thinking about how txt have perfectly and smoothly managed a very difficult transition in the world of kpop, which is growing from boys to men. I mean, consider their crown debut. look at them. babies.

they were adorable, and the concept bighit gave them at the time made sense given their overall image. but now? they still have their cute boyish charm of course, but now they are fully allowing themselves to express more mature styles.

unfortunately in kpop, fandoms get hostile towards the idea of their faves growing past their innocent demeanor and excoriate them for expressing sexuality. kpop still very much holds a double standard when it comes to this: fans sexualize the artists very early and seem to enjoy sexy stage performances, yet find it intolerable if that expression of sexuality carries over into anything truly artistic or conceptual (it's worth noting women in the industry get the worst of this).

txt embarking on this name chapter project, which explores sex and sensuality, is just so clever and artistically executed and now we get this weverse con invitation cover right in our faces as another reminder that they are grown up and fully embracing it.

I don't think it's an accident at all that they chose to cover this performance in between albums. this is a big "yeah in case you didn't know our comeback was about sex now you know lol" and not only that, but they purposefully covered this song wearing skirts and not refining the choreography in a way that would make it more "masculine". In doing so, they're not just reinforcing the message that they are adults now and can do whatever sexual concepts they want, but they're also reminding everyone that they're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's normal in kpop in terms of gender expression and breaking taboos. I just. love them so fucking much.

genuinely one of the funniest overlooked Renly bits is when he shows a picture of Margaery to Ned hoping that she looks like Lyanna in AGoT. Like, I know that the point is that he wanted to replace Cersei with Margaery and was hoping to appeal to Robert's dreams of Lyanna - and indeed, Ned's immediate thought is that he was hoping to emulate Robert - but it's like. ohhhhhhhhh buck told tommy that the night of the hurricane chopper rescue was the most fun he’s had since being struck by lightning. this adds another layer to buck’s jealousy over eddie and tommy spending time together - because, as we know, he thought tommy was cool! he wanted to get to know him! he wanted to get a beer and take flying lessons and hang out! and then he learns that not only is eddie already hanging out with tommy without buck, they’re also doing a lot of fun stuff together - starting with the chopper flight to vegas which results in buck getting ditched. they also did muay thai together, and worked on eddie’s car, and went to bar trivia karaoke???? that’s all cool stuff!!!! and buck didn’t get to experience any of it. he understands tommy wanting to spend time with eddie doing cool things bc eddie is cool, but he probably can’t help feeling like the kid who didn’t get picked for sports or to go to the cool kids’ parties. and let’s not forget this season started with buck wanting to have fun gokarting in the desert - but he didn’t have anyone to go with. buck wants to have fun, so i hope he finally gets to do some fun stuff with tommy. i really hope those behind the scenes pics of the desert include some bucktommy desert gokarting date fun, or at least show us tommy giving buck those flying lessons.
