#why does Rachel keep doing this to Hera

..Echo and Hera being Canon is the most insane thing in the fucking world.
Like..OK so I guess Hera just LOVES blue people. Nevermind the fact she and Zeus fucking love each other (despite their marriage being very terrible, cuz of him.) It would've been AMAZING. To see her reflect on everything, talk to him about her problems, about their marriage problems, how she misses him, how she wants to kick his ass for everything he put her through. We could've had THAT. But no!!! We got this half baked ship cuz Rachel can't write couples or plots worth shit!!
Hera LOVED Zeus and then she fucking friend zones the husband she's loved and known for literally centuries. Be so fuckkng fr.
Also..why does Hera need to..die to get rid of Kronos?? This plot is ridiculous. How is this feminist??? All the women need to suffer and get hurt to be strong??? To defeat the men??? Be so fucking FOR REAL THIS IS STUPID. END THIS.
And then all the people there to defeat Kronos?? They didn't really do shit now did they 🙄 are they just standing at the door like dumbasses now? The hell Is Tartarus doing?? How is he losing control of Kronos AGAIN.
God I'm so--- agitated.
Lore Olympus has Hera committing emotional affairs out the wazoo when she'd never do that, especially with Hades and the assistant ZEUS hired to fucking keep watch of her??? Cmon.

Note
Was the Hera×Echo thing for real?! Was it like planned??? It doesn't feel like it was planned! It feels like Rachel just wanted to queerbait to gather more new readers wtf
yeah it's exactly that tbh
FASTPASS SPOILERS AHEAD !!!
like what more realistically happened is she saw people headcanon'ing Echo and Hera and went "yeah sure I'll do that!" without actually writing the fucking relationship.
This was even a problem back in S2 with Echo's character as a whole, she's introduced as this mysterious 'double agent' character who's almost definitely working for Zeus-
Tumblr media
-but then aside from two scenes involving Echo accompanying Hera to the motel to retrieve Persephone's things and Echo warning Daphne that Apollo clearly isn't 'over Persephone' (because he had, y'know, barged into Hera's office demanding Hera's blessing) the whole "Echo is a double agent for Zeus" thing was only confirmed after Daphne was turned into a tree and Echo said "FUCK YOU ZEUS, I'M NOT GONNA DO YOUR DIRTY WORK ANYMORE!" which ... huh? Where's the plot? It feels like there was an entire story there that just got dumped entirely so that Hades and Persephone could play golf with diamonds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like this was presumably where Echo ditched her obligation to Zeus, but it had nothing to do with Hera, it was because she heard (I'm assuming from Thanatos) what happened to Daphne.
After that we only ever see Echo again when it's implied that her and Hera had some kind of falling out. No idea what over, maybe it was Hera finding out that Echo was a double agent, maybe Hera called her a slur, we have no clue what. But it's sorta just tacked on during an ongoing monologue about how Kronos has affected her.
Tumblr media
The only other 'hint' we got towards it was Ares calling Echo Hera's 'girlfriend' but that doesn't mean a whole lot when we've literally never seen these two have more than two scenes together.
Tumblr media
So now Rachel making them kiss feels more like her taking credit for writing a plotline that doesn't exist and was fabricated entirely in the audience's headcanon. And this is something Rachel does a lot, she basically relies entirely on her audience filling in the blanks for her nothingburger plot and then of course gets to take all the credit for being a "smart and inclusive writer". Where? Literally where the fuck is the actual writing?
Imagine if we had gotten a proper B-plot showcasing the relationship between Echo and Hera. Echo is working for Hera as a double agent and doesn't want to blow her cover, while Hera is suspicious because she worries her husband is up to something. Over time they work together, grow closer, Hera realizes that Echo makes her feel a kind of happiness that Zeus hasn't made her feel in a long time, Echo realizes that she can't keep lying to Hera about why she was hired and decides she values Hera's loyalty and respect over Zeus' because she has feelings for Hera now. Maybe Hera finds out about Echo being a double agent, either by overhearing a conversation between Echo and Zeus or because Echo outright tells her, and eventually it resolves with them finally admitting their feelings towards one another and Hera realizing that she's felt trapped in a loveless marriage that's essentially serving the same purpose as her union with Kronos, sacrificing her well-being for the good of a King. They kiss and Hera confronts the original perpetrator of her trauma, Kronos, ready to end the cycle of her abuse once and for all.
Like, the plot is right fucking there but Rachel keeps dumping it in favor of focusing on the boring ass heterocis nightmares that are Hades and Persephone, who get SO MUCH FUCKING SCREENTIME of just telling each other how amazing they are and how much they're in love (meanwhile we didn't even actually get to see or hear what Hera wrote in the letter to Echo, we have to just assume) but still tries to take credit for writing queer stories by just vaguely hinting at a queer relationship that has had zero development or actual screentime. It's Hestia and Athena all fucking over again.
It also doesn't bode well for LO passing the whole "bury your gays" test because Hera is literally marching to what she's expecting to be her death. So she's established as a bisexual character, just for her to be sent to her death, while Echo will undoubtedly get shoved out of the plot again.
And, I shouldn't even have to remind y'all of this, but Hera has been racist to nymphs in the past and Echo was her direct subordinate, her personal assistant.
It just makes zero sense to me why Rachel would suddenly force in a queer relationship between two characters who weren't traditionally gay in the original myths (once again removing the queer aspects of CANONICALLY LGBTQ+ GODS AND GIVING THEM TO THE STRAIGHTS INSTEAD) when Hera's story had more than enough to work with through her trauma from both Kronos and Zeus and her loyalty as the goddess of marriage that's kept her trapped in a loveless and abusive relationship. So now instead of having a subplot that could have been about the goddess of marriage realizing that no one should have to stay in a marriage that's robbing them of joy and the "sanctity of marriage" isn't worth being miserable for life, we have a subplot where the goddess of marriage who is racist to nymphs routinely cheats on her husband and now confesses her love to a nymph who we never even saw her interact with outside of two instances where it was simply a working relationship.

Lore Olympus ep. 256 critique
A note from last episode
One thing I forgot to mention in my last episode critique is why would Apollo even be allowed to take the throne? Hera still exists. Zeus has brothers who could step up. Other legitimate children. Obviously, Apollo is the “de facto” ruler for the sole reason that the plot needs to be driven forward somehow, but realistically Apollo would be, like, the last person who’s allowed to step up. Speaking of which, where is Artemis? She knows what Apollo is like. Why doesn’t she step up if they’re letting literally anyone rule?
Tumblr media
Ah, yes, of course. Our fearless protector of women, everyone. I have so many things I could say about Artemis and her portrayal in this comic but for the sake of keeping this post relatively short, let's move on.
The fucking nightie
Oh. My. God. The nightgown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I literally had to put down my phone when I first saw her in this. The rage I felt and still feel when I look at her.
Persephone is a queen and she just found out her brother-in-law/supreme ruler is in critical condition after being poisoned with a "mystery substance". Jfc have a little decency. And I don't want to hear "Oh WeLl ShE oBvIoUsLy DiDn'T hAvE tImE tO cHaNgE" or "sHe DoEsN't HaVe AcCeSs To ClOtHiNg" because she so obviously did. Hades is wearing a full-ass suit. She had time to cut her hair and "accessorize" with a stupidly oversized hat and cape. She is a QUEEN. She has access to all the clothing she could possibly want. Persephone has no excuse for showing up in a skimpy little nightgown.
I just-
Tumblr media
Persephone is not a good queen
Let’s be real here. Persephone is a terrible queen. What have we, as readers, actually seen her do for the betterment of the underworld.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She doesn't even follow through on her "promise" to help with the influx of the dead. Instead, she focuses on her own personal problem of her powers taking a massive shit because of a deal she made with an unknown being (which was her own choice). I mean, who could've foreseen the consequences of making a shoddy deal with being you've literally had no previous interactions with. Not me, that’s for damn sure /s
Let's see what Persephone has done thus far leading up to and during her reign as queen:
terrorized lower-class citizens
caused the return of Kronos
caused a child deity to be held hostage/abused by Kronos
Tartarus being controlled by Kronos (caused by Persephone)
the mortal realm dying
still hasn't established Elysium
verbally abused recently deceased mortals because they're confused and haven't provided a resounding yes to help with... whatever it was she was trying to do.
lots of sex
letting 2 beings who have no business listening to a leadership meeting listen in anyways because it's "background noise"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yep, all the actions of a great queen.
Also, side note, when have we ever seen Hecate be nosey? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Hecate has pretty much always looked out for her best interests and tried not to get involved in others' drama. Am I surprised that Rachel is changing a character's personality? No. Am I disappointed? At this point, also no. Let's continue on.
The meeting
The meeting was certainly… something. I will say I loved Apollo getting his shit rocked by Ares. But after that, Apollo says this:
Tumblr media
I mean... he's kinda right? Yes, it was all a big ploy to get specifically Persephone there, but Apollo isn't wrong. Persephone does have a habit of hiding in the underworld and letting Hades deal with her shit instead of facing her problems head-on. Yet another fantastic trait to tack onto her resume as queen.
And on that note, we circle back to the beginning of this post. After Hades has his big-boy temper tantrum, Athena and Amphitrite rightfully point out a few things:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Athena is right, Apollo has no claim to the throne, not when Hera is still around and especially not as a bastard child of Zeus. In terms of a line of succession (especially since all of his children excluding Hebe are grown), Athena would be the best candidate for this temporary position. She's the goddess of wisdom. Who else could fit this role? Poseidon and Amphitrite are busy ruling the oceans, Hades and Persephone are off doing whatever, Ares is all brawn and no brain, and Hephestus wants nothing to do with his family. I mean, we haven't actually had any kind of serious interaction involving him since like halfway through s2 I'm not counting those 2 little portions in s3 with Aphrodite.
And once again, we have a character that is so close to figuring it out but I guess we can't be affording too many brain cells to Amphitrite since she was to share with all the rest of the characters. Also, rip Aphitrite and all her pretty loops and swirls. I miss the individuality the characters had back in s1.
Before the meeting can continue any further, Demeter bursts in deeply distressed and crying out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
B-bbb-but how can we tell if the mortal realm is actually dying if we don't have a handy little message at the end of the chapter that clarifies whether or not this is a metaphor???? Rachel, you know your audience only has the reading comprehension skills of a kindergartener, how do you expect us to cope??
Sorry lol.
Final thoughts
Surprisingly I found this chapter to be a little short, but I don’t know if that’s just me. Again I wouldn’t say that this chapter is any worse than 255 but it’s not great either, y’all know the drill by this point.
Until my next post! I’m hoping to be all caught up by early next week? And then I can start posting more fun things that aren’t chapter critiques 👀

LO THEORY:
Okay before I say anything I would like to say that I have little to no evidence of this even being true it’s quite literally something that I thought up a few seconds ago so it’s a little loose but also beware cause it’s really dark. But what if the reason why LO is so eerily misogynistic, fetishy, male gaze-y, etc is because we’re not actually getting the actual story POV from Persephone but from Hades this entire time.
Think about you guys we know that Hades is a bad guy and that he casually does bad things constantly yet gets away with them for some reason. What if none of its true and everyone hates him because he’s so delusional? For example, how his employees are being verbally abused everyday by him but the comic makes it a joke? It could all be in his mind, he’s the one manipulating it into being a joke so that it wouldn’t be taken seriously. Persephone believing that Hades is a good man? What if in reality she’s trying to get away from him at all points in time yet Hades has convinced himself that he’s the best guy for her. The way that Demeter keeps worrying about her daughter? What if he’s been keeping her in the Underworld for the past 10 years and he’s the one manipulating us into thinking she’s just some “old hag” that Persephone wants to get away from. The reason why he’s her shining knight, why he’s so perfect for her, why he needs her so much is because all of this is his fantasies and delusions that he truly believes are real.
What if Persephone’s friends’ ideas of him aren’t real either? Daphne telling Thanatos to get over Persephone being favored, all Hades she actually comforted him and discussed about how terrible he is and how she missed her friend Persephone. Thanatos forgiving him when he came to his house? Never happened and in fact Thanatos kept trying to keep him from breaking down the door while him and Daphne watched in horror of him screaming to forgive him after denying him access the first time. Hera being on board with Persephone being his wife? Also never happened, Hades discussed with Hera about courting Persephone and he did it in such a disturbing way that Hera threw him out and banished him from asking again. Hecate being his right hand man? Not even true actually, as she watches him dive deeper into madness and continues to commit horrible atrocities to innocent beings in the name of love she continues to try and reason and get him to understand how sick and deranged he’s gotten as she watches him absolutely corrupt the Underworld completely. Hermes and Eros coming over to speak with Persephone? Probably are just meetings on how they’re going to get her out and giving Persephone (in secret of course since Hades wants Persephone and Demeter to have zero contact with each other) hope in leaving by gifting her letters that her mother wrote to her as the winter rages on from above in protest of Hades keeping her daughter. The list goes on to all the things that he’s been imagining inside of his head to comfort him while he’s doing all of this terrible stuff.
Think of Lolita the book actually how the author wanted to write it from the POV of the creep and make his narrative super unreliable and not true of what’s actually going on? I’m thinking something like that. And since in the theory Hera turned him away he had no choice but to use the pomegranate to keep her there for half and half once he finally (sort of) gets defeated. But it’s not a happy take since Persephone always has to be dragged back to the Underworld to be with Hades and his sick and disgusting mind because of his obsession with her.
It’s extremely dark honestly but it would make everything make a little more sense. Besides LO has more horror aspects if anything and I genuinely believe that Rachel could’ve used it to her advantage.

III. Mom? Pick Me Up, the Kids Are Being Mean
"What's your story, Ara?"
"I was six when my satyr found me, Clarisse was his original mission."
"Clarisse was your roadtrip buddy? That must've sucked."
I look at Percy with a recriminatory glare. "She was younger and easier to scare... she kept it together for me, though."
"You've been brave so far," he points out. "Clarisse probably made it sound like a bigger deal."
"Ara's a coward," Annabeth says casually. "She's never wanted to go on quests, I'm surprised she agreed to this."
Percy scowls. "I told you not to come if it scared you."
"I'm not scared."
The truth is that I'm okay, I have two older demigods looking after me. I don't tell him that though, I don't want to pressure him.
"Ara..."
"I mean it!"
"I'm glad you came," Annabeth admits. "I'll take you to my quest too. You're full of surprises..."
Tumblr media
"Thank Hades, I found you!" Lily seizes Ara's hand and pulls her in the direction of the Big House. "Piper fainted—Rachel wants to see you."
"Rachel's here?" Ara picks up her pace. "Thank Apollo!"
"Everything okay with the new guy? You didn't look very happy when he got claimed."
She shakes her head. "When we rescued this group, I got this feeling..."
"What kind of feeling?"
Ara dismisses Lily without explaining. "See you at lunch."
"You know where to find me," Lily's not pleased, but she doesn't show it. The girl squeezes Ara's shoulder before going away.
When Ara arrives, Jason's already there and Piper's on a couch, still unconscious. Rachel and Annabeth are standing side by side.
"What happened?"
"We've got to heal her," Jason demands. "There's a way, right?"
"Of course there is, she just fainted," Ara frowns. "What happened?"
Chiron places his hand on Piper's forehead. "Her mind is in a fragile state. Rachel?"
"As soon as I got to camp, I had a premonition about Hera's cabin. I went inside. Annabeth and Piper came in while I was there. We talked, and then—I just blanked out. Annabeth said I spoke in a different voice."
"A prophecy?"
"No. The spirit of Delphi comes from within. I know how that feels. This was like long distance, a power trying to speak through me."
"Chiron, what happened back there—I've never seen anything like it," Annabeth says gravely. "I've heard Rachel's prophecy voice. This was different. She sounded like an older woman. She grabbed Piper's shoulders and told her—"
"To free her from a prison?" Jason guesses.
Annabeth stares at him. "How did you know that?"
Chiron makes a gesture over his heart, then he looks at the blond boy. "Jason, tell them. Annabeth, the medicine bag, please."
Jason explains something about an old woman claiming to be his patron. "So does this happen often?" He asks after a brief moment of silence. "Supernatural phone calls from convicts demanding you bust them out of jail?"
"Your patron," Annabeth frowns. "Not your godly parent?"
"No, she said patron. She also said my dad had given her my life."
If someone knows about patrons, that's Ara. Her mind itches with discomfort, she has to tell them about what she saw with Leo.
"You said the storm spirit on the skywalk—he claimed to be working for some mistress who was giving him orders, right? Could it be this woman you saw, messing with your mind?"
"I don't think so. If she were my enemy, why would she be asking for my help? She's imprisoned. She's worried about some enemy getting more powerful. Something about a king rising from the earth on the solstice—"
"Not Kronos," Annabeth gazes at Chiron in alarm. "Please tell me it's not that."
He keeps his eyes on Piper. "It is not Kronos. That threat is ended. But..."
"But what?"
"But now we have a new threat coming," Ara completes, sort of grumpily. "Someone else decided to shoot their shot—"
"Ara."
"Percy's missing, and the camp's in danger. Ten minutes ago I saw that old lady Jason mentioned and—"
"You saw her?" Jason interrupts her. "Did she talk to you?"
"Piper needs rest. We should discuss this later," Chiron intervenes.
"Or now," The boy presses. "Sir, Mr. Chiron, you told me the greatest threat was coming. The last chapter. You can't possibly mean something worse than an army of Titans, right?"
"You told him what?" Ara steps forward. "You knew this was going to happen?"
"Oh," Rachel says in a small voice. "Oh, dear. The woman was Hera. Of course. Her cabin, her voice. She showed herself to Jason and Ara at the same moment."
"Hera?" Annabeth sneers. "She took you over? She did this to Piper?"
"And your father gave you to her?" Ara glances down at Jason's tattoo. "Like, as an offering?"
"I think Rachel's right," he seems slightly uncomfortable. "The woman did seem like a goddess. And she wore this—this goatskin cloak. That's a symbol of Juno, isn't it?"
"It is?" Annabeth makes a face. "I've never heard that."
"Of Juno, Hera's Roman aspect, in her most warlike state. The goatskin cloak was a symbol of the Roman soldier."
"So Hera is imprisoned?" Rachel questions. "Who could do that to the queen of the gods?"
"Well, whoever they are, maybe we should thank them," Annabeth replies heatedly. "If they can shut up Hera—"
"Annabeth, she is still one of the Olympians. In many ways, she is the glue that holds the gods' family together. If she truly has been imprisoned and is in danger of destruction, this could shake the foundations of the world. It could unravel the stability of Olympus, which is never great even in the best of times. And if Hera has asked Jason for help—"
"Fine! Well, we know Titans can capture a god, right? Atlas captured Artemis a few years ago. And in the old stories, the gods captured each other in traps all the time..."
Tumblr media
"So Ares and Aphrodite—they have a thing going?"
"That's old gossip, Percy. Three-thousand-year-old gossip."
"What about Aphrodite's husband?"
"Well, you know... Hephaestus. The blacksmith. He was crippled when he was a baby, and thrown off Mount Olympus by Zeus. So he isn't exactly handsome. Clever with his hands and all, but Aphrodite isn't into brains and talent, you know?"
"Reason why I'm good for nothing," I huff. "Why couldn't she be the goddess of... I don't know, baking..."
"She seems to like bikers," Percy teases me. "Maybe she'd favor you if you become one."
Annabeth shakes her head. "You just need to find your thing and stick to it, Ara."
"Gee, how didn't I think of that!"
"Hephaestus knows about them, then?" Percy gives me a look that's it's clearly meant to shut me up.
"Oh sure," Annabeth replies. "He caught them together once. I mean, literally caught them, in a golden net, and invited all the gods to come and laugh at them. Hephaestus is always trying to embarrass them. That's why they meet in out-of-the-way places, like... Like that."
"The tunnel of love?" I snort. "A bit cliche."
Grover and I stand to the side while Percy and Annabeth slip down the empty pool. I stare at the cupid next to me and the Eta that's carved on it.
A net starts to close around them, Hephaestus's kids are good at building stuff, but this is a whole other level. Tiny spider robots encircle Annabeth and Percy, cameras appear, ready to broadcast the mess.
"Guys!" Percy yells at us. "Get into that booth! Find the 'on' switch!"
I click and press but nothing happens. Then water bursts out of the tanks at Percy's orders. The cameras follow as they move at great speed toward the exit, they jump out and Grover uses his magical shoes to catch Percy and Annabeth.
I stare at the trap, a creation that's harmless but devastating to godly egos. I'm immediately drawn to the idea of making something with my bare hands that could hold this much power.
Tumblr media
"The gods need heroes to do their will down here on earth," Rachel says. "That's right, isn't it? Their fates are always intertwined with demigods."
"But Jason's got a point," Annabeth counts. "Why him? Why take his memory?"
"And Piper's involved somehow. Hera sent her the same message—Free me. And, Annabeth, this must have something to do with Percy's disappearing."
"Let's not forget that son of Hephaestus, Leo" Ara points out. "He was with me when I saw Hera, and he saw her too."
The girls look at the centaur. "Why are you so quiet, Chiron? What is it we're facing?"
"My dear, in this, I cannot help you... I am so sorry."
"You've never..." Annabeth gapes. "You've never kept information from me. Even the last great prophecy—"
"I will be in my office. I need some time to think before dinner. Rachel, will you watch the girl? Call Argus to bring her to the infirmary, if you'd like. And girls, you should speak with Jason. Tell him about—about the Greek and Roman gods."
Ara starts to follow Chiron out of the room, but she stops halfway. What's the point? Harassing her mentor with questions won't help, he doesn't look pleased about their situation either.
"I'm sorry," Jason mumbles. "I think me being here... I don't know. I've messed things up coming to the camp, somehow. Chiron said he'd sworn an oath and couldn't talk about it."
"What oath?" Annabeth frowns. "I've never seen him act this way. And why would he tell me to talk to you about the gods..." Her eyes land on something next to Jason. "Is this gold? Do you remember where you got it?"
"No. Like I said, I don't remember anything."
"Hang on..." Ara draws out her compass. "Annabeth, look!" The item has golden hues, the same color as Jason's. "The element we couldn't identify before... it's gold!"
Annabeth turns to exit the room. "If Chiron won't help, we'll need to figure things out ourselves. Which means... Cabin Fifteen. Rachel, you'll keep an eye on Piper?"
"Sure," the redhead takes a seat. "Good luck."
"Hold on," Jason says. "What's in Cabin Fifteen?"
"Maybe a way to get your memory back," Annabeth raises a brow. "Ara, you're coming or not?"
"I've got no choice," she sighs, putting her compass away.
Tumblr media
"Why are you smiling?"
"That trap was really cool."
"You liked the trap?" Percy makes a face.
"I didn't enjoy what it did, though it was a great bonding experience," I joke. "I just... I have a soft spot for flashy stuff! The cupids and the cameras... it was breathtaking."
"Yeah, and it wasn't you trapped in it," he scoffs.
"Percy, there must be a reason why my Mom married him. I know what the myth says," I roll my eyes. "But no one can control love! Hephaestus never tried to, no one's ever been fair to him, so he lets her be free and in exchange, she doesn't ask him to be something he's not."
"Aren't you angry he humiliates your mother?"
"My mother is incapable of feeling that. Anger, perhaps, but not shame," I lean my head on his shoulder. "I'm just saying Hephaestus lives for his machines, so he lets my mom do her thing. That's cool."
Percy thinks Aphrodite married the god to keep Zeus off her back. He doesn't want to mess with my optimism at the moment though, so he keeps it to himself.
I fall asleep.
Tumblr media
I'm walking through an ancient town, the road is busy with people."There you are!" An old lady talks to me in ancient Greek. "Arche, stop wandering!"
"But it's tiresome!" I complain. "Give me something to do!"
The woman huffs, looking skeptical. She gives me something to do anyway.
"Hi!" The seller in the first tent I visit starts listing everything, but I can only stare at their warm eyes.
"I..." I gulp. "I am..."
"Agape!" A man yells.
The teen gives a start. "What!" They pout. "You said I could help!"
"You must excuse the child," the man approaches me. "Can't stay still."
"It's fine," I whisper hoarsely. Agape smiles, it's a sort of teasing, crooked grin. I don't want to go, but I don't know why I want to stay. "I'll see you..."
It was a promise.
Tumblr media
The trip to Hypnos cabin confirms only Hera can give Jason his memories back, but why did she take them away in the first place?
Since Percy went missing, Ara's expecting to get disturbing nightmares, but all she's seen so far are snippets of past lives that give her zero answers. She hates dreaming.
She stands next to Chiron during the campfire, arms crossed and scowling. She's always sulking nowadays, even before her brother's disappearance. The old campers still treat her like before, and the ones who didn't know her look at her as if she could burst into flames at any moment, neither of those two options are good.
"...alive and with most of your limbs attached. In a moment, I promise we'll get to the s'mores, but first—"
"What about capture the flag?"
Ara glares at the cabin five campers. "Yes," Chiron nods. "I know the Ares cabin is anxious to return to the woods for our regular games—"
"And kill people!"
"—However, until the dragon is brought under control, that won't be possible. Cabin Nine, anything to report on that?"
Nyssa stands up. "We're working on it."
"How, Nyssa?"
"Really hard."
The kids start to complain and Chiron quiets them down. "We will have to be patient! In the meantime, we have more pressing matters to discuss."
"Percy?" Someone asks out loud.
Everyone is looking at her and Annabeth, the blonde girl is the first to speak. "We didn't find Percy. He wasn't at the Grand Canyon like I thought. But we're not giving up. We've got teams everywhere. Grover, Tyson, Nico, the Hunters of Artemis—everyone's out looking. We will find him. Chiron's talking about something different. A new quest."
"It's the Great Prophecy, isn't it?"
"Drew? What do you mean?"
"Well, come on!" She rolls her eyes. "Olympus is closed. Percy's disappeared. Hera sends you a vision and you come back with three new demigods in one day. I mean, something weird is going on. The Great Prophecy has started, right?" She looks at Ara. "And it's her fault."
"Not true," Ara replies through gritted teeth.
"You walked into Olympus demanding to be crowned—You're so selfish!"
"Look who's talking!"
Drew has charmspeak, but it isn't needed, plenty of campers share the same thought and they're less than happy to have a Daughter of Olympus amongst them. "Well?" Drew glares at Rachel. "You're the oracle. Am I right or not?"
Rachel steps forward. "Yes. The Great Prophecy has begun."
Ara opens her mouth to speak, but she can't.  A new prophecy? The war ended just a few months ago! Drew's eyes lock with hers again and there is disgust in them. What if she's right? Ara asked for this, but she didn't think it would bring the next big prophecy.
Rachels raises her voice. "For those of you who have not heard it, the Great Prophecy was my first prediction. It arrived in August. It goes like this: Seven half-bloods shall answer the call. To storm or fire the world must fall—" Jason stands up abruptly. "J-Jason? "What's—"
"Ut cum spiritu postrema sacramentum dejuremus," he recites. "Et hostes ornamenta addent ad ianuam necem."
This boy needs to stop talking about things he isn't supposed to know. Ara wants to dissect him and make sure he's not an automaton.
"You just... finished the prophecy," Rachel gapes. "—An oath to keep with a final breath/And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death. How did you—"
"I know those lines," Jason holds his head and grimaces. "I don't know how, but I know that prophecy."
"In Latin, no less," Drew smiles. "Handsome and smart."
Ara's siblings laugh at Drew's remark, she remembers when she used to be just as careless. For the first time in years, she wishes she would've thought twice before stepping out of her comfort zone.
Jason sits down in embarrassment, Annabeth mumbles something to him while Rachel glances back at Chiron and Ara hoping they'll step in. The centaur doesn't move, so it's Ara's turn to speak. She's been dreaming about this... but it's not like she imagined.
People doubt her, resent her, and her friends don't think she's got what it takes. Percy tried to tell her she wasn't built for this and she did it anyway. Why?
"Well," Rachel takes the lead when Ara finds herself speechless. "So, yeah, that's the Great Prophecy. We hoped it might not happen for years, but I fear it's starting now. I can't give you proof. It's just a feeling. And like Drew said, some weird stuff is happening. The seven demigods, whoever they are, have not been gathered yet. I get the feeling some are here tonight. Some are not here."
Once again, everyone looks at Ara. It's evident that even if she isn't, she has to join the quest, she can't turn her back on it, not that she would, anyway.
"Anyway," Rachel continues, "I don't think is Ara's fault. Something wants to take advantage of our situation. We don't know what challenge the demigods will face, but since the first Great Prophecy predicted the Titan War, we can guess the second Great Prophecy will predict something at least that bad."
"Or worse..." Chiron mutters.
"What we do know," Rachel resumes, glancing at the centaur with irritation, "is that the first phase has begun. A major problem has arisen, and we need a quest to solve it. Hera, the queen of the gods, has been taken..."
As she starts to describe what's happened, Rachel mentions Hedge died, and Ara's breath hitches. The campfire flickers for a moment, turning scarlet before it goes back to normal, no one seems to notice.
"Jason—Um... do you remember your last name?" Rachels questions. He shakes his head. "We'll just call you Jason, then. It's clear Hera herself has issued you a quest."
"I agree."
"You must save Hera to prevent a great evil, some sort of king from rising. For reasons we don't yet understand, it must happen by the winter solstice, only four days from now."
"That's the council day of the gods," Annabeth adds. "If the gods don't already know Hera's gone, they will definitely notice her absence by then. They'll probably break out fighting, accusing each other of taking her. That's what they usually do."
"The winter solstice," Chiron says, "is also the time of greatest darkness. The gods gather that day, as mortals always have, because there is strength in numbers. The solstice is a day when evil magic is strong. Ancient magic, older than the gods. It is a day when things... stir."
"Okay," Annabeth scowls. "Thank you, Captain Sunshine. Whatever's going on, I agree with Rachel. Jason has been chosen to lead this quest, so—"
"Why hasn't he been claimed?" An Ares kid shouts. "If he's so important—"
"He has been claimed," Chiron finally gives an answer. "Long ago. Jason, give them a demonstration."
Jason steps forward and Ara knows something big is about to happen. He pulls out the coin from his pocket and flips it, a spear materializing in his hand. Annabeth steps back and frowns. "Wasn't that... I thought you had a sword."
"Um, it came up tails, I think," he replies awkwardly. "Same coin, long-range weapon form."
"Dude, I want one!" A kid shouts.
"Better than Clarisse's electric spear, Lamer!"
"Electric," Jason mutters. "Back away."
The people closest to him oblige at once, he raises the weapon and lightning goes through the spear, redirecting itself toward the campfire. Jason puts his arm down, completely uninjured. "Um... sorry."
Chiron brushes off a bit of cinder, and he nods. Once again, he looks in pain. "A little overkill, perhaps, but you've made your point. And I believe we know who your father is."
"Jupiter," Jason answers. "I mean Zeus. Lord of the Sky."
"Ah, fuck..." Ara complains quietly.
This is why she isn't having weird dreams, Jason must be swimming in them.

"You're a baby bird, that's all," Percy's quite proud of me, my charmspeak edged Crusty to let go of him so my friend could cut him in half. "Give it a few years, you'll be a grown dove one day—that's your mother's symbol, right?"
"It's okay if my life revolves around beauty and feelings only, I'm okay with that," I shrug.
"Then why did you join my quest?"
"I was bored," that's the answer I've been giving him since the start, but now it doesn't convince him.
"It's not safe to hang out with me," he raises a brow. "You could die, you know?"
"I'm not important enough to die," I laugh.

5 Anti LO Asks
(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. OK but no one is stopping RS from just making a pg-13 safe comic about them hooking up and thats it lmao. most of the romance genre is just that. idk why she bemoans she can't do what she wants when quite literally she can? unless she means she just wants to draw them having sex, in which case why make a comic then when she could have just kept to her NSFW patreon instead of dragging this comic on for another five years.
2. I’m sorry, I just realized bc of the time skip does that mean Dionysus was also just resolved off screen?? Like with Minthe and Daphne and Eros and Psyche?? Maybe Rachel just dropped all of them 😪😭
3. LO has the (hopefully) unintentional vibe of those terminally online cishets who think because more diverse voices also get a say online that theyre now an oppressed class. like rachel youre not the "subversive" progressive ally you think you are when your entire comic is about Manly Men™️, Feminine Women™️, and how the most oppressed people are actually the uber rich cishets in their straight romance with no actual problems and their villains are *checks notes* gays and poor people.
4. I think my fav part about Rachel is she literally does the exact opposite of everything she says. "This comic is against purity culture!" *reinforces purity culture from the very first ep* "Hera likes modest clothing!" *puts Hera in the most garish outfits* "Hades would never go after a teenage girl!" *Hades goes after a teenage girl* I could keep going but i'd be here all day.
5. I want to also add that during that one "tour of the Underworld" scene (the one where they got Pom soda) Persephone literally said (paraphrasing here) she'd kill something if she had to spend anymore time with flower nymphs, so apparently they're her "sisters" and "as close as you could be" yet she says outloud she doesn't want to be around them. Hell she was in the Underworld KNOWING THEY WERE DEAD and didn't once try to see them? Way to treat your "best friends"/"sisters".

see if Rachel wants to have some toxic, problematic™️ romance between two awful people then ok?? do that?? the issue is when she keeps insisting they're benevolent, perfect people who are always right with the perfect romance and most healthy relationship and everyone else is simply wrong for going against them and everyone wishes they had what they did. that's why people get so grossed out by this relationship because she doesn't even try to give them nuance or pretend there's a consistent morality in her universe. she can't rant about how Zeus is so awful for cheating on Hera and being a bad king when Hades is a slave-owning tyrant screwing over countless lives for a girl he's known a month and cheats with his own sister-in-law and was IN CANON CONFIRMED cheating on Minthe with Persephone. Does she think we're just that stupid we don't remember her own writing?
Like rs tries to make hades seem like a bad boy... But also like most bad boys are like just passively rude... Hades it's a gooddamn slave owner.
There treatment of cheating is inconsistent and the only really defence against hades is that he is one of the main characters.

Lore Olympus Theory 199 (SPOILERS)
I do not own any of the characters of Lore Olympus. These bullets are my opinions and based on what I think will happen. Thank you!
* We see Zeus appearing last week and saving our dear Persephone from Kronos! His lighting powers and electrics him while Persephone gives him the big slap with her vine! I love that, LOL!
* When Zeus landed, Kronos was going on about how he knew Zeus would go off and sniff around to see if something wasn’t right, which we all knew since Hera accidents from previous episodes!! Then Kronos all of a sudden leaves Hermes' body?? I’m curious why he didn’t stay and try to fight them? Yet I believe we will probably have a showdown with all gods and goddesses to fight against Kronos. I can’t wait!!
* When Kronos left Hermes's body, my first thought was whether he could do that to Hermes? Was or is he controlling the other gods like his puppets? Even the citizens? Since all of them are asleep? I say this because we knew citizens of the underworld were sleeping, and now Hermes was asleep. Now marked with white eyes from Kronos, I’m assuming?
* Later in the episode, Zeus and Persephone admitted they couldn’t defeat him even if they tried (hinting at my theory earlier). Where it’s GOING to be a showdown, and we get to see everyone in the act!! Let’s hope and pray Rachel will do a special event as she did coming back! Where she gives us four episodes 😭🥺!
* Then after Kronos left, Zeus openly asked if Persephone was okay? While I’m over here, why are you asking this now instead of like the trial or even better before that? Then we see Zeus is getting afraid and is nervous because Kronos was about to take Persephone due to the fact SHE IS a fertility goddess! (Again, she asked her mom Demeter about it, but we didn’t know WHAT was so important about being a fertility goddess)
* Then we see Persephone asking a lot of questions to Zeus. Especially why was Hermes talking to her like that? Then Zeus mentioned that it wasn’t Hermes; it was Kronos (I love how her soul left her body and then wheezed 🤣🤣! I mean, who wouldn’t?). Then Persephone asks why the hell does Kronos want with her?
* Meanwhile, Zeus and Persephone are in Hades' house to find some booze; we see Zeus talking about his childhood. I love the interaction between them! Persephone is treating Zeus like finally! You have a brain!
* Zeus goes on about his childhood. Three nymphs raise him, and then he starts manifesting his powers. Each year his muscles grow, and he becomes stronger each time. Then one day, Rhea comes and calls out to Zeus and says he is the only one who can defeat Kronos by using a fertility goddess for upgraded power! Then he goes on about what is a fertility goddess back then. Once he found out that Persephone was born and her muscles were manifesting, Zeus had to keep her away from the others. I love how he kept all of this information to himself and finally used a brain!!
* Then he mentions his conversation with Athena. From my last post, everything they said and what I said in my theories is coming true, which means they need to figure out how to wake the others up and defeat Kronos once and for all!
* Lastly, at the end of the episode, I love how Persephone was like So what? I need to find Hades. I can’t wait until she finds him! It’s going to be a love story we can’t forget! Is my theory that hades body might be in a container? Or maybe Kronos has been controlling hades for a while now, and that’s how all citizens are asleep? I'm curious about what Kronos is doing with Hecate? Or Hecate might be hiding out or might be the one protecting hades by a container spell of some sort!
* On another note, at the end of the panel, we see baby Hades rested or hyper nation. Is this foreshadowing that Kronos has eaten hades once again, or maybe his childhood trauma is returning due to Kronos returning?

Part 4! Of rereading Lore Olympus. Ep 31-40
Gotta be real I keep forgetting to post these even tho I'm reading them but it's fine. Obviously I won't finish before the end of the 2 week break (this Saturday) but after this I may start reviewing episodes as they come out, who knows. Last part:
Ep 31
Theres so many other reasons you shouldnt work together but ok
Also shes literally so smart right like thats canon
Artemis is cool hera,,,sometimes
Which two sons i wish i knew the lo family tree as opposed to the real one yknow
How do heras powers work she felt her pain but doesnt know who??
I would kill for a comprehensive list of family tree and powers, dont even have to spoil powers just please i get so confused
Ep 32
Train ur fuckin dogs hades i think ive said that before
He changed skin color again but like not just light vs dark thats a whole diff shade of blue
Hehe threaten low class workers so cute and quirky hades
Why is uh psyche/whatever her nymph name is wearing more traditional clothes while not in the mortal realm
Love the dog
Hades has a point, even tho it makes no sense for him to have said that
Ok also point out in the like future episode he wants persephone to call him Aidoneus but doesnt like when others do it why
Thats my same thing with him calling her Kore like i know in the future its like explained or whatever but idk
Aphrodite has a point it was a favor in a way
A dumb way but yknow
I remember everyone losing it over the “im only interested in the dead ones” panel but looking at it its so lame LMAO changed his entire face shape for a panel
Ep 33
HECATE HECATE WOOOO
Im but a simple man
Hades texts like an old man i know he is one but
Also i am dying to know how his business works including as the god of the underworld like. Give me something
Then again, maybe i am a lil dumb when it comes to this
I always thought he was giving the little elevator friend a sugarcube lmao
I like how minthes ears react to her emotions
Stop fighting at work omg this would be the worst place to work at
“Hey can u do ur job”
Ep 34
Why this subplot ugh
The crown floats yet is sideways after she hits him
Also haha hitting
Also their relationship does confuse me just a tad bit yknow
All the clues were there hades you dumbass
“Cancel all my meetings” DO YOUR JOB
“This doesnt affect you in the same way” cause hes a man or a king or both but also kings seemed to get treated the same by their subjects until they are dicks and excute their power
From what ive seen
Then again we havent seen poseidon do that but that brings me to the point of I wanna see poseidon realm
thats . so creepy hades ew
“Smth must be done about this” like fair legal action right?....right?
Who reads newspapers these days anyways wait a second
Ep 35
See the laptop having news makes more sense like sure we make newspapers but ppl dont use em as often
“Biochemistry Theory” fun fact I switched majors to specifically avoid taking chemistry
What are they typing he just started speaking
What type of nymph is thetis bc i know minthe is a river nymph but thetis has fancy ears
They are so mean to each other lmao
The financial situation and the fact that they both are like sleeping with the kings confuse me why do both of them do it.
Like retrospectively i understand it but when i first read it i was like “are nymphs supposed to be like hookers??” so i was lost for a bit
“Hades micromanages computer usage” oh what a shit boss
Also the meal ticket she has a job sure hades gave it to her but
Idk maybe im slow
What an awful way to do a heart shape i just tried it wtf
“Crying is for wives” damn
Yes body issues that dont get brought up again right? Like she all of a sudden gets bigger boobs and i dont think hades pays ppl enough for cosmetic surgery
You guys know this is a work setting
Has rachel ever had a job bc this feels like a comical trope seen on tv the workplace drama yknow
LMAO IN THE LAST PANEL RACHEL FORGOT TO GIVE HER NYMPH EARS
Like fully normal ears i know its a mistake but its funny
Ep 36
“Not my circus not my monkeys” queen
Hades is it not your circus how dont involve hecate in this
“Stop starin at me with them big ol eyes”
Oof that does not look good on you, i mean why didnt you give her the coat
“I thought you didnt get jealous” ok she may have said that but literally everything about her contradicts that
And i love this part bc he doesnt call her crazy and they talk, i mean he hides some of the truth which like fuck him, and then they try to talk about the party and
Ugh i know minthe is supposed to be an antagonist but rachel does this weird thing where she tries to flesh her out, then realizes it would be an easy set up for a redemption arc and screws her over again
I know the ppl in the mortal realm are generally frightened of hades but why are ppl in olympus
“I wouldnt expect anything less from a goddess” so we are going to bring in the racism/speciesism that occurs in this story right
Its the middle of the day isnt he supposed to be in the mortal realm moving the sun or some shit
Ep 37
“Last night” Rachel its ok to space things out sweetie
Ok ok so one thing i hate about her characterization of apollo is he goes from being delusional to knowing what he did was at least slightly wrong and i hate both are fine stories but pick one he either is so infatuated with persephone that he thinks that they had a great time or he wants her for her power
And! A transition from one to the other would be fine, but she goes back in forth in his characterization
Little red vines look cool
Hehe cerberus
How did he escape tho
I love that dog
Ep 38
Oh its the greenhouse again
But this time it represents the evil feeling?
Idk but i like eye symbolism im lame lol
Why was she sleeping in the chair
When did she get those clothes i dunno if eros would buy her business casual
Artemis really sees all the signs and then goes “meh”
Like points out the possible crush on persephone just connect the dots they are so close
Why is there not more than one door
Why is no one getting off
How does rachel think train stops work
Ep 39
Also not thatanos with an undercut lmao
Ope its thanatos i mixed it up
Also minthe you just actively arent doing a good job like lmao how are you not getting fired
Hades smoking a cigar is so old and gross tbh
What an awful boss
That man has a point dont stand infront of the door
She gave her a little flower nice
Minthe i know ur being spiteful, weird bc hades explained shes just the daughter of a friend( i know its a lie but still) but just do your job
“It says restricted access but that lady says it was fine” i would just wait until someone came out theres no reason to go inside
Ep 40
Why would they not have a lock on this place actually
Why wouldnt she just leave the way she came
When did hades put on his glasses
How is it hades fault what
So many questions yknow for such a short episode
Also does this place not have security cameras in places that are tartarus

oh don’t worry i’m definitely sticking to this until we run out of ideas at some point ,,, the way we’ve rambled so much it requires a tag now
GODDDD leah gives fatin the opportunity to escape and fatin spends the whole time wondering if she made it too, if she sacrificed herself for her sake, and it Kills her a little (a lot) inside. so we either get: fatin running back and saving LEAH’S ass when she’s running off fumes, or leah stumbling back to the rebellion, beat up but alive, and a bunker-esque reunion hug (or first kiss who knows !)
also when they get the time fatin 100% watches leah train with her lightsaber because 🥵
(when you do have the time i definitely highly recommend finishing rebels. tbh i can picture an older!rebellion leatin, considering if when they join is a few years before the death star and everything, giving me very much kanan/hera vibes. but maybe a little more chaotic. and might i add in rebel officer rachel, shelby who’s probably a princess or political figure in some way who secretly helps the rebellion along, rebel fighter toni, all around sweetheart martha who you wouldn’t expect could pack such a punch against the empire, spy nora?? mechanic dot OHHH THE POSSIBILITIES)
Will we run out of ideas? Is that possible within Star Wars? We could just keep reinventing. Our ramblings deserve a tag. We're creating something beautiful here, and I'm about to tell you I love you.
Leah forcing Fatin to flee because obviously the Empire captures known rebels to torture for information, so Fatin runs while Leah's fighting an Inquisitor but Leah's like just barely standing her ground because when's the last time she fought with her lightsaber for real?? So Fatin runs but she can't go through with actually leaving and goes back to find a way to save Leah's ass, and they escape together and then there's the obligatory awkward silence they experience while alone in hyperspace, and Fatin has to patch up the injuries Leah sustained while an Inquisitor was kicking the shit out of her. Obviously there's tension between them but they won't talk about it, but Leah does eventually find a way to thank Fatin for not abandoning her, and Fatin's like yeah it's a good thing I came back because that Inquisitor was kicking your ass.
Fatin getting caught watching Leah train!! And Fatin then has to try to explain why she's staring so much, probably says something about how not everyone gets to see a Jedi train even though she was 100% checking Leah out. Leah blushes anyway (and tells Fatin she's not technically a Jedi anymore but Fatin's like close enough).
I'm on the verge of being flung straight back into a Star Wars era, so I may end up finishing Rebels at some point. And YES to all the other girls. We're still getting our Leachel and Dotin BFFs

Alrighty read the fast pass cuz. Ya know and.
Spoiler under the cut
Tumblr media
Why does Persephone look..so mildly inconvenienced?? Your husband is possessed by his evil dad and threatening you?? The least you could do is grow some red flowers, grit your teeth ?? OR FUCKING SOMETHING TO SHOW THIS IS AN ACTUAL ISSUE??
She looks like this is fucking normal and they'll be done with this in a second (which all things considering for this comic wouldn't be too surprising but still!! Holy shit.)
There was no build up, there was just. BOOM possession.
Which leads me to another point. How fucking WEAK is Hades?? This motherfucker wasn't in his head all but a fucking minute and Kronos immediately got him?? He didn't even put up a smidgen of a fight?? Come on!! Also Hecate and Morpheus couldn't do shit?? Nothing??
Also..Isn't Kronos already fucking harassing Hera, why does he still need her?? And why the FUCK does he want her?? This plot point makes no fucking sense!!! KRONOS LOVED RHEA IN HIS SICK TWISTED WAY. it would've made more sense for him to thirst after PERSEPHONE cuz she looks like Rhea if Rachel NEEDED to include this creepy pervy version of Kronos so damn bad.
It was absolutely un fucking necessary to include this Hera and Kronos plot. It's fucking appalling and disgusting, it adds nothing to the plot, nothing to Heras character but makes her a damsel in distress and a sexual object all the fucking time. There was no reason to include this at fucking ALL.
This chapter and the last one where absolutely useless..also..Persephone stole Dionoysus only to keep handing him off somewhere else, she nor Hades have spoken to or even spent time with the child which SHOWS THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD A FUCKING CHILD IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY DIDNT HAVE THE DAMN TIME.
I keep jumping from point to point but only shit. I can't believe I used to care and root for this comic so fucking much all for it to shit on all the characters and make Hades and Persephone the most annoying versions of themselves I've ever seen

Hey there!
Saw ur post bout wanting requests and I'm happy to oblige. Percabeth is my absolute OTP and so I would love to read some fics based on them, esp when you write them soo well🥺
1.I've always wanted to read a fic where Annabeth spoons Percy! I think that wud be so cute.
2.Or would love to see a fic where one of them cant sleep at night so they go do smtg spontaneous, like stargazing or roadtrip or trip to McDonald's hehe.
3.A prompt (if that's how you take requests): "Did you just kiss my Achilles Spot?"
omfgggggg the amount of fluff i shoved into this is almost puke level. but percabeth will never get to that level. anyways i decided to do all three prompts because i couldn't pick one. enjoy!
Stargazing in Grey
Warnings: Rachel Elizabeth Dare being a little shit, but we love her anyways (so in other words, none)
Characters: Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Rachel Elizabeth Dare (but only for like two lines at the very end)
Ships: Percabeth
Word Count: 1,405
Summary: Percabeth sneaks out of their cabins to go stargazing and realize (again) how much they love each other. Takes place between the end of HOO and the beginning of TOA
“You know… we could have just taken some Melatonin or something.” Percy made a confused face.
Annabeth rolled her eyes despite knowing that he probably couldn’t see her do that in the dark. “And where’s the fun in that?”
“Who are you and what have you done to my rule-following Wise Girl?” His smile was audible in his voice.
She elbowed him in the stomach and fell back onto the grass of Camp Half-Blood hill, her grey eyes searching the night sky. Constellations danced across her gaze and a smile curled over her lips. Percy’s eyes adjusted to the night enough for him to be able to see her features illuminated by the moonlight.
Gods, she’s the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.
“What was that?” Annabeth sat up.
Percy realized he had whispered his thoughts out loud and plopped himself down in the grass next to her. “Nothing! So tell me, Wise Girl,” he pointed up at the stars. “Which one is that constellation?”
She laid back down and followed his finger to where he was pointing. “Oh, that’s just Heracles.”
Percy made a gagging sound. “Oh gods not that guy!”
That was the game they played: Percy pointed out a constellation, Annabeth identified it and they repeated. Percy told stupid jokes just to hear Annabeth’s laughter and he felt like he was walking on air everytime he heard it.
This was his Wise Girl, he realized. Starting from “you drool when you sleep” all those years ago and now sneaking out of their cabins at night to watch the stars when the nightmares became too much. Everything else in his life was fleeting and frankly at the mercy of ungrateful gods, but Annabeth was his constant. She was his tie to mortality when he dipped in the River Styx, she was the one thing he remembered when Hera stole his memories and sent him west and she was the one who held his hand in Tartarus when the world quite literally swallowed him up. And now that they had survived two Great Prophecies and were finishing up the summer in Long Island before heading to New Rome, the realization of how much Annabeth completed him struck Percy in the heart. She was the one who kept him humane when he wanted to unleash his destructive powers, she was the one who treated his wounds when he hurt himself against monsters and she was the one who curled up and cuddled him when the whole world was against them.
How in Hades was he so lucky to have fallen for her and for her to have fallen right back - quite literally in their case.
When they had finished their game, Percy found himself staring at her once more. He could examine her face for years and still find new things to fascinate himself with. If he was given Pandora’s box and told that the Hope at the bottom was Annabeth, he’d rip the lid off in a heartbeat and slay all of the monsters that jumped out with her.
She yawned, pulling Percy back into reality, and stretched her arms. “We should probably head back before Malcolm wakes up and flips on us.”
Percy pouted like a child and turned over in the grass to face away from her. “No! This was your idea and I wanna stay!”
Annabeth sighed and scooted closer to him, wrapping her arms around his waist and pressing her face into his back. “You’re such a child, no wonder you live with your mother at eighteen.”
He wiggled a bit so that he could turn his head to glare at her. “I’ll have you know that I missed half of being sixteen and half of being seventeen!”
She squeezed the skin of his stomach to shut him up and the two laid there spooning in the grass for a bit. Annabeth could feel his heartbeat and the way his lungs expanded when he breathed and sighed at the realness of it all. For six months, she was without him. After years of fighting by his side, he had just vanished and both of them were pulled into another Olympus-Destroying calamity that they had to fix. She had found herself cursing out the gods during that time, begging to know why did it always have to be her family that got messed over by the gods? For once, couldn’t someone else take up the mantle? Thalia had died then joined the Hunt, Luke was… well, Luke and all of the other campers moved on and away as time passed if they weren’t killed by monsters. Percy was the only constant she had and Hera had taken him away. Her Percy, the one who held up the sky for her. Her Percy, the one who fell into Tartarus for her. Her Percy, the one who held her tight when a curse had taken her vision and promised to never leave her. Her Percy, the one who turned down immortality for her. Annabeth hugged him tighter and pressed a kiss to his back. She was never letting go of him again.
"Did you just kiss my Achilles Spot?" He turned his head to look at her again.
She pulled her head back and blinked. It must have happened subconsciously while she was reminiscing about the past. “I guess I did, sorry.”
He rested his head on the ground again. “No no it’s fine, I just haven’t had anyone touch there in a while. I guess I’ve always protected it from people, even after the curse is gone.”
And that was another thing. His only weakness, the small of his back, he exposed it joyfully to her. He took his life and placed it into her hands because there was no one else in the entire world who Percy Jackson trusted more than Annabeth Chase.
She untangled herself and sat up. “But seriously, we should get back before the harpies start their pre-dawn rounds. Washing dishes in lava again does not sound like fun.”
He sat up with her and brushed a stray piece of grass off of her cheek with a wide smile. There was still a tiny sliver of grey hair from when they were younger and took turns holding up the sky. “Yeah… you’re right.”
“When am I not?” She leaned into his touch.
Inches, centimeters, touching. The only thought in Percy’s mind was how soft Annabeth’s lips felt against his own and how much she smelled like fresh ink on sunwarmed paper. Was that a scent? It was now. His calloused hands caressed her face like if he let go, she would crumble into sand between his fingertips and she eagerly gripped his shirt right back. For either the third or fourth time that evening, the whole world seemed to melt away. Two heartbeats became one, two souls linked together and two bodies pressed together in such a loving embrace that even Aphrodite herself would have turned away with a blush.
They came crashing back to the real world when the sound of a camera clicked behind them. The two jerked their heads to the sound to see a familiar redhead holding up a camera.
“Rachel Elizabeth Dare!” Annabeth's voice came out as a harsh whisper.
The Oracle of Delphi cackled as she turned heel and ran down the hill towards her cave. Annabeth moved to chase after her, but Percy grabbed her wrist, covering his mouth with his free hand to keep from laughing. “Let’s just get back to our cabins before she goes leaking that to Lou Ellen and Piper.”
The daughter of Athena couldn’t argue with that. They gathered themselves and made the trek back to the Athena cabin. They stood outside the door, not wanting the moment to end, but also understanding that they both needed sleep. Annabeth moved closer and pecked Percy one last time on the lips before heading inside.
Percy made the walk back to the Poseidon cabin with a goofy smile on his face and was humming a tune who’s name he couldn’t remember. His Wise Girl had broken the rules and was ready to fistfight the Oracle of Delphi to keep it a secret. He was so proud of his negative influence on her. He silently made a vow to get that picture from Rachel to hang up in his room in New Rome. It would brighten up his dorm tremendously.

anti LO anon opinions
(1) why does Rachel even HAVE an LO website lol. just delete it over going back and hastily changing the answers?? that's really stupid.
(2) You could argue the anti-mother sentiment extends to even LO Persephone too. She seems terrified of the idea of pregnancy and motherhood, and has an extremely bad relationship with her mother to add to it, but it's deemed of utmost importance in LO Hades to have his own children. It seems like motherhood and mothers are general are demonized, but loving fathers and fatherhood are idolized. It's very strange.
(3) Why is every major mother character in LO terrible except for (ofc) Hades'?Hera has her child not only witness a lot of arguments between her and Zeus but also makes her child a batista.Aphrodite has her child do her bidding and is keeping Psyche over his head.Demeter is basically an abuser. We haven't witnessed enough of Metis, Nyx, and Amphithrite to have a solid conclusion on them. It's so weird how the females are less sympathetic than the males (except Apollo).
(4) tbh something like LO doesnt need a villain? much less several? episode 1 established minthe as the antagonist and it made sense! she was persephone's romantic rival in mythology! it's a romance comic so it all fit! It's cliche but it seemed what RS was most comfortable writing, so i dont get why RS is adding more villains/plot threads when the main couple is still so underdeveloped. People just wanted to read about HxP, but even then when RS focuses on them its all aesthetics over substance.
(5) You know self awareness is dead when you see how many LO fans are/claim to be super left-wing, anti-capitalist and anti - corruption yet absolutely fawn over Hades wasting money and abusing his power to those below him so he can spoil his intern with heaps of material items she doesn’t need. Do they know he’s basically Jeff Bezos but if he also an absolute monarch? Like cmon.
(6) I love myth Hera and is as complex as everyone else, but LO has everyone in black and white binaries of "good" and "bad" so it's really bad to me if it ends with Hera, who in myth canon tried to kill her disabled child and laughed and smiled at Ares being hurt in war, is deemed the best mother while it rewrote two loving mothers (Demeter and Leto) into abusive, evil mothers.
(7) Anericans: *see Thetis and Demeter be protective of their kids* hmmm I think I'm gonna turn them into control freaks and homophobic

Fertility Goddesses
So in the most recent chapter, we got a few new insights as to what it means to be a fertility goddess - or, more accurately, the supposed influence and power one might have.
Obviously, Zeus was pretty freaked out by this, and it seemed as though he would prefer to be in denial. Beyond that, he was just grateful no new bloods really seemed to know what it meant (I’m assuming anyone beyond the 6 Traitors, honestly).
Tumblr media
There have been quite a few theories tossed around about the fertility goddess issue, so I’m just going to try to put in something a bit newer here. I want to figure out societal implications and where Hera’s backstory comes into play.
For this theory to work, I am running under the assumption that fertility gods and goddesses are much rarer than in actual Greek mythology. This seemed to be backed up by how “valuable” being a fertility goddess is (f*ck you, Apollo) and how infrequently they are born (Ares mentioning one hadn’t been born for centuries). Now, if you happen to know your Greek lore, you know that there are tons of fertility deities, but it seems as though in Rachel’s canon, she is ignoring that (totally her choice, and I’m not dissing it).
Fertility goddess have been born before, but Zeus doesn’t show panic over them. I think this goes primarily along with how much control Zeus has over the goddesses in question.
Regarding Hera, I believe she is one of those fertility goddesses. Beyond actual mythology supporting that, I would look to her monologue going on about how, prior to her marriage, she was limitless. I think part of that had to do with her being young and her powers still developing and being untethered to another person, but also that her powers were much greater than we see them now (though I would argue she is actually much more powerful than most of the pantheon). Then Zeus, greedy and ambitious, had her marry him (whether it was by choice or not has yet to be addressed, but I sense there was some reluctance on her part). So, Hera’s power would be more constrained, Zeus would have control over her, and she’s queen of the gods - problem solved.
As for the other fertility goddesses (I’m thinking probably Demeter and Aphrodite, but I’m not sure of anyone else), I have vague ideas, but my thought would be that they weren’t powerful enough or ambitious enough to be a real threat. For lack of a better phrase, they were about as old as Zeus and stayed in their lanes, so he didn’t worry.
Then along comes Persephone. She’s very young, her powers are still developing, but she’s just a pretty village girl for his brother to show interest in, right? lol nah. Girl has several gods and goddesses backing her up very quickly just due to her sweet personality and natural charisma. So, she has influence. Not too bad still - Zeus isn’t aware of that yet, and he still thinks she’s going to be a nice little toy for his brother to enjoy.
But, then he gets the story from the three troublemakers. Persephone is now a threat. She has Olympian friends, Hades backing her, and apparently a significant amount of power, more than the average god or goddess.
With all this, Zeus is threatened most of all because he can’t control her right now. The other fertility goddesses, he could either control through marriage or might. As of right now, he has lost a great amount of respect from the other gods, he can’t try to force her to do what he says without potentially bringing war between Olympus and the Underworld, and it seems as though her power would be frightening for him to face anyway.
Why does this matter?
I think that is why being a fertility goddess matters, why Demeter tried to hide her daughter and protect her through TGOEM, and why Hades (knowing about fertility goddesses already) wasn’t shocked by the events that took place before she went to Olympus.
We know Zeus is one of the most arrogant, controlling deities. He doesn’t accept challenges to his authority without severe punishment for the offending party. He is all about maintaining the status quo which keeps him on top. If he is saying he needs to punish Persephone to maintain the status quo, I believe that means that her power could challenge his reign, or at least the social structure of the gods as a whole.

10 Anti LO Asks
(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. lmao the episodes right before the mid season finale look way better than the current ones despite time off. how is that even possible.
2. nah but its funny rachel was like wait i cant have him send demeter's a baby shower gift and cut minthe off financially thatll make him look bad! but instead adding him being AWARE shes 19 and still chasing after her "tiny pink body" and "ass shaped like an upside down heart" and having him brag about owning countless slaves makes him look better? the logic is flawless here /sarcasm
3. I mean even beyond the fact the citizens dont like him nor do the old underworld gods, how does rachel expect us to buy hades causing economical collapse in ALL the realms and causing shit with the other kings over ONE PERSON HE KNEW A MONTH doesn't make him look like an thin-skinned, oppressive dictator? why should anyone support this? he's raging out like trump when he lost the 2020 election. just because rachel keeps insisting hes in the right doesnt actually mean he is.
4. Fp- is the joke with the fur supposed to be funny? Cause it wasn't. It just shows 1 AGAIN(after buying stuff while complaining about capitalism) that Perse is a hypocrite, she knows it & doesn't care 2 Hades doesn't really care about animals beside his dogs, it's just adding to him being horrible person. If the fur was artificial she wouldn't feel bad about wearing it & it would be mentioned. Also feelings since 4th day? Creepy. Definitely that girl understands you the most after 4 days...
5. how could olympus and the underworld turn into a shitshow after persephone left? literally tho, she should have been a nobody. all the citizens should only know is that 1) hades ripped a guys eye out for her and 2) she killed humans and didn't report it to zeus. if anything, the citizens should've believed persephone deserved to be punished, and that hades is an immature manchild for what he pulled in the court,,,
6. Why doesn’t Cerberus have three heads. I’m sure this has been asked before but how you gonna write Cerberus without three heads—the one defining trait this dog has. Where are the other heads. Where are they
7. this is such a minor thing but WHY ARE NONE OF THE EYES IN LO LINED UP PROPERLY. I have a lazy eye and if I don't focus on it long enough it can go out of focus/look elsewhere, but I don't think that's what happening?? Why are their eyes always looking in different directions 😭
8. what I don't think Rachel gets this, but having Persephone and Hades cling to someone they barely know from a decade+ ago shows a huge lack of mental and emotional maturity on their ends. I realize it's a bit more complicated because we do know they end up together, but that's why placing it before they even start dating is just a bad idea. This isnt a case of lovers/spouses longing to see each other again, it's two grown adults with the emotional maturity of 15 year olds.
9. Rachel don't draw women with heart shaped faces, hourglass bodies, and huge eyes challenge (impossible for her specifically difficulty)
10. why would hebe even want to be like her mom anyway? hera was emotionally and mentally neglectful of her, abandoned her so zeus presumably raised her himself, and hera is a hypocritical, racist jerk who cheats on her husband, is misogynistic to other women, openly married zeus for power, told others about persephone's assault without her consent, mistreats her own "friend", and abuses her power of everyone else. rachel really wants us to buy she's a ~complicated woman~ over just being an asshole.

The Last Olympian Thoughts
So because I have absolutely 0 self-control or restraint when it comes to this series and its characters, and for The Last Olympian in particular, I could not put TLO down. Because of this I figured I couldn’t do the usual photo reaction posts I have been so far, because the spam would just be ridiculous, so I am stealing the idea from @yourstrulytaaay to do a masterpost instead. (Adding a Read More cause this got ridiculously long)
Fun fact, TLO came out right after i finished reading the series for the first time so it's the first PJO book i bought  and my only hard cover one for the og series. I checked the year and turns out it was published 2009, which means i was actually 9 when i read the series for the first time. I realize this is not really a fun fact but i thought i was older when I first read the series so it's blowing my mind a little ‘cause now I’m 21 and everything hits different and i still have so much love for this series and the characters Okay onto book thoughts: - i was right that this book is gonna destroy me, the first line alone made me so excited and nostalgic it's ridiculous - I love Rachel and Percy sm tbh. Her being a bit of peace and normalcy in his life without always reminding Percy of who and what he is is so good for him. Just a little escape
- of course by the end of the book that's not the case any more but by the end he's lived his prophecy so he doesn't need it as badly, plus he and Annabeth are solid again - Percy saying Annabeth has been hard to be around lately... Ouch my heart. Luke really is the last thing that keeps them from being together and Percy is so jealous and Annabeth so torn and in pain, i feel so bad for them both
Tumblr media
- Beckendorf 🥺🥺 - the telkhine with the Lil Demon lunchbox!! I forgot about him. Percy: 'i left him alive, partly because his lunchbox was cool' is one of my absolute favourite lines tbh - Paul taking Percy crabbing and being imperative in helping Percy kill the giant crab 💖 Paul Blofis is important and deserves the world, okay? - aw Percy, you can't save every demigod bb
Tumblr media
- 'i had to fight him eventually. Why not now?... What difference would a week make?' Oh Percy you have no idea - real talk tho, the fact Kronos possessed Luke's body would also mess me tf up. Percy keeps forgetting it's not Luke anymore and yeah, that would be so so hard and confusing af, like what another smart little mind game for Kronos to pull on top of everything else - the fact Percy fights Kronos before getting the Achilles Curse and actually doesn't die within seconds is... Astounding. He kicks him in the chest! And yeah Kronos is weaker and still adjusting to Luke's body, but Percy is having trouble fighting Luke cause they used to be friends - Percy breaks Kronos' time magic!! Like?! Boy is POWERFUL.
Tumblr media
- OUCH - honestly Luke, Thalia and Annabeth's family breaking the way it did... Don't talk to me. Poor Annabeth, Luke betrayed them, Thalia joined the Hunters because of Luke's betrayal so she's pretty much AWOL all the time and then Luke dies. Like Rick wtf, my heart can't take it? -Percy and Tyson having each others backs when talking to Poseidon in the underwater palace is the brother-brother relationship we love to see - Percy trying to stick a sand dollar in the vending machines at school 🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ - the whole underwater interaction at Poseidon's palace? Perfection. Awkward family drama and all - Connor falling out of the tree when he sees Percy because he's so excited 😂😂
Tumblr media
- 😭💖
Tumblr media
- k, ik Clarisse isn't perfect but tbh if i was a child of Ares whose father was disrespected and hated by my fellow campers (ares deserves it but still) and that disrespect trickled down to how the other campers treated ME (which if Percy is reliable here, it obviously does) then i would also be irritated at being used for muscle and nothing else? And just expected to fight with the people who act as if they'd rather not have Ares kids around the rest of the time. Like Clarisse isn't totally wrong - Percy reading the prophecy, seeing he's meant to die and just being like 'i do not see it' and refusing to outright think about it makes me so sad for him - (but it taints every action after and he's super reckless afterwards bc of it- including finally breaking and accepting the Achilles Curse) - (also him taking this as the last straw and finally beginning to show Annabeth how he really feels, cause fuck it, he's dying anyway) - Give me more info about Rachel's backstory and family Rick!! -  how did i forget Percy willingly eats chocolates that taste like cardboard because 'i didnt have anything against cardboard' like sir? Ik Silena didn't want them but still? - 'she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful' STOP, MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT - Percy staring at Annabeth and forgetting what they're talking about cause hes so distracted 👌🏻
Tumblr media
- hmm yeah... For some strange reason.... - i forgot how Percy totally bombs this convo bw them and now want to cry 😭 Annabeth is trying to talk about what's important and Percy, you sweet oblivious man, you're shooting her down without even realizing - love that they're both on the same wavelength tho. Percy two lines before, hmm it's cool to date ppl from other cabins, wonder why im thinking that around Annabeth, my best friend in the world, and then Annabeth a beat later, hmm, let me bring up Silena and Beckendorf and how it's important to be with the people you love when you have the chance, no way Percy will miss this huge hint right? - they're the best - k i honestly forgot Percy full on physically intimidates Leneus like that - luke telling his mom if he ran away the monsters wouldnt get her..i can just imagine luke crying when he says good bye before running away because he thinks it's his fault his mom is like that and he cant take care of and protect her anymore because it's too hard - uh oh now i have angsty pre-lightning thief luke fic inspo... Him, Thalia and Annabeth on the run... The ANGST -  Rick holds absolutely nothing back in this book and i am in pain - HESTIA!! 💖💖🥰 - actual loml - i love that Rick titled this book after her and that he wrote such a great series about the importance of family (biological, found or otherwise) and home, and that he said actually Hestia is the most important bc shes the most humble and keeps the peace and knows when to fight and when to yield and you protect what you love, which is your home - i just... Adore Hestia - Grover! Missed you babes - Hades is so so horrible to Nico, always comparing him to Bianca :/ - but i do love Hades, Persephone and Demeter together they make me laugh - oh god the River Styx - Achilles 🥺 - Annabeth being Percy's lifeline is, and continues to be, A Lot™ - 'my name was Percy Jackson. I reached up and took Annabeth's hand.' LOL Why am i crying? - Like the fact there is no Percy without Annabeth, and that remembering her literally reminded him of who he is in his very soul... It's fine im fine - i won't even get into the parallels of her being his lifeline now and then later when Hera takes his memories but leaves the memory of Annabeth for Percy to fight to get back to (anyone who wants to yell about it with me... Feel free to message) - badass Percy is my fav Percy tbh - him defeating Hades?? Like? Hades is arguably the most powerful god, okay - i feel bad for Nico but if i was Percy I'd do the exact same, Nico, sorry man but this is a high stakes time crunch deal and Nico is literally the only hope of persuading Hades and distracted by his own internal stuff - flashbacks to Luke, Thalia and Annabeth hurt, ow - George and Martha are the best - damn i forgot Hermes full on nearly kills Percy here, yikes - Luke stop cockblocking Percabeth challenge
Tumblr media
- i love!! Percy's love for New York!! So much!! - Percy leaving to live in New Rome in HoO is a lie and this is all the proof i need for why - the fact the entire last half of the book is the battle and aftermath... Such great buildup and pacing. All the tricks and twists and battles in this War of Manhattan? I would not take out a thing, Rick, you legend - of course then the final battle in hoo with the gods is what? Two pages? Ugh, don’t talk to me about my hatred for BoO and HoO - 'no detours you two' is still the cutest thing!!! - THE HUNTERS!! Thalia i missed you - good job Percy, you finally spent your sand dollar - Minotaur!! - 'dont i get a kiss for luck? Its kind of a tradition right?' Percy finds out he's gonna die and is out of fucks to give and honestly I support him - also Michael just standing beside these two while they're flirting like umm 👀 👀 while a monster army marches towards them, nbd - Annabeth taking Ethan's knife meant for Percy!!! Cause she just knows his weak spot without him even telling her! They literally invented love - Feral Percy is so scary omg, i love how well Rick incorporates the Achilles Curse in this novel, with the whole heightened weaknesses and stuff ans the parallels to Achilles arrogance being what killed him and Percy's loyalty, fierceness and protective instinct being his own heightened weakness - the fact that Percy is the one who inadvertantly kills Michael Yew tho, I'll never recover from that - the fact Hades offers Maria di Angelo a golden palace by the Styx like how Poseidon offers Sally a palace under the sea tho. Let's talk about that parallel - the entire talk with Prometheus is so so good - not me picturing young Luke hiding in the closet to get away from his mom when she has an 'episode' -i love callbacks in stories and all of the callbacks to the rest of the series in this book make me very happy (medusa, minotaur, the underworld, Rainbow!! My baby!!, Daedalus and more) - Percy summoning a wholeass hurricane against Hyperion - the Party Ponies! They're so chaotic, i love it - Dionysus! 😁 I can't help it, i love him - Percy absolutely losing it when he sees Sally and Paul asleep in the car 🥺 - Rachel telling Percy he's not the hero screws with him so much :( poor bb - although i really really love how Rick wrote this, it's so refreshing to not have one chosen one save the world, but a combination of people - the drakon, Silena and Clarisse make me cry - the Patrochilles references, im not okay - Annabeth giving up on Luke after hearing what he did to Silena and Percy telling her that doesn't make him happy 😭 that whole interaction makes my heart ache - Percy giving Hestia Pandora's pithos 🥺 - and Hades, Nico and the others coming for a final attack is so badass, i love it - listen im glad the og trio were the ones to confront Luke on Olympus but the fact Thalia got so close and then pinned by a statue of HERA makes me so sad. Ik her and Luke were finished and she coped by cutting him off completely and giving up all hope but i would pay money to know what they would have said to each other to say goodbye - Ethan 🥺 - Poseidon joining the fight against Typhon is so cool, such a great scene - 'PEANUT BUTTER!' - Annabeth you brilliant badass you - RIP Luke, you werent great but you werent the worst either - the gods just rolling up seconds too late, wondering wtf happened in Olympus and who the dead body is - the chapter where the Olympians meet and give out rewards is one of my absolute favourites (again i am incensed we didn't get anything like this in HoO) - will Percy turning down immortality ever not make me scream in glee? No? Alright then - Annabeth being relieved like Percy was relieved at the end of Titan's Curse tho - oh Hermes :/ - its so hard reading all this and knowing what comes in HoO... Like it's such a cathartic, earned and mostly happy and peaceful ending and then HoO comes along and undermines it all - aww Rick let Paul see Olympus somehow pls, he deserves it, he killed a dracanae - (i would also love to see it) - Percy being more upset Rachel took his pegasus than her going to Camp and possibly dying, lol, priorities dude - i honestly think that Rick had other ideas for the second Great Prophecy and how things would go down in BoO, cause the prophecy like... Barely applies to BoO, Doors of Death are in book four, and explabations of it is all so unclear when Rick is usually pretty good with that stuff - PERCABETH - lol Percy complaining about privacy when he and Annabeth are caught kissing literally in the middle of the very open and public dining pavilion, okay - BEST UNDERWATER KISS OF ALL TIME - that's it and im a glass case of emotion - very happy to say that this series remains my favourite of all time 💖
If anyone ever wants to come gush about anything Riordanverse related feel free, because as you can see I have a lot of thoughts about it all
