!PJO SHOW SPOILERS!
Quick little nod to the watch parter Walker, Leah and Aryan had for the Premier! It's so adorable and so funny, their friendship is amazing.
But my favourite part was Leah's "there's always a duo in a trio." Like yes, yes, there is, but the potential that has for edits??? Like right now, it's percy and Grover, but in season 5, that's going to switch, and I can already see Aryan bringing it up when the last olympian is released.
Episode 3 Highlights:
- THE CHOOSING CEREMONY! Oh my god, I was screaming! The way Annabeth's face lit up temporarily, then she returned to her cool, calm collectedness. You can celebrate Annabeth, you've been waiting forever for this! Personal headcanon that Malcolm was bombarded with her rambling excessively as she packed.
-THE SHOES!!!! THEY WAY THE WINGS WERE WOVEN OUT OF THE SHOELACES?!?! I'm a VFX fanatic, and that was so cool!
- Annabeth and Thalia's tree?? I almost cried oh my god. But Percy's line of "She met the fate of a pinecone" So funny but now is not the time sir.
- I have read these books so many times with the most recent being the beginning of December and it never clicked to me properly that Grover was both of their protectors. Like I knew that Grover found Annabeth and Grover was Percy's protector but the line of "He was my protector first." Was a real light bulb moment for me.
- The song on the bus! Oh my god I'm going to use that when my baby cousins fight. I really thought the clapping was going to be Alecto but it was Grover singing his happy song.
- Annabeth not knowing which snacks to get! I love her characterisation so much I don't think anyone could've done as good a job as Leah.
-The two furies! That was cool! Annabeth just stabbing Alectos sister as an answer to Alecto? Badass.
- The Medusa scene was so different to the book and honestly I preferred it. It was a scene I never really understood its use apart from to demonstrate Percy has a rebellious streak and Annabeth's fatal flaw is hubris. What do you mean a daughter of Athena wouldn't realise aunty ems was medusa based on the statues it's like Greek mythology 101. But the way they had to pick between Medusa and Alecto and the lesser of two evils! Tell me that's not foreshadowing for choosing between 12 O's and big bad K (speaking in code to avoid non-reader spoilers for future events.)
- More on Medusa, the plan??? Made so much more sense and I almost broke when Percy tried to suggest Annabeth left her hat behind!!
-PERCY SAYING HE THOUGHT ANNABETH WOULD NEVER BE HIS FRIEND! You cannot tell me Annabeth just felt like she'd been punched in the gut. All those years she's waited and she finally gets chosen for her wit and ability to stay on task but then the forbidden kid she's been waiting revealed it's actually because he hates her. Ouch.
- Them revealing why they didn't take the respective deals?? Brilliant.
- "they'll think we're impertinent." "I am impertinent" "but we're not" the trio in one foul swoop: reason, rebellion and reputation.
- I am unsure how I feel about Lin as Hermes, I think maybe he'll grow on me but he looked so pissed off in the elevator and then was so proud of their mischief. It was a good little moment.

⚠️Does contain The Sun and The Star spoilers so continue at your own risk!!!⚠️
I don’t know when Will Solace became one of my favourite Percy Jackson characters but it probably has something to do with the fact that he’s one of those characters that’s deeply traumatised but everyone forgets about it
So (for some reason) i’m gonna sit here and list everything my man’s been through:
At ten years old he and his mother got attacked by Stymphalian birds, found by his satyr and taken to camp halfblood where he, at some point, became a year round camper
He admits that his mother, despite his love for her, could be quite neglectful during her time on tour and he grew to live with it but now he’s scared of being abandoned
Between the ages of 10-12 he’s training to be a field medic in camp
Had to watch his friends and family switch sides to fight against them and probably had to watch them die throughout the course of the books (it’s mentioned that there’s countless demigods deaths from Kronos’ side during the battles)
At 13/14 he fights in a battle to defend his home where his brother, Lee Fletcher, dies along with many other campers including some from the Apollo cabin
Within the same battle he probably has to heal many of his friends as well as watch them die as he believes he ‘fails’ to heal them
At 14 he fights in The Battle of Manhattan where it’s believed the Apollo cabin suffers the most fatalities (four documented, however I remember seeing somewhere that the cabin was practically empty due to fatalities and switching sides by the end of the series)
During the battle he heals Annabeth, which drains most of his energy, he creates a field hospital on Olympus to heal other campers and he becomes head counsellor of the Apollo cabin as Michael Yew was never found after the bridge collapse.
Fought in another battle literally less than a year after the last one and delivered a baby mid way through at the age of 14/15, had two entire camps full of children depending on his skills as the head healer
Watched Octavian willingly hurtle himself to his death and believes he ‘let’ him do it even after being ashamed that he’s related to Octavian.
Let himself be a distraction for six guards that would have happily either killed him or captured him
Spent his days after the battle with Gaea in the infirmary healing other campers, or watching them suffer through injuries they would ultimately not recover from
Has his father just fuckin plummet to earth and pitch up at camp as an egotistical teenager after his own powers were going mental and camp was falling into disarray because Apollo was no longer an Olympian throughout
Has to help his father complete his quests and heal other injured campers during fights and battles all whilst trying to make sure his boyfriend and his father don’t do anything stupid and die
Finally gets a break at camp with his boyfriend with no other campers and gets a prophecy that insinuates that he will have to go to the depths of tartarus which could either drive him insane or just straight up kill him off and be abandoned there
Goes on said quest and before they’ve even gotten into tartarus he’s passed out 3 times, is the colour of literal wax and has wounds that have just randomly opened up on his body after collapsing on a hill of what’s described as glass shards and rolling down.
is plagued by nightmares, gets drawn in by voices of tormented, pain ridden souls and loses his one source of light that’s keeping his barely sane
Comes to the realisation that he cannot heal everything and that not everything needs to be healed. That his boyfriend has dark parts that Will may not like but that’s okay and they can learn to live with those parts of eachother
(i fully believe that, if it came to it, despite his objections, he would have sacrificed himself to stay in tartarus if it meant Nico and Bob got out alive)
I know many people love to talk about Nico’s trauma and honestly fair enough cause his trauma is deep and horrific and he deserves to heal and be happy and his trauma should never be overlooked
however i will never miss an opportunity to bring up will solace and talk about the shit he’s been through

Facts About Fellow Writers Tag Game
Thanks so much @graysparrowao3 for tagging me! This was a lot of fun to think about!
Last book I read: So it's been a very long time since I've read a physical book because books are very expensive these days, but the last one I've read was a book from the Olympian series by George O'Conner. I can't remember which one specifically, but I believe it was Hera or Ares?? I got the majority of the collection when I was younger because I loved Greek Mythology! I still do, honestly!
Greatest literary inspiration: It was the Maximum Ride series! They had it in my school library in graphic novel form, and I instantly was enthralled! I wanted so badly to make stories after that, to the point where I wrote my own book. (I don't have it anymore, but that's probably good since it was very terribly written lmao)
Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write: I would love more things on the tiefling refugees! I want to see an exploration on their perspectives on everything for sure!
Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: Bex and Danis! I love those two so much, it makes me so happy seeing them both. I want to write a one shot but I doubt anyone would read it, so it would probably be something for myself hahaha!
You can recognize my writing by: I have no idea! I don't think there's a lot of specific things in my writing style. I've only recently written depressing things so maybe that? That sounds so bad haha!
My most controversial take (current fandom): Personally, I think Act 3 feels a bit incomplete? I think there was more that could be done to tie things together more. Because of that reason Act 3 is my least favorite Act out of the other 2.
Current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): A solid 7 I think! I recently got swamped with projects and work, but when I have the time I'm always writing something out on my phone! Whether a small scene, some poetry, or random snippets to put in future chapter! Recently there's been lots of random scenes for Rolan and my Tav, Pyxis. Though with other fics I've been lagging behind because I've been so busy.
Top three favourite tropes: As much there is plenty of tropes I dislike, there's also plenty I love! It was so hard to pick just three!
Hurt/Comfort: An all time classic for me! I'm a sucker for hurt comfort always, it's usually what I filter first when getting into a new fandom! When my Rolan brainrot started, this tag is where I went first so I could see him get a hug.
Sharing a Bed: When done well, this trope can be pretty funny and/or sweet! It doesn't even have to lead into sex, my favorite is when the characters lay there and let themselves be vulnerable, possibly open up! There's so much you can do with this trope to make it unique!
Mutual Pining: I've always been into pining tropes! There's so many creative ways to write it, and I also love writing it myself! The tension, the misunderstandings, the slowburn, all of it! Exploring
Share a random frustration: I can have the most beautiful sentence in my head, yet when I try to put it down in writing, it never comes out the way I want it! It's incredibly annoying and makes me feel like I'm a bad writer sometimes.

Book Reviews
For a while now I’ve been wanting to write book reviews on some platform, and I have a GoodReads account but all my family and friends follow me on that and no one else reads reviews, so I think I’m going to start writing reviews of books on here for literally no reason at all.
In the year of 2022, so far (9th Oct), I have read 24 books. My goal was originally 25, but I have increased that to 30. The 24 books are as follows, with my thoughts after them:
1. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan: (Dec 29, 2021 - Jan 3) I love this entire series, and this was mys econd time reading them. I have a very big soft spot for Percy Jackson, and it is my comfort series now. This goes for the whole series. 5/5 stars for the whole series.
2. The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan: (Jan 6 - Jan 13)
3. The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan: (Jan 15 - Jan 18)
4. The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan: (Jan 20 - Jan 23)
5. Heartstopper: Volume One by Alice Oseman: (Read the entire series Feb 2 - Feb 3) I also love this series and can claim I have been a fan since like 2017 or 2018 when I first bought the first volume. 5/5 stars for the whole series purely for personal enjoyment.
6. Heartstopper: Volume Two by Alice Oseman
7. Heartstopper: Volume Three by Alice Oseman
8. Heartstopper: Volume Four by Alice Oseman
9. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan: (Jan 26 - Feb 6) I love Percy Jackson and I have tried so many times to get into the Heroes of Olympus series but I literally just cannot do it. I don’t know what it is, whether it’s new, unfamiliar characters or the thickness of the books, but I just cannot get into them. I have the whole series and the Trials of Apollo series after that just sitting on my shelf, collecting dust. 4/5 stars for feeling bad.
10. The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket: (Feb 6) I have been slowly eating away at this series over the past few years after watching the Netflix show, but every single one of the books literally take me a few hours to read. 4/5 stars for Lemony’s writing style. Love him.
11. Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston: (Feb 8 - Feb 12) I remember being a tad bored at the very start of this book, but by the end of the first chapter I was pretty interested. It’s actually one of my favourite books lol but I feel weird saying it because others might not say it. 5/5 stars because fuck you.
12. The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket: (Feb 10 - Feb 14) I have no idea why this took me FOUR DAYS to read when it’s like 100 pages. I think I just read it one day, didn’t read it for two days, then finished it. For some reason this is 3/5 stars on GoodReads but I think I was just in a mood or something. 4/5 stars.
13. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: (Feb 15 - Mar 6) I’m gonna be honest, this book is great and I loved it, but the reason it took me so long to read was because of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing style. I have no idea what it is, but it takes me a while to read her other books, too. I love her, and her writing style does not take away from the story, but it’s just a bit slow. I like faster paced books, but not so fast that it’s ridiculous how fast a relationship is moving. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Taylor is overrated or anything, just a bit slow for my liking. 4/5 stars.
14. As Far as You’ll Take Me by Phil Stamper: (Mar 14 - Mar 31) What the absolute fuck was this book. By ‘As Far as You’ll Take Me’ did he mean, ‘As Far as You’ll Drag Me Along’? Never again. I saw a review that said this book was about the annoying kid you went to highschool with and they are absolutely correct. Boring asf. 2/5 stars for feeling like I would hurt the main character’s feelings.
15. One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus: (Apr 30 - May 15) I surprisingly really liked this one. I thought it was just gonna be some cringy mystery book that popped out of 2014 Wattpad, but it was actually really good. The show is a literal pile of dog shit, though. 4/5 stars.
16. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid: (May 15 - Jun 1) Like I said, something about Taylor’s writing makes her books hard to read. This book was nice though, and I liked the interview style even though I had never read anything like it before. It was kinda like a documentary. I also like how she kinda breaks the fourth wall in most of her books, but in this one it made no sense. Like I didn’t understand it at all?? Someone explain pls. 4/5 stars.
17. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz: (Jun 3 - Jun 5) I literally loved this book so so much. The short chapters? Yes. The long distance and awkward letters? Errr OK. The secret and oblivious pining? Yes. The slow burn? Yes. But a lot of people say that you can only enjoy this book when you’re, like, 14 or 15, and my case actually proves that point. I am 14. But I do not care because this duology was the only thing I could think about for WEEKS. 5/5 stars.
18. Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Saenz: (Jun 20 - Jun 25) I was SO excited when I found out there was a second book to the first one. I was even MORE excited when I bought it and read it. I literally loved it so so much. Again, the only thing I could think about for weeks. 5/5 stars.
19. Solitaire by Alice Oseman: (Jul 22 - Jul 31) Eh. This was... OK. Tori is a very woe is me character and I just don’t like those types of characters. The ‘love story’ between her and Michael probs could’ve been done a bit better, but overall was a pretty good book. But I literally saw a comment on TikTok that was like ‘solitaire had me bawling my eyes out’ or something like that and I was literally like??? what the fuck are you on about??? also the whole school burning down is a lil ridiculous. 3/5 stars.
20. Beach Read by Emily Henry: (Aug 15 - Aug 25) Also eh. This was literally just OK. That’s it. It was better than Solitaire, definitely, but still not the greatest. I did like the fact that Gus had a thing for her since College and whatever. I did not like the fact he was a divorced man and kept running away and the fact he was name Gus. The fuck? I’m afraid that Emily Henry’s other book, Book Lovers, is the exact same thing, too. 3.5/5 stars because I felt bad for 3 stars.
21. Nick and Charlie by Alice Oseman: (Sep 10) This book was pretty good. I didn’t read it for very long so there wasn’t much time for me to get some emotions about it together, but it’s really just an extension of the comics without so much comic. 4/5 stars.
22. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid: (Sep 15 - Sep 27) AGAIN. wHAT. This is kinda mid ngl. Why is EVERYONE hyping this book up like it’s the book o fthe century? Idk man. I though this was gonna be like people running around, freaking out, getting out of a burning down house, but no. The house burns down on, like, the last page. Also did not like the individual pages of random people being introduced that I couldn’t keep track of when they weren’t mentioned again for like pages and pages. I. DID. NOT. REMEMBER. THEM. WHO TF ARE THEY??? Whatever. Still a good book ig, since everyone says it is. 3/5 stars.
23. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson: (Sep 27 - Oct 2) OMG. I LOVE. This book was very very good. I loved nearly every bit of this book but especially parts with Pippa and Ravi. I was kicking my feet and giggling over them instead of focusing on the main plot. But the main plot was AMAZING. I love a good mystery. Probs one of my favourite books now. I gave it 4/5 stars on GoodReads but I’m gonna change it to 5/5 stars.
24. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: (Oct 2 - Oct 6) I love you, Charlie Kelmeckis. I took the OpenPsychometrics quiz and Charlie was the second character to come up (after Viktor from Arcane (idk who that is)). While I relate to Charlie so much, this book is pretty good. It’s not the most amazing book I’ve ever read, but it will now stick with me for the rest of my life. I did like it. 4/5 stars.
I understand that the Heartstopper series is very short and don’t really count as books but I literally do not care at all. If they’re on GoodReads, I’m going to record them.
The next book I was going to read was The Dictionary of Lost Words, but that seemed like a slow start and very long and I didn’t think I had the mental capacity for it right now, so I started They Both Die at the End, which I’m not gonna lie, I don’t have very many expectations for. It doesn’t seem like a very good book lol. Don’t come for me, BookTok girlies.
See you in the next review!!

I once dreamt that a Ben 10 and Percy Jackson podcast got swapped
This one requires a bit of context.
So, recently, before I go to bed, I have been listening to one of 2 podcasts/online series. The first is “The Newest Olympian” by Mike Schubert. In this show, the host, Mike Schubert having never read the Percy Jackson books before, reads through the Percy Jackson books one chapter at a time where he discusses said chapter with a guest and makes predictions on what happens next. Percy Jackson is a YA book series about Ancient Greek Mythology and Gods being present in modern-day America.
Tumblr media
Figure 1: Splash page of the Newest Olympian
The other series is “Ben 10 Breakdown” by Kuro The Artist. In this show, Kuro goes through the Ben 10 series one episode at a time (usually) where he discusses the plot, characters, art and other trivia of the show that he’s very familiar with. Ben 10 is a superhero show about a 10 year old that finds an Alien watch that lets him turn into 10+ Aliens that he uses to be a superhero.
Tumblr media
Figure 2: Screenshot of Kuro’s first Episode
So last night, I dreamt that the 2 hosts had magically switched topics. So Schubert was talking about Ben 10 and Kuro on Percy Jackson.
So starting with Schubert’s new show “Ben 10-less”, Schubert was reviewing the first episode with his guest where he said his favourite alien would be XLR8 (the fast one) because he could complete his chores faster and would be able to win at basketball much quicker. His big prediction for the show was that Ben didn’t get his Alien Watch by accident. That there had to be a reason that Ben specifically got it. So he predicted that the reason was that Ben’s parents were part Alien and knew he would be the chosen one so prepared the Watch for him to find and be a hero.
Tumblr media

Figure 4: XLR8 being able to do chores quickly.
Meanwhile, Kuro was reviewing the first chapter of Percy Jackson where he started talking about how he couldn’t imagine how much harder video editing and animation would be if one had ADHD like Percy. And how the Greek Gods had a completely different plane of morality compared to humans (explaining how they often did actions that humans found reprehensible but the Greek Gods didn’t care) and then discussed stuff from the last book and how they were being foreshadowed in the first chapter (that I obviously can’t discuss here for spoilers).

what are three things you're looking forward to next year?
create a meme or moodboard that captures your past writing-year! Okay i’ll post that probably tomorrow
which character(s) turned out differently from what you had planned? how so? Almost all my characters ended up differently. Most of them didn’t even exist at first. Alessandra was named Aliza. Astrophel was Benjamin. Raymond and Iacób didn’t exist. Lana was British. Etc.
which scene was harder/easier to write than anticipated? why? The scene where everyone meets up! I need a nonconvoluted reason as to why they meet.
if your character(s) had their own new years resolutions, what would those be? Alessandra: join the army (and if possible: die 😁); David: tell my dad to stuff it (hopefully poetically); Raymond: be braver; Iacób: get the girl; Astrophel: reunite my family; Musa: don’t kill my new adopted family; Henri: go another year without being killed by Musa;
how did you change as a writer? did you learn anything new? started to plan instead of pants? share your wisdom! I’m less straight to the point and my metaphors are much better

Ok so today is Friday the 13, and I absolutely adore this day. And because of this I am gonna make this post dedicated to the conspiracyingly (I don’t care if that’s not a word it’s my word ha ha) history origin of Friday the 13.
Yes yes I knoooow I’m supposed to be Greek mythology and stuff, but like come ooooon this is interesting stuff I’m actually considering making this blog dedicated to Greek myths, Norse myths, folklore, etc etc I just really think that would be super cool (maybe I’ll do like each month a different mythology)
Anyways let’s get arolling
Norse mythology might have something to do withe it.
So fun fact the name of Friday derives from frigga, who was the allmother of gods wife to Odin.
So we all know the tale of baldir and the mistle toe? (Well if you don’t that tale is definitely coming in December because it’s sorta Christmasy)
In viking myth, 12 gods were having a banquet in Valhalla. Unbeknownst to them though, there was a 13th uninvited guest. This uninvited guest was…LOKI!!
I love Loki so much I could dedicate a whole blog about just him. I love him just as much as I love hades they be my favourite gods.
So Loki (who is the god of mischief for anyone who doesn’t know) arrived and was all like blergh it’s me, then deceived Hodr (who is the blind god of darkness) into shooting Baldir withe a mistletoe tip arrow, thus killing him.
And yes yes I know it’s a very vague description of the myth but this post isn’t dedicated to the myth only the context.
And frigga was heartbroken from the death of her beloved favourate son.
And since Friday was named after frigga, and the 13th person killed who she loved dearly, Friday the 13 is said to bring bad luck and sorrow.
Another story that could have contributed in Friday the 13 being ya know, bad luck, is in the Christian era.
So again a dinner party, the last supper, which if you don’t know what it is it’s basically the last supper Jesus had before his arrest and it was when he showed his followers he would be the Passover lamb of god (aka what he was about to do for the behalf of mankind). If you want more information just look it up, google probably explains it better.
So Jesus and his crew of the 12 disciples were seated at the table. And the 13th person to sit down was Judas, who is the disciple who betrayed Jesus, and a big contributor to the crucification. It is also believed that the crucification happened on Friday the 13, but it isn’t stated specifically, it only states that his crucification was on “Good Friday”
Oh and still staying in biblical terms, even further back was withe Adam and Eve. It is believed that they ate the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge (not to be confused withe the tree of life) and were kicked out of the garden of Eden on Friday the 13, ANDDD even moreso was supposedly the day Cain murdered his brother Abel.
Now that we sorta understood why Friday is unlucky, we can now go onto specifically the number 13. So one of the reasons why 13 might be seen as unlucky is due to it coming after 12
12 is considered a complete number, withe there being 12 months in a year, 12 hours on a clock, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 Olympians, 12 tasks of Hurcles, 12 stations of the sun and moon, etc etc.
So 13 is considered erratic and unlucky.
And obviously modern culture hasn’t really helped either, withe the movies and books about how unlucky and horrory Friday the 13 is.
So yeah, there’s probably a lot more reasons for this, but in all honesty, there is no reason but moreso reasonS. Seriously, lots of reasons why Friday the 13 could be considered unlucky.

The Last Olympian Thoughts
So because I have absolutely 0 self-control or restraint when it comes to this series and its characters, and for The Last Olympian in particular, I could not put TLO down. Because of this I figured I couldn’t do the usual photo reaction posts I have been so far, because the spam would just be ridiculous, so I am stealing the idea from @yourstrulytaaay to do a masterpost instead. (Adding a Read More cause this got ridiculously long)
Fun fact, TLO came out right after i finished reading the series for the first time so it's the first PJO book i bought  and my only hard cover one for the og series. I checked the year and turns out it was published 2009, which means i was actually 9 when i read the series for the first time. I realize this is not really a fun fact but i thought i was older when I first read the series so it's blowing my mind a little ‘cause now I’m 21 and everything hits different and i still have so much love for this series and the characters Okay onto book thoughts: - i was right that this book is gonna destroy me, the first line alone made me so excited and nostalgic it's ridiculous - I love Rachel and Percy sm tbh. Her being a bit of peace and normalcy in his life without always reminding Percy of who and what he is is so good for him. Just a little escape
- of course by the end of the book that's not the case any more but by the end he's lived his prophecy so he doesn't need it as badly, plus he and Annabeth are solid again - Percy saying Annabeth has been hard to be around lately... Ouch my heart. Luke really is the last thing that keeps them from being together and Percy is so jealous and Annabeth so torn and in pain, i feel so bad for them both

- Beckendorf 🥺🥺 - the telkhine with the Lil Demon lunchbox!! I forgot about him. Percy: 'i left him alive, partly because his lunchbox was cool' is one of my absolute favourite lines tbh - Paul taking Percy crabbing and being imperative in helping Percy kill the giant crab 💖 Paul Blofis is important and deserves the world, okay? - aw Percy, you can't save every demigod bb
Tumblr media
- 'i had to fight him eventually. Why not now?... What difference would a week make?' Oh Percy you have no idea - real talk tho, the fact Kronos possessed Luke's body would also mess me tf up. Percy keeps forgetting it's not Luke anymore and yeah, that would be so so hard and confusing af, like what another smart little mind game for Kronos to pull on top of everything else - the fact Percy fights Kronos before getting the Achilles Curse and actually doesn't die within seconds is... Astounding. He kicks him in the chest! And yeah Kronos is weaker and still adjusting to Luke's body, but Percy is having trouble fighting Luke cause they used to be friends - Percy breaks Kronos' time magic!! Like?! Boy is POWERFUL.
Tumblr media
- OUCH - honestly Luke, Thalia and Annabeth's family breaking the way it did... Don't talk to me. Poor Annabeth, Luke betrayed them, Thalia joined the Hunters because of Luke's betrayal so she's pretty much AWOL all the time and then Luke dies. Like Rick wtf, my heart can't take it? -Percy and Tyson having each others backs when talking to Poseidon in the underwater palace is the brother-brother relationship we love to see - Percy trying to stick a sand dollar in the vending machines at school 🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ - the whole underwater interaction at Poseidon's palace? Perfection. Awkward family drama and all - Connor falling out of the tree when he sees Percy because he's so excited 😂😂
Tumblr media
- 😭💖
Tumblr media
- k, ik Clarisse isn't perfect but tbh if i was a child of Ares whose father was disrespected and hated by my fellow campers (ares deserves it but still) and that disrespect trickled down to how the other campers treated ME (which if Percy is reliable here, it obviously does) then i would also be irritated at being used for muscle and nothing else? And just expected to fight with the people who act as if they'd rather not have Ares kids around the rest of the time. Like Clarisse isn't totally wrong - Percy reading the prophecy, seeing he's meant to die and just being like 'i do not see it' and refusing to outright think about it makes me so sad for him - (but it taints every action after and he's super reckless afterwards bc of it- including finally breaking and accepting the Achilles Curse) - (also him taking this as the last straw and finally beginning to show Annabeth how he really feels, cause fuck it, he's dying anyway) - Give me more info about Rachel's backstory and family Rick!! -  how did i forget Percy willingly eats chocolates that taste like cardboard because 'i didnt have anything against cardboard' like sir? Ik Silena didn't want them but still? - 'she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful' STOP, MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT - Percy staring at Annabeth and forgetting what they're talking about cause hes so distracted 👌🏻
Tumblr media
- hmm yeah... For some strange reason.... - i forgot how Percy totally bombs this convo bw them and now want to cry 😭 Annabeth is trying to talk about what's important and Percy, you sweet oblivious man, you're shooting her down without even realizing - love that they're both on the same wavelength tho. Percy two lines before, hmm it's cool to date ppl from other cabins, wonder why im thinking that around Annabeth, my best friend in the world, and then Annabeth a beat later, hmm, let me bring up Silena and Beckendorf and how it's important to be with the people you love when you have the chance, no way Percy will miss this huge hint right? - they're the best - k i honestly forgot Percy full on physically intimidates Leneus like that - luke telling his mom if he ran away the monsters wouldnt get her..i can just imagine luke crying when he says good bye before running away because he thinks it's his fault his mom is like that and he cant take care of and protect her anymore because it's too hard - uh oh now i have angsty pre-lightning thief luke fic inspo... Him, Thalia and Annabeth on the run... The ANGST -  Rick holds absolutely nothing back in this book and i am in pain - HESTIA!! 💖💖🥰 - actual loml - i love that Rick titled this book after her and that he wrote such a great series about the importance of family (biological, found or otherwise) and home, and that he said actually Hestia is the most important bc shes the most humble and keeps the peace and knows when to fight and when to yield and you protect what you love, which is your home - i just... Adore Hestia - Grover! Missed you babes - Hades is so so horrible to Nico, always comparing him to Bianca :/ - but i do love Hades, Persephone and Demeter together they make me laugh - oh god the River Styx - Achilles 🥺 - Annabeth being Percy's lifeline is, and continues to be, A Lot™ - 'my name was Percy Jackson. I reached up and took Annabeth's hand.' LOL Why am i crying? - Like the fact there is no Percy without Annabeth, and that remembering her literally reminded him of who he is in his very soul... It's fine im fine - i won't even get into the parallels of her being his lifeline now and then later when Hera takes his memories but leaves the memory of Annabeth for Percy to fight to get back to (anyone who wants to yell about it with me... Feel free to message) - badass Percy is my fav Percy tbh - him defeating Hades?? Like? Hades is arguably the most powerful god, okay - i feel bad for Nico but if i was Percy I'd do the exact same, Nico, sorry man but this is a high stakes time crunch deal and Nico is literally the only hope of persuading Hades and distracted by his own internal stuff - flashbacks to Luke, Thalia and Annabeth hurt, ow - George and Martha are the best - damn i forgot Hermes full on nearly kills Percy here, yikes - Luke stop cockblocking Percabeth challenge
Tumblr media
- i love!! Percy's love for New York!! So much!! - Percy leaving to live in New Rome in HoO is a lie and this is all the proof i need for why - the fact the entire last half of the book is the battle and aftermath... Such great buildup and pacing. All the tricks and twists and battles in this War of Manhattan? I would not take out a thing, Rick, you legend - of course then the final battle in hoo with the gods is what? Two pages? Ugh, don’t talk to me about my hatred for BoO and HoO - 'no detours you two' is still the cutest thing!!! - THE HUNTERS!! Thalia i missed you - good job Percy, you finally spent your sand dollar - Minotaur!! - 'dont i get a kiss for luck? Its kind of a tradition right?' Percy finds out he's gonna die and is out of fucks to give and honestly I support him - also Michael just standing beside these two while they're flirting like umm 👀 👀 while a monster army marches towards them, nbd - Annabeth taking Ethan's knife meant for Percy!!! Cause she just knows his weak spot without him even telling her! They literally invented love - Feral Percy is so scary omg, i love how well Rick incorporates the Achilles Curse in this novel, with the whole heightened weaknesses and stuff ans the parallels to Achilles arrogance being what killed him and Percy's loyalty, fierceness and protective instinct being his own heightened weakness - the fact that Percy is the one who inadvertantly kills Michael Yew tho, I'll never recover from that - the fact Hades offers Maria di Angelo a golden palace by the Styx like how Poseidon offers Sally a palace under the sea tho. Let's talk about that parallel - the entire talk with Prometheus is so so good - not me picturing young Luke hiding in the closet to get away from his mom when she has an 'episode' -i love callbacks in stories and all of the callbacks to the rest of the series in this book make me very happy (medusa, minotaur, the underworld, Rainbow!! My baby!!, Daedalus and more) - Percy summoning a wholeass hurricane against Hyperion - the Party Ponies! They're so chaotic, i love it - Dionysus! 😁 I can't help it, i love him - Percy absolutely losing it when he sees Sally and Paul asleep in the car 🥺 - Rachel telling Percy he's not the hero screws with him so much :( poor bb - although i really really love how Rick wrote this, it's so refreshing to not have one chosen one save the world, but a combination of people - the drakon, Silena and Clarisse make me cry - the Patrochilles references, im not okay - Annabeth giving up on Luke after hearing what he did to Silena and Percy telling her that doesn't make him happy 😭 that whole interaction makes my heart ache - Percy giving Hestia Pandora's pithos 🥺 - and Hades, Nico and the others coming for a final attack is so badass, i love it - listen im glad the og trio were the ones to confront Luke on Olympus but the fact Thalia got so close and then pinned by a statue of HERA makes me so sad. Ik her and Luke were finished and she coped by cutting him off completely and giving up all hope but i would pay money to know what they would have said to each other to say goodbye - Ethan 🥺 - Poseidon joining the fight against Typhon is so cool, such a great scene - 'PEANUT BUTTER!' - Annabeth you brilliant badass you - RIP Luke, you werent great but you werent the worst either - the gods just rolling up seconds too late, wondering wtf happened in Olympus and who the dead body is - the chapter where the Olympians meet and give out rewards is one of my absolute favourites (again i am incensed we didn't get anything like this in HoO) - will Percy turning down immortality ever not make me scream in glee? No? Alright then - Annabeth being relieved like Percy was relieved at the end of Titan's Curse tho - oh Hermes :/ - its so hard reading all this and knowing what comes in HoO... Like it's such a cathartic, earned and mostly happy and peaceful ending and then HoO comes along and undermines it all - aww Rick let Paul see Olympus somehow pls, he deserves it, he killed a dracanae - (i would also love to see it) - Percy being more upset Rachel took his pegasus than her going to Camp and possibly dying, lol, priorities dude - i honestly think that Rick had other ideas for the second Great Prophecy and how things would go down in BoO, cause the prophecy like... Barely applies to BoO, Doors of Death are in book four, and explabations of it is all so unclear when Rick is usually pretty good with that stuff - PERCABETH - lol Percy complaining about privacy when he and Annabeth are caught kissing literally in the middle of the very open and public dining pavilion, okay - BEST UNDERWATER KISS OF ALL TIME - that's it and im a glass case of emotion - very happy to say that this series remains my favourite of all time 💖
If anyone ever wants to come gush about anything Riordanverse related feel free, because as you can see I have a lot of thoughts about it all

Jason and Juno
I just want to talk about them. I have so many feelings and I can’t find anyone else that cares about them. But, like, why not?
Because Rick ignored Jason in HoO and I still haven’t got my Roman prequels, that’s why.
I freaking love Jason anyway and I always have. And I admit, reading original PJO, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Hera, but we weren’t really supposed to be I don’t think. But Juno? Nah man, Juno is cool.
Everybody seems to write her off because she’s Hera and we all know Hera sucks, and obviously Percy and Annabeth don’t like Hera so makes sense that we kinda subconsciously take their lead. But Juno is cool - and I will absolutely fight that corner forever. It’s like, Ares was kinda a dick in many regards, but Mars was a good dad to Frank, Mars was cool too.
Juno was one of the only gods interested in actively helping demigods, particularly her favoured ones, sure, but she still tried to help. And she obviously cared about them too. Not just Jason, it was very evident she liked Leo a lot too (and I love that too). And we know - at least from ToA - that she had a soft spot for Frank too (and honestly who can blame her).
But yeah, so I actually dig Juno in HoO. She helped out, she was awesome, she was actively nice at least to Jason.
So that’s the first thing to get over. Hate Hera if you want to - but let me convince you that Juno is better. Re-read the books and look for her being nice and cool. Because it’s there.
On top of that though, the relationship between Juno and Jason just makes me so happy and warm. I love it so much, even though I haven’t seen anyone else that seems to care.
Jupiter was at least as much of a dick as Zeus was - that’s something everyone agrees on I think. And I think a lot of us if not everyone can agree that he was a worse dad to Jason than he was to Thalia. And maybe that’s because he washed his hands of responsibility for him after he gifted Jason to Juno. (Dick move btw.) but either way, he basically ignored Jason his entire life and throughout HoO. He was hands down one of the most distant godly parents of the seven and of a lot of main heroes we’ve followed in the series’. So Jason couldn’t really depend on him for help or guidance an awful lot and basically felt like he didn’t have a father. But at least he had Juno.
Juno was a good patron to him. She helped him where she could. She actively and genuinely cared about him. She tried to make herself available for chats when he needed them as much as she could. Gave him presents (his gladius) and praise when he did well, pep talks for what was ahead. As pseudo foster mothers go, she really wasn’t bad. Closest thing Jason had to a parent, and yeah, he could’ve had worse. He did have worse with his alcoholic slightly off the rails actual mother who gave him away, and had worse in a dad who never spoke to him or saw him or lifted a finger to help him until the very last second and who also gave him away. I kinda gotta figure after that kind of treatment from both your actual parents, getting what he got from his patron was probably very appreciated.
And Juno/Hera is the goddess of marriage and family among other things. Throughout the series it’s pretty much her biggest hang up. And obviously she wasn’t always the best mother (poor Hephaestus) to her actual kids, but she kinda held Olympus together. Stopped them all tearing each other apart. Family was important to her and something she valued. Obviously she hated when her husband cheated on her and had someone else’s kids. Honestly? That’s pretty reasonable to be unhappy about. But she watched the rest of her family, literally forever, having kids willy nilly when they wanted to. Obviously Artemis didn’t, but she didn’t want kids and she had the hunters so that’s fine. For someone that loves family so much, it’s very possible she could’ve been a little envious of everyone else having huge families. She still had her Olympian family, but maybe she would’ve liked to have some demigods of her own, if it didn’t involve cheating which she just won’t do. She favoured original Jason and was his patron too, so she was happy enough to adopt them, but it still wasn’t something she did often. So she didn’t get a lot of mortal kids and might’ve felt like she was missing out. But at least she had Jason.
So, being given another little adopted demigod, hell yeah she probably loved mothering him. He was totally her kid. He didn’t have any parent or family to be there for him, she didn’t have any demigod kids of her own and knew she never will. That’s hella cute that they can adopt each other.
Everyone loves found families lately - well this is basically that. Kinda forced at first but doesn’t mean they wouldn’t grow to love each other. They helped each other, could depend on each other. Juno is literally the patron of Rome as well. So even if Jason hadn’t known from the off that he’d been given to Juno, he’d have still had the sense that she had his back along with the rest of Rome, so he might’ve asked for a little help or guidance before HoO, maybe while he was Praetor too. And Juno being New Rome’s patron would’ve probably kept an eye over Camp Jupiter and especially when Jason rose to Praetor she could’ve been paying more attention to him from then. Watched out for him during the Titan War.
I want to know more about them. Especially if Jason was fully aware that she was his patron the whole time before HoO. I want them to have had some sort of relationship. I want them to like each other at least a little. Nico and Hades got closer eventually. Percy and Poseidon (and honestly a bunch of the gods) got on well. Mars adored Frank. Aphrodite seems pretty cuddly with her kids in general. I don’t think it’d be a terrible stretch for Juno and Jason to have each other’s backs.
I want to know if Jason ever made offerings for her along with Jupiter. Burnt food at CHB for her as well as his dad.
I want to know if Juno ever helped him out on earlier quests at all, whether he knew it or not. If she ever gave him and maybe Reyna too, sort of a Praetor deal, counsel.
I want to see Juno fully lean into having Jason as her favourite, as her chosen hero. I want to see her lend some power to him when he needs it. I want to see Jason with the Blessing of Juno. How many demigods would’ve ever gotten that? That’s unheard of. I want it for him. I want to see him marching on Mount Othrys to take down Krios and topple the throne, not with the blessing of Jupiter (although I would also love to see him with that, that would be so cool!) but with the blessing of Juno, patron of Rome. I wanna see him monologuing Krios into intimidation like he did to the giants: I'm the son of Jupiter, I'm a child of Rome, consul to demigods, praetor of the First Legion. I slew the Trojan sea monster, I have the blessing of Juno: Patron of Rome. And she also happens to be my stepmom, dick.
I talked about it in another post before, him getting her blessing. Supposedly with her Roman counterpart she’s supposed to be militaristic, strategic, etc. A blessing from his dad would be like an explosion of power, don’t get me wrong. It’d be like Thor in Infinity War. Magnificent. He could totally burst into the palace and fry Krios and destroy the throne. But I think it’d also be pretty damn awesome if he got zapped with her blessing and became like the ultimate military leader (kind of like Frank with Mars’ blessing I suppose, but more strategic instead of hitting the protein shakes), leading the troops in the invasion and being a total Praetor before he even became Praetor.
Side note: It’s probably not possible but can you imagine if he got blessings from both of them?? I doubt you can have two at a time, but that would be spectacular if he did. Especially from Jupiter and Juno. He would be incredibly powerful, no wonder the Legion made a big deal out of him in the early part of the series. Always was a little disappointed we never got to see cool Roman Jason. I love Jason, I do, but he wasn’t exactly what we heard about in The Lost Hero and Son of Neptune. It never felt like we saw his full potential. So I’m just gonna sit in my corner and dream it up instead lol.
Anyway, this was purely for me because I have a lot of feelings about these two and I couldn’t find anything about them at all or not anything positive. But if anyone else likes them or has ideas or there is stuff you can point me to, please do, I want to get involved in it and find people that are into this so bad!

If you search "Percy Jackson analysis" on tumblr, one of the first post to appear will be about a very interesting topic. They say that with Hereos of Olympus, instead of creating a new conflict Rick Riordan undid the Last Olympian ending (the gods becoming better). Also I've always preferred the first series, because HOO has many problem. I also love the new characters, so what could Riordan possibly have wrote instead?
Then I got an Idea. STAY WITH ME PLEASE
While I was still reading the first five books, Mark of Athena was published. Being not bothered by spoilers when I was little (I don't know how) I used to go to the bookshop and read the plot written on the cover. Just from the summery and the cover art I had imagined the plot. I was sure it was gonna be something all about the two camps facing each other, having actual beef and fights. From an art cover I had also imagined some sort of games between the camp to decided who had the best demigods. BUT NOW I GOT A EVEN BETTER IDEA.
The plot in my opinion should have started with someone from camp halfblood finding camp jupiter or the romans (I like to imagine it was the Stoll brothers. It would also make sense since Herms is the good of travel and messages). During that time for some reasons Chiron is away from camp.
The demigods comes back to camp and tell everyone what they found. Here we have two options.
1. Hera makes the change BUT between Jason and Annabeth. (Not my favourite one).
2. Hera, who hates Annabeth, kidnapps Annabeth and sends her to Camp Jupiter (I don't know what to do about her memories). Meanwhile the Romans now know too about the Greeks, and they send some demigod to find CHB. Jason is on the quest, and gets kidnapped by the greeks, because they think Annabeth also got kidnapped by the romans.
Now Jason has still his memories and it's stuck at camp as an hostage (inserts funny scenes about chaotic demigods not knowing what to do with him because "they never had and hostage before". Also Jason being outraged because "You don't know who I am, I'm the preator..") . Chiron comes back and get angry at everyone, and insists to treat Jason as an human being. Jason at the beginning can't stand anyone ESPECIALLY Percy, but in the end of the book they have formed a delicate and difficult to acknowledge bond.
Know I don't know exactly how the story would proceed, but for sure Leo, Piper, Frank and Hazel stay as characters.
Changes:
1. Leo stays himself expect he doesn't fall for every girl he sees, and isn't obsessed about finding love too. Actually he doesn't really care, it's more interested in his passion as a mechanic. (Or you can make him mlm, I think it would suit him)
2. Piper has not all of that "I'm not feminine and dumb like my siblings going on". Instead she grows confidence thanks to her powers, and learns to appreciate her beauty not like something that other people sexualize her for (which is a problem that POC women ACTUALLY HAVE, WHY RIORDAN DIDN'T YOU DO THIS INSTEAD), but like a gift from her mother and a good part of her.
3. Frank doesn't get the random glow up, because in this version we teach kids that you can be a great person, having a girlfriend, and being a powerful hero even if you don't have an ideal body. (Litterally what was the point)
4. Nico is actually around and at the begging he likes to make fun of Jason with Percy (or in a second moment he appears at camp and gets what probably it's going on in reality). He's not appreciated by everyone but he learns how to not care. Also solangelo actually has a relationship building here.
5. I don't know if I would age up Hazel, or make her stay just friends with Frank, but many people would like that. For sure she would get more space because she's amazing.
6. JEYNA ACTUALLY EXISTS HERE. I don't care in what form. They can be together and being a power couples, or eventually break up and create drama. I just need this plot point to not be wasted.
7. No one falld into tartarus. Because Tartarus is a mysterious and scary element in the series. Discovering what's the big mistery ruins everything. (Or if someone like a secondary character fall in it, they die that way, end of discussion). The danger of someone falling into Tartarus is still there tho.
For the plot I don't know. I just know that at some point it would be cool to see where the demigods of Krono's army are now. Actually seeing demigods of the minor gods would be cool. The prophecy is still there but it takes more time to start. (ALSO. I don't think the seven are actually the greatest demigods around. So I think that maybe they end up being the seven after accidentally winning a sort of competition like I said before)
I would cut out the part of the statue of Athena. I don't know how but I would love to still see tha quest to Alaska (maybe with Hazel, Frank, and Jason and Percy?) and the House of Hades.
There would actually be a fight between camps, but the book ends with them team up to have the goods mentally sane again. The moral is that basically they learn to understand theri cultural differences
Basically having Gaeia as the villain isn't necessary, the villain instead should be the gods who are tied to Tarturus and the danger of the door's of death would still be there. And this would give more space for Nico in the plot
I wrote this at 3:00 AM. There are probably so many mistakes. But in my mind it was too cool to not write it down.

tower of nero spoilers
i have just finished the tower of nero. and before i go searching for other people’s thoughts and art and more of the characters i love so much, i want to write down some of my own thoughts because i know as soon as i delve into that ‘ton spoilers’ hashtag there are going to be complaints and criticisms and so much that i don’t want to hear, or essays that’ll make me upset, or things that’ll change my perception on the book (because on this website people really love to hate the trials of apollo).
i want to start with: i loved it. it didn’t feel earth-shattering or huge and momentous like some of my favourite riordanverse books (house of hades, the blood of olympus, the last olympian and maybe some of the magnus chase books take those pedestals for me) but it was satisfying. and i think it was satisfying because it in no way felt like an ending. whether because eventually rick will write that will-and-nico-go-through-tartarus-and-save-bob novella, or because we (or at least i) will continue writing and imagining and creating for this world i don’t know. he didn’t wrap up the story in a perfect little bow like ‘nineteen years later’, he simply put it on pause. gave us a glimpse of where every character was at at the end.
the only thing that makes me so angry and upset is that i did manage to get some spoilers for moments that i know would have been so good to experience for the first time if i hadn’t been spoiled for them. the moment where rachel mentions penguins in a mansion near her house, nico getting mental health advice from mr d, the fact that will and nico were going to be in the book for so much of the story, but the big thing was literally spoiled for me two days ago, it was the reason i sat down to read it as fast as possible because i was terrified of getting more spoiled and not being able to experience the moments for myself, was that piper had a girlfriend. i know that reading that for the first time would have been so cool and surprising, and the fact that when it came up for a moment in the last couple pages all i felt was disappointment because it was spoiled for me and because it was now tinged with whatever that person was saying about her having a girlfriend.
but i still had some warm fuzzy moments, the two parts where apollo thinks he’s going to die but nico comes up behind him - so good. impeccable.
Leader Guy spat. ‘Now, I kill you.’
He raised his sword... and froze. His face turned pale. His skin began to shrivel. His beard fell out whisker by whisker like dead pine needles. Finally, his skin crumbled away, along with his clothes and flesh, until Leader Guy was nothing but a bleached-white skeleton, holding a sword in his bony hands.
Standing behind him, his hand on the skeleton’s shoulder, was Nico di Angelo.
and
Nero raised his hand, ready to give the kill command, when behind me a mighty BOOM! shook the chamber. Half our enemies were thrown off their feet. Cracks sprouted in the windowsand the marble columns. Ceiling tiles broke, raining dust like split bags of flour.
I turned to see the impenetrable blast doors lying twisted and broken, a strangely emaciated red bull standing in the breach. Behind it stood Nico di Angelo.
gods. poetic brilliance. i can’t believe i’m still a nico di angelo stannie in the year 2021. in five years i have not changed (ever since the tv show announcement last summer i have managed to morph into myself from 2017)
from here i’m not sure where to go next i kind of want to go through everything, except it’ll be more difficult than my tyrant’s tomb reaction because i wasn’t reading on a kindle and thus can’t just do funny little reactions to screenshots of quotes, so i’ll just skim through the book page by page and see what i can comment on (i’m not planning on doing analysis today, no thank you, just enjoying the end of my childhood and trying to squeeze as much out of it as possible)
i have an emotional attachment to mr. snake from the very first chapter, and am very upset that he’ll never get off on his baltimore stop and get to see his wife, lu had no reason to shoot and kill him like that.
that brings me to lu, i liked her, it was interesting to see how rick kind of brought in not only the overarching theme of abuse, but also people who let the abuse happen, i have more i could say on this i’m too lazy to right now, and i promised no analysis - or the fact that Lu had conspired to make the show non-lethal to spare Meg’s feelings rather than - oh, I don’t know - refusing to do Nero’s dirty work in the first place and getting Meg out of that house of horrors.
And are you any better? taunted a small voice in my brain. How many times have you stood up to Zeus?
Okay, small voice. Fair point. Tyrants are not easy to opppose or walk away from, especially when you depend on them for everything.
the parallels to meg and lester heading to percy’s apartment, and then to camp half blood to the hidden oracle was so cool to read, every callback to the hidden oracle just there to remind us readers exactly how far apollo has come and how he’s changed; the entire chapter with sally, paul and estelle just felt sickly sweet, it just didn’t seem real how wholesome and good that family is, like i get why apollo broke down and just sobbed in that shower.
also rick really saying acab again in toa, i thought he was done after that elf cop chapter in magnus chase (the magnus chase series is a masterpiece) but apparently not, with A ‘good cop’ is still a cop... still a part of the mind game.
the grey sisters, i forgot about them completely but this threw me back into was it the sea of monsters when annabeth summoned them? i’m not sure, it could have been the lightning thief either, they really remind me of the disney hercules movie. the whole ganymede paragraph was gold, i love gods being canonically confirmed lgbt in the riordanverse. i also love the whole eye-tossing part -
‘He will crush our eye,’ Anger cried, ‘if we don’t recite our verses!’
‘I will not!’
‘We will all die!’ Wasp said. ‘He is crazy!’
‘I AM NOT!’
‘Fine, you win!’ Tempest howled.
also, the explanation for why dionysus chooses to look the way he does was perfect, because it was something i often wondered about and wasn’t expecting to get an explanation for, and i imagine the whole mythological dionysus to look like.. well like a more feminine apollo i guess, beautiful in a gender non-comforming way.
Other Olympians could never comprehend why Dionysus chose this form when he could look like anything he wanted. In ancient times, he’d been famous for his youthful beauty that defied gender.
...
In retaliation, Dionysus had decided to look and act as ungodly as possible. He was like a child refusing to tuck in his shirt, comb his hair or brush his teeth, just to show his parents how little he cared.
every scene with nico at camp just BREAKS ME, i would throw in screenshots of every damn quote but unfortunately, as said above, cannot and would rather not type every one; we’ll start with, obviously apollo confirming to him that jason is dead.
He didn’t look angry exactly. He looked as if he’d been hit in the gut not just once but so many times over the course of so many years that he was beginning to lose perspective on what it meant to be in pain. He swayed on his feet. He blinked. Then he flinched, jerking his hands away from Meg’s as if he’d just remembered his own touch was poison.
ugh then will talking about how nico’s doing, confirming that he’s suffering with ptsd, mr d giving him advice, helping him sort though what voices in his head are real and which ones aren’t, then the paragraph that just recounts every horrific thing poor nico has been through, how will has to reassure him that he’s okay and ‘with friends’ when he wakes up after shadow travel
will’s kindness to apollo, buying him clothes, and apollo finding seymour the leopard’s head in his bed, put there by mr d aaaa AAAA A A A A A THE ORDINARY, EVERYDAY CAMP HALF BLOOD THINGS..
i could go on for years and years about how much i appreciate rachel having a big role in this book, and the visit to her apartment, everything, her art, the fact that she got what she wanted, she’s going to PARIS to study ART, she isn’t forced to be someone she’s not by her dad, and gets to be a big part of a demigod mission and not stand on the sidelines for once.
i love that her landscapes are still visions, that she still paints the quests demigods go on - the burning maze, jason’s funeral pyre, caligula’s ships; and how nico ~appreciates art~
‘And, hey, di Angelo -’ she pushed him playfully away from the canvas he’d been ogling - ‘don’t brush against the art! I don’t care about the paintings, but if you get any colour on you, you’ll ruin that whole black-and-white aesthetic you’ve got going.’
i. love. rachel.
WILL GLOWS!! THE HEADCANONS FROM LIKE FIVE YEARS AGO THAT YOU’D SEE FLOATING AROUND ABOUT HIM MANIPULATING LIGHT!! CONFIRMED!! CANON!! AMAZING
I AM  OBSESSED WITH THE TROGS, I LOVE THEM, THEY ARE GREAT, not gonna lie, i was expecting something more dramatic and spooky with how worried will was and how dionysus was going.. visiting the cavern-runners isn’t ♫ good for your mental health  ♫ but the little hat frog gremlins were a good addition. i like them very much and their funky little soup shenanigans. quoting the ghost king himself: trogs good. nice hats. (IM SORRY I KEEP MENTIONING HIM BUT I JUST) also how apollo starts wishing for breadsticks a s ajoke and theY STRAIGHT UP HAVE BREADSTICKS? HUH? WHERE DID THEY GET THE BREADSTICKS FROM??
yeah, i’m also still very much upset by every mention of jason grace, it’s funny how ever since his death in the burning maze i have grown to love him more and more and that’s not fun for me, for that boy to become one of my main comfort character’s and have his death and sacrifice and nobility mentioned every few chapters. i’m pretty sure i cried when he appeared to talk in apollo’s dreams, and this time the tears weren’t from the effort of keeping my eyes open and working for hours straight reading this book (i remember staying up until 2am to finish the sequel to beautiful, broken things, it was very much worth it)
‘All right, Jason. We miss you, though.’
ALSO. THE FACT THAT THIS KID. THIS CHILD. HAD TO THINK ‘BUT IF A HERO ISN’T READY TO LOSE EVERYTHING FOR A GREATER CAUSE, IS THAT PERSON REALLY A HERO?’ A KID ISN’T SUPPOSED TO THINK ABOUT THAT AND BE READY TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES FOR THE GREATER GOOD,, i,, ugh,, he’s supposed to be finishing school and designing temples not being the perfect hero and soldier,, spain without the s,,
as @couldnt-think-of-a-funny-name said: ‘thinking about how ghost! Jason didn’t seem to understand why Apollo was so upset about his death because he’s been raised to believe a hero’s sacrifice is noble and his life doesn’t matter in the grand scheme and also if he doesn’t understand why the person who watched him get horrifically killed is so torn up over his death he probably doesn’t even realize his other friends are grieving him..’
IM SO UPSET THE ARROW OF DODONA IS DEAD D: IT WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS ALL THE FUNNIEST MOMENTS WERE BECAUSE OF THAT ARROW AND IT'S DEATH WAS SO SAD WTH LIKE WE FIND OUT HOW USELESS THE ARROW FELT AND HOW THE GROVE OF DODONA ALL THOUGHT IT WOULD BE CRAP AND WOULD FAIL APOLLO AND THEN ONCE WE FEEL BAD FOR IT, IT DIES??
the entire python battle was pretty grim, there is a part of me that's like because this is the last book series i would have loved say the magnus chase and kane chronicles gang in a giant battle with everyone like the battle of manhattan but even more dramatic, but even so, i did appreciate that python battle and the whole almost-falling-into-the-depths-of-tartarus thing.
him talking to artemis was cool, but JESUS: 'I turned and strode out of my room, trying to recall how the god Apollo walked.' like that HURTS. it was such a huge culture shock for apollo to go throught this huge character arc and be so human and understand the pain of others, to be around gods again who are so.. apathetic. also, zeus. 'Interesting how he put that: I had done him proud. I had been useful in making him look good. My heart did not melt. I did not feel that this was a warm-and-fuzzy reconciliation with my father. Let's be honest: some fathers don't deserve that. Some aren't capable of it.'
OKAY OKAY SO THE END?? CHIRON TALKING TO A CAT (BAST) AND A SEVERED HEAD (MIMIR) ABOUT SHARED PROBLEMS WITHIN THE PANTHEONS!! WILL AND NICO RECEIVING A PROPHECY FROM RACHEL TO GO TO TARTARUS AND SAVE BOB!! THE HUNTERS OF ARTEMIS, INCLUDING THALIA AND REYNA BEING BEST FRIENDS (qpr.. qpr..) HUNTING THE TEUMESSIAN FOX!! PERCY, ANNABETH AND GROVER, THE ORIGINAL TRIO, GOING ON A CHAOTIC ROAD TRIP TOGETHER!! - SO MANY STAND-ALONE SET -UPS PFSJSJSJ
okay quick word on the reunions at the end: funny little elephant visitation program with livia and hannibal. love that for them. calypso and leo's relationship seems rocky and complicated, but that's to be expected, i think even if they do get properly back together again it might not last long, because it does pretty much feel like a teenage relationship where the two aren't very compatible, but we'll see. hazel and frank are so funny with their gold plated necklaces. lavinia - tap-dance icon. almost cried at the mention of jason's temple-extension plan again. percy not being sure about what he wants to do in college is accurate and i like that that's left to be up-for-interpretation (rick does THE MOST for the fanfic writers pfsjsj). i am OBSESSED with aeithales, like i hate deserts so the burning maze setting is not my favourite but GOD that HOUSE, the vibes are off-the-charts. i'd love a house made of living trees that's also a greenhouse filled with dryads. meg gets a unicorn. that is so great.
i kind of wish the book hadn't ended with 'Call on me. I will be there for you.' because every time I imagine the friends theme song and i don't think that's the vibe he was going for, BUT i do love him talking to meg, that was genuinely emotional - 'You'll come back?' she asked. 'Always,' I promised. 'The sun always comes back.' ; i really wish it had ended with that, but i guess apollo does tend to break fourth walls and talk to the readers, like a lot of the protagonists of riordanverse books.

every now and then don't you just start thinking about heroes of olympus and the reason why it's so unsatisfying continuity-wise as a sequel to percy jackson is that the small steps taken to dismantle the system of gods using children to fight in their wars are not acknowledged in the main narrative, and the mention of calypso and the very minor inclusion of kids from cabins other than the olympians don't do much to carry it on for another series
maybe it's just me but, pjo is kinda a tragedy? the fact that twelve year olds are forced onto quests to help a world they didn't choose to be born into, growing up seeing everyone around them fall before they got to reach adulthood, and having absolutely no choice in this narrative because either side they choose they're going to die no matter what
percy trading immortality for a normal life for all the demigods, his asking literal gods for basic human rights of not dying, at the end of the last olympian sets such a great potential for sequel exploring how things start to change in the demigod world; a hopeful tone to establish that although the world is broken we can change it no matter how little the steps we take
then hoo comes along and we're supposed to believe that despite fighting for five years, losing people along the way, turning down frickin' immortality, the highest honour the gods could give, just for a chance that those he loves and others that will take their place can live a better life, percy gets kidnapped and is ripped from everything he held dear and loses his memories and is transported to another camp, is forced onto another quest along with
a) four teenagers who are new to this demigod thing and haven't experienced the manipulation of the gods as much as he has (sure, they recognise the unfairness of the lives the gods have given them, but their points of view don't seem to show as much resentment towards them as much as percy is likely to have harboured)
b) a new roman praetor who, despite losing his memories, is raised in a culture where discipline and duty is prioritised, where the gods are to be treated with utmost respect and hence is numb to obeying their whims
c) his literal soulmate who has fought by his side through thick and thin, who had to endure eight months of his disappearance without a single clue as to where he could've been as well as a goddess for a mother who would disown her if she ever chose him over obeying her mother's commands,
he doesn't refuse to go? nor does he go on the quest out of reluctance and protectiveness over these children who don't know any better, and along the way doesn't begin to question whose side he actually wants to be on, now that the gods have dismissed his plea without so much as an excuse, and showing the others that maybe the gods aren't worth fighting for?
it doesn't show me a war-weary percy, not just feral and terrifying to watch on the battlefield, but absolutely refuses for him or anyone else to return there. the percy in hoo isn't one who curses out the gods, who is only forced aboard the argo ii after he sees jason, piper, leo, frank and hazel and is reminded of bianca, zoe, lee, beckendorf, michael, silena, ethan, luke, and those from kronos' army that he barely recognised from his first years at camp and decides he won't let that happen again, not ever. it doesn't tell me how he feels a pang in his heart whenever they can only do what the gods say because they don't know what else to do, and convinces them (and himself) that there's a way to make them listen, by going against what they stand for and resisting until they look us in the eye
idk man, there's a ton of things i'm not huge on about hoo, but how percy (and annabeth!) out of the seven approached the quest wasn't exactly my favourite. and how it ended without acknowledging things around here need to be changed or else. maybe it has been addressed in a later book like in toa, which i don't plan on reading, and if so i stand corrected
it's weird since i haven't read either series in so long but I was suddenly hit with feels this afternoon and wrote this post in a. frenzy after coming across this post on my dashboard

In defense of Caligula and Nero (and Commodus, Amy? Nahhh he deserves to be punched)
Little disclaimer I know nothing of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, i haven’t read the books and all of my infos come from the wiki, this is a goliardic post of the Ides of March.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I’ve come to know that in the Percy Jackson saga some of my FAVOURITE roman principes are the villains. Now, for reasons deeply rooted in my (traumatic) school years i cannot, in any way, pass on this blatant attempt of Seneca and the senatorial and equestrian class to crush the figures of two of the Principes from the Julio-Claudia dinasty. I’m clearly talking about Nero and Caligula. The OTHER villain roman emperor, Commodus, in my opinion deserves to be punched, but i’ll have to break a few spears for him too. Where to start, from the book characterization, perhaps?
Tumblr media
In temporal order, my best boy, Caligula.
According to Percy Jackson’s wiki, Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, also known as Caligula, was made god-like by his followers, even this statement, at the third line is wrong. He himself followed the religious traditions and started declaring he was a god. There were very little Principes made god by their followers, one of this was Julius Caesar, not even a princeps, yet the one who delivered the last blow to the res publica. The wiki outlines quite well Caligula’s life but omits some details. The Princeps was, for the first part of his reign a DAMNED GOOD emperor, he reduced the power of the senators, the ones that brought to the end of the republic, from a certain pov, since their eternal plots to gain more power brought to things like Catilina’s plot and the two triumvirates, he gave the people, following Tiberius’ orders feasts and games, as it was tradition in Rome, and he renewed and built public utility works! He made peace with the Parts and helped calm a population terrified by the last years of Tiberius’ reign, when the princeps had become a paranoid who processed everyone for the minimal thing. Then. He fell victim of a not-better-specified illness. We do not know what this illness was but we do know that it changed a good and equlibrated ruler in what we can with little problem consider tyrant. After that illness is placed the famous episode of Incitatus, his horse, being named consul. However, on this episode i would like to stop: we know most of his story by the hands of enemy writers, even Svetonio, who gloried himself of writing without proving hatred toward his subjects, was a member of that one class Caligula tried to restict the power of, the senatorial class. The nomination of Incitatus as a consul, no less, was probably a way from Caligula to state the incapacity of the politicians to be rational and leve alone the power games by saying that EVEN HIS HORSE would have been able to do better than them.
Tumblr media
With his mum (we’ll soon discover whyyyy) Next our teenage emperor, our fave Madman, Nero
According to the wiki, Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known as simply Nero, was one of the most infamous emperors in Roman history. AND I LAUGH. Oooh i laugh. Let’s start from the beginning. Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus was the first bed son of Agrippina minor, last wife of emperor Claudius, successor of Caligula. Our sweet girl managed to persuade her old husband to adopt the boy and make him his heir, then proceeded to kill the guy with a dish of poisonus mushrooms. Our darlign Nero was at the time a boy of SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD who studied under the tutelage of Seneca. SENECA. The one guy who was SENTENCED TO DEATH under Caligula and EXILED under Claudius and, while stating in his operas that a philosopher is home everywhere was ready to do anything to get back to Rome. Noone is surprised of this i hope. The guy was also part of that one high social class that Emperors like Caligula and then his pupil Nero will try everything to bring down. But let’s proceed with ORDER. Nero ascends to the throne and, under the tutelage of his mum and his master Seneca, rules for five years, five fantastic years for the senatorial class, the quinquennium felix, or quinquennium neronis. Then the guy understands that his two tutors are trying to make him favour their own politics so he fires Seneca and distances himself from his mother and starts taking the power away from the senate AGAIN. He, like Caligula, liked the oriental monarch’s style and lived according to this. He made HUGE donations to the City and had built his own gigantic residence, the Domus Aurea, Golden House. He will keep reigning like this, balancing his advancing madness and the leading of a city that lived everyday more from the State’s Elargitions till the fatal Fire. The fire that made him pass for a mad tyrant was probably started by some of his politic enemies, the guy wasn’t even in Rome when it started. As soon as he knew of it, he opened the doors of the Domus Aurea and mobilized the fire-fighter. At the end of the fire, with a third of Rome burned down, he accused his political enemues who in turn accused the christians. And here it goes, the first persecution! Little time after this, he was the subject of a plot and was gave himself the death by cutting his own throat. Seneca, his ex-master, who was obliged to kill himself after Nero had discovered yet another plot made sure he passed to history as a tyrant and a madman, which he was, in way littlest part, comparing to the things told us. His death brought to a period of political instability that lasted a year, the year of four emperors, from this year the emperor was a guy named Titus Flavius Vespasian. All goes well till... And now the MADMAN, ladies and Gentlemen, COMMODUS, son of Marcus Aurelius. OK. For him i truly have NO excuses, he was a mad, paranoic bastar. He WAS a tyrant and WAS mad. He’s the one villain we’re looking for.
Tumblr media
welll... at least he had style... also, he helped the arts, ain’t it nice? Also, he was not all this mad, he was tolerant toward different religions and gave a nice impulse to the arts... he was just a biiiit mad in his costumes, he raped his sisters, just to say.

As Hades stepped into the home of her brother she slipped off her coat and threw it over the back of the couch in the first living room.
“Where art thou my dear brother?” She called through the house and a sweet whistle sounded down the stairs and around her. She dressed and presented herself much more casual than when she met with Thor. She no longer adorned her business attire, dressed in black jeans and a loose t-shirt. Her boots hitting the marble as she climbed the stairs.
Loki’s house is extravagant. The outside something like a greek temple with its decorated ionic columns and statues. The inside much the same in its sense of power. But Loki likes to be comfortable.  His home has a, well, homely feel to it. Art adorns every wall, in every corner but the blanket is thrown lazily over the couch, there’s a pile of books on the coffee table and as she walks down the hallway she can smell the sea salt as if they were right next to the ocean. She can hear the horses in his backyard through the open windows. Hades always enjoyed coming to Loki’s home because thats what it was. A home. It wasn’t a place of work, apart from his office, his children come and go as they please, there’s always dishes to be washed and laundry to be folded. She felt welcomed here.
“Since when do you work this late?” She leaned on the doorframe of his office as Loki looked up from his piles of paper, his long black hair disheveled from running his fingers through it.
“I’m a very hard worker excuse you,” he smiled and offered her the seat in front of his desk, reaching into a draw next to him and bringing out two glasses and a bottle of nectar in a beautifully adorned glass bottle. Hades’ eyes lingered on the bottle as she ached for him to just hand the thing to her so she could pour it down her throat. Lord she needed a drink after this week.
“And I’m beloved by all,” her voice was sarcastic and she drooled as he handed her the glass and raised his eyebrows.
“By me especially,” he winked. Loki, forever the cheeky bastard.
“My biggest supporter,” she smiled and they clinked their glasses.
Loki looked back down at his work, his forehead crinkled and his lip pulled between his teeth, she had an inkling to rip out the paper from under him but knew better to disturb him while he thought. It could be important afterall.
So instead her eyes wandered, they moved to the ceiling tall bookcase to his right, spotting some of her favourites amongst his collection. She stood and walked towards the giant fish tank he had to his left and peered in, watching the exotic fish minding their business.
“Why can’t people be more like you,” she muttered under her breath and the red and blue fish with a tail that looked like it belonged to a feather dancer stared blankly back at her.
“They don’t like being stared at,” Loki chimed from his desk, his attention still on his papers. She sighed and fell back into the seat.
“Perhaps if you joined me for dinner and a drink or two I wouldn’t. Why are you working, work is off limits on our nights.” She was getting agitated, her entire week had been filled with work, forgetting about the normal stuff, the addition of the council and that damn god of spring was starting to give her a headache. “I’m sick of work! I just want a night off, please Loki.”
“Well I’m sick of you being treated poorly by assholes who think they’re better.” His voice was stern and she leaned back for a second in shock at it. Loki was not often passionate about things. Unless someone had spoken poorly against him or, in Odysseus’ case injured his son and was just a “lying good for nothing asshole!” Loki fought when it was his reputation on the line, but this, this was different, the last time Hades had seen Loki fight for someone other than himself was when he went by Poseidon and they fought side by side with Thor, then Zeus, against their father. Hades prayed a war would not come of this strife that was forming between the Olympians.
“Thor told me what you’re doing, why didn’t you come to me about this? I would have told y-“
“You would have told me to stop, that it’s for nothing but I’m sorry to say Hades, you’re wrong.”
Tumblr media
Steve had his nose buried in his notebook while his mother went on about her campaign to “keep that wicked witch of the Underworld from getting her death grip on the council.” He sketched out the cornucopia from the gates, the flowers that had adorned it. The pages were covered in those sketches, one of her crown, how it was burned into his memory but he didn’t dare draw her face. Currently his pencil shaded a hand, with a vine twisted around it, the thorns piercing its skin and Steve couldn’t help but feel the prickle of the thorns in his own hand.
“Steve!” He jumped at the sound of his mother’s voice. The book slammed shut and he slid into his pocket as she dropped a clipboard into his hands. “Go around the council’s homes, get their signature. Thor needs proof that we will not stand for her to sit with us. We must band together in a time like this. I have no doubt the olympians will agree.” He dropped the clipboard onto the table and shook his head. She paid no attention to him, instead continuing her work as she wrote notes for the debate. “Sing your name too, we can’t forget about ourselves.”
He picked up the clipboard and walked out the door making his way out of the house towards Bucky’s home first.
Bucky’s house always confused Steve, the interior and furniture changed every couple millennia but the outside, the general idea of it was always the same and it was never extravagant. Most homes in Olympus didn’t change much, they just added things to keep up with the times. Bucky’s home was basically a shack. A cabin in the woods. A beach house with the lake view to match. Made of dark wood with a porch that stretched around the entire front of the house. Bucky’s home was one that matched its owner in its entirety. Bucky was a relaxed man, he took things as they came and he was never very serious. It was one of the reasons Steve enjoyed his company so much because when his mother was up his ass or his work was being exceptionally hard Bucky was there with a pat on the back and a drink in his hand inviting him to watch the sunset over the water.
They were best friends, could always count on one another no matter what, Steve knew that Bucky had his back always, and so he knew now that no matter how much Bucky disapproved of the situation he would still back Steve.
“You’re mother is going to kill you.” Bucky sat leaning on his knees on the couch, his beer long forgotten about on the coffee table as he held the clipboard in one hand shaking his head at Steve.
“Pretty sure she always kind of wants to kill me.”
“Never. You’re her special little boy, her one perfect creation,” Bucky cocked a smile at his friend who rolled his eyes back.
“Shut up,” Steve leaned back and sipped at his own beer, watching it spin in his hands. It was a solid plan, if he went to the right people it would work, he could go behind his mother and her campaign and plead Hades’ case. Maybe even talk to Loki, though he wasn’t sure if Loki would believe him. He wasn’t overly sure if anyone would believe him.
“You already know I’m on your side Steve. I know Hades, I remember the last time she sat on the council. She’s smart, she has the knowledge and the authority, she deserves to be there, but the younger gods, the once who have forgotten what she did, the ones that have never worked with her. They don’t know. They eat out of Demeter’s hands with all her bullshit about satan and how we ‘don’t need the dead in the business of the living’,” Bucky mocked Demeter, he was never afraid to do that in front of Steve, at first he felt slightly weird about it, like his mother would know if he ever spoke a bad word about her but he soon realised the Bucky was safe, he could be himself and say what he wanted without consequences, well, with little consequences.
Steve thought about what Bucky had said, he knew that Bucky would be on his side, Bucky had never not shown support for Hades herself, just, ya know, the stupid shit Steve did in Hades…
But something stayed with Steve. ‘the ones that have never worked with her’, had Bucky worked with Hades? When would Bucky have to work with her? Bucky worked with the sun, he worked with prophecies and medicine, none of which concerned the dead.
“Start with Becca, she and I are one of the same, Pallas-Nat, she’ll be on your side too, I know she’s already talked to Loki about it. That’s who you should go to after, to him, if he knows, if he has confirmation from Nat, I know they hate each other because of Athens and Odysseus but he trusts her word, he trusts that she’ll choose the winning side.” Bucky went on and on about who Steve should see, who he knew that would be on his side.
He listened intently, took note and made a plan of what he should say to each. To Becca, goddess of the hunt, the best way was to talk to her about Bucky, they always fought side by side. To Natasha, goddess of wisdom, it was going to be harder. But if Bucky was right then she already agreed with Steve, they just needed to join forces.
Tumblr media
Hades,
I don’t know when you’ll get this, I plan on giving it to Peter to pass on, I know I can trust him to get this to you safely. There’s five days before the council debates and I thought you would appreciate an update as to what is happening in Olympus.
I imagine you have your own ways, maybe spies, Loki has probably discussed matters with you also. He said he had told you he would fight whether you liked it or not, how you told him that he was stubborn. You said I was stubborn as well, I guess I am, but I can’t help fighting for what I believe in. I believe in you. I believe that you should have a say and so do many of the others, Loki, Becca, Natasha, and Jane all agree with me. I think we actually have a shot but Loki thinks it will take your appearance to convince Thor and the lesser gods and nymphs that will be present.
I hope to see you there, please.
Yours,
Steve
Tumblr media
Hades and Sam sat side by side on the balcony that overlooked the gates. They watched as night engulfed them and there was an eery silence between the two. A fresh argument still sitting between them, two sides of the same fight.
Hades’ mind was fighting with itself, her guard was being torn down brick by brick as Loki and Steve tried to convince her to stand before the twelve Olympians. But Sam wasn’t a fan of the idea.
“What if it’s a trap,” he argued, “we don’t know what Demeter has up her sleeve,” he said, “we don’t need them!” He raised his voice and she let him get it all out.
“Are you finished yet?” She brushed her hand over her dress and looked at him as Sam nodded. “You’re right.”
Sam was shocked at what she said, he expected her to rationalise her reasons, he expected her to tell him to mind his own business, to tell him that she would stand up for the Underworld. But she didn’t.
“I’m what now?”
“You’re right Sam. Everything about this is stupid. The living and the dead shouldn’t be mixed, bad things happen, bad things like husbands wanting to resurrect their wives, like people thinking they can make deals in order to mess with what is natural. They don’t respect us or what we do here, you’re right, it could be a trap. Demeter will make it a living hell for myself and the rest of you here if she can. You’re right, we don’t need them, we run things differently here, our systems aren’t the same.”
“Then what…” Sam looked at Hades in awe, there was fire in her eyes and he knew that look, she was sick of being undermined, she was angry, she was determined and if he knew her as well as he thought he did he knew what that look meant. She had a plan. “Then why are you considering it?”
“Because they need us.”
