Some tooth rotting Nessian fluff for you my loves since we're deep in the exam session and I'm a serial procrastinator (and also depressed as fuck apparently) and I can't find any Shatter Me fics that satisfy my need for fluff rn
Set in the The Seven of Us AU (masterlist)
Word count: 1,393
Nesta was perfectly aware of the fact that she was starring. She knew her husband would give her shit if he noticed her ogling him as he started his evening work out, but she really couldn't care less about it.
She had closed her book almost twenty minutes ago as he'd walked in their living room. Cassian had gone up to her, ran a hand through her hair to tilt her head up and leave a soft, loving kiss on her forehead.
She'd closed her eyes, hoping for more, but she'd been left wanting, her neck bent back as she faced the ceiling. The warmth of his hand still lingered on her skin.
"I love you," he'd whispered as he'd made his way to their windowless room—the space where they kept all the kids' too-big-to-fit-in-the-room games and Cassian's gym equipment. Nesta hated that room, it was so messy she tried to forget it existed half the time.
And now it was the easiest task for her, to not think of anything at all. Cassian was wearing a white shirt whose sleeves he had ripped off. His tattoos were in full display for her to admire in the golden light of the late afternoon, and his dark, tanned skin shined with sweat. The black ink moving with every push and pull of his arms, his muscles vibrating with the effort to lift the weights. And the occasional grunts and huffs coming from him were just an added little gift, directly from the universe to her.
She was exhausted and all she wanted to do was unapologetically gawk at her sweaty husband as she lay on the couch under her blanket. So that was what she was doing.
He was looking outside through the kitchen window, and a small smile blossomed on his lips as the shrieks and laughters of their kids filled their silent room.
"Cece! That's mi–ne!"
Nesta sighed through her nose and shuffled on the couch to find a more comfortable position, knowing perfectly well she wouldn't lift a finger if shit went down. Nevermind that their four-year-old had just started screaming at the top of her lungs. She knew if was only because Cal had stolen yet another of her toys.
They heard Ezra try to pacify his sister and meddle things between his siblings, and Cassian couldn't help his snort when Celia started screaming at him, too, to leave her puppets alone.
Nesta closed her eyes, basking in her children's sounds, absorbing every word and whine, every giggle and cry. She knew it wouldn't last forever.
They could already see it with Ezra, now only a few weeks away from his thirteenth birthday, his voice had started to become deeper and his laugh more... grown-up. He'd lost his soft giggles. When she'd first noticed, Nesta had almost cried.
And Cal and Nora had just turned eight and five respectively. Andra's second birthday was nine days away—
She shook her head, blinking her tiredness away, willing her mind to slow down and enjoy every bit of it while she had it.
It wasn't until she yawned that Cassian finally looked her way. The moment his eyes were on her curled up figure, they softened and he slowed down his movements. He stopped altogether when she rubbed her eyes with the back on her hand and dropped the weights to the floor.
She offered him a weak smile and his face lit up, his breath hitched, as he took two long strides to her side, crouching down.
Nesta looked him in the eyes, mumbling a silent, "Hi."
Cassian smoothed a hand over her hair again, and then brushed her cheek, cupping her face. His thumb was drawing short lines on her bottom lip now.
"Are you tired, sweetheart?" He asked her, his eyes locked on her mouth.
Nesta nodded, her position not really allowing her much movement. "I had the longest day at work."
"'M sorry, baby," he leaned forward, the tip of his nose brushing hers, "I can always give you a massage later, if you'd like that."
She hummed, pleased even just at the idea. His nostrils flared as he took a deep breath and kissed the corner of her lips.
"I would love that," Nesta said.
It was Cassian's turn to hum, and when their eyes met, she couldn't resist it anymore and lifted her head just as he closed in on her. They both smiled in the kiss and then Cassian was gone.
Nesta was stunned, still recovering at the quickness with which he'd moved that he was laying on one of the confusing torture machines he trained with.
"Gotta finish the work out first," he cracked his neck, starting a new set as he kept talking. "I'll cook dinner, put the gremlins to bed and then we can chill, watch a movie... take a bath, together."
Nesta looked at him, mirth sparkling in her eyes. Or at least that was what she hoped she was conveying through her exhaustion. He smirked in her direction, winking and opening his mouth to surely make a crude comment on their evening activities.
It surprised her then, when instead of getting a dirty preview of whatever he was gonna do to her, he whispered, so quietly that she barely heard him, "I missed you so much today."
She blinked and mollified, shaking her head.
Hopeless romantic, that husband of hers—
The loud, booming crack of Cal's laughter distracted her from her thoughts and the sound of the backdoor opening piqued her attention enough that she sat up, glancing at their backyard.
Nora came stumbling in the kitchen, tripping on the glass door.
"Watch your step, honey," Cassian said, before she could intervene.
Their daughter's smile was blinding. Happiness radiated from her small body as she jumped towards them. Her hazel eyes were alight with life, her whole head shone with sun rays embedded in her braided hair.
She was their little nugget of sunshine. And Nesta felt the strongest surge of love grow in her chest when she belined for her dad.
She threw herself on Cassian's chest.
"Hey, Nora," he said, wrapping his arms around her tiny tiny body. Nesta plopped down once again, holding a pillow to her chest. "Are you having fun?"
Nora started nodding so ferociously on his chest that her hair spiked everywhere. And then with the most adorable voice she said, "I love you. I always love you."
Cassian didn't hesitate, "I'll always love you, honey."
Their kid rested her cheek on his pec and looked at him, smiled. Cassian blew a strand of her hair that had gone astray off her face, petting it down and trying to braid it back into her complex hairdo.
They looked at each other for such a short time, and still, Nesta couldn't have asked for anything more.
The love shining there, in both her soulmate's eyes and in the eyes of that one fifth of her own soul... it took her breath away. Whenever she realised what she had created. What she had, what was hers and only hers.
She loved her family so much it hurt.
"Come back outside Nona!"
The little girl rose abruptly at her brother's voice, and without a single glance back ran outside, screaming over her shoulder.
"Goodbye daddy, I'm going out to play! Goodbye mommy!"
"Okay, see you honey."
Nesta recovered from the lump in her throat just in time before the door slammed shut and shouted back at her, "Love you, baby!"
Cassian had rose up on his elbows to follow his daughter with his gaze, a silly lost smile plastered on his face, and as soon as she out of sight he fell back down again.
He brought both hands to his face and breathed out a laugh. It sounded like his body needed to get all that unbridled love out somehow and didn't know any better than laugh it out.
Nesta breathed in, chuckling under her breath.
"That was so fucking cute."
Cassian's head snapped in her direction and she was surprised to find his eyes glossy, but still full of hope and love and gratitude. She smiled at him, her whole body softening in front of that picture.
"We made such a bunch of sentimental gremlins," he breathed out.
"That we did."
Heavily inspired by this reel.

Souad al-Halabi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is our girl, Souad al-Halabi. And here are the picrews I used: 1, 2 and 3
Nationality: Souad is from the city of Halabi (from which she takes the surname) in Tijara, a country of merchants inspired by North Africa, especially Morocco.
Family: She often travels with her dad, she is a merchant like him. When they are able to get home in Halabi, there are Souad's mother and little brother awaiting for them. Typically in Tijara when a non merchant marries a merchant, they will adopt the lifestyle of their partner, independently on gender. If a kid is born, the parent who married in the merchant family will typically stay home and care for them. Once the kid reaches 13 years of age, they will choose whether they want to be initiated to merchantry, o keep on studying. In any case the parent who previously settled down will resume traveling with their partner. If the child chooses to pursue further education, they will be enrolled in boarding schools until the age of 21. Souad's mother is home with her brother, who is 11 and, at least for now, is not manifesting any desire to engage in trades. Souad, instead, had been begging to do so since she was 7.
Affiliation: She is part of the Merchantry and Trade Corporation in Tijara
What does she do for a living: She follows her dad's party during travels and trades as a trainee. Her eyes makeup color symbolises her role in society. Usually people in Tijara wear a dense and compact cream over the eyes to protect them for the sun. People who wear blue are merchants, people who wear golden are diplomats, people wo wear red are still in training (like Souad), and will be later given the choice to either become a merchant or diplomat. Kids and people in school wear green, while fully formed Scholars wear black. They too can then undergo training to become diplomats. This means that Souads father wears blue, her brother wears green and her mother green as well (she will resume wearing blue when she resumes her travels)
Friends: she will get particularly close to Katz even if after some initial ostility. She will also get very close to Nayeli since they are almost biological sisters
Age: 17 years old
Personality: she is very rational, but that causes her to be a bit controlling. She always feels like she has to have the upper hand in any situation and that will cause her to clash with Katz numerous times. However she is excellent at maintaining calm during delicate and tense situations, and she will become the official/unofficial diplomats of the group
Religious beliefs: she believes generally In all gods, but especially she trusts in Sabeth (see picture), to keep safe during her numerous trades. On that note, her clothing and veils are not worn for strictly religious purposes, rater to help keep cleaner and avoid heat and infections since she travels a lot in numerous regions.

[John flops on the sofa and turns the television on, mindlessly flipping through the channels until he finds the football game.] Katherine: [whispers] It could have gone a lot worse, you know. My parents really like you; if they didn't, they would have left the moment I said I was pregnant.
John: Could have fooled me tonight; I know getting pregnant is a shock... but does your mom really think I'd just up and leave you? [Katherine fidgets nervously. She knows why Jessica is worried, either way one looked at it--Mark up and left her.]
John: The babies, you--you're my family--and after being abandoned so much by family as a kid--I would never do that to you." Katherine: I know you would never do that to me or the babies. Stick around and you'll change their minds.

Night Pizza
Nesta Archeron x Cassian modern au
Set in The Seven Of Us au (masterlist)
A/N at the end of the post
Word count: 1.236
Cassian was standing shirtless just inside their bedroom, an irritating proud smirk lighting his face. He leaned back against the door frame and crossed his arms over his chest, making his biceps grow in size.
Nesta was enjoying the view and contemplating asking for another ride while laying naked on their bed. After all, it was Saturday night—probably more like Sunday morning at this point—and their pretty little rule still stood after so many years.
He flexed his pecs and Nesta huffed a laugh, meeting his eyes right after.
Cassian's features softened at that look, "I really like you watching me like that, but we have a code red."
Nesta perked up then, sitting up in bed and covering her chest with the sheet.
"Who's crying?" She asked as she quickly put on a the pyjamas Cassian had so tenderly and slowly taken off of her hours before.
He walked into the room, that stupid pleased grin back on as he said, "Andra."
Nesta's heart clenched as she frowned. Their youngest had had the worst week ever in between mean classmates, school projects, birthday parties gone bad and tiring sport events. So her being mentally exhausted and crying at 3AM wasn't really confusing.
What she was perplexed about was her husband seeming genuinely happy about their daughter crying.
Nesta side eyed him as she bent to put on some socks. That satisfied expression on his handsome face was still in place.
"Did she tell you what happened?" She asked, standing up and walking up to him. Then, as if just then ntoicing, "also, why aren't you with her?"
Nesta was about to sidestep him, since he'd decided to just stand in front of the door, but he stopped her, placing a hand on her waist and pulling her to him.
"She heard you screaming."
Nesta stopped in her tracks and gaped, looking up at him.
Cassian smiled even wider, beaming at her reaction. "She heard your screams and thought you were hurt."
She blinked, a laugh bubbling up her throat.
"I was screaming?" She asked as she mindlessly brought a hand to her mouth.
Cassian nodded, utter male pride as he licked his lip and then bit it to control his own laughter.
"Yeah, sweetheart," he whispered, leaning down to brush his lips on her cheek. "So I really think you should go talk to her and tell her you're okay."
Nesta snorted lightly and shook her head, bringing a hand to her forehead before freeing herself from his grasp and leaving him behind, chuckling by himself in their room.
As soon as she stepped inside Andra's bedroom, the child's sobs and whines made her knees weak.
As funny as this story would be in the morning and when they'd tell their friends and family, their daughter had seriously thought something had happened to her and she needed to handle this the right way in order to not scar her for life.
"Oh, my baby," Nesta whispered in the dark, crawling on Andra's bed. She found the little girl right away—hidden under all those stuffed animals and pillows—and brought her tiny shaking body on her lap. "What's going on? What happened?"
They made it a point to always ask their children what had happened directly, always tried to make them talk directly to them instead of through the other parent.
Andra's muffled cries against her chest made Nesta tighten her hold on her daughter.
"I heard you screaming and I wanted to know what's wrong–" she sniffed, wiping her face on Nesta's shirt, "–but no one was answering me."
"Baby," Nesta coed, "I'm so sorry, Andra. Our door was closed and I couldn't hear you."
"I thought you were hurt or something," she sobbed, Nesta's heart broke along with her voice.
"No, I'm not hurt. I'm fine. See?"
Nesta pulled Andra's head back gently, swiping her hair from her sweaty forehead. She smiled reassuringly at her daughter and then started rocking her.
"I'm fine," she murmured again, kissing Andra's temple and bringing her to her chest. Nesta placed a hand on her back and started massaging it, to soothe her better, and feeling Andra's heart go crazy under her fingers made her feel a bit guilty.
It was a long ten minutes before she stopped crying, but by the time Cassian entered the room, Andra was only sniffing, wiping her nose on the back of her hand and on Nesta's shoulder.
He neared them and put a hand on Andra's head, "I told you she wasn't hurt."
His daughter only blinked at him, and Nesta couldn't help her laugh in front of that indifference.
"Are you okay now?" He asked her anyway.
Andra nodded this time and then pulled herself together, sitting in Nesta's lap and hunching tiredly. She yawned, putting up the parents' favourite cutest show, and then she eyed them both, going back to lean on her mother.
"I heard you ordering pizza."
Cassian barked a laugh and swept the girl from Nesta's arms, pulling her to him. She started giggling furiously as Cassian tickled her sides and covered her face in kisses.
Nesta smiled softly at the picture.
When Andra started screaming for a truce, Nesta poked a finger in Cassian's side, making him jerk and quite literally threw their daughter on the bed. The betrayed look he gave her only made her laugh.
Cassian got up, clapped his hands and said, "it should be any minute now. Why don't you go wake your brother up? He'll riot if he knows we had a pizza party without him."
Andra squealed and then ran off to her brother's room, but before she could reach it, Nesta whisper yelled after her. "Remember to knock first!"
Cassian nodded absentmindedly, staring at the floor, and then snorted.
"I'll go get Celia," he told her. Nesta yawned and Cassian didn't think twice before sticking a finger in her mouth.
When she frowned and slapped his hand away, he only raised his eyebrows and said, "Don't give me that look, I only got you back."
Not even fifteen minutes later, the five of them were silently munching on a large pizza, all sitting on top of the others, with Cassian being at the bottom of the weirdly shaped human pyramid.
With Ezra and Nora being elsewhere for the night, only the Trouble Triad was present, but it being the middle of the night, they all looked so calm and spent.
Nesta loved her family dearly, especially when they felt safe enough to just be themselves and act unhinged, but she couldn't lie and say she didn't enjoy these quiet moments.
After fighting over the last slice and Celia winning it like usual, they all went back to their rooms and while Nesta was questioning her abilities as a parent—because, let's be honest, waking up your children to make them eat pizza in the middle of the night wasn't the best—Andra's soft pitter patter sounded down the hallway.
Followed by a guilty Cassian, the little girl was clutching her favourite stuffed animal in a hand and her blankey in the other.
Nesta only smiled knowingly and lifted her side of the comforter, inviting Andra to join her under the sheets.
For tonight, she'd let her child hold her, hoping to chase away any fears and bad thoughts that might be lingering.

A/N: I. AM. SCREAMING. I found this tiktok here and let me tell you, the second I saw that man grinning like that woman laughing behind her phone, that kid crying? I KNEW I HAD TO DO IT. So, after literal years of me not writing anything in this au, I felt compelled to.
For those who haven't followed me for long, this is my most priced creation, and it's what brought me some of the best friendships I now have with so many people on here, so I do be really emotional about this. I really hope you can enjoy them as much as I used to and still do and even if I might never reply to those, feel free to send prompts and ideas, my ask box is always open.

Katherine: What did she have to say to that? Lindsey: That you couldn't take on two babies now, either, and since Paul and I have been struggle to conceive--she thought I'd jump right on board her train of adopting the twins. Katherine: [sighs] She really got to John--about the money. He picked up three extra shifts this week. I'm worried he's going to work himself to death. I don't know why she is so worried he's going to leave--he's so committed to giving these babies a good life. Lindsey: She watched your heart break once--when Mark died--she doesn't want it to happen again, that's all.
[Her sister's mentioning of Mark reminded Katherine that she had yet to tell her family that he was--in fact--alive.] Katherine: John won't break my heart--not intentionally, at least. Lindsey: You always said that about Mark. [If only Lindsey knew--that Mark had intentionally broken her heart by faking his death for a case. Suddenly, she was so angry at him that she didn't feel guilty she had not answered his texts all weekend.]
