a big part of the fun of engaging in media for me is being able to sort said media into puzzle pieces or building blocks, whichever metaphor you prefer, and then assemble them into some sort of organization in my mind. for venom comics, half the fun is being able to ramshackle a continuous storyline between the decades, sorting each issue and minor appearance into one continuity. for star wars, it is overthinking technology and worldbuilding, particularly in a way where i get to apply my interest in real astronomy. both of these approaches i recognize literally nobody else gives a shit about, and may not even be able to completed in full due to holes in canon, but well its great fun for me personally regardless. so whatever

FTH 2024 Creator Signups are OPEN!
The moment you've been waiting for has arrived! But before you rush straight to the signup form, note that a few things are different from last year:
You will not be able to edit your signup immediately, but you will be able to edit it. We're changing some things on the back end so that we can get posts up faster, but that means that when you get your email confirming your signup it won't have an edit link. Once we've processed your signup (which may take several days), we will send you a link to make edits. Please do NOT fill the signup form out again in order to edit a previous entry! Wait to hear from us.
Typesetting is now an option under Fan Labor. Remember that we only allow digital goods in the main auction - we'll be opening signups soon for the Craft Bazaar if you want to offer bookbinding or other physical crafts.
All Marvel-related fandoms are now under the Marvel top-level fandom (instead of MCU) and all DC-related are under DC. This includes comics. This allows us to stop worrying about, for example, whether Deadpool or Venom is MCU or what "DC Extended Universe" does and doesn't include.
Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone are both covered by the new Grishaverse fandom tag, House of the Dragon is part of ASOIAF/GOT, and 9-1-1 Lone Star is grouped with 9-1-1.
You can view this year's full list of fandoms here - remember that if the fandom you want isn't listed, there is a write-in option. However, check all possible names for your fandom before resorting to write-in! If your fandom is a spinoff, choose the fandom it's related to and specify in your auction notes which parts of canon/the universe you're willing to create for. Every fandom with subfandoms also has an "Any" option if you're willing to create for anything within the top-level fandom and an "Other" option to write in subfandoms.
Even if you've signed up before, please re-read the FAQ to re-familiarize yourself with our policies. If you're new to FTH, check out these tips for first-time creators (and also read the FAQ). It might also help to peruse last year's listings to get an idea for what kind of information people include and how we use the information you give us to form our tagging system.
Remember that you can offer up to three auctions, but you will need to fill out a separate signup for each of those. Each auction can only be for one type of fanwork, but can be offered in up to 3 fandoms (and unlimited subfandoms if you choose a fandom with subfandoms) or "Any fandom." Your bidder will get to choose from any of the fandoms in the listing, so please don't offer something you don't want to create just to get more eyes on your auction.
Signups will be open for two weeks, until February 19th, so there's no rush! Take your time and make sure you understand how it all works and what you're committing to. If you have any questions not covered here or in our FAQ, please email us at fandomtrumpshate @ gmail.com!
Ok, did you read all that? You know what's different from last year? You've refreshed your knowledge of our FAQ?
In that case, sign up for FTH 2024 here!

Beyond the Spiderverse Theory!!
contains spoilers for across the spiderverse
okay so in the next movie, beyond the spiderverse, i think miles’ dad will survive. somehow, someway he’ll be saved from his untimely death.
miles was told numerous times in across the spiderverse that he cannot have his cake and eat it too. and he retorts with “unless you have two cakes!” miles is unmoving on his belief of “spiderman always does both.”
while reading out what he wants the bakery to write on the cake, he’s told it won’t fit on one. so he opts for buying two cakes, but while being spiderman, stopping a villain and swinging to his apartment, (aka: trying to do both) he’s late for his parents’ party, both of the cakes are ruined, he misses his dad’s heartfelt speech and then gets grounded. essentially the lesson from this is that he has to choose his battles correctly, that he cannot do both.
when miles finds out his dad is supposed to die, he tells miguel that he can save his father and save the city/civilians, because spiderman ALWAYS does both, but like we‘ve seen numerous times, sometimes doing both just isn’t possible. in order to have one thing, you have to give up something else. he’s told that this is what being spiderman is all about, that this is what he signed up for.
miles isn’t satisfied with this answer, and says he’s gonna do his own thing.
a good portion of the movie focuses on the development of miles’ and his mom’s relationship, while him and his dad’s is still kind of rocky. he’s growing up right in front of her eyes and she has to change the way she parents, but expresses that she’s scared of losing her little boy to the world, and that she just wants to protect him because others might not have his best interests at heart— and we end up seeing that later on. our focus is pulled from this when we see what miles’ canon event is supposed to be— his dad’s death.
where i’m going with this? the one you expect is never the one they take. usually the character who we think is the safest, is actually the one who’s in danger.
in miles’ comics, during the battle with venom, he saves his father from dying but while this happens, the police accidentally shoot (and kill) his mother, rio, when they were aiming for venom. and as she’s bleeding out in his arms, this is when he finally confesses to her that he’s spiderman (something he didn’t get to do at the end of the movie because he was in the wrong universe). more happens w this in the comics but we know sometimes movies don’t follow the plot to a T, and beyond the spiderverse is supposed to be the end to his story.
so let’s replace venom with another villain that we’ve recently been introduced to, the spot. another ridiculously powerful villain that the cops will stupidly try and apprehend with guns that don’t stand a chance like they always do.
that being said, i don’t think they’re going to kill off miles’ dad.
i think they’re going to kill off his mom.

i hAVE FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX MY BLOG.
anyway so longer written-form content's gonna be easier to read now. >:) so i will give the links to my stuff, both essays and the fics i've written in this post.
some of the stuff i wrote a while ago. others are pretty new, like a violet essay.
so enjoy if you want (the keep reading will have all the links).
[Fanfiction]
they adopt a cat named floof | Wednesday
wednesday, for her girlfriend, gets a cat. she finds a way to bypass the “no pet” policy in order to do so. :)
Wenclair
stagger | Wednesday
Enid is her one exception, so Wednesday tries. Again, and again, and again. She gets it right, asking Enid to…not a date. Eventually.
Wenclair
just a bear (or some other wild animal) | Wednesday
“I’ve hibernated with some grizzlies. I know the difference." the story of the time when wednesday slept in a bear cave for a week. she was seven and knew what felt just right.
Back Again | Fallout 4
In other words, Piper Wright walked out of Diamond City with the woman written as the “View from the Vault.” Though, well, the city folk were quick to suspect that there was something else going on between them… And they weren’t wrong. So when Piper walked back into Diamond City without the woman, there was something wrong. Especially the longer she waited on the Publick Occurrences rooftop. Alcohol in her breath. Less shouting and interrogating for interviews. It was all just…wrong.
F!SS x Piper Wright
Bottom Bunk | LWA
With another Samhain Festival celebrated and slept off, Atsuko Kagari finds her room empty of Sucy and Lotte. Yet, she feels the warmth of another girl in her bed. And so a conversation is to be had.
Diakko/Dianakko
toxin | LWA
[toxin] - an antigenic poison or venom of plant or animal origin, especially one produced by or derived from microorganisms and causing disease when present at low concentration in the body. A definition, which, Sucy knows well. It’s why she doesn’t have a heart, nor any sense for what compassion can bring. Although, one night changes things, and maybe—just maybe—Akko proves Sucy otherwise.
Suakko
Sphynx | LWA
Sucy didn’t care about an hour of transformative magic, nor that it was supposed to be “fun” and all about “finding your inner animal.” Well, companion animal, which really meant cats and dogs because…magic. Or something stupid.  And Sucy was left cold and huddled underneath a curtain because she was this ugly naked chicken gremlin? …okay, maybe she did care a little bit.
Suakko
Burning a Cauldron | LWA
Chariot is always one to sleep in—which, frankly, irritates Anne to no end (being the early, responsible bird, after all). However…the early, responsible bird notices that this morning is different.
Finnelariot
She's a Peach, an Apricot | LWA
Amanda didn’t expect this. Lotte didn’t either. One burned of passion, a slip of carnality, yet not the words to reach the other so well-spoken. And the other, all the words in the world, from her books, yet not the body that could easily decipher what she wanted.
Amalotte
[Fandom Essays]
…so about that clementine comic: a (very long, sorry) essay | TWDG
Discussion on TWDG & canonicity, pre-comic full release
…about the clementine comic (again): why is she illiterate? | TWDG
Discussion on how weird the comic is about Clementine's knowledge and understanding of her own world (medically/medicinally and linguistically).
ERICSON'S WALLFLOWER: or bpd as a twdg fandom essay, & violet's analysis | TWDG
Exploration and deconstruction of Violet's character in regards to BPD, BPD as a disorder (with experiences pulled from my own), and how stigma gets in the way of understanding both.
Or or I am feral and am still frothing at the mouth over this character plz people appreciate violet 🥺🥺

where should i start reading your Rain World stuff about your OCs and such?
i don't really have any order in it so just jumpin into the oc tag n readin thru it would do, i guess?? though yeah,, tumblr isn't nice with the tags i won't lie, so i'mma compile some stuff for ya
there Are something of intro posts for the characters, though they've evolved a lot over time (originally the Anemoi Iterators were just not a thing, the only one i was meant to have was Fish with Zephyr serving only as a little neat backstory for one of the scugs connected to Fish. so Zeph especially has had a lot of evolution done to her character)
here are the posts: • Intro for Fish Inside a Birdcage, the Seafarer, the Tinkerer and the rest of their little family (x) (out of this Fish and Tinktink are most important n developed, with Seafarer bein a char i wanna work on a bit at some point) • Intro for Murder of Crows (she's a bg character for Moon's group, I rarely actually do stuff with her), Abet Zephyr, the Pan Wielder and few of the Scavs living in Fish's facilities (x) (this is also where The Children of Eo group is first mentioned) • Intro for the rest of Anemoi Iterators of The Children of Eo group, voice claims (Zephyr's is outdated) and the first look at world map, which i'm updating for myself as i'm workin on this stuff and will repost at some point so y'all can see the updates too (x) • List of Iterator City names (x) • Voice claim for Three Sparrows and updated one for Zephyr (x) • Spotto™ Ancients design reference post (x) • -sigh- "Who's Beppi?" (x) (here's him as a baby) • quick off the string in Ancient times AU designs for Euros 'n Boreas (x) • Sparrows' quickly put together art ref (proper one pending) (x)
Three Sparrows' lore is scattered basically all over over the place n she doesn't have a proper intro post yet
Some direct links for the convenience: • How the Great Cycle works in the Serotonin Take (a little add-on to it)
• Iterator anatomy lesson (mostly about the puppets) • Iterator anatomy lesson: detailing of the Hivemind that makes them up • Iterator anatomy lesson: personality development • Rambling about worldbuilding, mostly the Folk Gods (quite disorganized, explains The Saint though) • Ancients' hand mutilation in the name of the Global Religion • Ancients' mask culture • Ancients and their feeding face tentacles • Ancients' "hair" • Ancients and water habitats • Ancients, their venom and Also The Cleaning Slugs • Ancients' gills and some stuff with breathing • Three Sparrows character notes • Little drabble thing for Three Sparrows, though some things might not hold up • "Has Sparrows made any connections while in school?" • Three Sparrows and her slugcat reincarnation (lil continuations of it x, x) • "The Eo Iterators get off the string, who dies who thrives?" (not canon, except the Haboob comic at the beginning) • Zephyr and Moon swap as a characterization exercise that got a lil outta hand (not canon, but neat either way) • A continuation of the above, with Looks to the Moon in the Eo group + some talking about Abet Zephyr as a person • Fooling around with the concept of Zephyr knowing Pebbles, but then big explanation of Mission Self-preservation aka the biggest thing happening in the OC lore • "Can Euros run Doom?" • How did Caper of Euros and Three Sparrows get together romantically • Caper of Euros' priorities the lil comic • "What is Euros like during a Hivemind unsync?" + Three Sparrows the treasured component • Euros and Sparrows married?? • Caper of Euros' first case of the Rot • post 1st Rot reconcilation between the lovebirds • "Did Euros' entire Lab have to be rebuilt after the eradication of the 1st Rot?" • Sparrows' deathbed • Sparrows' Memory Crypt beef (x)• "Who's older? Notos or Haboob?" + Euros 'n Haboob's relationship • Gushing about the ending of the playlist for the group (link to the playlist itself here) • some Tinkerer and the Scavs fooling around content • tiny Seafarer post • what happened between Seafarer and Artificer? why were they separated?
(new text block cuz apparently tumblr has a character limit for that) • Iterator anatomy lesson: the antennas • Iterator anatomy lesson: sexuality and desire for pleasure • Ancients' blood • Ancients' skin texture • "How are Ancient's born?" • "Did Ancients' ancestors have even bigger teeth?" • Farmer Ancients weaponry and tools + Sparrows' encounter with a Red Centipede • "How'd Zephyr end up like that?" • "What are some of Zephyr's happiest memories?" • "Did any other continent have a bootleg Iterator situation like Zephyr?" • What was young Boreas like • Boreas, his batflies and what Desaevio was like • "Very beautiful, very powerful." Boreas animatic made by me sister • Angry Boreas? Let's try to fix him with a controlled shock • Filler Iterators stuff, especially introduction of Orion's Pathway • designing filler stuff a lil: NAE, Gem, high circle Sparrows outfit, first look at the Preacher, Expiation and Spore • Orion's helmet and RW constellations • some lore stuff for Orion • Orion's General • more on the Polar War • Fish and Pigeon Drones • Fish Inside a Birdcage Daycare for scav kits • "What is stored on Caper of Euros' puppet chamber pearls?" • How Boreas and Zephyr took Euros' romantic relationship with Sparrows the comic • Sparrows' daily routine • "Has Sparrows ever seen Euros without his faceplate?" • Iterator baby photos and first appearance of Sparrows' mom, Inkling of an Inbound Daybreak • "Does Sparrows hide her tail in her high circle outfit?" • Movement within an Iterator • "How does it feel like to respawn?"/Sparrows' first death described a little • How did that wedding of Euros n Sparrows' looked • "Does the Rot smell bad?" • "How did Boreas bail Sparrows out of getting fired after the 1st Rot case?" • Grandmama Sparrows • some stuff on Euros' 3rd Mechanic • Euros and his relationship to his memories of Sparrows • "Why do Biting Notos' colony worships teeth and the mouth?" • "Did Notos know something was wrong with its puppet?" • "What does Orion think about Notos' puppet design?" • Biting Notos' sins against its own kind • Inhale in Haboob colony (and herself) notes and ideas • some things on the relationship between Euros 'n Haboob • the Anemoi + Fish as slugcats • Fate of Boreas' Blessing in Saint Time • Ascending Biting Notos comic

No Laughing Matter - Part 10
Part 9
Ao3
Red Robin was somber, in contrast to his Powerpoint, as he stared down the other Bats. The Powerpoint displayed behind him had an ecto-green background, with font in red stating: "Operation: Phantom Justice"
Despite the garishness of the Powerpoint, the rest of the Bats were uncharacteristically serious as they waited for Red Robin's plan. They all knew the reason for this meeting; knew what they owed the teenager currently recovering from a dose of Joker Venom that would have permanently impaired anyone with a more mortal constitution. Batman himself was still on the Watchtower, keeping an eye on Phantom and his parents, but anyone else who could make it back to the mansion was here.
Tim hit the screen with a pointer. "This. Is Operation: Phantom Justice. The Justice League has been woefully unaware of a breach of human and meta-human rights right under its nose, and of the frankly horrific experimentation that has been justified by intense bigotry and unfortunate misunderstandings. Let's start at the beginning."
The slide changed, this time filled with overlapping pictures of glowing beings, ranging in form from amorphous floating blobs of what looked like viscous Lazarus-water, to individuals who looked human in all but glow and skin color.
"These are ecto-entities. Sometimes called "ghosts.""
"When you say ghosts..." Red Hood started, leaning forward.
"The still-conscious remnants of a once-living person, perpetuated by the imprint of strong emotion upon a sufficient supply of ectoplasm, which seems to be at least adjacent to Lazarus Water," Tim explained before the question could be finished. "Apparently not all Ecto-entities are ghosts, but all ghosts are Ecto-entities."
Hood leaned back, frowning under his helmet. If this… ectoplasm was related to Lazarus Water, what did that mean for him?  Well, whatever it meant could be figured out later.  After the kid who killed the Joker was safe from whatever Replacement was pointing them at.
Tim returned to the Powerpoint.
As he continued, covering the basics of Ecto-research and the activities of the Ghost Investigation Ward, shortened to "GIW", the mood in the room grew ever more somber. Finally, he moved into outlining the experiments the agency had conducted on their captives, documented in gruesome detail within the files Tucker had given him.
"Unfortunately," Red Robin finally stated, after reading off the almost comically-long list of increasingly-horrific experiments, "what the GIW has done is currently entirely legal according to the Anti-Ecto Acts, as despite the obvious sapience exhibited by Ecto-Entities, they have been legally listed as "entirely non-sentient." Thus, I propose a multi-point solution."
He flipped the slide. The background was bright red, with cyan text.
Three bullet-points slid onto the screen in order:
Tax Audit
Clark Kent Exposé
Rescue Operation
“First. There are few things more effective in dismantling corrupt organizations than a Tax Audit. After all, there are a lot of government funds being put toward funding a very small, otherwise irrelevant city, and it obviously isn’t being used to maintain the roads and shopfronts, as you’ve seen in previous slides.”
“This, combined with the convenient and anonymous release of several incriminating documents to the esteemed reporter Clark Kent, will ensure the GIW will be unable to sweep their crimes under the facade of public safety, even with their utilization of Phantom's rampage as "proof" of the destructive nature of Ecto-Entities. And if nothing else, they will be too busy countering the press attention to devote as many resources toward responding to our next step.”
Tim’s grin was honestly feral as he continued. “We need to get as many Ecto-Entities out of the hands of the GIW as possible. The tricky part will be timing the rescues so that the public can be shown proof and documentation of the inhumane experiments, but without giving the GIW an opportunity to take to ground and... liquidate their experiments, which they undoubtedly will do when it comes to light that the Justice League is investigating them for meta-human crimes.”
Spoiler raised her hand, not bothering to wait before speaking. “How’d they actually get these Acts passed in the first place?”
“Apparently, they were slipped in with some other funding bills during that stint Luthor spent as president.”
There was a chorus of grumblings over yet another hassle that Lex Luthor was leaving them. Because unfortunately, the Anti-Ecto Acts would bring up questions of the legality of such a raid on the GIW facilities. Which was why Batman and the rest of the League wasn’t here.
“We need to be quick and efficient with this,” Tim stated, leveling each of them with a stare. “There needs to be no question that what we are acting against is a drastic and horrific meta-rights violation, because if they have a chance to explain away their actions using the AEA, they will.”
“There are animal ghosts, too?” Robin asked, frowning. He had spotted what looked like a mastiff puppy among the general ecto-entity examples.
“It does appear so,” Tim replied.
“That may be more efficient in getting people to care,” Robin continued thoughtfully. “Not that it’s alright that... human ghosts are being experimented upon as well, but it will be easier for people to believe that something appearing to just be an animal is honestly friendly, rather than something attempting to manipulate them.”
"We'll make sure to get the recordings to Clark, too," Dick said.
“Which reminds me!” Tim broke in before everyone could begin planning and throwing ideas back and forth, “we’re going to need to do some updates to whatever equipment we bring in. Ectoplasm messes with electronics that haven’t been specifically designed to handle it, and we don’t want to lack proof just because our footage ended up as nothing but static.”
“I’m guessing that includes my helmet?” Jason asked.
“... yes.”
“Alright.” Jason pulled off his helmet and tossed it to Tim, eliciting some staring from the others. “Do what needs to be done to it, and nothing else. I’m going to go punch some dummies.”

would you be willing to recommend me some venom comic runs? i'm a comics guy generally but i've never read venom. recently watched the movie and it was baller.
Hey there friend! So, Venom is coming up on 35 years as of 2023 (wow!) so you have a lot of options. There's pretty much something for everyone out there, but given that you liked the movie, I can probably point you in the right direction...
If you can get your hands on trades (or even just use them as a guide for your favorite Digital Comics Avenue) that's gonna be your best bet. The Epic Collections (link to Wikipedia) are really comprehensive. The chart even has them in order! Handy!
If you don't want to be flipping between fifty different Spider-Man series, though, you can definitely start with some of the Venom-titled books! I've tried to pick ones that don't require a whole lot of backreading.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, easy starting point is going to be Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) #1-6. I strongly recommend reading Amazing Spider-Man #373-375 first if you can, since #375 is the first appearance of Anne Weying. LP is to this day one of my favorite series, and it has some of the best Venom and Spider-Man moments. All are written by David Michelinie, and pencils are by Mark Bagley or Ron Lim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you like Anne Weying, Venom: Sinner Takes All and Venom: Along Came a Spider are the two miniseries that feature her the most. Both are written by Larry Hama. The latter has art that is... kinda rough in my opinion, but if you can look past it, they're both neat. The other thing to keep in mind is that with ACAS is that it does take place in the middle of Spider-Man Clone Saga (well.. after Ben Reilly has taken up the mantle) so it's not as new reader friendly but it IS fun. I like when Anne whacks Ben.
Tumblr media
Are these comics good? Eh... "Sinner" is probably the stronger story of the two, but when you like Anne, you can't be too picky about what you get, unfortunately!
Tumblr media
I also absolutely have to recommend the Planet of the Symbiotes event, which immediately follows Venom: Separation Anxiety (one of my personal favorite series). I recommend "Separation" First and then just checking out a collection of the PotS event, like this one here (link to readcomicsonline). Otherwise you have to sort out which Super Specials to read and it's annoying and dumb. The nice thing about PotS is that it's an excellent story by Michelinie with.. hmm.. let's say inconsistent art, but it's very fun and even if you're a little lost by the Clone Saga stuff, don't worry about it!! You'll be fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, if you're looking for something a little more wacky, you can't go wrong with Venom: The Madness (W: Ann Nocenti, A: K. Jones) and Venom: Carnage Unleashed (W: Hama, A: Wildman, Nichols)! They are both very 90s off-the-wall insane and just like. Absolutely bonkers-nuts. The Madness also has the distinction of introducing Eddie (and Venom's!) first love interest since Anne. Mwah! 😘
If you'd like more modern recommendations, or if you're willing to check out other hosts, I'd be happy to provide those as well! But this should be a good starting point for some fun books. Happy reading, and if any other Venomaniacs have recommendations, feel free to add on!

Are you really a traitor when you get a career ending injury?
And I thought you'd be pretty defensive of your past, majesty. Seems kinda weird to talk about it with a complete stranger, wouldn't you agree? ;)
Also that is actual text on the documents, a medical record and a mission report. It's another mini headcanon, and ultimately can be disregarded by StarArtist. If anyone needs or wants to read the documents more clearly, I'll include them under the cut. I'm still considering on how exactly to end the comic. It will end on a hopeful note, but just what the characters will do is subject to changing.

Mission Review
This is, my I remind you, a high profile mission, and as such I cannot- for the life of me, Arthur -understand why you would recommend Troop 341 to such a task. I understand some of your points, but the risks are too great. Prisma is still not suitable to lead them, Meta has already been emotionally compromised by a similar mission, Dragato and Falspar are too immature and reckless, and Jercca is simply not prepared for something of this scale.
RECONSIDER IMMEDIATELY.

PRISMA KNIGHT (She/her/hers)
Copy abilities: Ice / Mirror
Prisma had been rushed to the medical center after a high profile mission resulted in an ambush. She was in a comatose state for six hours in which four medics had to administer an antivenom. When she came around, she was delirious and incoherent. After three days, it became apparent that the wounds she sustained would be permanent, having her wings sliced off and burned away by the venom. As of writing, Prisma has been discharged and awaiting next orders.

Now is probably a good time to talk about my reading order and what I plan on looking at for this blog, because, secretly... I've already skipped a couple things!
It's unfortunately very hard to find good release order reading lists for long-running Marvel series, but I'm currently mainly going off of the Complete Marvel Reading Order list for all of Earth-616 Spider-Man's appearances. This seems to be based primarily off of release dates, but with things slightly shuffled around so that multi-part stories don't get interrupted as much. Which is exactly what I want! But this list also contains 4273 comic appearances and counting as of September 2023, and, quite frankly? I ain't reading all that
So, what's my current strategy?
I'm going to TRY and read everything focused on the main universe Spider-Man. This, of course, means Amazing Spider-Man and future side-series such as Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, etc. Key word here is "try."
I am NOT covering every single cameo Peter has ever made in other heroes' series. I'm peeking at these to see how interesting these guest appearances seem and using my own discretion on what to cover. I've already skipped two guest spots where it seemed like they were just trying to plug Spider-Man on other books. Other things, like Peter meeting popular heroes for the first time, may seem more worthwhile.
I'm going to look at Marvel Team-Up because that's basically a Spider-Man series in all but name, but I can't promise I'll cover all 150 issues of it. We'll see. I may do some skipping with that
I am NOT planning on covering every spinoff starring characters such as Venom, Spider-Woman, Miles, etc. I may make some exceptions for stuff that's particularly good, but there are a LOT of spinoffs. It adds up
And honestly I don't really know what I'm gonna do when Peter starts joining teams like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four but that's a decision for future Bobby to make
And big crossover events...? I don't know. Those hurt my brain. Ask me how I'm gonna cover those when I get to Secret Wars in the '80s
Again, as I said up front with this blog, I'm running things differently than how TKP operates. I can read every single thing in the Archie Sonic universe and go into greater detail because that's only like 500-something issues total for a universe that's now over forever. Peter Parker continues to appear in multiple new comic issues every week. I'll be missing out if I only cover Amazing Spider-Man and none of the side material, but I have to be able to skim or outright skip stuff if I'm to retain my sanity.

10, 14 and 20 for ask game!
For 10: Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
All of them?!?! I write mainly in Dooku's Jedi era (pre-prequels? are we still calling it that?) and that was a super tiny part of the fandom back when the movies were actively coming out. It didn't seem possible anyone would care about it now, so having any readers is like... fucking AMAZING! I love each and every one of you DEARLY.
I'll also say, responses to my fics where I'm writing Dooku and Sifo-Dyas together has been interesting. I definitely lost a reader or two, which makes me sad, but I was really surprised and incredibly touched by the much larger positive response to it. Having been a queer person in the closet for a lot of my younger life, writing queer experiences openly is really cool to me.
For 14: If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?
Answered a little bit of this here and here. :D
For 20: What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?
I admit, I really like Milk Run. For those of you who haven't read it, in the fic, a "Milk Run" is a Jedi slang term for an easy lowstakes mission where nothing exciting happens. Dooku is recovering from an injury and so desperate to get out of the Temple that he'll take any mission - so he and Qui-Gon are assigned a classic good ol' Milk Run. Of course, this is wonderful because Dooku knows how to handle the most dangerous missions the galaxy can throw at him, but not how to sit still, and it's fun to write him doing things he's bad at.
It also gave me a thematic chance to explore a topic I love: Jedi working nontraditional Jedi jobs. Jocasta and Sifo-Dyas lives as Jedi who both serve the Order in less traditional "run in with your lightsaber out" roles. Jocasta obviously in the Archives, and Sifo-Dyas currently supervising a group of graduate students at a Jedi archeological dig site.
There's actually a snippet I love where Sifo-Dyas is trying to explain to Dooku that there are other ways to deal with a space pirate queen that kind of hits at the heart of the fic's Milk Run theme:
“She threatens you?” Dooku tried unsuccessfully to keep the outrage out of his voice. He couldn’t possibly follow Sifo-Dyas around for their whole lives finishing his fights for him. Even if he might still want to try.
“Not in a real way. It seemed like almost pageantry to her, or posturing. You know, her crew gets to see her face off with a Jedi, and I get to pull out my lightsaber and wave it around in front of the graduate students, all just good fun…I never thought she’d actually try something.” He scowled. “Especially not with the connivance of the asshole Arnet!
“Sifo…” The words "wave it around" were echoing surreally through Dooku’s head.
“I know, I know. I’m releasing my anger into the Force.”
“No, it wasn’t that…" In his own career as a Jedi, Dooku was occasionally called out to deal with especially troublesome pirates on missions that were more his typical, life-threatening dangerous style, decidedly not milk runs, or research on cultural sites. There was nothing of good fun or lightsaber-waving in the desperate violence of those encounters. “I was just going to say… your life… it is sometimes strange to me.”
“What, just because of the Queen Theo thing?”
“This situation where you and a space pirate recreationally antagonize each other for the entertainment of your subordinates is a fine example of what I mean.” Dooku scoffed. “Come to think of it, perhaps you ought to have slept with her after all. She might have been less inclined to eventually steal from you.”
“Oh, wow, so you know all about pleasing women now.”
Dooku shot him a venomous look. “I get by.”
Sifo-Dyas began to laugh. “I honestly don’t understand why people think you have no sense of humor. You’re completely hilarious.”

Hi, I don't know if you'd even answer this ask but I've been loving all your prompts and been sucked into the dp/dc crossover content.
Im curious about trying to make some oneshots or fics myself but I'm not well versed in dc at all except very basic knowledge so I'm really nervous.
Do you have any advise for how to start or suggestions to help some one jump right in?
Ok I'm gonna be using this slightly as an excuse to give y'all a DC reading guide and also:
Personal Opinion 1: You really don't have to read any comics to learn DC. I'd highly recommend going on Youtube and watching some summarizing History of the Batfamily videos so you know the general lore. Reading a bunch of solely DC-related fics also helps greatly. It can get you immersed in the world and learn tidbits of backstory and characterization without having to touch a single comic. if you feel confident enough that you know the character? Go for it!! If you're still unsure and you want to write it anyways? Have a beta reader who's well versed in DC help point out moments that may be OOC or help fix characterization a bit. You never know how good you are at writing that character until you put your pen to paper! Personal opinion 2: go to your local library, go to the graphic novel section, and see if any comics catch your eye. Pick it up and give it a read. There truly isn’t a perfect place to jump in for comics. Continuity is all Willy Nilly and confusing. There’s no perfect spot to jump in but there are personal recommendations or preferences that people will tell you to start on.
I highly recommend listening to podcasts about characters that you’re intrigued with to see if you want to spend the time researching and reading about said characters.
Other tertiary opinion.
I really only have Batman comic recommendations but a friend of mine gave me a list in order for Batman comics to read so here it is:
Batman Year One.
Batman Venom.
Batman Long Halloween.
Batman Dark Victory.
Robin Year One.
Batgirl Year One.
Nightwing Year One.
Batman Cult
Batman Death In The Family
Knightfall
Batman No Man’s Land
Under the Red Hood
Batman Zero Year
That’s what I got. You don’t have to read every single comic to know everything but at least reading a summary of the comic so you’re caught up and not confused as you go into the next comic is something I’d recommend. Batman Knightfall and No Man’s Land are super long and really a drag to read through. Like genuinely they’re painful as hell to read through. I’d recommend reading a synopsis online or listen to a podcast about it.
Other comics in general I’d recommend that I've read that I think are good depictions of the characters:
Superman: Up In The Sky. by Tom King.
John Constantine Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits. #41-46. by Garth Ennis & Will Simpson.
The Spectre by John Austrander.
Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil. by Jeff Smith.
Blue And Gold. by Dan Jurgens
Victor & Nora: A Gotham Love Story. by Lauren Myracle
Batman Vol 1 & 2 (The Court of Owls & The City of Owls). By Scott Snyder.
Again, there are definitely some better comics out there and a lot of comic runs I didn't add on. That's simply because I haven't read the others. Some of these characters you might not care for, and that's completely fine! You don't have to read them then.
Podcasts I'd reccomend:
Character Corner. Their takes and reviews are wonderful. I adore this podcast and found out about many amazing comic runs from this show.
Geek History Lesson. It has a gimmick and it's fun. It's not as in-depth as Character Corner but it does have a far larger array of Characters to listen to and learn about. There's also is this ao3 post that has a batshit insane amount of info on how to navigate and learn about Batman and Gotham

Practice was going to start in a few minutes, but Fukui found that he could not tear his eyes away from the scene happening at the entrance to the gymnasium. He stood next to the bleachers, one arm holding a basketball tucked between his elbow and side as he leaned his weight onto one foot. His brows were quirked in disbelief.
Across the gymnasium, holding up the double doors, Okamura was deep in animated conversation. It was an odd sight, seeing the hulking man of a captain standing there, red-cheeked and a grin practically splitting his face in half. What made it even more comical was his companion, a female student who didn’t even come halfway up the Yosen captain’s height. She had her own wide smile on her face, eyes crinkled at the corners as she craned her neck up at Okamura.
“What is thou looking at?” Liu’s voice came from behind Fukui, making the vice-captain jump a bit. When he turned to glare back at the small forward player, Fukui was met by Liu's usual expressionless stare.
Fukui nodded his head in the direction of the double doors. “Look who’s chatting with our favorite muscle gorilla. I wonder who the girl is.”
With Liu now joining Fukui, both boys continued to watch as Okamura continued his conversation. They began to notice small things – like how the girl seemed to restart the conversation every time it seemed to lull for a moment too long; or how she seemed to laugh at a lot of Okamura’s jokes, despite the fact they knew he wasn’t funny; or how she simply stepped to the side as Himuro and Murasakibara entered the gym.
“Holy shit,” Fukui breathed out in a low whisper. Himuro quirked a brow in question as he approached his senpai. “That girl just ignored you.”
Himuro glanced back toward the open gymnasium doors, finding said girl still standing there and talking with Okamura. He looked back at Fukui, brows furrowed. “Is that a bad thing?”
“Girls never ignore you, pretty boy,” Fukui deadpanned as he clapped a heavy hand onto Himuro’s shoulder. His curiosity was starting to get the better of him – he needed answers from Okamura. Lifting the same hand, Fukui cupped it around his mouth and began yelling, “Hey, captain, practice is gunna start! Get your ass over here!”
Fukui’s hollering had cut Okamura off mid-sentence. The vice-captain couldn’t help but think Okamura looked pretty dumb standing there with his mouth still hanging open, no sound coming out. Then in the next second, Okamura was calling back, “Be there in a second!”
The rest of the team watched as their captain turned back to the tiny female student, a large hand on the back of his neck as he bowed his head slightly downward. They didn’t have to read his lips to know he was giving her an awkward goodbye. Then, as she turned to leave with that sweet smile still on her face, Fukui saw it.
She touched Okamura’s arm before leaving!
The glare that Fukui fixed onto Okamura when the captain finally crept by was venomous. “No way in hell you managed to get her as a girlfriend.”
The accusation had a sudden rush of embarrassing color on Okamura’s face. He spluttered a bit, having to double take at Fukui in order to ensure he had heard right. “We’re not dating. ____-san and I have a group project together. We were discussing our topic.”
“Thou was flirting.” At Liu’s accusation, Fukui nodded vigorously. “Badly, if I might add.”
The embarrassment Okamura felt quickly devolved into shame. He placed a large hand over his face, trying to hide away the burning color on his cheeks. He could hear his team snickering at his expense and it made him want to hide away for a moment.
“Though she must not mind your shitty flirting since she was doing it back.”
This caught Okamura’s attention. He peeked at his teammates from between his fingers. “She was flirting with me?” Fukui looked at Okamura incredulously – how did the guy not realize that? The vice-captain’s expression was enough for Okamura to finally put the pieces together. “I have to ask her out.”
“Fukui-dono can help you with that. He was gracious enough to help me last time.”
