#though I will actually like to know who you ship Gene with the most

Been thinking about daring to try to get into vidding (but I have zero knowledge about video editing lol) and wondered if there are ship manifestos that are in fanvid-form, so to say. Am shocked that there are only six on AO3. Though I guess it may have to do with videos being taken down because of copyright stuff?
(One of them was by you by the way if I'm not mistaken, ha! And now I want to watch Veritas: The Quest. Your video got me interested.^^)
--
Haha. I was going to say!
Veritas is a fun dumb time. It makes me sad that they never released properly. (And yes, my love of baaaaaad "archaeology" canons full of magical woo and tomb raiding goes way back. Also my love of fake death and fake betrayal plots.)
AO3 is only moderately popular for fanvids, and mostly in a very specific community of people who send vids to the small-scale fancons—the sorts of people who founded OTW and who were vidding on Livejournal. (It won't be because of takedowns. The AO3 work would still be there, just with a dead embed.) That lack of popularity overall is part of why you don't see so many video manifestos, but I think it's more a terminology thing:
I think it's rare for vidders to call their vids "manifestos". I don't think of that one video as a vid that is a manifesto: I think of it as a vid I made to include in a manifesto. Instead, we tend to call them "pimp vids", but you don't tag with that because it's presumptuous. It's something you say retroactively about other people's vids or that you tell a vid beta you're aiming for. You don't get to decide if your vid successfully pimps people in any more than you get a say in whether you go viral, you know?
--
There's a weekly vidders' zoom run by DC Slash (one of the tiny slash cons), and we just had a week where we brought in vids that got us into fandoms. A lot of other people's were ancient, blurry VCR transfers because they've been at this a lot longer than I have, but I can show you some of the vids that have gotten me into fandoms:
Killa's Haven vid Soldier annoyed me so much. What is that one brief flash of a scene? Did that dude die? It's not that sad a vid though? What the hell? So I had to watch just to find out. (Yes, he died. But he got better. Because Haven.)
The fact that I know and like Killa didn't hurt, but it's not like I loved the vid itself: a lot of it was my sheer annoyance at that one shot.
Of course, then, I made my own Haven vid, Captain Kidd, that was supposed to be an angry deep dive into show lore and how the other sanctimonious, fake-moral but actually pretty useless characters were treating my blorbo. (This is a theme with me, it appears.) It was not even 1% supposed to be a pimp vid...
To date, this is by far my most successful pimp vid, luring a whole bunch of people into the show just in time for it to massively jump the shark. (Damn it.) I've never even seen the ending.
More recently, akiv's Beyond Evil vid I'm a Ruler made me fall hard for Beyond Evil. Imagine my shock when what looked like a relatively normal buddy cop series starts with one of them secretly investigating the other as a serial killer. It was so much more intense and fucked up than I realized! Yessss.
After bouncing hard off of DMBJ, it was this Youtube vid Hei Ye falling for the Thorny Flower that got me intrigued again. The tone is so obvious and the dynamic is so clear, which really helped me get interested in a franchise that's often pretty hard to follow plot-wise.
I admit I never actually watched canon, but this Mr. Queen vid by Mozzaphne made me go look up a plot summary so I could read all of the fic. Lots of youtube vidders overuse show dialogue and mix it horribly over songs, but this one was really well done and adds a lot to your understanding of the character dynamics.
I don't think my foray into Detroit: Become Human was entirely because of a single vid, but Figure 8 by Dirty Mind Gene definitely helped. I knew it was a video game with robots. Nobody fucking told me it was a Caves of Steel ripoff with a jaded cop getting his mojo back via getting to know his robot partner.
I of course then went and made one with all of the zillions of deaths in the game because I love that shit. This apparently also got at least one person into the fandom.
Another vid a different person mentioned pimping them into a fandom was Lola's Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty vid ME!
It's a fabulous vid, and it's a fantastic illustration of how the central (canon) ship is supposed to read. Sadly, my personal opinion of the show is that Tang Fan is a perpetual victim and piece of shit who puts his own shallow grasp of morality and his personal feelings over the greater good, often getting characters killed unnecessarily. (I hear this is largely due to some questionable adaptation choices where they swapped who's the hothead and who's the one cleaning up messes.)
I've noticed that fluffy bunnies who watch the show tend to think Tang Fan is ~nice~ because he spouts modern morality instead of a selfish little bitch because he refuses to face the reality of the setting he's in and find the best real world solution instead of holding out for an ideal he'll never attain and thus making everything ten times worse. It reminds me forcibly of tumblr wank where people see themselves as these great moral leaders but lack all grasp of nuance. Their sensitivity extends only to their own feelings.
Yes, Sleuth left me with a lot of rage...
How dare the writing pretend like Tang Fan is the moral arbiter of anything, when my own personal fave, whom half the cast thinks is a villain, is constantly cleaning up after him, trying to keep the body count low, trying to maintain order as everybody else flies out of control...
And then the show made it all better by tormenting Tang Fan in the iddiest way possible. Ohohoho. It's not just that he gets his face rubbed in his own inadequacy and inability to save people. It's the ridiculously over-the-top flashback to "You're my only friend" right in the middle of the death scene. Way to twist the knife!
I, of course, have made my own vid for this fandom, Tiny, Pretty & Angry, and it is absolutely a manifesto, just not a ship one. It's a manifesto about how Wang Zhi is not only the most competent, but also the actual moral center of everything and fuck all of y'all if you don't agree.
In fact, there's probably another reason we don't call them manifestos:
In the oldschool Media Fandom vidding traditions, most vids are video essays and manifestos, really. That's a lot of the point of the aesthetic: making an argument. Partly due to technological limitations and partly due to vidding being innovated by slashers who were constantly challenged about their ships, the pretty visual spectacle styles so common in AMVs and currently on Youtube were largely absent. Meta argument was everything. That's the default.
Here's another one of mine that's pretty explicitly a fuck you to how most people in Untamed fandom see Wen Ning.

Rarepair Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @cindle-writes!
Tagging: @writcraft, @perverse-idyll, @lizzy0305, @tackytigerfic, @sitp-recs, @consistentsquash, @mxlfoydraco, @wolfpants, @crazybutgood, @siriusly-sapphic, @stonedregulus, @broomsticks, @phoebe-delia, @nv-md, @ashesandhackles, @teacup-tai, @billsfangearring, @snapesnailtape, @fangqueen, @charlotterhea, and uhhh...anyone else who wants to play? And no pressure to the zillion people I tagged. It's just for funsies and I'm curious about what folks like! 😄
Rules: List the top rarepairs that you like outside of your OTP, and why you ship it! (Criteria for what makes a rarepair is up to your own discretion.)
My OTP is Snarry and I'm pretty sure most ships I like outside of Snarry are rarepairs haha! Let's seeeee...🤔
Harry/Scorpius
As I like to say: Snarry is my husband, and Scarry is the hot poolboy. I am a devoted wife, I swear, but sometimes...Well, sometimes a gal fantasizes about the poolboy, what can I say? 🤷‍♀️ I often struggle shipping Harry or Severus with other people, but Scarry feels less like a struggle and more like temptation. And while I find Young Severus ships easier to read (as I can imagine all roads lead to Snarry), I suppose Scarry can be enjoyed in the terrible universe in which Harry's actual soulmate was gone. (Not me vehemently defending myself for my guilty pleasure ship, noooo 😂)
Anyway, all that to say, I often wondered why I shipped Scarry myself. Why it's so much easier for me to enjoy than other Harry ships. Sure, it has the age gap thing going for it. And "son's best friend" going for it. And "son of my childhood rival" thing. Okay so yeah maybe it does make sense. 😂 What it lacks (in my imaginings) is all the fire I generally am drawn to, but ah well. It has enough else going in its favor. And really, what I'm only just now recognizing is that this sort of came together for me the same way Snarry did: my great love of the characters separately. I read the Cursed Child and fell in love with sweet cinnamon roll Scorpius. Which turned into...me being into Scarry!
Of course in my brain it happens one of two very specific ways 😂 Either Severus is...not there. For reasons. And Harry moves on with Scorpius one day. OR it's a one sided crush on Scorpius' end, which I am also hecka into. Who doesn't like a bit of unrequited love?? (At least, when their OTP isn't suffering for it.)
Draco/Sirius
I'M OBSESSED. WHY IS THERE NOT MORE OF THIS SHIP OUT THERE???? I CRY. Ahem. Anyway.
It's the age gap. It's the cousin incest. It's the "hooking up with my rival's godfather." It's the Gryffindor vs Slytherin of it. It's the Order and Death Eater of it. Also...they're both really pretty. 🤷‍♀️ Those good good Black genes, you know?
Also I just feel like...it can work. One of those things that might start off as sex and becomes really serious even though they both refuse to admit it for the longest time?
Sirius likes a challenge, I think, and Draco can provide one. And there's much more depth to Draco than I think Sirius might initially give him credit for. I see him as being a bit vain and a bit proud, but also insecure and vulnerable. He's sassy and bratty, and spoiled, but also with a lot of hurt and a lot of problems he himself might not be fully aware of. It's the complications and contradictions the Black family knows so well, and Sirius can understand Draco at that level better than most people, but also isn't so tied to family tradition that he can help pull Draco away from it. Sirius can shake up Draco's world a bit. Show him fun, silly things like bars and motorcycles and crappy Muggle flats. But also introduce him to freedom, and letting loose, and finding himself outside of that "Malfoy heir" identity, the way Sirius ran away from his "Black heir" identity.
I don't think Draco will pull away as much as Sirius did, and Sirius will understand enough to meet Draco where he is. And he knows the world Draco comes from enough to integrate into it when he needs to. And I think they'll find a lot of understanding and acceptance together, and learn a lot together, and explore a lot together, and be really chaotic and intense and messy together, and find so much joy and contentment together.
I have many Drarius feelings and I really need to write more of them one day.
Snape/Filch
Delphi sure SOLD me on this one, geez Louise. This is one of those I don't think is forever, but is meaningful and impactful to both parties. (It's gotta end Snarry, y'know? 👀) Love the age gap. And I love it best when it's student/caretaker. Maybe New Professor/caretaker, even. I love the idea of these two outcasts coming together and finding comfort together, and being able to appreciate each other in ways other people don't.
They both have their bitterness, and their sense of cruelty. They're both overlooked and unappreciated. Filch as the Squib looking after a magical castle full of magical people. The butt of many jokes. And Severus, the half-blood, the poor kid, the ugly kid. From a rough background, and surrounded by peers of much better circumstance. Targeted by the Marauders (who cause Filch enough trouble, too.)
It's fascinating to me, to see Filch, who doesn't seem to like much of anyone, being drawn to Snape. Sort of feeling a kindred spirit in some ways. A sense of camaraderie in the way Snape is seen, and treated, by others. Severus' broodiness and bitterness. But mostly sparked by some stunt pulled by the Marauders.
And Filch being the one to see how amazing Severus is. How intelligent and skilled, but looked over in favor of more handsome and charming and well-connected students. And I can see him being a bit torn between smug pride over how similar they are, and sharing that feeling of "yeah people don't see what I'm capable of, either" and then part of him growing to really care for Severus and wanting better for him and wanting others to actually see Severus the way Filch does. And Severus appreciating that, and feeling seen and safe with someone, at least to the extent that he can feel those things. (Wary as he is.) And really enjoying the affection he gets, and pleasure from their physical relationship. And maybe learning at least some small sense of self-worth and confidence in his own physicality.
One day I'm going to write the Snilch-turned-Snarry of my dreams and it's gonna be great, and in the meantime, a gal can dream.
Ginny/Gwenog
LISTEN. 2 lady athletes being hot together? Why not?? Of course with Gwenog being barely more than a mention, a lot of this is built on headcanon for her, but like...
Quidditch hero Gwenog. I like to headcanon her as a Slytherin (primarily due to a Snegurochka fic.) She's a Slug Club alum. She's a famous athlete. So I like to imagine her as a bit arrogant, and sure of herself. And maybe there initially being a "don't meet your heroes" moment between Gwenog and Ginny wherein Ginny very quickly loses her admiration of Gwenog because they meet at the wrong time (imagine they meet at some Slughorn event, haha.) But as Ginny loses interest in Gwenog, Gwenog's interest in Ginny is sparked.
Then one day they meet on the pitch, either as teammates or rivals. Either could be fun! And sort of coming together over their love of the sport and Ginny realizing there's more to Gwenog than first impression led her to believe. Also: there's at least some sorta age gap there, which you KNOW I love!
Also I love the idea of tabloids painting Ginny some type of way when she moves from a high profile relationship with Harry Potter: hero to a high profile relationship with Gwenog Jones: celebrity athlete. And maybe unfairly getting a reputation as a fame whore. And Ginny being super bitter about it because they don't understand!!!!
Anyway basically there's a lot of fun to be had.
Also I have weirdly specific feelings about tall Ginny. Just this tall pretty redhead athlete with short!Harry, and then moving onto her shorter butch girlfriend Gwen. Idk but really tall and more femme Ginny just does it for me. Like...she's like "I have long hair and I can pull off pretty dresses, but also I have the Bat Bogey Hex mastered, and I'll kick your ass on the pitch" and I respect that.
Hermione/Lavender
My newest obsession weirdly??? Even though I've read hardly any fics for it and there's no age gap to be seen. 🤨 Love me some Hermione/Fleur you know (my favorite Hermione ship still), and Hermione/Minerva and Hermione/Narcissa, but lately Hermione/Lavender is doing it for me on an almost opposites attract level?
This gives me a big impression of two people with the wrong idea of each other and having to face their own biases once they start to connect on some level. And then both being Ron's exes is hilarious. Bonus points for that. And imagine them as a longterm couple and they laugh years later over it. "Remember how we both dated the same guy? And we were jealous of each other? And now we're madly in love? Haha, life is funny."
Like, yeah, Hermione can be a bit bossy and fussy, and opinionated and judgmental in her own way. A bit self-righteous. Lavender isn't a very academic sort of person, but she's not dumb, and she's very brave. I like the idea of Lavender finding respect and admiration for Hermione only once she moves past Hermione being "very smart." And even Hermione sees so much of her value tied to her intelligence, and Lavender finding value literally everywhere else. How loyal Hermione is, how passionate she is, her love of travel and culture, etc.
And Hermione having to look past Lavender's "silliness" and face just how judgmental she is, and having to come to grips with yeah Lavender likes to gossip, and dress up, and she's very romantic, and she's interested in Divination, but there's also more to her than that. And that there is still value in things Lavender enjoys even if Hermione doesn't care for them herself, or even "believe" in them. And Hermione finding value in Lavender beyond how pretty she is, or how playful (especially postwar when Lavender maybe deals with heavy scarring and trauma and maybe heavy blows to her self-esteem.) And maybe being seen and recognized for better qualities even she maybe didn't think of herself as having, such as being quite brave and quite strong.
I dunno I just really want to explore them and all of the potential gives me many feelings.

did you draw crowhawk hypokits yet? o3o
When you sent this I hadn’t but since I should’ve by this point-
Tumblr media
I made one!
This is Falconflight, first born son of Hawkfrost and Crowfeather (I might make more). More info on his story under the cut
So in this relatively feel-good au, Hawkfrost decides instead of just a quick grift to just. Commit to moving to WindClan during the conflict, while originally it’s for the plan he and mudclaw have brewing, eventually things settle down before anyone can die and mudclaw remains deputy while Onestar eases into leadership a bit better. Hawk and Crow have known eachother before this and have had a thing for each other so not long after hawkfrost has Falconkit, he’s a single kit since they’re still like young adults and he was definitely conceived out of excitement that they could have kits without severe judgement (at least not as severe as a “full fledged” halfclan kit). Falconkit is raised well by his fathers, oddly enough, between two obnoxious idiots he becomes weirdly well adjusted and…very sweet? Despite his tall, dark intimidating looks, Falconflight is a big softy, which no one expected out of hawkfrost and crowfeathers union, and he’s always been notably soft spoken compared to his parents. Falconkit becomes a paw around Breezekits birth, which still happens, but he’s not Crowfeather’s son since him and Nightcloud don’t have a reason to get together, instead Nightcloud has kits with an unknown source (insert your ship here). Hawkfrost and Nightcloud are actually decently good friends so when the litter is unfortunately born mostly stillborn, hawkfrost lends his support and breezekit and Nightcloud become honorary family to them, with breezekit and falconpaw growing up close. Breezepelts later rebellion is still fueled by “daddy” issues, but the issue is he doesn’t know who that is even.
In his more interpersonal plot, Falconflight had experienced strange dreams as a kit, often of a shadowy woodland where a dark tabby would step out from the undergrowth and speak to him. Hawkfrost would often stay awake to guard his son while he slept, waking him from the nightmares when he felt him stir. The dreams would fade before apprenticeship, and Falconflight carries little to no memories of them ever occurring. His mentor was mudclaw, and yet again somehow none of that rubbed off on him. He’s known in his adulthood as a heartthrob, even openly spoken of outside of WindClan, but he remains ambiguous about his love life. He’s just oddly very good and kind and there is no catch, I mean it legit he’s just. A soft man. That being said, he’s extremely intimidating having inherited a very distinct set of traits from his dads, mainly being Crowfeather’s distinct facial shapes (very oriental cat breed esc) and Tigerstars genes which made him a bit more muscular than most WindClanners, something that must’ve skipped over hawkfrost somehow. He’s inherited some personality traits from his fathers even though he is simply too kind to be from either of them, for example, he makes terrible jokes and puns, but unlike hawkfrost he actually thinks it’s very funny. They enjoy torturing Crowfeather. We still don’t know what he got from Crowfeather, and maybe he lucked out there.
Bonus; if he were to have a voice it’d be Jeremy Irons, just to add to the whiplash that is his personality.

Strange New Worlds: A Broken Circle
SPOILERS BELOW
I can only enjoy this show if I pretend it’s completely disconnected from TOS so that’s what I’m going to try to do this season
Truly and honestly Spock and Chapel together repulses me. I physically couldn’t watch the scene where he’s trying to revive her on the transporter pad.
I am coming around on Chapel as an individual. I like the back story with her and M’benga. I think it’s sweet that they kinda stuck together after serving in the war together. And their final words to each other before jumping out the airlock made me tear up, no matter how mindblowingly stupid the concept of that scene was.
I like that Spock is developing his mutinous charms but hate that he was given command and pulled it off so early.
Love La’an and Ortegas and enjoyed whatever they were doing.
Uhura is always a stand out to me. Really loved seeing her stand up for her station. A little peeved at the rapidity that she can translate seemingly any language but Celia is so charming that I don’t really care
I think this might be controversial but I LOVE the new Chief Engineer! I don’t know anything about that species but I’m excited to see more of her and I just love that actress and her goofy voice. I do HATE that there’s more Spock family lore ahead…I do want to learn more about Amanda Grayson but I would prefer like a one off comic or Short Trek that is completely disconnected from any main plotline.
M’Benga is another standout to me this episode. The pain from the war is really evident.
However, THE GREEN FIGHT JUICE?? Please. If they ever put something so stupid on my screen again I’m canceling my Paramount+ subscription. At first j thought it was more gene manipulation and that they were disguising themselves as Klingons. As eye roll inducing as that may have been I think that would have been so much better and more in line with the theme of TOS and with established lot of SNW. Why introduce that in the pilot and with Chapel especially if it’s never used again?? The whole fight sequence was so stupid.
Honestly glad that Pike was MIA the whole episode. I really can’t stand him. And why doesn’t he open his mouth all the way!! He looks like the person who controls a marionette doll. Like you know it’s him speaking but he’s not moving his mouth. Interested to see who the lawyer he’s chasing after is. If it’s Areel Shaw I’m gonna be pretty pissed. Actually if it’s any legacy character I will be annoyed.
Pretty over the Badmiral stuff.
I HATE SNW GORN. The yell I let out when the Gorn ship detected came on screen…surprised my neighbors didn’t call a wellness check. I’ve posted about this before but SNW Gorn are the anthesis of Star Trek.
To be immediately followed with a memorial to Nichelle Nichols felt a bit cruel. That did make me tear up though.
Overall, not a bad episode entirely. I had fun watching most of it even though I did audibly groan multiple times. Feels mostly like a silly space adventure show and not specifically Star Trek. Premise was a bit too outlandish for me especially because they face absolutly no consequences.
Also have to pretend that this Spock is not my Spock to keep myself from going insane.

Hmm. So.
How the fuck did they manage to create the RotF sparklings without the Allspark shards?
So, let's think of our options. Sexual reproduction, (which Hasbro continuously denounces), cloning (oooh! I get to talk about the different kinds of cloning!), budding in a way, protoforms that were stashed away on the Fallen's ship in stasis, maybe a previously unknown form of asexual reproduction!
Now, logically speaking, we know that sexual interfacing is probably not canon. Probably, perhaps. Bayverse is the continuity that makes the second most amount of implicating jokes. The first being Jro's work naturally. Anyways. We're temporarily going to forget about Occam's razor. Yes, sadly in bayverse Cybertronians experiencing sexual attraction is canon thanks to you wheelie you little heterochromic shit. But little known fact sexual attraction doesn't mean sexual reproduction, as demonstrated by the lesbian lizards. For all we know, Wheelie could've been ah getting off purely on the psychological aspect alone.
So, there are multiple forms of cloning actually. There's the typical cloning you might be thinking of, which is essentially mitosis but complex lifeforms. Well, errors can occur which allows unicellular organisms to mutate a little bit as a treat and mutation means adapting and evolution. Perhaps the terms eggs and hatchlings is a bit of a misnomer in this case?
There's reproductive cloning, where the genetic material of one creature's somatic cells (body cells) are put into the egg cell of another creature, that zygote is transplanted into a surrogate animal where it's gestated like average, and bing bam boom when it's born there's an almost perfect copy of the original! And, this method means the resulting clone technically has three parents! Though, some catches do occur here. All three individuals involved kinda have to be female, it needs cells, and well gametes have to be involved which are a major part of sexual reproduction. That's why you'll see it in species that used to reproduce sexually, or species that use asexual and sexual reproduction.
There's genetic cloning, which we have precedent for in canon considering Shockwave's predacons,, bayverse's introduction of Galvatron, the majority of the protoform stuff, and tbh tbh the scanning of altmodes in a way. The most popular example of such would be you guessed it Jurassic park, which as someone who plans to major in biology is Highly inaccurate to how cloning, DNA, and dinosaurs work. Less well known. This is how viruses work. The problems we run into is our favorite paradox, which came first the chicken or the egg. "Where did the first set of genes come from???" Exactly. You could argue that Cybertronians are technically derived from an altered genome of a species that sexually reproduced that Quintessa found, artificially creating a biologically asexual race. The catches? It's damn hard to do this kind of reproduction without a container for said genetic material. We see this with the human scientists using Megayron's CNA as a building guideline, and with the protoforms. Iicr, in bayverse we see that the autobots were essentially visually the same before scanning altmodes. This may very well be are most canonically compliant answer right here actually. But... again, this does not explain them being called eggs and doesn't explain where protoforms come from at all. You could say "But Riot, the protoforms are made of Senti Metallico (however you spell that lol) " and my answer is what technically is that and where does that come from? The movies also refer to it as Cybertronium which??? Is considered an element but it's clearly somewhat alive but anyways we get no answers.
Unknown form of asexual reproduction is goddamn unknown, making this category purely speculative. Perhaps as I've mentioned the terms eggs and hatchlings, and are glyphs that didn't have an Earth equivalent so the translators chose the next best options. Maybe cyberforming material is on its own self replicating, which raises questions of its own. Mayve it's extradimensional supernatural bullshit which i don't like this answer as it's equivalent to "suspend your disbelief' wHich I don't like i like answers.

So… about episodes 7 and then 8:
As I’ve said before, I really don’t like Rhaenyra & Daemon. It’s not even really the incest thing (though it is weird that instead of Rhaenyra saying I need you Daemon” she chose to say “I need you Uncle”), but more I don’t see the chemistry, and well… it’s Daemon. (I also wasn’t surprised to hear Daemon say he didn’t love Laena, but Rhaenyra saying that Harwin was ok bc she trusted him???? - so, that also pissed me off).
Also the fact that their love started bc he tried to take advantage of her when she was really young for the sole purpose of destroying her and making him King… Now, I DO INDEED KNOW that they are in love, you can see it on their faces, but I think the beginning of it is something that’s putting me off the ship. He only tried to have sex w/ her in 1x04 to try and force Viserys’ hand to have him marry Rhaenyra so he could become King Consort - and anyone who says otherwise is lying. And since then, most of what we’ve seen when it comes to romantic love has been on Rhaenyra’s side, not really Daemon’s. Now, that did change a bit in 1x07, but still…
And then WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THE IDEA OF MARRIAGE AND THEN IMMEDIATELY GETTING MARRIED?!?!?! I get that they’re saying “fuck it” to the rumors and speculation, but really getting married like the next day??? I get that they did set Laenor free, and they truly are just saying “fuck it” to the rumors and speculation, but Jacarys and Lucerys just lost their dad.
^^^Also that Rhaenyra has a lot of issues and problems resulting from everyone leaving and abandoning her (most notably Alicent and Daemon), and though here Daemon is, saying he won’t leave her even though he has abandoned her the last 2 times she’s seen him, do you know who else hasn’t abandoned Rhaenyra? Laenor. He might not have been the best husband, like he admitted, but he was still the one who was by her side when she needed him to be. And I get, Laenor isn’t ambitious, so he won’t be a great husband if your thirsting to take over the world, but still!!! I loved Laenor!!!
***Also, for everyone going “oh, we’ll look at Rhaenyra’s kids, they’re obviously Bastards” - like there are hundreds of genes that go into skin color/hair color. So… do they look like they’re 1/4 black? No, but even if Laenor was their dad, they could’ve come out of the womb lighter or darker than anyone else in the family. I get that the allegations are stronger since all three boys came out as looking very fair and all are brunette, but still…
******And another side note: I have seen Daemyra shippers go through the 1x07 sex scene/their scenes together, and also hearing what Emma and the show runners said in the “Inside the Episode”, so I do get it, and I’m not hating on it, it’s just not my cup of tea.

Wanted to share my goofy ah crossover oc x canon ship today because why not!!
excuse the slightly older art I don't have the energy or time to draw at the moment Characters: Chere Altridge [OC], Byakuya Togami Ship Name: Chergami Going to keep this mainly to fluff! But there will be mentions of both SA and extremely mild spicy talk within, so tread with caution if need be. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
So I actually have one of those "Get to Know My Ship in 5 Minutes" things I made awhile back but never posted wehhhhhh- but before that I want to share some general stuff. I haven't posted too too much of my character's backstories and lore here just yet so I probably won't go too too deep into what I have planned for these two (I actually have a whole sheet for Chere but it hasn't been updated in awhile!) Lore Related Stuff: The continuity in which Chere and Byakuya are romantically involved is entirely an AU of both plotlines respectively. This AU also crosses over both my Final Fantasy continuity and Danganronpa (obviously.) In Chere's story, Byakuya takes the place of a different character that Chere develops a relationship with (to be fair - said character is based off of him as well and pretty much exists because I like the idea of Chere being able to heal through a relationship very very much! Being able to heal without a partner is all part of my other character Zephyr's plotline.) I write Byakuya in the non-despair setting, and having just recently graduated college. During his college years, he's become significantly more mellow behind closed doors, but has to keep the rich asshole mask on in public. He's getting ready to inherit the big family business, and he's under extreme pressure from his elderly father to start producing heirs. Most of the time, he's not interested in the women being placed in his bedroom by their parents hoping their daughter will get to bear a Togami child, and will either pay her to leave and not say a word. At first, he'd indulge his suitors (safely of course) but quickly learned he wasn't enjoying having one night stands with rich girls who just want to get laid and bear the child of someone with status. Byakuya isn't opposed to being in a relationship, he just wishes he could be in one with someone who isn't following him for his money and he wants a strong partner who can hold their own.
So, How Did These Two Even Meet!? Byakuya and his father attended a high end Chocobo Racing event in Chere's home country (Grimore.) Chocobo Racing is seen as an exotic sport to those who are outside of Grimore since the birds only have a population within the country boarders. Chere and Byakuya are around the same age, Chere has some sort of status due to her respect as a high ranking Chocobo Jockey (though far lower than anything the family would settle for.) His father sees this as an opportunity to try and introduce magic-bearing Grimorian genes into the Togami family, and with the help of some of the upper management of the event a "date" was planned between the two without either party knowing. The plan was to tell both of them that the other was interested in meeting and potentially hooking up. Chere wasn't on board, but decided she'd humor her suitor and refuse him as soon as she was bought to the bedroom. Byakuya had started preparing to pay another greed driven woman to stay out of his room. When the time came, neither party cooperated. Chere cursed him out for trying to court her, and Byakuya angrily declared he'd never settle for someone that low in society. They had a pretty viscous argument, but things came to a standstill when the two reached a mutual "Oh, you actually didn't want to be here either. We were tricked." Apologies were dished out (though Byakuya's wasn't very concrete, he's Byakuya after all. Man can't apologize to save his life but boy will he learn!) and the rest of the time spent together was fairly pleasant albeit awkward because of how they had just been fighting. They left on mutual terms, but didn't intend on hanging out anytime soon because of how terribly things had begun. Fate would have other plans, however, as Byakuya would continue running into Chere throughout the duration of the event. Between playing pool in the venue's game hall, jockey meet and greets, and corporate leisure events the jockeys had been invited to, they tended to gravitate toward one another just because it had been a familiar face. Through this, they learned more and more about one another, how the other felt about the world, and general, non trauma related talks of each other's backgrounds. By the time the event had ended, they had become good friends. Byakuya even bet on Chere in her headline race and won a huge sum of money after she won!
Well, When Did They Hook Up Then? Things really began to snowball after the event, when they had to split ways and were countries apart. They stayed in contact, both having very easy ways to see the other (Zephyr makes a pretty good taxi in pegasus form and Byakuya has his rich boy means of getting to Grimore.) They realize they miss the other person and have a hard time accepting their feelings towards one another. Byakuya, still clouded by his status and upbringing is mortified of the consequences of breaking the family tradition and having a partner rather than sleeping around. Chere's discomfort with her feelings is rooted in her abuse, she doesn't want to put faith in someone despite trusting them greatly because, at least in her mind, there's still a chance she could be hurt again. She decides to be strong and confess to him, which was against her better judgement, only to find out Byakuya had also fallen for her and was having the same amount of difficulty accepting his feelings.
What's Their Relationship Like? Very much a learning experience for both parties, but in the best possible way. Chere begins to grow comfortable around someone for the first time and learns that she can trust other people with her feelings. Byakuya learns how to care for someone other than himself and that he isn't bound by the path preset for him by his family. They have their tender moments where they learn what each other likes and dislikes, and have moments where they must put their familiarity aside to truly understand one another. Byakuya also gets to experience the hardships of falling for a magical girl and that her world is very, very different from his. Many people ask Byakuya how he ended up becoming the way he was, and many people ask Chere how she puts up with someone with that much status. Both always answer with "To love is to be changed." Over time, they learn they have far more in common than they thought and it just brings them closer. Later in life, they do end up marrying and having a child on their own terms. This pisses Byakuya's father off to no end, but that's a story for another day-
Alright, Just Post The Damn Chart! There's TONS of more lore I have for these two but as I mentioned a lot of it is based on Chere's lore which I haven't really posted about hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I've also started taking certain things (hint hint) from project raincode and working it into how their relationship functions... >:) But for now, here's this thing. I made it awhile ago when the post was going around but then forgot to post it whOOPS.

Hope ya enjoyed watching me yell about this!!! Maybe I'll post more sometime weheheheheh

i always thought zuko stans were annoying but the more i explore this fandom, the more i see how the most insufferable people are actually the azula stans and aang stans - especially the ones that hate zuko.
the user leg-grestrade is this major aang and kataang stan who is so aggressive and rude, even towards other zuko haters. if you've ever interacted with them you would know they're a huge asshole. i don't like the user zuko-always-lies for his annoying azula stanning behavior but leg-grestrade attacked him for no reason. i can't believe we have this kataang stanning woman pushing 30 years old and still acting like this.
i used to be neutral towards kataang and i didn't care for aang, but seeing these types of really hostile kataang shipping aang stans make me hate aang and kataang. everyday they cry about aang haters being mean to them even though they're all huge assholes themselves. gene yang said he liked the zutara ship ONE time and they've been completely awful to him ever since. yang wrote in one of his journal entries for his site how he was getting hatemail from kataang shippers on a daily basis. they blame all the issues on the comics on him even though michael dante dimartino is ultimately the one who provides the outline and approves of the story. i guess for them its easier to hate on yang than it is on bryke since a lot of them worship bryke for giving them kataang. i always noticed a lot of kataangers tend to think of bryke as geniuses and avoid criticizing them.
as for azula stans, honestly, they seem to live in some other dimension of idiocy. they try to brush away the fact that azula tortured suki in prison by bringing up how "azula would never do something like that" and they will write meta about how suki is actually a shallow character so her torture doesn't matter. and they will go on and on about how zuko and iroh are actually evil.

And another ship kid for @annettesoleil
Satori/Miasma
Tumblr media
"Oh wow! Cream got a half-sister so fast."
This time we're meeting Morphia Melancholy/Komeiji Morphia. A doll-satori. ... quarter doll? I'm actually not quite sure how much Miasma's doll traits manifest (fool). Anyways just like Medicine & Miasma I thought it would be nice to follow their general naming theme. Medical related. Starts with an M followed by the next vowel, so MO-. ... I may have spotted a pattern where it truly didn't exist but I liked it. Anyways Morphia is an archaic name for Morphine but also just kinda sounds like a cute name.
Miasma is short and sweet, Satori is ... short. So I needed a faceclaim to fit that. Preferably with green hair like Miasma (Yuuka genes strong). So of course I had to go with L'arachel. (I retconned the previous FC as I felt they may not fit quite right)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like Grandma Yuuka and momma Miasma, Morphia is a little bundle of far more strength than you would expect her to have. Though that's not her actual ability. Just like Yuuka Morphia has an ability that works with plants. Morphia has the ability to manipulate fruits. Making them grow far faster and riper than a normal fruit would.
Morphia and her half-sister Cream get along quite well. Though, as Cream's profile mentions, there's quite a bit of responsibility thrust on Cream's shoulders. That's much less so on Morphia, who was born second. Morphia's got the more carefree life. Given all the care, gifts, and affection that Satori tends to dump onto her kids but without the whole "you must learn to run the Underground" thing.
Add in the fact that Morphia's extended family tree is several really powerful folks. With two mansions between them. Plus counting the other half-sisters she's, like, the 5th kid in the family so no responsibilities on the other side either. Yeah she's kind of been dancing through life in a position a bit like Koishi but, ya know, with a functioning ego. Still most of her time not at home is spent wandering Gensokyo instead of carrying out duties.
Morphia is a sweet girl that does try to aid those she meets, particularly strangers, buuuuuuuuuut Morphia def has a mischievous side. Not quite at the level of Tewi's pranks but her goal is to have fun and a bit of trickery like a sudden surprise or tying someone's shoes together can be fun. Though you've got just as much chance to get a nice helping of sweet tasting fruits from her. Actually that's another thing. Morphia really likes sweets. Whether it's candy or sugary fruits, they're an easy way to get her on your side.
She loves all of the family, and gets on well with Cream due to their close age, but her favorite sibling is Serene. Though she has a tendency to try to encourage Serene to be just a little more wicked. Not bad, of course, but surely Serene could stand to play some jokes on people too.
Here's a picrew I did that I really liked. Look! She's even wearing Lydia's(tm) iconic hat(tm)
Tumblr media
I tried to get it to give her doll joints but it just gave her a doll instead. Wait. I actually like that idea. That's her doll partner she got from Medicine. El-san.

So, its January 6th. It was today. The worst ion storm in recent history, the one that has me stuck here, brought along something I'd been dreading.
It brought me a mirror. It brought me a baby.
What’s worse is that he isn’t mine, or remotely related to me. He’s just the son of some stuffy guy from House Surak and his human teacher wife.
But from what I’ve managed to hear in this awful signal, he’s fine. His name is Spock, and the humans are placing bets on who he looks like the most. I have a hunch it’s his mother—even though the Vulcans won’t admit it.
I’m stuck in a house with barely any signal, almost a week late for opening lectures back on Earth, and what do I do? Think about things that don’t pertain to me.
Alright, they may. A little—a lot.
I grew up on Earth, with parents who didn’t even know I existed, with a cobbled-together family that sort of guessed their way into making me a good person. I chose Vulcan teachings as they came—because, come on, they didn’t kill each other, so something in those bowl cuts clicked!
Spock? This little guy? I’m not too sure what’s gonna become of him. He was born on the stiffer of the two planets—genes all mapped out so he’d be fine, atmosphere, customs, and psychic skills around him honed so he’d be just so.
Tailored so he wouldn’t. . .end up being another me.
And I usually don’t get thinking about the part of me that’s a screwed over science experiment used for shock value, but I think that now that there’s two hybrids in this universe, I have to ask myself, “Did I like being found?”
Did I like being lucky enough to have the perfect set of friends, the most attentive set of parents?
Living like an alien isn’t really an option when you luck out of being caught by your makers multiple times. I wonder how alien Spock’s going to be.
I wonder if he’s ever going to be worried over by those who love him. I wonder if there’s always going to be that side of him that knows he’s not perfect. I wonder if he’s ever going to ask stupid questions about a planet he’s never seen.
I wonder which of us has the better heritage—if what we both have can be called a heritage at all.
Gosh, spanning two worlds with your thoughts hurts about as much as an actual ship trip between them—
[END OF ENTRY]
An excerpt from Liz’s diary on the birth of Spock—with an experimental portrait of her split races as a companion piece.

Self Ship intro to Grulfe (Gregory x Wulfe, Gregory Horror Show) and Scudwulf (Scudworth x Wulfington, Clone High) !! They’re my main two ships so it’s important to me that everyone reads abt them also I spent a lot of time on this. Original form by @/libbys-shipping
Under the read more!
* Tell us about the S/I and F/O(s) you’re discussing! Name, source, job (if it applies), personality, or other information you think is necessary!
I’m going to be doing this for my two main ships - Scudwulf(Me x Scudworth Clone High) and Grulfe (Me x Gregory GHS)
Scudwulf - Scudworth is the principal of Clone High and Wulfington is his beloved that handles all the paperwork that Scuds does not want to do. Which is a lot. They are a very classic sitcom married couple except they actually love each other. Wulfington is very mundane and doesn’t really get involved in Scudworth’s antics but is always there to comfort him at the end of the day!
Grulfe - Gregory is the owner of Gregory House which may or may not be purgatory or something. Wulfe is his beloved who loves to paint and cause mischief. Wulfe basically takes the role of uncle to all the kids in the house- he loves to run groups for them so they can have fun. Gregory would do anything to protect Wulfe and make sure Wulfe knows he’s the most important person in Gregory’s life and makes waking up in the morning worth it.
* How did your S/I and F/O(s) first meet? Did they know of each others’ existence beforehand?
Scudwulf - Well in summary, Wulfington was part of a gene splice experiment and grew up in a government compound- and ended up working there as secretary. So he met Scuds when Scuds started working there on the Clone project! Wulfington had to work with him a lot to log data and fell for him pretty quick. I do think at first Scuds was just like “Hmm if anything goes wrong I COULD use him as a scapegoat..I should keep him around.” and that quickly turned into “Wow I love him so much.”
Grulfe - Wulfe, like everyone else, moved into the house. He struggles a lot with PTSD due to his dad and his anxiety. He was very shy when he first moved in and didn’t talk much, though like any other new guest Gregory was like “Im going to do everything in my power to bother him.” but Wulfe didn’t really...react. So Gregory just started talking to him normally and found out Wulfe is very sweet...I think Wulfe did fall for him fast but Gregory did...but didn’t know for a while. I think as Wulfe started coming out of his shell more, Gregory wanted to be around him more and more.
* How did they behave in the beginning of they relationship? What did they think of each other? What do they think of each other now, & how do they currently behave?
Scudwulf - TBH Scudworth was actually very nervous when they actually started dating but covered that up with being overconfident. Wulfington was very awkward, not entirely knowing what to do in a relationship...Honestly Scuds didn’t really either. The only person he had Ever dated was Mr B(Who he is still dating, both Mr B and Wulfington are dating Scuds!) who is a lot different than Wulfington. I think though their confession was abrupt, after that they took it kind of slow bcuz neither of them were super comfy with PDA or emotional stuff. But now? Opposite. They are just so totally in love. Wulfington cooks for him every morning and kisses him and Scudworth loves having a big fluffy boyfriend who can hold him. I think they think about each other a lot, all day every day.
Grulfe - I think Gregory kind of just expected this to be like any other relationship he had- pretty short-lasting but fun. I think the point he realized this was different was when he saw how Wulfe was getting more comfortable around him, and even opened up about his trauma. I think Gregory relates a *lot* to it and he found himself immediately wanting to protect Wulfe from anything like that happening ever again. Wulfe also felt safe around him. I think now, Wulfe is showing his Mischievous side now that he knows all the guests, and Gregory is glad! Even if Wulfe seems to be encouraging James to torment Gregory…you know how it is. Gregory and Wulfe are very PDA heavy- Wulfe is also the only reason Gregory has ever stood up to his mom. He cares about Wulfe so much.
* Were there any huge turning points that changed how your S/I or F/O(s) saw each other, or was it gradual? Describe it to us!
Scudwulf - I think the moment Scudworth realized that Wulfington…actually liked him and saw him as a friend? He re-evaluated how he thought about him.
Grulfe - I think it took a while for Gregory to come to terms with being in love with Wulfe. He had never been interested in a man before and had to grapple w/ some internalized homophobia and denial for a while. I think Wulfe could tell when Gregory started actually caring- coming to his room more often to check on him etc. and that really sparked his interest in the rat…
* Tell us about a defining moment in the self-ship lore (for example - the most impactful moment, a moment your S/I and F/O reminisce over all the time, a moment that fans of the self-ship would see as the “ship’s iconic scene”, etc.)!
Scudwulf - I think their most defining moment was their confession. They rented an RV for burning man and throughout the entire trip had really obvious romantic tension. I think one night, partly due to being dehydrated, they were on the roof of the RV looking at the stars and they just…kissed. They did that several times and fell asleep cuddling, and the next morning they weren’t entirely sure if that really happened…but it did. They were quiet for part of the way home until Scuds was like “So are we…together? Now?” and Wulfington is like “I hope so..hehe” and since then they’ve been inseparable. Don’t worry, Mr B made sure they were properly hydrated at every trip after.
Grulfe - I think their most impactful moment was after they started sleeping in the same room and bed, Wulfe woke up very upset from a PTSD Nightmare(Something I personally deal with IRL) and Gregory comforted him. Wulfe explained why it was so traumatic- and the fact he never thought anyone would actually love him…which Gregory reassures him that he really, truly does and promises to protect him and not let anything like that happen to him again. Wulfe still dealt with PTSD nightmares after that, but Gregory would always get him some hot chocolate and stay up with him until he calmed down, every time.
* If discussing a Romantic F/O, who confessed their feelings first and where/when? Did it go smoothly?
Scudwulf - I described up there the confession scene! I do think when they got home, Scudworth bragged about it to anyone he knew…including the main shadowy figure…who he soon found out happened to be Wulfington’s ex. And yes, he absolutely rubbed it in his face because he is just like that(Even though the main shadowy figure is actually fine with it, he and Wulfington broke up on good terms. Though he does think Wulfington could have done better than Scudworth…)
Grulfe - I don’t think either of them got to confess, I think James got word of Wulfe having a crush on his grandpa and was like “I promise I won’t tell him” and then immediately told him. So I think Gregory had a little panic mode over whether James was telling the truth or setting him up for disaster…but he went with it anyway and ended up having a, very awkward, conversation with Wulfe about it.
* Do your S/I and F/O(s) have any nicknames for each other? What are they?
Scudwulf - I think Scudworth absolutely calls Wulfington things like ‘My beloved husband who does all my paperwork.’ which makes Wulfington laugh. Wulfington calls him Scuds, Scudsy, but mostly calls him by his first name, Cinnamon. He’s probably the only person who calls him that affectionately and not angrily. And is the only one ALLOWED to.
Grulfe - Gregory has probably used every term of endearment for Wulfe possible, and Wulfe loves it. Wulfe has such loving nicknames for Gregory such as ‘My beloved’ and ‘My rat bastard husband who leaves crumbs in the bed’.
* How did their first time hanging out/going on a date go? What did they do?
Scudwulf - Their first time actually going on a date after the confession at Burning Man was to Olive Garden. Half because Scudworth just really likes it, half because he thought it’d be a nice place to take Wulfington. He wanted to pull a Lady and the Tramp with Wulfington with spaghetti but Wulfington was like ‘I want lasagna’ and Scudworth was like ‘OK good point, lasagna it is.’ Grulfe - I think Gregory was super anxious about the first date like, hours before and was like “I havent been on a date in SO long and I actually LIKE him oh god oh fuck I gotta make sure this goes well.” I think Gregory bribed Hel’s Chef to make a very nice romantic meal for him and Wulfe (God knows what he had to promise) and you know what? It went well, even though they were both wildly anxious the whole time. I think they kept finding the other staring at each other lovingly…they also both discover they are BOTH big fans of meat and cheese <3
* Has your S/I had any slumber parties (or in general late nights out) with your F/O(s)? How did those go?
Scudwulf - Well, long story short Scudwulf moved in together before they were even dating, because Wulfington’s house mysteriously got destroyed. So for a long time he just slept on Scudworth’s couch. I think they have a lot of late nights together where they just…spend time together.
Grulfe - Well to be honest it is…always night in this world. Or at least dark out. They also sleep in the same room so they get to spend quality time together before bed. Gregory is banned from eating cheese in bed though. He is not happy about this but he will get over it for his beloved.
* Do your S/I and F/O(s) live together? If so, where?
Scudwulf - Yep, they’ve been living together even before they were dating! They live at Scudworth’s place. Thankfully Wulfington being there has given him some incentive to keep the place more clean than it was. Not clean but at least it’s…more clean.
Grulfe - They live together because it is a hotel but also they eventually share a room and bed together.
* What love languages do your S/I & F/O(s) have?
Scudwulf - Touch and Tenderness I think…Scudworth just feels safe in Wulfington’s arms. Wulfington also appreciates that Scudworth goes out of his way to be romantic even if it tends to end Cartoonishly Wrong.
Grulfe - I think just…comfort. That’s all they’ve wanted in this world. Company and comfort.
* Did your S/I or F/Os make any friends from each others’ friend groups (like, does your S/I have any friends they met through F/O, or vice versa)?
Scudwulf - Gonna be honest, neither of them have friends really. They were kind of always in the same circles anyways. THOUGH Mr B did not like Wulfington at first but they ended up growing on each other and are friends now.
Grulfe -  Gregory doesn’t have friends. But Wulfe did learn to get along with most of the hotel guests. Most of them…(He is glaring at his enemy Bonsai Kabuki who is terrified of Wulfe.)
* What does your S/I’s family think about your F/O(s), or what does your F/O(s)’s family think about your S/I?
Scudwulf - They just are each other’s family. Scudworth still won’t talk about Brian however but Wulfington won’t push him.
Grulfe - Oh No it did not go well at first…James likes Wulfe because Wulfe is actually fun, but Gregory’s Mom was…not happy at first about Wulfe. When Gregory first introduced Wulfe to her as his boyfriend she kinda went off on how she would have So Much rather had a daughter in law...and this was the first time Gregory stood up to her. He could tell how upset Wulfe was getting so he stood up to her. I think over time she has begrudgingly accepted Wulfe as part of the family. She does keep trying to introduce him to “better” men in the hotel…but Wulfe is like “not interested.” I don’t think she ever ‘likes’ Wulfe but she keeps telling Gregory he Better act like a gentleman to him and to Not end up like his dad(Who left one day and Never Came Back) and Gregory has to keep insisting he is NOT going to do that to Wulfe. I don’t think she believes it until Gregory and Wulfe get married.
Teehee hope you enjoyed everyone feel free to talk to me abt them

Hii, if its alright I would love a Band of Brothers ship <3. Thank you!!
Appearance wise, I'm 5'3, blue/grey eyes with half bleached (white blonde underneath, brown on top) shoulder length hair. I also wear glasses. She/her pronouns.
Im a Scorpio and my personality type is ISTP. My love language is definitely quality time! Im often quite shy when first meeting someone, but when I'm comfortable around them I essentially lose all shame and become the loudest in the room. While my friends describe me as loyal, funny, and kind, they do say I can be very stubborn and unforgiving if someone crosses me.
Im currently getting a bachelors in forensic science (in my final year actually!) In terms of hobbies/interests, I'm a sucker for a good book and amazing music. My favourite books are a mix of fantasy (like The Hobbit) or history/war history (like Band of Brothers ^.^). I find that I spend most of my time listening to any type of music (genre would depend on what I'm feeling). I also started bookbinding as a hobby last year, which I find very relaxing. Same with making miniatures! I'm definitely more of a homebody, but when I'm dragged out of the house by my friends I do still enjoy it.
Ah!! A fellow forensic student! I currently study forensic psychiatric social work :)
As for your ship.. I ship you with;
Eugene Roe
Tumblr media
Ps. the gif above is mine!
I think Gene would definitely be into someone who is more quiet and introverted at first. That way he can ease into things without being overwhelmed. So the fact that you are also a little shy and quiet at first is perfect.
Gene is the type of person to get overwhelmed when someone he is romantically interested in is louder and more extroverted from the start, I think. However, he will fall hard once he's gotten to know you better and you become more extroverted. I think he'll use it as a way to become more talkative himself too.
He needs some external motivation to be more sociable, I think. Which he does not mind, but he is actually so thankful that you are that motivation to him. Even if you are not aware of it yourself. At social events, you'll sometimes catch him give you a smiley, loving look.
Speaking of social events, this man loves to spend time with you in any way. He'll be close to you whenever you two are out together. You are his safety net and perhaps he is yours too.
But, he loves spending time with you in any way. He prefers quiet nights though. And they don't have to have any particular activity. He'll love just being in the same room with you and doing whatever. Like, you both doing your own thing is enough for him a lot of the time. Occasionally, he'll steal a glance. Or he'll place a mug of tea down for you and sneak in a kiss too.
Whenever he plans a date though, it is low-key and personal. Which is actually so lovely. He's read about a pop-up store with all kinds of things relating to your fantasy books? Put your coat on, time to go! He's heard you talk about this do-it-yourself miniature set or a bookbinding things on Etsy? Get your comfy clothes in, it is raining and we are staying in to create. He honestly just loves to be involved.
Not only is he involved in your hobbies, he is genuinely interested in them and will actually try his best to understand them and be able to talk with you about them in depth.
The same goes for your studies. He may not be academically knowledgeable in it, but you'll often find him just going through your uni stuff. It has gotten to the point where he can actually hold an in-depth conversation about it with you. And he genuinely loves it.
Gene is just so happy to be involved with you and be around you. He'll show it through small gestures and maybe gets a little shy about it but honestly? That is his charm and I love it so much.

Thought this might give you some food for thought: I’m anti j*nrya and anti j*nsa on the grounds of incest but I like J*nerys. And here’s why. Our brains identify our relatives based on our lives experience with them, not actual blood shared. The material experience and lived relationships we have with other people are not changed by learning that there is blood shared or not shared. That’s why Jon still loved Dany when he found out they were related, even though he was uncomfortable with it. It didn’t dissolve the way his brain categorized her (as a non relative) based on experience. Likewise, Jon finding out that his siblings are actually his cousins isn’t going to make him suddenly able to be attracted to them because his whole life his brain has categorized them as relatives. When he meets and bonds with Dany, they have no idea. This is why it’s actually pretty uncommon for lifelong childhood friends raised side by side to end up together. Their experience is likely to have led their brains to classify each other as relatives. This all isn’t meant to change your mind or anything like that, but I’ve had people question how I can be against J*nsa, J*nrya, D*emyra, etc but like Jonerys
You have an interesting point of view, but I respectfully disagree entierly for a few reasons. First being, it scientifically is actually based off of blood. We are genetically hardwired to be sexually and romantically repulsed by our blood relatives, because it is a survival instinct against inbreeding.
It's why most long lost relatives are not accidentally attracted to family members before learning of their relation. We are genuinly hardwired in our DNA and genetic code to be repulsed by those who share within those sets of genetics. We can detect invisible markers that our conscious minds do not know about that indicate a similarity in blood relatives and will repulsed immediately. It's why incest is so abnormal, because it is biologically unnatural to be attracted to members of your family even if you don't know they are your blood relatives.
It's why the Targaryean incestual practices made them extinct, because it is unsustainable. We are biologically opposed to inbreeding because of the serious medical complications and issues of infertility. If I breed with my uncle, we share too many of the same genetic markers. Meaning that whatever rare syndromes or diseases we carry hereditary genes of, need to be matched with a partner that does not carry a hereditary ability to pass those rare conditions on. If I breed with my uncle we are too similar and it increases the chance a child would inherit those rare conditions because they did not have a second parent that could cancel out the hereditary genes. It's why we are almost never attracted to any blood relative, it is a survival instinct coded within our very dna.
Meaning it doesn't matter if Jon had no idea he was related to her, there is a 99% chance Jon naturally would not have any attraction to her because biology would already be warning him of the red flags his internal sensors are picking up of similar genetic traits. He also would likely be horrified because Dany is related to him in the exact way Jon thought he was related to Lyanna (meaning having sex with a woman who is his aunt likely would leave him traumatized since he just learned a woman he thought was aunt is actually his mother). She's his aunt in the exact way Benjen was his uncle, and he grew up both not raised to think incest is normal and he follows the old gods which strongly condemns it. He psychologically would have trauma learning he was related to her after having sex with her.
Also, being transparent, Dany being related to him is literally like one of the last reasons I have against them as a ship. My argument is Jon would oppose her as a human being because she stands for everything he finds monstrous, and their entire relationship is abuse and any subsequent sex is rape.
I outline a lot of this in this post and this post if you were curious.
I respect your choice to ship it but I fundamentally disagree with any argument of Jon ever being attracted to her for multiple reasons.
I think he would never be attracted to her, like her, or respect her. And I think their show relationship is gross and abusive, and rape.
The incest is just the icing on the 'no' cake.

🪀, ✨, 💌 for Vladimir? Or Galacta if he's not available please!
Oho, interested in my boy are we? I can do both here for you, though for Vlad it's just straight up canon since he's my boy. xD
~Vladimir:
🪀silly headcanon:
There's the obvious running gag of his genes being so wild and messy that he's a little bit of everything. 99% of any Demon Beasts you can think of he probably has like 0.000001% of it SOMEWHERE in his genes LMAO. It's what makes him confusing for anyone to encounter. He's a big cluster-heck of everything and thrives on messing with people by honestly telling them so.
✨a ship i like with this character: (I'll include my characters for both answers to this)
Oh man, there's a few. There's obviously the end-game one which is on here, but I'm not specifying which. Should be easy to figure out though!
MetaVlad is hilarious but they're besties. They would absolutely wreck havoc and be a chaotic duo if things went this way.
NecroVlad is a hilarious one since the two will have their moments together. It would be a hellish dynamic and would be just as chaotic as Meta and Vlad. OriVlad is also amazing because mmm that tension and delicious chemistry. I mean have you seen these two? It's a fun time.
...I realize these are all m/m pairings despite Vlad being pan. Oopsie. Not too many ladies to choose from, haha.
💌fluffy headcanon:
Vladimir, while being an absolute harbinger of chaos and quips, is actually a pretty soft guy. He's gentle with the kids and very careful around delicate emotions---he would NEVER take advantage if one of his friends was having a moment of weakness/distress. (Obviously enemies are an exception.) One of his favorite uses of his Dreamscape control is to make his friends and family happy by giving them a dream come true for a bit, or dragging them off to whoever they want to see the most.
He also knows magic tricks without any actual use of magic and loves using such to make the kids smile if they're upset or crying. He's extremely good with kids despite being engineered to murder one.
Despite his body hosting his Dark Matter, they can feel everything he does. They get to experience happiness and joy, as well as misery and the like. Vladimir opts for happier feelings to not sink and let them hijack his body to become... That. If he gets overwhelmed with happiness (or say love) he'll freeze up more frequently and have trouble moving from the intensity, which to me is adorable as hell. Sincerity throws him off in the best of ways, since he's so used to hell.
~Galacta:
🪀silly headcanon:
Gala is very proud of his wings and despises them getting dirty. He scoffs at even the idea of folding his wings away into their cape-form because he prefers them out at all times. He frets when it's molting time and keeps them very pristine.
Despite their big size, he does not like just anyone touching them. He's very particular on who gets access to his feathers.
✨a ship i like with this character:
MetaGala, obviously. Big OTP for me. MorphoGala is one that originally I didn't think much of but it really grew on me and now I love it a lot, haha! MetaMorphoGala is also grand because I'm a little self-indulgent.
GalaNecro is also cute, given Necro did have a crush on him at one point. Necro still cares for him deeply. Sis Knight also had a crush on him at some point too and I used to have a spin off AU where she and Gala were a thing! They were actually a very cute pair in that world, haha. Artemis and Gala are also a cute one and in a very different AU they were a thing too. Obvs now it's very different and they're basically siblings, but the dynamic was more on the tragic side.
💌fluffy headcanon:
I've always given Galacta an ability to cook and sew---He loves very traditionally feminine things despite being the most powerful entity in the galaxy. He is very loving and tender and strong in both senses of the word. Galacta could obliterate an entire solar system if he wanted, but why when he could be making the best cheesecake ever?
Galacta also wanted to go into the healing side of things rather than be a warrior, but his power was too great to just squander, so he was unfortunately forced into his training and knighthood. But he did learn a little and cherishes the knowledge, even if it's been more often used to figure out where one's most vital weakness was. If he could retire from fighting, he would love to just focus on healing the injured and making everyone happier.

Your post about not wanting kids irl but exploring having kids in a fictional context is really relatable. I like the idea of being a parent in a fictional context, especially if it’s like being a parental figure to fictional children who’s fictional parents didn’t treat them well. Additionally, the idea of a character you love telling you that you’d make a great parent is also really assuring and weirdly affirming. I’m not sure how to further explain it, but it’s just a really comforting thing to me personally.
but having kids in real life? Yeah no, that’s off the table. I have so many reasons why and most of said reasons are out of my control (ie: the climate is fucked) - but mostly it’s because of my medical condition which leaves me really tired a lot and taking care of myself is already hard enough as it is. Raising a whole human being while tired? YEAH NO, that’s not going to happen. But yeah I’m sorry about this ask/2 cents but your post was really relatable.
Yes totallyyy like I like thinking about telling my f/os they're gonna be dads and stuff, I think that's super cute but even then I feel like it's more about me and them and us than the baby itself HAHAHA... Just imagining little contained scenarios like that is enough for me, and it's not even in my ship lore or anything. Great for higher stakes drama and angst though. Plus I lose interest in imagining anything past uhm... delivery and the first 24 hours....uh uh no thank you. selfship inner mind theatre over. once that baby starts impeding on our relationship (jk)
I think it makes perfect sense to enjoy it only in a fantasy way because well... if you do it in real life you get an actual real baby you have to centre around and it won't even be C.able's from d.eadpool 2 ☹🙁😬😬(L)
I agree with what you said about a character telling you you're gonna be a great parent- I think this hits the part of the brain that's like yesssss f/o picked me they picked MEEEEE im going to be their little broodmare for all time :) cuz they just like me sooooo much :)) - which I am all about almost pathologically. It feels kinda gross and biological but I guess i still have that switch that says find the best genes out there and make sure you snatch them up so they get deposited into you and create offspring. ig my f/os are my brain's idea of "THE BEST GENES" so I want them to br**d me for not only sexual reasons. it's like I don't want to actually be a mother but I still want you to want to if I wanted to idk... it's nice to be ASKED ig 🙄😤😤
when I was a kid I just assumed I would have kids at some vague future date, like it was an inevitable thing coming towards me I couldn't prevent. but when I got into my 20s I realised i literally didn't have to and it's crazy that that blew my mind HAHA. I was like wait... this idea never excited me and I never really cared about it or fantasised about babies it wasn't a part of any dream future type plans. I would always wanna rp as the pregnant mother when we played house tho ig that's the only part I liked the idea of HAHAHAHA and still to this day... but hell no i don't want to take care of the doll and tote it around and pretend to feed it. this explains everything
I also agree with your climate change reason for not having kids. That's one of my personal things too- call me a doomer or whatever but I just feel like I'm doing them a disservice, when I myself am already concerned about what the rest of my life will involve with weather messing up food supplies, plastic pollution, extreme temps etc- plus the environmental impact of one more person when in all likelihood I KNOW I wouldn't really enjoy being a mother. The cons far far far outweigh the pros for me (I can only think- my partner may really want kids? but then why are they with me lol. also i feel this is a quick trip to resentment and regret because you only did it for someone else- and as a woman statistically most of the child rearing would be on me too). i also am a bit weird in the brain (menthol illness that i think emotionally stunts me and takes a lot to manage- i need a lot of time to myself to decompress) and a lot of that is coincidentally due to my own mothering experience (bad and scary) + having no positive modelling of motherhood (hence never developing the instincts? behaviours? maternal warmth who?) so it seems like a real surreal nightmare situation to have my own children.
it's ok tho I hc C.able as infertile due to the virus 😎✌

Reviewing Star Trek TNG - S3E23 "Ménage à Troi"
Tumblr media
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they were just looking for an excuse to use that title. Though I can’t say I blame them.
Also, fun fact, this is actually going live the day before Jonathan Frakes' birthday. I really wish I had a better episode to mark the occasion.
THE PREMISE
During a reception on the Enterprise to celebrate a successful trade deal, Counsellor Troi is arguing with her mother Lwaxana about starting a family. Afterwards, Lwaxana is approached by the Ferengi Daimon Tog, who both lusts for her and thinks her telepathic abilities could help him with business, but she rejects him.
At the behest of Captain Picard, Riker and Troi take a quick shore leave on Betazed, only for Lwaxana to track them down to encourage a relationship between them. However, Tog shows up again, but when he's again rebuffed by Lwaxana, he has the three of them beamed up to his ship.
MY REVIEW
Ah, Lwaxana Troi and the Ferengi. A combination which absolutely fucking nobody asked for, but damn if that’s going to stop them.
Let's be honest: if episodes like this and Manhunt didn't have Gene Roddenberry's wife as the focus, they never would've gotten past the concept stage, and whatever poor sap suggested them in the writers' room would be rightly mocked and preferrably pelted with rotten produce.
Okay, that was a bit harsh. I have nothing against Majel Barrett, especially since she at least gets to play a different side of Lwaxana this time, showing that despite her somewhat... maniser? Whatever the female equivalent of a womaniser is towards Picard, we at least know that she isn't promiscuous.
My problem is that the episodes that focus on her are usually subpar - after all, her last episode was my least favourite actual episode of season 2 - and this one is no exception.
Case in point, when they regain consciousness on board the ship, Tog has Troi and Lwaxana beamed into a separate compartment... without their clothes. Something that's expanded upon in Deep Space Nine (a show which usually makes good use of the Ferengi) is that Ferengi believe that their women (and women in general) are unworthy of wearing clothes.
Tumblr media
...Why have I insisted on doing this to myself?
Anyway, one benefit of this setup is that it at least gives the cast a chance to play some mind games. Though the Ferengi aren't much of an opponent.
In one corner, we have Riker playing a game of actual chess with the same Ferengi guard he was playing with at the reception earlier, using the guard's competitiveness against him to talk his way out of the cell and gain access to the ship's computer.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Lwaxana keeps Tog distracted by... playing along with his advances and rubbing his ears in a gesture which is apparently known as oo-mox, since the ears are one of the most sensitive parts of a Ferengi's body. In layman’s terms, she unknowingly gave him the Ferengi equivalent of a handjob.
Tumblr media
This episode's a real piece of work. I'd like to offer my condolences to whatever poor bastard had to make the Memory Alpha page about oo-mox, including every onscreen instance of it.
Also the Ferengi head makeup doesn’t really adhere well to the skin, and there are very obvious seams between his eyes and his forehead when he’s lying down.
Anyway, Riker is caught (because we need to pad out the script somehow), and to prevent himself from being reported, Tog agrees to use mind probes on Lwaxana to duplicate her telepathic powers, even if it could potentially kill her.
youtube
Yes, the mind probe!
But of course this doesn't happen. In fact, Lwaxana even strikes up a deal with Tog, with Riker and Troi going free in exchange for her staying with the Ferengi. When the Enterprise arrives (there's this whole subplot about them tracking the prisoners down, but it's not really important), Lwaxana hails them:
"When will you get it through your thick head that it's over between us, Jean-Luc?"
Picard's sense of horror is tangible as he realises that Lwaxana wants him to fight for her. And as absurd as this is, it fits well with the episode's tone and is actually entertaining, with Picard hamming it up reciting Shakespeare to profess his "love" for Lwaxana and giving us perhaps the most famous Star Trek meme template of them all.
Tumblr media
It gets even better when Lwaxana claims that Picard is jealous enough to murder his competition, and Picard immediately plays along. Then once Lwaxana is aboard the Enterprise and Tog is gone, Picard immediately drops the act.
"Mr Crusher, set a course for Betazed. Warp nine."
See? This series can be funny when it wants to.
By the way, there’s been this whole subplot about Wesley Crusher taking his oral exam to graduate Starfleet Academy and his concern that he won't be able to serve on the ship, presumably because the writers knew that they didn’t have enough of a plot to fill a whole episode. But in the course of helping to track down the prisoners, he misses his transport to the Academy.
Though Wesley intends to reapply next year, Picard calls him to his office.
"The Academy's loss is our gain. The Enterprise will continue to benefit from your talents for another year… You see, Wesley, in my eyes, you are an acting ensign in title only. I hereby grant you a field promotion to full ensign with all the commensurate responsibilities and privileges of that rank."
Congratulations, Wesley. You may be the same rank as Harry Kim, but you’ve gotten more promotions than he ever will.
Plus it's nice to see Wil Wheaton finally get to wear a proper Starfleet uniform instead of that weird grey jumpsuit.
Tumblr media
It also has some fucked-up implications for the alternate history we saw in Yesterday's Enterprise, since it implies in that timeline the Federation were so desperate that they were promoting acting Ensigns like Wesley into full officers.
In lighter news, an otherwise weak episode ends on a good note. It's great to see the crew continuing to grow.
4/10 - At least it's better than the last Lwaxana episode.
