Hi! I really hope you enjoy this!

It was a demanding job, long hours, bitchy coworkers, and the worst, most disgusting clientele you could think of. But the perks? God the perks made it so worth it.

Sleeping with the boss wasn't too bad either.

What can you say? You had a thing for power, and he was nothing if not powerful.

At first you noticed the small things, light touches to the back or shoulder, less workload than others, and the most important one, he didn't scream at you like he did the others.

On a random weekday you found a small gift box on your desk. It was a V-phone, the latest model. Something that only overlords like him could afford. It was preprogrammed with only one number on it.

His.

You decided to test the waters and send him a quick message.

Thank you for the phone sir.

His reply was almost immediate, like he'd been anxiously awaiting your response.

Anything for my favorite secretary.

It wasn't until a particular day where Vox had come in looking extra tired that you decided to bridge the gap a little.

Are you feeling alright sir?

A pause, God you hope you hadn't stepped too far.

Are you saying I look like shit?

Oh no, you had to fix that fast.

No! You look great as always, you just seem a little tired.

10 minutes had passed with no response. You might as well start packing your bags.

Come to my office.

Ah shit, this was it wasn't it?

You stood up from your desk, brushed the imaginary dust from your body and made your way into Vox's office. It was big and intimidating, screens everywhere monitoring everything. Keeping his ever watchful eye out.

His back was to you, but as soon as he heard you approach he swiveled in his chair.

"Do you want to get drinks?" He asked nonchalantly.

You gapped, this was unexpected. You were on the brink of tears and making a mental plan on where you were going to work next, now he was asking you out?

The silence dragged on, you were too stunned to speak.

"Or… not if that makes you uncomfortable." He started to look nervous, was this really happening? You had to respond!

"No!"

"No?"

"No, I mean yes!" You took a deep breath trying to settle your nerves. "I would love to get drinks."

Vox instantly perked up, but he tried to play it off cool. "Yeah Val has been getting on my ass about work and Velvette has been no help either, I need other friends." He rolled his eyes, which made you chuckle. Who knew the great and powerful Vees could have such mediocre problems?

Vox took you out to a bar somewhere in the Lust Ring, it had a private booth in the back so no one would know you were back there. From there everything fell into place like perfect puzzle pieces, the two of you chatting all night long. Vox complained mostly about Val and work and some radio demon guy. And you told him about coworkers, and your skeezy landlord, who you were sure was stealing your shit when you were gone.

The next day he moved you into a private apartment in the Vee tower, close to his. You're pretty sure he also killed the landlord, but you didn't look into it.

The two of you continued your little hangouts, first it was monthly, and then weekly, and sure enough you were going to his place watching movies and snuggling.

You still kept it professional though, no one could know about your little secret. That wouldn't stop you from grabbing each other any second you were alone. Or teasing each other during more public moments. The two of you were happy, cuddled in a cocoon away from the rest of the world. The rest of Hell.

Of course anon!

Virgil loves DIY! He made his own hoodie, he is a typical alt kid mending and patching things from the thrift store. I think that, while emo is his favourite fashion and music type, he also really loves goth music and style.

The dark side fallout happened right before Accepting Anxiety rather than after. Janus had plans about showing Thomas all the repressed aspects of himself even back then, and Virgil was the easiest to grapple with, so he was sent out on the front lines. He wasn't supposed to bond with everyone. He wasn't supposed to become friends, family, with someone else, with the others. And after tension built and built and Janus's abandonment fears consumed him, it just collapsed into a fight. Virgil decided that, really, no one wants him at all, and all he does is hurt and inconvenience every other side. So he ducked out. You know the story from there.

Virgil and Roman are only recently getting along better but they're trying. Virgil's love language is sharing his interests, and he tries to find crossovers between things they enjoy. Roman struggles with that because in his view there isn't much overlap at all. Most of their hangouts involve rewatching Nightmare Before Christmas over and over. But also! Makeup!! They do each other's makeup for fun alllll of the time. Also making clothing for each other!

THIS SIDE IS AROACEAPL!! Virgil is so aroaceapl coded to me, or at least demiromantic/demisexual and friendship neutral aplatonic. He never seems to enjoy the words 'I love you' or any implication of love being given to him. He doesn't seem to enjoy relationships in general, though he has let exceptions happen. Virgil seems very romance repulsed for himself but the second it's for Thomas's romantic life he is out to battle as Bravery for the sake of that anxious man's heart.

Speaking of, Logan is also VERY aroaceapl coded and in my mind they are in a queer romantic relationship, they love each other in a way that doesn't make sense as any currently known type of 'love'. They need each other and they make each other feel nice - Logan is someone that Virgil genuinely likes to be around, which is rare for him. They get each other's struggles and I think they could talk each other down from anything. And neither of them could ask for anything better than someone who understands.

Patton is also someone Virgil has felt love for. At first both of them mainly thought it was a familial bond, but given both of theirs' issues with comprehending romantic feelings, it was soon found to be more. Attraction gets very complicated when you're aro, ace, and aplatonic. It can be so confusing when you do like someone, and you'll often try to categorize them as something different like family or community. Virgil being demiromantic and Patton being aro confused and muddled things. But they really just care about each other either way, and they just let themselves... be. To just care for each other in whatever way they can in the moment and leave their feelings undisclosed.

Vee-man's favourite bands are MCR, All-Time Low, and A Day To Remember, but he's not as pure of an emo as you'd expect. That modern day tiktok emo music? He is a sucker for that stuff. And I want to kick his ass for it.

When they were a kid, Virgil was only known as Fear and he was a little shadow person. Like a tiny boogeyman! Really, the personification of what a kid finds scary rather than his current being made of all those adult worries. He age regresses for stress reasons and reverts to that form when doing so.

That's what I can think of right now, like with the Roman post I'll edit if I think of any more later.

Hi Vee, the last few anons about engagement have really resonated with me and I want to add my own feelings. This is not directed at you, I just appreciate how you answered those anons and thought you would be the safest person to say this to.

Everyone is a lot busier now as we are forced back to the pre-pandemic 'normal'. Readers don't have the support system that writers do, so they're less likely to stay. And I think your point about fandoms growing and shrinking naturally is also true of this fandom. It is simply something that happens.

Writers responding to previous anons that they're not getting notifications of comments and posts not appearing in the search again is annoying. Readers have had these problems for months, but it is never considered in posts about engagement. They just do not have a platform to talk about these issues because readers follow writers, not vice versa.

I find other fandoms to be more welcoming where readers can discuss with writers in separate posts, but this does not seem to be the case here. Reaching out to writers through asks or DMs is almost never reciprocated, so advice for people to do so falls flat. Some writers are on discord where they have their own discussions, but readers are not included and there is nothing similar just for readers. While it's not the writer's fault, there is a perception of a hierarchy where readers are only that: readers. They're not people to include or interact with, they're just the people whose job it is to reblog and that is all they are good for. The writers who say 'cherish your writers otherwise they'll leave' could take a step back and ask themselves how they're treating everyone else. Do they cherish their readers? If so, do they communicate that? Do they engage with/reach out to readers, or do they stick with other writers? If readers feel like they're not actual members of the fandom, why would they stay?

A previous anon said that posts about low engagement are off putting and I agree. There are writers, who I have reblogged, posting about how current interaction is not enough which has made me feel incredibly unworthy. I might make a shorter comment than others do or add only tags, but that plus the time spent reading it in the first place is time and effort I could have given to someone else. It is this, and the difficulty in making connections, that make me seriously consider deactivating. After all, what is the point of me being here if all I am is an outsider? I'm here to talk about Star Wars and make friends with like minded people but I'm not good enough to create and it is very clear that is the only thing that matters here.

Interaction is a sensitive topic - one without a clear and definitive answer - and that is frustrating. It’s not a comfortable conversation, but it's still worth having. Especially when so many people are feeling the same way.

You brought up so many important points, especially from a reader’s perspective! Thank you for sending this in. I’ve been thinking about this recently, and you articulated it so well!

We always say that fandom is a community, but there absolutely is an emphasis on writers. More often than not, we stress how readers should be interacting, but rarely is the opposite discussed. It's presented almost like a one-way street, and that doesn't exactly promote a community that is inclusive of both readers and writers. I can see how that might make a reader feel that they are only good for reblogging. That sounds really unfair, especially when many writers know what it feels like to be treated like writing machines.

And you're right. It's discouraging to feel like you're not good enough. If you always feel second best then why stay? No one wants to feel like that. I don’t blame readers for leaving or stop reblogging. 

Interactions are a complicated thing, and to truly understand it we need to look at it from everyone's perspective. It's not to assign blame to anyone (tbh I don't think that is helpful), but to understand what is happening and look at our own actions. Everyone's experience in fandom is valid. Thank you again for sharing this 🤍

There was no hiding it; you weren't feeling so great these days.

It was one of those blues that kept you down for days on end, an accumulation of bad events and such that seemed to lower you deeper and deeper into the bowels of despair. You weren't a stranger to those times in your life. Somehow you had learned to cope with that feeling over the years, but at least this time you were not alone.

Your boyfriend Donatello had discovered those downs of yours after a while, easily recognizing the signs. And he was a patient man. He would throw any projects of his on the side, only so he could focus on you. Even if he had to spend some days at your apartment by your side, so be it!

This time was no different. It had started a couple days ago, and here you were now, laying in bed. You were laying on your back, tired eyes stuck on the ceiling. You had a sleepless night, ruminating various thoughts and hoping you wouldn't wake the terrapin at your side with your frustrating turning around in bed. But now your mind was tired, your body too. You patiently observed the early sun rays slowly sliding across the room, through the blinds - small rivers of gold against the last shadows of the night. For a moment your gaze moved to the turtle sleeping peacefully to your right, his features serene.

How lucky you felt in this moment to have such an incredible being in your life... Knowing he would be by your side whenever you were facing your inner demons, that he would find just the right words to make you smile, laugh, or see the brighter side of things... It was a priceless gift that just kept on giving. Simply thinking about that matter did bring some tears to your aching eyes, any emotion ever so strong. A quiet sigh left you, trying to dry those damn trails.

"... Hey," started Donnie's voice in a tired tone.

You looked back to him, now noticing that he was awake. You attempted to smile, although weakly.

"I'm sorry," you said. "... Have some dust in my eyes."

"Of course," smiled the mutant back.

You noticed him open his arms lazily, nodding for you to come over. And as soon as you scooted closer, you felt this instant relief wash all over you. His warmth was now surrounding you, as well as his arms. Legs tangling in a natural occurence, you almost wished you could fuse together, just to absorb any brightness he could offer. Instead you chose to hide your face in the crook of his neck, taking in his scent and sighing once more, this time against his scales. The other was nuzzling you tenderly, his arms and hands slowly petting your form in a recomforting pattern.

"I love you so much," you murmured, letting yourself get lulled to his touch, feeling some long-awaited sleep coming your way.

"Me too, love. Always yours," replied Donnie back, keeping you close and not against the idea of some more minutes of relaxation.

In the early sunrise you finally found some solace, for once things starting to look a little brighter.
