I haven’t seen many people talk about this but. I think Undyne will be in deltarune chapter 3.

Toriel called the police for her slashed tires and undyne said she’d be right there, and kris opened the front door before creating the fountain. Knowing undyne, she’ll see the commotion going on inside the house and burst inside to check it out without hesitation, and she’ll fall into the dark world. Kris probably did this because if you talk to Undyne about the dark worlds kris tells her BY THEMSELVES that more are opening up and people could start falling in - but undyne laughs them off every time. I think maybe. They want to prove it to her. That the dark worlds ARE real and people CAN fall in - because she did! Also, she and Toriel might talk about Asgore since he used to be police chief before undyne and there’s bound to be some lore there.

Or maybe napstablook comes instead and kris’ plan to make undyne aware fails. Who knows!

Continuing on with my brain rot I took it to Instagram and got people to request some characters to draw! It was my first time drawing practically all of these characters since 2016, my art has changed so much since then and I only hope to improve it further. This was such a fun exercise and with what I continue to plan as far as Undertale goes I’m going to have to get a lot more comfortable with these designs! :))

Okay, so right now it seems very likely that Dark Worlds are somewhat influenced by the psyche of the Lightners that travel through them. It’s most obvious with the parallels between Queen, and Noelle’s struggles with her mother back in the Light World. But I would argue maybe the spelling puzzles scattered throughout Cyber World are more of a Berdly thing? Both Noelle and Berdly took part in that spelling bee, but it seems to be a lot more instrumental to Berdly’s development than Noelle’s.

Now, what does that tell us about the next Dark World?

My bet is that we’re not gonna see a Dark World based on Kris’ mind until the endgame - because they’re meant to be kinda enigmatic to the player. And my guess is usually that Card Kingdom reflects Susie’s life and memories but we don’t know enough about Susie’s past to make those parallels yet. But if I’m wrong about that latter thing? I can easily see Chapter 3’s Dark World being based on the psyche of both Susie and Toriel. Connecting via the contrast between Toriel’s maternal instincts and… whatever the fuck Susie’s family situation is exactly.

But also… there’s another character that might enter this specific Dark World party. Remember, Toriel called the cops just before that. And while there’s could be some interesting stuff in a Napstablook-centric Dark World (and especially with the show business theme teased for Chapter 3), I think there’s tons of potential in the Chapter 3 Dark World being focused on both Toriel and Undyne.

Cause right now, these two don’t seem to have much in common in terms of interactions or relationships. But there seem to be two points of connective tissue: Undyne is developing a crush on Alphys, Toriel’s co-worker - and Asgore: Undyne’s former boss and Toriel’s ex-husband.

(Isn’t that an interesting parallel... Undyne is crushing on Toriel’s current co-worker, Toriel once loved Undyne’s former co-worker...Huh...)

I’ve seen a lot of cool and fun interpetations of Tenna or Mike or whoever the Chapter 3 Dark World Boss is gonna be, but not a lot with a consideration of the possibility that they might reflect on some important relationship of one of the Lightners, the way Queen reflects Noelle’s relationship with her mother. Much less consideration for the possibility they might represent Toriel and Undyne’s very contrasting views of Asgore Dreemurr.

i sketched some concepts for my take on chapter 3! specifically the cowboy section. in the style of toby's concept art (as in, incredibly low effort and bad just to get the idea out)

basically there's a rouxls battle with mildly entertaining shootout action, and then before he can unleash his Reale Power, undyne falls from above and crushes him. and then you fight her and napstablook :)
