When I met this family, I thought they were just a group of students who were really familiar with one another. At first glance, they didn't seem to belong together, but as I spent more time with them, I realized they were definitely a unit: they had an easy way with one another, stayed close together and included everyone in the events of the day. Though I (and others) didn't initially understand their dynamic, that didn't stop them from being who they were to each other as well as to anyone else who may have questioned them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thinking back to that day, I realize the importance of having a tribe. There is something empowering about being able to lean on those you know have your back just as you have theirs-no matter what others think. Not everyone falls into this category, and it's necessary to know who is who. Sometimes, your tribe doesn't include certain friends or family members, and that's ok. Keeping your circle filled with people who will listen, laugh, and cry with you, encourage and inspire you, hold you accountable, and support and love you is vital to your peace, health, and growth-no matter what area of your life you're focusing on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When was the last time you took stock of who you've let into your tribe? Hundreds of years ago, it was thought to be very good luck to touch the bride. This often caused discomfort and invasion of privacy to the bride, since guests would typically stand around her in an attempt to rip the gown off! (Uh, no thanks!) . . In order to deter guests, the bride began tossing their bouquets into the crowds to distract people, then making a break for it with her husband to the bridal chamber. The groom would open the door and toss out the garter once the couple was inside. . . People just wanted pieces of the bride’s accessories because she was married. So guests were naturally thrilled to grab the flowers, since they, too, were thought to bring romantic luck for the future. . . Over the years, this act of distraction has turned into a tradition meant for the bride to pass on her good fortune to one single lady. For all of our new followers this is Belle, her and our other dog Beast are considered to be our mascots. Just like B+B is for Becca+Ben it's also stands for Belle+Beast. Belle is also called Princess not because she's danty (other than she hates getting her paws wet) but because shes snippy and stubborn like Princess Leah from Star War. Now that you get a general idea of how she acts, just let me tell you I don't go a day without getting some form of glare from this dog. Almost all of which are disapproving looks, whether I'm sitting on her favorite blanket or she’s waiting for me to feed her.
