It’s okay. Eddie can ask for this. He can want this. Isn’t it just one of the (many) points Frank’s been trying to get across? That he doesn’t have to settle for the bare minimum of whatever life hands him? That he can request and desire and, most importantly, receive. And anyway, it’s Buck. Who would be more enthusiastic to give than him? “I, uh, want you to have me,” he whispers. “I‘ve never. Not with another person, but. I want you to.” Jesus Christ, for all the confidence he started with he sure can’t seem to find any now. “It’s okay if you haven’t. If you’re asking what I think you’re asking.” Buck presses a kiss to his hair. “You can have it. But I need you to ask me.” Another soft kiss, so light that Eddie could have imagined it. “Need to be sure.” Eddie squeezes his eyes shut tight, only for a second though. Because he wants Buck to see, and maybe he wants to allow Buck to see him, here in this sacred space they’re creating. He tilts his head back, baring himself. Offering himself up for Buck to take.

“You’re not getting soft on me, are you?” Nat teases. “I might start thinking you want me for more than just my body.” Lucy snorts and rolls her eyes. “This is a one-time thing. Don’t get used to it.” “Well, if you’re interested…” She trails off, tracing a finger down the center of Lucy’s chest, over her abdomen, and dragging the sheet down as she goes. She pauses to rub the heel of her palm over Lucy’s neatly trimmed patch of coarse blond curls. Nat’s gaze turns darker, hungrier. Like she’d eat Lucy alive, which doesn’t seem like such a terrible thing. “I don’t mind going back to something more familiar. You know, in the spirit of putting you at ease.” “How very altruistic of you.”

David/Patrick - from I know all your secrets

“Don’t go.” The words are barely more than a whisper. Still, David may as well have screamed them for as raw, vulnerable and hollowed out as he feels. He bites down on the inside of his lower lip, a pitiful, broken attempt to hold himself together. If Patrick wants to leave, David won’t stop him. He’ll stay frozen in place, stone faced and unyielding, until Patrick is gone. Once upon a time he would have tried for nonchalant, but that act is no good anymore. Patrick doesn’t just mean something to him now – he is everything. Anything less and David will crack, bleeding his emotions everywhere until there’s nothing left.

Twylexis - from the with my heart in my lap wip

Twyla steadies herself, maintaining her hold on Alexis so they’re almost walking as one down the sidewalk. She’s a comforting line of warmth huddled against Alexis’s side. Her cheeks are pink and flushed from dancing, and her lips curl up in a satisfied smile. “Wasn’t that fun?” Twyla stops abruptly to look up. “That was fun.” “Yeah, doll. It was,” Alexis assures her, tapping a finger to the tip of Twyla’s nose and indulging in the soft chuckle it earns her. “Are you sure you wouldn’t rather have gone with Tommy? He was having a really great time dancing with you.” Twyla’s giddiness turns to something more subdued and vulnerable that makes Alexis’s heart twist and ache. “No, Twy.” Alexis presses a kiss to the crown of Twyla’s hair, then tilts her chin to drown in a mesmerizing sea of green. “Trust me when I say there’s nobody in there for me.”

I don’t know about you all, but I’m struggling to get in the holiday spirit this year. It’s been a rough year for a lot of people, I think. So I thought, why not share some winter/holiday fics and encourage people to do the same? So the rules are simple. Post any (or all) of your fics in any fandom that are set in and around the (northern hemisphere) winter holidays! Or southern hemisphere! I don’t care, just share some nice fics. Christmas:

Or some post-canon happily-ever-afters, both romantic and platonic?

We are the fest for you!

How Prompting Works

Between today, January 30, and February 13, you can leave prompts on AO3! Any ideas for rare or gen works can be left here for creators’ inspiration.

We will have catch-all prompts, for those who want to keep their ideas secret (instead of posting and claiming their own prompt) or for fanartists, vidders, podficcers, etc. who wants to create work for this fest that’s based off of an existing work. They will be posted after prompting closes so they are at the top.

Prompts featuring any non David/Patrick romantic relationship, whether they are canon or not-canon, or any non-romantic relationship, whether they are canon or non-canon, are welcome!

We ask that your work not be centered around the David/Patrick relationship. While it can be in the work as a background element—of course David or Patrick may talk to a friend or family member about their relationship!—we ask that your work be centered around their relationships with others. For example, what do Patrick and Stevie enjoy doing that David hates? What does a shopping spree between David and Alexis look like? Do Johnny and Patrick ever watch another baseball game together? If you have any questions about the intentions of this fest as it pertains to David/Patrick, we are happy to share more of our thoughts!

To give everyone a fair chance at claims, we will be removing claims made earlier than February 13. We will announce on Tumblr when claiming is officially open!

300 Twylexis Works On AO3: A Retrospective

(Yes, this is hugely belated, given that we’re currently at 338 works on AO3. 2022 was a bit of a crazy work year for me 😅)

First, what came before this milestone?

The first Twylexis fic, Oh Please, Not Now by in48frames, was published on December 18, 2018, and the one hundredth, all i want is you by @landofsonlali, was published on January 22, 2021! The two hundredth, ask ‘em my questions and get some answers, was published on July 23, 2021 by @lilythesilly, and the three hundreth, Selling Schitt’s Creek, was published on March 23, 2022 by @lilythesilly, @sarahlevys, @typewritess, and @nerdframed!

Twylexis Over Time

First, here’s a complete look at Twylexis works through the years, beginning in 2019 and ending at the big 300 mark. (I will be posting a follow-up of Twylexis in 2022 as well!)

Since our last milestone, it took eight months and 2 days to reach our 300th Twylexis work!

While the fandom slowed down in 2022 alongside a slowdown of the Schitt’s Creek fandom as a whole, we’re still alive and well. Check out how long it took to reach our previous milestones for comparison:

100 works: Achieved after three years, one month, and three days

200 works: Achieved after six months and one day

At 338 works as of January 3, 2023, if we continue at our current pace, we are projected to hit 400 works in May 2024.

A little Twylexis ficlet thingy I wrote today under the cut to deal with some stuff. I hope you enjoy ☺️ (fyi: if anything vaguely medical isn’t your jam maybe it’s not for you. There’s nothing explicitly discussed, more about med side effects) 💞

“Here, babe, I made you some chicken noodle soup.” Twyla carries a bowl and some crackers on a tray into their bedroom. “Do you think you can sit?”

“Yeah. Think so.” Alexis uses her hands to clutch at the sheets and push herself to a sitting position. It uses what little energy she has, but she’s hopeful that eating something will help.

“Thanks,” she adds when her wife rests the tray over her lap. There are few things Alexis looks forward to more than Twyla’s chicken noodle when she’s not feeling well.

She raises a spoonful to her lips, ready to savor every delicious bite. Instead she nearly chokes, trying not to spit it out on the duvet. The flavor is all wrong, sour and bitter rather than savory with just the right amount of saltiness.

“Nooooo,” Alexis whines, dropping her spoon on the tray. “Not the chicken noodle.”

“I’m so sorry.” Twyla takes her hand, tangling their fingers together. “I was hoping it wouldn’t start this soon. Or maybe not at all. What else can I get you?”

It feels petty and childish, but Alexis doesn’t want anything else. She wants what her wife made for her, for it to taste like it’s supposed to. The doctor told them to expect this. Still, she wants to pout and cry and demand that things go back the way they were.

“I want my soup,” she mumbles, then turns to look at Twyla, certain she looks as miserable as she feels. “This is just the beginning. What else is this stupid treatment going to take from me?”

She already knows some of the answers to that question, but pushes them from her mind.

“First of all, that stupid treatment is what’s going to get you better,” Twyla says. “I know that’s easy for me to say when you’re the one who has to go through this. But I’m going to be with you through everything, okay? If I have to make a thousand meals until we find something you like, well… that’s just what it takes.”

God, Alexis loves her.

“I know. And that means the world to me.” Alexis leans against Twyla, resting her head in the crook of her neck. “If you feel like it, can we try grilled cheese with tomato slices?”

Twyla hums and presses a kiss to the crown of her hair. “Anything for you, babe.”

Alexis lets her eyes drift closed and smiles to herself. At least nothing can take this from her.

They’re smack in the middle of the crush of bodies on the dance floor, pressed chest to chest, David’s arms slung over Patrick’s shoulders and Patrick’s arms around David’s waist, his fingertips inching up under David's sweater to get infinitesimally closer to him. He and David are dancing in a way that can really only be described as grinding, and his whole body is electrified with the thrill of being surrounded by gorgeous, sweaty men, while being allowed to actually touch the one in front of him wherever and however he wants.

Or, for Patrick's 35th birthday, David takes him to his first gay bar.

Helping his mom set up her concert at the Toronto Pride Fest sounded to David like a small price to pay for a weekend in the city. But that was before he was roped into joining the performance, which featured one very snippy lead singer.

“Ew, not you, David,” Alexis said, grabbing Patrick’s hand and yanking him along with her out into the street.

Alexis comes back to town for the annual Pride festival, spends the day palling around with her favorite brother, and comes out. Love that journey for her.

sc monthly drabble challenge: lapis

“Twy, what’s this?” Alexis asks. The stone is cool and smooth in her palm.

“It’s a lapis lazuli,” Twyla explains with a soft smile. “It’s supposed to bring peace and serenity.”

Alexis turns the deep-blue stone over in her hand. “It’s beautiful.”

“I thought you could take it with you to New York?” Twyla looks so hopeful that Alexis is powerless against those earnest green eyes.

She sets it on her new desk in her apartment in Brooklyn. When she touches it, she does feel a sense of peace because it reminds her of Twyla’s sweet smile and big heart.
