What’s captain 3 like? Are they friendly?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I think the Captain is super cool! They use sign to communicate, so the others have to translate a lot for me because I’m still learning. I think they’re nice! If not, a little intimidating…”
“And, uh, I’m sure they’ve forgotten about that whole “Thanks parental figure!” incident by now…”

I’m starting to suspect that Porter could intentionally be fucking Gorgug over in an attempt to bring out some rage in him and if that is the case, I can see the conclusion of that endeavor being Gorgug teaching HIM that uncontrolled, unpredictable rage offers little strategically to a party, but someone as emotionally conscientious and leveled out as Gorgug can tap into rage as a tool and that’s what makes him a good barbarian.
I’m thinking we’re approaching an arc about that, with the frost fest coming up at the thistlespring tree next episode and it being revealed that both his adoptive and biological parents will be there- the gnomes that raised him to be kind and emotionally intelligent, and the orcs that passed the barbarian nature down to him. I think Gorgug is going to accept his strengths as a barbarian in control of his anger, who can apply himself outside of his rage and dial into it when it matters. He’ll be better than Porter ever was.

I find it extremely realistic that Fabian is the most popular kid in school because if they announced that someone killed the clearly evil robot principle and the kid who killed him just yelled “GOT EM!” and then proceeded to have zero repercussions for killing the principle I would think he’s cool as shit too man

I think the crux of what makes the rat grinders so damn rage-inducing is just. How fucking entitled their whole stance is. Like sure they've put in a lot of time! And frankly, if they were just trying to graduate, put in the work, and get out with average fucking grades that would be fine.
But instead the first thing we know about them is that they feel the treatment some people (the bad kids) get is unfair. And like. That's what makes it so frustrating when the revelation comes of what they've been doing for the last two years. Because in those two years they have risked nothing and helped no one. Killing rats in a trainee forest doesn't change anything. The rats are just there. They're not a threat to anyone, there isn't any danger. Nobody needs to be doing that.
Meanwhile, the bad kids have quite literally saved the world three fucking times. The number of people who have directly benefitted from the actions of the bad kids is astronomical! And they have risked so goddamn much in the process. They have repeatedly put everything they have and are on the line, with the only beneficial reward they've gotten being their grades. Hell, mostly their success has just resulted in them being burdened with more work!
So when these fucking rat grinders show up and start complaining that the bad kids are getting favored unreasonably, they and we all know how absolutely bullshit it is, because the reality is, the bad kids have put in so much more work than the rat grinders have, for barely any reward.

Every single Bad Kids parent polycue combination is so fucking priceless to me. Like---
Sklonda and Gorthalax? They probably dated for a bit, jury's out on whether or not they're still together, but yeah, it sorta makes sense. Jawbone and Sandralynn? Hell yeah, makes perfect sense, two people who are both messy in their own ways but manage to balance each other out. Hallariel and Gilear? Makes zero sense at first glance but the more you think about it the more you realize that, yeah, they do kinda work.
And then we throw Garthy into the mix, who almost certainly had a fling with Bill before Bill met Hallariel, and we find out that they've not only hooked up with Sandralynn but also Jawbone. And then we get confirmation from Brennan that Sklonda and Sandralynn have hooked up (that's where Sandralynn got the Kalina virus from)! And then we get canon confirmation that the Thistlesprings, who are pretty much a package deal, are swingers, opening up the possibility to the fact that they may or may not have swung with Jawbone! Maybe even Sandralynn! And maybe even Roz and Gorbag (depending on whether or not they actually met those two when they first had Gorgug, but it's a possibility)!
And it doesn't even stop there! Because guess what, Bill and Pok are in contact across afterlives! They have monthly check-ins! Who knows what those check-ins entail! They could very well be in a long-distance relationship!
Literally the only Bad Parents who aren't involved in the parental polycue are the Applebees and the Abernants and that's because the Applebees are a Conservative Helioic Suburban Couple and the Abernants are a Stuffy Elitist Elven Couple. They're different flavors of awful but I'm willing to bet that their views on sexuality are both pretty outdated.

I think the most heartbreaking part if this season (excluding Lucy) is the Rat Grinders being a pale, cold reflection of the Bad Kids. Like the Bad Kids have these wonderfully sweet moments of being together. That’s fundamentally what makes them The Bad Kids. They went through the shittyiest things in the world together and now they love each other so so so much and we get all of these sweet and tender moments of them loving each other. And the Rat Grinders are them with all that love stripped away, they don’t care about one another, they haven’t been through the same things, the only reason they are a party is because they are tactically useful together, not because they love one another. And when their Kristen dies they do nothing but replace her rather than mourn. Can you even imagine what the Bad Kids would do if Kristen died? And She Did. And they Freaked and kept her bones to figure out a way to Bring Her Back. They mourned and ran into the forest of their greatest nightmares after looking at each other and with all the love in the world saying “for Kristen.” The Bad Kids care about each other more than anything in the world, if they didn’t even the world wouldn’t be there. The Rat Grinders are a mirror showing them what it would be like if they didn’t, if they only fought for themselves and their own personal means. If they had let Kristen stay in the forest, only a pile of bones as the Rat Grinders did with Lucy. Maybe they aren’t evil, or the bbg, but they are an icy wake up call for the Bad Kids of what they could have been. A horrible version of what they could have been.

something I love about fantasy high is how they like aren’t just a group of friends? like the bad kids yes friends amazing, but as we all know
Everyone is step/ adopted siblings with everyone else except gorgug
( but also like he is their brother, he just is)
it’s like that crazy thing in high school where there’s that friend group where everyone has dated everyone else except instead of the kids doing that it’s their parents.
love it, detention buds to trauma bonded pals to besties to hey we’re related now and have like a group of 20 people going on Christmas vacation together pipeline. The dynamic of all time.
