look.” Shifting from one hip to the other, belt making a soft jingling noise.
“Hey Flash! Drift was out of the kitchen again, replacing the few holes that had already formed in his bakery case. “Alright last batch for the morning!” Setting his tray down and coming around the counter to give his son a big hug.
Flash tried to remain dignified, which immediately went away as soon as his pedes weren’t touching the floor. “Ha haha! Dad come on! Put me down! Daaaaad!” Pedes wiggling and jewelry rattling.
Drift finally set him down, pressing a kiss to his helm and smiling. “Its sooooo good to see you kids! Well, To see you, Track’s out there mauling the dog with affection I see.” She was on the ground covered in dust and with Tank bouncing playfully around her.  “You two couldn’t be any more different.” Drift sighed, before pointing to the belt. “Keep it quiet or take it off.”
“Yeah yeah I know Dad.” Removing the rattly accessory and setting it on a table. “You are so weird about this! Its not even that noisy!”
“It is when you’re around your sister.”
“Okay true.” Track, though shorter than Flash, had taken to picking him up and shaking him back an forth just to make him jingle and rattle because she could.
It was about then when Track looked in and waived at them, who were all staring at her as she wrestled herself free of Tank. She trotted back to the door, to which Drift stopped her in the entrance. “Hey Sire!”
“Hello Fast Track. I’m really happy to see you and I would love to hug you, but there is no way you are entering the shop looking like that.” Track glanced down at her now, mostly grey frame.
“Oh... yeah... I’ll go hose off.” Turning around to head to the closest hose.
“Ah’ll get her a towel, you too go ahead and visit.” Gasket disappeared into the back, only to reemerge and follow Fast Track with a towel in hand.
“Never changes.” Drift chuckled and wrapped an arm around his son’s shoulders. “Its good to see you two, especially together. You guys having time to hang out is rare anymore.”
“I know, Track is all over the place with her career and I’m booked so often, but taking a vacation together was a good idea. Get to come see you guys, check on the garden hang out like we used too. I miss it.”
“Well we just opened the shop for the day, We’ll be here for a while, Tonight we’ll all go do something together okay? I gotta go take care of a customer.” Patting his shoulder and heading back behind the counter as Gasket and Track returned.
“Track honestleh, you could have waited to wrestle with Tank until after.”
“But I haven’t seen him in soooo loooong! I couldn’t possibly wait on more second!”
Gasket just sighed and took the towel. “Just stay clean for a bit okay? We’ll bring you two out something to eat in a bit.” Bapping Flash with the towel as he walked by.
“Fiiiiine. But we all go do something later right?”
“Dad already said that was the plan. So we’ll just hang out around here. I can’t wait to catch up finally.”
“Well, not in the cafe all day right?” Track was never one for staying put. “We’ll see how the garden is coming too. Track, you really need to learn the patience thing.”
“Nu uh, Gotta go gotta move. Its the racer way.”
“Its the spazz way!”
“I’m not a spazz!”
“You are such a spazz!”
To which this argument carried on for the next five minutes. Siblings never change, famous or not, they will always be family.
One happy family together again for at least the evening, enjoying their company, and catching up. Though the visit is short, at least they always have a home to come back to and can visit when they please.
Just another slice of life in a happily ever after ending for the family. And they couldn’t be happier.

I Took A Walk For Seven Years
by theoddcatlady
It was August 9, 2010. I was thirty eight years old. My oldest daughter Avis was twelve, and the younger pair, Joanne and John, were nine year old twins. I’d been married for fifteen years. I worked at an insurance firm. And every Sunday, while my wife and Avis went to church and the twins went to my mother’s house, I took a walk.
It was a clockwork sort of arrangement. My wife knew never to push me into going with her, I was an atheist and set on staying that way.
Of course, given what’s happened, my views have changed.
It was just a normal day. Avis gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me to not forget my coat, even if it was an abnormally warm day. I’d say it was maybe sixty five, maybe sixty eight degrees Fahrenheit. My mom picked up the twins. And I started down my walk.
We lived off the beaten path, so to speak. Our road was never busy and most of the area was taken up by farmland. A truck passed me on the road and I waved. I was pretty sure it was Art, although it could’ve been one of his sons on his way to church. Either way, he waved back.
I took a turn to the right onto Hensel. Hensel was a dirt road but it was never travelled except by farmers, and today it was quiet. Good time to collect my thoughts.
Every other time before this, I’d turn back around once I reached Art’s farmhouse, although occasionally his wife would pull me in for lemonade and gossip.
But August 9 would be the day I took the longest walk of my life.
I was passing by the cornfield when I heard laughter. To be more specific, it was a child’s laughter. I paused and looked into the cornfield.
A pair of forest green eyes looked back at me.
The girl looked to be no older than seven, had red hair tied into twin braids, and I assumed she was one of Art’s grandchildren. She smiled broadly.
“Catch me!”
She darted back into the corn and I could hear her giggles slowly fade away.
Normally I would’ve scoffed at going into the field, as I’d have to cross the ditch and I didn’t want to get dirt on my pants. But I felt a little bit of concern, a small child running around the field by herself. So with a jump that I knew my knees would feel in the morning, I jump into the corn field.
Using the sound of her laughter, I started pushing through the corn. The dry leaves scratched at my face and hands, and dust kicked up into my face.
I knew she couldn’t outrun me for long, even if she was a child with boundless energy, I had longer legs.
However, I exited the cornfield in a place I didn’t know.
My house was nowhere to be seen. And there was a light layer of snow covering the ground.
I spun around but the corn was gone, replaced by frosted evergreen trees. The temperature had significantly dropped and I was now thankful that my daughter insisted I bring a coat. I shivered and spun around a few more times, trying to make sense of this dream I’d apparently fallen into and where was that little girl?
“Hey! Mister!”
I finally spun around enough to see her, peering past a branch. She grinned.
“You catch me, I’ll show you the way out!”
That began the chase.
Getting smacked with tree branches was far worse than the corn, the needles tearing at my skin like knives as I pushed past them to find that little girl. Whenever I got lost, I’d hear her laugh. She was having fun. I was not.
The wet snow beneath my feet made it impossible to gain traction, and forget running- I’d slip if I so much as stepped wrong. With every minute I got colder and colder. My teeth chattered so hard my jaw ached.
Then I broke from the treeline into a grassy meadow.
I didn’t expect the change so I ended up toppling over. The grass smelled sweet as honey. A fat bumblebee trundled past my head and landed on a Black Eyed Susan. It was heaven.
But the peace of the meadow was broken by that girl laughing again.
“Awwww, are you already giving up?”
The warm sunlight made her glow, like a tiny angel, but as I stumbled to my feet, I caught something behind those big eyes I hadn’t before.
Malevolence.
She was toying with me and she knew it.
I can’t tell you how many times the environment changed. One minute it’d be across a meadow, then a desert during a sandstorm. I’d have to rely solely on hearing her in places like that. Sometimes we’d be back in the cornfield, and I’d shout for Art to get me out of here but no help ever came. Sometimes we’d be running across barren tundra, where she’d be just out of my grasp.
She wasn’t always a little girl either. Sometimes she was a young teen, with a gap between her teeth and who’d hum sweet tunes. Sometimes she was a ravishing model of her early twenties, with fiery hair and a flirtatious grin. And the times she wasn’t any of those, she was an ancient crone, with a bent back and arthritic hands that clutched to her cane but still managed to hobble away from me.
She called herself Clarice occasionally. Other times it was Lolita, Dixie, Isabella, Hope… I lost count of her names too. A straight answer was impossible. She’d never lie to me though, just avoid answering any of the questions I’d ask her.
So I knew she was my key out of there.
It was in the meadow where I finally got her.
She was a little girl again, and her taunting was beyond cruel this time. She’d stop, pick flowers, and run on before I could grab her. She’d throw the flowers about and sing ridiculous nonsense songs and I knew I couldn’t ever win like this.
So I dropped to the ground.
The little girl stopped.
“Oh, are you really giving up now? You’re sooooo close!”
Nothing. I remained still as I gasped for breath.
I heard her get closer and closer.
“Mister? Are you okay? Do you need a break? You’ve been going on a really loooong time…”
Once I saw her shadow I lunged.
She almost got away but my hand wrapped around her braid and I pulled her back so hard I could’ve snapped her neck. I embraced her in my arms and breathed out, “I got you.”
I’d never felt so successful in my entire life. I’d finally gotten her.
She turned around and smiled sadly.
“Can we play again? We were having fun. You don’t have to go back, we can stay here.”
No way. I was done with this. “Nope. You let me out of here right now or I’m strangling you with your own braids.” A little dramatic, perhaps, but I gripped tighter onto her hair to make clear my point.
She sighed before she kissed my cheek. The same place Avis did before church.
“Okay.”
When I woke up, I was in the middle of the plowed cornfield.
It was spring time, the ground was churned to mud and the water freezing cold. I peeled myself off the ground and began stumbling home.
It was then I noticed how tired I truly was. My mouth was parched as the deserts I ran through. My body was stiff and ached like I’d run a thousand miles, and there was a chance I had. I had one goal in mind though, and that was home. I could finally go home.
Despite tripping through the mud a dozen times, I caught sight of my house and immediately began to cry. Barely able to move, I just pointed myself to the backyard. My wife should be home about now. She’d see me and come to my aid.
Two teenage boys were on the back porch, one was smoking while the other was playing on his phone. I couldn’t recognize either of them. Had my family moved? I raised my hand and attempted to speak, but it came out as a raspy moan.
Both boys jumped out of their skin, the one smoking dropping his cigarette and they backed off. The shorter one raised a hand. “Sir, you’re gonna have to…” He trailed off and his eyes widened.
The eyes that looked exactly like my wife’s.
“… Dad?!”
I passed out on the ground, just a few steps from the back door.
I woke up in the hospital. I’d been cleaned up, had an IV running into my arm, and a woman was sitting next to my bed. Fast asleep. With a tattoo of a bird on her neck. A sparrow, to be exact.
Avis always loved her sparrows.
I’d been gone for a little over seven years. When I didn’t return from my walk, my wife reported me missing. At first law enforcement assumed I’d just ran off with another woman, but when that line of investigation went dry, they realized I’d been the victim of foul play.
Search parties were made. People were questioned. No one was imprisoned. They never found me. And life marched on.
Art apparently died about a year after I went missing. Stroke. The farm went to his sons, who ended up selling the whole property to another family. A family who stayed oblivious to the fact that was the place I was last spotted.
The boys on the back porch were in fact my boys. I just hadn’t been around when Joanne announced he was now James, at the age of thirteen. I wish I could’ve been there to help him become a man.
I apparently had a good replacement though.
After four years and it looked like I was gone for good, my wife met someone new. His name’s Clark. They’d gotten married six months after they met. Clark was a real outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and loved to go camping. As I chased a fairy child through her playground, he was taking James and John out on trips every weekend and putting away money to help James afford his surgeries and the like. Clark had two kids of his own, and I was soon a memory in this house. They could survive without me.
Avis was the only one who hadn’t given up on me. She pursued every lead. Every dead end. Every chance that I could be there, she was chasing it. Stubborn girl. My girl. But she’d grown from a girl to a woman since I’d been gone, and it was like talking to a stranger. A strange who had my chin and nose, but a stranger nonetheless.
My wife did want to help me adjust though, and kindly offered the guest bedroom for me while I recovered. I’d apparently been through hell, bones were broken and healed, muscles torn and strained beyond their limits. I was malnourished and could barely stand without my walker, and I just had nowhere to go.
It was not a place I could stay though.
Clark’s kids looked at me like I was some bogeyman that lived down the hall. Clark and I tried to be polite to each other but things became tense as my now ex-wife was struggling whether or not she should officially put down on paper who she would divorce.
I was just in the way.
But the little girl wasn’t gone.
Nightly I’d see her outside my window. She’d peer in, with those big eyes, and mouth the words,
“Come with me.”
I’ve told my wife I’m just going out for a walk.

You mentioned that Brandon/Karen's approach is very different from the MN approach. Did you ever have a hard time adjusting to the MN approach?
Yes I did! It felt sooooo weird. I remember the day of my first family session it was a REALLY hard one. We spent like 50 min on the phone with my parents and I totally shut down and was sobbing. We ended the call and I was expecting T and the clinical director to pass me off to a recovery coach and they would help me calm down but T just sat there with me as I was sobbing and sobbing and she talked to me for literally like at least another half an hour, then took me downstairs to the kitchen to do ice diving and sat by my side the whole time rubbing my back and talking to me. All in all I think it was close to two hours that she spent with me and at the end she gave me a loooong hug and was like “every time I hug you, I always imagine the GR team going ‘noooo’” and that made me laugh. It felt like I was almost doing something “wrong” at first, like that the GR team would be so unhappy with all the attention and love I was getting. I felt guilty for taking up so much of T’s time. So it was definitely hard to adjust to.
I think if this had been like 3-4 years ago, it may have turned unhealthy - like that I would’ve become more juvenile and dramatic and needing a lot of attention which wouldn’t have been helpful. But luckily since the GR helped me so much with stuff like that, I was USUALLY able to express myself through words (although the second time I went back, that was not the case and I was using behaviors left and right, but that had more to do with me feeling so entrenched and enmeshed with my ED and less that I was doing it for attention. But it also obviously did communicate a message that I was pissed at my team, I can’t deny that). If it had been 3-4 years ago, it would’ve been really really hard to leave. And yes, it was still hard, but I hadn’t gotten so attached to T and the staff that I felt I could barely live without them, which has happened in the past. And I think it’s actually been really helpful that I’ve been able to still see them sometimes when I go back for alumni group instead of feeling like the only way I could see them again would be to relapse and get sick enough for residential.
So basically, short answer is yes lol and it was perhaps even harder to make sure my bpd didn’t latch on too much to that approach.

About VK and Jared. I agree about this situation being perplexing, so here’s some random thoughts no one asked for lol. It’s funny to me now, thinking about it, that for a lot of fans Ana was never elevated to girlfriend status (I think it is widely assumed/accepted that KD was a “girlfriend”). But some people are now trying to make J and VK some great love story, like he must be sooooo in love bc he took her to the AW dinner, a radio station, and Bataclan. Or bc she’s stuck around for so long that it must be ‘serious’. But Ana is still in the fold, so to speak. CB still interacts with her on IG. When he was sick in Moscow Ana was there, even though we know VK was too. His treatment of Ana was so much better than VK. Ana was allowed to be front and center. She was in the video. She was posted on his IG. He took up for her against the fans hate. Not only was she allowed to travel with him but it was known that she was traveling with him. I do believe if she still wanted to be in his bed she could. But he wasn’t giving her what she wanted (exclusivity/marriage) so she finally moved on. VK apparently hasn’t reached that point yet. And I think that is the most important thing to remember: if they are willing to work for it, i.e. travel for/to be with him (poor Ana basically gave up her modeling career for him, she’s just now finally getting back into it) he’s game. As long as they are the ones going out of their way to be with him then yes, they get to be there.
I think Jared is just now (sloooooowly) getting back to where he used to be - not giving a f#ck about people knowing who his friends with benefits are. I don’t think he’ll go back to posting about them, bc he hardly posts about anything anymore, so this is probably as close as we’ll get to that.
***
I guess I´m seeing all this from a slightly different angle because to me it absolutely looks like VK has loooong since surpassed whatever AK was back in the day.

I saw your post about binge listening podcasts. What kind of podcast do you listen to? I love podcasts put I don't know many, can you recommend some? What app do you use? I use Sticher and Soundcloud.
I use iTunes (although most of these are available on other podcast apps like stitcher I believe)
The Moth - live storytelling recorded at moth events (which are hugely popular). People who go to moth events and want to tell a story put their name in a drawing and anyone whose name is drawn gets to tell their story on stage. The producers collect the ones they like for the podcast. Occasionally famous people attend the events. Very Good.
Snap Judgement - story telling with a beat. The host is funny (although I tend to ff through his mini stories at the beginning of each episode bc he’s soooo dramatic) highly produced with a cool score for each story, fascinating stories from all kinds of people.
RIsk! - mostly not safe for work stories, coming from a super diverse bevy of storytellers. It’s kind of like the moth with stories told in stage at live shows, only frequently the stories are filthy (in a good way) usually funny although sometimes heartbreaking. Again, very good.
Invisibilia - it’s an interesting one although there aren’t that many episodes, it’s sort of a (little) sister podcast for This American Life
Serial - well I’m sure you’ve heard of these one. There are two separate seasons so far, each season combing through the most minute details of a legal case making an honest effort to figure out what is the truth. First season is about the Hae Min Lee (Adnan Syed) murder case and the second season is about the Bo Berghdal military desertion case. Fascinating but it’s not one you can listen to half heartedly, they take a lot of focus.
Radiolab - one of my FAVES. Two charming hosts who have been in radio forever (Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich) take recent discoveries in science and dive into them, testing theories and talking to leading researchers with an infectious lilt of joy and amusement. (“La Mancha Screwjob” is a good episode)
This American Life - HIGHLY produced NPR podcast that is basically just a really good radio show. Great episode is “Abdi and the Golden Ticket.”
TED radio hour - various TED talks with connecting themes are compiled into episodes, and expounded upon with further interviews. “Extrasensory” is a great episode.
Ask me another - weekly competitive quiz show, lots of wordplay, fun to play alongWait wait don’t tell me - sort of like a quiz show, with various NPR level comedians (does that make sense?) playing, only the questions mostly have to do with news stories from the past week. Mo Rocca and Alonso Boden used to be on it a lot but I haven’t listened in a while.)
Fresh Air - terry gross interviews people who have books or movies or whatever to promote. She is a veeeeery good interviewer.
Love and Radio - odd stories that leave you feeling like you need to know more, occasionally nsfw. The Living Room is a great introductory episode.
Harmontown - Dan Harmon rants and is funny and tries to learn from his frequent social faux pas… there is an unfortunate amount of impromptu comedy rapping as he progressively gets more drunk throughout the show. It’s in front of a live audience at Meltdown comics (so it’s usually a small crowd of people who frequently attend tapings) and he has two usual cohosts and frequently pulls people from the audience and has real sincere conversations with them. He used to play shadowrun with his cohosts at the end of each episode but I think he’s stopped doing that (I usually just skipped it)
WTF (Marc maron) - Marc is such an engaging interviewer. If I were you I would go through his available podcast list and listen to any that have people you like as guests
You Made It Weird (Pete Holmes) - interview show, frequently with comedians etc. However Pete is VERY into philosophy and eastern religions and anything and everything that could expand the mind. So the conversations often go places that you wouldn’t expect. It’s kind of hit or miss for me sometimes, but there have been a good number of episodes that I’ve enjoyed. Bo Burnham’s episode is very good.
My Favorite Murder - Might as well be called “Beth’s favorite podcast” because it is. Georgia and Karen are sooooo funny and relatable to me. They each pick a murder and tell the other one all about it, without telling each other what the murder is beforehand. They are EXTREMELY sensitive when talking about the victims etc and they do not romanticize murder at all. Occasionally they say things that are unwittingly offensive but almost always apologize in the following episodes. I suggest listening from the beginning. I’m so sad now that I have to wait for episodes to post 😭
Unsolved Murders (radio theater) - kind of cheesy sometimes, the actors are a little campy and the stories sometimes seem too short, but I like to listen to it now and then.
True Crime Garage - two guys sit in a garage and drink beer and talk about crime cases that they have thoroughly researched. It’s kind of a Heart and Head duo, with “The Captain” as the heart and Nic as the head, they compliment each other. The captain occasionally says dumb things but Nic usually reigns him in, and there’s one episode that actually made me a little annoyed with the captain, but he literally took the time to apologize in the next episode and talk about all the emails he got, and he gained a lot of perspective. I respect people who are able to admit when they are wrong.
Criminal - soothing-voiced host talks about various criminal cases from over the years, and not necessarily in the way you would imagine. Shorter episodes. Highly recommend.
The Mortified Podcast - people read their often hilarious childhood journals on stage in front of a lot of other people. Amusing.
Doug Loves Movies (only the episodes Jacob Sirof is NOT on) - live podcast, movie quiz show hosted by Doug Benson, very amusing. I suggest any episodes that have Geoff Tate as a guest.
I was there too - some guy interviews people who had lesser or bit parts in classic movies. Kind of cool.
How did this get made? - three comedians (and sometimes a guest) all watch an awful movie and then walk you through all of the most ridiculous parts of said movie (Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas)
Pop Rocket - Comedian Guy Brannum hosts a weekly podcast about pop culture, light listen, Guy is charming and funny)
Pop Culture Happy Hour - not as much of a fan as I used to be (burned out) but Glen Wheldon is one of the panel and he’s one of the funniest people ever and he adores comics and is pithy and scathingly hilarious)
Getting Doug with High (only the live episodes bc the regular ones seem line one loooong commercial for his sponsors, but basically people get high together and hang out)
Honesty I’m looking for interesting true crime podcasts or unique comedy podcasts. I would LOVE to listen to more that have only female hosts (most comedy podcasts are a total boy’s club and it gets REEEEEAL old). I used to love story telling ones but I burnt myself out on them listening to three a week. I need something I can binge, so podcasts that only make a certain number of episodes available at a time are not my cup of tea.

Benvenuto, Lucas Paqueta
Tumblr media
Tudo bem? Tudo bem.
Our boy nine took the time to watch the latest Flamengo game and wrote a fantastic synopsis of what he saw. I had a little scouting report of my own, but to be honest, nine’s is so thorough I scrapped the whole thing. Enjoy and a huge round of applause to the author!
The Facts
Name: Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima
Country: Brazil
Height: 180 cm; 5′11″
Weight: 72kg; 160 lbs.
Foot: Left
Position: Central midfield, attacking midfield
Age: 21
Stat Line (Flamengo 2018): Brazilian Serie A, 24 appearances, 9 goals, 2 assists, 4 yellows
At just the tender age of 19, Paqueta secured a starting spot on Rio de Janeiro’s biggest club in Flamengo. Though he began his career as a center-forward, he has been employed deeper and deeper with each season as both his body and game matured. He’s settled into something of an attack-minded midfielder, shuttling possession up-field and involving himself in within the final third, while still dropping back and breaking up play. 2018 has been his breakout season with 9 goals and an assist in 24 league matches, earning his first senior call-up last month. The combination of his technique and intelligence have attracted the interest of some of Europe’s bigger clubs with Man U, Barca, PSG (I guess they’re a big club?) and Liverpool all courting the starlet over the summer months. Ultimately, Leonardo and if rumors are to be true, Kaka were enough to convince Paq that Milan’s project was the right fit.
And now the low cross to nine...
Nine’s Notes
Sooooo the international break is back upon us for what feels like the tenth time this season and like any sane person, I hate it. The timing of the break couldn’t have been any worse considering we are on a three game win streak and heading into the derby with maximum confidence. Regardless, I was tired of friendlies, which are still as meaningless despite now being masked as part of new Nations League so instead, I decided to scout out our newest, nearly-official Brazilian talent, Lucas Paqueta.
The Game
As TR has already touched on, Paqueta is a key player for Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A and on Sunday, Flamengo faced off against Fluminese in derby match. The match itself ended as a massive 3-0 win for Paqueta’s side. Flamengo dominated until about the 70th minute, by which time, the score was already 3-0 and the points were secured. Truth be told, the result never seemed in doubt for the Brazilians in red and black with Fluminese struggling to create any chances. However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering that Flamengo are currently in third, only four points off top spot in the league, and Fluminese are languishing in midtable mediocrity.
Also I just wanted to add a quick disclaimer before I go into discussing Paqueta’s performance. I have not watched a full 90 minutes of football in the Brazilian Serie A in at least a decade but the quality of play shocked me. I know I’m spoiled watching mostly Serie A along with some La Liga and PL footie sprinkled in, but this game was truly a chore to watch. The passing was disjointed, the defenders were rash, and both the offensive movement and defensive organization was amateurish. The GolTV commentator snoring around the 65th minute about summed up the state of Brazilian footie today.
Paqueta’s position and involvement
Flamengo’s formation was a hybrid between a 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 with Paqueta playing on the left side of the midfield trio (think of Jack’s position). He was clearly told by his manager to remain the furthest forward of the midfielders, serving as the link between midfield and attack.
Most of Flamengo’s attacks came through the left side with their left winger, Vitinho, as the main point of chance creation. Paqueta played the pass before the assist for their first goal (https://streamable.com/dhpqs) and his deflected shot directly led to a tap in for their third goal (https://streamable.com/c42sp).
Paqueta wasn’t dictating the pace, nor do I think he had a great game per his standards but his teammates were clearly looking for him every time they had the ball. And he didn’t disappoint when they did manage to get the ball to him: his passing was on another level compared to every other player out there and he did an excellent job striding out from midfield and transitioning the team to attack. So in terms of where he’ll fit in at Milan, I’d expect him to directly challenge Bonaventura when he gets here.
Strengths
Ball control: One thing that really stood out was how difficult it was for the other team to dispossess Paqueta when he was on the ball. They essentially had to resort to fouling him if they wanted to stop him from dribbling right by them. His size is also a massive plus because he can shield the ball so effectively. I would compare him to Pogba in this sense. This is a players who knows how to use his size effectively to maintain possession and use strength to bomb past defenders. Paqueta does seem to be more of a flashy player than the other two, however, with more of an arsenal of tricks to whip out in tough situations.
Breaking through the lines: Paqueta was an excellent link between the midfield and offense. He effectively uses his close control to stride through the opposing midfield, meaning that the other team would resort to fouling primarily in this game. In the few times that Paqueta did break through the wall of Fluminese midfielders, he picked out some great lateral and vertical passes that either helped shift the ball into an area with more space or create a direct chance. I will admit that there were few moments where he created clear cut chances but near the end of the game, he did play a defense splitting through ball that put the left winger one on one against the keeper.
Decision making: By far the biggest surprise was seeing Paqueta consistently make the right choices when in possession. Based off his highlight reels, he definitely seems like the type of player who values flash over direct football. His performance in this game completely dispels that myth, however. I can only recall one time when he used trickery to beat a defender and he ended up winning a foul in that play (https://streamable.com/43lve). For the most part, Paqueta knew when and where to dribble or pass, which was a massive plus. He is certainly not a ballhog or excessively flashy player – but he does know when to use his range of tricks and flicks.
Defensive work rate: The kid is absolutely willing to put in his shift when his team doesn’t have possession. There was one time when he was actually covering for his right back near the corner flag despite being the left mezzala. In fact, I would even say that he could put in a decent shift in the Kessie role but it would be a waste of his talents. His size and strength are key to making him a difficult opponent to dribble past. Also he’s a beast in the air in both defending and attacking on set pieces.
Weaknesses:
Did not impact the game consistently throughout the 90 minutes: It was a bit disappointing not seeing Paqueta take the game by the scruff of the neck and absolutely dominate it, which he certainly has the talent to do. There were times when it seemed as though the game was passing by him. I also believe that the lower quality of players around him could have contributed to this. His passing was much more intentional and crisp than his teammates, who often failed to pick him out in dangerous positions.
Not taking enough risk when on the ball: I’m being kinda nitpicky here and this is an extension of the previous weakness but I would have liked to see Paqueta create a few more goal scoring chances. He was involved in two of the three goals and should have had another assist but there were a few too many times where I saw him take a safer option. I think this would be less of an issue at Milan considering that we have a few other creative outlets who could press the issue but I would have liked to see a less risk-averse Paqueta. In the grand scheme though, being smart with the ball and knowing when to take risks is an important trait and I think we all expected Paqueta to be on the opposite side of the spectrum and be too risky. So this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just a surprising observation.
TL;DR
Paqueta has the talent and attitude to be a successful mezzala at Milan. It’ll be important for him to get some rest after a loooong year so I wouldn’t expect him to be starting for Milan before at least mid-February. But I’m optimistic on his chances of contributing in our very thin midfield. He has the propensity to show up from midfield and score a vital goal off a cross or through individual brilliance in the way that Bonaventura does along with a superior ability to create chances from the midfield or at least, push the team into dangerous positions in the final third in games where we need a more direct option. But, he’s gotta continue to work on his understanding of the game and being in sync with his teammates, something that I expect will come become easier for him as he upgrades his teammates in Milan. In conclusion, this move has the makings of another Leonardo coup but I wouldn’t place too much responsibility on him until the start of next season.
