"Shockwave- a moment, please." ( * waves,,* ; v ; )

The scientist looked up from his work at the familiar voice. Without hesitation, he lowered what he was doing and faced the other mech. Old habits died hard at times, of course. Vorns and vorns of following direct orders, and but a fraction of their lives now lived as... something else entirely.
"Yes, Megatron?" he asked, voice stable and clear as he approached the other.
I just have to sing my praises for Shadow's VA in prime rq I think Ian hanlin does such a fantastic job as shadow I am just. consistently amazed. I think some previous iterations lean a little too hard into the growl but Ian hanlin brings a modernization to the character that I think works really well. Still very clearly Shadow but sounds more natural imo. Genuinely wonderful would love to hear him as shadow in other productions
been on a bit of a sitcom kick recently and more than EVER i need a sonic sitcom in my life. its 6 am and i havent slept so this is just gonna be me infodumping abt a fun concept i think abt from time to time. cool? cool.
shadow visiting amy and accidentally knocking over and shattering a vase at her house, vowing to do whatever she wants to pay for it. she doesn't care much so she has him spend a day doing favors for big instead, as she doesn't see him spending much time with anyone else in the gang. shadow grumpily wearing a "men want me fish fear me" hat fishing with big until he realizes that he genuinely adores taking it easy and the meditative trance it puts him in watching the sunlight dance on the water. b plot of sonic holding on to the back of metal sonic flying away after thwarting another one of eggman's plans and he just. falls into the water and shadow fishes him out with greater finesse and skill than big has EVER seen someone fish with. shadow is super embarrassed abt it and sonic teases him about it every chance he gets, always emphasizing that he did it to save him.
the chaotix have a slow month at the detective agency and DESPERATELY need cash so they change gears to journalism to make ends meet. cue the worst vertical phone footage you've ever seen of the trio bugging knuckles to DEATH on angel island about the master emerald and it's powers and knuckles trying his absolute best to not throw them off head first for trying to make fast vapid content about something so important to him. once they realize they've upset him they pivot the footage into a really spottily edited documentary about knuckles' dedication to his title, and the episode ends with knuckles asking tails if there's a way to put an entire video on his fridge.
sonic and tails hear blaze is visiting from her dimension so they spend every second of the next few hours trying to spruce the place up, only for eggman to show up with a pack of badniks just to mess with them. desperate to end things quickly and keep all their hard work in tact, sonic charges at the badniks to clear them out with as little of a ruckus as possible. since he was so headstrong about dispatching them without considering the method, broken bot parts and debris end up all over the garage. blaze shows up just as the last metal sheet slides across the floor against her shoe and you can watch her own attempt at formality falter as she laughs so hard she falls over, and tails just stands there with his face buried in his hands. do u see it do u see my vision
what did you think of that new idw comic with cream and vanilla and the chaotix :DDDDDD
OOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOHOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO IT WAS PERFECTION!!!!!
We got: More fun Knuckles and Chaotix interactions, Clutch being great, Cream being great, VANILLA UNLEASHING HER MOM POWERS AGAINST ROUGH AND TUMBLE, a panel that made me cry because of how much I could relate to the struggle of having to do everything perfect to make my family proud, and of course:
VECTILLA AND CHAOTIX SIBLINGS CANON DFGHJKJHGHJKJHGFDFGHGFD
Honestly my new favorite IDW issue, it even managed to surpass issue 48, and while that is also perfection in my eyes, 66 has the added bonus of catering to my very specific tastes so I have to rank it higher XD
Megatron's minding his own business. Really, he is. The Lost Light's only on Cybertron for a week, and he's taking the time to enjoy being on surface, enjoy the sun. And his own arranged apartment is just a shade too small he's pretty sure it was intentional so he's out enjoying the sun on his plating.
The question makes his engine choke, shock flaring in his field for the brief moment it takes to go from drowsing to fully alert, and then red optics are snapping open and his engine is growling as he turns toward the speaker-- and freezes.
He'd expected some impudent Autobot, or.... Something, not--
"Shockwave?" He rumbles, caught between anger and embarrassment. It takes a moment for his wits to catch up and then he's sighing, slumping back into his chair; one hand rubs at the bold red Autobrand on his chest.
"I did what I had to." He responds, flatly. Its not an answer.
It had not been on his agenda to see Megatron. In fact, he had believed that he’d never see his former leader ever again. Not after he was to serve his punishment traversing space for a foolish quest to find knights that likely never existed. Perhaps that Shockwave’s cynicism speaking, but he was hardly a religious mech. Facts and science was what he believed in.
To see Megatron had made him feel too many things at once as emotions assaulted his processor. Ever since the shadowplay was wearing off, he had been struggling to come to terms with who he even was as a mech anymore. So many vorns spent serving as a loyal Decepticons only to have Megatron abandon his cause. He was angry, he was hurt, he felt betrayed, and yet he was so happy that the war was over, that he could finally work towards saving their planet again.
Did he hate Megatron? Of course he didn’t. He’d idolised him at one point. And for those who thought Shockwave was entirely devoid of emotion, they were wrong. He had cared deeply for his master. But now, his feelings were something he could not understand, and they made him feel strange inside, torn and empty, and too much all at the same time. It was complicated.
His antennae twitched at the response. Megatron did what he had to to survive. It was the most basic of instincts, and Shockwave could not blame him for that. It was turn to the Autobot code or perish in his trial. Yes, he understood that response.
“I did not expect to see you again,” he replied, his voice strange, foreign to even himself now. It was like an old, lingering memory, and yet... he still lacked the charm and charisma he’d once had as a younger mech.
“What brings you back to Cybertron?” He assumed there was a reason.
grand slams are the most prestigious tennis tournaments (award the most points, most watched etc). winning a slam is a huge career accomplishment
The Aus Open (which just ended) and US Open are played on hard courts, which are basically what you first think of re: tennis court:
They’re both quite standard, the main difference is the location
Then you have the French Open or RG, which is played on clay:
When you’re playing on clay, you can slide around a lot, which looks very cool. Here you can see current world no1 and clay court queen Iga Swiatek sliding on clay:
You also get clay everywhere on yourself with this surface, and it’s really physically demanding to play on
And lastly Wimbledon. Grass courts:
The ball travels the fastest on grass, and the crowd is really posh, usually. It’s held in London and a ton of celebrities attend 🤷♀️ (This year Seb, Charles and Pierre were there). This and the other most important bit in the fic writing realm is that there’s an all white dress code, from cap to shoes to bag.
So! a tldr
AUS Open: Held in Melbourne. Crowd is cool, event is quite informal. Hard court which favours an aggressive style of play
RG: Held in Paris. Clay courts! You need to be able to move well and you’ll be really grimey at the end
Wimbledon: Held in London. Somewhat a formal event. All white attire is a must, and the courts are grass. You need to get to the ball fast.
US Open: Held in NYC. Rowdiest crowd, with hard courts like the AO.
