Thrush
Skywings are born completely covered down feathers to help insulate them as their 'flame' is still developing, of which they typically shed all their feathers as they reach maturity, leaving fully scaled adults. That being said it's not uncommon for adult skywings to be fully feathered. There have also been cases of a 'half n' half' skywing every now and then, partly feathered and partly scaled.

the redwing is a member of the thrush family found throughout europe and the paleartic; they are similar in appearance to other common thrushes like the fieldfare and the american robin. while the sexes are similar in appearance, males are much more vocal, and frequently sing; there is distinct variation in song based on the bird’s location, with populations in different locations learning different songs. the redwing is omnivorous; in warm months, they primarily feed on earthworms and insects, while in the colder months they feast on winter berries.

Help a starving artist out and get yourself a print! ❤🙏😌 As a plus Inprnt is having 15% off! 👍❤
It really helps specially with the cost of food today and the tough game industry that us game devs are facing right now. 🙏
Thank you to everyone in this community for being so supportive. I will keep feeding you Horizon art and more. 💪☺❤

Also, not-great pictures of a hermit thrush. Exciting because for me seeing them marks the time when I go off about bird migration and think about not much else for about a month. RIP chores and focusing on anything but that!

the mistle thrush is a large species of thrush found in much of europe, in addition to portions of asia and north africa. they are the largest thrush species native to europe. they have soft grey uppersides, and speckled undersides; the sexes have no identifiable differences in plumage. as their name implies, they are crucial to the spread of mistletoe seeds; this bird feeds on insects, seeds and fruits, and prefers fruits and seeds from mistletoe, holly, and yew.

February 19, 2024 - Usambara Thrush (Turdus roehli) Found in northeastern Tanzania, these thrushes live in and around mountain and lowland forests. They eat insects, mollusks, nematodes, millipedes, spiders, small lizards, and fruit, foraging in leaf litter. Only three of their nests have been recorded, though they were not described, and their breeding season is thought to begin in late August or early September. Little else is known about their nesting habits. Classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN, their population is likely declining due to habitat loss in their tiny range.
