Are you named after anyone? Not my first name, which I just chose because I liked it, but one of my middle names is Bowie (as in David Bowie).

When was the last time you cried? A couple of weeks ago, when I was feeling completely overwhelmed by the state of trans rights globally and especially in the UK (where I live) and the ongoing tragedies happening as a result. (Sidenote: it's weird to me how little I've cried since starting T, I used to cry multiple times a week and now it's every few months)

Do you have kids? No.

What sports do you play/have you played? I swam for about 6-8 years as a kid but always kinda hated it, and eventually quit when the dysphoria became too much. I did football and badminton on and off too, but was never really good at anything (asthma & possible dyspraxia & hypermobility etc.). Now I'm trying to run and work out mostly just to stay healthy. I'd like to get back into swimming but can't really afford to go to a pool regularly and I'm scared to go by myself. I also go to a lgbtq+ football club weekly when I'm in my hometown (my friend started an under-18s one which I used to do too and it was pretty much my only positive experience of sports).

Do you use sarcasm? Rarely, and only with close friends where we mutually joke like that with each other.

What's the first thing you notice about people? I actually don't know. I think most of the time I'm too caught up in the anxiety of meeting someone new that I'm more focussed on myself.

What's your eye colour? Bluey grey.

Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings. I'll watch some scary movies but sometimes they just make me too anxious to enjoy them.

Any talents? I can read pretty quickly with good comprehension (I like to take my time when reading for fun, but as an english lit student who always has a fuck ton of essays and shit to read, it's handy), I can bake really good gingerbread, and I'm weirdly good at immitating people's walks (the same way some people can do voice impressions).

Where were you born? A small city in south west england (not saying more than that for safety/privacy).

What are your hobbies? I read (a lot); I write fiction, poetry, book reviews & TV show reviews (see pinned post on where to find some of these); I embroider and sew; I enjoy baking and cooking but don't do it much atm because I don't like my flatmates so I spend as little time as possible in our kitchen where I might see them; I like going for walks but it can be difficult to get out into nature without a car (ironically) and sometimes I just solve number puzzles/do maths for fun.

Do you have any pets? Yes, this idiot (affectionate). Technically she lives with my parents, but still. Her name's Pepper and she's a generic black cat (it's hard to work out breeds of cats and she's an adopted former stray so there's no breeding history or whatever).

How tall are you? 1.72m

Favourite subject in school? It alternated between english literature and maths.

Dream job? Author/forest wizard/please don't make me enter the workforce (I'm a uni student atm)/I don't know what I want to do with my life.

Are you named after anyone? I've heard this story a buncha times so I'm pretty sure my mom got my birth name from a singer. She heard it on tv and liked it a lot, back then it wasn't a very common name in my country. My names as of now are 50/50, Tom didn't come from anyone but Teddie was 100% something I picked up from Teddie p4, hahah.

When was the last time you cried? Last Sunday when I rewatched ep 11 of Bucchigiri. especially during the part where Zabu got the absolute shit beaten out of him. Finn came home right after that and doesn't understand that one of the big points of media is to reach you emotionally, so he thought it was weird that I was crying.

Do you have kids? Nah, but I'd like to some day, if fate allows it.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Not nearly as much as I used to, because most of my friends are autistic and don't get it most of the time, so I just end up upsetting them whenever I do use it. Being sincere is much more fun anyways.

What sports do you play? None, but I would love to swim or ice skate (or, hell, do some skiing). Neither are really possible for me atm, unfortunately (do you have any idea how expensive skiing is btw. it's crazy). When I was a kid I did gymnastics and streetdance, I also played tennis briefly as a teen, but had to quit due to a lack of people in my age group playing at that club.

Any special talents? I'm a boss at packing in groceries quickly and efficiently. Not a talent that everyone possesses, I've learned (sorry Minke <3).

Where were you born? Netherlands babeyyy ✌ North-Holland to be a bit more precise. I lived next to a dyke (not that kind) so I got the real under-sea-level experience. I still live around the area but not in my hometown anymore.

What are your hobbies? Drawing, (writing?), translation and the nuances that come with it, watching movies, tv shows, animes, cartoons, playing video games, reading books, comics and manga. (and then talking about cinematography, parallels, themes, symbolism and the likes) I also collect soda cans (+ the occasional glass bottle), candy packaging, and anime figurines + other merch.

Do you have any pets? My little baby Jody (dog) who I've had since I was 7 years old! She's about to have her sweet 16 on the 23rd (that's in 2 weeks!) she's getting blind and deaf as hell but she's still lively and sweet as ever <3 And my sweet Tiger of course, who's of undetermined age (around 8/9 the vet said) and currently living with my good friend Minke and their 2 other cats (he does not like them) and dog (he is ok with her). He's not with me rn because my mom's bf is allergic, unfortunately.

How tall are you? 1 meter 59. that single centimeter haunts me. I would've also preferred an additional 10 as well.

Favourite subject in school? Art history used to my favourite in high school, and when I was in film school for a brief period I loved film history. I just love anything pertaining to the arts and it's history that involves analysing and comparing it to other time periods, really.

Dream job? I wanna be someone's househusband and make a buncha weird art on the side. Not kidding btw. But if I had to choose a more conventional dream job... it had to be something in the creative or design industry, otherwise I'll probably die of unhappiness.

୨♡୧ note: i was listening to turning page on repeat whilst writing this, it just set the mood so well.

You and Jamie were sat up in bed, Jamie was reading a book he had bought earlier that week, you were on your laptop looking at hotels to book for your next holiday. You showed Jamie some of the most interesting looking ones, but he was so engrossed in his book that you didn’t get more than a ‘hm’ or ‘awh’ out of him, but that was until you went silent. 

Your back was aching, more than usual, and you felt a sudden tightening. You knew what was about to happen. 

“Is everything alright, darling?” Jamie asks, processing the emotion on your face- a mixture of shock, pain and excitement. 

“I think… I think it’s time, Jamie.” You say, a slight chuckle coming from you. However, Jamie was far from laughter. 

“Holy shit! Oh, fuck! Okay, um…” Jamie shoots out of bed, pulling a t-shirt over his head and trying not to freak out any more than he already was. 

“Babe, calm down! It’s not like it’s just going to pop out right here right now!” You giggle, “you read the books, right?” 

No. 

“Yeah, yeah I remember now,” he lied, “so what do we do now?” 

“We wait until the contractions are five minutes or so apart, then we go to the hospital.” You explain softly, “why don’t you call your family, tell them it’s happening!” 

“Okay, sure. Do you need anything? Some water?”

“I’m fine at the moment, love. Thank you,” you say with a smile.

It was only 25 minutes until your waters broke, you had gotten up from your bed to find Jamie when you felt a slight wetness, at first you thought you had maybe just peed a little bit, but then you realised it was much more than a little bit of wee. 

“Jamie!” You called out, holding on to the wall as you walked along, down to the living room. 

“Yes, love?” 

“I think my waters just broke, I got up to find you and-”

“Oh Christ, okay, where did it happen, darling?” He asks, his hand cupping your cheek. 

“By the bedroom, it wasn’t on the carpet! I’ll clean it up soon-” 

“Baby, don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it, okay? Why don’t you go and put a movie on for now? How far apart are the contractions?” 

“Uh, I don’t know, 20 minutes maybe? I haven’t really been keeping track of it.” You confess.

“That’s okay, just make sure you’re comfortable. Is everything packed in the hospital bags?” 

“Yeah, I just need the car seat for the baby, that’s with your mum though, isn’t it?” 

“Fuck, it is. Don’t worry, I’ll call her again, ask if she can drop it over.” 

“Why don’t you go over and get it?” 

“And leave you here by yourself? No way! I’m sure she won’t mind, I promise!” Jamie says before disappearing towards the bedroom. 

You get comfortable on the sofa- as directed by Jamie, and put on a random TV channel. However, you were too sleepy to even focus on what was going on. You looked up at the clock on the wall and saw that it was 2:30 am, surely you had time to take a nap before the contractions start to get worse.

“Fuck!” You shout out, sitting yourself up. After Jamie had cleaned up and put the hospital bags in his car, he had come and snuggled up next to you on the sofa, rubbing your belly and placing gentle kisses as you napped. 

“Contraction?” Asked Jamie, you nodded your head and he took his phone from the coffee table, “if the next one is five minutes apart we can leave, okay?” 

“Yes.” You grunted, the pain becoming overwhelming as tears fell from your eyes. 

“You’re doing so well, okay, love,” Jamie says, running his hand through your hair, “I know you can do this.”

“I can’t!” You shouted, “Jamie I’m so scared. I don’t think I can do it,” the contraction started to fade off now, leaving you breathless and sweaty, “I don’t think I’m ready to be a parent.”

“You can, darling,” he says, rubbing your back, “you’re going to be an amazing mummy! It’s going to be scary as hell for the first few months but we’ll get through it together, baby, okay? We’re together in this, we’ll always be. There’ll be things we need to learn and rules we’ll need to make but we’re going to get there, okay? I promise you, love, everything is going to be okay. You just have to trust me.” 

By now you were leaning your head on Jamie’s shoulder as you cried, in fear and pure love. You trusted him. You would trust him with your life. You would trust him with your child’s life. 

“I do,” you sobbed, “I’m just so scared!”

“Don’t be, sweetheart. I’m here. What are you scared of?”

“If anything goes wrong! I don’t want you to be alone, what if we don’t make it, me or the baby?”

You see Jamie’s heart visibly shatter through his eyes, he pulls you even closer to him- or as much as he can without hurting you. 

“That’s not going to happen, okay? Don’t think like that. You’re so strong, my love, I know you know it too. And,” you see him hesitate before continuing, “if anything does happen, then that will be fucking awful.” He chuckles, nervously. “But it won’t, we’re going to come home- whether it be tomorrow, a week- I don’t care how long, that doesn’t matter. What matters is that we’re all going to come home, happy and healthy as a family, okay, love?” 

You nod your head, before feeling the next contraction begin. Jamie checks the time again, and tells you they’re 7 minutes apart.

At 12:13pm, your daughter was born. 

You and Jamie finally decided, at 6 minutes between contractions, to get in the car and go to the hospital, seeing as it was quite a journey from where you lived. He called the hospital, then helped you in and made sure you were comfortable before driving off. 

Not long after arriving at the hospital you were taken to the labour ward and made to change into a hospital gown before the midwife arrived to examine you. 

Jamie stayed by your side the entire time, holding your hand, massaging your back, going through breathing exercises, doing anything and everything he could to help you. Little did he know, his presence in this moment meant more to you than anything in the world. 

When it was finally time to push, Jamie held your hand even tighter, almost as if he were to let go, then you would disappear. He told you what was happening, as your head was thrown back. Telling you how well you were doing, how the baby was so close to being here and then suddenly, she was born. 

The sound of your baby's cry let you know that she was out, Jamie was the first to tell you she was a beautiful girl as he cut the umbilical cord, a single tear rolling down his cheek. The moment your baby came into contact with your skin, every fear you had simply melted away as Jamie smiled down at you. 

“Our beautiful girl.”

when was the last time you cried? - this morning!! nothing 2 be concerned about i got woken up by the fire alarm (also nothing to be concerned about it just needs the battery replaced) and was so tired & upset i started crying, which happens. more often than i would like. hm. maybe i named myself after the wrong afton kid

do you have kids? - nope!! i do like interacting with them though but only like 3 max at a time JFJRJFNG

do you use sarcasm a lot? - irl yes, online only sparingly. & i make it very exaggerated not usually deadpanned or anything so people can Tell (which of course nobody needs except for Me but i digress)

what sports do you play/have played? - did soccer when i was a little kid (Hated It), was on a swim team for a while, and did marching band for the longest (which is my favorite and yes it counts as a sport and you cannot say it doesn't until you've been in marching band. cunt)

what's the first thing you notice about other people? - typically clothes and then hair! i have a relatively mild (but still pretty bad compared to ppl without it) case of face-blindness, and i CANNOT tell people apart by their faces at all unless they have smth like a bunch of facial piercings or a scar or smth Noticable so i tend to look at other things first.

where were you born? - arizona/usa. same town as my mom actually (despite her moving like 7 times in between her birth and mine)

what are your hobbies? - listen to music and pace around my room until i pass out. and painting, writing, drawing, various other arts n crafts, guitar, percussion when i have the chance (rn i only have a practice pad :|), and mobile games of heavily varying quality.

favourite subject in school? - by the material probably math! it is sometimes difficult for me to get a concept but once i do it's Easy. i also do have an advantage (parent has math degree and is good at explaining) but i try and make up for it by helping everyone else as much as i can jfjdndjf. by the Class def band/music class if that counts. both of my music teachers have been both very scary yet very nice to me and i loved their classes so so much and i extremely enjoy playing instruments with other people (when they behave)

dream job? - sorting pokemon cards in a comfortable chair as a day job with a 4 day workweek, being a freelance renowned fiction editor on my own time, with occasional music-related gigs (tutoring, repairing stuff, playing in concerts, etc). i give you no shit if i could do that for the rest of my life and get paid well enough to live on my own or with roommates i like, have a cat, and have enough time and energy to homecook a meal 3-4 nights a week i would be so happy. that's all i want in life. "oh you would get bored doing the same thing day in day out" no i wouldn't "how" autism.

I’ve been ass deep in it since the start of July and I am having the fucking time of my life over here. We got ridiculous campy macho shit, we got politics and themes directly related to the 20th century communist history I’m interested in atm, and Ocelot is there. It’s even got lesbians.

Haven’t watched any playthroughs yet but I have watched the “movies” on YouTube for 1 and 2, played V, started revengeance the other day (am having the fuckin’ time of my life with it), and am waiting for the master collection to drop so I can play through 3. The fixation is so real and so strong. All the themes and the characters and everything are just SO good.

As for the characters, I have a particularly strong reaction to big boss partially bc I’ve only played MGSV but also bc conceptually the militant cult leader thing is kinda an awesome character type when done well (like in this case) but also he’s definitely the hottest mgs character and the conflicting aspects are intense. However bc ocelot is my favourite character, his relationship w the boss mediates it and makes it more tolerable. Also Kaz went from being one of my least favourites to my favourites. Also I am still mad about Fortune’s death. Also the MGS2 soundtrack fucks SO hard. I have a lot of thoughts but am ill and having trouble articulating them.

nadia kingston’s birthday is december 21st

and it’s december 21st today !! (i did in fact finish cryptid falls on her birthday i thought it would be poetic and i still think that) So here are some of my favourite nadia kingston moments (she would be 68 today btw if she were real) this is gonna be a long post so beware !!

Cryptid Falls Era

My head aches. If I’m going to be a good ghost hunter then I need to stop hitting my head on things.

(Chapter one; Ghost I) This is literally in the first paragraph in the first book so it’s our first introduction to her 💀

I pull on my most comfortable sweater. “You want me dead. You want me to crash on Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year—”

“La, la, la, I don’t care. Get in the car.”

(Chapter eight; Christmas Blues) Edith and Nadia are so fun. Too bad they’re mentally unwell atm 😔

“Did you just say Hilda’s here? As in, the big boss?”

“Yeah?”

She falls back onto her bed, face shoved into her pillow. “Tell her I’m dead.”

I roll my eyes. “She can’t be that bad. She seems nice.”

“She’s an evil old lady and has like, one foot in the grave.”

“She looks fifty.”

“Beauty and evil go hand in hand. She’s an evil deceiver with spooky, youth-giving powers. Haven’t you ever seen a Disney movie?”

“No, I have not.” I push myself off the door frame. “I’m going to go get Andre. He’s better at this stuff than I am.”

She smiles as she wakes up, yawning. “You didn’t kill us.”

I sit on top of a rooftop, playing my guitar and fighting back the cold that comes with the light wind. A pile of hair sits in front of me, along with some scissors. There’s no mirror.

(Chapter 17; Grim Reaper) i cut my own hair without a mirror usually and me and nadia both needed a hair cut at the time of writing this

“See you can dance! You have good rhythm.” says Edith.

“I’m a musician, Edith. Of course I have rhythm.”

“Well then you’re already ahead of most people when it comes to dancing. And you’re good at it.”

“I’d still rather play the music than dance to it.”

She laughs. “Well that’s fine. But you should still dance with me.”

Sleepless Cities Era

I don’t appreciate the humour but the way his fingers barely touch the wound makes me ignore it. I stare at him, taking in his every feature. He has light freckles, barely noticeable from afar. A light scar is visible on his jaw line. He’s very pleasing to the eye.

“You don’t have to say anything. But I’m going to say things. Because I want the illusion of a conversation right now.”

The line stays silent.

“Have you ever gone to America? I know Basira and Andre used to live there but I’ve realised I’ve never asked you.”

I think I hear her inhale sharply. I don’t hear her exhale.

“I don't really know anything about the country. Just that people find fresh starts there.” I pause and take a breath. My voice is quieter than I want it to be. “In theory, at least. I reckon they guess life stories just from the accents.”

There’s shuffling on the other end and the sound of a light switch.

“I think—”

“Phone calls cost more overseas.”

“Do you even like him, Nadia?”

I think about it for a moment. Nikolai is loud, extroverted, and has too many friends for me to keep track of. He makes his parents pay for a school he doesn’t even attend and ignores their calls. His apartment is never quiet. His words are charming one minute and annoying the next. He’s the opposite of me and it doesn’t work between us. I don’t think like him at all.

“No,” I whisper. “No, I don’t think I do.”

“Then why America?”

“England makes me nauseous.”

“It didn’t used to.”

“Well it does now.”
