Everybody Hurts
pairings: bff!Beomgyu + bf!Yeonjun x reader
genre: hurt/comfort
tw: mental health struggles, crying
Tumblr media
Whoever said everything happens for a reason can kindly fuck off. Cause whether there’s a reason or not everything hurt. No words could comfort you in this time in your life with all that’s going on. The weight of the world, everything that’s happening that’s out of your control, everything you see on social media and TV, trying to ignore it for your own personal health but wanting to acknowledge it so you don’t feel ignorant. Dealing with your mental health but feeling like you can’t because “someone out there had it worse than you” makes you feel even worse. It’s all too much, and the idea of getting out of bed leaves your heart feeling heavy because you have the privilege of not wanting to leave your warm heated bed while other people in the world would give anything to have one. Checking your phone was like a game of chance because while you wanted to be on social media and check in on your friends, the chances of you seeing something heartbreaking on someone’s story were high. Any noise from your phone that indicated a message you ignored, cause you couldn’t bear to look at the screen of your phone anymore. You buried yourself further into your bed, going on day three of not speaking to anyone; your friends, your family, your partner, no one. You loved them, and you were grateful for their love but simply waking up every day was mentally and physically exhausting. You were pulled out of your thoughts when there was a knock on your door. Your pitch-black room was introduced to a sliver of light seeping through as your boyfriend and best friend poke their heads in.
“Y/N?” A small voice said, breaking the silence. You had no energy to move, not enough to even say hello, cause once you did, it was over.
“I tried to tell him to give you space but you know how he is,” Yeonjun slightly chuckled as Beomgyu got under the covers with you, hugging your frame tightly. You giggled when you had to blow his long hair out of your face.
“You need to cut your hair homie,” you joke as you finally move a limb to move the hair out of your face and his.
“Never!” He whispered, knowing if he spoke above a whisper your headache would become more prominent. They’ve been wanting to see you for the past few days but because of their crazy go go go schedule they didn’t have time for phone calls or daily visits. Even when they did want to see you, you didn’t have the energy to interact with anyone, and they understood. Beomgyu, on the other hand, was stubborn and needed to see his bestie right here right now.
“What can we do for you, love?” Yeonjun asked as he went in to kiss you. They knew you were struggling mentally with everything that was going on right now, and they wanted nothing more than to just be there for you,  whether that was getting you groceries or sending you coffee money or having cuddle sessions. You didn’t know, you didn’t know how to ask for help or what they could do to help you. Yeonjun got under the covers and pulled you into his arms with Beomgyu still attached to you.
“Are you okay, y/n?” Beomgyu asked. That was it. That was your last straw. You shook your head as you buried your face into Yeonjun’s shoulder, one hand gripping his shirt while the other clutched onto Beomgyu’s arm that was wrapped around your waist. Yeonjun kissed your forehead as your tears plopped onto his shirt, your body was shaking and all the pent-up frustrations and sadness were being let out as your boyfriend and best friend held you close. When you were reduced to just sniffles, Yeonjun wiped the tears from your cheek and whispered
“I know I can’t take away all of your pain, but allow us to carry some of that burden for you. You don’t have to go through any of this alone. Whatever you’re going through, your feelings are valid. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, okay?”
He read your mind so well it was kind of scary. You nodded as he held you tighter, feeling all the love warm up in your chest as the two reminded you that they were here for you.

“You fell asleep with the TV on again.”
“And what about it? You would’ve still fallen asleep.”
So this is how tonight’s gonna go… dammit.
“Y/N, wouldn’t it be easier to just.. let me be here?”
Your vision was a bit blurred from the blankets and dried tears, but you could still make out the figure of your boyfriend sitting in front of you. You could see his eyes, and what was behind them.
Annoyance.
Truly, it was mostly worry that filled Beomgyu’s eyes, but the slightest tinge of annoyance was present and that was all you could see.
He was sick of this. Of course he was. You’ve been glued to this couch for the past day and a half, only getting up to use the restroom. Food? No. Shower? No. Water? Only because Beomgyu brings you a water bottle every now and then.
To be fair though, you slowly fell into this state over the course of two weeks. So at the very least, the switch was such a shock to you.
Nor to your boyfriend.
“Baby, I’m trying my best for you here, the least you could do is tell me what’s on your mind, yeah?”
Even that’s too much for you right now. No one asked him to stick around, you definitely haven’t. Why would he put himself through this? Does he pity you that much?
“Then leave. I never asked you to bother with this sack of shit. Door’s right over there, Gyu.”
You didn’t dare meet his eyes as these sour words left your chapped lips.
“I never asked you to deal with how hard it’s been for us because of promotions, tours, late night practices, performances, have I? Why do you stay if I never asked you to?”
Your tongue felt knotted, blocking thoughts from becoming words with each breath. You know the answer, but for it to be reciprocated felt nearly– no, entirely impossible.
“I care about you, Gyu, I truly do. I love you, but this is different.”
“How is it different?”
“You’re out working on your career, making the most out of what’s being given to you, and here I am, rotting into this lump of leather. Tell me how us two compare to each other, it must be exhausting for you to waste any of the energy that you have at the end of the day when dealing with me.”
There was silence for a few moments as the man in front of you allowed your words, and his anguish, settle in.
“...What have I done to make you feel like this?” Beomgyu was fighting tears, but you didn’t notice. You still were focused on the wooden floorboards where your nearly empty water bottle sat.
“You must be feeling so over it. Over me. I was fine a while ago, but here I am again. Disgusting, not knowing what to feel other than hopeless. Not really sure about what. And everytime you see me on this damn couch, you have got to be annoyed. I know that I sure as hell would be if I saw myself fall into the same spot over and over again. Hell, I am fucking tired of this. So, I truly don’t understand why you’re still here, can you please just–”
“Please don’t finish that sentence.”
You wanted to oppose your boyfriend’s words, but a small hiccup made your head involuntarily jerk towards Beomgyu’s face.
He was crying. You made him cry.
He wiped his cheek with the sleeve of his blue hoodie, letting out a dry chuckle, “I’m gonna be honest, that was a little mean, Y/N. I wish you wouldn’t see me like that.”
It was like a bucket of ice water was hurled at you, a breath of fresh air being sucked into your lungs. The weight of your epiphany almost made you collapse onto your tear-stained pillow.
Mean. That’s how your view of Beomgyu is being interpreted. Someone who’s so cruel and lacking sympathy when seeing their partner doesn’t bring them worry nor the desire to stick by their side. But rather it brings upon waves of disgust and resentment. Was that how you thought of Beomgyu as a boyfriend? As a person?
No. Absolutely not. Quite the opposite, in fact. You’ve never met someone as patient as Beomgyu, someone who would drop everything they were doing to simply listen to your word vomit for thirty minutes, someone who was willing to understand your state of mind and navigate such treacherous waters.
He was the most amazing person you’ve had the joy of meeting.
And you made him think otherwise.
“Oh Gyu… No. No, no, no, no.”
You felt your limbs surge with newfound energy to slide off the couch and reach towards Beomgyu, who kept a solemn expression.
“I’m sorry. I truly am, from the bottom of my heart. You didn’t deserve that, you’ve been doing everything you could, I’m so grateful baby..”
“Then why do you refuse me? You almost shun me from this place whenever you feel like this. I want to be next to you through anything the world or the mind may throw at us.”
“It’s hard for me to accept the fact that I actually have support, I guess.. It’s not just me by myself this time..”
“And it’s never gonna be just you. We can rot on this couch together.”
You chuckled, knowing that’s not really what either of you want. “I think the ground will suffice for now.” You placed a chaste kiss on Beomgyu’s cheek and rubbed his back.
“I don’t see you like that. I never have, but I am scared that one day you might. But you never disappointed me, you have never hurt me, you never not cared for me. Gyu, my heart will be yours as long as I’m still remembered.”
You took a deep breath to calm your nerves as you began again, “I’m going to trust you won’t ruin it.”
He stared at you in awe, not only from admiration at how well you were able to articulate yourself finally after nearly a week of not being able to do so, but also from how thankful to hear such a confession. He knew how difficult it’s been for you to fully trust someone with your endearments, and to be that someone? His heart was soaring among the clouds and stars.
“Y/N, I’ll protect your heart with everything I have. I only ask for one thing.”
As sweet as the reconciliation was, Beomgyu was still hurt from the words earlier, rightfully so.
“Please don’t take your emotions out on me. I don’t want to become your go-to release. I want you to be able to talk to me but not yell. Promise me that we’ll learn how to talk these types of things out?”
You nodded along as he spoke, truly reflecting on what he was saying and brainstorming ways to be able to prevent such conflicts. You had work to do, and you wanted to be the best partner and person for Beomgyu you can be. And honestly…
You wanted to be the best person for yourself too.
“I promise, Gyu.” You pressed tiny kisses along the palm of his left hand.
Giggles invaded the room as he leaned towards your face and pressed several kisses on your face in return. Soft embraces as the two bodies fell over as you relished in each other’s comfort. You wiped any remaining tears from your boyfriend’s cheeks and kissed him once more.
“I love you so much.”
“And I love you so much more.”
- Two months later -
The two of you sat on a bench at a park near your apartment, the weather was chilly and the moon was shimmering in brilliance. You had just come back from a celebratory dinner with your coworkers after receiving a promotion, and Beomgyu had recently been given a week long vacation after a successful comeback.
Your head found its place on your boyfriend’s shoulder, you mindlessly twirled the ring that had recently met your left finger. A promise ring. You still haven’t wrapped your head around the fact that after such a long line of heartbreaks and hurt, you had found someone who would become the support to your foundation, and to be there when there’s some instability.
You looked up at the night sky and learned that even in the light-polluted city of Seoul, among the stars there was always one being who’s spirit never diminished when you look at it.
And he was sitting right next to you, nodding off into a sweet slumber.

Apple Picking R!🐻🐧
✦✧✦✧ Ageretober Day 5 (Injury) ✦✧✦✧
Summary: Beomgyu takes a big tumble while out and about with Soobin, Yeonjun and Kai.
Word Count: 2,590
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beomgyu was all smiles and laughter as he stared up a the two horses pulling a hay ride at the apple orchard. They were both beautiful. One was a shiny chestnut brown, and the other a sandy color with lighter speckles that covered her back and neck. He was in a small line waiting to pet one with Soobin before they would get on the long cart waiting to take them. When it was finally their turn, Beomgyu held back his shrill giddy noises and stepped carefully closer to the first horse. He stood quietly but full of awe and excitement.
“Hi, baby.” He said sweetly, slowly raising his hand up to the side of the horses face, watching her reaction incase she didn’t want to be pet anymore.
The horse didn’t flinch. She was clearly very socialized. Still, Beomgyu took his time and moved cautiously. He couldn’t stop smiling as he stroked the bridge of the horse’s big nose, eventually going further down near her nose. Soobin was a little nervous to get too close, so he stood a couple feet back, recording Beomgyu’s precious encounter.
“You’re so pretty. Do you know that? So cute and friendly!” Beomgyu cooed to the animal. He would’ve stayed there all day if there wasn’t another person waiting for him to finish. He wanted to braid flowers into the horses long mane, feed her treats, take her home…
“Okay, I have to go now. Bye, horsey.” Beomgyu said very quietly to his friend. (She was his friend now)
He looked back at Soobin with a big grin and giggled out of how happy he felt. The horse on the other side was getting some of its gear adjusted, so he couldn’t say hello to both of them. Soobin took a quick picture of the horse and rejoined the others with Beomgyu. Yeonjun had an undisclosed fear of horses, so he stayed back with Kai, who was too shy to greet the horse in front of everyone else. Besides, there were rocks in the wide dirt path for him to inspect.
“We lived, hyung.” Soobin commented sarcastically.
“I can see that. From here it looked like Gyu was telepathically communicating with the horse.” Yeonjun chuckled. Beomgyu ran up to him and squealed, grabbing both of his hands and bouncing.
“I got so close! She was so pretty! Go pet her, she’s not scary!” He pointed back in the direction of the horse enthusiastically. Everyone needed to meet that horse.
“I’m all set. Looks like the last group his saying hi to her now. We should get on.” Yeonjun said. He was correct. When Beomgyu turned his head to make sure what he was saying was true, a few people were petting horse.
“Okayy…C’mon Kai!”
Beomgyu hopped over to where Kai was still crouched near the ground and grabbed his hand, pulling him up and towards the hayride. He was taken aback by the sudden grab and whined at Beomgyu.
“Gentle Beomgyu, he doesn’t like being rough.” Yeonjun chided, as he followed them up the three wooden steps onto the wagon.
Beomgyu plopped down with Kai on a free hay bale and directed Soobin and Yeonjun to sit on either side of them. Kai snuggled up to Yeonjun’s arm when he sat down and observed the people around them, the cat ears on his cream colored hat poking Yeonjun’s throat. There weren’t too many, and since they were in such a small town, in the middle of nowhere america, the likelihood of getting recognized was slim. That was why they were in such an obscure state they had never heard of. It gave them some more freedom. No one really paid any attention to them, only when they noticed how they were speaking a different language. That also had its perks. It meant that he and Beomgyu could talk however they wanted and no one would know how childish it really was.
“Are you having fun?” Yeonjun asked, already knowing the answer. Kai nodded with a smile.
A couple minutes later and they were moving. The ride down the road that passed the sections of trees that weren’t available to be picked from was bumpy. Kai held on extra tight to Yeonjun and turned his head to look out behind them at what they were passing. Beomgyu was thrilled to bits. Soobin had to keep his arm around his waist to prevent him from getting to excited and moving around so much that he fell out. That wasn’t out of the realm of possibility when it came to Beomgyu. The ride was short and they were slowing down before they knew it. Everyone got off and headed out in different directions with their friends and family to whatever apples they preferred.
The wooden signs were placed at the end of each long row of trees, but the writing was very worn and hard to read. Soobin unfolded a little map he was given when they laid for the bags and quirked his head. The names of the sections were very peculiar. He had no idea that there were so many kinds of apples.
“I want sweet ones.” Came Kai’s small voice next to his shoulder.
“I know the yellow ones are sweet and they’re further down from here…These red ones might be sweet? I’m not sure what these names are.” Soobin rambled partially to himself.
“Let’s just taste ‘em!” Beomgyu blurted out, listening in on what he had been mumbling.
“If you taste one you don’t like, then what?” Yeonjun asked.
“You eat it for me?” Beomgyu said hopefully. Yeonjun couldn’t deny, it was endearing to hear. He gave him an unsure response and handed him his own bag to collect apples in.
“Let’s go look for yellow apples.”
Yeonjun and Beomgyu took the lead down the dusty gravel path, while Kai waddled along beside Soobin. They found them quickly and stepped into the long row of trees that held plenty of fruit. Beomgyu skipped ahead and ducked underneath some lower branches and popped back up, his head poking through some leaves. He found a good looking apple and did what the sign’s at the entrance said, “Twist and pull!” Pop! The apple easily came off the branch.
“Hyungie! I got one!” Beomgyu announced, barely visible.
“Nice job!” Yeonjun called back, as he was helping Kai unfold his bag.
When he looked up, Kai had an apple covered in dirt and grass up to his mouth. Before Yeonjun could react, he mindlessly took a bite.
"Hey! Spit that out!" Soobin scolded, knocking the apple from his hand and holding his chin. "Kai, that's yucky. Spit it out."
Kai whined and spat out the chewed up mush. Soobin stepped back in relief and shook his head.
“Okay, here you go, baby. Look there’s some right here!” He said like a teacher to Kai, strategically redirecting him before he got upset. He pointed to a branch on the tree closest to their right where three apples were ready to pick, encouraging the shy boy along.
Kai scratched his head and unsurely touched one of the apples. It looked yummy. He tried to pull, but it stayed attached to the branch that rustles when it moved. Kai looked back at Yeonjun for help, but he was taking selfies with Soobin. He noticed Beomgyu’s burgundy long sleeve through the leaves of the trees on the other side of the row, and shuffle his way.
“Beomie ‘elp.” Kai said innocently. His voice clearly wasn’t loud enough to reach Beomgyu’s ears, because he started looking up through the tree branches and turned in towards the trunk.
Beomgyu had a plan. There was a cluster of apples way up high that he wanted to reach. They were big and bright from soaking in all the extra sunlight they were exposed to. The branches of the tree seemed strong enough to hold him, so he held on to one above his head and climbed onto another below it. Kai shoved himself through the leaves to see why Beomgyu didn’t answer him. He swatted away the leaves that cling to his hat and quirked his head at what he saw.
“Where’you going?” Kai questioned. Beomgyu glanced down at him and hoisted himself up another two feet.
“To get the best apples you’ve ever seen.” Beomgyu said, focusing on his next move, as bark sprinkled down from his shoes scraping the beaches.
Kai silently watched him go higher and higher. In reality, Beomgyu was about eight feet above the ground, but it felt like a lot more to both him and Kai. There were still plenty of height to the tree, but Beomgyu was at a good spot where he was high enough to get to the apples. He inches away from the tree trunk and held another branch to keep his balance. With his free hand he reached out and…his fingertips didn’t even brush the skin of the apples. He tried again, grunting from stretching his arm so far and managed to tap the top of it for second before retracting back. Beomgyu sighed. This was much harder than he expected.
He looked at the rest of the branch in front of him and decided not to move his feet any closer because the branch looked too thin to hold him past a certain point. All he could do was try to reach out even further than before. Beomgyu scrunched up his facial muscles with determination and stretched out as far as he could, feeling the strain in his shoulder. He shut one eye and felt his fingers graze one of the apples. He nearly had it! All he had to do was move a little closer and-
Beomgyu’s foot slipped, and the weight of his upper body leaning forward caused him to crash to the ground. The smaller branches scratched his cheeks and neck going down, and made loud crrshhh shhhss noises. The air knocked out of his chest when he landed face first, a fallen apple on the ground jamming into his thigh. Kai gasped and yelped, watching the scene play out in a split second. He froze.
“Boys?! Beomgyu? Kai?” Yeonjun’s voice called out to them after hearing the alarming sound of a thud. Soobin turned frantically, trying to locate either of them, but there were so many dense trees all around.
Beomgyu neurons snapped out of the state of shock and he wheezed in a short, painful breath that made him choke. The adrenaline rush surged rapidly through his body as he processed what had just happened. He coughed and wheezed a second time, trying to hold up his head and chest from the ground, only to slip back down.
“There!” Yeonjun pointed to the ears of Kai’s hat peeking through some leaves. He and Soobin rushed forward and held branches out of the way to see what happened.
“Kai! Honey, what happened?!”
“Eh!” Kai whimpered with watery eyes, pointing ahead where Beomgyu laid on the ground.
“Oh my god!” Yeonjun and Soobin gasped simultaneously. They maneuvered through the leaves and branches to reach Beomgyu and knelt down.
“Did you fall? Beomgyu, what happened?”
“Are you hurt?”
Beomgyu made a tiny shrill sound and inhaled another thin, shaky breath. It hurt to breathe, now that he regained feeling in his body. Soobin manually rolled him over and looked over him in a panic, moving the hair out of his face and cupping the back of his head. He was covered in small scratches and trembling beneath them.
“It’s okay, we’ve got you. Tell us what happened, baby.” Yeonjun tried to reassure him, although he didn’t know what happened to have Beomgyu end up in the state he was in.
The younger coughed on his tears and started sobbing, his brain and body finally reconnecting in entirety. He could feel each scratch stinging his face, and a hot, pulsing, pain in his thigh. Plus, the shock of losing his balance so high up left him an emotional mess. Soobin carefully helped Beomgyu upright and sat behind him so he could lay back on his chest. He didn’t make any complaints of pain, which meant he was probably okay for the most part.
“Shh shh shhhhh. Breathe, sweetheart.” Soobin soothed gently, dragging his fingers through his hair to get rid of the leaves stuck in it. Beomgyu hiccuped in and out a few steadier breaths until he could inhaled properly between each cry.
“A-Appaaa!” He wailed. Yeonjun hushed him softly and held his face in his hands.
“It’s okay, baby. I’m right here. It’s okay. Let’s try to calm down a little bit.”
After consoling him for a few minutes and being joined by a tearfully worried Kai, Beomgyu was able to somewhat explain what happened. He didn't tell them that in the back of his head he knew what he did was a bad idea, but he did tell them that he fell. When they asked why he was so high up in one of the trees, he simply pointed up to where they could see the cluster of apples hanging far above their heads. Soobin and Yeonjun shared a disappointed yet amused look once they understood.
"I see. I think you learned your lesson, so I won't lecture you. Can you show me where you're hurting, please?" Soobin asked.
"Here, and all over here." Beomgyu mumbled, pointing to his thigh and gesturing around his face in a circle.
"You got pretty scratched up on your face. Let's see the damage here, though."
Soobin rolled up the left leg of Beomgyu's plain gym shorts and took a look at it. It was highly unlikely that he broke any bones from the way he fell, since none of his limbs took the majority of the impact. All that was there was a off colored, redish splotch on his thigh.
"I think it's just a bad bruise, or it will be by tomorrow. You must've landed on a rock."
"Or an apple." Yeonjun added, since they were surrounded by them under the tree.
Either way, it would leave a mark. They decided to go back to the house immediately after crawling out from the trees they were sitting under. Soobin carried Beomgyu, who was still shaking some, all the way back to the car. When they got home and came inside with only eleven apples, Taehyun, who stayed back due to allergies, was very underwhelmed.
"Is this it?" He asked, eyeing the empty bag Kai was still holding. "Did he even get any?"
"Long story short, taking Beomgyu to a field of climbable trees was a bad idea. We looked away for two minutes and he was up and down again on his stomach." Yeonjun explained bluntly, sighing at how absurd it sounded.
"He fell?!"
"Yeah...he's fine, though. I think Kai is more upset about it than he is at this point. It knocked the wind out of him and he has a bruise and some scratches, but that's it. No broken bones."
"Oh my god..." Taehyun stared at him. "Where is he?"
"Nurse Soobin is patching him up." Yeonjun said, pulling the hat off Kai's head when he appeared beside him and headbutted his shoulder.
Kai saw the bag of apples and grabbed one to bring to Beomgyu.
"No doctors." He murmured to the others, taking a bite to test the flavor before scampering off.
"At least that one wasn't on the ground." The eldest sighed.
"Did he-?"
"Yes. Yes he did."

★ my love, mine all mine
Tumblr media
Nothing is certain in this world.
This is something you know for sure; the realization hit particularly hard when lay-offs were happening at your job and you were the first to be on the chopping block.
You spent days stuck in bed, miserable and unsure of what to do next, staring blankly ahead with tired eyes. You'd worked your ass off for years just to be reminded that you're easily replaceable. You loved your job, that love clearly wasn't returned.
But Taehyun... Oh, your sweet Taehyun.
No one loves you, takes your hand and leads you out of the darkness, like Taehyun does.
Taehyun sits on the bed, alongside you and your grief. He rubs your back as you sob for what feels like hours. You still get embarrassed when you cry in front of him, even after all these years, but he doesn't mind. He's seen you in moments much worse than this, bent over a toilet vomiting after a bad night out, or when you pushed him away because you thought you weren't good enough... You still don't think you're good enough for him, but what he said to you that night reverberates through your head in times like these.
"That's for me to decide. I want to stay, so let me stay with you, Y/N. Please."
He wants to stay.
There's nothing you want more than for him to stay.
"Taehyun," you call for your boyfriend, voice quiet and pleading.
"Honey?" he responds warmly.
"C-Can you hold me?"
He doesn't give a verbal answer, but the sudden shifting of the bed and his strong, warm arms around you give you all the answer you need. You close your eyes and suddenly, you're crying all over again.
You're so thankful for him, so thankful you have each other.

Not A Walk In the Park

AN: I don’t see myself writing a second part any time soon, so for now it’s going to be left open ended
≫ ──── ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ ──── ≪
Fighting wasn't a usual occurrence between the two of you. Communication was something you both valued. You guys even took pride in being good at ever since your relationship started. However, that fact didn't seem to apply to today.
Things were said that either neither of you meant, the words thrown around almost as if they meant nothing. But, the sting was real.
It happened to be a long day for you, wanting nothing more than to curl up into your boyfriends arms for the rest of the night and sleep. It always helped you forget the rest of the world for a while when he would hold you tight.
On the other hand, Yeonjun seemed to have extremely different plans.
He himself had a long day but his consisted of constant vocal and dance rehearsal. He just wanted some time to himself to think. Not about anything in particular yet everything at the same time.
However, Yeonjun had trouble vocalizing that today. He was overstimulated and didn't know how to explain was he was feeling in sensible words. As a result things took an awkward turn.
You pushed the door to your shared apartment quickly, throwing your bag aside and kicking off your shoes like you usually do, letting out a deep sigh.
Yeonjun sat with his back to you on the couch, he had his hands in his lap and his head held down. His long black hair covering the look on his face. The news channel was on, but the volume was on mute, something that was very unusual.
To you it looked like your boyfriend could use some cuddles. Maybe you were a bit bias because you wanted them yourself, but when you threw your arms around him from behind, you thought nothing more of it.
On the other hand, he became agitated immediately, his posture straightening back up fast as he reached around himself to push you away.
"Baby?... What's the matter my love?" You were confused when you asked, walking around to the other side of the couch so you could see his face clearly.
You tried to reach out for his hands that were again placed in his lap balled up into fists, wanting to hold them for reassurance. But his face scrunched up in disgust.
He harshly swatted away your hands, "Why do you always have to be so fucking clingy all the time... jeez!" He said loudly with an exaggerated sigh as he stood up from the couch.
"Excuse me?" You asked defensively, your own emotions starting to bubble up as you took a step back from his towering figure.
"You heard me. Just fuck off and leave me alone, I'm tired. I don't need you making it worse like you always do." He grumbled, now walking away from you.
Now it was your turn to be upset, he couldn't just say things like that and expect everything to be all okay.
"Your not the only one who gets to have hard days around here Mr. 'I'm more Important"' you shot back.
You had to admit, you were being childish, but it was hard to think rationally when all your feelings started crumbling. You were only trying to be nice and this is how he repays you?
"See! There you go again, blaming me for everything! Last time I checked, your not the idol around here. You just work some god damn low life job and get away with it because your in a relationship with me." He yelled, rolling his eyes and continuing to walk to your shared bedroom. He slammed the door shut without another word.
You groaned in frustration after the loud slam reverberated through the house, he's never raised his voice at you before let alone insult you like that.
You didn't want to think anymore once you felt the tears already start to fill your water line. You knew you had to leave, at least for the night, swearing that you would suffocate if you stayed there any longer.
Putting on your shoes quickly, your adrenaline running fast, you made your way out of the apartment. you couldn't think straight as thoughts flooded your mind.
'I'm I annoyingly clingy?' 'Does he really think I'm just using him for money?' 'Does he think he's actually that much better than me?' And worst of all... 'Did he fall out of love?'
Letting your feet take the lead and your brain take a back row seat, you had no idea where you were going.
You had nowhere to go. Nobody to run to. You uprooted your whole life for Yeonjun, moving away from your family and friends so you both could find a place closer to his own job at the studio. He was the only safe space you knew., but he went and threw it all away with just a few words.
It was getting dark, but by now you had an idea of where you wanted to go. There was a park a few blocks away, a very beautiful one at that. One that you had many dates at with Yeonjun, but that's besides the point.
By the time you made it there, you weren't running anymore. Tears stained your cheeks and you were out of breath. You don't remember letting them fall because you tried to hold them back, but you felt better getting them out.
Finding a secluded bench, in the corner of a small flower field, you felt a little bit better curling up onto it. Your knees curled into your chest as the small lamp on the path illuminated the flowers around you. They calmed you momentarily until a sob escaped your throat when you remembered why you were here in the first place.
- To Be Continued

I'm sorry, but I'm absolutely enamored with the idea of Ramon pulling this on Bullfrog to soothe him to sleep; particularly whenever he's having trouble falling asleep or just outright refuses to. Bullfrog wasn't able to protect his other comrades, and something tells me he doesn't want to lose anyone else and is willing to miss out on sleep if it meant keeping Ramon safe. Little does he know that Ramon can be just as stubborn, if not more-so.
Doing this to a frog puts them in a very vulnerable position, but I think Bullfrog would come to a point where he trusts Ramon and wouldn't have the heart to be too upset once he wakes up. Even if it was a bit of a nasty trick to pull, the intentions were sweet. <3

anyone else after some angsty feels and bad parents buckley vibes? the episode is bookended by buck's parents being disappointed in him: not only is he late for the wedding he's missing the groom and threw a messy bachelor party the groom didn't want - and if he hadn't thrown it he would've realised chimney was missing/unwell a lot sooner. then it ends with buck taking focus off his sister once again with an attention grabbing move of bringing a male date to the hospital who he was clearly just making out with. *shake their heads*

Hello! Honestly you're the first acc i think of when it comes to writing hurt/comfort because of your fics. They're amazing and so so relatable.
tw//depression
If your requests are open, can I please request a Yeonjun fic? My depressive episodes have been coming back lately so I felt like I kinda needed this.
I just want some comfort fic with Yeonjun where his s/o feel like they're not good enough and have trouble releasing out their problems to him and feels like they're just so pathetic and weak and feel like a burden to everyone.
Sorry I just wanted to know how someone who genuinely loves someone would react and say if their s/o was going through such things. I might just be self projecting here as well tho my bad 😅
But! Incase you aren't taking up requests, that's perfectly fine as well so please don't feel pressured. Your other fics are honestly so comforting and nice so it's totally fine. I hope the day will be nicer to you when you read this <33
hehe hi i'm sorry this took so long, also sorry if it's not as great as you'd like, i had a bit of writer's block,, requests are still open!!

‘Why do we, the people, believe we can overcome anything?’
‘What gives us the will to keep on going, even with 200, 300, even 1000 tons upon our weak shoulders?’
‘Well, we’ll never truly know the answer.’
‘As it is different for every person, and their own experiences threaded into their memories.’
That was the big takeaway? A three hour lecture on a Monday morning, and that was all it had to offer? This was where your money was going towards?
Great. Fantastic. Absolutely amazing.
You sighed and packed up your journal and writing utensils, tossing them into your bookbag, and walked out of the dreary lecture hall. You still had three more classes today, with little to no break in between any of them, and to top it all off: They all lasted more than an hour each.
-Four hours later-
You felt stupid.
No, you felt incapable.
The fact that your train of thought had steadied itself for so long, so long. Only for it to collide into a wall that you didn’t even know was there.
It was embarrassing,
You felt embarrassed.
You are embarrassing.
No matter how much you kept looking through notes, dissecting every word that came out of the professors’ mouths, nothing stuck.
It was like you never even went to lecture.
How could you be investing so much energy, so much money, and your mind couldn’t muster the ability to even learn anything?
Honestly, how stupid could you get?
And then you really started to think.
It already felt like you were never in lecture.
Was it worth it?
Honestly if one were to truly sit down and think, would one day really hurt?
And that’s how it started.
Just one day.
Then it turned into three days.
Then seven.
Twelve.
It’s been three weeks since you last went to a lecture, let alone the dining hall or any university events.
You’ve just been sitting, lying down, pacing, any type of movement really. But it never left the four walls of your dorm.
It was just you.
For three weeks.
Then, at 3am, there was a pounding at the door that jolted you awake. If it’s the fucking RA asking about another incident, you were gonna resort to sleeping at a motel.
“Y/N?”
That voice… Is it..?
“Y/N, please open up, I saw your lights on from the window outside. Please, love?”
It was him.
As you walked towards the door to let your boyfriend inside, you saw a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.
There stood a wrinkled shirt from weeks ago, sweatpants with holes torn from being snagged onto door handles a few too many times, and a ghastly face. One that read nothing but despair, one that barely passed as alive even.
Are you really going to face Yeonjun like this?
After not seeing each other for a month?
Is this really who he deserves to see after spending such a long time in another country for an abroad study?
Unfortunately, your doubts were cut short because of the sound of keys jingling.
You had forgotten that you gave him a spare key a few months ago, who knew how difficult that would make things in the future.
“Y/N? Is everything alright? Soobin told me you haven’t showed up to Literature in almost a month..”
“Not the only one.”
“And Beomgyu asked me why you’ve been skipping out on History and lunch with him.”
“The dining hall is expensive..”
“On top of that, Taehyun and Kai asked if you dropped your Statistics lecture.”
“Okay!! Fine!! I haven’t taken a single fucking step out of this dorm in a month, so fucking what!?!”
There wasn’t another voice to be heard for minutes at a time, only the sound of an exhausted fan.
You hadn’t meant for that to be aloud. Honestly, you just wanted it to pass through your mind and move on.
But the look in Yeonjun’s eyes. There wasn’t a chance that this could pass like the clouds beyond the glass window.
“This isn’t because of me right?”
You resorted to sitting on your bed, internally stuttering as you worked to put together a response.
“I know I was gone for a while but.. It didn’t mean I stopped caring, I thought about you every day.. Y/N, what happened?”
You used a blanket to try and muffle your sobs, this felt pathetic. Yeonjun telling you how he feels and you not saying anything did nothing to ease his worries.
“Please Y/N, give me something.. Anything, I need to know how I can be there for you..”
“Junnie, I’m honestly fine.. It’s just something stupid, I’ll get over it soon.”
At this point your boyfriend stood in front of you, grabbing your hands, “Baby, we both know it’s more than that.. It’s just you and I here. The world is deaf right now, anything you tell me tonight will stay with us. I want to listen to you, whether it’s your happiest moments or your darkest troubles.”
A smile forced its way to your face, although small, the little sparks you feel with Yeonjun returned. Oh, it was such a comforting feeling, as if taking off a sleeping mask after a long slumber, your soul welcomed the light.
“It’s not really that dramatic, love. I just.. um.. How do I say this..”
“Try not to downplay what you feel, it’s real. Your struggles are real, I think saying it’s dumb or not a big deal would make it harder to talk about, yeah?” As he spoke, his hands ran through stray pieces of hair. If he noticed how oily it became, Yeonjun said nothing about it.
“Okay.. well… It became harder to understand, like, what was going on? I don’t know, it just seemed like anything a professor would say, I never got it. Like, I just couldn’t make sense of anything being said.”
You took a breath as Yeonjun finally joined you on the edge of your mattress, “I’m listening.”
“I guess I thought that there was no point in going to lectures if I couldn’t understand what was happening, but I didn’t want to ask any of the guys for help or my friends. I don’t know, it just felt like a bother since everyone has been so stressed lately.. Who would want to take the time to help me?”
Silence filled the air again, but the air didn’t feel as thick, as Yeonjun thought about what to say, you still felt safe.
“I understand, baby. I think when we first met, one of the things I admired about you was how often you took into account how others around you felt. How selfless you are, it’s an incredible part of you, but it’s not the only thing about you. You’ve never given up, not truly. Even now I still don’t believe you’ve completely lost hope. It’s just on pause because of how overwhelming everything suddenly became.”
You nodded as you processed his words, it made sense.
“But when the time comes and you feel ready to press play again, we can rewind the tapes again and pick up where we left off. The world is moving fast, no doubt, but I like to believe that we move at the same pace as each other.”
Yeonjun’s shoulder was met with a playful nudge as you got shy from his remark, “Hey! I’m telling the truth here, no matter how sappy it is! You’re my Y/N, and don’t you worry, we’ll both be back on track in no time, I think I’m still sixteen hours behind but I’ll catch on, so will you.”
A genuine laugh left your lips, it felt nice. Wherever he was, Choi Yeonjun brought the warmth to your life that was permanent, even when the moon was paired with the chilly air that blew through the sleeping cities. The two of you were awake, the two of you were here, and as you shared a sweet kiss, you knew that it would be enough to go to one lecture tomorrow.
Because as Yeonjun promised, you would go at your own pace.

Sunshine- Lee Seokmin
ray of sunshine dk x classmate reader
angst? comfort
word count: 1157 (series??)
dk is known to be such a happy person, but how come you walk into your classroom and see a different version of him you’ve never seen before.
Tumblr media
Lee Seokmin, also known as Dk. Was the school's funniest guy, and it was honestly the truth everyone loved him because of his happiness and how he always brings a smile to everyone’s faces. He was loud, you have to admit but even the teachers couldn’t get too annoyed after he disrupts the lessons as he makes them laugh and smile.
So how come this all so ray of sunshine was in front of you crying on his desk.
Your classrooms are locked at lunchtime, but you forgot your wallet to pay for food so you were given the keys , but to your surprise the door was open and you noticed Dk head down on the desk.
His body was shaking, he sounded like he was trying to catch his breathe, but his sobs began to get louder and louder.
You were worrying a bit, you weren’t particularly close to him, but you were close enough to say hi around school, and sometimes due to mutual friends would hang out outside of school. But you knew you weren’t close enough for him to explain why he’s crying.
‘Seokmin,’ you whisper gently tapping his back, you just couldn’t resist walking in and out on him in this unknown state, ‘is everything okay?’ Stupid question but what else could you of said.
He jumps up ,startled at your touch and your presence. His eyes were red, and puffy, lunch had only been an hour in but you could tell he’s been crying all day, even possible all night. But how come you didn’t notice earlier?
He wipes his tears away, and smiles. A forced smile. That began to twitch and more tears began to block his view.
You didn’t know what to say in this moment, but you decide to rummage in your coat pocket and found a packet of unopened tissues.
It’s currently winter and you always get very bad colds, so your mum makes you carry tissues around all the time, sometimes you don’t touch them for weeks.
You place the tissues on his desk.
He began to weep harder.
He props up his elbows on the desk, and face in hands.
‘Thank you y/n.’ He whispers.
You smile, and gently rub his back, you notice he takes a tissue out of the packet and rubs his eyes, you feel a bit more happier knowing he won’t use his sweatshirts sleeves anymore which is probably another reason for the redness around his eyes.
‘Seokmin, you don’t have to tell me what’s wrong, but I want you to know I am here for you. Whatever is going on I’m rooting for you and I’m by your side whatever journey your going through.’
The silence is broken off by more weeping and his stomach making a grumble sound.
‘Have you eaten yet?’ You asked worriedly.
He shaked his head, you decide to do what you originally came for and get your purse.
‘Seokmin, I will only be 2 minutes I promise, let me buy you something.’
Before he could turn down your offer you left the room. You felt guilty for leaving him in his sadden state, but you would of felt worst if you left him in hunger.
And you were 2 minutes, the queue was empty. You came in and out with 2 chicken sandwiches and 1 banana milk and 1 strawberry milk, you couldn’t decide which Dk would have liked so you got a choice for him.
You walked back into the classroom hoping he hasn’t left, and he hasn’t , in the same position but this time he’s on his phone.
‘ I brought you a chicken sandwich and you can choose the milk!’ You exclaim , happy to see there is no more tears on his face. And that the tissue packet is half empty on the table.
‘You honestly didn’t have to get me anything, I wasn’t that hungry.’ He said with a smile, an honest smile, watching you sit in front of him and placing the sandwiches and milks in between you both. He chose the banana one which made you happy inside as you only liked the strawberry ones.
You open your sandwich and take a bite, which he mirrors. It was silent but it was comfortable. It wasn’t awkward one bit.
You both finished your sandwiches and were drinking your milks until the silence was broken.
‘Y/n’
‘Mhm’
‘Can you not tell anyone about earlier please.’ He requested.
‘Of course not, don’t worry your secret is safe with me.’ Sticking out your pinky finger, he takes it and wraps his and you both burst into laughter.
‘Also Y/n’
‘Mhm’ you reply, looking up at him.
‘Why do you not call me by my nickname? I mean I don’t mind but no one in school calls me Seokmin anymore.’ His muddled expression makes you grin.
‘Hmm to be honest I don’t know why, but saying Seokmin rolls off my tongue better ? You get me? When I say Dk it sounds too forced.’ You reply by making a disgusted face in a jokey way which he responded with nodding and giggling a little bit.
‘Fair enough.’ He says now with a big smile, looking back at his phone.
✮ ✮ ✮
‘Dk? Broo we have been looking for you the whole of lunch, have you been here the whole time?’ You turn your head to see that Cheol was standing at the door. Cheol was one of your mutual friends so when he saw you two together he was a bit confused but didn’t think much about it and just shot you a smile.
‘Cheol did you find him?’ You hear Soonyoungs voice, he peeks his head around the door and shouts.
‘DK I MISSED YOU, DONT LEAVE US AGAIN AT LUNCH!!’
Soonyoung runs in and gives Dk, who was still sitting down, a massive bear hug.
‘Soonyoung don’t worry it was only this one time’ Dk replies in laughter.
But what he said made you happy, you did hope this his last time being sad , as you didn’t like seeing such a happy soul upset. But you couldn’t control this.
‘Oh hi y/n!’ Soonyoung says once realising you were in the room.
‘OHHHHH!’ Soonyoung screams again this time you covered your ears since he was very close.
‘Y/n was tutoring you? I heard Miss Smith was looking for a maths tutor for you, so she decided on y/n’ he looked at us waiting for confirmation but before we could say anything, someone else walks through the door.
‘Guys please come, the younger years are joining us and the teams are uneven numbers, Soobins group and Chris’ are joining up.’ Jun states panting and gripping on the door for support, it seemed as if he ran across the whole field to deliver this important message.
‘DK LETS GO BEAT THEM!!!’ Soonyoung screams once again which made everyone laugh.
Dk looks at you as he stands up and mouths a ‘thank you’.
You just nodded your head with a smile in response.

make you feel alright
Tumblr media
SUMMARY You weren’t looking, but you’ve found a gap in the clouds.
PAIRING choi soobin x gender neutral!reader
GENRE established relationship, slight hurt/comfort
WORD COUNT 1k
WARNINGS none
AUTHOR’S NOTE i'm incredibly love deprived i need a soobin in my life. this is very self-indulgent, lowkey a rant, and inspired by yellow days’s gap in the clouds. enjoy!
MASTERLIST | REQUESTS: OPEN!
Tumblr media
You have a tendency to keep a nonchalant front, including around the people you can comfortably call good company. It is as it seems: a coping mechanism because of all the previous unpleasant experiences you’ve encountered throughout your lifetime. These walls have been around ever since you were young, but you’ve learned to make peace with them, knowing that those you trust the most could suddenly leave you high and dry after they think you no longer benefit them. You’ve learned to see the negative aspects of people before getting to know them, expecting them to walk all over you. That’s why you could only call a handful of people your friends; it’s better to be safe than to be sorry. But again, you’re still wary. The only person you’ve really, really opened up to about all this is your current boyfriend, Soobin.
He knows that you don’t purposefully shut yourself out, distance yourself if you feel you’ve overshared enough for the week, get into one-sided conflicts with friends (and not confronting them about it because according to you, “if they wanted to know how I feel, they would”), and the like too many to list. It’s become second nature to you, and he’s been patient enough to learn how it works, how your mind works.
“I like being around you. I like being with you.” When Soobin heard your mumble from the sofa where your figure was slouched, he didn’t know how to process these words. Mainly because they made his heart feel something he couldn’t name; all he knows is that his heart is rushing with overflowing love for you. It didn’t help that the article of clothing that adorned your torso was one of his sweaters.
“Yeah?” As he walks back to you with the water he grabbed from the kitchen, you continue your unfiltered, yet endearing chatter. You accept the glass he held out to you with a grateful nod.
“Your presence… you know when the sun peeks through the gap in the clouds?” He’s silent after your confession, not wanting to disrupt your train of thought, but he nods. It takes a lot for a person to acceptingly experience vulnerability, especially if it is something they resent. You take a sip of your water, gently putting it down on the glass table making sure it doesn’t spill before carrying on.
“It’s like that. Ever since you’ve been around, things feel lighter and brighter. I love how you make me feel.”
”The first time we met, though I believe to this day you are the most enchanting being I have ever laid my eyes on, my intention was never to get romantically involved. But I knew I wanted you in my life for the rest of my time somehow.” At this point, your hands have seeked out his and the sight is what your eyes chose to rest on. Your fingers lightly scrape over the surface of the bracelet Soobin is wearing; you bought and gave it to him after you received your first paycheck. It was a good day.
You aren’t seeing how Soobin’s attention is so focused on you. Anyone could hypothesize that he’s hypnotized solely by your existence. You tell him that all the good in the world is stored in him, especially his eyes and smile. He teasingly begs to differ every single time, but you’re just fortunate you’re at the receiving end of his loving sight and adoring grin.
“But I fear that one day, your heart stops yearning for what I offer you, that you leave me with the mark of you and I have to live through everyday from then on without you. Me, personally, I’m not saying you will, but my mind’s conditioned me to think that the possibility is always there.”
There’s a beat of silence so that Soobin could absorb what you dumped on him, but he doesn’t really see it that way. He’s forever thankful that you trust him enough to talk about these things with him, knowing how closed off you are.
You speak up again, hoping that he’s had enough time to process what you’ve told him, “thank you for caring. I’m sorry if I’m ever too much.” You finally built up the courage to divert your eyes to him, your hands still fiddling his own.
In classic Soobin fashion, he tilts his head slightly at your statement with a pout and you want to tackle and squish him for it. You held back, deciding that there’ll be proper times to release your cute aggression on him.
“Why should you thank me for that?”
“You know.” Of course he does, he just wants to hear you say it. You don’t want to give him the satisfaction.
He slowly lets go of your hands, which results in you looking at him aloofly, and reaches out to engulf you mellowly, “don’t be afraid.”
You’re annoyed because your eyes start to water and you can’t control them. Your one hand continues to rest on Soobin’s back, while the other weakly hits his head.
“My intention wasn’t to cry today.” You complain, your statement muffled by his shirt. He chuckles a little too happily for your liking, so you smack him again.
The gentle flutter of the electric fan, the humming of the refrigerator, the beating of each other's hearts, the occasional leaks of the kitchen faucet that has yet to be repaired; all these build up the serenity that settles in Soobin’s home.
“You make me feel alright, I hope I do the same for you.”
And with perfect timing, the warm glow of the sunset embellishes the living room, though it isn’t as warm as the embrace you’re in. Soobin hugs you tighter than he did a minute ago; it’s almost like he’s afraid to lose you (he is), even if there isn’t any distance left to close. It was enough to make you doubt your own overthinking. “You do. If our paths didn’t cross when they did, I would’ve lost my mind.”
Everything is temporary, but each moment you spend with Soobin makes you forget that.

11 First Kisses
a record of eleven defining kisses you shared with Yeonjun
Non-Idol Choi Yeonjun x she/her reader! WC: 4.8k words Genre: friends to lovers to exes/strangers to lovers, some angst, some fluff, hurt maybe comfort? TWs: none (please let me know if I somehow missed any!)
A few disclaimers (?):
I know I’m supposed to be writing for Sight but I was trying to look for inspiration and I stumbled upon this in my drafts so...
I know this blog is for Haikyuu but please let me post here because I can barely manage this so I don’t think I can open a separate blog for TXT and also because this may be the first and last time I will write for TXT
ANYWAYs
here we go ~ kindly reblog and/or leave a comment if you liked it!!!!
-x-o-x-o-
Kiss #1
You both were fifteen, paired for a science project. You were sitting at the back-most part of the library, the tables near you unoccupied. You were busy explaining something Yeonjun couldn’t grasp and he could hear the frustration starting to drip from your voice since it was becoming obvious that he wasn’t listening. “Yeonjun, you’re not paying attention,” you said sternly.
“I am,” he replied, but his eyes were still trained on your plump lips as his head rested on his hand.
You dropped your pen and crossed your arms, facing him. With your eyebrows burrowed together, you whispered the threat. “I’m gonna ask Teacher Min if I can still switch partners.”
His only response was, “Can I kiss you?”
You were so taken aback by his question but after a few moments, nodded reluctantly. Yeonjun cheered internally – what he read in the books was right, after all! So, he carefully leaned in and gave you a quick peck. It was sweet with a faint taste of your favorite strawberry milk drink. You and Yeonjun’s very first kiss.
-x-o-x-o-
Kiss #2
His parents held a simple celebration for Yeonjun’s sixteenth birthday and he thought it was the best time to introduce you to his parents as his girlfriend ever since he finally asked you out a few weeks ago. You were nervous as he was your first boyfriend, you even stuttered while greeting them and you were so cute that Yeonjun committed the image to his memory. Who knew a meet-the-parents scenario would make the confident and smart L/N Y/N lose her nerves?
After the celebration, he snuck you into his room (after convincing you for ten minutes that you were not going to get caught and that if you did, it wouldn’t be a big deal, anyway) and as you sat awkwardly on his bed, he laughed and said, “Relax, we’re only going to kiss.” You visibly breathed a sigh of relief and you looked so adorable at that moment, sitting on his dark blue comforter, that he leaned in and kissed you. Your first kiss as an official couple.
 -x-o-x-o-
Kiss #3
Last day of summer before twelfth grade, Yeonjun and you were in your living room seated on the couch with a small distance between you two, watching Ouran High School Host Club, while a bowl of popcorn stood on the table in front of you. Yeonjun was starting to get into watching anime, all thanks to you. Your Mama told both of you that she was going on a quick grocery run for some salt or egg, he couldn’t recall.
As soon as the door shut behind her, you pulled Yeonjun closer towards you and he laughed a bit. He was surprised in delight because he was always the one initiating the affectionate acts between you. But that afternoon, after pulling him to your body, you turned your head in front of his and stole a quick kiss before focusing your attention back to the TV. He’ll always remember it – your first kiss that was initiated by you.
-x-o-x-o-
Kiss #4
Your last year in senior high. Prom night. Yeonjun pulled you away from the dance floor, you struggling on your heels as he guided you towards the photobooth. Right before the camera shutter went off, he cupped your face and put his lips against yours. It was your first kiss captured in a photograph.
-x-o-x-o-
Kiss #5
Your eighteenth birthday. The two of you were cuddling on your bed, your head on Yeonjun’s chest as you both looked at your ceiling decorated by the old glow-in-the-dark stars that everyone loved as children. Yeonjun had pasted his on random places but yours seemed to be arranged into constellations.
“And what’s that?” He asked, pointing to the five stars close to each other, which looked like they were the first ones to be pasted on the ceiling.
With his soft breath warm and comforting near you, you answered, “That’s Cassiopeia.”
“Like the calculator?” He asked innocently and felt your body shake in laughter.
“No, like the queen in Greek mythology. Did you not listen to literature class?”
Shaking his head, he looked down to face you and stared at your dark eyes. Before he could get lost in them, Yeonjun confessed. “I was bad in class because I was always busy watching you.”
You blushed, pink dusting your cheeks, and poked his nose. “Since when did you have a crush on me?”
“Seventh grade,” he answered without a second thought. “You were annoyed at me for checking your science quiz messily.”
“Crazy!” you exclaimed, almost hitting your head against his. “That was the moment I began to really notice you. Who would have thought I’d end up falling in love with the boy who can’t grade a paper properly?”
Yeonjun became silent as soon as you finished your sentence and he didn’t tell you then but at that moment, he was so relieved. He’d been dying to drop the L-word on you but was afraid he would scare you away. Could you imagine how he felt when he heard your slip of the tongue?
You realized what you have said and gently snuggled closer to his chest, your hair tickling his chin. In a whisper, you said softly, “I love you, Yeonjun.”
He planted a soft kiss at the top of your head before turning down so you’re face to face. “I love you, Y/N.” Staring into each other’s eyes, you leaned towards each other and closed the gap. Your first kiss after saying I love you.

Kiss #6
You were crying. Not the tears-silently-running-down-your-face kind of crying but the messy-tears-and-runny-nose crying. It was time for the both of you to go to college and Yeonjun got accepted in the country’s top university for musicians and dancers. When you first found out the news, you were filled with pride because you knew how much Yeonjun loved performing. However, Yeonjun getting accepted into his dream school also meant he would have to move to a city four hours away from home.
His parents were kind enough to let you know you were welcome to tag along when they would drop Yeonjun off in his dorms but you declined the offer, not trusting yourself to bid a proper goodbye and besides, you wanted to give that moment to his parents.
So, you and Yeonjun set a date for the whole day before he moved and as you watched the sunset under your favorite tree, the fact that the day was closing to an end hit you like a brick and you weren’t able to stop yourself from ugly-crying at the thought that your boyfriend would be moving the next day.
“I promise I’d go home as often as I can,” Yeonjun said as he tried to wipe your tears away.
Instead of being comforted, what he said only made you cry harder. Yeonjun pulled you against him and let you cry until it felt like you ran out of tears. And when you regained your composure later on, he sweetly kissed your lips. “I’ll hold on to this,” you said after a while, smiling gently at him, “our salty first goodbye kiss.”

Kiss #7
On your fourth anniversary, you and Yeonjun had a fight. You were both on your sophomore year in university. You were elated when he told you he’d be coming home for the weekend and you prepared a surprise for him. Yeonjun did come home, but he wasn’t alone.
Soobin and Taehyun were with him, his friends that he met on his first year. As it turned out, Yeonjun only went home to show them around your town, to let his family meet them. He didn’t remember what you were supposed to celebrate. So, Saturday came and it was your anniversary but you didn’t even get to see him until late at night when you dropped by their house.
When Yeonjun saw you, his face didn’t transform into that happy expression he always wore whenever the two of you meet after not seeing each other for some time. Instead, he said with a hint of surprise and something else in his voice, “I didn’t know you were coming.”
You replied with a nonchalant shrug. “Well, you sure don’t know a lot of things these days.”
At that, Yeonjun frowned before he grabbed your wrist and brought you to his room, his guests and family awkwardly trying not to look at the scene. Once he closed the door, he asked in a barely contained voice, “What the hell was that?”
And you knew you should have been calmer but instead, you retorted with, “Who the hell forgets what the date today is?”
Yeonjun’s budding anger was replaced with confusion. “I don’t know what you’re talking… about.” The way he slowly trailed off let you know that he just remembered at that moment what the day was. “Shit. I’m sorry.”
You wanted to stay mad but the apologetic look he gave you – like a puppy asking to be forgiven after chewing something he’s not supposed to – made your heart melt. You reached for his hand and squeezed it. “You owe me one day where you’ll only be with me.”
Yeonjun laced your fingers together and raised it towards his lips so he could plant a kiss on the back of your hand. “Of course. And I won’t only give you one day, I’ll give you the rest of my life.”
You were glad that his lights were off because you were absolutely sure that you blushed like crazy at the implication of Yeonjun’s words. “Shut up.”
He laughed at you and leaned closer, your lips barely touching. “You’re not mad at me anymore?”
“No…”
A sigh of relief. “Thank you,” he lightly brushed your lips against yours. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” you replied.
As if to seal your exchanged words, he locked his lips with yours and the two of you shared your first make-up kiss.

Kiss #8
Yeonjun’s twenty-first birthday celebration. He had come home after not visiting your town for a few months. It was the first time that you were nervous about him coming home because you knew there were a lot of things that needed to be addressed. During the past months you’ve been away from each other, you lacked communication and time together. You weren’t even sure how to interact with Yeonjun. But still, the smile he gave you as you arrived at the celebration his family threw for him was enough to reassure your heart.
You could name a lot of memories between you and your boyfriend which brought you happiness, and you were about to add that day to the memories but alas, it’s as if time just decided to tease you, letting you borrow joy for a quick moment. The whole celebration, you felt confident about your relationship and where you and Yeonjun stood in each other’s lives. But then came the announcement of his Dad.
“Yeonjun has grown into a fine man,” he began. “I’m very proud of my only child and since today is a special one, we want to share with you that he got accepted for a spring program focusing on music and dance in Singapore this coming break.” He paused as if letting everyone absorb what he just said. “On top of that, he also got chosen as one of the cultural exchange students in Japan for one semester.” Applause followed around the room, cheers and hoots of excitement from the guests and you felt bad for not being completely happy with the news.
The spring and exchange programs meant he’d be out of the country for six months. Half a year. Could you both make that work? And more importantly, you kept thinking about how come you had to learn about them that way? Did Yeonjun purposely not tell you or was he just too busy?
Yeonjun walked you home after the celebration and you were silent the whole time. In the past, any silence between the two of you was comfortable, basking in the feeling that you could tell what each other was thinking without words being exchanged. But at that time, it felt as if you were walking the streets with a stranger. You finally broke the silence when you stopped in front of your gate. “Congratulations.”
Your bodies were facing but you weren’t looking at each other. “Y/N,” Yeonjun finally said before reaching for your hand, gingerly enclosing it with his. You could feel he was staring at your face but still felt scared to meet his eyes. Instead, you looked down at your hands, your brows furrowing as you noticed the chip on your newly-manicured left pinky. “Are we okay?”
Maybe it was the way that there was uncertainty in his usually confident voice. Maybe it was the implication of what he asked; a silent acknowledgment of the things you’ve both been trying to ignore for the past months. Whatever the reason was, Yeonjun’s question made you burst into tears. It didn’t help that his fingers were quick to brush them away.
“I don’t know, Jun,” you finally answered after regaining a little bit of composure. “I’m not sure about us right now.” At that moment, you almost spilled everything to him: the fear, doubt, hurt, and longing that you’ve been feeling. But instead, you reached up to your face to wipe the stray tears left. “I’m sorry.”
He pulled you close to him, and the familiar warmth of his arms around you didn’t help in stopping your tears. You felt his lips on your forehead. “To be honest, I’m not sure as well,” Yeonjun confessed and then cupped your face, making sure you were eye to eye as he said the next words. “But this I’m a hundred percent sure of. I love you, Y/N, and I won’t give up on us. Okay?”
You nodded, badly wanting to believe that everything will be okay between you and Yeonjun. “Okay.”
A small smile finally found its way to his lips. He brought your face closer to his, brushed his thumbs against your lips, and leaned down. A kiss. A whisper of promises. With the dark sky littered by stars, it was a moment that you would later try to forget. Your first kiss with Yeonjun that didn’t bring butterflies to your stomach.

Kiss #9
It was at an old friend’s wedding where you met Yeonjun again after several years. It was an unexpected and awkward reunion. The last time you heard back then, he was happy with his job in Japan, working at a dance academy that had sourced him when he was studying there. You remember how, after the exchange program, he only went back to the country to finish his last term in university and shortly after graduating, moved to Japan.
“Hey.” His voice broke you out of your thoughts, making you look at him. Now that he’s in closer proximity, you could properly observe him. He had grown his hair to barely above his shoulder, the black silky strands looking vibrant as ever. His body was well-defined. He looked different and yet the same. Those warm eyes looking at you intently. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
You offered a friendly smile. “Shouldn’t I be the one to ask you that question?”
Yeonjun actually laughed a little and the sound brought a wave of nostalgia to you. “I moved back six months ago.” He rubbed at his nape – a force of habit you knew he had since he was younger. “It’s nice to see you again, Y/N. It’s been so long.” He took a sip from his drink and you couldn’t help but stare at his plump lips. You’re reminded of how they felt like against yours.
“Yeah...” You answered distractedly. Upon realizing what you’ve been doing, you quickly cast your eyes somewhere else. “How have you been?”
Yeonjun pursed his lips, contemplating on an answer before settling with a simple, “Great.” His eyes crinkled a little as he smiled at you. “How about you? You look dashing.”
You tried to not put too much meaning on his compliment. “I’m good. I teach kids in fifth grade.”
That made him smile. “As expected of you. You always loved to help others understand lessons they have trouble dealing with.” His words unintentionally brought you back to when you were fifteen years old, trying to explain to Yeonjun a topic for the project you were paired to work on together. That day in the library, when you both had your first kiss.
“Well,” you cleared your throat, setting your glass down on the table. “It was nice seeing you again, Yeonjun.” You hoped he couldn’t hear the hesitancy in your voice and the way your heart was beating loudly in your chest all because of him. It’s been many years since you last saw each other and yet, the moment you first saw him two hours ago, all the longing came back instantly, as if they were always there and were barely contained by a flimsy gate.
“Yeah...” Yeonjun replied awkwardly. He slightly fidgeted in place and it pained you that you could no longer tell what it meant for him. You could no longer read Yeonjun as easily as you were able to before. Still, he made no move to leave you. “Do you want to-”
“Y/N!” An excited voice joined you but immediately faltered once the person realized you were with someone he didn’t know. “Oh, hi.”
You smiled at the guy. “Kai, this is Yeonjun, the one who kept on putting all kinds of bugs and insects inside Beomgyu’s locker up until middle school. Yeonjun, this is Kai. He moved to our town a few years back and is the one responsible for this very event. He’s the one who introduced Beomgyu to his partner.”
The two exchanged greetings. “Oh, you really came! I’ve heard a lot about you!” Kai shared excitedly, making your eyes widen in panic. Realizing his slip up, Kai quickly amended with, “I always tease Beomgyu and he tells me how there’s someone from his childhood who always played a prank on him...”
Whether Yeonjun bought it or not was unknown to you, another reminder of the bitter reality that you no longer knew him as well as you did in the past. Before the three of you could continue your conversation, another friend who hasn’t seen Yeonjun in years called for his attention from a few tables down. He gave you a quick smile before reluctantly going to the said person.
After Yeonjun left, you gave your friend a pointed look and Kai quickly held up his hands in defense. “I’m sorry I slipped up!”
You rolled your eyes before mimicking him. “You really came!” An accusing look was on your face. “Did you know all along that he’s invited to the wedding?”
Like a deer caught in headlights, Kai only gave you a guilty look. “Hear me out, okay? I didn’t tell you because I knew you would be overthinking a lot on the months and weeks leading to this day. You so obviously still have feelings for Yeonjun and I just didn’t want you to... you know... think a lot about him more than you already do on a daily basis.”
“I do not think a lot about him on a daily basis, Kai.”
He scoffed. “You so do.”
You sent him a glare but it was in a friendly nature. Kai became one of your closest friends ever since he helped you get a strawberry milk from one of the vending machines in the school where he also worked as a teacher. He was also the one who tried to set you up on dates with other people, all of which miserably failed, which he attributed to you never getting over Yeonjun, your first love.
“Shut up, I’ve already moved on.” Kai only laughed at that because you both knew that it was far from the truth. He didn’t call you out though and the two of you continued to banter, passing the time, all the while unaware of eyes that kept watching you.
Beomgyu was a friend of yours who always gets back to people who have wronged him and it’s one of the things you oddly liked about him. But alas, you didn’t know the day would come when you would be a pawn in his revenge. Stupid, younger Yeonjun and his locker pranks.
As it turned out, Beomgyu, a dear old mutual friend of you and Yeonjun, oh-so-conveniently overlooked a tiny detail when booking the rooms at the hotel and resort where all the guests of his beach wedding would be staying. The mistake being, you and Yeonjun having to share a room with only one bed.
“This is so cliché,” you groaned out in frustration as you stood inside the room and heard the sound of the door shutting behind you. “Beomgyu is so unbelievable!”
Yeonjun quietly went towards the bed and it wasn’t until he was seated on the soft mattress that he spoke. “That brat.” A small shake of his head before looking to meet your eyes with a slight smile. “He never changed, huh.”
“Yeah.” The way he was looking at you made you feel things and suddenly, frustration was no longer your most dominant emotion at the moment. You cleared your throat, eyes not leaving Yeonjun’s as you carefully said the next words. “But I’m glad he didn’t. It’s comforting to know that despite all the things and people that have changed and slipped away through my fingers, some remained and stayed the same.”
Silence settled in the room but Yeonjun’s gaze didn’t falter. You hated how you couldn’t fathom what the look on his eyes meant. He stood from the bed and walked towards your frozen figure near the door and stopped when there was only a small distance between your bodies. “Y/N.”
“Yeonjun.”
It was a simple exchange of your names and yet, it felt as if there were so many words that were said between the two of you. Thousands of things left unsaid during the past several years when you were out of each other’s lives. Finally, he spoke aloud. “Do you want to talk, Y/N?”
You nodded almost immediately, your heart rioting inside your chest. “But can I ask a question first?”
With a slight tilt of his head to the side, he said, “Okay.”
For a split second, you were tempted to back out and change the question you were about to ask him. But you remembered how you’ve never been truly happy in the romance aspect of your life during the past years and so, with a deep breath, you decided to just go along, knowing your cheeks were flushed pink. “Can you please kiss me?”
His face broke into that handsome smile of his that was all too familiar, eyes turning into small crescents as he closed the short distance between you. It would always be special and you’d be forever grateful to Beomgyu for somehow making it happen.
Your first kiss with Yeonjun, ten years after the break up.

Kiss #10
If someone would ask Yeonjun what his favorite day was, they’d probably expect him to answer with any of the following: the day he got accepted into his dream school, the day the dance academy in Japan offered the contract to him, the day he met the performer who was his role-model, the day he first kissed you. All of which would be wrong.
His favorite day would be the one where his younger self’s dream became a reality: him waiting at the end of an aisle of flowers, you walking down in your white dress and a bouquet of beautiful flowers in your hands.
The girl of his dreams looking as beautiful as always. As beautiful as the day you were annoyed at him for incorrectly grading your test paper. As beautiful as the day he first asked if he could kiss you. As beautiful as the day he first brought you to his room. As beautiful as that night he took you to prom and you spent the half of it complaining about how your feet hurt from wearing heels. As beautiful as the day you said goodbye to him before he went off to university. As beautiful as the day he broke your heart shortly before he flew to Singapore. As beautiful as the day he saw you at Beomgyu’s wedding.
In every single moment, you looked beautiful. Yeonjun couldn’t believe how lucky he was to be given a second chance of loving and being loved by you. And after you exchanged your vows and put the rings on each other’s fingers, he couldn’t help but shed a single tear for what you were about to share.
A core memory for him: your first kiss as husband and wife.

Kiss #11
One hundred days after your wedding, Yeonjun was surprised when you came to him with an idea. Let’s record all of our important “first kisses”! He laughed a bit and told you that there was only supposed to be one first kiss. But you had insisted and asked (forced) him to think back to all the kisses you have shared and surprisingly enough, the both of you were able to come up with 10 first kisses that defined your relationship.
“Isn’t this cute?” You had asked him as you finished decorating the small scrapbook that you both were working on. “How sweet that it ends with us getting married. Ah, I’m getting all the feels from a romance book!”
He had agreed absentmindedly as his mind was more focused on taking in every single one of your features. The whisker dimples that appear whenever you smile and laugh. Your eyes that he could spend eternity getting lost in. And most importantly, your lips that he couldn’t kiss enough. “So, you finally agree that we stop recording at ten?”
You poked your cheek with your tongue and after a bit of contemplation, gave him a smile. “Yeah. I think it’s best to leave it at that.” You looked so lovely at that moment, and, unable to stop himself, Yeonjun leaned towards you for one sweet kiss.
------------------------------
Yeonjun closed the book and looked at the woman beside him. She always looked younger than her age and the only indication that she’s approaching her fifties were the streaks of gray hair beginning to peek out from her head. The woman looked at him, confusion written all over her face. “I don’t understand.”
He resisted the urge to tuck a stray hair behind her ear. “You don’t understand what?”
“I thought the agreement is to leave it at ten first kisses? Why are there eleven?”
A smile that was a mix of happiness and melancholia made its way to Yeonjun’s lips. “Well, it was supposed to really end at kiss number 10. But something happened that prompted a need for one more kiss to be recorded.”
She tilted her head in question, eyes full of curiosity and urging him to go on. Yeonjun inwardly sighed; this was usually the hardest part. “Y/N, five years ago, we got into an accident and it was pretty bad but between us two, you suffered more.” He watched for any change of expression on her face before continuing. “You suffered a lot, love. Severe global amnesia, you can’t retrieve past memories and you can’t store new ones. For a long time, at least. Your new memories can only last from three days to a week.”
“Oh.”
As usual, Yeonjun waited for the woman to say more but she just stared at the book on his lap, eyes squinted as if she’s waiting for something to happen. Was she waiting for him to break out in laughter and admit it was a cruel joke? However, what she asked next surprised him.
“I still don’t understand why Kiss #11 exists...”
For the first time in a while, Yeonjun let out a genuine laugh. “You see, Y/N, the recorded eleventh kiss in the book is just a placeholder.” He gently cupped her face. “Can I kiss you?”
She blushed, her rose-colored cheeks warming his heart. Still, she managed to let out a small, “Yes.”
And same as that time in the library all those years ago, Yeonjun leaned in to the only person his lips belonged to. “This is our real Kiss #11.” The kiss was gentle, soft but was full of emotions. He smiled at the love of life. “Our first “first kiss”.” The first kiss of many years to come whenever you would wake up not remembering again.
