A: I see~ What would I be doing…2 hours before the performance I’d have entered the dressing room, done some warm up and my makeup…it’s usually set with this rundown, but depending on my conditions and feelings on that day, the specific routine would change. If there was a way that would make my performance better, I won’t however decide it on that “this was it!”

Q: If you were an athlete competing in the Tokyo Olympics, what sports event would you join? (~From Maiti’s Eyelashes)

A: You’re my eyelash!? (LOL) Then I’d hope you’d be a longer and thicker eyelash type (LOL) What event would I do…if it’s gymanstics, maybe something closer back to the gymnastics that I’d do. I want people to be surprised [with the event that I participated] that it suits me, and finds it amazing I can achieve that kind of balance! I’d like to do those that involve the “mattress”, but my back is hard so I think if I were to do a back flip, I’d probably break my bones (LOL).

Q: I can always receive Minami-san’s cheerful energy. So my question is, have you eaten something that would make you feel good? Also is there something you’d see as a treat to yourself? A: Thank you! Hm, I just realised this but I don’t think I’d get hyped up from eating…But in rest days and before the long holidays, when I’m having grilled meat, Korean dish, pasta and could eat food with garlic without worrying about it, the feeling of “Oh, I’m taking a rest” really becomes so real to me and that would be a treat [for myself].

Q: Was there the funniest thing that happened recently? (~From Aachan)

A: During the Special Live “Aqua Bella!!”, I sang a song in “Senhor CRUZEIRO!”. During “Senhor” when I sang this song, I’d go down to the audience so there was no choreography for this song, this time I thought since it’s just myself so I was teaching everyone around me how to do the Samba step. When I tried dancing and singing this out during my self-rehearsals, I added unnecessarily excessive vibrato to my singing (LOL) and everyone was erupting in laughter.

Q: Could you do a pair of sexy pose and cute pose that fans would feel happy about, please? I’d like to see the gap! (~From Norino)

A: How should I do the cute pose…Tadaa~

Q: Do you have a quote or motto in your heart that you would encourage yourself to cheer up when you faced some setbacks? (~From Yuri)

A: This is really difficult because I have plentiful quotes (in mind). Rather than a motto, I’d say that I have to believe myself even more in this time. If I thought “I can’t do this”, then I really wouldn’t be able to do it, and I’d be overwhelmed by that absence of confidence. Frustrations are the next thing to conquer, but honestly if you’re feeling down for a long time, you really can’t finish one good thing out of it, so the next thing should be trusting in yourself, and thinking of how to make things work in the time to come.

Q: In the Senshuuraku (last day) performance of “Haikara-san ga Tooru” you said to Tamaki, “You’re in love with me, right” did you think over that line when you said it? Also, did you think of saying this line before Senshuuraku? (~From Girl S who couldn’t forget that line)

A: After the marriage scene where (Shoui saves Benio from the fire), the order of the cast members saying the lines are all ad-libs. We really didn’t think about it beforehand but I was thinking if there was anything I could say during the Senshuuraku, so I asked Kurisu (Oto) who played Tamaki if she thought of anything, but she didn’t and we were quickly entering into Act II (LOL). I wanted to allow the audience to enjoy the two’s relationship, how Tamaki is somehow trying to pursue (Onijima) but not in a “clingy” kind of way…I kept thinking about it, and then it clicked my mind when it was my turn to go out!

Q:  I’d like to know about your awareness when dancing with the musumeyaku, or the enjoyment you felt when dancing in pairs! (~ From Erina)

A: It’s really~ fun because when I dance in pairs (with my partner), I’m dancing while feeling their gaze and also their breathing and the nuance of the dance itself! And beyond anything else, musumeyaku-san are cute! We’d constantly have the awareness to dance well in order to let our partners look well, so when if it’s about the timing to lead the dance, I’d think about how to lead my partner well and practice many times with them, so when I can fully demonstrate it, the dance won’t feel too heavy and it feels great!

Q: In the Takarazuka 1st photobook, Seo [Yuria]-san praised you saying, “Before the summer she was still skinny, then after the summer she became a Muscle Man”. It’s around 1 month for the summer…? How did you gain muscles in this short time? I know this is done by accumulative effort, but could you please tell us? I’m looking forward to know! (~From Dry Eye)

A: I’m sooooooo embarrassed [about that comment], but I’m probably just chubby (LOL). In those strict Yokasei days, in order not to fall asleep I thought “I must eat”. Anyway, the outcome of all those calorie intake [from eating] is having firm muscles in May already that are “buff! buff! buff! buff!” and thus coming to the condition where I was having muscles all over my body. Seo was probably busy that she didn’t realise it before, so when she has free time and finally realised it, she said that [in my photobook] (LOL).

Kurt's constantly being depicted with whatever features are pop culturally considered the most attractive in the first two decades after his appearance. this is because hes supposed to be handsome despite being blue and furry with golden eyes!!!

That's why women keep calling him cute or saying shit like "yum!" when he pops up in the older comics! kurt is attractive!!!!!!!

However this changing idea of what's hot has led to people making a lot of design decisions which make less sense to his design, but it is 100% due to the history of constant face changing from the 80s to the 90s along with the implanted phrase of "he looks like a demon" and kurt feeling bad for his appearance sometimes (only sometimes, he often calls himself sexy or good looking!)

People love to forget demons are supposed to be attractive to better lure you into doing the sin! Not to mention what everyone considers attractive is very different meaning more contribution to lesser consistency, so here's a list to help

Little Kurt Wagner things that hadn't and shouldn't change about his design:

1) he's a gymanst, an ex circus performer, you can make his muscles chiseled if you desire but never bulky like wolverine or superman

2) high cheek bones are a must, his shadows fall there the most often second to under his eyes

3) his head hair has a natural curl to it, so I dont believe it would straighten out with length, itd become wavy if longer

4) beardless, I know people got into beards real hard and artists want to use that to signify older age, but I dont believe he'd want to look more like his father by sporting a beard/goatee anything

5) his heavy face shadows, kurt makes those shadows himself! he loves the drama of it, and it can just as easily be written as a way he can hide himself if he feels vulnerable and wants that extra shield

Anyways, stop drawing my mans looking weird or goofy as hell unless hes in one of his lovely non image inducer disguises

OC-tober Day 6 - Symbol

Phonin' it in on this one with a quick post about symbols. Ma ponies are the easiest since they have symbols slapped right there on their flanks!

I was never very creative coming up with cutie marks for my pony OCs. Honey Dust's is a bee hive and three bees because she's a good beekeeper. Her special talent is apiculture.

Flyte's is a trapeze bar because her special talent is flying trapeze and there are stars behind it because she wants to be the star of the show! I later decided that the smaller star represents her discovery later in life that she enjoys mentoring and teaching other wannabe circus stars.

That third one is mock up cutie mark I made for my husband's ponysona "Track Walker". He would be a railway engineer!

I usually think of a hypodermic syring to represent Corbie, or the red cross (though i don't wanna commit a war crime so i'm leaning away from that aspect of her design lol). White lab rat is also a good signifier for Corbie 🐁💉🏥

Hector is a little more tricky, i can never settle on one object for him. I used to like using a knife but that's so heavy handed. Blood is often difficult to represent. Maybe a scalpel or a test tube? idk... 🔪🧪🥼

Viksen seems easy enough; a fox is the first thing that comes to mind but i tend to favour a bomb or a blast. I also sometimes use an irn bru can for her. She's not my only Scot character by far but she's the most Scottish deffo 🦊💣💥🧨

Nighneag could just use a highland cow but that doesn't say much about her.. Stars often feature prominently in her design and artwork. haha maybe the very hungry caterpillar?

Őrülette.. i'm not sure. when she was first created i was using syringes for her (it was before Corbie) but that really doesn't fit her AT ALL now. i don't really know her well enough to pick something true so for now she's sticking with the Shibusen skull.

Airi would probably be represented by gymanstic parallel bars or mayyybe strawberry ice cream.

I made up an additional digi-destined crest for Akiko, so she would be represented by her digivice or the crest of 'Resolve'

Zoisite is easy, SU gem so she can be represented by her gem, Zoisite lol

2019 Nostalgia Part 1: the Before Times, and a Desire to Return to a USA Dominated Normal and/or The Lost Age of Russian Gymanstics

This isn't a unified theory or an attempt to explain something to my readers but me trying to work through a mix of elements that I've been struggling to put together. I'm breaking this up in parts mostly because I think there are a few things going on and rather than writing one novel length post why not write more than one...

So please read these as a bunch of as of now a disconnected jumble of ideas:

So what do I mean by 2019 Nostalgia and why now? If you were in elite gym fandom after August 2021 until June 2022 you would have noticed a strong current of some fans talking about how elite gymnastics wasn't exciting, that the people competing essentially weren't worth watching. It came in two distinct flavors Russophiles who saw the sudden shift in geopolitics in early 2022 that pushed a resurgent Russian gymnastics into exile and a USAian view that saw excitement a constant pushing of the envelope in difficulty and what they saw as progression of the sport in the figure of Simone Biles. When both Russia and Simone exited the picture of elite gymnastics many announced that there was no excitement anymore. In some ways these two sides are presented as the old artistry versus power struggle within the sport even though I would certainly argue that Russian gymnastics does not necessarily mean artistry (though USA gymnastics has typically in recent years focused on difficulty if not power).

I expect these two impulses within the fandom to continue to be at odds. I certainly think there is something to be said for the fact that Russian gymnastics was essentially removed from the global picture just when they had established their own kind of parity. After a decade of of US domination in WAG you had a Russian olympic team gold and what was probably the most promising gymnast of a five year period (I don't want to go as far as to say her generation) coming out of Russia at the same time. And fans are going to continue to ask how would Viktoria Listunova or Vladislava Urazova compare to the worlds or Olympic field. I do think there is something be be said for the focus on the two young gymnasts who can be excused as having no say in the political uses they are put by their government and the relatively much smaller discussing of Angelina Melnikova who many perceive as being more responsible for her own statements and actions. People will continue to look to Russian domestic an alternate competitions even with the scoring crazy for some sense of that "lost era" of post Tokyo Russian gym world domination.

The flip side are the USA fans who have tried to find their own normal after an era when "we have Simone so we will win." People were very quick to be angry at Tom Forster for relying so much on that that he didn't think he needed to work with or towards building up other gymnasts. Or maybe many other gymnasts because Skinner, Carey, and McCusker were certainly athletes he thought mattered. But I've come to the conclusion that for many USA gym fans the post Tokyo criticisms were relatively shallow. We've already seen how fast "Simone will win because she's Simone" and "Simone is Super Human" returned to US gym fan discourse as well as signs that it exists in the program too if the words of Asac's husband are any indication.

Now what the fandom does may or may not matter other than being deeply annoying to others in the space (though I'd argue that the blurry lines between fan spaces and gymnasts in this sport complicates that question). But for me the comments from Brady Quinn are a huge red flag. While many of us are celebrating the ability of gymnasts to stay active in the sport longer I have also worried about a lack of opportunities and development for the next generation (or potentially two generations) of early career American gymnasts. Not only is it hard to make a name for yourself (which has financial implications now as they may or may not go into NCAA without name recognition) but when even the fans of their own program often can't be bothered to learn their names it becomes harder to justify the expense and time commitment of an Olympic dream.

I believe that the US program is in danger of losing the next generation of athletes. I'm not about to invoke Romania and the endless dragging back of Ponor yet... but I do wonder what the moral is like for the 14-16 year old athletes in the US program. And the fact that that is a black box because it would be social suicide for any of them to say anything about it I think is also a subject to bring up.

Maybe the Russian and USA situation are disconnected but I can't help but feel like part of the Russian fan feeling of opportunity lost is a sense that the USA is weak and the USA fans elation at the return of Simone, Suni, Carey and Jordan for an Olympic "redemption" tour is driven in part to prove to everyone that what happened in Tokyo was a fluke.

There is certainly an element of resentment at COVID delays and how the pandemic robbed the sport of the Olympics people expected after the 4 year build up to 2020. The answers I don't have (among many answers I don't have) is how much people really think that 2023/24 will play out how 2019/20 "should" have gone.

-no gymanstics on the bars(we used to have a bridge that had bars on it)

-got told off for yawning (the headteacher told us off for yawning because we should have gone to bed earlier. like i had a really bad sleeeping issue that was so bad that even sleeping pills didn't work.i'm shocked that i even lived)

-was not allowed to say "oh my god!"

-one of the teachers used to call us "bitch" (we were in like year 4-so 8 to 9 years old) and insult us all the time. she never got into trouble

-we had assemblies where we had to pray to god even if you were not religious

-had to say a grace before lunch even if not religious

-i have autism and they did pretty much fuck all except when necessary. they made me feel like i was a failure for it.

-we were allowed to watch youtube etc. if the teacher controlled it.

-THIS ONE THING STILL PISSES ME OFF TO THIS DAY: They didn't allow muslim children to fucking fast during RAMANDAN.

-no jewelery expect for one earing that had to be studs

-had to do the navitiy,school plays etc. and couldn't miss a single reasearchal or performance for ANY reason
