Well fuck. My choir is doing Considering Matthew Sheppard for our spring concert in a week and a half. We did a first rehearsal with the narrator tonight.
The narration right before my big dramatic angry solo (which was already emotionally A Lot)? It starts with talking about the vigils I was at as a brand new baby queer out on her own for the first time, and ends with "God Hates Fags".
Yeah, they are getting Rage. So. Much. Rage. Rage for Matthew. Rage for me and my queer peers. Rage for our queer ancestors. Rage for the queer kids and adults who are still being beaten and left for dead.
I haven't had an adrenaline rush that bad for... I don't even know. Thank goodness the piece after is just the men so if I need to get outside and literally touch grass, I can do that, instead of just silently sobbing like I did tonight.

You know, prosecutors have always been weirdly chill about the fact that the defense shows up with.. literal magic and ghosts and all other means of things that should not be admissible in court at all, but I think so far my favorite reaction has been Klavier Gavin’s, who’s response to the defense using literal magic, is just, word for word “Very cool.”

Thinking about the newer bats (Duke, Cass, Steph, Tim) speculating on Jason's age because he looks like a recently divorced 30 y/o but he's younger than Dick, and he acts like a 50 year old man (he still has a Nokia, out of the loop on Internet and pop culture, primarily listens to dad rock), and after they've exhausted all their guesses Dick breezes in, informs them he's like 24, and then leaves.
The bats then have to come to terms with the fact that Jason NINETEEN when he took over the criminal underground.

I understand the desire to make characters who are Liked, it’s valid, but I find it so much funnier to string mine together with a generous amount of looney tunes bullshit and resentment.

Aimee — tattoo and body piercing
I like being a girl…no one knows I am a woman, let alone a lesbian. My beard is natural, there is no imbalance.

Are you a student who is unable to donate to Palestine, but still want ways to show your support?
Me too! Unfortunately, searching up ways for students who can't drive, spend money, or drop school for a week to show solidarity for Palestine just comes up with "centrist" (if not blatantly pro-israel) articles for teachers telling them how to stay neutral during discussions with students. So! Here are some ways that I've thought of to bring pro palestine sentiment into your school and community! You are more than encouraged to add on any ideas of your own!
Wear shirts, pins, or anything outwardly pro palestine. If you can't find something, make it.
Email your representatives. Email Congress. Email the White House, or whatever your country's equivalent would be. Let the people in charge know you want a ceasefire
Talk to your local library about holding an educational night about the genocide, and/or about Palestinian culture.
Talk to your peers. Find people who share your views. Create a fuss together.
Talk to your teachers about it. Having an authority figure on your side could make things so much easier for you.
Make stickers, posters, pamphlets, etc to put up around your school, town/city, anywhere you can.
Educate yourself on anti-palestine talking points and how to refute them in a calm and logical manner. (Palestinian Toolkit is a great website for that)
Speak up! It's fucking scary, but if you can, don't let people's bigotry go unchecked. (You can use knowledge from the last point to make it easier to talk)
But also, know when to give up. It sucks, but not everyone is worth wasting your time debating. Some people won't change their mind no matter what.
